Welcome to the 40K lore cast.
Welcome to the 40K lore cast with me, John Barcotti and Bradchester.
This guy.
On today's cast, we're continuing our coverage of the Yanari with your reign's adventures.
That's what we're calling it?
Yeah.
Today's adventures of your brain.
Fine, whatever you want to do it.
I'm in for it.
The 40K lore cast is a weekly podcast releasing every Monday at 7 p.m.
Eastern time with a focus on the Warhammer 40K universe.
In the show notes, you'll see links to our website, the 40KLorcast.com, our Patreon, and our Discord.
For those of you who have not, please follow and comment on the cast.
For those of you who have massive thank you, it really does help our algorithm a lot.
It helps us reach way more people.
So if you like what we're doing, simply liking and then writing a BS comment of
blog is fine.
Actually, really any comment.
It's just the more comments, the more engagement, the algorithm says, cool, we'll let more people
know about this.
It's a big deal, though.
It makes a big deal.
So really, for those of you who've been doing it, thank you so much.
For those of you haven't done it, come on.
Come on.
Also, if you go to our website, you'll find the links to our merchandise, our Patreon, Brad's
coaching services, and now a link to Brad cheating on me with his friend Alan on another podcast.
Also, our merchandise better have my black hat very soon.
You know what I had to do?
Hey, John, remember the time that for the second time, I ordered my own merchandise.
Yeah, and I had to.
And you canceled the order.
I had to cancel it.
Unfortunately, the walnut.
Well, you should have seen how ugly they were.
The walnut hats, I had to pull off the merchandise because I was like, whoa, that doesn't
work at all.
I'm wearing one right now.
Yeah, but that's the old, that's the old logo.
Anyway, also we have a Discord, obviously.
That's a totally free service.
It was built with you listeners in mind.
It's a place for everyone to interact around the cast itself, really all things, but also
all things 40K, literature, gameplay, hobbying, memes, just, you know, painting.
Video games, role-playing games, any kind of just really or everything.
It's meant to be, the idea here is to be.
make up space or people who really do like Warhammer, especially from a lore perspective,
a place to interact. It's really good also for newer players or people who are newer to the game
because there's a lot of great advice coming in there around like good parts of literature to read,
good places to get things, et cetera. We've also got, I like the painting channel a lot too.
I keep putting everybody that's putting your picks up and you're talking that. I love to look at
projects in motion. Everything from your first time you've ever painted something to the end.
especially if your painting is a dark green or dark red on black.
You know what's true is?
I'm making a point.
So one of my coaching clients, that's one of John's friends.
Yeah.
And John played a game last night.
And I got pictures of it where he put his terrain that's the same color as his mat
and the same color as both of their armies.
And they sent me pictures of it.
And I go, is this, am I looking for the predator right now?
It was great. Brad, Brad, it was effective. We sent him a black screen. He might have seen just as much stuff.
So, yeah, if those who don't know, Brad is pretty bad colorblind, like multiple levels of colorblind. He's not quite a dog, but it's not that far off. Anyway, but on the Discord, though, I'd always want to call out Kevin, Nick, Masey, Brian, Ethan, Steve, Ryan, Trevor, and David. Those are our moderators. If you don't like them, and that's on you. They've done an amazing job, and they're the only reason we still have a Discord. I would have burned this. One of us is a crazy.
person is really, really wants to push the red button.
Yeah, yeah.
You have issues.
7,000 random people on the internet with a fake name saying whatever they want into something.
I'm ready to blow that up.
I could see how that might get bad.
You know who doesn't have a fake name?
This guy.
Yeah, you're Brad.
Everywhere.
It's because you're old.
It's actually funny.
It's always tell someone's age by their email address.
It's a matter of how many numbers are after your name.
That's what tells us what year you were born.
So the fact that my number is one.
Yeah, it's like I got there.
Also, I'm pretty sure I actually have Bradchester.
Yeah.
Speaking of that, Brad is also a coach of 40K.
You can email him via our website now or via our Discord.
It's just that.
Yeah, 30 years.
Just send me, send me something from Discord from the thing.
Yeah.
That website, my, sadly, and I have tears in my eyes thinking about it, my old email is pretty dead.
now. Brad made, Brad made had to take his email
up back and shoot it. So if you're listening to earlier
episodes and we're emailing him and we're getting a response
back, it's because you
got... I got hacked
and it got bot spammed. So
bad. Yeah. How'd you get hacked?
How did you get email hacked?
I don't open...
Don't, yeah. Did you
get an email saying important notice
and there's an attachment you clicked on?
The Nigerian prince had money
that was sitting in escrow.
I got an email. It just
said, important, please open. You went,
Okay.
No problem.
They said they had to verify my social security number.
Obviously, how else would Comcast send you and send you a wire transfer to make up to cover your FedEx package that's stuck in transit?
All I had to do was send my SOC and my banking numbers.
So anyway, for those of you who are looking to improve your game play.
By the way, I'm so much better at 40K than I am at life.
That's not saying much.
That's not saying much.
I'm trying to make people actually hire you as a coach.
And you're like, I'm actually better at 40K than I am at opening,
that not opening, like, shady email.
A little savant in 40K.
Yeah, it's, but in comparison, it's like you're basically,
you're at a C versus like, like, you know, remedial.
Look, when we were allocating points at the beginning of this game,
I put way too many in 40K.
And didn't, we go, but the things, usually when you,
when you build a character, you have enough to put some points in something else.
You actually took everything else to a one.
And then it took, they took the 40K to attend and then left the points.
I don't know.
I think my constitution is less than one right now.
Oh, yeah.
Your GI tract isn't a negative.
It is actually a negative.
Oh, God.
Anyway.
Where were we?
Brad coaches 40K.
Go to our website.
There we go.
That's all you get into this episode.
Five minutes in, we went off the rails.
Well, with that, let's get back to the Yanari.
So Uthway.
Uthway just showed up.
but I want to go back to what we ended with last time,
which the Uthway didn't slide into your DMs.
So the Uthway showed up in a pretty,
I'm going to wreck this place.
They Kool-Aid man into this.
I just want to set the stage for what just happened
because of this.
Well, yeah, I mean, it's funny.
It's right.
So I like this a lot.
So your brain is standing in like BLTAN,
which is kind of wrecking,
but she's just saved it.
And then a random portal opens.
It saved by duct tape and spit that out.
A random portal opens in front of her and she goes, my, and it's been hurting all of the
just step into it.
Yeah.
Anybody that's a psycher also kind of heard a sonic boom that came through this.
So upon arriving on Ulth Way, the Yanari are not, and this is important, they're not
really greeted with a ton of excitement.
So Eldrad and the Sears, they use their powers to bring the Yanari to their craft world.
But some of the Sears did this, not because they were convinced.
that the Yanari were the saviors of the galaxy,
it was more like a scientist who wants to see more.
They're like, hey, we're aware of this presence.
We want to know what the hell is going on here.
And they had a lot of concerns
that the Yanari were an upstart faction
that was actually going to distract and create problems
for the greater Eldar purpose.
They were also really worried
because all of this has ties into the infinity circuit.
Exactly.
So this is not helped by the fact
that the very first being that steps through the point,
portal is the Yinkarn, which remember has been in existence now for like, I don't know, 20 minutes.
Yeah, it's just one saying, what time is it?
Yeah, exactly.
They've never seen this.
And what was, I would like the description they did in the book around this because it was, it wasn't just what it looked like, but it was also the essence.
Because all of these psychers are Uthwa.
They've seen an avatar of Kane.
They're aware of an Avatar of Kane, or at least, at least, it may have seen.
But it's also easy to understand.
It is, if the Avatar of Kane is a shock.
of Cain. It is rage manifest.
Also, Cain has been, they've known of Cain, their entire, this is a new God.
And now there's this massive being that, so it's funny.
The model, if you look at, I actually went and checked this, by the way.
So I have both models, the Incarn and the avatar are about the exact same size.
Yep.
Which I didn't even realize it.
