Steamer here. Give me the dirt.
Hey, Steamer, my kids want a dog. What do you think?
In a way, your kids already have pets. And by pets, I mean the billions of bacteria living in your carpets,
couch and in the rugs right now. And they're not that cute. So call Stanley Steamer and we'll take care of it.
Then maybe start with a goldfish. They won't pee on your carpet.

I don't trust anyone who says Beyonce's overrated.
At all. At all. Like immediately,
I blacked out after that
rest of that conversation. I just said.
Didn't hear a word. I said, oh, okay.
Next. Next. What's it like being so wrong?
Hey, everyone, and welcome back to another episode
of the comment section show. Sorry, me,
your favorite. Everybody knows me.
It's today I am a traffic light.
It's Halloween, bitch. On my show,
I pick the world's worst costumes
and I wear them to the show. And I don't tell my
guest so my guest isn't dressed up as anything. Speaking of the guests, we have the wonderful,
the amazing, the iconic, the legendary, Tinashe. Hey!
Woo!
How's it going? Good. How are you? Good. Thanks for having me. Oh my gosh, of course.
I'm fired up to have you. I wish I wore a costume. I know. I don't like to tell people because
I feel like they feel, they feel too pressure. Okay. And that's why I was like, I'll be something
really ugly for both of us. Okay. I like it though. I think it's cute.
My gosh, thank you so much. Men's section, Target, if you're interested, Tinochet. I'll let you
have it on the way out.
Okay, great.
I don't have my costumes picked out yet.
Traffic light.
It hits every time.
Good to know.
It also lights up, but I can't find the button, so, oh, wait, here we go.
Let's take her for a spin.
How embarrassing.
She literally broke.
I was afraid to get to it.
Anyways, nobody gives a fuck about my costume.
On to you.
I am so honored to have you.
I'm a huge fan.
Thanks for having me.
And I have something vulnerable to share with you, Tinasha.
Okay.
When I was in college, I had.
so many of your songs. Really?
On all my little thoughty playlist.
Period. I love that. I love that for me. Not for cash just for fun.
I love it for us. Your song Link Up.
Thanks. Yep. I put all the bitches on. Thank you.
I said turn it up and put that song on. Thanks. It hits every time. It does. I'm a huge
fan. Thank you so much. And how have you been lately? I know you just came out with an album.
Yeah, just dropped like maybe a couple weeks ago so it feels very fresh. I'm excited about it.
I'm always just on to the next.
like putting out new music, you know, ready to tour and get on the road.
Absolutely.
I'm going on tour.
That's really strange.
How exciting.
Is it solo tour?
Do you have opening acts?
Well, it's with Shy Girl.
Oh, okay.
That's really fun.
Oh, how fun.
It's going to be like a great link up.
Yeah.
Link up.
Link up.
Bad bitch just link up.
Exactly.
It's going to be a show.
The girls can get it, get it.
Yeah.
How exciting.
When is your tour start?
October 28th.
Oh my gosh.
Right and spooky season.
Right.
Right on time.
Right.
us. Yeah, so I don't know what I'm going to wear for Halloween yet. Do you do costumes at shows?
That's what I have to think about that, you know? Yeah, because you got to think like logistically,
because you're a big dancer too. Yeah, I mean, it has to be able to be movable. Yeah. Do you like being
stuff that's like unique? I like to be, yeah, I like to go for something that's kind of like outside the box.
I feel you. Same. Something that people wouldn't expect. Yeah. But sometimes I, I, I like to go for something.
I don't put in the effort to, like, actually come up with that idea.
I feel you.
And then I get stuck with, like, the last minute.
Like, we're going to party city.
We're grabbing whatever we can find that's leftover.
So, yeah, a couple years ago, I was the poop emoji.
Oh, love that.
It was an inflatable one, or was it just the fun?
It had, like, a fan that, like, pumped me up.
So all night, like, I was, like, dancing on it.
It would just refill.
So that was great.
I think that's always fun.
That was probably, like, peak.
Yeah, when you're like your most comfy.
Yeah.
No one can see anything but my face.
It was a vibe.
That's fucking awesome.
I went to Halsey's Halloween party.
Period.
We love that.
A celebrity one is even funnier.
Yeah, it was good.
Yeah, you show up.
Did they have a carpet?
And then I took a picture with Tovlo and then I think like years later I started a concert.
Oh, and she was like, were you the poop?
She's like, oh, the poop.
I remember you.
Yeah, for sure.
I remember that.
I could never forget you.
Yeah.
It's an icebreaker.
Yeah.
And they'll never forget you.
Right.
And it was comfy.
And then you could just dance all night.
Just absolutely.
Can you imagine getting schooled in a dance panel by a poop emoji?
Yeah.
That would be really embarrassing.
That's a big one of these.
I'd take one of those home.
Big one.
Yeah.
Massive.
Massive.
I'm glad you like a fun costume.
I love a fun costume.
I think Halloween's fun.
I think it's a good time.
I was just telling her that I was the Hulk last year and my boyfriend was
Hulk too. And everyone was like, aren't they cousins? And I was like, well, they're make-believe,
so. Yeah. Who knows? So, and what are there? This is our version of the Hulk.
Yeah. I'm like, well, even if they were, what are you going to do about it? Nothing? Just kidding.
It's okay. They make-believe. The hulks are not real, so it's all right. Yeah, last year I was
Dennis Rodman, but... That's awesome. Yeah, it was fun. Yeah. I went for like a classic fit,
but it was also one of those where you kind of had to explain it to people. Because everyone thought
I thought I was Ice Spice.
Because I had like a little, like a little, I tried to do like a low cut, so I had like a little wig.
Yeah.
And then they were like, oh, who are you, Ice Spice?
I was like, no, I'm Dennis Rodman.
I'm Ice Spice dressed as Dennis Rodman.
Right.
That's what you should say.
Right, right, right, right.
There's a lot of layers to this costume.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
So, so this year I'm hoping to knock over something that I have to explain.
