Starting point is 00:00:03 My name is Charlie Kirk. I run the largest pro-American student organization in the country fighting for the future of our republic. My call is to fight evil and to proclaim truth. If the most important thing for you is just feeling good, you're going to end up miserable. But if the most important thing is doing good, you will end up purposeful. College is a scam, everybody. You've got to stop sending your kids to college. You should get married as young as possible and have as many kids as possible. Go start a turning point USA college chapter. Go start a turning point you would say high school chapter.
Starting point is 00:00:35 Go find out how your church can get involved. Sign up and become an activist. I gave my life to the Lord in fifth grade. Most important decision I ever made in my life and I encourage you to do the same. Here I am. Lord, use me. Buckle up, everybody. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Noble Gold Investments is the official gold sponsor of the Charlie Kirk Show, a company that specializes in gold IRAs and physical delivery of precious metals. Learn how you could protect your wealth with Noble Gold Investments at Noble Gold Investments.com. That is noblegoldinvestments.com. All right, welcome everybody. Today, it is September 28, 2026. We are remote. You got Tyler Boyer here, C-O of Turning Point Action, joining me in studio at the Y Refi Remote Studios. So we got Blake Neff holding it down. He's got my mic flag back. That's my mic flag. Well, either way, I have a mic flag and you don't. Well, that is true. But we are holding it down here in our nation's capital.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Honored to be joined with you all across the country. And if you see Tyler Boyer's face, that means you know we are about to get into the hard politics of it all. Tyler is the architect leading the charge when it comes to turning point actions, get out the vote efforts. We call it our Chase the Vote Project. He's doing an amazing job. And I just want people to understand this really quickly here at the onset. We've got a pack show for you, by the the way. We are how many days out guys? We're 36 days out to election day. Thirty-six days. That's one month out. We have so much work to do. And I want to remind you that the future is wide open. The truth about what's going to happen in this midterms is not written yet. We have the chance
Starting point is 00:02:26 to put our own authorship to it. And that's why we work every day in and out. We don't sleep. Tyler's like seven years older than you were last year. Yeah. I know. We We all are. A decade older. All right. So, Tyler, you have put together this, this who to watch graphic, right? This is, this is a throw up 143. This is all hands on deck for these races. We're going to do it again. And we're going to tell you how to get involved, folks, because this is all about grassroots, action, action, action. We're about being a solution. Everybody else complains. Everybody else tears down. We build. We find solutions. And we, we want to save this country. So let's start from the top left.
Starting point is 00:03:06 John Sununu, Tyler Boyer. Yeah, and this is going to lead right into a conversation we're going to have later about people freaking out, particularly about how midterm they're looking. But there are probably four or five states that are going to determine everything, the whole shebang. And from the top, the state that we have worked in very diligently in New Hampshire, Johnson Noonoo is one of the only candidates that's moving a lot of the national dialogue to the right, which has been really fantastic. The people are on fire in New Hampshire.
Starting point is 00:03:39 I just got bad on there probably about almost once a week. Yeah, did you ever think you're going to become so accustomed to Boston's airport? Red eyes every week going back and forth. But the team that's there, I mean, are granite staters that the good people of New Hampshire are working their tails off right now to do something special. Yeah. And, yeah, Johnson Noonu, as in the in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the tape here is up against Chris Pappas, who is an absolute do nothing, total radical. He's campaigning with Pocahontas in his state. I mean, totally crazy stuff that's happening. And, and New Hampshire has it, has the decision to make it. Are they going to be represented by essentially the Massachusetts bold or are they going to come out and be, uh, the, the, the free stater? you know, Granite State, live-free or die mentality that New Hampshire has always been.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Well, and listen, so for those listening in the audience that don't understand the intricacies of New Hampshire politics, it has more registered Republicans than Democrats. It's the Indy vote, right, that typically depends or swings the state. They like to send Democrats to federal office, but on the state level, they've been electing Republicans, okay? And one of the trends that we're seeing is if we do have headwinds, You're seeing it sometimes more in red states.
Starting point is 00:05:03 The blue states like Minnesota, Maine, New Hampshire, could be in this weird map of 2026, could be the opportunity to hold or even expand. If everything falls our way, guys, we could expand the Senate. I don't want that to be outside of the realm of possibility here. But it could be the blue states where we hold the ground. Yeah, I mean, look, you know, it's part of this whole idea that the left has bit off more than they can chew. I mean, they are trying to take the Senate, trying to. to take the house, trying to win in places that they abnormally win in, like, Kansas where
Starting point is 00:05:38 they're trying to protect a governor there. And so you have a situation where in New Hampshire, you have, I mean, a relatively conservative state that is rural suburban Boston. Yep. And, but, you know, like you said, they keep winning on the federal side because they just pump tons and tons of money in for chasing votes and for convincing people that they're going to lose something at the federal level. So, I mean, our conversations right now that we're having on the ground with people are that
Starting point is 00:06:07 people are kind of over the whole the leftist kind of running the federal side of things. I mean, New Hampshire kind of, again, is a generically conservative state always has been and has three out of three federal office holders as Democrat. Are you saying that four out of four? But there is this thing. You brought up the idea that could be biting off more than they could chew. is there a possibility that Democrats, now that they, they smell blood in Kansas, they smell blood in Ohio, they smell blood in all these states, that they're spreading their resources out a little bit too thin,
Starting point is 00:06:40 and they might be neglecting something like New Hampshire, where we're going all in. Yeah, that's right. I mean, that's part of the game that you have to play, right, when you, when you wore out these things, is you got to look at where potentially your enemy is going to be the weakest. And again, you look at Maine and New Hampshire, and you got to keep Susan. Collins and so and remember that there's there's some shared things going on there right because Maine and New Hampshire are both again this suburban rural area of Boston of the Boston metropolitan area and again Boston's not huge but those areas all share similar TV pattern they share similar radio patterns similar culture too and so when you have a race that like what's
Starting point is 00:07:24 happening in in Maine it makes even more sense to go all in on New Hampshire because hopefully you can catch, again, our own kind of unwatched headwinds that are going in the right direction. Now, that is all to say, like, this would be much better in a year, like, again, 2022, where, you know, probably these things weren't taking advantage of. Right. To their greatest extent. But I think if we can prove something, the conservative movement can band together and prove something this year, given the circumstances, given the fact that we hold the presidency and basically, again that that trifecta that's it that's in DC that's a big deal well all right so listen we could have a weird map this year but I'm also thinking there could be a hidden Trump vote we're going to
Starting point is 00:08:13 a Republican vote in this sense we're going to talk about that the next segment but Tyler really quick why don't you go through just rapid fire across this list in the last two minutes we have so let's talk about the other three states that matter the most air that graphic Arizona Iowa and Michigan. And the reason why with that, you have, against, Arizona, Iowa, and Michigan, you actually have three governor's races there happening there. In Michigan, you have the Senate race, which we know so well with El Saeed. The jihadi Kami who's running. And so that's a true test of, you know, is Michigan lost or not at the end of the day is that Senate race? But down ballot, you have more per capita. I mean, there's three states that will ultimately
Starting point is 00:08:57 really decide probably what Congress is going to look like. That's Arizona, Iowa, and Michigan. Arizona, you've got two to three you know, really you could consider three swing districts. Jay Philly, Wansiskemani. Jay Feeley, Wansuskemani, Eli Crane.