It looks like because the Inc.
is floating.
The biggest thing on this is because one's made of molten metal on fire.
and the other one is the polar opposite.
It's ice.
I mean, that's the idea.
So in the book, they were explained.
The Yen Karn, so when you meet an Avatar of Kain, you feel the rage and the hate coming off it along with the heat.
The Yinkarn was cold.
They actually pulled stuff away from you.
So it pulls the warmth away.
It's not just cold.
It actually absorbs.
As it moves around, they could feel the coldness of it.
Even the way it moved, like the avatar of King is very direct.
It goes in it because it's angry.
It's moving.
I'm moving that way.
hard, fast, and yelling,
whereas the avatar floats around,
like almost like a ghost.
It's a spirit.
Yeah, exactly.
Well, it also, it's essence of death.
It's sucking away the warmth,
not just the warmth,
it's the warmth of life.
Exactly.
Surely thereafter, though,
Yvrain and the Vissarck
and a bunch of her followers arrive.
And the Uthway are immediately taken back
more at the followers than anything else.
Because Yvrain comes through.
The Vissarc is a former ex-arch.
So they're, he's in goofy armor and is technically dressed like the mix between an elder and an incubi, but they're aware of it.
But then right behind her come Droucari, Harlequin's B. L. Tan, Craft World.
Coursairs.
Yeah, course, corsairs.
She's got everybody.
It's a, they've never seen anything like this.
Every walk of life that an elf can have, she has them.
Exactly.
And this is something where, I mean, a lot of these Wolfway have never seen that.
They go from craft world to craft world, you know, to exotite world where it is 100% one thing in each of those places.
Now you've got a collection together.
And this kind of collection is you don't even see this in the Kamara, to be honest.
I mean, you're Kamara.
You'll see individual things, but not like as if they were friends.
So anyway, we're getting to the part of the story that Brad hates.
Eldrad speaks first.
It starts welcoming the Yanari to the Ulth way.
and effectively offers the craft world's full assistance to whatever they need to do to wake you need.
Because he's a boss.
Yeah.
And at this point, the rest of Ulthway are like, hold up.
No.
Because Eldred is not, was not, and has never been the leader of the Ulthway.
I mean, pause, hold, please.
Brad Lelthew.
Sure.
I'm doing wild air quotes for everybody, as usual.
I'm doing stuff that you can't see in my audio only cast.
Eldrad is not the leader, whatever, dude.
They've been doing what he wants to do for millennia.
Yeah, and now they've decided to have enough because the truth is,
Eldar...
For two seconds, they had a little bit...
It's more than two seconds.
All right, let's get there.
Sure.
Let's get there.
Effectively, the seer counsel gets mad.
And they point out that Eldred's, he's just an old seer.
He's been part of the craft road for a long time.
And a couple of them point out, he probably should be dead
by now because he's like 50% crystals.
You know.
What?
Yeah.
So he's Bradge is old.
So he likes to support the old business.
Nothing wrong with this.
Exactly.
Eldrad's going to say ARP.
He's also went through some shit.
He has.
But their point is that is that effectively that he's getting sloppy.
You know, his, the move he did.
Yes.
The movie did was the reason.
Actually, I'll take that.
I'll take that into, into advisement.
The movie did was the reason that they're balking because Eldred did kind of go,
I'm all in and I'm not going to look at my whole cards.
And they went, yo, man, we're not cool with that.
And he didn't ask for anybody's permission or guidance.
That's the big one.
When he went and linked the infinity circuits together,
he did this actually behind.
No one knew he was doing this.
And if he'd been wrong, they would have all died.
And so the only reason that the Ulthwaven brought the Yanari here was to judge for
themselves.
They tell Eldred, so we can judge for ourselves whether or not
these guys are a threat.
And it was kind of funny to me,
this is funny to me,
because it was a time of the classic
and really important part of Eldar culture,
debate. So they immediately called
for immediate discussion,
because apart from sanitation,
medicine, education, wine,
public order, irrigation roads,
freshwater, public health,
what of the Romans ever done for us?
Also, if you haven't seen,
you don't know where that quote is,
just watch the movie.
It's so good.
Yes.
It's so...
The aqueduct?
I mean, fine.
Besides...
Well, remember what the streets used to be like.
So the Oldthway began to debate in earnest what they were going to do with the Yanari.
And this doesn't improve when Yavrain starts to explain her plan.
Because Yavrain tells them that in order to fully awaken you need and slay Slenash,
they have to collect the five-crone swords.
Which is awesome.
Yeah.
Which, by the way, I forgot to mention last week, in the process of...
creating the Yenkarn, your brain also pulled a cron sword out of, out of the wall of one of the
infinity circuits. So she does have one of them now. But doing that may have doomed that craft
world of destruction because that cronor was kind of critical. Yeah. I'm just saying. So the B.L.
T. We're cool with it. But honestly, I don't think the BL Tann knew that. Yeah. I'm not really sure.
Additionally, too, it now has two of the five swords because she pulls us out of BLTan.
And I don't really know where the Vissarck got his, but he also has one.
He just showed up with it.
He randomly has one.
Also, this is going to, can I rage about this just for a second?
I put some notes in here so Brad can rage.
I didn't let him do it last time about the incredible numbers that your brain sword does on the tabletop.
I'm powering up right now.
What?
The Crohn's swords, swords of sorrow, they all have names, actually.
Each one of them has a different amount.
The sword of sorrow.
So, yeah, let's let's discuss.
Well, it's hers is the sword.
Yes, let's go.
Let's talk about your brain's sword.
Let's do it currently.
Javrian's sword is the sword of sorrow.
Its power is when it strikes an enemy who turns them into ash.
She cuts through them like they're not there.
Yeah.
And it leaves ash behind.
Yeah, they disappear behind her.
It's like when Thanos snap.
That's what she leaves behind.
And she then absorbs their soul and their power into her after doing so.
She's wielding Stormbringer.
On the tabletop, it does two damage.
And it's also strength five.
Every now and then, it does two damage.
It's actually how I should say it.
I mean, come on.
Remember last week we talked about Yonari being overpowered?
Not all parts of Yonari were overpowered.
I mean, just...
I mean, the truth is, like, and the Vsarch's just as bad,
because his is called the sort of silent screams.
And I think also does two damage, is strength.
And also his sword doesn't just turn them to dust,
but he Voltron's people.
Yeah, so his sword, when it strikes to you,
you actually, he actually can kill you in silence because the act of the sword killing you
sucks actually all the, the voice out of you.
So you actually can't say a word as you die.
Yeah, you're supposed, it's supposed to technically collect everything from you.
Yeah.
And by the way, I did look up.
I couldn't feel for to jump at the Discord and tell you where he got it.
I spent 45 minutes on Reddit.
I don't even know that one because he just shows up with it.
Yeah.
Like if that was his prologue story.
Yeah, by the way, while I was.
while I was incubifying in the Encomer.
Well, also, the difference in power in the crown swords is a lot, though.
The Vizak sword is one-tenth the power of Yvran sword.
Yeah, and then there's the Yen Karned sword, which we're getting to.
By the way, so Yvraine comes and tells all of both ways.
She knows where to find the third and actually fourth sword.
Not the best place, though, it's on B.L.4.
And B.L.4, it's on Bileil-4.
It's on Bileil-4.
And for those who don't remember from our cast,
Belial four has a quick history.
It was a worldly edge on the eye of terror.
At the birth of Slinash,
it was consumed by the eye and taken into the warp.
The only citizen who survived was Mugan Ra himself.
Boom, daddy.
When, you know, it's actually before the fall of Kadia.
I forget how he got in there,
but basically Morgon sought into the eye of terror.
He surfed his place out of the eye of terror.
No, but he went back into the eye of terror, found all of his people, and got them out of the eye of terror.
Again, he surfed out.
Yeah.
So these people are now known as the Altansar, which is the name of the world before it was consumed by the warp.
And they're famous because they always speak in a very low whisper and they never take their helmet.
