Wellie called me, cried for hours and then he's obviously like said he's got cancer and I'm the only one who can help him
And also like I just said to him like I don't want to be with him like that was kind of rude in that conversation too
I remember one of my other friends years ago told me a story that her ex he also said that he had cancer and he didn't at all
So it was like how inconsiderate as well to then like like he was just not my type
personality was or you were just trying to get over your ex
Well it didn't work I didn't want to
I was sex when I'm, I didn't want, like.
What's something you've been embarrassed about when you've had a breakup, like that you've done that
might be a bit embarrassing?
So I did and then I cried.
Can you describe your best ever date or your most ideal date, like the perfect date to you?
Buckle up, bitches.
This is going to get bumpy.
This is the breakup diet.
Welcome back to another episode of the breakup diet.
Today I have Josephine back again.
If you haven't seen any of her other episodes, you have to go back because she's been on a few
times. So welcome. Thank you. So today I thought we'd give some like general breakup advice and get your
insights on that because the last couple episodes was kind of focusing on like cheating and like story times.
Yeah. So let's start it off with how many breakups have you had? Two, three, two or three? I mean two
and then maybe like four, three, four or five but then I went back to the same person so that doesn't
really count. Okay. I'm talking about not going back like straight up.
Do you normally go back to an ex?
No.
Is there only one person that you work?
Yeah, and that was a few times.
Yeah.
Why do you think it's different?
First two was easier because I wasn't that in love with him anymore.
And then this one is different because of that because I am.
Do you think like when you break up that it's easiest to just go into another relationship with somebody else?
Or like is that what do you think is the easiest tactic to not feel your feeling?
start dating again like right away I don't think it I mean it depends like it's individual for you
what was it for me it didn't help no like it didn't help to get under to get over yeah yeah or like
even date someone I'll just compare so I wouldn't recommend that yeah so hard I can't do that either
I'm such a sensitive Sally I'm like nope crying and all that and then just stalking my ex after if I'm too
soon. Yeah, same. I feel like you need to be over the person. Or it just happens and you meet someone
that you really like and get on with, but I don't think you should push it. Yeah. Or like force yourself
to go out and meet someone if you're not ready. Yeah. It's a hard one, isn't it? Because lots of
people say you should get out there, even if it's been a few months and whatever, you should. But then
if you're not ready, you're not ready. And it's so, it is honestly the worst. You do yourself so much
like bad if you aren't ready and you go on dates because you just compare you just feel sad
and you feel even worse because you're like oh my god my ex is great even if they weren't yeah
focus on the good things yeah after a breakup i think that's normal what's something you've been
embarrassed about when you've had a breakup like that you've done that might be a bit embarrassing
embarrassed about like like have you ever i don't know for i can think about my own
for example, like the day after we broke up, I got every single love letter or every single
birthday card or every single thing where he'd written like such a lovely card to me.
I put them all in an envelope the next day and sent them first class back to his apartment.
I was like, yep.
I kept them all.
I was like, that is so dramatic now.
I have all my love letters in my storage.
Really?
Yeah.
I was like, nah, he's going to open this and he's going to read it and remember.
what he said about me and feel sad, you know?
But I don't think you ever got it.
And when I asked him, he said he didn't get something unless he was lying.
Yeah.
But I thought, I was like, ha-ha, checkmate.
I got a few love.
I never got any love letter from my boyfriend.
They had a love letter.
They were like anniversary cards and stuff.
I had another guy who sent me like love letters.
What's this?
Why?
But who's this?
I didn't like him.
But who?
But why?
A guy in L.A.
And what?
that he just randomly certainly love letters um well i was i met up i saw him a few times and for him it was
i was in a very like bad place at that time because i was still not over um a boyfriend yeah
i know who yeah so i met this guy didn't like him but he was kind of and then a lot of other things
happened so i kind of gave him one other chance but i was never interested in him and but he was really
night like he was a cat i didn't even know if he was to be honest like
he was just a bit scary too scary how scary i didn't know i just got maybe that was just
paranoid i thought he was a marred but how did you know your address you obviously gave him
your address for him he gave them to me he didn't send them like okay okay he just gave them to me
and then what did they have in them like i love you so much it was long they were long like i've never
but if you didn't know him that well that would be so weird it is a bit weird
I couldn't even write you a love letter
and I've known you for the years.
