Attention, come gently to the movement of the breath. Just carefully, with an intimate attention, feel the next three breaths. Continuing to feel the breath, feel the breath at the heart. Become aware of the state of the heart,
Starting point is 00:01:22 whatever mood or emotions are here. And as you deepen a listening and an attention in the heart area, ask yourself what brings you here this moment to practice, to meditation, to a path of mindfulness and compassion. What is your heart's longing? Asking yourself what most matters and patiently listening, feeling until you sense what you feel you feel most sincere about? As you enter this new year, what is it you want to remember? What do you want to manifest? How do you want to live? What most matters as you move through your moments? Letting the awareness gently scan through the body, areas of tightness or tension,
Starting point is 00:03:11 just bringing the awareness there so there can be a softening, letting go, letting the brow be smooth, softening the eyes. It's releasing the habitual tension and the micro muscles around the eyes. Slight smile at the mouth. It's relaxing the tongue, letting it fill. Lower jaw.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Relaxing down to the root of the tongue. Sensing the awareness that fills the shoulders. Relaxing them back and down and just letting whatever tightness or tension might be there, letting it float, let it untangle in the space of awareness. Softening the hands and feeling the aliveness and sensation from the inside out.
Starting point is 00:04:54 The sense of space and awareness it fills the hand. Let there be an openness to the chest. This feeling the heart from the inside out. Again, sensing the aliveness there. sense, the awareness, the space of awareness inside the heart, loosening the belly, letting the next breath be received in a softening belly, this breath and another breath and another.
Starting point is 00:06:07 And feeling the aliveness of sensation from the inside out, filling the belly, that space of awareness that's there, scanning down to the pelvic region. Again, feeling from the inside out, the aliveness, a sense of awake space, the interior of your being, sensing the awareness that fills the feet, the sensations and aliveness there. This is a cup is filled with water.
Starting point is 00:07:14 This whole body is filled with awareness. Sensing the whole body is a field of sensation experienced by awareness. Widening the attention so this field includes sounds, listening. listening in a global way, letting everything wash through evenly, sensing the space, the vastness that everything's happening in, this whole play of sound and sensation, the space that everything's happening in,
Starting point is 00:09:19 filled with the light of awareness, resting as awareness, open, receptive, wakeful space, just noticing the sounds and sensations, that play through you that arise and dissolve in this openness. Be the sea of awareness, aware of the changing waves. Naturally, awareness contracts
Starting point is 00:11:11 and forgets the quality of being open and sea-like and goes inside the waves of thoughts. When you notice you've been lost in thought, just simply relax open again. unhooking from the particular story in the mind sensing in all the different waves of sound and sensation relaxing back into the space that's awake that's receiving and aware of this changing life
Starting point is 00:11:53 if the mind's distracted let your pathway home be a kind of relaxing a relaxing open aware of the senses listening to and feeling this moment-to-moment experience from awareness, from a wakeful openness, the Tibetan teacher Talopa says, let go of what is past,
Starting point is 00:14:29 let go of what may come, let go of what is happening now. Don't try to figure anything out.