Yeah, because they're wildly corrupted, no one refuses to admit it.
No, they're not corrupting.
The Eldar, to Brad's point, to Brad's point,
The Eldar are terrified of the Alton-Sar because they show no signs of corruption at all.
Except for...
Except for the fact that they've lived in the war for 10,000 years.
Period.
Like, I know they look normal.
You're like, good to hear.
Good to hear.
Nope.
But what happens, yeah.
What happens is, so your brain's saying, all we have to do is come with me.
We're going to go to Al-Tensar, Belial, 4, and we're going to pick up these crone swords.
And Eldred, of course, like, yeah, let's all go.
this point, the seers just start screaming at him. And they make some very salient points.
Namely, that Eldrad keeps saying, I have foreseen the future. And this is what we have to do.
And then they just start calling him out on all the times he saw the future and was wrong.
Like, yeah, but he's been right, like a bunch too.
He has. But for example, Damascus, where he's where they're saying, well, what happened on Damasus?
And he goes, well, my plan was going to work perfectly until the humans intervened. And they're like, well, why didn't you foresee that?
humans intervening to which he went,
mum, mum, mum, mum, you know,
mumble, mumble, mumble, and he's still got
the best batting average of any farce.
He does. I was just really happy that G.W.
actually wrote this out, because if he keep going through all
the Eldraudas stories, consistently gets shit wrong.
Yeah, he's, and it's like, he's the greatest
farseer in the galaxy, and I'm going to,
like, he knew that Yvrain
would be on the
capital ship of BL10
and put a portal to there
to get her through there, but he
couldn't foresee that the death watch
we're going to show up and wreck him.
On the night.
Like,
that's just pointing out.
Like,
no.
So it was good,
good GW writing.
I crap on them a lot.
So this time,
they did a great job.
So anyway,
at the end of this.
These stories are good,
by the way.
These stories are really good.
Outhway do actually cast Eldried out.
They tell him that he's lost his status,
and they effectively tell him,
you can go do what you do.
We're not going to sentence you to death,
but you're not,
you're not a key part of us.
This is great for the story,
but this is also shit,
because,
he's been the guy that's been keeping Uthway relevant and safe for 10,000 years.
It's a really common plot mechanic.
I know.
They're taking the hero and they're making him have to go on a quest to regain his value.
Like, come on.
I get it.
But it's cool.
I do not read another book?
Like this is so many.
I know.
I'm just saying they took my favorite character.
They were like, hey, bad, you messed up.
And he's like, he, I would have.
I'm going to pause on that one.
Yeah.
I've done a lot.
Also, I don't even know who the hell of you guys are.
Not even have names, bro.
That is true.
He is a named character being told off by an extra.
Yeah.
Settle down, Tim.
Yeah, it's someone whose names are in the credits eventually of the movie.
Settle down Grip 1.
So anyway, the plot then, of course, thickens because the old, the old way decide.
as a group that the Yanari do not represent salvation, but distraction.
And the best thing for the Eldar to do is to keep doing the same thing they've been doing
for the last 10,000 years.
Aimlessly wander around accomplishing nothing.
And kick the Yanari out.
But then, drama.
Because what happens is, it's weird thing.
In the book, it almost seems like an alarm goes off.
But effectively, they're told another craft world contingent has arrived on Ulthway,
and they want to speak to the council.
and everyone does the, you know, mumble, mumble, who could it be?
Blah, blah, blah, blah.
It's the Altencars show up.
This is awesome, but this is-
Some people are going to think this is cheesy.
No, no, no, this isn't cheesy.
Let me set it up really well.
The next scene, remember, the story of Mangan Ra and the Al-Tensar has been in the game
for at least 20 years, maybe 30 years.
More since Mangan Rang.
Actually, it was before.
They didn't even have a model for a Mangan Rang, Rang, before the story.
Well, no, Muggen-R had a medal.
No, I'm saying.
And like his book.
What I'm saying is that this, the Alton Tsar in the store of the Alton Sarr has been part of 40K lore since at least the 90s.
At least the 90s.
This book came out in like 17, 16, 17, somewhere in that realm.
So this is very recent.
The reason I'm setting all that up is that the Alton Sars warlock steps forward to speak.
And because she's in a whisper, no one can hear her.
So she takes her helmet off.
And that's why it's the trip of a big deal.
We have had 30 years of these.
of them being in the lore, and we always
was rumor, well, why do they need and never like their helmets off, whatever?
And the GW stepped up and actually wrote it out and did up.
This is a big reveal for those of us who have been playing the game for a while.
So her helmet comes off and everyone can see what they actually look like.
And the good news is they're not corrupted at all.
Their appearance is not corrupted.
What they look like are dead.
They are, their skin is incredibly waxy and pale.
She'll look like a corpse.
That's how they describe it.
She looks like a corpse.
10,000 years in the warp
killed the bodies of the Altensar
but their spirit is what
their spirit's more powerful.
That's the thing, yeah, their spirit is what has kept them going.
The Altensar are effectively a spirit
locked in a dead body,
which is such a cool reveal
and was like, I got goosebumps
when I read this part of the book
because he's like, oh, crap, that's a really good way to do it.
Also, you have to be a pretty badass
to be uncorrupted and alive after 10,000 years.
Yeah, 10,000 years.
of like and your enemies are everywhere.
So the warlock named Gwantilian Oxblade, doesn't matter,
but it was a fun one and I try and pronounce it, speaks.
They already know who your reign is.
Well, I love this though, because again, everything is mirrored in the imitarium as it is in real space.
Yeah.
And you all knowledge is somewhere, which we talked about that and we talked about Zinche.
All everything that has.
happens is somewhere there. So you just have to be able to be, what they call it,
being tranquil and listening. And so what she, so the warlock comes out and says that
defeating she who thirsts is the most important thing for the elder. And she is committed to even
to help. Committed. Yeah. Yes. Well, she's about to go really hard. I was to say,
committed is probably an understatement. And what she says is, she says, I can't order my people to
go back to Bilal 4.
I cannot go back to
Balal 4, but my spirit basically
can. So she steps forward and she
pledges her allegiance to the Yvrain
and then cuts her own throat.
As she dies, Yvrain rushes
over and they describe it in the book
as it's not so much to hold
her, but they actually consume.
She consumes her soul. Well, she
did this specifically for Yavrein
two. This wasn't a
oh no, she's sucking her soul. No, she
cuts her throat so that Yavrein
can happen. And what this does is because by doing that, she's able to give over all of her knowledge
and her information to her right. So now Yovrain knows the layout of Alton Sarr. Then there's the
dumb cat thing. Sorry, I don't love this. For those of you who've seen the Yovrain model, she's got a cat with
her. The cat's called Agrinnix. It's, they are in the lore. It's a, it's a psychic, it's a psychic
boost race. Yeah. They're, they're familiar. When they follow you around, they make your psychic powers higher.
idea is cool.
Yvraine has a God inside of her.
She doesn't need a psychic boost.
Also, dogs are cooler than cats.
Man, don't get, we're going to yell that.
Don't get us yelled at.
I'm a dog person, but I just, that's not,
I have no issue with cats.
I'm a dog person, whatever.
I have one allergy.
Yeah.
Well, you have, really have one allergy?
Really?
One?
Yeah.
How is your body?
I don't know, pumping blood correctly.
No, my body's trash.
Yeah.
I didn't, but I'm not allergic to it.
I'm just bad.
I'm bad at living.
It'd be better if you were allergic to it.
You'd take a Zyrtec and stop having fucking arrhythmia.
Yeah, like, what are you allergic to Earth?
Yeah.
That's true.
I also have hay fever.
So I'm allergic to the planet.
Yeah.
There's that.
Yeah.
Anyway.
So Yavreen at this point turns to the Ulthway Seer Council and just says goodbye
and starts walking and just, I'm going to Belial 4.
And the craft world seer say, no, you're not.
not, effect that they try to imprison your reign and or,
which was going to go super bad, by the way.