Starting point is 00:09:12 And then in Iowa, you've got three races with Zach Nunn, Marionette Miller-Meeks, who won infamously by just a handful of votes in our first race. And then also, So Joe Mitchell, who is our guy who's great. Joe's great.
Starting point is 00:09:29 Young talent, yeah. But more money has been spent in Joe Mitchell's race, nobody's talking about by the Democrats, than anywhere else that there's a massive disadvantage that's there. So the Democrats are going all in on Iowa as well. Also in run up to 2028 where you have a presidential caucus system that's there. And so it benefits them. And so they're smart.
Starting point is 00:09:52 They kill multiple versions of one stone. and then in Michigan, you've got multiple, multiple races there going as well. And, again, that governor's race, where you have our current sitting congressman that's running for governor that's there. So those three states are, you know, if the movement was smart. And Arizona and Michigan. Yeah. If the movement was smart, you're going all in on those places. And then I always throw in, obviously, the Scott Perry's, which we've got to keep Scott Perry.
Starting point is 00:10:23 Yeah, Pennsylvania. Yeah, of the Freedom Caucus. Derek Van Orden, which I think is he's kind of the, he is the race to watch because I think what happens with Van Orden is going to tell us a lot about. All right. We're keeping tabs, by the way, on this story out of the UK where these military-aged males, they're calling them British nationals, Blake. They always do.
Starting point is 00:10:47 But they're refusing to confirm their origin and heritage. Yeah. We know exactly. what it's going to be. It's going to be people from far off countries who should not be in Britain. They are now British nationals probably get free housing, free everything else, brought into the country, and their only purpose is to try to blow up actual British people. Yeah. Well, this is a, the Fairford base in the UK is used by the U.S. It's a sort of a, it's since World War II. They've been using it. We've been sort of been allowed to use it by the UK.
Starting point is 00:11:21 So we'll see what happens there, but the fact that they're not talking about their heritage, you know, we're assuming it's just like, you know, five white boys out of, you know, out of London. I'm not. Well, if you've been to London, just odds. No, the odds are that it's not just five good old white boys. Hey, listen, if it is, it is what it is. I just, I couldn't imagine that being the case, but we are keeping tabs on this right now. I want to bring this up, Tyler. Okay, so we went around the horn.
Starting point is 00:11:50 all the races that Turning Point Action is watching. We're working as hard as we can. We've got field offices in New Hampshire, Arizona, Nevada. We're building the red wall towards 2028, but we're also focused on the here and now. So this is an interesting graphic that just came out, all right? You posted about I wanted to bring it up. Okay. So we have this graphic. States where Republicans are hardest to reach in polls per echelon insights. Now, again, the context here, Blake and is that we have been told that we could have this upside down map where we win in Minnesota, Maine, maybe New Hampshire, blue states, but we lose ground more so proportionally in red states. But look at this. Most hidden Republican voters. So the hardest voters to poll are in Iowa,
Starting point is 00:12:41 Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Arizona. That is a huge chunk of the must-watch states that you were just looking at. Arizona, Juan Siski-Mani, Eli-Krane, Jay Feely, got to hold the house there. Iowa, you just went through the list in Iowa, Michigan, you just went through the list in Michigan. Those are the hardest to reach state, according to this graphic. Yep. So what are we to look into this? So this is why the message today is the future is unwritten. We have to write it ourselves. We have to author it ourselves. Do not give into the polls. And now we're told that the states where apparently we're losing the most ground or we're the most worried about, they're hard to reach for conservatives. on the polling side. Tyler, you might know this. How do we distinguish a real Republican who's hard to reach, hard to poll from a Republican who's maybe just demoralized and checked out? I think that's a natural pushback.
Starting point is 00:13:33 So are we able to distinguish the two? Yeah, I'm not sure how they identified this, but I think this is beyond in the excellent insights is just in general they have a difficult time getting a hold to even make that determination of who that individual could be. I mean, there's a number of different reasons why somebody might not answer a poll. I think that somebody who's less motivated, Blake, actually has more interest in answering a poll than somebody who is not. Like, someone that wants to complain that wants to be like the poll Karen typically is overrepresented in polls instead of underrepresented, if that makes sense. So I actually think that that's even your point.
Starting point is 00:14:14 if there is a lack of sentiment, they're typically that is overrepresented in some of these polls, which is actually another good thing. Your generic to show up, cast a ballot type Republican in this context is far more underrepresented in these specific states. And it's not just Arizona, Iowa, Michigan, which are three of the most critical states for this election, specifically with midterms. But we're also Nevada's on there, New Hampshire's on there, Ohio. is on there with the Ohio's big by the way
Starting point is 00:14:46 Ohio's big and Texas is on there so you look at this you start going okay well you know there has been some other studies that have been done where people have made claims that you know potentially Republicans are underrepresented by five six seven points
Starting point is 00:15:02 on some of these polls yeah which by the way I will tell you I want to give our audience some hope here and this is not an excuse not to do anything do as much we got to play like we're underdogs Republicans do great when we're underdogs, okay? We should throw this graphic back up too.
Starting point is 00:15:16 What's that? We should throw this graphic back up. Yeah, throw the graphic back up. So I'm hearing from my sources that Paxton's internal polling has him up. It's still close, still very close. I'm hearing Vivek Ramoswamy in Ohio, his internal polling has him slightly up. But if we're also have this issue with hidden Republican voters in these states, I mean, that could be a really big deal come election day.
Starting point is 00:15:40 Yeah, I mean, it's a jump ball. Look, what I'm saying. This election at the end of the day is going to be who is more motivated, who can turn out more votes. The reality is that in 2018, you had a far more motivated Democrat base to show up to vote. All of their own polling, the Democrats own polling, and they're easier to grab than our people, is showing that they're not interested, not motivated, and not showing up. Now, again, most of the primary elections did not show Republicans showing up in huge numbers. That wasn't the case in Arizona. Arizona, we actually outnumbered surprisingly and shockingly, the Democrats in the primary election.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Again, you can't pull so much from a, you can't pull really anything from a primary election. And we had a contested Republican primary, obviously an uncontested at the governor's level. Yeah, but I mean, at the end of the day, it sort of was. I mean, Andy Biggs won by 75 points. So it's like, it's not really like a hugely contested election. So, I mean, look, you've got a scenario here where Republicans can reach their base voters in a big way and turn them out with things that matter to them, then you have a chance to win in any one of these states. So I'm hearing just, you know, listen, I'm constantly on the phone with folks. Blake, I'd love your input on this as well. I'm hearing that the border crime and leftist crazies are the points where we can hit.
Starting point is 00:17:09 I mean, I think that resonates with the voter. I think it's tough sometimes to get voters aboard, but you have to remind them aggressively what the left actually does when they're in power, what they did quite recently when they're in power and really show people this is instantly coming back. You need to be afraid of this. You remember 2020. You remember 2021. remember the Biden years. That is all coming back. You're not going to get anything normal.
Starting point is 00:17:38 You're not going to just rebuke the Trump administration for whatever you're mad about. And I think, as Mark Halpern said, fear is a good motivator. And it should be because we should be afraid of what the left wants. Well, and Blake, Caheen Jeffries came out and said it. He straight up said, he told every one of their supporters the moment that they win, they're bringing back all the investigations. No. Well, yeah. They said they're going to have dozens of investigations simultaneous. They're going to immediately keep impeachment on the table.