I feel that.
I feel that.
Because like my initial instinct was to be that girl on the plane.
That girl.
That girl.
Hey, that's funny.
Hey, that's funny.
But then I was like, I'm going to have to the whole night.
I'm going to have to be like,
but then you get to say the quote though.
All night.
Hold on.
Let me say the quote.
You'll know exactly who I'm.
Anytime someone's like, who are you?
I just think, right now.
I'm telling you.
That motherfucker is not real.
And you know what?
I got the slick back.
Yeah.
A skinny gene.
A black rubber flip-flop.
Feel like a tank top.
And like a tote bag.
Yeah.
I think that's funny.
Boom.
I think that's so funny.
As like a dickhead on TikTok, I find that hilarious.
Yeah.
I think that's a great.
And then you get a...
Shout out to her though.
You have a catchphrase all night then.
I know.
But I would be so...
Yeah.
That's an option.
I do think you're right though as far as like having to explain it over and over again.
It's not one of those instant like someone sees me walking down the street.
They're going to be like, oh, the girl from the plane, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I kind of want that instant.
Boom.
I feel you.
When I was a freshman, I think, in college, I lived in Hawaii.
And on Halloween, everyone just goes into town and just walks in their costumes.
Like, everything's like a huge thing.
And so my friends and I were spring breakers that year.
That sounds fun.
Because that movie had just come out.
So we just wore bathing suits and we bought hot pink beanies and just cut the holes in them.
Perfect.
And then we just wore them all night.
And it was big hit.
But one of my friends got too fucked up before we left, so she forgot to cut her holes.
So she was just a dickhead and a beanie.
Okay.
They were like, so Spring Breakers and what is she supposed to be?
It was literally like the holes in the beanie made the biggest different.
Like she was just wearing it on her head.
It went from specific to like.
Yeah.
They were like and friend.
Spring Breakers and friend.
That's a good costume though.
I love a group costume.
That's an easy one.
If you want to like do that on stage, you're welcome.
I don't have a good, I don't have a big enough girl squad.
You don't think?
Not even on tour?
But then you got a dancing in a bikini though.
Yeah
That's a commitment
I gotta think of a full squad
costume you right
I should really really like get serious about this
If you do that I'd like credit
TNashi if that's cool
I'll show you out
Just make sure TM TM TM
I got you
So I'm so happy you're here
And I'm so happy you just dropped new music
Like I said I've been a big fan for a while
So I'm happy that everyone's getting fed
by the claim herself once again.
Thank you.
Yeah, it's so fun.
Yeah, I'm excited about the new stuff.
I think it has like stuff that you can dance to,
stuff that you feel really sexy to.
It's got like the whole range.
Yeah, absolutely.
As someone who's been in the music industry for a minute,
like do you see a huge shift in like how music is marketed,
like especially with things like TikTok in the works?
Yeah.
Or how it's like even like released.
Because I feel like sometimes people tease.
stuff and they see how it does and then if it doesn't perform well they don't drop it kind of thing.
It's an entirely different landscape than I think when I first started making music.
And just to see how quickly it's changing is it's really interesting because it always makes you
have to adapt. And I think that that's that's cool. And it's good to be aware of the changes.
But I think when I first got in the game, you know, there was people were selling physical copies
of albums. Like you're looking at much more long-term roll-off.
more long-term, you know, just eras.
And I think now, obviously, with consumer culture, everything is so much quicker, so much faster, consume so much quicker.
The audience is ready for more at such a faster rate.
And you're constantly basically just playing a game of like maintaining relevancy in a marketplace
and kind of balancing when you maintain that relevancy, when you kind of step away to kind of re, you know, group as an artist because you have to have those moments.
as well where you're like in the studio and just like in your vibe.
Yeah.
So it's just, yeah, it's always, it's always changing.
Yeah.
Do you think, I'm so curious.
Do you think it's like harder now since you said like it's so much faster?
Like everyone needs it a lot quicker and they need more faster.
Yeah.
Do you think it's harder to kind of like find new sounds like find?
Because you know, I'm assuming you have to evolve as an artist, right?
Oh, yeah.
Totally.
But to still keep like the genesis of like,
what you love, like what genre you are, whatever.
But do you think it's harder to evolve as an artist?
I think, yeah, I think you kind of touched on an interesting point because I do think
that there's something to be said for when artists feel some type of momentum, just
wanting to continue to put out the same type of product over and over again.
Yeah.
Because I think it, you know, you want to continue to keep the ball rolling.
You don't want to kind of like stop that and like take a step back to like really kind of
reevaluate your position as an art.
artist, but I think at the end of the day, who you are at a core, I think that'll translate
through your music regardless if it comes from a really genuine place. So whether you're making
something that sounds, you know, like something you've done in the past or like something
totally fresh and different, if it comes from, you know, a real place of, you know, this is what I love
or like, this is, this is my artistry. This is really true to who I am and I'm not trying to follow
any trends. I think as soon as you try, that's when you mess up.
Like as soon as you're like, oh, let me chase what the charts sound like.
Let me try to make something that sounds hot.
Or like let me make something at like a particular BPM that, you know, they're playing in the clubs right now.
I think that's when you mess up.
You've got to just let all of those.
Yeah.
Stick to what people love you for in the first place.
And just stick to what you love.
Yeah.
Stick to what's true to you.
If you want to evolve.
Evolve.
If you want to do something that feels familiar, do that.
But like I think that when it comes from you, that's people.
can tell the difference. Yeah. I think audiences are a lot smarter than people think sometimes. So they can
tell when they're like... They can sniff it out. Yeah. And they are rabid. Music fans are rabid. I feel like
God did me a service not giving me any sort of musical gift literally at all. I cannot sing for shit,
not even a little bit. I wish I could. Yeah. But I think I'd be too powerful. Too powerful. I think
it'd be an unchecked power. It's true. But I'd also like freak the fuck out. I would get really,
really stressed out really quickly, I think, because the industry moves so quickly and it's...
