So make sure you grab a drink, grab a snack, and get comfy.
And let's get into two hours of some shocking write of threads.
I 18 female walked in on my mom, 44 female,
teasing my dad
46 male
while she was wearing
one of my dresses
and then O.P. Flees
home but ends up in
the hands of a predator
and just a quick warning
I mean you can probably already tell
from that title but this one
is sad and tragic
but let's get into it.
I know
it sounds like something out of one of those
really bad Netflix movies
but it's unfortunately for me true.
I was over at a friend's house for most of the day yesterday,
and I wasn't supposed to be coming home until later in the evening.
This is super common for me right now.
My friend has a pool and stuff,
so I've been at her house a lot since school ended a few weeks ago.
Mid afternoon, we decided to go and just drive around,
then wanted to go shopping.
I didn't bring my money with me.
I keep my savings in cash.
in this little jar, so I don't spend it so impulsively.
We decided to go about my house to grab some cash on the way to the mall.
When we got there, my friend waited in the car because I was only going to be a couple of minutes.
When I walked into my house, though, my parents were on the couch.
I don't want to be too overly graphic about what was going on, but my mom was teasing my dad.
and it was very clear that they were about to have intimacy.
They both froze when they saw me.
Totally expected because they didn't plan on being interrupted at all.
I was frozen too.
Then, after a couple of seconds,
I realized my mom was literally wearing one of my favorite dresses,
like I wear it all the time.
Not even like it's really revealing or anything,
just a normal summer dress.
We were all looking at each other.
other in shock for a few seconds before my mom just said, I'm so sorry, sweetie. I ran back out of the house
and was crying by the time I made it to my friend's car. I started explaining to her what I'd just
seen. And she was calming me down, but then my mother came out of the house after me, literally still
wearing my dress. I told my friend to drive away before she got to the car. And we went back to her
house. We didn't give her parents any details about what happened, just that I had some family
drama. I've been friends with her since way back, so they told me I can sleep at their house for a
couple of days until I figure things out. I barely slept last night at all. Every time I close my
eyes, it's like I see it in my head. My mom's called me a bunch of times, but I only texted her
back to let her know where I am and told her I need time before I'm ready to talk to them.
She replied again, apologizing, and wants me to come home today to talk to them.
I don't think I can do that yet.
Even typing this out, I've started shaking with nerves about it.
What do I do now?
I've never felt unsafe in my house before at all.
But I also don't know if I'm comfortable being around my parents now that I know they're
literally pretending she's me.
I'm so grossed out.
And I think I want to burn every piece of clothing I have.
have ever owned. Edit, I really didn't want to write anything explicit about my parents on here,
but since it's been suggested that they might not have been about to have intimacy a couple of times
over messages and stuff, here goes. The top portion of the dress was pulled down and they were
doing stuff. If they weren't about to have intimacy, they were at least being intimate.
Edit number two, I am not upset at all that my parents were having intimacy.
It's the fact that they were about to have intimacy while my mom was wearing one of my favorite dresses.
She and I never share clothes.
And I've been trying to rationalize this some other way, but I don't see why she would have gone into my room and gotten that dress unless it was for what I interrupted them doing.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One user says, yeah, that's not okay at all.
It's not about the intimacy.
It's about being that disrespectful and frankly disgusting that they'd be okay to wear
your clothes during that act.
It could be she wanted to wear a nice dress and not pretend to be you for some weird
fantasy, but why not go by her own?
How messed up do you have to be for that?
Either way, that is super effed up, and I'm not surprised you don't want to be around that.
I'd explain that whether this was a fantasy of theirs or just them being so disgusting that they'd
happily violate their own child's property in that matter.
It's not healthy, normal, or ever okay, and you need time away from them.
They cannot possibly expect you to understand their actions.
Their actions weren't reasonable in the slightest.
And another commenter says,
First of all, I'd like to say that I'm very open-minded about intimacy.
I am, in fact, a intimate worker.
I am also a mother of a teenager.
That being said, I would never, ever do that.
I would feel so wrong.
I'm sorry, O.P.
I don't even know what to say.
I would feel betrayed.
trade and very uncomfortable if I were you.
How is your relationship with your mom on the whole?
And the OPEE responds and says,
overall, she and I have a really good relationship.
We're very open and honest with each other normally.
Another user says,
I can't believe the comments you're getting about this.
The fact that your mother is using your dress
to get screwed in is disturbing and completely out of line.
This isn't just being upset.
set your parents have a healthy, intimate life. It's that your mother has been using your
clothing like this. Like, were they planning on washing your dad's own gunk off their teenage
daughter's dress afterwards? WTF, you're just meant to be cool with it? I'd want to burn the
dress and move out. And the OP respondent says, thank you for understanding. Yes, it isn't
the fact that they were having intimacy at all that disturbed me.
I'd be completely fine if she hadn't been wearing my literal favorite dress.
And someone else replies and says,
it's a major boundary violation.
You're totally in the right to feel like you do.
I wouldn't go to so far to assume she was pretending to be you.
I know people are sick, but the likelihood of that is low.
As it's not normally that common,
and it's probably just a dress she likes and might want to experience being young,
which also carries some pretty heavy implications of envy.
However, it is incredibly disrespectful of your own mother
to use your clothing to seduce your dad,
and for your dad to go along with it.
It shows complete disregard for your boundaries as a person,
which your clothes are an extension of.
Disgusting act on your parents' part.
I am so sorry this has happened to you.
And yeah, this is just nightmarish and super disturbing, but the O.P comes back a few days later with an update, and let's get into it.
The O.P says, all right, I promise to give an update on my situation, and honestly, I feel like writing about things has been pretty helpful to me.
So here it goes. Several people on my initial post advised that I should speak with a therapist,
before seeing or speaking with either of my parents.
I called one I'd seen a few times in the past,
and she was able to book me in for an emergency session,
and she really helped me work through what I saw,
as well as my worries,
and constructing a list of questions to ask my mom when I spoke with her.
I met with my mother over the weekend.
We met at this park near our house in the afternoon,
and sat away from everyone.
My friend, who I'm staying with, and her boyfriend went with me for moral support,
but they hung back and let me talk to my mother alone.
I'm not going to go through our entire conversation because we talked for over an hour,
but it was pretty much what I had feared.
She was role-playing as me when I walked in on her and dad.
She wouldn't confirm how long it had been going on for,
but gave me a list of several pieces of my clothing.
three dresses, then two of my sleep sets, which she had previously borrowed.
She claims they were all cleaned thoroughly before returning them, and I have no reason to believe
she wouldn't have cleaned them.
But I'm never going to wear any of those things again regardless.
It was probably stupid of me, but I asked which one of them came up with the idea for her
to roleplay as me.
According to her, it was her own idea.
I still really don't feel comfortable seeing or talking to my dad
and he hasn't reached out since I walked in on him either
so I guess he isn't comfortable talking to me about it either
my dad was at work when I spoke with her
I made sure of that because I wanted to be able to go by the house
and get a few more of my things
she let me go there alone with my friends and get the things I needed
before going back to her place
I'm still working on where I go from here
I ended up having to fully explain the situation to my friend's parents.
They were both extremely understanding and are willing to let me rent their spare bedroom
for a few months while I figure something else out.
I'm working on getting more hours at work too.
So, yeah, that's pretty much all this happened.
I doubt I'll update beyond this, but I'm sincerely thankful to everybody who reached out
and tried to help me.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One user says,
I think my soul just threw up a bit.
This is the worst scenario I could think of reading your original post,
and I only have well wishes for you,
and that I hope you'll go on to heal from this far, far away from these people.
Someone else says, oh God, I'm so, so sorry that this is happening to you.
I'm also very glad that your friend's parents are letting you stay for now.
I hope you continue with therapy because this is a very hard reality to swallow
in a tough situation to be in.
Please, if you ever consider reestablishing continued contact with your parents,
make it a necessity that they need to have been in therapy for their behavior for at least several months.
Some fantasies are just too harmful to be left in the secret.
of the bedroom, especially since this one is out in the open and sheds a completely different
and sick light on both of your parents' relationship with you. If possible, you should only talk to
your parents in a safe environment with others around, preferably a family therapist. But if I were in
your position, I need a lot of distance and security, as in getting financially independent, etc. from them.
for myself for a long time.
Before I could ever even think about reestablishing contact, best of luck and healing.
I hope you're doing as okay as you can be during this situation.
And someone else just bluntly says, your parents are disgusting.
And then the O.P makes some extra comments in an R slash Ask Reddit post.
One person says, I know I'm probably going to end up with daddy issues because of this.
I just really hope this isn't how they manifest.
And someone respondent says,
If I may ask, you said it was your mom's idea to dress up as such.
Do you feel like your mom was lying?
And the O.P says, I suspect it.
My father still hasn't reached out at all.
Someone else says, feel like they used more clothes?
And the O.P responded and said,
I got rid of everything I owned that was in any way revealing,
and I'm in the process of purchasing all new stuff because of this fear.
The commenter also asks,
Do you feel more uncomfortable around your father than your mother?
And the O.P. says, I don't know.
I haven't been around him since.
I suspect, though, it would feel the same.
And someone else asks, do you blame your father more than your mother?
And the O.P. says, I blame them both equally.
According to Mom, they were both participating inactively.
And the final question was, do you feel this was any attempt of your mom to recapture possible youthful feeling?
and the OP responds and says,
Possibly.
It's been suggested by several women in her age group.
Regardless of her initial motivation,
I still feel like this was way over the line.
And then the OP comes back one day later
with a post titled Acting Out.
And this post reads,
Always heard it's natural to act out
following a major life event.
I guess what I did last night would classify.
Thankfully, I get to wake up, walk out the door,
and leave my mistake behind me.
This isn't the sort of thing I want to do all the time,
but I don't think a one-night distraction is too damaging long-term.
And now let's get into some of the comments.
One person says, how exactly did you act out?
Not judging, just genuinely curious.
By the way, please tell me you're going to NC with your parents.
My heart goes out to you after reading your posts.
And the O.P responds and says,
I don't know why I was being so dramatically cryptic since this is an anonymous account anyways,
LMAO, but I went on Tinder and hooked up last night.
Not really my style, and I don't know why I even did it looking back.
I already deleted that app.
And then we don't hear a serious update from the OP for about three weeks.
And during those three weeks, the OP posts three, extremely detailed and extremely graphic, like,
erotic posts where she basically outlines and writes down these intimate encounters she had.
