Starting point is 00:00:00 This episode is brought to you by Two Good and Co coffee creamers. How do you take your coffee? Piping hot, iced, strong, brothy? If you love rich, creamy goodness and delicious flavor in every sip, try Two Good and Co creamers. They're made with farm fresh cream, real milk, and contain three grams of sugar per serving. That's 40% less than the five grams per serving in leading traditional coffee creamers. Two Good Creamers are available in sweet cream, roasted vanilla, and lavender. So which one are you trying first?
Starting point is 00:00:27 Find two good creamers at your local retailer in the creamer aisle. Kayak gets my flight, hotel, and rental car right. So I can tune out travel advice that's just plain wrong. Bro, Skycoin, way better than points. Never fly during a Scorpio full moon. Just tell the manager you'll sue. Instant room upgrade. Stop taking bad travel advice.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Start comparing hundreds of sites with kayak and get your trip right. Bad advice? You talking to me? Got that right. Something about Paul Hollywood. Oh, girl. That man. You know, something about him saying that your sponge can not have a soggy bottom.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Right. That really makes my sponge want to have a song. Gives me a soggy bottom immediately. How's not? Instant sog. Everyone and welcome back to another episode of the Common Section show starring me, your favorite. Everybody knows me who cares about me. On to the guest today.
Starting point is 00:01:32 We have the iconic, the legendary, the hilarious Max Belegday. I like those adjectives. Oh my gosh, you're so welcome. Thank you very much. Straight from across the pond. I think you're my second Brit. Really? Who was the first? Yeah, my first one was Ayame.
Starting point is 00:01:48 Oh yeah. Oh my god. I love Ayame. Yeah, I love her. She's so funny. Yeah, she's insane. She puts me on edge. She's insane.
Starting point is 00:01:56 She literally terrifies me every time I'm with her. It's brilliant. Yeah. Yama and I, like, we keyed a lot about British food, which I'm sure we'll get into. Oh, Christ. I saw some clips. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:06 And I feel like I've come in with a heavy burden to carry to defend an entire nation of people that have terrible taste. Right. But I'm going to try. I do have a lot of compliments up here though too. As much as the Brits maybe don't think I'm that nice to them about the food. I do have a lot. But before we get into that, how are you feeling?
Starting point is 00:02:26 How are you doing? I'm good. I'm so happy to have you. It's always so lovely. Every time I come to L.A., I meet so many cool people and then I leave immediately after. And that's how you do it. That's how it should be.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Yeah. So I've come out for like a good week, 10 day trip. And it really is strange. Like you're from this area. So I guess it's more normal to you. But like going to the, I went to the grove yesterday. Megan Traynor spotted me whilst filming a music video and then asked me to be in it.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And I'm there like greasy face with like shopping bags like clapping along. I saw her at the. And I'm like, what is this place? Is this place even real? Like I love her. I, I, I, too have been in a Megan Trainer music video. Yes, you have. I love her. Oh my God. She's the sweetest, like the nicest person ever. She's so lovely. What are the odds you were just strolling around?
Starting point is 00:03:18 And she was like, I thought she was a Disney princess. Yeah, she is. I said to my boyfriend, I was like, oh, there's a Disney princess singing on the side of that bus. And then we got closer and I was like, I think that's Megan Train. Is that M Train? On the train. I was like, what the fuck is going on? And then she points at me and she goes, Max, she's like, stay there. And I was like, what the fuck? And then this woman comes over, she's like, I'm her mom. I'm like, I'm confused. I love her mom.
Starting point is 00:03:46 Oh, her mom is the sweetest. You might have a mom. She might be the bomb. Yeah, to meet the mom that that song is about, I was like, go on then. Miss, Mrs. Train. Misses train. Mental. So if you see this greasy face clapping along to a song that I don't know the words to. Say be nice to me because I didn't know.
Starting point is 00:04:04 Please. Please. know I was going to be on camera. Yeah. Also to be in a music video for a song that you've never heard. And at a point, she'd just be like, just like, clap along, sing along. And I was like, I don't know what. What?
Starting point is 00:04:17 What? So I'm just like, hey. So, yeah, yeah, sorry. She's very chronically online. She is. I'm not surprised that she was a big fan of you too. She knew, like, she even pointed out my boyfriend. She got him in it.
Starting point is 00:04:29 He's like probably devastated by that, but brilliant time. No, what a lovely woman. I know, love her. Wow, the experience of a lifetime. You were just telling me, too, you went to Vegas also. Was it your first time going to Vegas? I've been to Vegas once before. But not properly like that.
Starting point is 00:04:44 I went to BravoConn. So that was like, that was like really seeing a mixture of the gayest people in the world and Trump's America. I feel like that is the Bravo fan base. That's where they go to meet. Honestly. Yeah. Yeah. Like that is the, what's it called them semi-circle like a vent diagram?
Starting point is 00:05:00 There we go. That's the word they meet in the middle. That's so true. So that was like an experience with. in itself, but we didn't do the whole, like, right, hardcore party. Right. This time,
Starting point is 00:05:10 fuck me, Drew. Fuck me. It's, I walked in and I was like, this is Disneyland. This is brilliant. Yeah. Oh, my God. You really get swept up in the energy. You're like, oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:05:21 I could do anything. I was just like, wow. First night, I bet $100. Okay. And I won $250. I was like, this is a cheat code. Why don't, why doesn't everyone do this? I love gambling.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Oh my God. Honestly, the rush it game. I was like, guys, honestly, if you've never tried gambling, I don't see any downside to it. As of right now, nothing bad. Yeah. So I'm loving life. We go out. I have the best time next night.
Starting point is 00:05:46 We've got a big night club booked. I'm like, oh my gosh, this gambling thing is amazing. So before I go out, I'm just going to bet all the money that I won last night, all in one, put it on red. I kept winning last night. Like, clearly red's my favor. Lost. Fuming. Devastated.