It's a tough, it's a tough business.
Yeah.
It's tough.
And you have to have both a thick skin and, like, a really strong sense of who you are.
Yeah.
Because it's very easy to get deterred by just conversation, whether it's, like, from the public or...
Yeah, absolutely.
People.
What was your, like...
When did you really start, like, making music, like, professionally?
Like, what age?
Well, I was in a girl group when I was 14.
So that was when I started like recording in studios and like seeing how that process worked.
And so I guess that was when I professionally started making music.
I was 14, 15, 16.
So I was in that group for maybe four years.
Oh, wow.
And taught me a lot.
Because I had no music experience prior to that other than, you know, I mean like in the school orchestra.
Yeah, just like singing.
Yeah, but never professionally.
Yeah.
And that's young.
14's young.
for sure.
But it jumpstarted me into this whole mindset.
Like, okay, this is great.
I'm going to use this as like my jump off point.
I'm going to use this experience that I've built.
I put a studio in my bedroom and started recording my music there.
And that's basically how I just started my career.
I put things online and then I went solo.
I remember the first song I heard of yours was Two On.
Yes.
Love that.
A classic.
A classic.
I love Two On.
Two On.
It was a hit.
It really is.
Hit after hit.
It's stood the test of time.
Yeah.
Do you still hear it now?
Is it weird to hear your own stuff now?
Especially your old stuff?
I wouldn't say it's weird.
Not anymore, huh?
No, it's nice.
Cool.
I was so curious if it's like, you know when you record yourself for the first time and then
you hear your voice and you're like, I'm the ugliest person on planet Earth?
Yeah.
I was curious if that happens with music artists.
I think what you notice is like how you sound different from what you hear in the past.
No, like music that you've recorded in the past.
Oh, T.
record now. Yeah, and you're like, oh, this is a much different vibe. Yeah, just, I don't know,
I sound different a little. Like, you just hear it. I love that. I think that's great. I don't
know anything about music, literally at all. I have no guess. You should come hang out in the studio.
Girl, don't turn me with a good time. You say in the studio, I did play the flute in middle school.
Nice. I played the violin. Ooh, nice. A strings girl. Love that for you. Also, big fan of your
jealous remix. Oh, period. Big fan. Everyone says that.
their favorite version. Tynache. Yeah. You know what's funny? Sometimes
one of my hair makeup artists, he was like, who are your guest today? I was like, oh, it's T'Noshe.
And he goes, oh, she's on the jealous remix. I was like, yeah. And he goes, of jealous.
Yeah. I love that. He was like, that's the only version of that song I like. And I said, T.
See, bitch. Shout out to Nick J. And Tynache. And Tynacet.
Okay, so speaking of you being in the industry, right? Today, what our topic is,
We're going to be talking about why female music artists are held to a much higher standard.
Oh, of course.
Which in many, many, many different ways, as per usual, women are.
Women are in general.
Especially in, I feel like, high visibility industries.
So, like, any sort of entertainment, whether it's, like, music, modeling, acting, whatever it may be.
I feel like it's the same kind of energy where if women, like, female artists aren't, like, doing the absolute most, like, with,
costuming, staging, dancing, singing.
Then they're like, ah, it's not that good.
But then you have men who just stand there in a normal t-shirt and jeans and they play for
two hours straight, no breaks, no fun stuff.
It's just very standard.
And then they're like, oh, he's so deep.
He's such a cultured artist.
You know what I mean?
He doesn't need all the fancy shit.
Oh my gosh.
Just a genius.
Yeah, I mean, I think that that comes from a culture of, you know, competition when it
comes to women.
Yeah.
I feel like we've been culture, you know, from time.
Society has made us believe that we have to compete against one another in order to, like, have a seat at the table because there's not so many seats.
Yeah.
So I think that when it comes to why women have to be exceptional, it's because, you know, there's, that we feel as if there isn't room for less.
Yeah, absolutely.
Like you won't be seen otherwise.
Yeah.
Or rewarded for your hard work or anything like that.
Yeah.
It's very like women are required to be exceptional and men are allowed to be mediocre.
Oh, yeah, all the time.
In many different ways.
Many ways.
And I also think, too, because you're also like a dancer too.
So you dance and you sing.
Yeah.
And there are some women that don't dance at all.
For sure.
Some of them do all of it.
And some of them do none of it.
And I think it's like, it's like when they have not great costumes or they don't dance or whatever, it's just criticism.
Yeah.
I mean, I think it's interesting because I do think.
that depending on
like how you present
in the industry definitely has an effect over
like your audience and like which spaces
you can potentially maintain and I think that
that's always an interesting like thought
that probably a woman has to face
when she goes into thinking like okay what's my
brand like what am I selling here like
what is my art say and like how am I packaging this
and the fact that we even have to like take those things
into consideration like men probably do not
so like here's my art and they just kind of like spit it out
Yeah.
But yeah, I think that that's something that we definitely have to consider whether it is giving this, like, great, big, you know, live performance or it's having, like, a very intimate performance or it's, like, super stripped back or you're going no makeup or you're going really natural.
Like all those things say a lot about a woman, you know, in terms of, like, how culture perceives them.
And I think that's also how they perceive their music as well.
So that's a whole thing.
said too where it also fuels consumers to compare.
So it's not just you feeling like you have to compare.
It's like you're going to be compared.
So that's why they're like, well, take so on, take so.
They're so different.
They're so different.
They could be very different genres.
They could be different vibes entirely.
I think like when you don't know how to dance and you don't dance, that's cool.
We're cool with that.
Sure.
You're a lot of arms.
That's cool.
You're cool with that.
There has to be space for everyone.
That's the thing.
Do what you got to do.
There is.
That's probably like the biggest lie that, you know, we subscribe to is that there isn't space for everyone there absolutely is.
Like being able to see artists of all different types and colors of the rainbow and into different things.
Like that's what gives us a well-rounded, you know, creative landscape.
I think that's so important.