And like, I'm just not going to read it because it's so detailed and so graphic.
Like, I'm just not going to attempt to read it.
But basically she posts these three like kind of almost random posts of encounter she's had in those following three weeks.
And I guess I'll use a TLDR of the first one.
Opie has an impulsive and intense intimate encounter with a man 10 years older than her that she just met at
Indy Race, demonstrating both in the encounter and in her retelling of it that her hyper intimacy
is becoming more of a problem. And then she posts, I think, a few days later. And basically,
O.P. has talked into getting bolder with her intimate fantasies by a, quote, really hot couple from
the UK. And she ends up pleasuring herself in a technically public, but mostly hidden place in a park at
night with plans to do it again during the day. And then the third one is just so explicit.
I can't even begin to summarize it. But, you know, these three posts were just super explicit
and they kind of felt like out of nowhere from the first updates we got because this was a
throwaway account from the O.P. And she was just updating us on her situation with her parents,
which was obviously gross and disgusting. But these, you know, intimate encounters she had.
And then she wrote like really detailed like stories about them. You just feel.
felt random to me and weird, but we're not going to get into them, like super detailed for obvious
reasons. But then the OP comes back three weeks later with a serious update titled yet another
update, and it reads as follows. So my story ended up being shared on YouTube by some
relatively big channels, and I've gotten a bunch of messages asking if my situation has improved.
And for me to provide another update, I didn't know if I was going to keep posting here
after sharing some of the more explicit things I've done since moving out of the house,
but honestly, I don't seem to harm in it, and sometimes the messages I get are really sweet,
so here it goes. I suppose things have gotten both better and a bit worse for me since the last
time I updated. I checked back, and the last time I posted an official update was almost
three weeks ago. But I swear, it feels like it's been months. I can't sleep really well,
because I just have nightmares about walking in on my parents' role-playing as me. And I'm tired all
the time. I've been working with my therapist through this, and she's gotten me onto some
relaxation techniques that help. ASMR is a surprisingly effective tool. As far as my living situation
goes, I'll be moving into my own bedroom in an apartment with two of my coworkers at the beginning
of September. Their roommate is moving out, and they were able to give me a good price on rent.
Think they took pity on me a little bit, since they're both a bit older. Living with my friend
isn't working out the best. I mentioned in one of the other updates that her dad was pretty clearly
I effing me whenever he was around. He's pushed things a decent bit further since, and started
getting grabby with me when he can get me alone. I've developed this really bad, like,
hyper intimacy thing, for some reason, since all the stuff happened with my parents. Yes, I am
in therapy. Yes, I am working on it. But as a result of that, for some reason I do absolutely
nothing to stop him when he grabs me. It's sick, but I know on some level I like the attention.
I've been avoiding being around the house as much as a possible, because I know in the back of my
head, I'm just not going to say no to him. September can't come fast enough in that regard.
Work's been giving me plenty of extra hours, and I've been saving as much money as possible,
while also slowly buying myself a few pieces of clothes. I've gotten a plan to get myself back up
to a somewhat full wardrobe by Christmas or so. Sorry these posts have become so dirty.
I mean, I know the first relationship advice post wasn't exactly a Disney movie, but I know it's gotten
substantially more explicit sense.
Did the people still trying to give advice
and offer their fresh perspective?
Thank you.
I've actually been given some really good advice
from random people on the internet.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One user says,
you've dealt with a lot in such a short amount of time.
You have nothing to apologize for.
I'm sorry things aren't going the way you wanted
with your living situation.
Your friend's dad is horrible.
They may not mean,
much because I'm a stranger, but I'm proud that you're acknowledging everything happening
and actively working on doing better for yourself. And the OP response and says,
thank you for your kind words. Someone else says, have you told your friend about their dad?
And the OP response and says, she and I talked about it early on. When I mentioned that I felt
like her dad was looking at me a lot, she thought I was overblowing it because of what had just
happened with my own parents. I'm not sure how to
to approach a discussion about this with her while I'm also still living in the house.
Also not sure how to prove anything to her at the moment and I don't feel like she would believe
me. And someone responds and says, sweetheart, someone's going to walk in on him funneling you sooner
or later and you will be the one copying to the blame. Please tell your friend now that he is
assaulting you and make sure you are never alone with him. No amount of attention is worth ruining
your friendship. And someone else says, can I ask why your parents are not helping you financially?
This mess is their fault and they should at the very least be making this easier for you.
And the OPE responds and says, I don't really have an answer for that. I haven't asked.
And it hasn't been offered. My mom completely stopped reaching out already and dad never has.
I think he's embarrassed. It's not like I've been trying to.
to talk to them either. I was ignoring my mother when she reached out. And then the OP comes back
seven days later with an update titled Bad Update and let's get into it. The OP says every single time
I post something on this account, I tell myself it's going to be the last post, that I'm not going to
have a reason to post on here or I'll wake up for my bad dream or whatever. It has a
hasn't happened yet. Aside from my therapist, I don't have anyone I can discuss my situation
with. Random strangers on the internet have been an outlet for me. Messy, but cleaner than dumping
all of this on anyone I actually know. I'm sure you can all tell where this is headed. Given the
title and the trigger warning at the top, her dad had intimacy with me. He found out that I'm moving
out of their house at the end of the month
and took the first opportunity
he had to push things further
than he had been going before.
Where I live,
employers are required to give two days
off in a row each week.
I've been taking extra shifts where I can,
but corporate are cracking down on that right now
despite the fact that we've been understaffed
and there weren't any available for me to take.
The second day of that was two days ago.
I spent most of the morning with my friend,
but she had this family thing to go to with her mom and grandmother, so I was by myself after that.
I mentioned in my last post I've been avoiding him when I'm able to find another place to be,
and during the day I go for a lot of walks and stuff, but I can't be out of the house all the time,
and I hadn't figured out what I was going to do yet.
About a half an hour, just 30 minutes, that's how long it took for him to decide he wanted to come tease me again.
I was in their den area, playing with their two cats when he came downstairs.
I knew immediately what he had in mind because he just had that look about him.
His standard move is coming up behind me and grabbing my ass before reaching around to my chest.
I guess he had made his decision to go further when he came down because he skipped that entirety.
He just pulled my shirt off and started playing with my chest.
I was moaning pretty quickly and he was aroused.
He told me that he was sad to hear that I'm not going to be around the house much longer.
He told me that I'm fun and that he likes having me there.
Of course he does.
I feel so bad for his wife.
He pushed his hand into my pants and started fondling me.
That was the point where I went from him.
during the headlights to active participant.
I couldn't make myself say no.
The whole thing turned me on,
and at the time, I didn't care about anything else.
I reached back and did some stuff to him.
It was just the heat of the situation doing it to me.
I've thought back,
and it's not like he did anything special otherwise.
From there, he led me to their bedroom,
and then he had intimacy.
My friend and her mom were gone until the evening.
He and I spent pretty much the entire afternoon there having intimacy.
What's weird about the whole thing is he's actually really sweet.
Like he's nice to me and other than the fondling,
he asked for consent before he does anything to me.
The big problem is I kept giving him consent.
Every time he has to switch positions or move to one of the other rooms,
I was screaming at myself mentally to turn him down.
Say no and leave.
but every time I find myself nodding with a smile, making eyes at him and letting him do whatever he wants to me.
My brain just loves making me do this stuff, I guess.
It didn't end when they came home either.
It's like the game is on or something for both of us.
Whenever we can find time alone, we're all over each other.
It's horrible.
I went into his office last night when he was working and did some stuff while he was sitting downstairs watching TV,
She's given me no reason to hurt her.
In fact, his wife is one of the nicest people I've met and so supportive of me.
None of that stopped me, though.
I went anyway because I was turned on and he was there.
He did some other crazy stuff to me.
And, yeah, no idea what I'm going to do with my life moving forward or how I'm going to
handle the situation.
I'm sure I've thoroughly nuked my life.
It's just a matter of time when it all goes off.
If you actually read all this and you're not completely disgusted with my existence as a human being,
then I thank you for your consideration.
I know I'm not making it easy to view me as anything but a problem at this point.
Thanks for listening to Me Vent.
And then the OPE comes back about two days later with another update titled,
I Got Evidence, and it reads as follows.
I mentioned any comment that I found somewhere else to stay last night
as a way of removing myself from the situation with my friend's dad.
I was able to find somewhere else to crash over the weekend,
so I won't be going back there, at least not immediately.
I got the evidence I need to tell his wife what's going on, though.
He actually thought it'd be a good idea to text me,
probably thinks nothing will come of it,
because I was so willing when we had intimacy.
currently working on a plan for getting the rest of my things from that house and telling her what happened.
I know she's going to hate me.
My friend is going to hate me, but it needs to be done.
And I'm gonna.
And now let's get into the top comments.
One person says, have you spoken to your dad about the role playing?
And the OP says, dad hasn't reached out to speak with me at all.
And someone else says, you are emotionally vulnerable near child.
He is an adult.
I assume he's at least in his 40s or 50s.
Married man, who has been making advances on his child's homeless friend.
He is a predator.
It doesn't matter how sweet he was.
I assume he and his wife are the homeowners or at least pay the rent.
You wanted to say no, but you felt like you couldn't.
For all you knew, he could have kicked you out for saying no.
He took advantage of your vulnerable and compromised,
position. He made the conscious choice of cheating on his wife by coercing someone relying on his
kindness for housing, who is barely a legal adult, to have intimacy with him. Should you have said no?
Yeah, probably, but that doesn't mean he would have even stopped. It doesn't mean you didn't
feel pressured to say yes. It doesn't mean you wanted it. It doesn't make you a bad
person. And someone else says, dude, do you have any safe family or friends that would let you
stay with them while you get back on your feet? Or is there a shelter near where you live? Maybe
staying with an all-female roommates? You're going through a hyper-intimate phase in there,
and I know how it feels. But if you haven't mentioned it to your therapist, or if you have,
that phase is going to be the equal to being addicted to drugs. As hard as it is to try not to give
into it because it's not going to feel good once you have sobered up later. Your friend and her mom
might be angry at you, but the one to blame here is the grown-ass man, going after his daughter's
friends after a traumatic event. Also, even if he reaches out to you, please don't trust him at all.