He told me we were going to get like he wanted to get married
and when I said I didn't want to get married
or like moved to...
Did you read them in front of him?
No, he gave him to me and then I read him.
And then you send him a text or something.
I don't even think I did that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay.
And then he told me he's got cancer
when I wanted to end it and not seeing him again.
Did he or did he?
No.
I've heard that before, which is actually really messed up.
Did he say anything else?
So after, after he was...
Well, he called me, cried for hours.
And then he's obviously, like I said, he's got cancer and I'm the only one who can help him.
But you don't know him.
And I just, and also, like, I just said to him, like, I don't want to be with him.
I was kind of rude in that conversation, too.
Yeah, yeah.
So it's like, how can I be the only one to...
And also you don't know him.
Like, you only saw him a few times.
Yeah.
He had the same name as the guy I was actually interested in.
Oh, so you know that's the only...
That's the reason I went on the day when I'm...
It's like, I find myself a new.
Oh, did you tell the version one that you had a new guy called the same name?
No, because that was like during six months wouldn't speak.
Okay, fair.
I would get so triggered by that, actually.
I know it sounds so petty, but like if my ex then dated a Yasmin, I'd be like, oh, bitch.
I'd be like, oh, I wasn't dating him.
I never like, he was just not my type personality wise or even like look wise as much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You were just trying to get over your ex.
Well, it didn't work.
I didn't want to have sex with him.
I didn't want, like, and then I felt forced to have sex with him.
So I did, and then I cried.
Oh, God.
This is not a good, not a good relationship.
And I, every time, like, I stayed with him for one week.
He invited one of my friends to L.A., but I was very clear to her that I didn't want, I didn't like him.
And he paid for her flight or something like this wild, yeah.
Business, too.
Yeah.
Which is like, I wouldn't even ask for that.
That was not.
Like he did that for me because he thought I needed a friend at that time
because I was going through something.
Yeah.
That happened like a week or two before.
Yeah.
So she obviously said like, I want to come there to like support it.
Be like a friend.
Yeah.
Which was it didn't really work.
Yeah.
Because she knew that I didn't want to be that.
But I didn't want to say that to him because I didn't want to hurt him.
Awkward.
Yeah.
You know what I don't get is how girls like can ask straight up.
like get me a flight even like in general i think is that a wild have you ever asked of i've never
in my life i never are i don't think i have no no but i mean like as in if you were just first dating somebody
i've never been like i want to fly business to l a book my ticket i think she said like i have long
legs i need extra leg room and i have a bad back so make sure my my seat reclined that's why
Honestly, what I would do is like if he was going to pay for my fly, which I really don't think
he should have done, just whatever.
But if he was, then I'd be like, yes, I got the economy.
I'll pay the upgrade if I wanted to fly business.
On a lighter note, how do you know when you're actually in love with somebody and when you're
not?
Because you said like the other relationships, the other breakups didn't hurt as much.
Did?
Like, I guess my first one did?
Because I was to love with him at some point.
Yeah.
I just knew it wasn't going to work.
And it was kind of like a mutual decision.
And it wasn't just me who said like, I think I said it first and then he agreed and then he said it and I go really sad.
And like, I don't know.
Yeah.
It's always it's always a thing of like you don't want them.
You know it's not right.
But the moment they say it, you're like, oh, how could you?
How could you?
I've been thinking about this for six months.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, friends.
Friends.
Oh, yeah.
Friends.
Does he think you're friends?
I don't think you're friends.
Maybe not.
I mean, we're not that good friends.
We're friendly.
Do you think you can be friends?
were the next? Just friends? Yeah, after a while. When...
Do you not think one of them always fancies the other? Maybe one boat through you have met someone
new. So when you both have... And then there's no jealousy and like you... Yeah, I believe
you can. If after like, I don't know, maybe like eight, ten years. Really? When you vote,
how like fully moved on. Okay. Yeah. I think I could, yeah. But there can't be like... I don't think
I think I don't think so. Imagine, imagine. Not now. Not now. I mean, if I had met someone
you. Would you want to be around your ex with your new partner? I wouldn't, I wouldn't care.