But it's, it's, you know, it's this lie that we feel that, okay, there's only enough room for the two of us.
Yeah.
The three of us, like, how are we going to do get out?
Yeah, it's truly, that's men's fault.
I blame them for everything.
That's kind of my thing.
Men are going to clip that and be like, see, she fucking said.
That was a joke.
Relax.
It was a joke.
Okay, for those of you who are new, what we do here on the comment section is I bring
videos that I was tagged in, and then we talk about them.
They're applicable to our topic, and we laugh, Kiki, all the fun things.
So in this first video, I just have to describe them.
In this video, a man on a podcast.
ass, uh-oh, bad start.
Says he thinks Beyonce is overrated, right with quotes.
He says her fans are annoying and that she has so many people doing work for her,
cooking and cleaning for her, basically implying that she has so much free time to make music
because other people are doing work for her.
What does that have to do with not liking the music?
What does cooking and cleaning have to do with her being-
That's a hater.
Yeah, it's a hater bitch.
Hater.
I don't trust anyone who says Beyonce's overrated.
At all.
At all.
Like, immediately, I blacked out after that rest of that conversation.
Didn't hear a word.
I said, oh, okay.
Next.
Didn't hear nothing else.
Next.
What's it like being so wrong?
Yeah.
I just tune you out.
Like, you turn into wallpaper at that point.
What's it like being so incredibly fucking wrong?
Did you go see Beyonce tour?
I didn't.
You haven't?
You know what's so crazy?
I was like, in my mind, I was like, oh, I'll just like get tickets.
Like, they'll just like appear.
because like somehow
I usually just get lucky
and like I just get tickets
manifest it
I just a lot for girl
I did not get Beyonce tickets
no one gave me Beyonce tickets
if you're watching this
make sure you get tenacious
and yeah
so I'm gonna have to like go
yeah I'm gonna have to fly somewhere or something
you should I know I recommend it
did you see it here yes I saw her twice here
Hucky
I saw her
the second end the birthday show
damn period love that
okay they asked me like I remember when I went
second time I went with her new hair brand that's coming out. I don't know. What's her hair?
Like she hasn't dropped anything. What's the tea? It's just like I literally have so so many people
when we posted about it like me and the other people that were invited. A lot of people were like,
why do they keep calling it Beyonce's hair brand? That's so cheesy. They literally told me I had to
call it that because I don't know the name. They wouldn't tell any of us. Oh, it's a secret secret.
Yeah, we don't know the name of it. We don't know what it is.
Like what products are coming out if they are.
I love advertising a brand that no one knows the name of it.
It's real secret.
So, so.
Very, very secret.
So chic.
I know.
And I met Tina Knowles, which is really cool.
Sick.
She's nice.
Beautiful woman.
That doesn't surprise me at all.
No, literally.
I'm like, big fan of your work.
By your work, I mean your daughter.
And she laughed.
Win for me.
Nice.
But even like, when I saw her the second time, I was like, they were like, oh, do you
want to go again?
I'm like, yeah.
Yeah, I'll go again.
24 hours later, and I went again.
Duh.
Cried like it was the first time I saw it.
Period.
Such a big fan of hers.
I think people are like, I genuinely I was like, I don't think there's many, if not any,
artists in the world alive or dead that could be on the same level as her.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
I think that's real.
Name them on one hand.
Like, there is not many.
But I feel like men who criticize her immediately know.
Immediately know.
I'm not listening, not even a little bit.
I wouldn't listen to however you identify.
Listen, there's certain conversations that, like, I'll argue with you about.
Like, I'll back and forth with you about.
But then there's certain ones that, like, if I hear an opinion that's, like, just too dumb, like, I don't, I won't argue with you.
Like, you can't argue with an idiot.
So if someone says that, it's just like, okay.
What's it like being fucking stupid?
Can't relate.
Can't relate.
What's your sign?
Aquarius.
I love that.
Love that.
I love Aquarius women.
Aquarius men.
I agree.
Aquarius men, I'm like...
I don't...
I can't...
I don't clean them.
Yeah.
But Aquarius girls...
So I don't claim virgo men.
Vertgo men.
The devil.
I don't really know any virgo men.
You don't?
Tienache.
Nick Jonas is a Virgo.
Oh.
Okay.
Okay.
Explains a little...
No, I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
That was not unrelated.
to my devil comment.
I was talking about a different
Virgo man I've interacted with.
Okay.
But I just think that I would kill
another Virgo man.
Like if I could never like
be in a relationship with another Virgo man.
Mm-hmm.
There's no way.
We'd kill each other.
Yeah. But like signs on like
same signs.
It's kind of weird.
It is.
It's very strange.
Yeah.
Every time someone tells me
they're the same sign
as their significant other,
I'm like.
And you're okay with that?
It just makes me like,
it just gives me pause.
You know?
That's fair.
That's fair.
Virgo men, I always describe them as like,
I feel like Virgo men are like, you know,
when there's like a children's birthday party
and like there's a pinata.
And then there's one grown man who gets in line.
And then he's like too rough with the pinata.
That's a Virgo.
That man's a Virgo.
He actually smashes it and the kids probably.
It's too much.
It's too much.
Like that's a Virgo.
We didn't get to.
Like when you play a board game
and he flips the board game
because he's losing, lose all the pieces.
That's a Virgo man.
Yeah, I just feel like Virgo man
are two competitive in big nodels and I would know because I am a Virgo.
Okay.
And I can't handle that ick in a man.
Yeah, I'm pretty competitive too.
Are you?
Yeah.
That's a good thing.
Yeah.
I love that.
Okay.
That's why you're so successful.
True.
Do you have any Virgo in your chart?
No.
None at all?
I mean, maybe like deep.
Yeah, one of the, you know.
Do you know your big three though?
Yeah.
What is it?
Leo, moon, Taurus, rising.
I sensed.
I sensed Taurus for me.
You did?
I did, yeah.
What gives you tourists?
I think it's like your very like grounded nature.