He's only being sweet and nice so he can get what he wants, and once you're hooked on him,
he's going to show his true colors. Please be careful and try to stay safe. I would also recognize
recommend leaving your things with someone else before telling your friend and her mom anything,
as they probably won't let you back in for your things. And then the OPE comes back a few days
later with an update titled Accountability. And this reads as follows. All right, so, I'm going to
try to hold myself to account as best I can here. My friend's dad reached out to me via text
late last night. As I mentioned before, and with the advice of some Redditors,
I had intimate text with him just enough to get incriminating screenshots and then told him I was going to bed.
I'm back at my friend's house now. He isn't home. I told her I stayed with a friend and she didn't really question it much.
I really don't have much here at all. So I've got it all packed up and I'm going to get out of the house before I tell her what happened.
I'm going to let her tell her mother or give her the option to be there when I do. Her mom knows me, but,
I feel like it might be better coming from someone who hasn't had intimacy with her husband.
My roommates to be from work got back to me already too.
They told their other roommate enough about my situation that she's fine with me crashing on the couch for the rest of the month
and stacking my stuff in the basement until she moves out.
I am so lucky to have people who are willing to give me a place so quick.
I haven't slept almost at all.
I've just been awake thinking about everything.
I think I got a couple of hours, but I'm mostly surviving on coffee right now.
Now, I want to talk a little bit about my own guilt regarding what happened.
I do think I was pressured into the situation, but I don't think that absolves me of all
the responsibility, like some people have suggested.
Once it started, I was an enthusiastic participant, and I went back for more eagerly.
Even having intimate text with him last night was kind of,
kind of hot for me. It's messed up, but that's where I'm at right now mentally. I'll make a Tinder
at some point to try to find something ongoing, stable, and not completely destructive. This whole
thing terrifies me now because my friend and her family are the ones who have been keeping the secret
from people I know socially. Pretty good chance now that all my friends are going to find out the whole
story now. I think I could live with just being shamed, but people knowing the whole thing seems
scarier. Honestly, it's a good argument for me stopping these posts. I don't know. I feel connected
to writing it out somehow. It helps me work through things mentally in a way. I don't think
journaling alone would do. Your guys' input has been so helpful. You have no idea. Even the people
giving me crap, it really does help.
Anyway, that's what's going through my brain today.
I guess this is my crappy life journal now.
And now it's getting into some of the top comments.
One user says, oh man, I wish I could just give you a hug.
And I want to assure you that your friend's dad is disgusting and a predator.
Even if he doesn't know the specific reason for your need for shelter away from your parents,
he knows you have one.
And that makes you incredibly vulnerable.
But it sounds like he has at least a rough idea of what happened and that makes him even more of a sack of crap.
As a guest in his house and his daughter's friend, his job is to protect you, not wear down your boundaries,
which are understandably messed up right now until you have intimacy with him.
You've experienced a profound, intimate violation and abandonment from the two people in the world,
your parents who are supposed to protect you.
It is no surprise that you would act out intimately.
This is an incredibly common response to trauma,
and it's not a surprise that while you didn't invite
or instigate the activity with your friend's father,
you found yourself participating in and even enjoying it.
Intimacy fulfills a lot of basic human needs,
and you are a young woman who currently has very few of her basic needs being met.
when I was 19, I started a intimate relationship with a man 34 years older than me.
He had known me since I was 17.
I beat myself up about that relationship for years when I even allowed myself to think about it.
I convinced myself that somehow I was the one taking advantage of him.
It wasn't until I heard some of the conversations around the Me Too explosion
that I fully interrogated and understood the fact that I was,
was manipulated and exploited. It also took being close to 40 to understand just how gross it was
for a 52-year-old man to want to have intimacy with a 19-year-old he knew had a history of abuse.
Our situations are not quite the same, but they're close enough in essentials.
I understand the need to hold yourself accountable. I understand wanting to make amends for what
you think you did wrong. But I also think you're making the same.
the same mistake I did, which is giving yourself credit for more agency than you actually have.
I don't think you need to confess anything to your friend or her mother.
I know you won't believe me for another 20 years or so, but this isn't your transgression.
This isn't garden variety and fidelity between equals.
This is exploitation, and the moral weight of it falls squarely on the shoulders of the person with power.
That's not you.
I think you should focus on getting somewhere safe and catching your breath.
I think you should put some distance between your friend and you, which will likely be hurtful
to her, but this is a matter of survival for you.
I think you should try to surround yourself with people who won't age you in self-sabotage.
I think you should find a hobby that will help give you a sense of pride and an escape.
I'm completely serious about this.
I do cross-stitching because it takes zero talent, but you should find a hobby.
but you're young.
If I was 18 again, I would take up running.
If you do feel the need to tell his family,
then I would beg you not to tell your friend, but her mother.
Let her parents decide how much of their mess they want to sift down to their child.
Maybe they'll do the right thing and at least try to keep her out of it.
I'd also really encourage you to wait for six months
and spend that time working with your therapist on how and why you would confess.
But mostly, I really want you to wait because I'm afraid that you'll be met with a lot of abuse and shame that you won't deserve because they'll be too hurt to have any kind of perspective.
I think you need to build up some resources and safety for yourself before you try to blow yourself up when you're still reeling from what your parents did.
I'm sorry for writing you a novel you didn't ask for, but this internet stranger wants you to know you're not alone in what you're going through.
And someone else says, sweetheart, please understand that this fully adult man took advantage of you, a teenager, while you were extraordinarily vulnerable.
That is not a good man, no matter how sweetie was at the time.
I know you must be confused and honestly, this entire situation is much too much for anyone to deal with, much less someone in your age.
Please know that although some of the commenters on your other post are trying to pile onto your guilt and shame,
not all of us see it that way.
And we're hoping for the best.
You are a remarkably strong young woman who's been through so much in such a short period of time.
I'm glad to hear you're going to be getting out of your friend's place.
Hopefully you'll have some stability in your new apartment.
And then the OP comes back about two weeks later.
with an update titled, probably my final update, and it reads as follows.
Hi, so my situation is calmed down a little bit now.
I've been crashing on the couch of my new apartment this past week,
and honestly, things have been pretty good.
I'm putting that right at the top,
so if all you're looking for is to know that I'm safe,
and I think that I'm going to be okay, you have it here.
Stuff still got kind of messy,
as I was leaving my friend's house.
I've definitely burned bridges there.
But there's nothing I can do about that now.
I still ended up sleeping in my friend's house
for a couple more days
after deciding I was going to figure out a way
to tell her and or her mom
about what happened between her,
me, and her dad.
It was two nights,
and he found an excuse to have intimacy with me
the second one.
It wasn't sweet or even caring.
It just,
just felt mechanical at that point he came to my bedroom flipped me over took me onto the bed and i didn't do a
single thing to stop it i never asked him not to i was still entirely frozen i'm disgusted with myself
he left immediately after because his wife was in their room i cried a lot and started writing a
letter to my friend and her mom i talked with my therapist about everything we've gone over everything
during two sessions. And I'm in a lot better mental state now, as far as knowing I'm not necessarily
a horrible person for not being able to turn down someone who had power over me. My therapist didn't
think it was a good idea for me to tell my friend what happened though. That should be left up to her
parents to inform her. So my letter ended up just being to her mom. I'm not going to put the text
of it on here because it gives a lot of details that I haven't gone into specifics about,
but I gave her the letter on Thursday.
I just went over when I knew she'd be around
and told her that I needed to talk to her.
I sat there while she read the letter I wrote,
shaking the whole time.
I just wanted to get up and run.
My therapist told me her reaction
might not be what I expected it to me,
and she was correct there.
She didn't cry.
She didn't yell.
She just asked me to show her the text messages on my phone.
I don't think she really believed me until then because after she saw the messages, she called me a effing, a bad word, and told me to never come back to her house or around her family.
I don't think she's told my friend or anything because she's still reaching out to make sure that I'm all right after moving out of her place and not really telling her what was going on with me.
I'm completely blowing her off.
It feels fake to maintain a friendship with her now given what's happened.
but I also don't know if that's cruel of me
and I should give her an explanation of some sort.
As far as the stuff with my parents goes,
they literally haven't said a single thing to me
since I told my mom to stay away.
I kind of expected something,
but they are respecting my request by not reaching out.
I think that's everything I have to update people on.
Living with a bunch of other adults is kind of weird.
I'm not used to cooking for myself on a nightly basis.
It's an adjustment, but I'll get there.
Thank you for everyone for your help since I posted my original situation.
And then the final comment by the OP on the situation she landed in at her friend's house.
The OP said, I don't think something profound needs to be said.
It's a horrible situation and I'm glad that it's finally ending.
This has been the longest few weeks of my entire life.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One person says,
you were very brave to stay there while she read the letter.
It'll take her time to process just how disgusting her husband has been,
praying on a traumatized teenager while she was in the next room.
Please, just concentrate on you for now.
Someone else says, thank you for the update.
I'm glad you're able to talk it out with your therapist.
Just remember that you don't owe the family anything.
Make a clean break and keep yourself happy and sane.
And finally, someone else says, hey, you are a strong person.
You've been through enough to break many people, which is how I know that.
Thanks for the update.
Be well.
And this ended up not being the O.P.'s last update.
Well, it kind of was like the last serious update.
But the O.P. comes back two months later with a post titled, I've been working as a topless made for extra.
cash. And it reads, I've done three appointments so far. They all pay really well. It's cleaning
nice condos for people. The guys just sit there and watch. There's no touching or anything.
But I do make a show of cleaning the area immediately around them. I was surprised to learn its actual
cleaning work though, L.O.L. I did someone's kitchen last week. And the oven was a pain.
And this is the last post we have ever received from the OP.
And man, what's a heartbreaking and just honestly depressing Reddit thread.
The OP just had her life ruined by her parents doing some weird and disgusting stuff that she walked in on.
And then she ended up moving to her friend's house.
And her friend's dad ended up praying on her.
And then now, you know, a few months later, she's doing topless made work, which, I mean, it just, you know, seems like it escalated very fast.
and it's just not what I expected at all from this Reddit thread.
But I hope that the O.P. is just doing better now.
And what are your guys' thoughts on this whole thread?
I mean, I'm really curious to see what you guys think.
But yeah, anyways, on to the next one.
I found my personal explicit photos on my brother's PC.
About two months ago, my brother passed away.
It has devastated my family.
and we have slowly been putting ourselves back together.
My mom has finally got to the point
where she is comfortable going through his belongings
that got sent to us from his flat
and she gave me his PC,
among other bits to take a look at
and see if I could do anything with it.
I know a fair bit about computers,
so I thought I would set it up to see what still worked.