Starting point is 00:18:11 I mean, we're talking about utter chaos that will happen in this country if the Democrats take power. And people will, I think, will really regret not showing up to vote if they choose not to. Yeah. Listen, now is the time for action for 36 days out. Throw the graphic up there again. Starting point is 00:20:17 The great Sean Davis, founder of the Federalist, CEO of the Federalist and one of the best follows out there on X. formerly known as Twitter. All right, Sean, I was texting with you. I know you really worked up about this. I think Blake's kind of... I'm actually curious about Blake's take here, too. Much to do about nothing, or is the outrage rightly placed. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders released an ad.
Starting point is 00:20:40 Talking about welfare queens. And, but it wasn't a queen. Anyways, stop 15. Yeah. Oh, you want some of this? Take that. Come on. Me, Brad.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Brad has turned relaxing into a full-time profession. But you, you actually work hard. You pay taxes to cover welfare for guys like Brad who just choose not to work. That's why I launched a welfare to work requirement. Almost there. Now, more Arkansasans are working than ever before. Even Brad. I'm just grateful that she helped me with the name of somebody who lives in Arkansas.
Starting point is 00:21:22 It's Arkansas. I apologize. didn't know that to our audience out there. Okay, the policy is good. You should work if you can, if you're able-bodied. What's your issue here? Yeah, the policy is great. The message is great. I have some questions about how and why Brad was picked as the stereotypical welfare recipient. It's, you know, it's not a great time to be a strapping young white dude in America. Trust me, I know. For decades, the white man has been systematically discriminated against, locked out of jobs,
Starting point is 00:22:04 just kind of thrown aside and told, you know, maybe you should learn to code. And then now he's the butt of jokes in Welfare Queen ads. Like, if you look at immigrants coming into America, 70% of them are on well, welfare. Like, we all know exactly what a, what a stereotypical welfare recipient looks like. It's not a dude in his 20s. It's not a guy who's 19. Like, he may be living at home longer than he needs to. He's not on welfare. So the question I ask is like, why Sarah Huckabee are you going after this guy, this demographic, this is your base, and yet we're going to make him the butt of jokes? I just think it's kind of weird. I mean, I don't know. I don't want to flip out too much about it just in the sense that we said, we don't like that the left constantly is aggrieved about everything and that they decide like anything that is just literally like any work of fiction can be a reason to suddenly flip out because you're punching down or not punching up the right way or punching at the wrong person because whether he's stereotypical or not, people like Brad do exist. We do have tons of needs and even even the end of the ad is by the way Brad is now working and that's an admirable thing. Like, could they have put someone else in the ad? Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:19 But it does feel like we're becoming more like the left if we're going to freak out about it. In fact, I guess I thought the ad would be a little bit worse when I first heard about it. Because I can definitely imagine a version of that that is worse. But it's basically just saying there are people who sit at home and don't work and they live off welfare. So we changed that. And you could have put anyone in that ad. Well, what they should have done is they should have had, you know, Brad, next to, you know, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:23:49 Laquisha or something. And then just, you know, put in some other characters then. So like your equal opportunity offenders and you get the point across, that would have been one strategy. But nevertheless, our friend Jack Posobic did a tweet here. He asked Grok, at Grok, what demographic has the highest rates of welfare program participation in Arkansas? Is it white males?
Starting point is 00:24:10 No, the answer. Consensus, ACS data for Arkansas shows black households have the high. highest snap participation rates at about 22% versus 8% for white households. Medicaid coverage rates for age of 0 to 64 are also highest among black residents in nearly 40% versus about 24.5% for white. And then it goes on about female headed households and cuts off. I mean, so to your point, Blake, it is too high even for white households for my liking, actually. But it is higher among other.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Our belief on the right, our belief on the right is that people should be judged. as individuals and that also we shouldn't shy away from the fact that there are differences between groups so I guess bluntly I just I don't get massively worked up because it's not it wasn't actually attacking Brad as like typical white failure white white white white white white it's just saying this is a welfare this is like a guy living off welfare and we shouldn't have that so we changed our rules and the person watching it decided to turn it into a giant racial attack on them. And that's what the left does. And we shouldn't be like the left. Sean? Yeah. So I actually think it's a big, a much bigger issue than that. And look, they're among certain segments on the right, we'll call them boomercans. They're generally
Starting point is 00:25:34 wonderful people. My parents are boomer cons. My in-laws, they're like the nicest most wonderful people on earth. But there are a lot of people in that community who think the real. problem in America right now and why socialism is becoming popular is because of brads. It's just a bunch of brads sitting around and they just need to lift themselves up by their bootstraps and that'll fix the problems. And it's just like a total like wrong depiction of what the problems are in America. We've had DEI for 20 years plus that has boxed white people out of the workforce, especially white men. We've been importing tens of millions of people to replace them. them. When that doesn't work, we will have idiotic wars where we ship them off to go fight for them.
Starting point is 00:26:21 And so you have a demographic here, which is Whiteman. It's like, wait a minute, I've done everything I was told to do and I was balked out of the economy. And now you're making me the butt of the joke so that we can avoid talking about the real problem in America, which is that we have too many immigrants and we have too many people who aren't working. I just, it looked to me like Sarah Huckabee, who I think is awesome and has done amazing work, is maybe doing a little too much Boomer Con fan service in the construction of her ads. And I don't think we should be criticized or made it fault because we noticed that she's doing exactly what she's doing. Well, I guess what I would say is we're currently dealing with now a news cycle where a Republican
Starting point is 00:26:58 candidate where we're demoralizing people and making people unhappy about a Republican candidate over a policy, over an ad promoting a policy that we support that doesn't actually contain within it, any lies, any racial defamation. Basically, we just decided to watch an ad and go, I feel aggrieved about the person they put in this ad. And that's what I've just seen the left do all the time. And it's like clearly a mentality that is dragging America down. And that's how it feels to me. I mean, the truth is, though, white men do get disproportionately stigmatized and satirized or whatever the word is because they're a safe target, right?
Starting point is 00:27:39 And that is really annoying, actually, is somebody who, appreciates the contribution of white white men in this country. Another story here I want to show, this is out of Rochester General Hospital in New York. So throw the B roll up, 157. This is, okay, out of 82 resident doctors hired, 80 are foreign workers on H-1B or J-1 visas, only two are American. Ninety-eight percent of the resident slots went to visa workers, mostly from countries with documented USMLE cheating. What is USMLE? That is the United States medical licensing examination. It's a three-step test requiring to get a medical license to practice medicine in the United States. Step one, test your understanding of basic science concepts. Step two, clinical knowledge,
Starting point is 00:28:32 test your ability to apply clinical science and patient care skills. And step three, test your ability to manage patients independently. Now, a lot of countries are scamming this. And it looks like this problem, Sean, is beyond just Rochester. Look at this. They're up 158. These are American residency programs. The red bar is the red equals foreign resident doctors. Gray are American doctors. So speaking of white men, Sean, it strikes me that in our popular culture, we have seen video after video, movie after movie, show after show where you get this kindly like older white guy that's the doctor that comes in tells you're going to be healthy, tells you got a problem, whatever. That's like, that's the picture you have in your head, right? Well, not anymore. The image that people have in their
Starting point is 00:29:21 head is that if I'm going to get like a cat scan or a pet scan, it's going to be some like Indian doctor that came in, got a residency. Like, what's going on here, first of all? And I guess in a larger sense, should we be upset? 50 seconds and we'll take it in the next segment. Yeah, so I think there's three things going on, especially in the medical industry. One, there is a shortage of doctors, not for the reason you would expect. It's because we're importing so many people who largely use emergency room care as their doctor, that they're running out of capacity to deal with it. So because we've imported so many people, we've decided we need to import a bunch of doctors as well to handle it, which is a kind of madness of its own. There's the issue that the H-Bs, especially
Starting point is 00:30:05 those who don't go to real medical schools, and I'm sorry if you're going to medical school overseas, it's not a real medical school. You know, cry harder. I don't care if that makes you mad. So you can get the doctors cheaper. And then the third issue is that if you're here on an H-1B, it means you're basically indentured to that employer. And when your entire business,
Starting point is 00:30:23 especially in these large hospital groups, is getting billing up, you know what? You might have some people who might be a little more ethically malleable and willing to do, I don't know, insurance and billing up codes to help the hospital out. And to me, those three things explain this. And it's a massive problem.