I feel like you're very grounded.
Someone else in that recently.
Yeah.
Maybe I'm starting to relate more with tourists.
I didn't like ever really relate.
Yeah.
From what I understand, my very loose understanding of it,
astrological people are, don't be mean to me.
But like your rising is like what people perceive you to be
and your son's like who you really are.
And then your mom's emotions, right?
So maybe that's why I got tourists.
Right.
Period.
I love that.
Men who hate me hate when I talk about astrology because they're like,
that shit's not fucking real.
Also, neither is fantasy football and you do that every year, don't you?
Make no money off of it, do you?
That's what I thought.
Okay, back to this video about Beyonce.
This guy being a fucking buffoon.
One of these comments says,
100% overrated, boring tunes.
Toons.
Boring tunes.
From the 1950s?
No wonder you don't like Beyonce.
This next one says,
Agreed, overrated and overproduced.
Overproduced?
Overproduced.
In what way?
Heirs.
I'm like literally look up.
You sound like they sound jealous.
They do.
They do.
It's like one of those things where it's like popular to like things that are universally loved.
Right.
Because like overproduced as in like it's awesome.
I'm like look up her singing halo acoustically and I'm all.
And you tell me if that shit's overproduced bitch, me getting fucking upset.
This last one says too much.
vocal acrobatics.
I love that too, because
like she's too good. It's too much
like up and down. Yeah. Too many notes.
It's just too skillful as a
vocalist. It's just confusing
for me. Skilful vocalists.
That's literally my hate comment from my
burner because I can't sing at all.
Just me being a fucking aider.
Exactly. Sounds like they're jealous.
Okay, this
next video says
this is
oh, it was MTV's TikTok account.
They posted a clip from Megan the Stallion's performance of Bongo's at the VMAs.
Mm-hmm.
And people in the comments were upset.
These are all men.
Yeah, these are all men.
Shocker.
Yeah, shocker.
Men don't like when...
What didn't they like about it?
Oh, man.
This first one says trash-ass music.
People that like this have no clue or taste of what good music is.
I just feel like what's the measure?
Like, if you ask that guy, like, what's your measure of, like, great music?
He's going to say some bullshit ass like counting crows or some shit like that.
That's what I mean.
That's like a generic hate comment.
Like I see a lot of hate comments in my day.
And like that one is like that's not a hitter.
You know like that doesn't even like that doesn't even hurt.
I'm bored actually.
It's just so general.
It's like you don't know music.
It's like okay.
Like that doesn't even mean anything.
You're like well I get paid to do it and you don't.
So which one of us do you think like logistically probably knows more about music?
Like period.
If we were to measure accolades and who's been rewarded financially and with fame,
I'd say that one of us knows music a little bit better than the other.
You know what I mean?
Well, and also, like, men like that, they say some,
they're like the same fucking bitch-ass dude that, like, you wear a Led Zeppelin shirt to the gym.
And then they're like, bet you don't even...
Name five Led Zepplin songs.
Huh?
Bet you don't even know that.
Where'd you get that?
Just buy it from Target.
Yeah.
It's like, it's a fucking T-shirt.
Yeah.
What if I said Led Zeppelin gave it to me themselves?
Yeah.
For being the number one fan in the world.
That would be a good story, though.
I just think it's like, it's exhausting to watch men perceive music that is almost always only associated with black women or women of color and be like, this music is fucking garbage.
Well, yeah, but maybe there's another reason why you feel that way.
Look at it.
It's also not made for you.
No shit.
Like it is not made for you
But I bet you they looked up that music video though
Huh
Watched it a little, rewinded it a couple times
Watched it in slow motion
Played it back in point five
Watched it a few times
They said the same thing about WAP
When WOP came out
And that was my number one song that year
That was a hit! That was a hit! That was not a good
That was a smash
Yeah that was my most played song of that year
The year that was my most played song of that year
That was 365 days bitch
That's how many times I listened to that fucking
fucking song. Yeah. It's fun.
Pretty iconic. I think fun music
and like music that makes you feel
hot, music that makes you like want to go out
with your friends and have a good time.
Who's to say that's bad? I agree.
According to who, that's why I said, what's the gauge?
Like, and then every artist they name is white
and a man, so I'm like, well, see.
Yeah. That's a different problem.
That's a different problem. That's not taste. That's
racism. Yeah. Look into it.
No, it's really true. A lot of guys,
not all guys a lot of guys are like embarrassed to like yeah listen to women music no like
like in general and also music but like in music yeah in general too like yeah they they don't have
any women in their playlist that's weird that's fucking weird yeah I don't know why you're a weirdo
dude check your play check your playlist ratio and make sure it's unpacking
You know what I mean?
Why is that?
Why are you feeling that way?
Why do you have all these feelings that are related to like your visceral hatred towards women?
It might be deeper than just music.
They always say something so random too.
They're like, oh, you've never, oh my God, this is a perfect example.
I have another podcast with my sister and we were talking about the movie, Barnyard.
Do you remember that movie?
I have never seen Barnyard.
I missed that one.
Teen Asha, you've never seen Barney.
I miss that one.
It's basically a shitty little, it's fucking animated movie.
And it's about farm animals and they can all talk and walk on their hind legs, but they like act like they can't when the farmer's around.
Anyways, me giving you the plot of part.
Oh my God.
Anyways, one of the cows, he's like a, he's a party cow.
Like he doesn't take his job seriously.
And his dad's like in charge.
And his dad's like serious.
He's like, you got to grow up.
Whatever.
There's this scene in the movie where the dad cow is playing a banjo.
And it's a song that I thought was Johnny Cash.
And I was talking on the podcast.
And I was like, I don't know. I think it was like a Johnny Cash song.
Bitch, the amount of people that jumped down my fucking throw.
And they were like, you don't know that that song's by Tom Petty.
Bitch, look at me.
Do I look like I listen to Tom Petty?
No, right?
Like, be serious.
For once in your life, do I look like Tom Petty's demographic?
Mm-mm.