Starting point is 00:06:02 Night ruined. Vegas canceled. Instant mood drop. So then we go out, get back to the hotel at the end, and I've been thinking about it all night. This is why I'm now not allowed to gamble ever again, because it wouldn't leave my brain the entire night. So I was like, well, what if I just went back? And I put some more on rent. That does tend to happen.
Starting point is 00:06:18 And then that won. So what if I won that money back that I lost? So then we get there, we go to the ATM. There's a guy in front. And this is when I really saw that Vegas has a dark side to it. Right. Because he goes like, if you let me cut in front of you in line, then I'll give you all $100. So me being the cheap bitch that I am, I'm like, fucking too right, 100 quid.
Starting point is 00:06:35 are you joking that's sick so he jumps in front this guy's out of his mind he gets five grand out of the thing and then he proceeds to start talking to us saying he earns like a million dollars a week doing whatever job he looked does he looked fucking mental brought us to this table he spent $40,000 lost it all lost it all in front of us 40 grand just kept putting it down putting it down it's going buy these guys a drink I'm there like sipping a green tea since it's the end of the night like shit like I'm afraid I was like can I have that hundred dollars that like Vegas freaks me by the way you oh I know it's a bad time we I know you down 40 grand but uh about that hundred plus about 300 so oh honestly yeah
Starting point is 00:07:16 Vegas it terrified me I feel emotionally and physically mentally scarred yeah it takes a lot more than it gives sometimes oh she's a and since I've gotten older like Vegas is even more of a cautionary tale to me so it's very like I have to tread carefully and like I told you I have to get in get out yeah like easy quick money have to go in have a little bit of fun not too much fun get out makes so much sense and i always thought like why does everyone look so afraid like like in the streets in Vegas yeah now i understand it's just like what you said about bravo con it's like people having the best night of their life and people losing everything they've ever owned it's just the only people there is the story of the real housewives that's the only crossover there is the biggest character arc that you can have
Starting point is 00:08:01 in a typical season of the real housewives right exactly I do want to talk about how I found you though on TikTok originally because well one of the first I remember one of the first videos I remember watching you is when you said you got really drunk at Disney World I think in Florida and you're like I don't even remember buying half this stuff but you're like going through you're doing a hall yeah it was but you're hung over doing a hall so why would I buy this oh my god it's a trap guys it's a Ponzi scheme all right is Disneyland and the fact that it so it was actually Disneyland Paris that I went to Oh, too. Quick hop, skip and a jump away from London. Get on the train. You arrive in the park.
Starting point is 00:08:37 It's mental. Right. Don't know how there's a train that goes from the UK to another country, by the way. I know, I agree. I have to discover that. I wouldn't know anything about that because we don't have shit like that over here. That makes sense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:47 So I arrive in Disneyland. I'm like, oh my God, this is all I've ever wanted. I'm like, I think I'm like 20 years old. I've now got adult money. I'm like, oh, I'm paying for a trip. Go with my best friend. We'd always spoke about going when we're in high school together. We met in science together.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Sweet. And we're like, oh, one day we'll go to Disneyland. We're finally doing it. Booked the trip relatively cheap. Got an Airbnb, cheap flights, cheap tickets, whatever. First day, the downfall of Disneyland Paris is that there's this like ratatooie land. Right. So we were in this fancy restaurant and we thought, why don't we get a bottle of wine?
Starting point is 00:09:20 Why don't we just get a bottle of wine? So I'm giving it, we, we, bea, beauje, au, au revoir, au reintet. You're getting real friends. Yeah. Remi's working his way from my heart down to my pants. He's talking through me. Oh, 100%. He's having these dirty little way with me is Remi, honestly.
Starting point is 00:09:37 And I'm just pouring these drinks, pouring them to the point where it gets to the fireworks. Now, this is where the Ponzi scheme comes into play. Because how are you going to tell me that I'm allowed, probably two bottles of wine? Then you're going to show me a magical display of fireworks mixed with Elsa singing, let it go in French, first of all. Tears in my eyes, credit card out. 100%. Then upon my exit, I walked through the most glorious store you've ever seen. And I spent more that one night in that store than I did on the entire trip.
Starting point is 00:10:13 I spent, like, it was a disgrace. And I woke up the next morning and I was in a sea of teddies, of pins. I became a pin collector. Overnight? What the fuck was that all about? Do you know how much wasteful metal is in my house? Like, decorative metal. Literally.
Starting point is 00:10:34 I ain't getting shit for that. Fuming is not even the word. So then I posted that video. And you seem so annoyed in it. Raging. Why the fuck would I buy? Raging, Drew. Honestly, like, I post it.
Starting point is 00:10:47 At that point, I was probably on like, I want to say like 900K on TikTok. Post the video. Go to go to the parks in the morning. Check my phone again at lunch. It's on like 20 million views. I've gained like 600,000 followers or something off the back of it. I'm like, what the fuck? Then for the rest of the day on that trip, people are coming up to me.
Starting point is 00:11:08 You're the guy who did this last night. I'm like, oh, yeah. You're the guy that Remy had his way with, I'm saying. That's you. We're going to need that wrap back. Where is he? Why is his jaw broken up? You're walking funny the next day.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Oh my God. just like for literally like years later people still come up to me in the street and they're like where are your pins i'm like don't bring up my trauma don't do it don't okay don't not now but yeah it's such a funny thing to be known for like as you know with ticot one thing can blow up and then even if you do like other things after it people remember that one thing yeah girl and i just think that's such a funny thing to be known as it is it is spending way too much money on remi the rat it's great it's great well i'd love to know when you were in school and stuff, like, what did you want to do?
Starting point is 00:12:00 I'm so curious. Oh, my God. Because you have such a host personality energy. And I didn't. Or were you a theater kid? I was not a theater kid. I was not, I was just, I was just a dickhead. Really?