Starting point is 00:30:39 So we've got another story that's like really bothering me. I have to say. The story is out of the U.K. Let's go ahead and play SOT 18. And I'll explain why it's bothering me a lot. It's a similar theme of what we're talking about. Sot 18. There's new information now about that incident near an air base in England.
Starting point is 00:30:55 Police arresting 5 for a suspected terror attack targeting an air base used by the U.S. to strike Iran. That's some of the video that came out on Sunday. Fanford's the Air Base. All our British Nationals said to be in their 20. All right. So these are British national, Sean. I'm assuming that we can rest assured that they are, you know, Christian young men, probably, you know, absolutely European heritage and all that sort of thing. Or maybe not because they're not bringing up the nationality. It does feel like a theme here. This is why I think all these stories are connected. Sean, your thoughts. Yeah, well, clearly it was a bunch of trucks full of brads that they caught there. Surprise some Swedish. Lutheran separatists, obviously. What I find fascinating is that I guess if you misgender someone or send like a mean tweet or damage a migrants raft, that will get you thrown into the
Starting point is 00:31:53 clink like lickety split in Britain. But if you're plotting a terror attack near an Air Force base where America is conducting operations involved in an overseas war, we'll take you in, we'll give you a look over and then we're going to bail you out. They were literally bailed this morning. And then you had the woman who found them. Mind you, it wasn't law enforcement or military who found them. It was like a nearby farmer who said, well, this seems odd, who saw like 10 of them and then I think only five got arrested and then they're now out on bail. England, what are you doing? What are you doing? Yeah, I didn't realize they were already out on bail. that's shocking actually because this was apparently a potential mass terrorism attack against a UK base,
Starting point is 00:32:39 but targeting American forces as well. So if I'm President Trump, I'm getting on the phone right now and I'm demanding a stiffer jaw here from our Brits, British friends. That's shocking. Blake, you know, this brings up both the race issue but a national security concern when it comes to immigration. I mean, my thoughts here are, is that Trump actually should get involved. The State Department should get involved. The military should get involved. But probably nothing's going to happen. It's the U.K.
Starting point is 00:33:06 Oh, almost certainly nothing will happen. And we have stuff like this that's going to be happening in America more and more. It's like a willful cluelessness that we've embraced about immigration that, forget when they say America is just an idea that anyone can embrace. They say this about Britain, about France, about Germany, about all these places. In a sense, we're lucky. We're lucky that we share a border with a basically European civilization in Latin America. So we get people who, whatever their problems, at least don't have this idea that they are conquering America on behalf of the UMA to impose Islam.
Starting point is 00:33:45 Britain actually has that, though. They've brought in people from a bunch of very hostile places. And it's wild. Like we were mentioning, we have a bunch of immigrants who are on welfare. But in Britain, you can show up in four or five years, basically qualify for lifetime welfare for yourself and a huge network of family members that you bring in. So Britain is even crazier than you might imagine in that. They have just brought in people, instantly put them on welfare, and just sat around waiting for them to think of an idea like, let's try to blow up U.S. planes at an airbase. Let's try to blow up a pub.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Let's try to blow up a concert. Let's go behead some infidels. It just keeps happening there. their police services are infiltrated by people sympathetic with this. It's absolutely deranged what that country has embraced. And yeah, we actually, it's time to start having conversations like, can we have a normal, functional military relationship with countries that don't take seriously the idea that they are importing the enemy that we're supposedly fighting overseas? It's such a good point.
Starting point is 00:34:50 And Tyler, I want to bring you into this because this does have electoral, a constant. This does implicate the way that we message about the midterms here. So I've been talking with David Marcus. He's a Fox News contributor. He thinks that the leftist crazy is starting to emerge in the electorate. So he's on the ground in Minnesota and Michigan. He's talking to people. He's saying that the leftist crazy factor, that they want to open our borders, that they
Starting point is 00:35:16 are embracing guys like El Sayed and Asam Piker, that that is starting to freak people out. You look at the UK. The UK is somewhat like the ghost of. Christmas future here. Tyler, when we talk about messaging, when we talk, you're talking to these voters, you're doing polling on them, you're hearing what's working. What is working? What is motivating people to get out? Well, look, we have another, another parade of people marching towards the southern border right now. So you have, this is not just like a threat of five years ago. This isn't a Joe Biden threat. That's like a boogeyman. This is legit. This is legitimate.
Starting point is 00:35:55 It's happening right now where we have people wanting to just completely barrel over our border. And we know this border is stronger today than it's ever been. We have the most deportations, the most people being rejected at the border than have ever been. And yet still, there are people marching towards our southern border. So this isn't just an idea for voters that this is like, oh, well, maybe that will happen. and, you know, maybe in the future, like after 2028, if, you know, that's why I should wake up. It's happening right now. And what do you think is going to happen if, again, what do you think is going to happen in this country if Hakeem Jeffries is Speaker?
Starting point is 00:36:38 How do we think that's going to strengthen our ability to defend ourselves? And so voters are very much are very much locked in on this when you have that very basic conversation with them, that that is an issue that they should be voting for here in 2020. Sean, this is a story out of Newsweek. It said that this caravan is about 600 large now. They call it the Fe Esperanza Caravan, Faith and Hope. And they're traveling north through Mexico and a caravan bound for the U.S. border, basically banking on the fact that Democrats are going to win in the midterms and they're going to have extra leverage to get in. Your final thoughts here. Last minute, Sean Davis. Yeah, Tyler's totally correct. You know, Democrats, they would be very happy right now. to see us dead, to see our homes dispossessed, to see our children trans and to see all our money given to foreigners streaming across the border. It's fascinating because we've heard all the arguments about how these poor foreigners, we have to give them sanctuary and refuge and asylum. Well, if they're fleeing Honduras and they're just trying to get out of Honduras, the natural place to stop would be, I don't know, next to Honduras, not America.