It booted up fine,
and to my surprise, he didn't have a password on it.
He lived on his own,
so I guess he never needed to keep anyone out.
Out of a sort of morbid curiosity,
I opened the browser.
I thought I could maybe see
some of the last things he was looking at
towards the end,
and I saw a link to his Google photos
in his favorites bar.
I thought this was an amazing chance
to get back some of the photos
we might have never seen.
Get some photos of his friends
and adventures he's been on over the years.
On the side, I saw his albums
and one of them had my name on it.
In this album was a ton of my personal explicit photos,
videos and screenshots of some of my Instagram posts and stories.
I didn't go through it for long, but it was a massive amount.
I have no idea how he got a hold of them or why the hell he'd been collecting them.
I used to be in a long-distance relationship with my ex
who loved sending him pictures and videos.
but there's no way he would have sent them to my brother.
Now, I don't know what to do, which is why I'm posting it here, I guess.
I can't tell anyone.
I now feel so different about him, and I don't understand why he would have done this.
Was he attracted to me?
Did he get off to these?
Or was it just some sort of compulsion he had?
I'm a mix of disgusted and devastated, and I just don't know how to move on from it.
I keep feeling like a need to go back
and look how far this collection goes,
but I know I shouldn't.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One person says,
Did you know your long-distance boyfriend in real life?
Did you leave your phone unattended with your brother?
What is your age gap?
And the OP responds and says,
yeah, I knew my ex.
We just only got to see each other every other weekend because of his work.
I never left my phone unattended that I'd
knew of, but we lived in the same house until I was 18 and moved out so there's no way of knowing.
I only intended to see him every special occasion at my parents' place for the last few years,
really.
There's a two-year age gap.
I'm the eldest.
Another commenter says, that is a lot to process.
Is there anyone you can talk to outside the situation?
A therapist?
And the OP responds and says,
thank you for the kind words.
Yeah, I would love to open up to someone,
but I don't have that many friends
and those I do knew him pretty well,
so I wouldn't want to discuss it with them.
I just can't get the image out of my head
of him pleasuring himself to pictures
he was never meant to see.
It's a lot.
And someone else says,
you should probably check his social media slash browser history
in case he shared the photos.
My condolences.
Also, you should probably talk to a psychologist.
And another commenter says,
I'm really sorry.
That's mortifying on the highest level.
To be honest,
there's a chance he was selling or posting them online
or catfishing guys with them privately.
And if he has so many,
I think the only methods that come to mind
is that your ex really had sent them
where your brother could access your accounts,
his emails, history,
bookmarks, etc.
would be the best place to look as far as I'm aware,
including other device bookmarks linked to the same account.
Photo metadata, not sure if reverse image would work
unless he was sharing anything publicly,
I'm sure you don't want to look into it any further,
and I don't blame you, but I am worried for you.
Wishing you all the best,
if you don't feel able to talk to someone you know about this,
I would suggest you seek a counselor,
therapist, etc.
Soon.
And someone else says,
okay, I'm a little versed in things like this
due to my professional background
and can take a pretty good stab at what has happened.
The most likely thing is that your phone sinks to your cloud.
Apple and Samsung both set this up
and silently send backups to the cloud
without you knowing or remembering.
You also have Dropbox and Facebook auto-sinking.
If I was to take it,
a guess, this would be the most likely answer and your bro got access this way. Every time you
took a picture of yourself in the mirror, your brother got access to it within minutes. Apart from the
obvious answer, that he got direct access to your phone, the other common one is that you use the same
password or somehow your password got compromised for multiple sites, i.e., you once told your brother
password for your JustEat or Uber account, but forgot that you use it for your Dropbox. I can not
scream loud enough to everyone about how important it is to secure yourself with two-factor
authentication. I have personally seen compromised email accounts, turn into Dropbox password
reminders, turn into Dropbox full access without the user ever knowing. 2FA is a massive
pain in the arse for people trying to compromise someone. I'm very sorry for your loss.
and then the OP post and update three days later and let's get into it.
First off, I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who reached out after my last post.
It has been so nice to have the support from you guys and finally get this off my chest.
It has been a roller coaster of a week.
I think I can update you all in three parts.
Firstly, a lot of people were suspicious of my ex and some even suggested that it was
was my brother catfishing me all along. I can confirm that's not the case because I went through all
the photos my brother had of me and many of them were from before and after my ex was even in my life.
So it must have been some account access he had to all my photos to be able to access from that far back.
Second, I did a reverse image search on most of the photos and most of them have been posted online
and reposted all over the place.
Oh my God, that's so horrible.
I'm trying not to think about why he would have done this
and just accepted that it's happened.
I could go through the massive process
of trying to get them all taken down,
but it doesn't seem worth it for my own health.
Luckily, any photos and videos that ended up
on my more popular places like Reddit
weren't very popular.
F me, right?
So I'm not worried about them coming back to haunt me.
The internet is a massive place
filled with tons of unclothed people.
So I'm confident they will get lost to time.
And finally, I have booked in with a therapist.
I start on Monday, and I'm both terrified and excited.
We will see how it goes,
but I'm ready to get this all right in my head
so I can finally move on.
All my passwords are changed,
and my photos are in a safer place now,
so I'm ready for my life to start back up again
and finally grieve.
Thanks again, everyone.
And just, oh my God, that is so horrible.
I mean, like the op he went from grieving her, you know,
passed away or dead brother and learns this horrible truth about him,
that he was gaining access to her photos and posting them online.
Like, what a disgusting person to do that.
Like, that is so gross and horrible.
But let's get into some top comments.
person says, I had an ex who while we were together would take the explicit photos I would send
him and post them on his alter Reddit account where he would pretend to be me. He said he loved
seeing how desperate men were in his DMs and weird stuff like that. There's a reason I don't
send explicit photos anymore. I'm not blaming O.P. at all for sending them. I would have done
the same in her shoes. I'm so sorry your brother did this and your update about going to see a
therapist is the best step. I hope you can hear you.
not only from your brother's death, but also this betrayal.
I'm so sorry, O.P.
And someone else says, what a messed up situation.
First, you lose someone you grew up with and were presumably very close to.
Then you find out they were a massive purve and violated your consent for most of the time you knew them.
And someone else says, I bet he was using them to catfish people.
And another user says, imagine you lost someone.
that you connected with throughout your whole life,
only to discover they are absolutely creepy the whole time.
Gives me the creeps.
I can't imagine how much pain O.P.
has felt upon knowing this now.
Hopefully those pictures will never come out
and O.P. is able to have a safe future.
And this is the last update we have ever received from the O.P.
And man, I just really hope that the O.P. is doing better now.
I, 22 female, had intimacy with my neighbor 30 male once.
Is his current behavior weird?
Or am I being over dramatic?
I made the mistake of having intimacy with my neighbor.
We live in the same building and I came home from a night out about two weeks ago and met him in the hallway.
We got talking and he invited me back to his place.
We had a drink, one thing led to another, and we had intimacy.
I have to admit, the intimacy was pretty awkward and bad.
I'm cringing as I write this, but as we were doing it, he told me he loved me.
We had spoken about twice before this night.
So I got my first impression, maybe he was a bit strange.
I was really embarrassed by the whole thing, thought he would be too.
and not very maturely decided to just avoid him.
I thought he would get the hint
that it was just a drunk one-time thing
and I was not interested.
But I kept seeing him all the time.
I think he must have worked out what time I leave
and get back from work because I started bumping into him
way more than I used to.
I kept the conversation short and acted uninterested
because I thought he would get the hint and back off a little.
I guess I was just avoiding that awkward conversation telling him I wasn't interested, but in no way was I encouraging him.
He persisted, and then a few days ago, he added me on Facebook, which I ignored.
The next time I saw him, he asked me why I hadn't accepted his friend request.
So I decided to be a bit more assertive and said something like,
The other night was fun, but I'm really not interested in anything.
He was quite upbeat and replied,
Okay, that's cool, but we can still be friends.
So I thought maybe I had been a bit more immature towards him.
And now that I'm told him my intentions, we could be friends.
I still think he's being a bit overly friendly with me.
I'm sure he's waiting to bump into me
because I see him like all the time now.
He also is not shy about asking personal questions,
like about ex-boyfriends and stuff.
I get that some people are more open about some things, but I find a little weird.
On Facebook, he has liked so many of my pictures.
I know we all stock people on Facebook, but he's very obvious about it.
He has also messaged me a couple of times asking me to hang out.
My question is, his behavior is a bit weird, or am I just being overdramatic?
I am happy to be his friend, but I feel.
feel like he is being a bit over the top. I don't want to act like a bitch towards him,
but I don't really want to know how to tell him to tone it down without coming across this one.
He is someone I will probably keep seeing, so I feel like I have to be nice to him, but he is
weirding me out. And now let's get into some of the top comments. One user says,
he literally told you he loved you. You chose to brush this off. You shouldn't have. Because
because it was a red flag.
He loves you and he wants to get into your pants big time.
He's being your friend because he thinks he can get into your pants that way.
You're not being overdramatic, just oblivious to what this guy is doing.
And the opi responds and says,
I only brushed it off because I thought it was a silly drunk comment
and he was literally right on top of me.
So I didn't want to make the whole thing even more awkward by mentioning it.
Maybe I've been oblivious,
but I just didn't think anyone would say that when they were having intimacy
with someone they didn't really know.
One other user says the obvious hindsight answer is,
but seriously, I think due to having intimacy and the fact he said he loves you
probably means he's had a crush or adult equivalent on you for a while.
Then the intimacy happened,
and he's probably been hit by the love bug slash stalker bug, etc.
If he is a normal human being, it will subside.
If he isn't, which you've hinted is a possibility,
I would at the very least let a friend or someone know the situation,
just to be on the safe side and then play it by year.
Hopefully, it all dies down for you though.
And the OP responds and says,
yes, hindsight is a great thing,
but I have deleted it on Facebook now,
and hope it'll all just subside.
I have told a couple of friends about it anyway,
so if things get worse, they know,
but honestly, I don't think he's that crazy.
Another user says,
just tell him that you aren't interested,
and you would like it if he would stop waiting around for you.
And the OPE responds and says,
I did tell him I wasn't interested, but yeah.
I guess I will just have to be a bit more assertive
and tell him not to wait around for me.
And another user says,
Where some see heroes and others see egos.
Bloomberg sees the era of billionaire athletes.
While others follow the noise,
we follow the money.

When the OP stops responding after heeding the advice on here,
I'll assume the guy murdered her.
