As the miners scrambled to safety, they’d try to grab the dead canary and then immediately revive it with... pure oxygen, condemning it to a constant loop of singing, panicking, dying and then singing again. Hello team, Stu here. I am going on tour and to Edinburgh. And I've sort of alluded to this a lot previously, but I haven't, this is me officially launching it. The show is called Canary. It's another climate comedy show. It's my best show yet. I did it last night at Chops. And me initiated a preview together. And despite the fact it was the hottest day of the year, which lent the whole climate comedy proceedings a certain,
sweaty, piquancy.
It was an absolute banger.
Thank you to everyone that came to that.
And I'm so excited to tell you,
I'm taking the show on tour.
I'm doing work-in-progress shows.
I've got shows coming up before August,
exit a comedy festival.
I've got the comedy crate in Northampton,
Guilford, London, Shrewsbury,
and Swindon Comedy Festival as well.
And then I'm at the Edinburgh Festival
for the last two weeks of August.
I'm just doing the second half,
like some sort of smooth operator,
basically, because I can't imagine
taking a month-long bite out of my children's school holidays for the foreseeable,
but we're doing the second two weeks. It's going to be at Monkey Barrel, at Cabaret Voltaire at
1245pm. I absolutely cannot wait. And then a national tour in the autumn. On tour I'm going to
my favourite places on tour Cambridge, Glasgow, Oxford, Manchester, Cardiff, Maidenhead, Sheffield and Birmingham.
And then I'm finishing the tour with my biggest ever show yet. It's going to be Bristol Old Vic,
in the main house where the big kids go. It's like 500 tickets, which is more than I've ever sold
for one gig before, but I'm feeling pretty, I'm feeling pretty something about it. I think it is
confidence. I do feel confident. It's a big old mission. And let's, why don't we observe,
Stuart observers can observe over the next few months whether I start sounding desperate or not,
but I feel like in Bristol I can do it. And so that's going to be a big old show. I haven't
quite worked out yet what I'm doing in terms of support. Normally what I would do on tour is run in the
next show in like the art, like do the tour show, then a break, then run in new stuff for the next
show. But I've spent three years working on this show and it's all my best stuff. And so who knows
what will happen? I may have support, but don't apply to be my support if you're listening to this
and thinking, hey, I may do a call out for that at some point in future, but this certainly isn't
it. And I might just get kind of and friends to come and do it. I basically, I'm so, I'm so
excited. The artwork is sensational. And you can find out everything at Stuart Goldsmith.com
slash comedy. I'm just, I'm just feeling a bit giddy because it's such a nice thing to be able
to announce. This is, this is it. My first tour in eight years. That's nearly two children ago.
and the world was very different eight years ago
as I don't need to tell you
I've done a separate video about this
but reform weren't a thing
we were still technically in the EU
eight years ago
I think is it the 10th anniversary
at the moment of the Brexit referendum
but it didn't get done for a while
and so I think we were still in the EU
and Britain's hottest recorded temperature
was a mere 35.6 degrees
way back then
so we're going to
sort all of that out. The show is called,
did I tell you a bit more about it? It's basically
the first show, spoilers, the first climate show,
was about me meeting the climate crisis.
And this one is me grappling with the problem of whether
individual action can actually make a difference.
And although at one point in the show, I do say, look,
there's no end, there's no, the show doesn't end with me
solving the climate crisis. I have thought long and hard about
this and interviewed over 100 sustainability people
from all sorts of positions on climate.
And as a result, I do genuinely think I have a fiercely hopeful, positive message that is to do with stuff that you and we can do.
My vision for this show is to create something that when you're worried about the climate, when you're having a wobble, and it's understandable to have a wobble.
It's a really understandable position that someone can say, oh, are you wobbling about the climate?
You should watch this show.
So I hope that is what I've achieved.
I feel on the strength of last night, I feel like it is what I've achieved.
And Mac as well was the other kind of keynote preview where I've gone,
oh yeah, proof of concept, this all works.
And it's just so fun.
And it's got some of my best ever jokes in it.
I don't know what to tell you.
Come and see it.
Stuartgoldsmith.com slash comedy for all your tickets.
That's the hub, the node where everything is pointing.
And I'm really, really excited for you to see it.
So if you're not in any of those places on tour,
Bridge, Glasgow, Oxford, Manchester, Cardiff, Maidenhead, Shefford and Birmingham, and
Bristol, and indeed Bristol, if you can't see it at the Edinburgh Festival in the last two weeks
of August, then try and come and see a whip, because it is now whipping to a high quality.
In Exeter, Northampton, Guildford, London, Shrewsbury and Swindon.
There may be more London dates finding their way in there soon as well.
But that's it. Pretty good stuff, right?
See you soon.