Starting point is 00:37:47 You don't need to go all across Mexico unless you're actually coming here to take our money and take American opportunities. for yourselves. I think it's a political miscalculation on their part because Democrats might control Congress in a year, but Donald Trump's still going to be president. He's not going to put up with any of that crap. Circling back to Britain, same thing there. Syrians who are next to Syria have all gone home with that civil war over. The ones who don't go home, all the ones we led into the West temporarily. They're all still here. Yeah. Keep the invaders out, folks. Vote Republican. That's all I can say. Sean Davis. God bless you, my friend. We'll see you next time. you, sir. I had the honor of a lifetime to call Charlie a friend. And what I remember most wasn't just
Starting point is 00:38:32 what people saw on stage. It was what was behind the scenes. That was an unwavering commitment to his faith, his love for his family, and his genuine desire to encourage others to live with courage and conviction. Charlie believed that following Christ wasn't something you compartmentalized. He didn't put it in a box. He lived it out loud. It shaped. how he lived, how he served, how he treated people every single day. Charlie Kirk, American Martyr, captures that heart. This documentary isn't just simply about remembering Charlie. It's an invitation for each of us to ask what kind of legacy we're building
Starting point is 00:39:07 and whether we're willing to stand firm in our own faith when it's tested. I hope that you'll watch it with your family and have those conversations together. Go to angel.com slash Kirk. That's angel.com slash Kirk. Become an angel guild member. watch Charlie Kirk American Martyr and help bring more stories of faith, courage, and conviction
Starting point is 00:39:27 to audiences around the world. We got Blake holding it down in Phoenix. I'm here in our nation's capital. Honor to be with all of you. Blake's got my mic flag, but just for a day. He's got his own. I don't know why it feels like he needs to take mine back,
Starting point is 00:39:43 but that's fine. We got a real treat for you in store here. Hour 2 is getting started with a bang, and that is with Kevin Sorbo, actor, director, producer, author. He's one of the brave men in Hollywood that has chosen to speak out and make his values known, not hide, not hide them under a bushel, as it were. And he stars in the Reagan movie, and they have a new version of it out in theaters to celebrate America 250 with new scenes and all of that. Without further ado, Kevin Sorbo, welcome to the show, sir.
Starting point is 00:40:16 It's great to see you. And congratulations on the re-release of Reagan. Yeah, awesome to have you. By the way, if anybody does not follow Kevin Sorbo and X, you are missing out, you're like, I mean, you let it, you let it rip, man. You have a lot to say, and you say it with your chest, and I love that about you. So welcome to the show, and again, sorry, go ahead. It's truthful, but it's a little sarcastic truth ripped in there as well,
Starting point is 00:40:42 because they're so easy to trigger on the left with a little bit of truth, which is amazing to me, that we've come to this point in our lives. where we have half the white females between the ages of 20 and 45 think it's okay that men compete in women's sports and things like that. It's absolutely crazy what this 10 years ago, there's so many things, so many subjects I never thought we'd be talking about today. Well, think about your time when you started in Hollywood, Kevin, and how much the country has changed, how much popular culture has changed and normalized that is completely insane. Maybe just start there. Like, you know, tell what was Hollywood like then versus what it's what it's like now? And how much crazier is it?
Starting point is 00:41:25 Is it always being this crazy or not? Not even close. Not even close. When I moved out there in 86, 1986, 1986 to pursue the actress dream, I already started through my college years in the late 70s early 80s. But I was already doing a lot of work, commercial work. I got that SAG card, that all important screen actors guild card, moved to L.A. I started working right away in the commercial.
Starting point is 00:41:47 commercial work. One of the few people I know that never had to work another job. I wasn't bartending. I'd buddies selling cars. I'd buddies being waiters, whatever. I shot over 100 commercials and started doing a lot of guest spots on different shows before I got my big break in 1993 on Hercules. But prior to that, you could talk, you could be opposite sides on politics, religions, whatever. And people didn't want to kill you for it. People, you know, we talk about it. Maybe you get a little ribbing if you wanted to vote that way or want to vote this way. But you could still, go in a set and not feel threatened in any way. And then I really think that I got to, I got to point to the Obama years. I think it started changing a little bit before that,
Starting point is 00:42:27 but he accelerated it. I mean, I didn't even think about racism. I think most people think more racism anymore. He kind of brought it to the forefront because I don't think, is it out there? It's out there. But it doesn't matter what color you are. There's racism on all colors and to some degree. So I'm not going to name some black actors I know in Hollywood. I'm sorry, African American. I'm Norwegian American. So I thought we were all but I got to joke the fact that I'm second generation Norwegian, where am I rights? You know, so I just laugh at craziness what's been going on in the world. And I'm just fighting back.
Starting point is 00:42:58 I mean, God bless you for that. And you're in this movie, Reagan, which I know was, you know, it was a labor of love, right, from the creators of this film. It took a while to get this done because it was such a labor of love. And Reagan, you know, it's interesting. think about Reagan, Kevin, and I think a lot of our audience probably doesn't know much about Reagan as president. They don't know what the details of the Reagan years were really like. Our students at Turning Point, they have no idea about Reagan at all, right? Maybe just they've
Starting point is 00:43:33 seen some of the clips. What do you think is most important? When you're looking back at the years of Reagan, what do you think is the most important thing that you would want some of our turning point students to know about his life? Well, number one, then we got to point at the failing of public schools and universities. Let's face it, they don't teach civics in school anymore because they don't want people to realize it's we the people. They don't teach history. When I was in high school, I was taking Russian studies, far eastern studies, and American history. I was taking all those courses. They don't teach that stuff anymore. And if they're going to teach history at all in America, they want to rewrite it, as you know, they want to change it. And it's unfortunate.
Starting point is 00:44:08 But the first president I could vote towards 1980. I voted for Reagan. When I was 18, I was able to finally vote. My parents were beside themselves because they grew up as Walter Mondale, Hubert, Humphrey Democrats in the state of Minnesota, which by the way, my old state of Minnesota is trying to turn to California to become the worst political state in the country, which is just so bizarre to me. You know how to pick them, Kevin. I know. No, I escaped California eight years ago. I left the worst governor for the best governor. I live in the pre-state of Florida, so I'm in the pretty good spot. You better keep you better get Byron
Starting point is 00:44:44 Donald's over the finish line. It's a little closer than we like, Kevin, down there. I think it's going to turn out just fine. It's going to turn out just fine. I was just, I actually did a keynote. I did the opening keynote in Chicago and DeSantis got, I got to be the opener for Governor DeSantis
Starting point is 00:44:59 and we just had a good time. We were just there two weeks ago. Good, good. So let's play a clip from this Reagan with the new scenes released. Here you go. This is you starring in it, Kevin. We're going to play that one. three. The boy finds God and he
Starting point is 00:45:16 is elected to the American Congress. Well, you have to be 12. And you go through membership and confirmation. I know that, sir. But it hushed to me now. I read the book and I want to be like that man.
Starting point is 00:45:44 Ronald, Wilson Reagan. I baptize you and I'm a father, son, and the Holy Spirit. Is that based on actually how Reagan wanted it done? He wanted to be baptized right away? Yeah, like before he grew up in a Catholic faith, and I think he got away to, I don't know, 15, 16, and he was only 12 or 13,
Starting point is 00:46:08 and he was adamant about getting baptized now. He felt that he needed to be ahead to be. And I got to play Pastor Cleaver. It was very instrumental in his earlier life through that, not only his early teenage years and into his high school and college years as well. So he obviously never got to see the chance of what happened with Reagan becoming president
Starting point is 00:46:26 because he passed many years before that. But he was very instrumental in what he believed. And the past, we found a bunch of amazing old sermons that he did back at that time. And he preached against communism. So you can't say that that didn't have some kind of influence on Ronald Reagan and fighting the communist Russia regime at that time. That's fascinating to me,
Starting point is 00:46:51 because we just had the beatification of Fulton Sheen, Blake, Blake and I covered this last week. And Fulton Sheen was in the same mold in that sense. He was preaching fire fiery sermons against communism, the godlessness of communism. And then you think about what we've done at TPSA faith. Charlie started TPSA faith because he wanted the church to get back into the public square. He believed we'd ceded that terrain to people that didn't share our values, that didn't share our vision for the future, didn't share our faith, and that it became a void, a void that was filled by bad actors.