And another person says,
you really do not have to be his friend. And the OP respondent says, I really was happy to be his friend,
but I just found him a bit overwhelming because I felt like I couldn't leave my home without having to see him
and talk to him, and his presence on Facebook was pretty annoying. I do agree, though, I don't have to be
his friend, and I quite like the way you worded how to break it off. So thanks. And then we get an update
four days later and let's get into it. It reads as follows. So I'm going to begin with the typical
thanks for the advice and for those who kept telling me, yes, I have learned my lesson about having
intimacy with someone who I don't really know and can't really avoid. Anyway, on to the update of
this situation. The first thing I did was delete and block him from Facebook, but that's the easy
bit because I was still going to have to talk to him in person. I coincidentally ran into him on Monday.
The first thing he said to me was, have you deleted your Facebook or something? Because I can't find you
anymore. So I went for it and gave a long speech about how he's a nice guy. And I thought we could be
friends, but I feel like I'm leading him on by hanging out together as I'm not really interested.
He replied that he really does just want to be friends and that it would be more awkward now if we're
not. I just said something like, I don't want to give you the wrong impression, so I think it's best
for now if we're not. And then I just quickly left before we could say anything else. I felt like a bit
of a bitch saying it, but I guess it needed to be said, and I'm glad I did it because he was
overwhelming me slightly. So far it worked, and I haven't actually seen him since, but it has only
been like two days. However, last night, I got a rambling long letter through my door. Uh-oh.
It came quite late, so I'm almost hoping he was drunk or something when he delivered it,
because I think it's kind of weird and also vaguely insulting. I think I will type it out
as is difficult to explain the tone of the letter. So here it is. And now let's read the letter.
It reads, Dear So-and-So, whatever her name was, you didn't give me much chance to speak the other night, and there is more I wanted to say, though this might actually be an easier way for me to explain my thoughts and feelings.
I know we had only talked a few times before our trice, but I feel like there was an obvious connection between us.
I'm sure you must have felt it too, or I don't think you would have come home with me that night.
I'm not the type of guy who sleeps with girls, I don't really know, but I was extremely attracted to you.
And when it appeared, you reciprocated my feelings.
I couldn't help myself.
When he told me you weren't interested in anything romantic, I understood, even if it was not what I wanted to hear.
I don't know anything about your personal life, part of the reason why I am not usually interested in one-night stands.
And so, of course, I realize why you might not be interested in me.
me. However, I think it is strange you don't want to at least be friends. We've shared a very
intimate moment with each other and you can't pretend it never happened. It therefore seems only
logical that we become friends. It only makes it more awkward if we aren't. I just want to say
if you feel embarrassed or worried that I think of you as promiscuous, don't be. I don't judge you.
That would be a terrible double standard.
though be careful because some men may see your behavior as promiscuous,
especially if you refuse to talk to them after.
Just like when a guy doesn't call a girl after they sleep together,
he is seen as an asshole.
Really, the point of me saying all of this is just to repeat that,
I understand you are not interested in a relationship with me, and I respect that.
However, I'm just going to say it, I really like you.
You're a fun,
smart, and a beautiful girl, and I would love to get to know you more.
I don't think you can deny that we get along very well before that night,
and I don't think what happened should change anything.
Don't think you're leading me on.
I'm a grown guy, and I know that no means can handle just being friends with you.
But I respect what you said to me, even if it hurt a little,
and we'll keep my distance from you for now.
If you change your mind, and if you ever want to talk to me, or if you need anything, you know where I live and I will always welcome you.
That's what neighbors are for, right?
And then the O.P. says, I do feel a bit bad because he obviously does like me and has put a lot of emotional value on what happened between us.
But I just don't feel like I can deal with someone as intense as him.
Maybe it's just me, but I do think that his letter has confirmed that he is a bit odd.
So I'm glad I said what I said and was up front with him.
I think he will leave me alone now.
He has so far.
Though I hope if we do see each other, we can be polite and it won't be too awkward.
But it probably will.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
one user says make sure your friends and family know about him and the op he responds and says thanks
i've already but hopefully things will go no further and someone else says so basically you're
promiscuous if you don't become his friend i'd suggest being promiscuous and the opi says i think
that is the better option and someone else says ugh this guy is way too heavy way to
attached after one night of intimacy.
The whole letter is creepy.
There was no need for him to write it.
And the OPEE responds and says,
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks is creepy.
And someone else responds and says,
when I was your age,
I might have written a letter like that
if I were in his situation.
He wants something and he thinks
words can make that thing happen.
Once I was his age,
I realized that words are unlikely
to change someone's mind.
They're only.
likely to seem creepy. He should know better. I don't think there's anything you can do now.
Interacting with him more will only make him think he has a chance. And someone else says,
he's a grown-ass man with the social grace of a middle schooler. We have to be friends now because
we shared an intimate moment. This guy needs a dose of reality. Also, OP, after that letter,
I would take some precaution. It scares me a bit.
Go with your gut feeling.
Something tells me there's something not quite right with this guy.
And the O.P. responds and says,
this is really what I find weird.
He's 30 years old, and he doesn't seem to get that a one-night stand doesn't equal friends,
and that his persistence is making it worse.
And yeah, totally.
I mean, like, this guy is just weird.
I mean, like, he's just being persistent when the O.P is making it completely clear.
she wants respectfully nothing to do with him she's like hey this isn't going to work out we don't
need to be friends like if someone says that to you especially like a one-night stand like why would you
just keep going after them over and over and over and over again that is just creepy and there's obviously
something wrong with this guy because anyone would be you know self-aware enough to be like well
maybe i shouldn't slide a letter underneath her door telling her why we need to be friends even though
she just told me explicitly no.
If someone tells you no, take it as a no.
Don't try to complain or change their mind.
That's just very weird.
And then the OPE comes back 11 days later and let's get into it.
It reads as follows.
I was hopeful there would be no more updates to this because he managed to go for about a week without contacting me.
I hadn't seen or heard from him for a few days, so I thought things were blowing over.
and he had got over it.
Then yesterday afternoon I was getting some stuff out of my car,
and I suddenly hear his voice say,
Hey, do you need a hand?
Of course, we were going to see each other again at some point,
and I thought I was polite with him by just saying,
Hey, no, I'm fine, thanks.
I really didn't think this was rude,
and I really didn't need any help anyway,
but he seemed to get offended by it and started to get mad at me.
He said something like, what's your problem?
I'm only trying to help you.
All I've ever done is be nice to you,
but you still act like a bitch.
Oh my God, bro.
Just pack it up.
Like, leave her alone.
This is like so insane to me.
It's like if someone says,
it's like the OP literally said,
hey, no, I'm fine, thanks.
That is not rude.
Like, unless she said it in like a rude way,
but still, you know what I mean?
Like, why would you not be like,
all right, no problem?
and then leave her.
Like, why would you go,
what's your problem?
I'm only trying to help you.
All I've ever done is be nice to you,
but you act like a bitch.
Like, that's crazy to say,
but let's continue with what the OPE was saying.
The O.P. says,
I think he said more,
but I was kind of shocked
at how he reacted.
He stormed off before I could say anything,
but I don't even know
what I would have said
as I was a bit stunned
and also totally embarrassed
because there were people around
who probably heard it all.
I was also a bit upset
because I know that he has allowed to feel a bit used or whatever, as he obviously liked me more than I liked him,
but I do think this outburst was uncalled for.
I have made my feeling clear to him now, and I know the truth hurts sometimes,
but I don't think he has to take it on on me like this.
This morning I woke up to, oh boy, another letter.
This one is quite short, and so I will type it out again.
The letter reads,
Dear so-and-so,
I want to apologize for shouting at you earlier.
I let my anger get the best of me
and I am sorry about that
but I can't help but get frustrated at your behavior.
I get that you're not interested in me
and that you don't want to be my friend
even if I do find it strange.
You aware of my feelings on this so I won't repeat them.
However, when someone is trying to help you,
it is good manners to accept it or at the very least be grateful. God, this is so weird.
Again, I'm sorry and I realize I need to think about the way I acted and I'll try not to do it again.
By the way, this is how adults deal with awkward situations.
They don't pretend they never happened.
Hope you accept my apology and the little bit of advice I gave you.
Oh my God, that is so weird.
Like this dude just needs to leave this girl alone.
Like the poor OPE is just being like harassed.
by this guy. Like, to be honest, if I was the O.P. here, I'd be like, all right, cool. I've asked
this guy super nicely and respectfully multiple times to leave me the hell alone. I would give it to the
police, to be honest. I'd be like, hey, this guy is just kind of harassing me because that's what he's
doing. And he was yelling at her in the parking lot, embarrassing her in front of everybody at
apartment complex. Like, I would be close to just being like, hey, police, let's get this, you know,
my track record going because this guy's obviously a cause for concern or report it to my apartment
complex and see if they can help with anything. But this guy is just a complete weirdo. But the
OP continues their post and says, maybe I should be grateful he apologized, but I almost think this
letter is worse because he is not even trying to hide the insults and is totally patronizing.
I don't know how to deal with him anymore. He seems to have gotten over his love for me.
but now has some grudge against me.
If he really thinks all this about me,
I don't even know why he even wants to talk to me and be friends.
It must have been like a month since we had intimacy now anyway,
so I don't know why I can't accept it and move on.
I kind of want to talk to him again now,
but I get the feeling that is what he wants me to do.
Should I just ignore him and hope he gets bored
when he realizes I won't give him any attention,
or should I tell him again more assertively that I want him to leave me alone?
I'm so effing stressed about seeing him again because I don't know what he's going to be like.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One person says it's time to move.
And the OPE responds and says,
I'm actually seriously considering this, but I can't really afford to.
Yes, I'm thinking this would be the easiest thing to do.
My parents aren't really an option, but I'm going to call my brother.
For obvious reasons, I haven't told him anything about this, but I'm going to tell him,
and I think he would help me out financially.
Some people recommend the OP to call the cops, and the OP says,
I did think about doing this, but I just don't know what I would say.
I had intimacy with someone, and now they've sent me a couple of letters, even though I don't want him to.
I just don't think they will take it seriously.
or I think I'll call them to see what my options are.
However, even if I can get a no contact order or whatever,
I don't think I'd want to live that close to him
and have to see him regularly.
And I totally understand what the OP saying,
like, I don't know what I would say to the cops.
And the way she frames it, I think is the wrong way to frame it to the cops.