So these two groups are about to basically go.
So the Ulthway Sears put like a force field around the,
the Anari to hold them in place.
And the Anari are about to break through this when the harlequins just also arrived.
Because apparently it's really easy to get into a craft world.
That's the thing I've discovered.
Like, you just kind of just show up.
Like the doors aren't even locked.
By the way, in lore, there's supposed to be so many wards and everything else.
And apparently, everybody's just showing up like, oh, man, another guy just showed up.
There are campsites in the middle of the woods that are better secure than this place.
So anyway, some harlequins just come wandering through.
And they're accompanied by a guy named Kaisa Duras, who is about as old as Eldrad, but different baggage.
Kaisa Dores, I don't believe existed anywhere in the lore until this.
moment in the book. He is 100% new.
Yeah. If somebody, actually, if somebody
could find a mention of him before then, I
know nothing. I know nothing about it. But
effectively, he's a very, very old
seer who placed himself in exile,
no reason given,
and has returned with the
Harlequins to speak on the behalf of the
Yanari. And he does.
And all of the Ulthwa kind of shut up
and your reign leaves.
But she leaves with... You don't like your reign model?
Yeah. It's awesome.
The flowing cape with the cat on it? Oh yeah. It's a
beautiful model.
Okay.
I thought you're,
you trash,
not.
I didn't sneak in from it.
No,
I'm trashing the cat.
I also do hate the bass.
Because it's that weird,
it's that weird oval long base.
It's just from a player,
from playing with it standpoint,
it's hard to move it around really well.
It looks cool,
but it doesn't go through walls well.
No.
That's the problem.
It just,
it can carpet itself.
So I said,
top knot,
which are awesome.
Yeah,
we both,
no opinion on top knots.
I know.
Look, there's my opponent.
I found it.
Yeah, I found it.
All I'm
So I guess I'll just, I'll aim six inches low and shoot you right in the head.
All I'm saying is top knots are awesome.
Yeah, but I'm saying if you're ducking behind cover, I can shoot you in the head to know where your skull is.
Feels useless.
You know who doesn't have a top knot?
Brad.
I'd have a top knot if I could.
You totally would.
I'm rocking that.
It's what every bald man.
If you gave them hair again, they're just like, I'm going to do the dumbest thing.
A hundred percent.
That's stupid.
Everything I'm going to have.
I'm going to mohawk this week.
Next week's a mullet.
You don't understand what I'm doing this.
I just.
You'd spend a week sitting in the couch,
just running your fingers through it.
Fabio that all day long.
Just to feel good.
We'll be right back after a quick break.
All right.
So Yvraine leaves Ulthway,
and she, of course,
as every time,
leaves it more than she came with.
So some of the Althansar do join her.
A large section of the Ulthway
listen to her and join.
And Kaiser Doris also just jumps along.
Yeah,
I was to say,
this isn't large contingent,
like a couple bros showed up.
Thousands.
Yeah.
Thousands.
Of,
She goes out of thousands.
So she goes, now, the thing about what they have to do next is just like walking through
the gates of Mordor, you cannot just simply enter a realm of chaos.
There are, well, it's funny.
It says there are no Webway gates directly linking to the Eye of Terror.
Those that are, have been closed off eons ago.
And then immediately they go.
Yeah, that's going to get completely blown up in a minute.
But I had to write that bit first.
I'm going to call it the fact that what I just said is objectively not true.
But they said the first bit, so I had to write it down.
They said it multiple times.
numerous times.
There's no webway access into the realm of chaos.
Also in this story, six pages later, they take the webway directly to the act.
Yeah, I'm going to keep saying it over again.
It has been written in Codex's forever.
There are no webway access to the realm of chaos.
Watch what's going to happen next.
But anyway.
So the Unari decide to just take ships and fly them in.
And this is a tough thing for the Eldar to do because the Eldar don't do warp travel.
So they don't have Gellerfields.
So they actually had to use their psychic energies to make a shield that not only prevented chaos from coming into their ships, but more importantly, they couldn't see them.
Because Eldar also don't have blanks, and they don't have blackstone.
So all the things that the Imperium and other races can use to hide from the Warp, it's only just the Imperium because the Tao are terrible at hiding from the Wharf.
Maybe we did the warp once.
Yeah, it didn't go well.
Um, yeah, it basically, the towel pulled off event horizon, but with an entire fleet.
Things did not go well.
I want to go into this in why this is such a big deal because the downside of, hey, we go into the war, all of these other problems, you just said are real problems.
Oh, yeah.
If Slinesh finds we're here, she's going to send all of her forces and kill all of us.
Yeah.
So they have to do this in secret.
So they basically use Webway gates to get near.
the Cadian gates and they fly right through the Cadian gates.
And, you know, but it's successful.
And it's cool.
They land them Belial four.
And upon their arrival, you know, the Alton's, I know what's going on.
Which had to be crazy for the Cadians, by the way.
Well, they didn't see it.
I know, but like the long-range sensor guys.
It'd be a lot funny.
You'd be like, are a bunch of Eldar flying into the eye of terror?
Like, should we call someone?
Like, I don't even want it.
I don't, I don't, I don't, this is.
I don't even know how to write this up.
Yeah, like, the Inquisition is going to show.
up, just let it go. Just let it go. So they land on Belial and a cool thing happens. So Yonari
look around and they realize it's empty. There's no demons roaming around. There's no possessed souls
screaming out. There's just ruins, at least on the surface. As they're moving around, the Yenkarn especially,
but also you have reign since something's there and they can't quite place it. Well, it's kind of cool
because they start in the books. They mention that the Yen Karn gets into basically fighting stance.
Yeah. And no one understands.
It's ready to attack and everything what's going on.
And it's just kind of like almost grunting, like something's wrong.
Luckily, there's a ton of harlequins with them.
And the harlequins are, I mean, I love the harlequins.
They're the best scouts in the game.
They're light years fast.
They're light years quiet.
So they all rush out.
And then they rush back pretty quickly saying it's a trap, watch out.
And as they say, it's a trap, watch out.
The trap pops.
But it's not demons.
It's Urgole, grotes.
tasks and pain engines come rushing out of the ruins.
It's the Jukari.
We're waiting and wait because we're going to now jump back.
While Yvrain has been on BL10 and then on Ulthway, Vect has been up to some credit.
Well, he's been government funding.
Vex's been mad.
So first thing Vect had to do was undo all the damage that Yovraine did to his wonderful.
Which was a lot.
Yeah.
Then so, and then get revenge.
So first, he ends the demonic incursion.
So he ends up actually got a cool.
He actually relocates basically Kamara to another portion of the Webway.
At the same time, and no one knows how.
He enlists the help of the mandrax.
Vect claims he enlisted the help of the mandrax.
All that we know is that these beings of shadow who speak to nobody
suddenly had a little bit of a moment and a ritual occurs
where a mandrake kills a demon,
and it's just the right number of demons killed.
I forget exactly how it goes,
but something akin to that.
And a horde of mandrakes arrive in front of the demons
and slaughter all of the demons,
which turns the tide.
Mandrax are the best.
Mandrax are amazing.
But this is like,
Mandrax, as we covered before,
mandrakes are like a independent of the warb demons.
They live in the shadows.
And so now...
They're the bogeyman.
And there are tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of them.
No one knows.
Just appear for this battle, appear for this battle and just slaughter all the demons.
This actually made the mandrakes even scarier for the people.
Oh, yeah.
Because everybody goes, hey, there's like what, 20 mandrakes?
Yeah, how many mandrakes could there actually be?
And then you discover, you watch them defeat the entire army of the search.
And then you went, oh, these guys are terrifying now because they could be anywhere.
Yeah.
So the mandrakes do this.
And this turns the tide next.
It rests control of Kamara back into the Jokar.
The same time, Vect is running a PR campaign
because Yvrain overpowered his forces and destroyed his realm and then escaped.
So she wrecked him.
She wrecked his realm and then escaped with no repercussions.