Starting point is 00:47:27 And I know you've been working with us at TPSA Faith as well. I want to talk to you about why you've made that a priority, why you've partnered with us on that. And it's just powerful this time with Reagan, bringing this movie back with additional scenes for the 250. These United States are confronted with an affliction of great proportions. For those who have abandoned hope, we'll welcome them into a great national crusade to make America.
Starting point is 00:47:54 great again. Make America not only stronger, but better, with courage and compassion. We have the chance to do more than ever before in our history to make life better in America. We will make the hard choices, make a difference,
Starting point is 00:48:11 make kinder the face of the nation, we can make it better. As patriots, who love America and are willing to work tirelessly to make this country better. I believe that together we can make America, great again.
Starting point is 00:48:26 Make our country great once again. Make this country great again. We will make America great again. And together, we can make America great again. Reagan, it's back out in theaters. Kevin, what's the marching orders here? How do people go and find a theater that they can watch this in? Because I think it really should be seen in an actual thing.
Starting point is 00:48:49 I'm hoping they gave you that information, too. But I hope they gave the information to it. I hope they gave the information. to find it right now. They never, I think, I think locations at Reagan. Dot movie is what I, all I was given here. That's all I can tell you. But I love that clip you just showed.
Starting point is 00:49:07 That works. That is, Reagan. Dot movie. Reagan. Love it. Love it. Love it. Our team had it.
Starting point is 00:49:15 Because everybody, everybody says it was, it was President Trump that started the whole thing. Started back with Jimmy Carter. Every one of these presidents, whether a Democrat or Republican, they all said the same thing. thing, make America great again. And now because Trump said it, now it's become a term that's just, oh, it's just kryptonite to the people on the left. It's just, it's so comical hypocrisy in these people. Oh, man, I totally agree. And listen, you know, Reagan is a guy who, Blake, I'd love your
Starting point is 00:49:44 historical perspective on this. You know, how does he stand up to history? How does his presidency stand up? Well, what's interesting, you and I know that there's been a lot of debate on specific policies of his. How much, how did they last? But I think the most important value you get from Reagan. And the reason a lot of people remember him so fondly is beyond just policies, it's that sense of national vibe that Reagan becomes president right at the start of the 80s. What is the previous 16 years in America? It's the years of Vietnam. It's the years of hippies wrecking college campuses.
Starting point is 00:50:21 Big urban riots. Deindustrialization. People getting cleared out of cities because crime gets absolutely out of control. It's sort of, you might call it proto-wokeness of you. America's first big, woke spree. And it created this powerful sense of America in decline that America was falling apart, was going off of the rails. You get all of this depressing stuff in the 60s and 70s that reflects that.
Starting point is 00:50:46 And Reagan, one of the things that people remember most fondly is that he has this incredible, incredibly positive, sunny, and patriotic disposition. And that's why even him, even him getting baptized in that scene, one thing that matters is that Reagan is a guy who's very, he's not necessarily, he's not a, he's not like Charlie where he can powerfully talk about the Bible as a doctrinaire Christian. But what he is is, he's very pro-Christianity as this binding national identity for us. And Reagan came out and said, it's morning in America. America can do well, can be great, can be successful.
Starting point is 00:51:23 And in that span, we had a major economic surge in America. We had sort of, we go and we win the Cold War. We turn back the tide against this sweeping leftism that's spreading everywhere like a poison. And I think that's the most valuable thing to remember about America, that we've gone through these eras of things looking really bad before. And a leader changes the psychology of the whole country in a way that everyone found inspiring. I agree. I look at the guy what he did in terms of, he perfectly brought up. I mean, he brought down communism. He brought down the wall. All those countries that under the Russian rule, under the
Starting point is 00:51:58 Soviet rule for 50, 60 years, all of a sudden could get back their own countries and vote for their own people. And it's, you know, and he was charismatic. The guy was a great speaker. He was funny as hell. They call him the great orator, whatever it was, but he was amazing in what he did. Look, I do a lot of pro-life speaking. I bring up one of those quotes all time where he said, He goes, I'm always amazed that all the people that are for abortion I've already been born. And I thought it was just so brilliant to say something like that, just to go after these people and the idiocy of once again what they do. So, you know, when I voted for them, like I said, my parents couldn't believe that I wouldn't vote for Carter. And I'm 18.
Starting point is 00:52:36 I'm going, look, Carter's going to go down as the worst president this country's ever had. I was right until Obama and Biden came along. So I think it's, like I said, I speak my mind. Hollywood kicked me out back 10 years ago. They said they don't want to work with me anymore. So my wife and I formed Sorbo Studios. Go to Sorbo Studios.com and you can see all the great movies we're doing because we're doing movies that Hollywood used to do.
Starting point is 00:53:00 One like Reagan, movies that have love and hope and faith and redemption and laughter. Because Hollywood's not doing that. And I'm trying to fill that void. They lost their sense of humor. They lost their sense of humor. To Blake's point, you know, all the things that Reagan took us out of. And yeah, you could quibble about the amnesty. you could quibble about the spending, of course.
Starting point is 00:53:20 But Blake's point is apt. The big takeaway from Reagan is that a singular leader can change the psychology of a nation, the way it views itself, and to pull us out of this liberal malaise, of this slow slide into socialism. The question is, Kevin, you were in Hollywood in the 80s. You witnessed Reagan firsthand, and you are still fighting for this country. Can we do it again? Yeah, I think this ship is turning.
Starting point is 00:53:46 It takes a long time to do it. but things are changing. It's even changing within Hollywood, which I think is pretty good. And they're not going to do it overnight, but they have reached out. And they're asking for scripts that have better messages in them. I mean, they seem to fall back in the same pattern of just doing a lot of CGI movies. They're moving to more AI movies now. But to me, I call them actors movies, and that's why I've been blessed to do with movies like God's Not Dead and Let the Be Light and Miracle News Texas.
Starting point is 00:54:13 I'm going to keep making movies that have a positive impact on people. I get stopped all the time. People don't talk. I mean, here I was on the most watched show in the world for seven years. I played Hercules on TV in the 90s. People don't stop me for that anymore. They stop because of the faith and family movies I do. And to me, that's far more important to me than anything else I've been part of.
Starting point is 00:54:30 So I've been very blessed to be able to do these kind of movies that have a positive impact on people. Yeah, and give us the URL one more time, Kevin, where people can follow you, follow your work, Reagan, as well as the other projects you're working on. Sorbo Studios.com. Just go Sorbo. studios. You all know what that is.com. A lot of information on there. Like a third of it is all my stuff. A third of it is my stuff. And the other third of it is my stuff and the other third is both of our things together because we work a lot together. So there's a lot of great information on that. In fact, my wife and I are hosting a trip to Greece next year. I hope people sign up
Starting point is 00:55:01 because we're going to walk in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul. And I do want to say one quick story when I first met Charlie. I met Charlie when he was 21. He and I were both speaking at an event in Steamboat Springs. And he was speaking before me. And I looked at my wife and I said, I got to follow this kid. Are you kidding me? I said, let me speak first, you know, but it's amazing what he's done and what he did. And all he did was give people a voice. And he did it with intelligence and love and kindness. And they killed him. And it's just, it's still shocking me. Last time I saw him was probably about six months before he was assassinated at Mar-a-Lago. I had a quick couple words with him, but, you know, he was getting pulled in every direction. But it was good to see him again.