It's like, of course the cops probably wouldn't do anything
if you're like, I got a few letters and this guy keeps talking to me.
Like, if I went to the cops, I'd be like, hey, this guy keeps harassing me.
me. I've asked him multiple times to leave me alone and now he's, you know, yelled at me and I feel
unsafe. Like, I feel like that's all you'd have to tell the cops for them to take you more serious.
I'm not totally sure. I'm not a cop. I don't work in law. But I feel like the police would definitely
take that a lot more seriously if you frame it as I don't feel safe with this guy, which I wouldn't
feel safe with this guy leaving letters at my door. And, you know, who knows if this guy wants to do
anything creepier, like wait at the OPE's door or do anything else.
crazy like that, but then the O.P. Post, another update a few days later, and let's get into it.
And it reads as follows. I had a request to update on what happened, so here it is.
Hopefully, it is the final one. Things have happened quite quickly since my last update.
I was still kind of undecided whether to write to him to tell him to leave me alone, as this would
give me proof if things went further or to just ignore him. Anyway, I called my brother,
who I didn't initially want to tell about all of this, but I thought I probably should tell
someone in my family. He was totally adamant. I shouldn't contact him, and I should call the
cops if he continues. So I took his advice and decided to not communicate with my neighbor.
I sort of regret telling my brother now because he really did not help the situation.
I had been out on Friday night and stayed over at my friend's house so I didn't get back until
Saturday morning. I came back wearing what I had been out and so my neighbor, it probably
looked like I had spent the night with a guy, so this may have made him a bit more angry.
He was in the hallway when I got back. I'm totally sure he had been waiting for me and said to me,
I don't appreciate getting threatening messages from your brother.
I honestly had no idea what he was talking about,
so I said that,
and I found out that my brother had sent him some kind of threatening message,
telling him to leave me alone.
He then was saying stuff like,
why can't you just tell me this yourself?
Why can't you at least talk to me?
I just don't understand you.
I responded with something like,
I'm sorry about the messages.
I don't know he sent them,
But I've told you, I don't want to contact me yet.
You keep sending me those letters, and I think he was just worried about me.
This is when he got pretty angry and was staying stuff like,
What are you worried about?
And how he had been trying to be nice.
Yeah, he actually said it.
He pretty much just repeated what he said in the letters,
but it was the real time he actually scared me a little.
I didn't really know what to do,
but then he called me a promiscuous woman to my face,
and I was like, F this, I'm not listening to you anymore.
Leave me alone and went straight to my apartment.
As I was walking away, he tried to backtrack and apologize,
but I didn't want to give him any more attention, so I just ignored him.
The first thing I did after this was talk to my brother again
because I was kind of annoyed at him for getting involved,
and I wanted to find out exactly what he had said.
So he got his Facebook from one of my friends and sent him,
him this message. You need to leave my sister alone. You are creeping her out. If you don't,
there will be consequences. So I guess it does sound a little threatening, but it is not as bad as I thought
it might have been. Even though I was worried that my brother's message might have been seen as instigating,
I decided that I was going to call the police. I waited until the next day because I was tired
and it had got a bit late after talking to my brother. I shouldn't have been surprised.
that I woke up to another letter.
I think he loves having the last word.
It's not very long, so I will type it out again.
And the letter reads as follows,
Dear so-and-so,
I'm sorry for some of the things I said to you yesterday.
I didn't mean them,
but the heat of the moment got to me.
I did feel threatened by what your brother said to me.
All I have tried to do
is talk to the person I lived next door to
after I had intimacy with them.
You've made it pretty clear.
You are not interested in me
and I have accepted that.
Then move on.
If you've accepted that,
then you don't need to send this message or this letter.
Like this guy is actually a psychopath.
But this letter continues and said,
however, I've explained to you multiple times
that I find it strange.
You don't want to talk.
So I think you could be more understanding
to my feelings.
Instead of just labeling me,
as a creep. I think we need to talk like adults in person because I feel so frustrated that you don't
understand what I've tried to say to you in my letters and the only way to do it now is face to face.
I won't let my anger get the better of me like it has previously and surely you must see this as a better
idea than getting your brother to send me messages. And then the OP says there was no way I was going
to talk to him in person again, as the last two times we spoke, he just got angry with me
and called me horrible words. I wanted the whole situation over now, so I called the police.
It was the non-emergency thing, and they were actually very helpful. I was prepared for them not to
care, and they asked me to go to the station, and I had to show them all the stuff he sent me,
the letters and Facebook messages, etc. They filed a report, and originally,
they offered to call him, but when I told them I didn't have his number, they said they would go and talk to him.
I just want to make this clear for those who responded to me before saying going to the cops was too far.
This is not a restraining order. He has not been charged or anything.
All I have done is file a police report, and we have both agreed to not contact each other,
and if either one of us contacts each other, then it will go further. I was sort of expected.
him to send another letter after this, but he hasn't. I know it's only been a couple of days,
but I do feel better about the situation now. I'm going to stay here for now. I might talk to my
landlord, but I don't think he would let me break my lease. If I feel like I don't want to stay,
I think my brother would help me out with money. I do feel bad about what happened, and of course,
I should have never had intimacy with him. The number one lesson I have learned is do not sleep
with your neighbor.
But if anyone reading this finds themselves in a similar situation,
I guess my advice is trust your instinct and go talk to the cops before they can be helpful.
And it doesn't mean they're going to start arresting people.
Anyway, thanks for the advice.
It was appreciated.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One person says, please be careful, O.P., really glad you contacted the police.
but this dude keeps escalating.
Do not be afraid to call the cops again at the slightest hint of trouble.
And someone comments and replies to this and says,
I really agree with this.
Please be vigilant, O.P.
This guy sounds so insane.
If he were a normal guy,
getting a message like that from your brother,
clearly indicating he made you uncomfortable enough to tell a family member
he was creeping you out,
would make him embarrassed.
But this nutcase writes yet another letter about his feelings
that he probably wrote and rewrote multiple times.
He is so frustrated you aren't understanding his letters.
He seems so determined to push some level of familiarity with you,
like he's entitled to being able to speak to you face to face about his feelings.
Entitled after calling you bad words.
What a POS.
I'm so glad you went to the police.
You did not overreact,
although I fear after they visit him,
there will be another letter.
At least if this happens,
you will have more ammo.
And another commenter says,
I would also suggest saying something to your landlord about this,
perhaps let them know that you filed the police reports
because this guy was harassing you,
would not hurt to have them simply be aware
just in case you end up needing to bring to,
break your lease over it. And someone else says, O.P., please be prepared for escalation. I would highly
recommend you get yourself some keychain pepper spray. When at home alone, keep a big can of Hornet
slash wasp spray always within reach. It has a 20 to 30 foot range and will hurt just as much as pepper
spray in an attacker's eyes. Maybe consider sleeping with a knife under your pillow too, just in case.
This may sound extreme, but I was in a similar situation once
when a guy just wouldn't take no for an answer,
and I never even slept with the dude.
He broke into my apartment by cutting through the screen on a screened in porch
where I carelessly left the sliding glass door unlocked one night.
When I tried to call 911, he grabbed my cell phone
and threw it against a wall and broke it.
He ripped my shirt.
I jammed my fingers in his eyes long enough to scramble away
and get a knife from the kitchen.
And when I plunged that into his thigh, he left, and I was able to call for help.
I too thought I was just dealing with a socially awkward weirdo, and not a effing psychopath.
It was even more effed up and traumatizing because this friend confided it in me that he had an STD.
And during the attack, he kept saying he was going to make sure I had it too.
So no one else would want to have intimacy with me,
and I would have no choice but to be with him forever.
Oh my God, that is actually nightmarish.
That is so scary.
Things can go from zero to bat shit in an instant.
Keep your doors locked.
Consider buying extra locks to add to your door.
If you have a sliding glass door,
get one of those metal bars you put down to keep the door
from being able to be slid open until it's removed.
Make sure your windows are locked.
Always sleep with your cell phone within reach.
For the longest time after the incident,
I used to sleep with my cell phone
beside my head.
The digits 9 and 1 pre-dialed
so all I would ever have to do
is hit 1 and send
if I woke up to an intruder.
Absolutely, follow through
and get that restraining order
if he ever contacts you again.
And then the OPE comes back
one and a half months later
and let's get into it.
And it reads as follows.
What a mess this all turned into,
but I really do think it is all over now
and so I thought I would do a quick final update.
Initially, I was thinking I would just try to stick out living there
until my lease ended, but on the encouragement of some of the replies on my last post,
I decided to talk to my landlord.
He was not really very understanding and was like,
you shouldn't have slept with him, which I guess is true.
But that's a crazy thing for a landlord to say.
like why would that like why would a landlord say that instead of like i'm sorry this guy's harassing you
and making your life a living hell like why would you ever say you shouldn't have slept with him like
that's a crazy thing to say in my opinion but let's continue the op he says he said there's nothing he can do
now but if i wanted to break the lease i could it would cost me two months rent as a termination fee
and i would have to give 60 days notice though he did say to let him know if anything else happens
So I left it, but I was living in like a constant anxiety of seeing him or that he would do something else.
Then I talked to my brother again and he said that my neighbor had been messaging him saying stuff like,
how does it feel to know your little sisters a promiscuous person and other intimate stuff?
I wasn't really sure if I could go to the police again with this because he wasn't directly contacting me,
but I realized I didn't want to stay anymore.
My brother agreed to help me come up with the money, so I thought that would be that, and I could get away.
Then maybe a couple of days later, I ran into my neighbor. It probably was just a coincidence.
It was going to happen at some point. The weird thing was he was being super friendly and asked how I was, et cetera, and didn't mention any of the stuff that had happened.
I found it almost creepier than when he was being aggressive, and I told him that he was supposed to be leaving me alone, and I wanted him
to stop contacting my brother.
He said something like,
I thought we had moved past all that.
This is when I seriously began to think
there's something really wrong with him,
and I just told him again to leave me alone.
Then, surprise, he sent me another letter.
I can't find her right now,
but it basically said there was no need to contact the police before,
and I hope you aren't thinking about doing it again,
but the tone of it was kind of threatening.
I went to the police again,
and things got a lot more serious this time.
I got a temporary injunction against him,
then there was a hearing,
and I got a final injunction,
restraining order.
Because of this,
I was able to break my lease
without the termination fee
with only 30 days' notice.
I stayed with a friend for a couple of weeks,
but this week,
I've moved into a new place
and finally feel like I can move on
from all of this.