So no one's ever done one of those, let alone all three.
There's so much that goes into this now,
because people start having questions, and Vect goes on a wild murder spree.
He does, but the problem is he can't murder enough because there's enough people now
who are asking questions.
So Vect realizes the only way he's going to regain control of Kamara is to kill Yvrain
and absorb her power into his own.
That's it.
So he decides to go this.
But the problem for Vect is he can't take the real.
of another L. So if he were to get his black heart together and go after her and not win,
that's it. That's it. He might as well, he needs to just die when he does that because when he
comes back, he's dead otherwise. So instead, he goes, he needs to enlist, you know, one of his
minions for it. And of all the minions he has, the best one he has is Urien Rakarth, the head of the
prophets of flesh. Thank you. I'd forgotten it. A prophets of flesh. So he uses this.
Probably the most talented, but also, even for homoculi, he's mess up.
He's top five evilest creature in 40K.
He might be top three.
He's that this dude is whack.
That's what I mean, the other four are all demons.
Yeah.
That's something.
The other four are all, and none of them are corn demons.
I mean, I'm taking him.
He's, he is pure.
His name is something that you bring up when you want to terrify other people.
Yeah.
Urien is a mass.
And so the prophets of flesh are some of the,
they are the best flesh crafters in all of the Drukari.
So at this moment, the Yanari are just getting torn into by the prophets of flesh.
Now, the Yanari meet these guys head on.
I'm going to go ahead and let you guys read the book because it's awesome.
It's so good.
There's a couple key parts.
One of the ones I do love is there's some Talos come moving forward.
And Talos on the tabletop are fine.
Eighth-thage and Talos were really good, actually.
They were really nasty in eighth.
They're not so much now.
But the Talos just start shredding.
Anything and everything near them.
The Vissark sees this, grabs his crone sword, runs over,
and actually just cuts them literally to shreds.
Like there are literally pieces of Talos all over the place.
And he turns to Urien.
Urienne, Rekarth, opens a, like, Pandora's,
ox chest basically, and he's got a bunch of jinns in there.
It's pronounced gin, right?
DJ.
Jen.
Jen.
Okay.
This used to be something that was so cool.
This is in Warhammer Fantasy, not 40K.
Well, they have gin blades still.
Well, they still have the gin blade, and this is a thing in the lore, but they used to have
it as a mechanic.
Oh, yeah, very much.
In fantasy.
It comes from Warhammer fantasy.
It comes from the Dark Elves.
It actually comes from the Koran, but, and then it was used in D&D pretty heavily.
So these guys did it.
So the gins are weird.
They're a, the gins are an elemental being that's, they call them spirit energies, and they're in
between warp and non-warp god powers, kind of like the Eldar gods.
Because they're not cool dudes, the dark elves often just use them to jam them in a weapon.
Yeah.
Yeah, the weapons are good.
So the issue is that, again, why he's such a douche, he started these.
Gin in weapons tortures the gin forever while it's in the weapon.
Of course it does.
Like, why wouldn't it?
Why wouldn't it?
What's really cool about this is the Vissarck can't fight the Jinn,
because they're actually not a real being.
You can swing a sword at them, but they're a spirit.
So they're about to kill the Vissarq when the Yinkarn burst in the scene.
And I love this because the dead Talos effectively, as a bunch of them together,
effectively created an energy of death that summoned the Yinkarn and it was able to manifest there.
So for those of you who play the tabletop, this is where the rule comes from,
where the Yen Karn can jump somewhere on the board after something dies.
Not just its own forces, anything.
That rule made sense, GW, stopped taking fun things away from me.
I get it was abused, but it was thematic and was literally in the book.
So, wait, the arrival of the Yinkarn does a couple, two, a few big things.
First, it slaughters the gin.
With a quickness.
Yeah, it literally grabs them and pulls them apart.
Yeah.
The next thing it does is as it turns, the drool,
When the jukary notice, they can actually see the souls of their dead, of mainly the homuncularly
contract being absorbed by the Yenkarn.
At which point, the Jukari run away.
Because they've never seen this before.
It's two parts.
One, it's some crazy weapon they've never seen.
Two, all of the Dracari have clones and ways to come back.
You can't come back if the crazy spirit entity sucks your soul away.
Yeah.
The Jukari basically decide that that.
is scary, but what I just saw happen is way scarier.
I just watched my people lose their soul.
I've never seen that in combat ever.
I'm out of here.
And so they bail.
But the third effect was the bigger one.
This made a lot of noise and created a lot of psychic action.
At which point, kind of like that scene in Lord of the Rings,
where the ring hits the lava and the eye snaps,
Slanesh now all of a sudden realizes everything is going on.
Sleesh is doing a lot of stuff, but the main thing that Sleash does is look for Eldar she can kill.
Yeah.
And so now the skies above Blyle explode.
So this is Gathering Storm Part 3.
Read it because what happens next is this insane war occurs between these two.
The skies open up.
And remember, we're in the warp.
there's no limitation on what what she can throw at them.
And the thing is, is that this is also a crazy battle for the Eldar because the stakes have never
been higher.
Because if you die, you effectively have no chance to be.
You should.
That's what makes, that's what makes this battle.
That's what they think.
Yeah, the Eldar or the Eldar is sitting there.
When you're seeing this, you're like, oh, no, I'm going to be a, if I get killed,
I'm eternally killed.
There's no coming down.
And what ends up happening instead is, and we'll get to that in a little bit,
does it say Slaneh has kind of a bad day?
So the Unari forces get corralled into what they call it Great Depression,
which I don't mean like,
they're not sad.
It's just it's an indent in the ground.
They were in a crater.
Why is it a Great Depression?
That's what they call it a great depression.
I know that they did,
but I'm just like,
so they're in a crater?
Yeah, the crater, yeah.
They're in the inverse of a mountain.
They're in the inverse of a hill, especially what this is.
All right, I got it.
So we're downhill.
Got it.
So the forces of the Ulth Way,
who are also there, were cut off and separated from the Yanari.
At the height of the battle, three greater demons of Slenes show up.
The queen of suffering, great name, and two keepers of secrets.
As the queen of suffering comes forward, the Yinkarn leaps out and decapitates one of the
keepers.
As the Yinkarn turns to kill the next one, though, the other keeper grabs her, and the
queen of suffering kills her.
They basically, they stomp her, they stomp the Yenie to death.
They stump the Yinkarned.
This is wild, though, because
Slanesh is thinking that this is feeding her
the entire time, but
it's exactly the opposite.
At this moment, Slenesh realizes something's wrong
because each, she's getting,
remember, she does, she can almost, it's like
eating something, there's no flavor.
She's getting nothing. Like, wait, why am I not getting
any flavor? Why am I getting any satisfaction?
It's because every Eldar that's dying
is being absorbed by your brain
and you need, or Kegarak.
And so this battle
going and Sleinesh is killing hundreds, maybe thousands of Eldar.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
And what ends up happening is each death is feeding Yanari more and more.
And it's sucking away power from Sleash.
And what my favorite parts of this is that Yonari themselves find themselves fighting
against Slinash demons where their impression of the Slinash demons is that they are sluggish
and weak because there's so much power flowing through that.
say, it's not that.
They are so much faster.
That was my point.
They go, oh, these demons are losing power.
You're like, no.
Your power is.
We discussed this in the last episode where, you know, the BL10 when they were attacking
the Slenash demons, the Sleche were so quick they were able to actually grab the BL tan
from their lightning strikes.
Not here.
The Yonari are now slaughtering the Slenash demons.
But, you know, there still is a couple greater demons.
But also the coolest thing that, this is.
I don't know if it's the cool thing in the book.
This is super cool.
This part's really cool.
So while this battle is unfolding,
Yvrain notices something.
And what she's noticing is that it's not as a,
she watched this battle.
Well, back it up.
She's watched this battle,
but she starts to see the dance.
What happens is Yvraine is looking around at everything happening,
especially the harlequins near her.
And she's seeing all the battle going forth.