Starting point is 00:12:12 Yeah. Like I was, I was such a goody, like two shoes in primary school, which is our middle, like middle first school, whatever you call it. Um, and I was, I was like so well behaved, top of my class and everything. And then I made best friends with a girl who had read, her an older boyfriend and terrible fake tan and she ruined my life um she's a brilliant woman and she led me astray she opened your third eye 100% and then i started to get invited to like parties where we'd be underage drinking and i was like oh this is so like cool this is what life's all
Starting point is 00:12:46 about um and then i just became a bit of a dickhead and then it was like when i was like 14 15 i realized I'm from a shit little town. If I keep being a dickered, then I'm not going to really get anywhere. So I kind of binned off all those people really put my heart into getting out of that town. And around that time was when I started to gain a lot of confidence in myself.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Love. And I think that's what I attribute like the weird, I look back on my life and there were so many weird moments that I learned skills that are applicable to my job now. I love that. That I don't think would have ever been applicable to any other job. Yeah, I find that so interesting because I was, I feel like you have a very fun personality, a very hosting personality.
Starting point is 00:13:29 So I was curious if you ever wanted to do. What did you want to do? I wanted to work in marketing. Okay. I mean, technically you're doing that now. Yeah. Yeah. I originally went to school, to university, like college, to do film.
Starting point is 00:13:43 And then I got there, realized that I was shit. And I thought, what's any respectable person that tried to pursue a career in the arts going to do? Get a marketing degree. So then dropped out of that unit, went to Newcastle Uni, if you heard of Newcastle. Yeah, I have heard of the place. Oh my God, the Jordy Shore, why I did. Yes, I do know Jordy Shore. That was literally my uni experience, like being with those people.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Chaos, love it. And then I really started to get into digital marketing, social media side of it. When I actually started to do TikTok, I was an intern in London working a 9 to 5 where they started to put me in charge of like TikTok campaigns because they were starting to understand what it was yeah this was like 2020 and then literally the week that my internship ended i hit was was when i went to that Disneyland oh hit over a million followers got um uh loads of like work off the back of it and then that became my full-time job so it was a really weird like thing like i always wanted to work in social media somehow and like video but i just didn't quite think that i would be the forefront of that okay period yeah because you're special oh my god that
Starting point is 00:14:53 And I've still got that rat in my pals. And it's all thanks to the rat. Shouts out to the rat. Love that. I do also want to talk about the Survivor show that you were on. Oh, my fucking God. I loved. I was watching your updates, like, that your boyfriend was posting and your friends were posting.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Drew. So I find it crazy. In America, you have Survivor. We in the UK have our own version that's called I'm a celebrity, get me out of here. Right. And that is like, you would not expect, I don't know why it's never been a thing that's taken off in because it's literally like our biggest television show. Like people love to watch someone that they've seen,
Starting point is 00:15:29 like hosts the news for years, get like cockroaches thrown at them. So when the offer came in, I was like, oh my God. And I got asked to do the Australian version of the show that Robert Irwin hosts. He was doing dancing with the stars. Love. So I was like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:15:44 Like the Australian version of the show, Robert, okay, interesting. So like we did some digging into it. And all I kept thinking was, I'm going to be so bad. at this yeah i'm not going to be able to do anything that they asked me to do like why have they asked me to do this and they thought oh my god they want me to be that pathetic person that shit at everything and everyone's going to laugh at so i was so in my head me when i get there honestly honestly like i was so worked up about going into it that i made myself sick upon entry um i shit my i
Starting point is 00:16:13 shit the bed the night before literally shit the bed because i got so worked up and anxious that i was vomiting sick then at first day i jumped off a cliff you just leave your pants i shit my I shit the bed. And then I, that morning, after shit in the bed the night before, had to get up, enter the camp, jump off a cliff, fainted at the top of the cliff. I was an anxious mess throughout the entire experience. But I learned so much throughout it. And it was one of those weird things where I came out and people were going to be like,
Starting point is 00:16:43 you're a hero. Own it all. Pay off your home, travel for life, drive a Ferrari. In celebration of the world premiere of the Monopoly, Big Board Buckslot Machete by Aristocrat Gaming, Yamava. resort and casino at San Manuel is giving one person a $1.6 million dream package. The biggest prize in Yamaba's history. Club Serrano members can earn daily instant prizes and secure a spot in the finale May 29th.
Starting point is 00:17:03 Don't pass go and own it all. Only at Yamava, celebrating its 40th anniversary. You win? Details at Yamava.com must be 21-20. Please gamble responsibly. Monopoly is a trademark of Hasbro. Hasbro is not a sponsor of this promotion. You are a hero?
Starting point is 00:17:16 Oh my God. And I was like, what the fuck are you talking about? But I had so little knowledge of how TV shows. like that were right yeah that I was just being completely myself from start to finish and I didn't realize that like say on a given day if I was petrified I get I get told that the public have voted to put me to do a challenge where I have to like jump off a cliff and reach for a star or whatever yeah yeah yeah and then all morning I'm like oh my god the public must hate me oh my god I'm a mess like I'm so anxious I'm going to be terrible and you can't see or hear anything you have no idea
Starting point is 00:17:48 about anything that's happening yeah or what people are saying at all they got you get like 600 calories day okay a day because it's all about like really stripping everything about everything that you eat is like in its purest form you just get oil and vegetables and meat that's all that you eat 600 calories a day that's if you don't win in the challenges to earn more calories but that's the baseline of what they can give you yeah I would waste it on one piece of red oh I'd be like oh yeah yeah genuinely got to wait till tomorrow genuinely it was so difficult but I learned so much about how shows like that work how about myself like getting the opportunity to be so far away from everything yeah and realize that all of the things that we put so much importance on in this job
Starting point is 00:18:32 that we are especially in right yeah and realize how fucking stupid it all is and that like how not serious any of it is it's so like unimportant 100% all I cared about was like my grandma and like my boyfriend and my family and my friends and when I came out I made such an effort damn they made you Buddhist. Oh they said 600 Kelly Day girl and I'm grateful for the earth and I'm grateful for this love 100% I was like oh my eat me eat pray love like well not eat pray love girl I need to give away all my earthly yeah yeah oh the way I left that like I'm giving all my money to charity a weekend I'm like fuck that unfortunately I do have bills today so I did come out of it like like mine no but I like spend way more time with my family now I take them on trips and stuff
Starting point is 00:19:16 which I didn't do before because it always felt like such a hassle to get everyone's calendars line and then something would pop up for me and I would find it so hard to take time away from work. But now I'm like, no, prioritize what's important in life. That's nice. So and Robert Irwin is the nicest person. I don't know how much Americans know about Robert early. I know he's on Dancing with the Stars now. Right. Yeah. That's like a big intro to him. Yeah. He is the nicest man. I've heard he's really nice. Oh my God. Like he's not even like I would be like, well, I mean, yeah, I shit myself several times throughout that show. Um, I, there was a, There was a day where I had to eat a boar's nipple that was dipped in a thousand-year-old egg.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Right. The entire nipple. Delicious. Black, like that thick, thick, leathery, hairy. Mate, that's where I draw the line. You lost me, honestly. You lost me there. This was not in my contract.