Thanks for the advice on here.
it sure gave me the confidence to go to the cops.
And God, I feel so bad for the O.P.
Like, her life was completely uprooted just from like a one-night fling.
You know what I mean?
Like, I just, this guy was a psychopath and he really should, like, be on a watch list or something.
Because, like, he will probably do this to every other sort of, you know, romantic relationship he's in.
Like, whatever poor girl, like, is like, oh, well, I kind of like this guy and they talk to him.
like he's going to become a stalker and leave letters at their house and show up at random places.
Just so creepy.
And I hope the O.P. was able to, you know, move away, which it seems like the O.P.
He was successfully able to move away, but also just, you know, be left alone by this creepo for the rest of her life.
And, yeah, I hope the O.P.'s doing better now.
A friend's husband almost certainly found her Discord account, and she's gone dark.
To clear some things up, I am Canadian, so I know nothing about the intricacies of the U.S. legal system.
Two other friends in our group are American, and the other is Malaysian.
Our friend, she is stuck in an abusive relationship.
She can't leave because that means leaving her kids behind,
and she's not sure he wouldn't hurt the kids or not in her absence.
He will not let her work, will not let her leave unless it's for grocery shopping,
will not let her use his car, will not let her have her own money so she cannot save up to buy a car.
If she is not constantly cleaning or cooking, he will hurt her.
But is obsessed with presenting this affable family man image to others, including his own family.
He even prevents her from eating her own food because she, quote, doesn't deserve it,
for not keeping the place 100% spotless 100% of the time.
So she spends most of her time hungry,
but sneaks bites when she knows he's distracted.
The pandemic made his job a work-from-home position,
and he took full advantage of it to keep her under his thumb.
He is always watching her,
almost always at home so he can prevent her from enjoying herself
or force her to do chores.
It is always her fault when something bad happens.
The only time she can get some free time to herself is when he's sleeping, which means she's often sleep deprived.
She has no support system, no real-life friends, and her family is not an option because she is the eldest sibling,
and her parents had way too many kids, literally a full house, so she cannot count on them for help.
While he doesn't hurt the kids, they have witnessed their dad abused their mom their whole lives.
I've asked her repeatedly to call 911, and she said,
she can't because if her husband ends up in jail, which I doubt considering how abysmal the justice
system is at punishing abusers, she will not get alimony and child support. I don't know about
how the American legal system to say if that's true or not. She's afraid if she calls 911,
she will be out of a place to stay with two kids, no car and no job. She is also afraid
she will not be able to get a job above minimum wage because of the gap in a resume. I don't
don't blame her for thinking this. I can't physically travel to help her or even offer her a place
to stay. The most I've been able to do is donate money that she can stash away for the future.
At this point, I only see the abuse stopping if her eldest steps in when he's older and big
enough to physically overpower his dad. And that's if he doesn't turn out to be like his dad.
My friend's husband also had an abusive father, and look how that turned out.
Today, two concerning messages came from her Discord account, the first one reading as follows.
I'm sorry, I need to tell you guys that I am not a good person.
I have lied because I'm addicted to video games and junk, and I'm selfish, and I've gone behind husband's back to get it all off of it.
I have lied about husband.
I have lied about everything I've ever said.
He is not a bad person.
He is an amazing person that never deserved to be talked badly about.
I did not deserve anything from any of you,
so I will send any money you've sent me back as soon as I can.
I'm going to stay long enough to make sure you all have seen this message
and that you know the truth, that I am a terrible liar.
And then I will be deleting my Discord
and going to focus on making everything I can up to my husband and his family.
I don't want to be contacted.
I just want to be left alone.
to do the right thing for once.
I'm only responding to tell you
to not speak about husband like that.
He did not do anything.
Honestly, I don't even care
if you don't believe me
because it doesn't matter.
Just leave him out of it.
Don't speak about him that way.
It's my fault and I won't have anyone
talk badly about him any longer.
Please, tell me what I can do.
My other friends in our group chat
are also trying to look into it
what they can do,
but we thought about making a Reddit post
what increases our chances of helping her.
If you have any questions,
I will try to answer the best of my ability.
Edit, since people are concerned about me sending her money,
I've only sent her like $40 total.
Update, that's not much of an update.
We have not received their reply from her sister
because she hasn't blocked the friend that messaged her either.
One domestic violence organization said we shouldn't call the cops at all,
but I don't think we have a choice not to.
CPS has been called.
They took our report.
Police too.
They are going to do a wellness check.
We even left a number for them to call back in case anything happens.
Update two, the cops said she's fine and that the kids are okay.
And oh my God, this is such a scary situation.
I can't imagine like my friend on Discord, you know, like I think she's an abusive relationship
or I know she is an abusive relationship.
and then you get that message, which is obviously written by the O.P.'s, friends, abusive husband.
Like, this is a horrible situation.
And it seems like the cops didn't really do that good of a job checking because the OPE put,
okay, and she's finding quotes.
And so I assume the cops didn't do a great job or CPS didn't do a great job.
But now let's get into some of the top comments.
One person says,
I would call a domestic violence shelter that is in her area.
and ask them for recommendations about how to help.
The reason I'm suggesting this,
instead of calling the police for a welfare check,
is because if the police show up,
she'll likely not tell them anything,
and then he'll beat her for the police showing up.
The DV shelter in her area
might have some alternative solutions for you
that can help her keep her safe,
or suggestions for how to help her make an escape plan
if and when she is able to find a break in his surveillance.
They deal with this all the,
the time. They are the best to know what resources there are. And the OP response and says,
We did. They said there's not much they can do without a direct way to contact her. They put her name
and address on file, though. Another user says, consider contacting the CPS equivalent in her area as
well. They may put people in her path who can help her. I second to have any welfare check done,
but who knows what she would feel comfortable saying to police
or if she'd even have a chance to speak to them.
With CPS, they should do their best to speak to each family member
if your information meets report criteria.
Good luck and love to you and your friend.
This type of story is an all too common story
that never fails to break my heart,
but there is hope for her and anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.
And the OPE responds and says,
can they still involve themselves if we only have claims of abuse,
concerning their mother and not the actual kids themselves.
Another commenter says,
Are you sure this is all actually happening and not a fake scenario made up by a board person trying to get attention or a scammer?
You sent them money?
Honestly, this whole thing smacks of a storyline from a domestic thriller novel that I've read before.
And the OP response and says,
It's not outside the realm of possibility, but I've also known her for over 10,
years. That's a very long time to be keeping up a scam. The total I sent her was only about $40.
India, I don't think the scam theory holds any credibility, especially if the O.P. says they've known her
for 10 years. Like, come on. I mean, no one's running the scam for 10 years to, you know,
get 40 bucks. And another user says, I honestly wish you would have posted for help while you still
had the chance to speak to her. There are battered woman shelters that account.
accommodate women with children who were in DV situations. If she really wanted out, she could have
went to one and started the process of leaving him alone for good. I hope she figures that out soon,
and if she already knows, I hope she has the strength to leave him. And the O.P responds and says,
she almost did get out once, was even going to go to a divorce lawyer. At that point, he hadn't
escalated to physical abuse, but was emotionally and verbally, but then the pandemic happened. And he
coerced her into intimacy slash our word, though she never referred to it that way. And that's how their
youngest was born. Man, this is such a bad situation. And finally, someone else says, if you call the
cops and may make things worse, a welfare check is nothing. They go to the house. If she is there and says
she's okay, they will turn around and leave. She may then be held responsible for the welfare check
equals further abuse slash punishment. I did that.
that one time. The cops went to their house, asked the woman if she was okay, and felt safe where
she was. Of course, she said yes, her abuser was right there. The cops never tried to speak to her
alone. I don't know what I would do in this case. Maybe a better choice is to contact an abuse agency
that deals with this all the time and see what they advise. I hope your friend is safe. And the
OPEE responds and says, I know. I thought about that, but I don't know who else has the tools to
physically prevent him from hurting her, stuck between a rock and a hard place.
And then the OP comes back, 17 later's with an update, and let's get into it.
The update reads,
So, after the police were absolutely useless,
I remembered my friend told me that her husband made her check and deal with the mail
because he felt it was too much of a chore.
So initially, I was going to mail an anonymous letter with addresses,
and contact information of various local and national domestic violence organizations.
And we also contacted the 911 emergency cell phone bank,
and they said they'd make contact with a local organization in order to get a new phone to her.
No idea if that's still a thing in progress right now.
Her sister responded to us.
She believed us.
Apparently, they had their own suspicions he was treating her bad,
but didn't know the extent of it.
We told her we didn't think the cops separated her sister and her husband when doing the welfare check.
And my friend's sister definitely thought the same.
She's not fond of law enforcement either from the looks of it.
So the sister forwarded her mom's contact information.
We gave her, the mom, a link to a drive with all these screenshots we took of my friend detailing the abuse
so she can look at it anytime she wants.
Unfortunately, that's when our friend contacted one of us through Discord to yell at one of us.
First, through a call, then through chat.
Her family apparently were a bit more communicative as late, and with the welfare check,
her husband was extra suspicious.
She basically screamed to leave her alone, said she has a family that's relying on her,
and that she'll sue if we keep contacting her family, kept insisting that she was a liar,
that her husband is a good man who did nothing wrong,
and that she was going to be better for her family.
So he definitely threatened her with manipulative BS
about homelessness and custody of the kids,
and he is definitely the one behind the legal threat.
My friend didn't even know what her legal options were
when it came to custody and alimony.
Why would she suddenly feel confident enough to sue?
Anyway, we informed her mom about our friend's outburst,
and she said she understood and she would take it from here.
She thanked us for going out of her way to contact her family and that we did the right thing.
It's possible our friendship with her maybe ex-friend is irrevocably damaged.
I know my two American friends have been really stressed out by this whole thing.
Don't feel like talking to her anytime soon and I don't blame them.
Personally, I think it was fear for her kids talking with a side of brainwashing.
My parting message to her
was that if he strangles
slash chokes her
or has strangled slash choked her
she has a 750% chance of him murdering her
guess he didn't like that
because he snapped at me to stop it
there were little giveaways in the way
she was typing that was obviously him
the only way I can see us ever talking again
is if she contacts us from a new account
after months of being physically away from him
hopefully her family can get through to her we've done all we can and it couldn't have happened
without your advice and suggestions thank you so much for the help and now let's get into
some of the top comments one person says this is horrible that poor woman is going to get killed
and someone responds and says he was absolutely threatening the kids to make her make that last call
nobody 180s like that alone.