And she's,
she realizes she's seen this battle before,
what she's sitting,
and she's seen the battle for.
And she realizes,
what she's witnessing is exactly the performance of the harlequins performing the final battle
with Slenish called the Final Act, which Lievrain's seen probably thousands of times in her life.
And she realizes she can actually predict the movements of every single harlequin, demon,
Eldar, everything around her, because it's the the harlequin dance that they've been doing for thousands of years is this live fight,
which is just really cool.
So Yvrain, it's like Neo and the Matrix, can just move through the battle untouched.
Almost carefree, too.
And so.
Because, well, she's not even picking part of the battle.
She knows the battle's happening, but she starts feeling where the sword is.
And she just, well, she just ignored.
People are swinging at her and she's just.
Just leaning to the left.
Brad just leaned to the left.
So Brad just wants to go.
Brad said, people are doing this thing.
And she just, and then he stopped speaking and lean to the left.
left because all of you could see that movement.
What?
God, I mean, we're eight, 79 episodes in.
How are you still bad at this?
I feel we really sum that up at the beginning.
Anyway, so Yvrain senses the sword and begins moving towards it.
As she reaches this major site of power, the greater demons also sense her movement, and they
launch themselves at Yvraim.
Only to discover that something else had found.
the sword first. Out of the ground,
bursts a Yen Karn, holding the most powerful
crone sword, the sword of souls in the galaxy,
leaps up, cuts the queen in half
with the sword, and then just insta-kills the other
keeper of secrets. How are you not saying that
he Voltroned it? Because you're old and I'm not
kidding. I mean, you are old. I'm just older.
You're old up to have watched a Voltron on TV.
True story. Yeah. The Yen Karn then just starts
slaughtering all the demons around it.
And the hordes, the problem is the hordes of demons are endless norp.
So the unari, it's just weird, but the battle is turning in the favor of the Anari,
but there is an unlimited amount of supply, yes.
But also, we claust over this a little bit.
This is also the Incarn 2.0.
Oh, the Incarn, yeah, the Incarn.
Because the Incarn, because the Incarn, you can kill the, whereas the Avatar of Kane,
I'm actually not sure what happened to you kill an avatar of Kane.
I don't know if it goes back to a shard or if it's gone.
I actually don't know that.
But the Yen Karn I know always comes back.
Yeah, and it goes back full.
You lose nothing when the Yenkarn dies.
Because it just goes back into your name.
I mean, that's one rule they didn't give us.
They didn't last, that's one thing that the Yencarin can't do the table top.
Regen, baby.
Could have done it on like Ingram.
We could have rolled a couple sixes.
Oh, God.
Oh, it would have been so big.
Because, you know, they would have written it wrong.
Like, oh, you can use three fate dice.
Everyone's like, I guess I'll just do that every game.
So your brain calls for a full retreat,
and they start running towards the nearby ruins.
this again, this scene just gets even cooler.
So these long, so these old ruins from obviously the former Eldar world.
So they are, they've got these long, cold hallways.
And the Eldar realized they can use these hallways in the killing fields.
As the demons come in, they just start, they basically shoot them down.
The Harlequin just leap in front and slaughter anything.
And they retreat a bit further and a bit further.
But cooler, though, is that the ruins weren't all done.
I love rate contracts so much.
This is amazing.
So all of a sudden, there's a push.
of demons coming down a hallway, and they just get obliterated.
And at the back of the hallway, the Yanari see movement.
And what these were were, these were wraith knights with sun cannons.
Those were cool for a minute and start of 10th edition.
Also, these are from IANDA, which is awesome.
No, these ones weren't.
You're mixing it up.
Oh, that's true.
These are the, sorry.
Yeah, the knights were always there.
Always here, yeah.
They sensed Eldar in danger and woke up.
The original ones are the guardians of this.
They woke up.
So there are, I think, two or three wraith knights are now blasting the demons.
But as your brain looks back, she realizes that at the feet of wraith nights, by the way,
wraith knights on the tabletop are not sized correctly.
They should be three or four times that size.
Huge.
Like, knights are sized about right.
They're fairly close, but not them.
So the wraith knights are not sized correctly.
but she realizes that near the feet of the constructs are more wraiths,
but these are not relics.
These are Iyanda.
I say that you're sorry.
Yeah.
These are the Iynda.
And these are wraith lords, wraith blades,
Raith guard, the, all the forces of the,
and these are all the constructs are old Eldar that have passed that they've put in gems
into these constructs.
And they, again, wraith are sung basically into existence.
Yeah, there's always a spirit seer helping them.
And this whole scene, by the way, I'm not going to do it justice.
We're not going to tell it.
We're not going to do it.
Read the book.
The whole scene of this escape is incredible.
But Ayanna Arianal, who's the greatest spirit seer of all of Ayyandon, is standing there
with these rates.
She'd heard word of the, their Yonari, and she knew where they were, and she went there
to help.
And she activated a long dormant hidden webway, weird, that went right into chaos, weird, and
used her massive cadre of wraith blades, wraith guard, the reds had said, all the
race, they build this impenetrable field that the Eldar can move through.
But of course, the fourth, because race, by the way, tabletop, they're not.
In the lore, they're light years fast.
Oh, yeah.
It drives me nuts.
I hate, so I own a bunch of race.
I never play them because it just depresses me because they've got crap movement and not
that many attacks.
In the lore, they are this, they're basically a dreadnought that moves at the speed of an Olympic
spreader.
Yes.
And for people always ask us things to read and stuff like that.
Warhammer Plus has a, is Hammer and Bolter episode with a warlock getting, talking to a spirit.
Yeah, a spirit.
That's in a wraith construct.
And it's fantastic.
So they, they use this shield of rates to go through this webway, which by the way goes right back to I hand.
So I point out, there is a Webway portal.
There's two of them.
Yeah, in the realm of chaos that goes to a craft world.
Yeah, not close.
Anyway, but as they do do it, they do blow it up behind them.
So whatever.
So now there isn't anymore.
So as we're saying, from that battle, two main things.
First, Slanesh is infuriated, but she's also afraid.
Well, I was up to say, the bigger thing, Slinish is always mad about something.
She's afraid.
She's now afraid for the first time ever.
Yeah.
She realizes that she got nothing out of this.
Well, I could also, I could die.
I could die.
But the other, the bigger piece here is that is the fear of her rivals discovering this.
Because now she's been exposed.
Slanesh, like the Droukari, has to, have to torture to stay alive.
Slanesh, one of the negatives of her is she has to consume souls to stay alive.
That is her power.
maintainer power and a huge amount of them.
And Nergel gets powered by just death in decay.
It's when Nergel is the most powerful of
the chaos gods.
Ah, corn is the most powerful.
No, it's...
Nergel is waxed and Wayne, but the current canon
is corn is the most powerful. Yeah, it's not.
It's all war.
It's, it's... It's... It's no. It's... It's number two.
Zinche is number three.
Zinchenchenzsch move around between...
Although, it's...
Slinash can't, at times, is the most powerful
because of, you know, right after the horace
heresy, those types of things.
For most of the time, Slanesh has been considered the youngest and the weakest
of that.
And the thing is because Slanesh has the hardest way to get things.
She has to actually consume the souls to really get the power.
The things of Slenish, she does get power from the materials in the itarium, but it's
not as power.
Her main thing is eat Eldar.
So now she can't have it.
And I want to point out, this is likely the great game Kegarak was always going to play
with Slanesh.
If Slanesh kills all the Eldar, then she will starve.
and the same time empower you need.
If all the Eldar die,
you need becomes more powerful.
Slanesh gets weakened and Unite kills Slanesh.
And frees the Elr.
Yeah.
If Slanesh wants to survive,
she has to preserve the Eldar
so they don't feed Yenid.
And in doing so, by preserving the Eldar,
she won't have souls to eat,
so then she will starve,
allowing Kegarak to kill her.
So it's a cool that,
for those who think like Yenid is actually
Slenesh.
this is why I don't think it is.