I would think not.
No, probably not Target.
I literally had a girl be like, I unfollowed you on everything because it couldn't know Tom Petty.
Oh, my God.
I unfollowed you on everything.
Tom Petty.
In fact, block me because fuck you and fuck Tom Petty.
How about that?
Just kidding, Tom Petty.
I don't know if he's alive.
Does anyone know if Tom Petty's alive?
No, he does.
I'm so sorry.
Rest and peace.
Peace and love.
Tom Petty.
Peace and love.
Rest and peace.
When the sillies go too far,
peace and love, Tom Petty.
But anyways, I was like,
my point being,
I didn't know who the fuck that song was by
and they took it personally.
Damn.
But it's always like they reference
like one very specific,
like,
niche, like, and by niche, I mean, like, it's a very specific audience.
Mm-hmm.
Artists, and it's always an older man, and they're like, that's real music.
No, literally.
According to who?
Your grandpa, probably.
Probably.
But according to me, not so much.
Yeah.
Doesn't move.
Doesn't move me.
You big Tom Petty fan?
No.
No, personally.
It's not for me.
It's okay.
And that's another.
That's okay.
A serious note
Music is an art form
And art is subjective
So it's like
Not everything is for everyone
And not everything is curated
For one specific person
But that brings us back to the beginning
Of our conversation
Yeah
There is room for everyone
Yeah that's what I'm saying
That's what I'm saying
Yeah
That's why I'm always
I'm a big fan of like
Like what you like
And not being embarrassed
Let people like what they like
No shit
That's like some people like
bongo some people like Tom Petty
and I don't know if there's someone
who's in between or likes both but if you are
it's probably you know
people that ride the waves
I'm sure
this next comment says this is our generation
of women guys
get a load of this
it's our generation of women
it's like two very
successful women in rap
music
well that's just a slushy me comment
but I don't think either
women, I don't think either of those women
are struggling to find love or happiness.
Oh, I don't doubt.
Jokes on you, buddy.
Jokes. Anytime men say shit
like that, I always write, like, do you have a girlfriend?
And then they're like, we're not talking
about me. That's what I thought.
That's what I thought. I bet I know why
in case you're curious.
Damn. Case you need advice at all. I bet I know
why. This next
one says, so they only make home
music with a question mark. But what's wrong
with home music? Is that a genuine question?
that's funny. I like home music.
You and me both.
Mm-hmm. I really,
I really, really like a really,
really outrageous whole song.
Me too, bitch.
Me too. I am such a big fan.
Yeah, me too. It's fun.
Yeah, I like to live in that, you know,
fantasy.
Cuss me into character.
That's what I'm saying. Yeah. That's like all you can listen to.
Before you're going to go out, like,
whole music, for sure. That's what I mean.
That's, like, strictly what you play.
But that's why sometimes I think like when you bring up like specific rappers, like sometimes people try to compare rappers.
Like for example, like someone like sexy red.
Love her music.
Yeah.
Amazing.
So fucking awesome.
So fun.
So amazing.
And then they'll like be like, she's fucking trash.
Like it's nothing like J.
Cole.
Of course it's not, bitch.
Those are two different kinds of rapping.
Yeah.
Of course it's not.
Like she's not trying to save the world.
she's trying to shake ass like the goals have been met on both sides that doesn't make her worse than him
yeah different different audience like what you said people who want to shake their ass need representation
too that's what i'm saying when she said come suck a bitch toes hilarious that is so funny
that is and i bet you what i wanted to hear on the song i didn't even know it's what i've been
waiting to hear i just think it also back to like cardi b and and magda stallion like it's
It's the same kind of thing where it's like their, their kind of rapping is very specific
and it's for a very specific audience.
And that audience is fucking huge because they are both so fucking successful.
But I just think to pigeonhole them as like, oh, they only make hoe music.
I'm like, see, that's just you being a misogynist.
Slut shaming.
Yeah.
So what?
That's what I say.
And what of it?
And what?
Also, like, you don't like hose?
That's what I'm saying.
Like everyone loves hoes.
I do.
I do.
I do.
As a hoe myself, I love, I can't go against my own kind.
That's my girls.
That's my, my team.
And I think men who say shit like that too have no hoes, and that's probably why.
See, they're jealous.
They're so jealous.
So upset.
I feel like the attitude, a lot of times too, like, and I've talked about it too with other, like,
rappers and stuff on my podcast.
But I feel like a lot of times, too, it's attached to this, like, very puritanical belief
that women are supposed to, like, keep to soon.
If you really got to unpack, then, yeah.
That's what I mean.
But I mean, like, when women exert agency and autonomy and they're like, I feel good,
I feel sexy, I want to talk about it, then men all of a sudden are like, wait a second,
only I'm allowed to do that to you against your will.
Totally.
You're not allowed to do it.
It's the consent part that they don't like.
Mm-hmm.
because women are consenting to being...
It's a power dynamic.
Yeah.
It's a power thing.
It's the same reason they hate sex workers for the same reasons.
They're like, well, see, I like doing it when it's against your will, but not that you're doing it, it's kind of takes the fun out of it for me.
Yikes.
And that's why they see someone like Cardi B and Magdalian.
They're like, ew.
And they watch...
You know, I'll go home and watch, like, so much porn and like...
They're just so...
Such hypocrites.
I bet you watched the video a few times.
So hypocritical.
Watch the whole thing through
Just to be like, yep, just as I thought
Hors. Just as I thought
Hore. And it's like
But not yours though, huh?
Hoop. Hore for everyone except you?
Uh-oh.
Damn.
I bet that hurts.
I bet that hurts.
When you said you've gotten a lot of hate comments
over the years,
do you find that it's worse
when you were like
starting to exert more autonomy
when you're starting to put out more like
sexy music, like rules?
I mean,
or is it just kind of
consistent all throughout?
It's pretty consistent.
It's pretty consistent.
There's ups and downs.
Yeah.
There's ups and downs.