Starting point is 00:20:12 And so I had to eat that. And I was vomiting so much, obviously. And in those trials, if you vomited up, you lose the star. So I had to swallow my own vomit a lot. So I'm crying whilst this is happening. Robert Irwin is being, he's just like, you're doing a miser mind. You're smashing it. Look at you.
Starting point is 00:20:27 And then afterwards he'd like come to the van when the cameras were down. And he'd be like, honestly, like your family's going to be so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. My mom's watching. So much Robert Irwin. It means the world. I was like, thank you, Robert. But I've also got like, Boers nipple in my stomach right now.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Also, why don't you go munch on that? Yeah. If your family's proud of you. How's that? But oh, such a lovely man. And his life is. just like remarkable. I agree. Yeah. He's he's so te. I think he's awesome. He's crazy. And I'm so happy that you had such a negative slash positive experience. It was such a positive
Starting point is 00:21:02 experience. Like I look back on it and you get tested in ways that you only just come out and you feel like you've experienced a triumph. So yeah, but fuck me. You're honestly so much you're so much braver than me. Stuff like that would like really put me off. Honestly. This episode is brought to you by Hulu. There's an all new season of. of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives returning to Hulu, November 13th. Mom Talk might have started as a sisterhood, but these Latter-day Saints are no angels. This season, there are new secrets, lies, and truths coming out,
Starting point is 00:21:35 and you won't wanna miss all the drama. Watch the new season of the Hulu Original the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives on November 13th. Streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney Plus for bundle subscribers. Terms apply. think I've talked about this before. I'm sure I have.
Starting point is 00:21:52 But right when I blew up on TikTok, like around the time, like, I had just gotten signed, I was being going through the process of potentially being on the circle. Oh, like, and so like, really? When Netflix bought it? Yeah, that was 2020. Yeah. Like 2020. Actually, mine was 2021, I think.
Starting point is 00:22:11 But I think mine might have been 20, yeah. It was when Netflix first started working with it. Yeah, they had one season out. And I was, I think I was doing the second one, I believe. Right. Okay. I think I was the first one. Okay.
Starting point is 00:22:21 And then I remember thinking like, oh God, I'm glad that I didn't do that because it looked quite stressful. No, same. I was like, I think that's how they found me too. It's like I started blowing up on TikTok and then they slid in my DMs and I was like going through the audition process. Yeah. And I was like going to be my, my man, like my fiance.
Starting point is 00:22:38 So I was going to play as him and I was like, yeah, like I know a lot about sports. I feel like I generally know how men talk. Like I could easily convince people that I'm him. And I went through so many rounds of. it and I remember at the very end they were telling me I obviously wouldn't have my phone for like however long I was on the show and then I had to go to the UK and like live there for like six to eight weeks. I said girl they lost me at the phone I said no phone. Hmm. I have to think about this. But honestly the last thing which is why I didn't get it was the psych eval. Like loki failed it. I think I was like because she had to just asking me questions like you know do you deal with this you deal with that and I was like sometimes. And then I started thinking, maybe I should start lying. And the last question I remember she asked me was,
Starting point is 00:23:25 what's your biggest fear about being on this show? And then I said, probably being perceived as someone that I'm not, like, being painted to be someone else. And then I, like, actually was like, okay, thanks for your time. And then we hung up. And then after I, I, I almost immediately knew I was like, they're not fucking me. Really?
Starting point is 00:23:40 They're not fucking with me. No, no, no, no. Well, I had to fill out one of the, it's like a 500 question questionnaire. Shit. And they really do it very cleverly because after, while doing a questionnaire that has 500 questions in it you're kind of just like yeah take whatever the questions will be like I wake up and I'm happy to see the sun in the morning yeah I love my friends and family I sometimes think about killing myself and
Starting point is 00:24:00 everyone around me and then you realize oh shit I just ticked absolutely 100% agree like oh my god so they do they catch you out and that is true yeah she was asking me those questions like verbally oh god so she didn't trust you to do the question no not at all that's the first warning yeah they were like yeah let's go ahead and interview you face to face. I will say though if I could pick because reality TV it's not something I I really watch ever um or participate in like survivor that's why I said you're so much braver than me because I could never we have one here called naked and afraid have you ever seen that one I think I've heard of it yeah isn't it quite new a little bit yeah I would say in like the last 10ish
Starting point is 00:24:39 years but like it's like literally you're completely nude and they just drop you off in the middle of some terrain with another person who's not your friend and they're also so naked and afraid. And then you guys just try to survive. Yeah. And you just try to survive, essentially. But you're naked. So, like, that's, like, kind of the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:24:57 I don't really know why the naked part is a huge part of it. But, like, I'm assuming it's like, does this get broadcast to the public? Or is this just one person making the show for a private audience? Just auditioning their own people. No, for real. I could never, I don't think I could ever do something like that. That being said. One of my favorite reality shows of all time and I'm being so serious.