This is way cooler to me.
So the only option left to Slanesh,
because she realizes she has to kill your brain and the incarn.
And sever you need link to the material.
And she go weaches out to one of the coolest models in 40K.
Shaloxi Helbane?
Woo!
So Shiloxi was imprisoned within Sunnash's realm to be tortured for eternity.
And this was her punishment for losing a battle to the Grey Knights.
Yep.
So that's just viewed, because she means to be very, she is a greater demon.
She was not happy that a greater demon failed against the Imperium and wanted to basically make an example out of Shalaxi by torturing her for eternity.
But Shalaxi's also the greatest hunter of all the Slanesh forces.
She's a greater demon bounty hunter, basically.
Exactly.
So Shalaxi sets out and sets a trap.
Shalaxi knew what Yerang needed was the chrome swords.
And she knew that there were two Kron swords in Bile four.
So while Yerraine and her forces were fighting,
Shaloxi went over and stole the other
Kron Sword and took it back to the palace of
Slanesh. This is such a wild deal on this, too.
So if you've reign now and her followers, if they want to kill Slanesh,
they're going to have to go to Slanesh's
home to get her.
Which seems bad newsbears.
I feel like that was one of the Zelda games I had to do that in.
I think it was a Zelda game where I had to go to the main guy's temple
to steal my sword.
I want to say on carrying.
That was on carrying of time.
The Super Nintendo one.
Maybe I'm wrong.
There's definitely an RPG I've played where I had to go do this.
I'm 100% of that.
And it was at their place.
Yeah.
You're like, you should have just been there.
Yeah, or just break it.
Or put it not at your house.
Break it.
Again, or just don't keep it at your house.
You can only be killed by this weapon.
Don't keep it where you live.
Or just break it.
Or break it.
Break it.
Anyway, so with Slinesh safe, Shalaxi then sets off the next part of her plan,
which is, you know, getting to Yvrain so she could pounce and kill her.
She had to wait for the right moment.
And that was coming pretty soon, but not before Ayyndon.
So upon arriving on Ayyandin, Revereign discovers a craft world that's at full war.
There is, shortly before their arrival, two massive bloated space hulks arrived.
This is Nergel.
This has, Nergel's just, by the way, this is Nergel just doing Nergel stuff.
This is not, this has nothing to do with him knowing about the, the Yanari, because he didn't.
This is just Nergel doing Nergel stuff.
And so these massive spacehulks, which were really calm at the end of seventh and early
eighth, I think Nergel, that's when Nergel was his strongest, right?
Nurgle is the strongest going at eighth.
Yes.
Because that was the destroyer, the destroyer play.
But it's a big deal on this because the space hulks were one of the big plans.
I mean, Typhus was behind a lot of this.
Yeah.
where they just wanted to corrupt spacehulks,
and the spacehulks are just so huge.
Yeah, and they float around.
And they just send them.
And so these things are cool.
These giant spacehulks,
as they get close to A&D and burst forth
with these just endless wades of plague flies,
with their riders, demon princes,
Nergal demons.
And Ayan is still fractured,
because as we covered in the Eldar cast,
Iyandan took a walloping against the tyrannes.
They lost 70-something percent of them.
survive, but catastrophic losses.
Kind of.
The majority of their forces were, it's always great.
All right.
G.W. will say it the majority of their forces of reith.
It is now, right.
They were known for the wraith.
And after they took catastrophic losses, this is.
Yeah, now they're even more.
Now they're more.
So now that being said, they're still not weak.
And so they were not going down to the forces of chaos without like an epic battle.
So your reigns arrival, the crap is funny, though.
So actually, let me say it better.
The Ayanden are just taking it to these space hulks, by the way.
There is stuff.
There's tons of conflict up in the sky.
And there's some great stories of them just slaughtering demon princes, like flying demon princes in space.
It's a cool book.
But Yavrein arrives.
Nerva is getting its ass kick, by the way.
I laugh at it because your brain arrives in the crowd's world.
And the basic viewpoint of Ayanden is we don't have time for this shit looking at her.
You go sit over there.
And so Yovraine goes, well, we're here to fight.
And they go not, what they say is, okay, cool, those of you who are harlequins, there's some
harlequins over there, go fight with them.
Those of you who are aspect warriors, we have our own aspect warriors.
Go fight with them.
Those of you who are Dr. Ocari, go F yourselves.
Get out of here.
Yep.
Like, nope.
Like, you guys get to go.
So Yavrein comes and says, well, no, we fight as one.
And Yiandan says, okay, then you can all go sit in the corner.
Like, like, Iyandin is full-blown.
We don't have time for your crap right now.
go sit in the corner or do what we tell you, that's it.
And your brain to her credit realizes that a civil war breaking out in the craft world is not
going to help.
It's going to make Nurgel win.
So she just kind of takes her imprisonment and walks off, kind of.
We'll get to that in a second.
The war is raging and the craft worlds of Ayanden are doing a really good job of like, you know,
they've got crimson hunters swooping hawk.
They're wrecking them.
I mean, it's a really good thing.
They're wrecking.
But let's call it up.
What they're doing is they're wrecking the invasion.
So as the demons of Nurgal and the followers of the Nurgo are coming out of the Spacehulks,
Iandans wrecking them.
But the Space Hulk is still coming.
The Space Hulk still moving towards it.
At this moment, behind basically the smaller of the two Space Hulk's, a bunch of Eldar ships appear.
And it's Corsairs.
It's Yvrain's old Corsair fleet arrives.
Because they knew the Pirate Code.
Exactly.
Oh, exactly.
And she knows, because they knew where she was going and they arrived.
and they just open up on this space hulk and just blow the thing to shreds.
And also the space hulks are huge, gigantic, powerful, but they're also a bunch of ships stuck together.
Yeah, and so they find, they basically shoot their way into the core of it, and it blows up with a force, like a bunch of atomic bombs.
But that's only one of two space hulks.
And the second one is on a direct collision course with IAND.
And, I mean, again, the writing's good.
It's kind of predictable, but whatever.
And the bigger problem is it's too big to kill.
The forces of Ayandan, the force of the corsairs are just shooting at it, shooting at it.
And it was something like, I think in the books that we think of almost 100 years to shoot the thing down.
And they had like 45 minutes.
I know.
We're going to get into something that really bothers me.
Why is there no Prince Uriel model?
Let's get there.
I know.
Uriel arrives.
So out of nowhere, Prince Uriel after the events of the first battle of Ayyndon,
went back into exile, and he now reappears again with his fleet.
With his monocle and his sleep.
With his monocle.
And he did have an amazing model.
Yes.
They've taken so many of our fun models away.
He has the spear of twilight.
Yeah.
He's like critical to the current lore.
Yes.
And they're like, nah, let's just remove him from the game.
God, pisses me off.
So, Uriel knows that the only way to stop the Space Hulk is to destroy its core.
And there's no way to fly a ship into it.
it because a direct boarding action, you're just flying into an endless sea of just plague drones,
whatever, you call it whatever, you literally, you cannot get there. So Uriel comes up with what is maybe
the most epic plan of any Eldar ever. This is Han Solo S. crazy. So he does this insane calculation
and realizes, so this is the first time that I even realized that the Webway over,
overlapped with the material. And he really, it's in a both. That's the point. So what he does,
is he takes it, they do a math point,
and they figure out that if they go into the webway,
if they go to the exact right spot,
they could then come out of the webway inside of the ship.
In the middle.
And so they do that.
So he jumps, they all run into the webway gate,
the back of their ship,
and they navigate to this exact spot in the webway,
and they all activate their personal webway teleporters,
which, again, didn't know they had.
Also, by the way, super hilarious,
because if this is start,
trek all the way because so many red shirts died.
Oh, a bunch of red shirts died.
So, yeah, a bunch of dynast because they rematerialized inside of a wall.
Are you a named character?
No?
That's going to be rough for you, brother.
So Uriel and his forces, but Uriel, of course, survives with a small contingent of forces,
and they're just standing in the middle of this ship.