Would you want your partner to tell you? That as in like, for example, if you got invited,
let's put this into a scenario. So say you got invited, you have a new boyfriend or my husband and you're,
oh no boyfriend and you go to a dinner party. Would you want him to tell you that his ex is in the room or not?
Um, yeah.
Would you tell him if it was reverse?
Yeah.
Always.
Yeah.
Do you think you should always say?
No, you don't have to.
I don't know how I feel.
Like, I think it, I don't know if this is really bad.
I don't know if I would say.
I mean, if I was like fully cut off from them and I didn't want anything to do with them,
then I knew I wasn't going to speak to them.
No, I'd be polite, but I don't know if I would say it was my ex.
Oh, okay.
Is that bad?
I mean, I would say if it was like someone I'm saying.
left with like once.
Yeah.
Because there's no point.
But if it was my ex, I would say that.
I don't know what I would do.
I don't know if I would say.
It's not bad.
Because like at the end of the day, what's going to happen is like your current boyfriend
is probably going to be a bit like weird.
I mean, it did happen to me.
Did it?
Yeah.
At roof.
Yeah, but they weren't sat at the same dinner.
Like table.
At the same table.
I mean you go for a big group dinner and they're at the same table.
Oh, okay.
I don't think that would happen to me.
No, I know, but I'm saying it's...
If it was, yeah.
Oh my God, I think it did.
So I went on a dinner with my ex,
and then a friend of mine was there with her boyfriend,
and she brought a friend of hers,
which is someone I had been on a date with,
and he was that with a new girl.
I told my boyfriend at that time
that I'd been in a date with him.
Okay, okay, so you'd been on a date with him, yeah,
because you had.
And he didn't care.
Like, it was just a bit, like, it was funny,
I think.
but he's played after.
What about, okay, maybe if it was like a proper boyfriend then, yeah.
What about if it was like a situation ship?
If it was someone.
Someone who that you slept with more than once a few times over, like a few months,
maybe being friends with them, and then they're your boyfriend, you're with your boyfriend
there and they come and say, hello, just being polite, would you say, by the way, I used
to hook up with that guy?
No.
Okay, good.
Yeah, that makes me feel better.
I feel like, yeah.
You don't always have to say, surely.
No.
It's only if they were like a proper boyfriend.
Yeah.
What do you do if you ran into your ex-boyfriend on a night out?
Like say, no, say you were at Roof Garden, say you were at, I don't know, a restaurant.
You saw your ex on a date.
Oh, on a date.
Only him and a girl.
What would you do?
My previous ex.
This is like all theoretical.
Okay.
You don't have to make it.
You know what I mean?
I wouldn't go and introduce myself because I don't want to make it awkward for that person.
Yeah.
So you would just ignore it.
I might text them.
Okay.
And say, hi, are you on a date?
Can I go say hi?
Okay.
Okay, sure.
Yeah.
I would just, I think I would, yeah, I would not do anything.
I would just like have probably smirk a little bit.
Like, as in, I'd be like, you know, like, woo-hoo.
Safey dance, and yeah, come and join.
I'm happy to join.
Oh, God.
And then when she says, like, how do you guys know each other?
Then that's up for him.
Yeah, okay, then you stay quiet.
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't think I would join.
I wouldn't join.
I'd just be like, I'd just do like a, like this and let him just then say.
Yeah.
And I probably leave the place.
I'm not going to lie.
Like, as in, I don't have time to say.
Well, that's what I did last time.
Well, he wasn't on a date.
Yeah.
But I just don't really want to see it.
Like, even if I don't care, it's a bit awkward because I couldn't help myself.
But look.
I'd be so interested.
I would want to know everything.
No, I would want to speak to.
I want to see what she's like.
Like, I want him to meet someone.
Yeah, but I would let them do the thing
and not I wouldn't be like interested.
I would be like, no, I don't want to see it.
Yeah.
Because like I'd be too nosy.
It's like I'm just,
it's better to not see it out of sight, out of mind.
True.
Can you describe your best ever date or your most ideal date,
like the perfect date to you to go on?
You can describe either one that you've previously had that was good
or you can describe like your best,
like as in fake scenario of what you would love to do.
saying for me.
Yeah.
To just go for a drink first and then just is it a first date?
You can set the scene.
You're writing in film.
You need to set the scene.
I mean, I'll be up for.
I mean, I did go for a date once.