Starting point is 00:55:39 And it's a tragedy what happened there. But God bless you guys for keeping this thing going. Thanks, Kevin. God bless you. You have more staying power than just about any other actor in Hollywood, and probably because they kicked you out. So God works in mysterious ways. Thank you, Kevin Sorbo. For nearly 3,000 years,
Starting point is 00:56:39 the Iliad has shaped the Western imagination. It tells the story of Achilles as he confronts in justice, rage, grief, responsibility, and the terrible costs of war. But Homer's epic is more than a story of ancient battles. It raises enduring questions about courage, duty, leadership, sacrifice, and self-command. Achilles is the greatest warrior among the Greeks, but Homer asks whether strength alone is enough to make a man truly great. By the way, Blake will attest. City Journal is an absolute national treasure. Tremendous work. Absolutely tremendous work.
Starting point is 00:57:53 You know, you don't have enough good. Yeah. Well, Kenneth, yeah, welcome. Welcome to the show. Good to see you. This is a bombshow. You took over the news cycle and social media over the, like, I guess, end of last week, over the weekend. And it really is terrifying, right? So you say California's shadow welfare system for illegal immigrants. And I have some firsthand experience that maybe I'll get a chance to share at some point. But tell us what you're reporting uncovered. Well, we went undercover and spoke to welfare officers across Southern California. We found a large number of these programs where you can sign up without being a citizen,
Starting point is 00:58:30 including those where you cannot be a citizen. And altogether, we know there's a minimum floor of about $11 billion a year being spent. That's just on Medi-Cal, though, the state Medicaid program for illegal immigrants. If we combine all the sources together for a model family of five, which has two illegal immigrant adults, a illegal grandparent, and two U.S.-born children, you're looking at cash and benefits of over $100,000 a year. So for $100,000, what are the, is the major source of that, I imagine, free health care? Do you break it out what those amounts are coming from? Right.
Starting point is 00:59:05 So there's one program called the cash assistance program for immigrants. It replaces SSI or disability for elderly or disabled non-citizens. That's about $14,000 a year. Of course, medical is a substantial amount of that. But you also have the benefits that are claimed on behalf of their U.S. born children. We have also food stamps. We have Section 8. And even we have cell phone plans with free cell phones, free cell phone plans, where you can sign up using a Mexican consular ID, food stamps for people over 55 who are illegally are starting in October of next year, and the spending is only set to continue growing. I'm just, I'm, wait, 100,000. Yeah, go ahead. I'm just, I'm looking at some of the facts on this, and I was doing a bit of math. You estimate in the article that they're spending more than
Starting point is 00:59:55 $11 billion a year subsidizing illegal immigrants at least. So I ran the numbers. That's about $278 for every person. California. If you take out the illegals, it's over $300. It's, I estimated about 3% of all of the state's tax revenue is specifically going into just those programs earmarked for illegals. And that's, again, not getting into anything else that's harder to track, the spending to do law enforcement for them, to provide education for their kids who probably need a lot more work. The amount of money that's funneled into this is truly staggering. Right. It's astronomical and it's only going to be continuing.
Starting point is 01:00:34 growing as we expand these programs. Remember, like the cell phone plan that we're talking about, Governor Newsom decided to eliminate the social security number requirement. Naturally, what comes from that is anyone can go ahead and sign up, no matter whether they're here legally or not. And right now, we see more discussions about extending the right to vote, even. Santa Ana, which is one of the most popular cities in California, had a measure that was advancing, ultimately failed, that would have allowed illegal immigrants to vote not just in school board elections, but in all local elections. So city council, mayor, that would be open to everyone. That's, yeah, I mean, and this is a trend we're seeing across the board and especially blue
Starting point is 01:01:15 enclaves where they are devaluing the, you know, citizenship of Americans, that they are diluting our voice and our share of the vote. Now, I, I have a personal experience with this. I can actually give some meat to the bones here. You know, my wife and I, when we had our youngest child, we noticed at the hospital that there was a legal couple having kids there. We didn't know they were legal, but their kid came premature. I ended up running into this individual on the street, and out of a sense of compassion for my fellow man, I was trying to just care about them. I assumed they were hard-pressed economically.
Starting point is 01:01:54 My wife and I tried to offer to help them, and they informed us that they were completely subsidized by the state, that everything was paid for and that they were actually getting care for that kid, that kid was getting free health insurance, that kid was getting, the entire hospital bill was paid for. And he was like, oh yeah, there was somebody at the hospital there that filled out all the paperwork for us, and we got it all for free. So we're okay. No, no big deal. And I was like, wait, so I had to pay my full deductible. I had to pay my insurance. I had to pay for everything thereafter. I have to pay for insurance for the kids for the rest of their lives. And this illegal immigrant, who I wanted to help, by the way, I was trying to
Starting point is 01:02:34 be nice to him because their kid was born premature. I just had a heart for him. And he got everything paid for. So this is now the rule. This is not the exception. This is the rule and the norm in the state of California. Am I basically accurate in that assessment? You're right. So a family in California to get that $100,000 or so dollars in benefits would have to make about $160,000 a year or more to buy these services for themselves in the private market. And remember, Americans pay taxes, but a lot of people who are here illegally are working under the table. They're not paying any taxes into a lot of what they earn. And so if you have to make $160,000, but someone can come here, report zero income and get everything paid for, that just doesn't seem fair. But to your point,
Starting point is 01:03:16 though, on this hospital, an emergency room situation, this is something happening all across the country because the federal government does reimburse for emergency and pregnancy-related care for people here illegally. That's such a valid and terrifying thought because we know, for example, that illegal immigrants, new immigrants, whether they're legal or not, tend to overutilize the emergency room and emergency services. And the federal government does reimburse for this. I mean, have you, do you guys have a plan for where you're going to investigate next? Is that something you're looking into? I mean, I can only imagine that if you extrapolate that, across the 50 states that the bill that the federal government is fronted with has got to be
Starting point is 01:04:04 enormous when we just consider that that bill alone. I have looked into it. I have that number elsewhere, but I have to say my focus is on California and you'll have a great time seeing what we come out with next on this. It's just remarkable to read this and you think about what a travesty is. We know so many people who they grew up in California, they left, they get depressed about it because California was basically paradise for the entire 20th century. And I think about the fact, what's one of the biggest issues we have going right now? It's AI. That AI boom is centered in California, which you think would mean tons of people must be moving in there.
Starting point is 01:04:41 They want to go there where there's this big industry that's making a ton of people rich. And no, California has messed itself up so badly that the middle class just can't stop leaving because it's become the sucker's game. California is a state for the very rich who don't need to worry about this and the very poor who are getting everything for free. If you're a person who's trying to get by on $85,000, on $100,000, even $250,000 a year, which we think of is a nice upper middle class income, you're just getting destroyed in California by every, you have to pay for every tax. You have to pay every form of tuition. You have to pay for every single thing. And then, yeah, a family of five, three of them illegal. $100,000 a year.
Starting point is 01:05:25 They get free health care, free education, free food, free smartphone, free everything. As the joke goes, you have these Democrat socialists who are saying, I want to provide free this or that. And if you're an illegal, that's already free. Exactly. It's definitely a K-shaped economy here. And people who are middle class, as you said, they are just leaving for other states. They're leaving for Arizona. They're leaving for Texas and Florida.
Starting point is 01:05:49 And it doesn't seem like that's going to change anytime soon. You have people who are completely post-economic and people who are entirely reliant on the government, and that seems to be where things are heading. One of the funniest things, Andrew, this went viral the other day. This is a tweet all the way from December of last year, but it went viral recently. Ezra Klein, big thought leader on the left. He came up with this whole abundance thing. And he literally tweeted this verbatim back in December.