Starting point is 00:25:15 I've loved it for years is the Great British Baking show. Oh. That is one of my. favorite shows of all time. My friend introduced me to it like when I was in college like years ago because she did a study abroad program in London.
Starting point is 00:25:29 Yeah. And she was watching it like the year of Bingate like the year it happened. Oh my God. Everyone remembers where they were. Everyone remembers where they were at Bingate. She told me you have to watch it. Like she introduced me to it.
Starting point is 00:25:45 It was so good. Something about Paul Hollywood. Oh girl. That man. you know something about him saying that your sponge cannot have a soggy bottom right that really makes my sponge want to have a soggy bottom immediately how's that instant sog I want to be in that tent so bad I feel like you're going to be on there like a celebrity version yeah they do um like a charity celebrity version and we've like pitched me for it a few times but I think that is definitely something
Starting point is 00:26:16 that I 100% wants to do in my lifetime I'd be terrible. I'm terrible at it, don't get me wrong. Me too. But I can't bake for shit. No, but I fucking love it. Someone had asked me in a Q&A I did on Instagram recently, they were like, how long do you think it would take for you to get a Hollywood handshake? And I was like, oh, I wouldn't even make it that far.
Starting point is 00:26:34 I'm going out week one easily. And that's if they don't dart me like a gorilla and drag me out for being annoying. Like I'm so dead ass. I was like, I would kill though as like one of the little fun hosts, like Noel or Allison. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. I love them down. Alison. I've worked with her.
Starting point is 00:26:50 She is genuine. So when I get the week I came out of the jungle, which is a weird sentence to say, by the way. My first job was with Alison Hammond. Oh my God. She is legitimately, because she did the jungle as well years ago. Okay.
Starting point is 00:27:04 So we were like exchanging stories on it. That woman on and off camera is just the exact same. Oh, she is so funny. And I love that she's now getting an American audience with so many people. Because she deserves the world. I know. And she is like my North Star.
Starting point is 00:27:18 in terms of a host like she is she's a perfect example to me of someone who like personality's half the job it's half the fun you know what i mean drew honestly the amount of conversations that i have like now that i like do a lot more hosting and like i know you do so many red carpets and things like that there are certain brands that you can work within that kind of realm that want you to be the personality list like yeah just don't have an opinion and ask the questions because they've obviously on them but that's not where the quality clips are i agree like it really is the alice and how much effect. I agree, because I think you're a wonderful host, too.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I've seen your hosting stuff as well. And I do think it's like, I've said before, because I do have a degree in journalism and communication. So I did learn how to host to some extent. I'm also learned on like the broadcast news. Yeah, journalism, obviously. But like I've told people I do have the actual like certifications, if you will.
Starting point is 00:28:11 But I don't think that means shit. Because some people, some journalists I know who are lifelong journalists, like they can't talk in front of a camera. And they can't talk to celebrities and they can't interview very well, but they can write very well. So it's like every, I've said before, like, having the accolades is nice, but like being able to read a room and like relate to people is way, way, way more important. One million percent. It'll take you a lot further. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:35 Yeah. It's, I think in any creative job, there's only so much that you can learn about the job. You actually need to be on the ground doing it. For real. And I look back to my first ever red carpet that I did and what I do now. and it's light and day. Yeah, same. Even me. And I could have researched about how to do X, Y, Z as much as possible,
Starting point is 00:28:54 but being on the spot, being in that moment, right. It's like, you realize when you've got a famous person right next to you, there's like cameras, it's live, whatever, that whatever comes out of your mouth determines how this next like minute, half an hour, 30 seconds goes. And that is a skill that you actually need to hone in your brain. And develop.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Yeah, I agree. And I know you know this too. I've told people before, like, you don't see it. obviously because they see it either like on the live or clipped or in a larger piece but like sometimes they'll walk up and they'll be like you have one question 20 seconds oh and then they walk away and you're like gay perfect oh are you feeling yeah are you so happy to be here yeah like you really have to get them like going almost immediately oh my god like some of these people that like represent the the you know say it's like a Netflix premiere or something it's wednesday and jennett
Starting point is 00:29:44 ortega is obviously the person that everyone wants to speak to yeah that person that person person's rep needs to be the most cutthroat person on that day because there's a million people here that mostly want to speak to Jenna Ortega. Exactly. So it can be, you have to have thick skin because you can literally get an entire interview polled seconds before. You can have someone that shows up who is very flustered. Like it's your job to in basically the first three seconds to make them feel comfortable when you only have 20 seconds. Exactly. And that is so hard to do. And I think you only get to know it, how to do it by like practice, try and whatever. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Totally. I, the first year I did the Oscars, that was like my first like big, big, big carpet, I feel like. And I remember they put me in those little, those little,
Starting point is 00:30:27 those little pig pens. They put you in like right behind. They're like, if you step outside of that, I'm going to shoot you. Oh yeah, 100%. Um,
Starting point is 00:30:33 when I was sitting next, I was standing next to a couple different huge like outlets. And I had a wrangler like someone to walk around. And they asked the person next to me. They're like, do you think you could scoot over just like a little bit? Because they were kind of standing. really close to my sign because we're squished in there.
Starting point is 00:30:49 Yeah, of course. And then the guy goes, no, I can't. And I said, oh, the girls are fighting. And I, and I really do think, like, you need to be a really good neighbor to other people and be really fucking nice because they never forget and you see the same people. Yeah, it's every single time. It's every single time.
Starting point is 00:31:06 It's the exact same people. I once did a carpet and obviously we're in London. It pisses it down constantly. Yeah. So if it is about to rain, that's a nightmare. You've got a camera. You've got everything. So I had this umbrella that was like in its sheath, I want to say.