We just met for a drink and then we ended up staying together for like 48 hours.
Yeah.
I think those are the best, like, spontaneous.
Okay, so your best day is like you go for a drink and then after you see where it goes.
Yeah.
I don't like the whole thing of like everything to be like planned in detail.
Because that's too much pressure, I think.
And what if you don't like him?
Do you ever get nervous before a day?
Have you ever got nervous before a day?
Yeah, but not really not anymore.
I mean, I was nervous when I first met.
Yeah, I used to drink like a shot before.
Yeah, I did that on my first day.
I remember I had a shot.
I was like, oh!
And then I remember the first time.
like whether I take this out of the episode,
but I remember the first few times,
like, obviously my ex and I, like, stayed together.
And I remember I had somebody living here at the same time,
at the same time.
And I made, she hid, like, tequila shots in the cabinet, in the bathroom.
And before he came over, like, I already drank so much
because I was so, like, nervous.
Like, not so much.
I had maybe had two glasses, but I was drunk.
Like, I was not drunk.
I was, like, tipsy.
And then my drunk ass thought it was a great idea to then do the,
shots in the cabinet that my friend hid from me.
So I went to the upstairs bathroom.
Like, I was like, I'm just going to go to the bathroom, went to the bathroom, like, did
the shots of the gila, then went out and then was like, obviously not scared anymore.
I just went to sleep.
He noticed.
He asked me if I was drunk.
I was like, no.
Karen had one drink blackout.
I just went to sleep.
Sorry.
Too drunk, too tired, but I'm not drunk if you asked me.
It was so sober.
It would have been like slow, like bad, really bad.
Like back in the days I've like I've had a few of those.
Yeah.
Just drinking a little bit too much before going on a date with someone.
Like having drinks with a friend before going in a date, that's good, I think.
Yeah.
But maybe not drink too much.
Yeah, I don't even think I can do that.
I think I would just like have a drink getting ready and then go on my date.
Otherwise I get too flustered and like, I don't know, scatty.
So what's the toughest breakup you've been through?
Probably the breakup with my current boyfriend.
Yeah.
Before we go back together.
Because then obviously, like, I wanted to speak to him all the time.
Yeah.
And it's just hard to like not, like, you have to remind yourself all the time
not to text the person and not to call a person.
It's actually such a hard habit once you're in that habit.
Like I kind of have that habit now, right?
With new man.
Now I'm used to him calling me.
and if he stops calling me
I'm going to be like
what the hell
and I know like
if you're actually dating somebody
it's not just like a phone call every day
it's like you know so much more
and you want to share so much more
like something great happens
you want to tell them
something bad happens
you want to talk to them
something funny happens
you go to text them
and you have to like break that habit
I find that's really hard
that's thing I actually struggled with mine
I feel like you can't really just
do that right away
my first breakup
my ex
He was really good at that because he was like, we shouldn't speak.
Yeah.
And I was like, well, you said we were going to stay friends.
Yeah, you can't.
And he's like, no, any time.
It is really hard.
Yeah.
I think I was kind of like that.
Faye Da was like he did me a favorite though because I got over him.
I don't know.
It took like two months maybe.
But it would have taken me a lot longer if I stayed in contact whenever.
You're actually the worst.
Sorry, you're the worst person to need a break up with.
Because we're around.
because you were here living with me
when I was going through my break-up at one point
like in one of the points
I think, yeah, a few times
when we got back together for a little bit
and they broke up again
and every time I'm like, I want to text it
you're like, just do it!
Just do it!
And I was like, yeah, I'm going to.
And everybody else was like, no!
And I'm like, well, I'm going to it anyway.
But you're like, I would, just do it.
I'm like, okay.
It was like, to be fair, I agree.
Because you want to do it,
but even like I would give myself
that same advice.
now.
Yeah.
Because it's just like it's just like too much not to speak to a person.
Don't meet up with a person.
But you can.
I don't think you should like force like to just not say anything.
Like yeah.
Because that's just too too hard.
Yeah.
I do think it is kind of good though too.
Like as in with my ex he was quite brutal with that.
He did always reply to me but like he was quite brutal.
Which actually I do think help.
Which is good.
That he was one saying that.
Yeah, because if not, like, I would have seen him all the time.
You have to be stunned.
Like, it's so hard.