Starting point is 01:06:14 President Trump, Trump often lies about Democrats giving health care to undocumented immigrants. In California, Gavin Newsom actually did it and defends. it. President Trump lies that the left, the Democrats, are giving all this free stuff to illegals, except for the fact that they do it. Two sentences right in the row. This is, yeah, this is actually a really important part of your story. You say, how is this all possible? Federal law generally prohibits states from using federal dollars to serve illegal aliens. To dodge those restrictions, California created parallel state and locally funded programs that allowed the state to extend benefits to illegal immigrants. Perhaps as a result, more than one in four
Starting point is 01:06:57 California residents today is foreign-born, which is, it should just boggle the mind to consider that. The people of California elected these people to use their taxpayers to do this. This is their value set. Or do you think that it's not? And they just don't understand what's happening. I like to think of it as if you bring up each of these programs one by one to a California voter, I think they'll think each of them is a good idea, right? That people deserve health care, people deserve food. They want to vote for that, and that's what they continue to support. But no one's really ever brought them the full cost.
Starting point is 01:07:32 When you combine it all together, you now have a wraparound services plus cash available to people who simply show up here. And I think they have not seen those numbers, and this is why we wrote this piece. I hope you're right. Because, I mean, you're talking Medicaid, you know, federal law. prohibit states from using federal dollars to provide wraparound coverage to illegal immigrants. So California used a state funding bucket with its Medi-Cal program to extend full-scope coverage to illegal aliens. The expansion enrolled 1.7 million people. 1.7 million illegals covered on this workaround, this parallel welfare state program out of California costing $10 billion annually.
Starting point is 01:08:17 Kenneth, this part is crazy to me. So CAPI, apparently, which is the state cash assistance for elderly disabled, says, quote, they're saying the quiet part out loud. This is what's nuts. If you are a citizen, you cannot get CAPI, or CAPI. I don't care about legal or not. Not being a citizen is the key. So we've gone from, you know, sort of shielding illegals from,
Starting point is 01:08:47 the Gestapo ICE to actually privileging them, benefiting them, preferring them. Explain the, I guess explain the rules and what do you think is behind this? I think people realize that they want to create these programs for people who are not citizens and they went around the federal prohibition by creating the state funded bucket of money for this. I wanted to bring this more into more concrete terms, though. I think we need to look at some of the reporting we did a few months back where we found at home. homeless illegal immigrant who had come to San Francisco from Central America and received taxpayer-funded breast implants to transition from being a man to being a woman. I remember that story. I do remember that story. I think we had Chris on about it. So they're funding this at the state level. They're creating special carbouts to get around federal bands. That said, is there any way that the
Starting point is 01:09:47 Trump administration could pressure them on that. It just feels on some level that taking a bunch of taxpayer money to specifically redirect it to give to people who are illegally in the country and not supposed to be here, it's got to have some potential to be breaking some law, some policy. Could they get retribution and cut off the supply of some taxpayer-funded program? Is there anything the administration can do besides complain about it? Right. I'll separate this into administrative and more congressional level actions. Administratively, CMS under Dr. Oz has been clawing back funds from California that it is illegally spending on people who are illegal immigrants. Number two is HUD under Secretary Turner is trying to amend the Section 8 program so that mixed
Starting point is 01:10:35 status families, that is families with people who are in this country illegally are not able to get any Section 8 benefits at all so that the people who are receiving Section 8 are people who are all eligible for the program. But when we look at the congressional side, of course, Congress has the ability to act in case any of these are thrown out by judges. We see judges try to stop the homelessness overhauls that the Trump administration is going for. Executive orders can all be overturned if Congress decides it wants to stop funding these programs
Starting point is 01:11:07 that go to illegal immigrants. Yeah, you know what's interesting here is, according to Cal Works, an illegal parent, this is from your reporting with a citizen child. So again, we go back to birthright citizenship. They get money for the child only. You get two children. You get money for two. So you're essentially incentivizing illegal immigrants
Starting point is 01:11:30 to have more and more anchor babies because they get more money. So the knock-on effects of when the Supreme Court blocks Trump's executive order stopping anchor babies or birthright citizenship, the knock-on effects is that blue states like California, will incentivize more U.S. born babies. That's right. And the biggest anchor baby programs that we see are Section 8, food stamps, CalWorks, TAMF, which is for low-income families.
Starting point is 01:11:58 The list goes on and on. And yes, it is encouraging a lot of people to come here illegally and to have children. And eventually they can be sponsors for eventual green cards or citizenship as well. Gosh, that's so frustrating. I mean, I'd like to know what our audience thing. Send us your emails, freedom at charleycirk.com, freedom at charleycirk.com. It's just so frustrating to me because this is just such a pristine example of the problem we've seen over and over again on criminal justice, on the trans issue. And here, which is you can go to a voter and say the left, they are taking money to directly fund it to illegals to give them free everything. They can get a free cell phone.
Starting point is 01:12:40 They can get free breast implants. They can get free tuition. They've made a program that is called cash assistance program for immigrants, and it is illegal to receive it if you are a U.S. citizen. They are changing laws so that you are less likely to be deported if you commit crimes. They will revoke your charges just to make sure a criminal can stay here. And a person will hear all of this, and they will just not believe you because it is too loopy. And we just see that over and over again, and it's so infuriating that the left gets to this benefit. of being so nuts that an ordinary person just decides not to believe the things they're doing
Starting point is 01:13:19 every single day. Right. A regular suburban voter is not going to hear what's happening in California and believe it's real. They think it's a right-wing talking point, but this is happening, and that's why our reporting here is so important. Yeah, and I'm so glad you're going to continue on with it. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with because the City Journal, you guys are doing great work. It's important work. And you brought up this fact that middle-class Californians are really getting squeezed, and I think it's so important that somebody used to live in that state, there is this feeling like you kind of can't get above a certain threshold because they're just going to tax you back down, right? Even if you have a good earnings year, they're going to tax
Starting point is 01:13:55 you 13.3 percent. You're going to feel it plus federal taxes, plus state and local. And it does keep you, it puts a ceiling on your ability to sort of get ahead and financial independence, which is not the American way. And this closing line, Kenneth, is so powerful. It's so powerful. It's so power if I want to read it verbatim, you say in other states, citizenship determines who qualifies. In California, it merely determines who pays. That's the California way. If you are a citizen in your middle class, that just means they get to bilk you for all the money to pay for the illegals. That's essentially the exchange you're making. Final thoughts, Kenneth. California dream used to be you could work hard, buy your own home and send your kids to a good
Starting point is 01:14:39 school. Now you have to become a millionaire to afford a basic single family home. You may or may not get that pool anymore and you'll have to spend to pay, to send your kids to private school. Meanwhile, someone can show up here and start getting all of those for free while you're still paying for it. That's not fair. It unfortunately, the California dream is now to come up and pick up welfare. Kenneth Shrup, this is powerful stuff. When can we expect your new reporting to come out? We'll see something coming out of the next few weeks, hopefully. All right. We're going to pay very, very close attention. You and Christopher Rufo are doing phenomenal work over there. And I know it's a whole team. It's just on the right, we have too few investigative journalists. We have two few outlets that are doing this really critical work. So Kenneth Shrup, congratulations on a bombshell story. We know that you've got more coming. So we're going to keep tabs on that. God bless you, man. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:15:41 Thank you.