It's usually when you're like up
that it gets the worst
because people want to tear you down.
Of course.
They want to bring you down a pick.
And then anytime I'm like overtly
sexy, like I wore this outfit to the VMAs,
like that outrage.
Really?
But like it was funny because it was
Like it's like clockwork like it's so obvious.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
It's like too easy.
It's just too easy.
Like people are just like oh my eyes.
Like people are just so dramatic and it's just it's kind of funny.
Is it literally, was it literally just they thought it was too much?
Yeah.
And then yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I forgot we were in old times.
Yeah.
You know, where you had to wear a bonnet.
Just the VMAs.
And three skirts.
If you dressed like a pilgrim to the VMAs, do you think they'd care?
They eat you up for a different reason.
They'd probably eat me up too.
They're like, show a little skin.
Not that much skin.
I don't know.
I wonder what the reaction would be if I'd dress like, you know.
A pilgrim?
Just like a nun.
Yeah.
They'd think I was like making fun.
They'd think it's a costume of some kind.
Yeah.
You should wear that like you, but you just like one of the ones of like the men who have like the big buckles on their hats.
Just like that.
Like colonial times.
You know what I mean?
Like George Washington for.
You know what I mean?
Like you just dress like.
like that. And then they'd be like, see, now that's a respectable woman. I'm having kind of a hard time
picturing this hat. Like, you know that big ass hat? Those big like, it's like like a Quaker
oats. Yes, yes. Exactly. Quaker core. Oatmeal core. You wear that and you're like, well,
everyone said I was too revealing in the last time and I. Maybe next year. Yeah, maybe next year.
I'll just get up on them. As a woman in the 1800s, I do want to be married, um, at 15. So that's why I
made sure to come modest and respectable. Right. Like a good wife should.
not show my wrists or ankles.
Men who never see breasts in real life
get really mad when they see them in the wild.
Oh my gosh. So mad. So mad. So mad.
It's just, I don't know what it, it's really funny to me.
It's really interesting. I don't know why it makes people
angry.
Yeah, me either. I, I guess I've just never been that unemployed.
Yeah.
I guess I can't relate to that. I've never been that down bad personally.
I've, you know.
Just in general, people caring that much about what?
other people do, period, is such an interesting phenomenon.
Like, imagine just going on some stranger's page.
Some of you don't know you've never met and just, like, commenting hate because
you don't like what, like, they look like or something?
Like, that's just so, that's such loser behavior.
No, truly, literally it is.
It's very weird.
I had someone once where I hate on one of my, it was so random.
It was on fucking threads.
Who's hating on there?
Like, of course I would get that on threads.
It's like a brand new app.
But then some people started like jump in them in the comments because like they're like friends fans fans of mine or whatever
And then that person was literally like I don't even care like I was just I was just having fun
That's fun
That's what I'm saying that's very that's very
Embarrassing
Yeah it's unemployed like girl like very weird
I'm so like when I first started growing um
If I had a friend I knew they were leaving hate comments on people's post I'd be like
You know so
No, seriously.
You're a fucking weirdo.
Weird.
You're a weirdo.
For real, you're a weirdo.
I told someone recently, I was like, talking about, because obviously, like, I terrorized
awful men for a living, so, like, they're always at my doorstep, calling for my head
on a spike.
But they, sometimes I'll get hate from men, and it's very, very rare, but they'll have a
girlfriend, right?
So I, one time I went on her page and she followed me.
And then I went on his page, and I said, yeah, I said, did you know that your girlfriend
follows me?
She doesn't even follow you.
That's crazy because I went and looked.
And then he was like, I'm not going to lie, you kind of got me.
And he deleted his comments, which is funny.
But sometimes now, if I see hate, I just screenshot it and then I send it to the girlfriend.
Like, I'll go on her page.
I'll DM her.
And I know that bitch goes in there because it has verified.
So it just goes right to the top.
And then I tell them, just, you know, I told your girlfriend that he likes to talk shit on women for fun in your free time.
Just study curiosity.
It's worked many times.
Some women haven't responded to me.
Some women have.
and they've been like, oh my God, I'm so embarrassed,
and then they've, like, broken up with them.
Hilarious.
Hilarious.
If you want to be funny, I can be really fucking funny.
Listen.
Listen, don't be leaving hate comments.
That's embarrassing.
Well, and I tell them, too.
I'm like, I don't know about you,
but if I found out my boyfriend was doing shit like this,
I would want to be with someone like that.
That's humiliating.
It's humiliating.
You're, like, so bad for the brand.
Not in public, in public, too, like,
where everyone could see?
Like, that's so gross and weird.
Also, in private.
Also in private.
On both, on all of it, honestly.
But I'll always message your girlfriend.
So if you by chance have one, make sure I can't find her.
Because I will.
Nice.
And I'll ruin a relationship just like I have.
I think it's also, it's crazy to me when people want to comment on carpet looks, especially.
But like, that's kind of the point, to be fair.
That is the point to be criticized.
No.
No, when I say, like, criticize, I mean like, they have something specific to say about your body or it's too revealing or
it's too modest or that's what I mean.
Not like fashion-wise.
I mean like judgmental-wise in a way that's like not helpful or constructive.
It's just like you look fucking ugly or your tits are up too high.
It's like, okay, well.
Sure.
Yeah.
When you walk a carpet, let me know what you wear.
Yeah?
Let me know.
Thank you so much.
I appreciate it.
And I think too, sometimes when you post your looks, like if you feel good in it,
that's all that fucking matters.
Yeah.
Like, again, I chose to wear it.
So clearly.
Big fan.
Yeah.
And sometimes you look so good, you don't want to wear anything.
And I'm cool with that, too.
Yeah, it was fun.
It was fun.
It was literally fun.
What was the craziest thing?
What's the craziest thing you've ever seen about yourself online?
Oh, gosh.
I don't even know.
Whether it has to do with music or not, something random.
I don't even.
I've seen such crazy things that I can't even, like, keep it on some type of, like,
spectrum in my head.