And they start heading towards the core.
At the core, I should also mention, sorry, I should mention this.
GW does one thing really well when it comes to demons, and that's naming Nergel.
demons. At the core of this ship, there is a massive radar demon. Am I say massive? I mean
five times the size of Rodigus. Like just... Well, he's also just an ooze blotted out. He's the guy
he's the guy from Blade. Oh, you're right. Yeah, it is the guy from Blade. So what it is is,
it's described in the book as his body has become so bloated that it actually can't move anymore.
He's wedged into the ship.
And his name is Gar-Gul-Gor.
Gar-Gul-Gar.
You're not sick right now.
You can't pronounce it.
But it's written in the book.
They write the name out.
And it says you can only pronounce it correctly with a mouth full of fluff.
Yep.
That is actually hilarious.
GW does an amazing job with Nurgel demons.
So Uriel and his crew, they're on the ship.
And they're actually undetected and they're using stealth to move through it.
So, you know, remember, in a Nergel ship, the corridor,
are alive. So they're trying to not touch the walls. They're just moving as quietly as can
and they finally get to where they need to be, which is the core. And they look around in a classic,
you know, like any adventure series, they look up and they see their target and they have a couple
problems. First, the walls inside of there are covered with Nergel demons in the different
states of metamorphosis. You've also got pods of grossness. Yeah. You got a, you got a,
massive beasts of Nurgel who the warmth of the decay drew them there so there's there
beasts of Nurgal actually through every edition are impossible to kill so they're also hilarious
because they're actually there to play yeah and they just want to hug you but they accidentally
murder you with their hug yeah and then Garagulgagor is also there too and he's overjoyed
because he can't move remember so it was really he thought it was really convenient that some
victims would do him the courtesy of coming to him he actually tells him yeah like they
He thanks to him for coming to him because he hasn't, he's wanted to kill something and
everything's too far away, but you guys came to me.
And that's really nice of you.
I appreciate you.
And so next to him, of course, is the core and what they have to kill.
So a fight breaks out.
And as with all sci-fi fantasy, the battle is an abject failure, followed by grasping
victory from the jaws of defeat, the greater demon, the hordes of demonic flies, the beasts
of Nurgal. They're all just attacking.
They're getting wrecked. Yeah. And Uriel,
sensing that the,
for whatever reason, since the battle was going on,
lets out this massive psychic
blast from his eye and destroys
quite a bunch of things, at which point
Garagulgagor grabs him.
And that begins crushing him.
And as he's
crushing him, Uriel reaches
out with his spear and
slices the core, which
kills the ship.
What's really important, though, is what
Garagul-Gulgar does next.
But we got to pause.
I got to push the pause button, which I'm making the...
Brett is touching things here.
Continue.
Well, it doesn't make sense until you realize how jealous of each other, each of the
chaos gods are.
Well, yeah.
But let's do it.
That's why this is so cool.
So Garagul-Gul-Gar, as he's dying, turns and is about to basically take the Space Hulk
and put it on an impossible collision.
chorus with Ayand.
It's going to destroy.
And then he has a vision in the warp, and he realizes something.
He realizes that he could affect the battle between the gods by not doing it.
In fact, that by him just taking his death and letting the Space Hulk die, he actually
will aid Nurgel in his destruction of Slenesh.
And so Garagulagor just laughs and laughs and laughs.
as he dies and his spacehulk breaks apart.
Which is hilarious on this because this is an inner monologue thing.
They do it in the book.
But the arrest of the people fighting have no idea.
They're just watching a greater demon giggle and die and like whatever.
So they grab Uriel's body and reclaim it and they take it back to Iyanden.
While they're there, the seers of Iyandan can't do anything.
He's dead.
His spirit is lost.
and he's in like a room,
which is guarded, of course, by, you know, Wraith Host, et cetera.
Yvrain comes walking down and just walks in.
Let's pause on this again just for a second.
Because Yovraine never lets anybody know what the hell she's doing.
Yeah, she just does things.
Yeah.
So this, and I'll keep going to this,
because she could have went,
hey, I'm going to do this, this, and this.
And everybody would have been awesome.
That's a great thing.
She just walks in and the wraith guard step up the killer.
The spirit seer pulls them back because she senses, she senses Yvrain to something good.
Yvraine walks in, picks up his spear.
The spear of Twilight and stabs him.
Again, tells nobody.
Your old body with it.
Oh, no, sorry.
My mistake.
So she picks it up first.
And as she lifts it into the air, the spear changes form and shows it's actually a chrome sword.
Then she stabs Euro with a crone sword and he merely sits up Undertaker style and comes back to life.
In a coffin match.
Just boom, let's go.
And yes, I definitely did the sitting up from the coffin.
He did, yeah, and might have hurt his abs.
And then Yvraine hands the sword back to Uriel,
which the sword then converts over back into the spirit.
And Uriel basically declares his allegiance to the Yanari as well.
Which people tend to do when you're resurrected.
Yeah.
Not only does he do this, most of Iandan does this too.
Most of Iandan watches this and just goes, yeah, this is our leader.
The biggest thing is that they don't.
Every Eldar knows from the beginning of life that Sla-Nash is the end game.
Yeah, this battle was against Nergel.
No, no, no, no, but I'm saying they're seeing that there is a, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
This is the first.
We can eventually defeat Slanesh.
Yeah.
This is huge.
Yeah.
Revolutions are built on hope.
That movie's awesome.
Also, yes.
So here we are, three craft worlds and later, your reigns forces have grown immensely.
In a matter of weeks.
Yeah.
The problem, though, is the forces of chaos, they're in.
ant mound against an impossible.
They need allies and a mass of them.
And so they go all,
they go into what they call the Great Hall,
and the Eldar begin to debate what to do next.
And everyone agrees in the same problem.
They need a massive force.
And they start ruling out people.
The orcs can't be trusted.
Tyrannids are pretty solid, no.
No.
The Necrons, yeah.
The Necrons being the eldest,
Eldar's oldest foe feels like an awkward, you know, parlay.
You know, they do two things in this.
They make the point of not only are they the Otis foe,
but even as they're reawakening,
they're still infighting.
So there's zero chance.
And they do actually,
they call out the tau not me.
They call out the tau as being too small to even bother using.
I love it.
Their words, I concur,
but their words.
And the Votan weren't in the game yet.
So they didn't even mention the Votan.
So there's only one race left and that's mankind.
And is this a little bit,
stolen from Lord of the Rings. Yes, it's a lot stolen from Lord of the Rings.
But anyway, the Eldar come into agreement quickly that humans can't be trusted to fight chaos,
that they've proven time and time again that the will of mankind is weak.
I think that was the line, is that the line from Lord of the Rings?
Yeah, there we go.
Yep.
They're not wrong.
I mean, they've been corrupted.
Oh, time and time for them.
Over and over and over again.
In fact, they're the most corruptible race in the galaxy.
Yep.
Let's call them out.
So it would be impossible.
The farce, but the farcees even call out that the time of the emperor had come and gone.
This, again, is basically stolen from return of the king.
Like almost verbatim.
Like when you read it, you're like, oh, come on.
But the humans had their past, but they had no direction to follow now.
So what they, Uriel then speaks up.
And Uriel says, well, the humans are not a lost cause.
They just need a new leader.
They need a hero from their past to realign their future.
He says they need a demi-god to follow.
I was to say that is his actual...
They need a demi-god.
A demi-god to follow.
And so with that, I think you guys kind of understand...
Where we're going to?
Because on the meanwhile, on the other side of the galaxy,
Belisarius call St. Celestine inquisder Grafax
and a motley crew of Cadians are fleeing.
And that's where we're going to break into...
next week. I think you all can figure out probably where we're going. I'm going to warn you all
next week is going to involve ultramarines and I like ultramarines. A lot, a lot, a lot, a lot. So
going to get a little bit hyped. So until then, this has been John Barsati and Bradchester.
This guy. See you next week.