But if you actually want to move on, you have to be like, no, we cannot text and we cannot call.
Because I think if you're calling somebody, yeah, you're hearing their voice.
You're like, it's, no, it just keeps you in the stuck in that, like, cycle.
Yeah.
Do you have a breakup diet?
Not like an actual food diet.
That's not to be triggering.
Like, as in, like, are there things that you do that you know if you're in a breakup, help you get out of it?
For example, do you straight away, lock them, mute them, go on holiday?
I'll go somewhere far away.
I'll fly to L.A.
Okay.
Go out to Malibu.
Why L.A?
I don't know.
It's just like somewhere I...
Go to.
Go to when I feel like I need to...
I need some, like, time away from here.
Then what do you do?
I stay there for a bit.
Private.
boo. Okay. Walk on the ocean. Walk and yeah. Yeah. Hang out with some friends like,
I don't know, try and keep myself busy. That's your, that's your breakup diet. What's yours?
What's my breakup diet? First thing I would do is come and cry at home because like I am one sensitive
Susan. So like I would be, you know what I mean? I would just, I'm not good. And then the next day
probably get myself out of the house just for a walk,
but also no, like, I'm still going to be super sad.
For like a week, I'm probably going to let myself be sad, you know, really sad.
Crying in the shower, crying in the park, you know, I'm feeling sorry for myself.
Yeah, I've, yeah, crying, walking down the street.
I had that last time as well, like I was walking down the street crying, like,
but like, and then my friend's mom and sister are driving in the car and I just like stopped crying.
So I just got myself like back together.
I was like walking, listening to a podcast, like that or music, you know.
And then they go, yes, how are you?
And the moment somebody asks you how you are when you're, when you're not okay.
I just burst out crying.
I was like, yeah, my boyfriend and I broke up.
And they're like, oh my God, get in the car.
Get in the car.
I like driving in a car.
Like crying in a car.
No.
Just driving around crying.
No.
And then after that, what I do?
I'd be like on my revenge, glow up.
okay like I know that it might be petty but like I want to feel my best and I want to look my
best and I'm going to make them regret it at the start it might be for them but by the end it's for
myself yeah you know it's a win-win yeah and then also like just being fit and then I would be
trying to see my friends as well going out with them like not drinking a lot because I know
myself I can't drink a lot because then I'll cry and text them you know yeah but I'd just be
going out and being social yeah see your friends don't go on
like dates right away. No, do not go on dates. Do not go on days. Do not even go shopping.
Don't like as, yeah, I mean shopping for men on like online. So my one of my good friends was
always like, just go shopping. I'm like, what do you mean? She's like, go shopping on like a dating
app. I'm like, that's so wrong. But yeah, I wouldn't be doing that. And then come like a month
even two, then you can start, if you feel ready, then you can start to like maybe go on dates again.
But even then, fuck that.
Whenever you're ready, like, let it take two years if that's...
Yeah.
If that's what you need.
Yeah, and don't let people pressure you into thinking that you should be
because you're like a certain age and like you should be over it.
I didn't have people pressure me, but I felt I put pressure on myself because of that after mine.
I was like, I should be going on days.
He's going on so many days.
Like, I should be.
Or like I should be because, like, I shouldn't be this sad still.
When did you break up?
How long ago?
Long time.
Like a year and a half now.
So I think you're ready now to meet someone.
Yeah, I think so too.
And before you weren't.
Do you have a type?
I think so.
I don't know.
Do I have a type?
I mean, I feel like I would classify, is it going to kill me?
I feel like I would classify your type as old and rock star and successful.
Funny.
Yeah, maybe.
I mean, yeah, yeah, they have to like make me laugh.
Yeah.
What do you think my type is?
Exotic looking.
Like an exotic dancer
He doesn't look like an exotic dancer
Yeah I didn't think I had a type before
And now I think I do have a time
I feel like that's only come in the last year
More like dark features
Tall, dark and handsome
Yeah
I'm so basic
Exhaustic, that's so true
Exhausting, that's like exotic for me
He's not exotic
But I wouldn't say he's exotic
Tall dark and handsome
I would say he is
I was really like
I don't know what is exhausting
Like he belongs on a beach
No, but he is, we can't be talking about him this one.
Drinking a coconut.
No.
Like, yeah.