Yeah, you probably have to erase it all the time.
Yeah, I've seen, like, creep.
things, weird things. Yeah.
I don't know. It's getting dark.
One time someone said that I, they thought I was like an international spy.
Like I was implanted from a foreign government to infiltrate TikTok and make everybody woke.
That's a good one.
Yeah. I like that. I have some Illuminati stuff. People have said that. I like, I do like, I do like those.
Like those are kind of funny to me also. Honestly, the only people in the Illuminati are fucking awesome.
funny to me. So if that's a club. There was someone, there was someone recently actually who was leaving
comments every single day on like every post I would post and like something Illuminati related.
Like he's like I know your part of it. They would definitely like had like alerts on for my photos
that they could be like no like no just saying that I was in the Illuminati. Yeah they're like I know that.
Yeah they were like this is they did find something she's wearing red.
Okay well.
Yeah.
It's the blood.
Like, I don't know.
It's weird.
It's so funny.
I didn't know that.
They're like, ooh, period.
It's just funny because it's just so, like, silly.
I know I've seen one time when I was in high school.
One of my friends showed me, like, you know, like, Beyonce and Jay Z are, like, apparently
ahead of the Illuminati.
She showed me one about Beyonce, and she was, like, showing me one of those, like, all the signs that they're in the Illuminati.
It's, like, one of those YouTube videos.
But I had an Aluminati.
Menati phase too.
Yeah.
But I was like 12.
That's what I mean.
I was like, I think I was like 13, 14.
Yeah, I was like watching the video.
I was like, oh my gosh.
The signs are there.
It makes sense.
It all connects.
The signs are there.
And then like over the years I was like,
well, now that you're in the industry.
I don't know if this is really.
For real z's or not.
For real zies.
Well, when I watched it, I was like, I mean,
that's cool, but I'm still going to listen to the music.
So, devil be damned, you know what I mean?
Damn.
I guess he's in good company then, because he's got great taste.
If he likes fiancé, he's got a great taste.
I'm down.
I'm into it.
Exactly.
I think the, also, you being associated with the Illuminati is cool because everyone who's in there is awesome.
Yeah.
It's like a good co-sign.
I think so.
If you're going to be co-signed by like any, you know, a group.
Only big people, only huge, successful, amazing other artists like yourself are.
kind of why I think it's funny because I'm like you guys think you that's such an honor to you to think that like I'm into Luminati wow yeah mine was just fucking I'm making people woke that's so boring no that no international spy though international spy yeah that's I'm like on some like Benedict Arnold shit you know what that's cool crossed enemy lines now I'm here and they're like which country was trying to make China China's trying to make us yeah clearly I look very much so like I'm from China so yeah he said that about
me and he was like, it was like
this one guy. Well, actually there's multiple people
doing it and I was, he's like,
why did you go to China in 2016?
And I was like, I've never
left the country other than to Mexico.
I've been to China. You have? Is it fun?
Yeah, it's cool. It's cool.
The shows were crazy. Maybe he's talking about you then.
I'll just point him in your direction.
It's actually Tienache. That's so funny.
I was like, they're like, why were you in China? I was like, I didn't even
have a passport in the year that he used.
I was like, I didn't even have a passport.
where it was 18 years old.
That's crazy.
But, you know.
I like that, though.
That's a good rumor.
You're Illuminati.
I'm an international spy.
It all works out.
That's the only way that we could ever succeed.
Obviously.
That's my true T on the Illuminati.
I'm like, why is this always associated?
There's men in there too, but a lot of times it's women.
And it's always like, well, how else do you explain her success?
Well, probably a multitude of reasons that are much more realistic and logical, like, talent.
but I don't know
I don't know
Some of those YouTube videos are convinced
Yeah the graphics and everything
Yeah they have the music
Yeah like a red circle in the very back
Yeah
They show you like the dollar bill and stuff
You know it gets deep
I know they have all these signs
I guess I need to wake up a little bit
Eye on the pyramid
Okay so to wrap up
Well first off
What's your favorite song off the new album
Ooh
Um
Today it is uh-huh.
Ooh, I love. Why?
I don't know. It just hits. It's simple and it just hits. It just feels like my mood.
Yeah. And sometimes you just want something that just like hits, you know?
Yeah, I like that one.
I absolutely know. Totally it can relate to that.
What would you say is the best song to play if you're getting ready to go out?
Night out on the town.
Needs.
Period.
You heard that host.
That's the hoes.

Okay, last question.
What is your best piece of advice for people who want to break into the music industry
or people who maybe aren't seeing as much success as they, you know, wish they could?
Like they're still trying to create and everything.
But with a new landscape, things have shifted a lot.
So what would you say is your best piece of advice?
My best piece of advice is to basically get real DIY and, you know, there's a lot of, whether it's apps or things at your fingertips that allow you to be able to make art or make content or do whatever you can.
And I think don't wait for someone to do it for you.
Don't wait for like the opportunity to fall out of the sky.
You can teach yourself how to produce.
You can make your own videos.
I started making my own music videos, editing them myself on Final Cut, like producing my own.
music. That's cool. I love that. Yeah, mixing my own music. Like, it's really important to be able to
have those skills that you're not handicapped. And I think, you know, you can find tutorials
and ways to learn how to use the apps and then just get your hands in them and...
Cool, Ms. Producer. I love that. Yeah, just like, don't, just go for it. That's so awesome.
Yeah. That's so fucking cool. And you're so right. It's like the landscape has shifted in many
ways, but also the ability to like create, like even without having to be signed or anything like
that. Yeah, like your access, you can now record music without having to be in a major studio and
make it sound really good with the technology that's available. You can produce. There's free apps
online. You know, there's like so many cool ways that you can get yourself out there. So don't let any
of the like old school ways of thinking. Yeah. Hold you back. That's cool. That's tea. And like,
sometimes you have to create the opportunity and then then you get the opportunity. Absolutely.
I think that's sick. That's so awesome. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you.