I wish they'd listened to the shelter and hadn't gone to the police.
Working with the family and local organizations has a much higher success rate and wouldn't
have tipped off the husband.
Even on the off chance, they got a decent cop who actually wanted to help.
They couldn't have done anything unless they'd caught an attack in progress or the friend
was willing to talk, which if the husband had her phone and the kids were no longer off limits,
wasn't going to happen.
And another person says,
it's so impossible.
I was in an abusive relationship
for five years,
and people trying to help
made things so much worse.
And I was so weak,
I was so scared
to get help without him to,
so went out of my way
to protect him.
No one can really help.
The police are not helpful
in the most part
because you don't want
your partner to be arrested.
They'll blame you for it when released.
All you can do is be there.
with no judgment for when she is ready to escape.
A big tool for them is isolation.
If you fall out with everyone around you,
then leaving becomes too scary as you only have them.
Perhaps play along and say,
look, don't worry about it,
I'm pleased things aren't bad after all.
In that case, let's go for coffee for a nice catch-up on the weekend.
See if you can get her solo by faking ignorance.
Also log everything.
She'll need all the proof of her.
of situations she can get if this goes legal, so it isn't just her word against his.
She won't be doing this, logging.
And someone replies and says,
It sucks because I want to respect her need for privacy, but at the same time,
I can't trust anything that is said on that account anymore because he has full access to it.
I just hope that, amid the repeated lies, there were a lot,
she saw my message telling her, we will always love her, and we're there if she needs to
talk. And this was the last update we have ever received from the OP on the situation.
And I just really, really hope that the O.P.'s friend was able to get out of the situation.
And also her kids. I mean, this is such a heartbreaking situation.
Not only is the, you know, the friend being abused and just, you know, taking advantage of
and all, every single other sort of horrible thing and beaten and possibly many other things.
but who knows what's happening to those poor kids.
I mean, this is really such a sad situation,
and I'm really upset that we didn't get an update or some sort of closure,
but we just have to hope the police were able to go and arrest this abuser
or CPS was able to come and save them all, or who knows,
but for now, this is, yeah, we have no sort of closure on this.
My daughter treats me like crap and worships her deadbeat dad.
throw away account because she knows my main.
My kid's dad died nine years ago when my daughter was 13.
She's now 22.
She worships his memory and often treats me very poorly.
I know I make a lot of mistakes, but he was an abusive drug addict who put us through hell.
I was able to shield her from a lot of it, which I am thankful for.
But it means she has very little understanding for all the
awful stuff he did. I have never said a bad word about him, and I am glad that she will always
have a perfect father instead of the deadbeat she would have eventually realized he was.
It still sucks that I have to take the brunt of her anger and trauma because I'm here,
an imperfect human, while he gets to be forever faultless. I'll always be there for her.
Imperfect, but here still. I love her more than words can express.
some days are just really hard.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
Someone says,
I think your daughter is old enough to know the truth.
She is an adult.
It might be the only thing that can save your relationship
because she is living in a delusion
that's making her angry and angrier.
Once kids know what their parents went through,
they begin to see them as real people
and not just parents.
She might be angry at first,
but she needs her one living parent so she has to let go of the dead one,
the false idea she has of him.
And the OP response and says,
I don't disagree with you, but I can't get her there.
She would just resent me more.
I'm hopeful she'll get there on her own eventually.
All I can really do right now is be here for her when she's ready.
Another commenter says, you don't need to tell her.
What's that going to do?
people act like she'll automatically switch and start worshipping you and hating her dad she's still young
and give her time to figure it out and the opi responds and says thank you the situation is far more
complex than i can put into a few paragraphs especially if i want to keep it anonymous most days are
better than yesterday i was just feeling down and needed to vent about the unfairness of it all
for a minute today has been much better
And another commenter says,
how much does she even know?
You might have done an extra good job
shielding her from the ugly truth.
And the O.P responds and says,
she knows enough to put the pieces together
once she's willing.
She'll get there when she's ready.
And then we don't get an update
for around six months.
But six months later,
we get an update on the situation.
And it reads as follows.
I posted a few months ago,
about my daughter treating me terribly while nearly deifying her dead dad,
who was extremely abusive while he was alive.
Over the next few weeks, she became more and more hostile to me.
She would also tell me about extremely concerning decisions she was making
and was starting to sound more and more unstable.
She lives on her own 30 minutes away near the state university,
so it was very difficult for me to give her the little bit of help she would allow.
Long story short, she ended up in an inpatient care
where she was diagnosed with mild schizophrenia.
She is now medicated and is doing so much better,
though still struggling in many ways.
Turns out all of the hostility towards me
was based on delusions she was having about me.
Now that she is medicated, we are back to talking nearly every day.
I love her so much. I'm so scared for what the future will hold for her.
This is such a scary diagnosis and it has not been all smooth sailing.
But I'm also just glad to understand what was happening to her
and to be able to get her the support and care she needs.
To the people who declared I was clearly a terrible mother,
and they knew exactly why my daughter hated me,
who demanded I tell her the truth immediately,
please let this be a lesson to you.
If I had listened to your advice,
my daughter might very well be dead right now.
Life is not a movie,
where there are always easy, obviously correct answers,
and nothing bad will ever happen
if you just do the right way.
When in doubt, choose to be kind.
You don't know the whole whole thing.
story. You don't know the perfect solution. Life is not as easy as Reddit commenters make it seem.
And now let's get into some of the top comments. One user says, that is a scary diagnosis, but
so happy she found help. Sending hugs. Another commenter says, as a psychologist, I want to assure you
that considering the fact that it seems like she got her diagnosis fairly quickly, after the
first onset of symptoms and the meds are helping, she may be able to live a normal life if she
sticks to taking her meds and meeting with her doctor and ideally a psychologist to accept
her diagnosis. Schizophrenia can cause brain damage during psychotic breaks, so I really hope
that she keeps taking her medications. Hugs. And someone else says, I haven't left to comment
on Reddit in a second. But this post is called to me.
After a long time of being misdiagnosed, getting my diagnosis of schizoaffective was scary, but ultimately helpful.
Make sure she is taking her medication daily and is going to her psychiatrist in therapy.
Her support system is what is keeping her going through this life, which is progressive with age.
Thank you for being in her life.
I hope she knows how much you care and love her.
And another commenter says,
as I posted in the original post, there's a genetic possibility that the biological father may also have undiagnosed and untreated schizophrenia.
And someone responds and says, about 50% of people with schizophrenia will also have a history of substance abuse,
with men being more than twice as likely to have that.
That plus paranoid delusions equals the late father.
Or he could have just been a POS.
Who knows?
Regardless, predisposition towards drug abuse is hereditary and substance abuse disorder has a high comorbidity with other psychiatric conditions.
If you are a parent whose child has a close biological family member with a history of drug abuse, please be upfront with them and stress the importance of mental health.
And this is the last post we have ever received from the OP and man.
Just such a sad Reddit thread.
But I hope that the OP and the OP's daughter are doing better now.
Neighbor is suing me because one of my horses nearly killed her kid.
She's suing me for around $5,000 and for legal fees as well.
Now, she let the kid climb into the paddock with my stallion,
who is extremely aggressive and territorial.
This woman has been told multiple times,
to not come on to our property or even touch our horses besides the stallion.
Is there any way I could make a counterclaim to it?
I have footage of her letting her kid pet the stallion and some of our other animals.
I could pay this off, but I don't want this on my record,
as I'm about to go and buy 10 or 15 more horses to fill in land at our farm.
I just need to know how I can get this woman to stay off of our property,
immediately so that this does not happen again.
And now let's get into some of the top comments.
One user says,
this is like the classic,
my neighbor's kid snuck into my yard and drowned in my pool cases.
Whether or not they have a claim comes down to their ability
to prove negligence from your end or that your animal was extremely vicious.
Did you have proper fencing?
Did you have any signage?
was a horse you knew to be dangerous in an area too easily accessible?
Have you previously allowed them to do this or similar?
If they had no permission to enter your property
and purposefully climbed over your fence,
then it'd be hard for them to prove from their end.
Your homeowner's insurance may actually have a personal liability clause in there
that covers you against these types of suits, by the way.
So definitely check there.
If you don't already have liability insurance,
you should 100% get it,
if you'll have many horses.
As for your property,
put up no trespassing signs and or a fence around the perimeter.
If you see her coming on again, then call the police.
In any case, you should get a lawyer to advise you on this.
And then the OPEE replies and says,
I have fencing all around my property,
and the stallion is kept in a paddock with double fences
just because of how mean he is.
We also have no trespassing signs,
and they aren't allowed near any of the property.
of our animals, let alone on our property.
And then we get an update a few weeks later, and it reads,
So my insurance ended up taking care of it, and I only had to pay around $2,000 for damage to my property.
Now, she was charged with child endangerment and abuse.
Apparently they found out that she kept them out of school and was using them to get money,
from her husband.
The stallion is also fine.
He also gets lots of treats.
And the top comment reads,
well, that plunged quickly.
And someone else replies and says,
yeah, the courts can be a pretty long process.
But if you have enough data like OP did,
then into the drain that neglectful mom goes.
And someone else says,
I'm a little surprised OP isn't countersuing
for the $2,000 they had to,
out for the property damage.
Also, I didn't think poverty damage was mentioned in the original post.
And someone else says,
regardless of if there's animals,
I cannot imagine just letting myself go onto someone else's property.
And yeah,
that is basically all the OPE ever posted about this situation,
but I just wanted to include it because, man,
did that escalate quickly?
And I just hope the kid is doing all right because,
like the court said,
the mom was charged with child endangerment and abuse.
So I hope the O.P.
And his horses are doing better now.
And same with that poor kid.
And all right, guys, that wraps up two hours of some shocking Reddit Threads.
And these truly were shocking.
I mean, each one of these posts was crazy.
And that first one with the O.P.
And walking in on her parents doing like the tease thing in her colleagues.
in her clothes.
Like, I just couldn't believe that post.
Like, that was just crazy and insane to me.
And I mean, just for the O.P.
To end up, you know, going to her friend's house
and then being, you know, kind of abused
by the O.P.'s friend's dad.
And just, he was a predator as well.
Like, so scary.
So, so scary.
And I hope that the O.P.'s doing better now.
And I hope that all of these OPs are doing better now as well.
Because, like, yeah, today's video is pretty heavy.
and just crazy and wild.