Starting point is 00:31:21 I sheathed my umbrella. So it was not an inconvenience, wasn't in the way for anyone. We were in the fucking pig pen. Yeah. And this guy next to me, I can't remember what outlet he was with, grabbed the umbrella like in a moment of like frustration because I was at the other end of the carpet filming some things on the carpet. And I saw him be like looking for something frantically.
Starting point is 00:31:43 Grab the umbrella and just throw it over the fence. Just threw it over a fence. Just launched it. Like to where the public were. So I can no longer now get my umbrella. I walked over. I said, Did you just throw my umbrella?
Starting point is 00:31:58 I was like, what if it's probably going to rain or in the care? Did you just throw my umbrella? And he goes, no. I said, I said, I saw you. I just watched. Straight to gaslighting you immediately.
Starting point is 00:32:11 I was literally in shock. He went, no, but I was just looking. for my cards. I couldn't find my cards. So maybe it got moved somewhere. Check under there. I said, I watched you launch my umbrella. He goes, I don't know, but you should check the other side of that fence.
Starting point is 00:32:24 So I thought I heard something. Meanwhile, this woman who's been queuing up for two hours, nice new umbrella. She's like, can you believe it just now? Like, what the, I couldn't believe it. But yeah, the classic example, next time I went to a carpet, he was there. And I was really close with the person managing it.
Starting point is 00:32:43 And they were like, where'd you wanna be? And I was like, as far away from that person as possible. So they put me to the front of the line, him all the way to the back of the line. Karma. I was like, that man is the umbrella thrower. No, that guy throws umbrellas.
Starting point is 00:32:56 I don't want to be here. Sheafed umbrellas, mind you, that are not an inconvenience to anybody involved. Can you ask you, did you just throw my umbrella? No. Couldn't believe it. Couldn't believe it. It's time to refresh your yard

I have had like so many random things like that when I did Golden Globes this year. again another little but it's a shrub like they're like you have to be behind the shrub so i walked on the other side because carpet wasn't open yet and it's so fucking small back there i was like i'm gonna stand on the other side until it's time and then i'll go behind the shrub so i'm not crowding
Starting point is 00:33:58 like my crew and then the people next to me and so me and my my girl are just standing there chatting and then this lady walks up and she clearly works for globes or something and she's like i'm sorry are you media like that's what she asked me i go oh yeah i'm with i'm with install right here And she goes, okay, so you need to be behind the shrub. And I go, oh, yeah, no, I heard. I'm just waiting until everyone, like, kind of gets started. But I will for sure be behind the shrub. And she goes, right, well, carpets open.
Starting point is 00:34:28 So behind the shrub. And then I go, okay, yeah, no. I said, no, I'll go back there. And she goes, right now, behind the shrub. She said it three fucking times. And then the third time she said it, I go, so behind the shrub or? And then not one laugh. Just fucking staring.
Starting point is 00:34:44 And I go, right, I'll go fuck myself. No worries. And I went flying the shrub and I said, that bitch was gonna beat my ass. Like she literally was like, I get it like, we're all in a stressful scenario right here. My bad girl. Do you want me to stop you?
Starting point is 00:34:57 Yeah. Shit. Do you want me to punch you right now? Are you gonna be my ass? Like, what is going on? We don't have to be so hateful. We can all just have a good time. I know and I'm sure you're like me.
Starting point is 00:35:07 I love to key with my neighbors. Oh, 100%. And I love to ask questions. Yeah. Because I'm a big nosey bit. So I love to be like, so who do we love, who do we hate? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Who's the worst person you ever met?
Starting point is 00:35:19 Girl, you learn the craziest stories in that, like, pick pen. I'm going to tell you this. When I, the one premiere I've done in London was, I did that one in London. That was my first time ever going to London. It was very fun. It was fucking freezing, but it was like, I didn't want to sacrifice the fit, so I didn't wear a jacket. And I was like, ah, that's fine.
Starting point is 00:35:38 And I was saying there, huge mistake. It was fucking cold. But as I was standing there when I first went up, There were people next to me that were with the company, the larger company that I was working with. And I was like, so who do we love? Who do we hang? Like I was like asking. And I want Amanda to bleep this, but I asked about Oh yeah. So I was like, I was like, so what's his tea, huh? Like, because when I had initially got the ask, like they asked me to submit questions I did. And then they were like, this wonderful. And then they said, we only have one note for him specifically. And they wrote at the bottom, if you do talk to him,
Starting point is 00:36:13 only ask him one of these two questions. One of them was, how do you feel being here? The other one was, what are you most excited for people to see? That's it. Like, they were just like, those are the only two you're allowed to ask him if you do talk to him. And I was like chatting with this girl. And I was like, so what's the tea on that? And she goes, oh, I go like, because I've heard through the great vine that he's
Starting point is 00:36:35 misogynistic. So I didn't know if maybe like that's why they didn't want me to talk to him because of my content. Not that he would know me, but like that it might be. That someone on his team might have seen. And in my bristle, right? So which I'm like, I'm not gonna ask him crazy things on a carpet. That would just fuck up my own career. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:49 But I was asking you, do you think that's why or like, what's he there? And she goes, no, I think it's because, and she said this verbatim, she goes, I think it's because he's fucking stupid. That's, I was like, and I started laughing. And she goes, I'm so serious. Like, he's like one of the dumbest people I've ever met. And I said, oh my God, really? And she goes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:09 So like, and she tells me all this shit. She tells me, when he goes. goes on interviews or whatever, they have to give him everything ahead of time. Leah Michelle. Yeah, right. Can't read. They literally pretend they write, they write answers. He memorizes them like lines and then he sits in the chair and he waits for the lines, like to be queued. So they ask him the exact same things in order. Because he memorizes them like a script. I said, is he a robot? This is crazy because I've also worked with that person. Okay. And I was an ambassador for the company that like had made the production that he was a part
Starting point is 00:37:43 of me trying to use as many words to not reveal what it is. So in theory, I was in a country at the time on planet Earth. And perfect. Yeah. No, and he, I had to really submit the questions beforehand and I got told if you stray, even in the wording, it will just be completely cut. And the questions were literally like, how's your day? I'm so serious.
