And simply bring a kind attention to it. Simply bring a kind attention to it. You might feel the inflow and the outflow of the breath. And as you feel each breath, let the mind calm and the body relax. Now shifting your awareness away from the body, begin to listen to the play of sounds around you. Notice them all, those that are loud and soft, those that are most distant and those most near, listening not just
Starting point is 00:02:47 with your ears but your whole awareness, noticing how sounds arise and vanish living no trace, including the appearing and disappearing of the gone. Sounds arise and vanish, leaving no trace. as you listen, let yourself feel or imagine any way you can that your mind is not limited to the size of your head, sense that your mind is expanding, becoming huge, an awareness that's open like the sky, clear and vast like space, sense, picture or feel in any way you can that the awareness of your mind opens in every direction like the sky. Now notice how the sounds you hear arise and pass like clouds in the open space of your own mind. Relax in this openness and just listen.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Let the sounds come and go like clouds in the vast sky of your own awareness. appearing and disappearing without resistance. Sounds come and go like clouds or bubbles. You are the space of awareness. As you rest in this open awareness, notice too how thoughts and images also arise and vanish in this space, just like sounds. Let them come and go without resistance.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Spacious awareness has no struggle, pleasant and unpleasant thoughts and feelings. Also move through the space of mind like clouds, ideas, memories, joy and sorrow, arise and vanish like clouds as you rest in the clear, open sky of mind. Rest in this spacious awareness. It's your home. Now let spacious awareness notice your body as well. In the space of awareness the body is felt as a field of changing sensations. Pressure and tingling, hard and soft, warm and cool, vibrating and pulsing, all floating
Starting point is 00:10:13 in awareness. Relax and let the sensations float and change while you are at ease. Let the awareness be vast like sky. Open and spacious. Rest in this openness. Let sensations float and change. Allow sounds to come and go like clouds in a clear open sky when thoughts appear. Let them arise and pass like waves or clouds. The mind remains transparent, timeless, and without conflict, allowing all things, but not limited by them. And now let the spacious awareness be filled with love and compassion, compassion for all those
Starting point is 00:13:55 who lose their way, compassion for our own being when we don't feel at home. the sky be one of loving awareness and relax into it, dissolve into it, trust it. It's your own true nature. It's home in the silence. Relaxing back again and again, resting in the vast, tender awareness, allowing this rising and passing of sound. and sensations in the vast open sky of awareness, noticing how sounds arise and then vanish, leaving no trace, letting this spacious awareness be filled with love and compassion, sensing how this vast field of compassion can hold this very life right here, in all life everywhere.