Starting point is 00:38:05 What is going on? No, she told me the same thing. She goes, no, like he hates improv. He hates deviation. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He will not answer it if it's anything remotely. I also got told that he will not talk about his like, the fact that people find him physically attractive at all.
Starting point is 00:38:20 Like that was a hard no. And I wasn't gonna walk in and be like, all right, sexy. Ha-cha-cha, baby. Get your cock out. Okay. Like, what shit off? Let's see those titties, bitch.
Starting point is 00:38:33 Let's see them. Like, what did they think I were gonna do? I thought the same thing when they were. Like, oh. Like, don't shape my hand, instant bowder. Like, what? Careful. Jesus Christ.
Starting point is 00:38:48 I know he's like, God, I'm so sick of hearing it. So sick of hearing how hot and sexy I am. I can relate. God, I'm so, no, same. The amount of times I've had to ask. That's my favorite thing to do. I love to ask. I'm like, who's the rudest person you've ever met?
Starting point is 00:39:05 I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours. I always ask people that question as well. I told this story when I was at, actually in the jungle. Okay. And I don't think that you will know who it is. So it's not even worth me telling you their name. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:18 But they're like a British, my first ever red carpet. Okay. And this is where I learned like you really have to be able to think on your toes and the worst things can happen to you in that moment, but you can't let it show. Right. Because she was just not, she's a British singer.
Starting point is 00:39:33 She was just not keen at all on any question. Like just so not fun. Any question I said, she shot me down. She was just so awful, rude. everything. Yeah, that's probably, I realized I didn't tell you really anything there, because I'm petrified. But yeah, she's horrible. Yeah, just rude and off- yeah, yeah. I get that. But I do have another funny story about a rude celebrity. Oh my God, I'm so excited. And this celebrity I actually have like, like, I think like to some
Starting point is 00:40:02 extent that I don't like. I don't remember. And it's not Glenn Powell. Please stop. I'm dressing me about Glenn Powell. It's not him. I've never met him. Anyways, this again happened at globes and I was like keying with my neighbors and one of the girls to my left I I don't want to say which what outlet she works for just in case this is bad looks but she she was like with someone that was like a pretty popular one so there were there were a lot of celebrities being brought to her and she is so nice and so friendly and so normal and she's been doing this for years and so her and I were kind of keying and it was funny because they came down the line you know sometimes reps that will come down and they're like hey do you want to talk to whatever and obviously we'll bleep this but
Starting point is 00:40:41 they're like hey do you want to talk to And it was like there was one news channel on my side and then my girl on the other side and so me and the my girl were like No, we're good like I was like no I'm okay. Thank you though and then she was she said the same thing and then the other people on my right were like yeah sure why not So they bring him and then he chats to the people to my right and then like for some reason his rep comes back this is like 10 minutes in between all of it Comes back goes yeah these two next to me and her and I was like I don't know if it was like a posturing thing. Like it was like a, oh, try saying no to his face. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:17 So I was like, not me. Like I literally went, oh, no, not me. Right? I just said that he didn't even try to stop at me. He just went straight to the girl next to me because he fucking knows better. Yeah. And he went to the girl next to me. And then she's like on her phone, like not recording.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Yeah. She's just like, you know, you do that thing where you're pretending to text. I don't want to be rude, but like get away for me. Yeah. I don't want to be rude, but get away from my shrub. Okay. I have other people. Like, they're like, this is my shrub.
Starting point is 00:41:39 Yeah. Get away from here. Like, these two inches are mine. And so she was like pretending to be on her phone. And then he's standing in front of her and he's going. Oh. Just like standing there waiting. I can so imagine him and his body language and the slimy nature of it.
Starting point is 00:41:53 And it was one of those where it's like, you can tell when a man thinks, I'm so good looking. This bitch is going to just ask me questions because she's going to be so enamored by my face. Yes. Yes. By my juvoderm filled face. So he's standing there and he's going right to her. And then she goes, oh no, I'm good. And then he goes, all right.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Okay. Like he's going like that. And yeah, no. Okay. And then it was almost like he wanted to humiliate her. So he, she said, no, I'm a, I'm a good. Thank you though. And then he literally was like, right.
Starting point is 00:42:26 Okay. It's fine. No, right. It's okay. Could have said that, but you know. And then she goes, I did say that. I told your rep I didn't want to talk to you. Oh.
Starting point is 00:42:36 I'm standing there going, Did you guys hear that? Did someone call me? No? Oh my God. Me trapped behind the shrub. I can't even leave. I'm like standing there and I was like, and then she and then he goes,
Starting point is 00:42:50 okay, yeah. She goes, no, yeah, you should ask your rep why he brought you over here. I said no. That's brilliant. She said it twice. I said no. I said no. She needs to come on the pod.
Starting point is 00:43:01 She needs to put her. And then he walked, he walked away like probably like five steps away and really his ego was bruised bad and he walked five steps away and he's literally i was like holy shit bitch when she turned toward me i go i think you're my hero dog and we started laughing and she goes well what the fuck get away from here i said no she says it again loud as well we started and then i was like man i bet he's gonna beat up his team when he gets in there and then the guy on my other side goes he is he's yelling at him right now and i looked over and he was going oh my god like you're See him like,
Starting point is 00:43:35 like, that's crazy. Well, of course, his face doesn't move. No, yeah, you know, he has to emote like this. A lot of hands.
Starting point is 00:43:43 And he, I don't think, did any more interviews who just left, went inside. And I literally, I see her on so many carpets and I told her,
Starting point is 00:43:50 I think the last time I saw was at the Emmys. And I was like, girl, can I tell you something? Anyone who will listen to me, I tell them that story. I'm like, do you want to hear the funniest story?
Starting point is 00:43:59 Such big dick energy, honestly. But there's so much power in, like, actually on a human level, Why would I put myself through that? If I don't, if I don't want to platform you, if I don't agree with who you are or how you're behaving in this moment,
Starting point is 00:44:11 actually, I don't bloody need to. I don't work for you. And it's funny because the outlet she works for is a very serious, like, film critic one. It's not fucking TMZ. Like, it's not like a random, like, oh, I'll talk to any, anyone who's famous.
Starting point is 00:44:26 Like, hers is like a very serious, like, we review films and shows and everything. So the fact that he even thought you would want to, In it? You know how sometimes I know you know because you wear carpets. Like sometimes you see people and they're like kind of hanging out because they want you to interview them really badly. And they're kind of like.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Yeah. At that moment actually makes me feel physically sick sometimes. Sometimes just for the sake of it, I unsheathed my umbrella and just put it up sideways. Just block out. Sorry. You launch it over the fence and you're like, sorry, I got to go get my umbrella. Sorry. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:45:00 Oh, damn. I just, I have to go chase my umbrella. No, I'm this. It keeps happening. I feel the same. way like sometimes it's very like they're standing there they're like oh it's so uncomfortable you would know by now if I wanted to interview you yeah body language exists and also actual language exists I'm silent and I'm not looking at you so I'm doing you a favor I'm looking away yes well and also
Starting point is 00:45:22 you and I know because we're like dickheads on the internet like when I do carpets and I'm not working them if no one calls me I girl I'm sprinting oh I'm running so fast down that interview line no If no one stops me, no one stops me. Yeah, we just had, in the UK, we had this thing called the Pride of Britain Awards, which is like a really, like, it's a huge TV show that they do, and it's just like, give back to the community, basically.
Starting point is 00:45:43 And all the biggest celebs go, because they really enjoy, like, the event. So I get to the carpet and I'm like, well, I ain't really gonna sit here and try to get interviewed when like, the literal, like, a prince is over there. Do you know what I mean? So, and this person that I was with was like,
Starting point is 00:45:57 oh, should we not like, try and get some interviews? I was like, that is hell to me. The idea of like walking by, like, that's what I'm saying. Like, me, me, me, me. Yeah, it really feels like, warming up the vocal.
Starting point is 00:46:09 I'm really, no, I don't want to. I'm really shaking the can in people's face. That's how it feels. Like, I'm like, anyone? Anyone? That's why sometimes I feel like I just turn my back and I run because I'm like,
Starting point is 00:46:21 the last thing I want to do is be like, yeah, 100%. Like, I'm not like, where my hug at? Whipping out the nipple tassels. Like, dude. I was like, who me? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:32 Oh. You guys want to ask me questions. Oh, it makes me feel sick. I know. Because I know how awful it is to be on the other side. Me too. So I don't even want to, I literally don't, unless someone physically shouts my name. Mine too.
Starting point is 00:46:46 Same. Yeah. Or I get someone to go down and be like, do you want to talk to him? Yeah. If not, so fine. But like, please don't. And then I said that person, don't tell me how many people said no. I know.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Keep that to yourself. I'm going to go to a bar. I've had that happened before. I've told this story. I went to the only murders in the building season two premiere. And I got there. It was really tiny carpet. I got there late, obviously, because I'm late to everything. And of course, like, when principal cast walks, like, you're dead to them. Like, there's no fucking point. Yeah. But my team told me to still walk,
Starting point is 00:47:15 so I, or try to. And I was like, fuck. So I go in there and then literally my, like, person is holding up my name, my little paper. And then, uh, a guy literally goes, and there's two photographers. Like, you couldn't spare one frame. Oh, my. You don't even have to put it on Getty bitch you could just pretend I have the best story about basically that exact same thing so I went to in London they have like different I don't know what it's like I've not been to many LA premieres but in London they have like different like hierarchies of premiere so like they always do them in Leicester Square where you were for the R-Gar-old one yes yes and they'll either block out the entire thing like it's the new like movie of Harry Potter and like everyone in the
Starting point is 00:47:56 world wants to go to this premiere right or it would like half of it whatever this was whole shebang it was top gun okay what's he called Tom Cruise me that irrelevant guy what's that motherfucker's name how many followers is even have never heard of him breath so it was it was top gun premiere they had this
Starting point is 00:48:16 actual to scale plane fighter jet so you could queue to get a picture like with the like the press pictures I'm talking a wall of paparazzi like must be 20 cameras easily so I queue up I get in line it's finally my turn
Starting point is 00:48:32 I go to stand in front of the fighter jet I adjust my suit. I was like, all with my rings. Okay, okay. Think Verizon is expensive? Think again. Anyone can bring their AT&T or T-Mobile bill to a Verizon store today
Starting point is 00:48:44 and we'll give you a better deal. So bring us your bill. Walk in, running, hogo sticking, teleport if you can. Ride on the back of a rollerblading yak or flying on the wings of a majestic falcon. Any way you can, bring your AT&T or T-Mobile bill
Starting point is 00:48:57 to a Verizon store today and we'll give you a better deal on the best network. Based on Route Metrics, best overall mobile network performance U.S. Second Half 2025. must provide very recent postpaid consumer mobile bill in the name of the person redeeming the deal,
Starting point is 00:49:07 additional terms, conditions, and restrictions supply. Every single camera turns away from it, in unison, turns away from me. I'm like, what the fuck is going on here? You guys all synced up or something? All of a sudden. Was I not in the group text? Like, what the fuck is going on?
Starting point is 00:49:24 Tom Cruise has entered the carpet, that selfish bastard. I look over, I'm like, do you not have enough, Tom? Do you realize that I keep? Oh, yeah, get another pick. Yeah, geez. Get another one. I'm like, right, okay, I literally stayed stood there whilst they're all doing it because I think
Starting point is 00:49:39 someone's eventually got to at least come back. And this woman just shouts to me, she goes, it's not gonna happen. It's not gonna happen. I said, oh my. Right, perfect. Okay, perfect, thank you. I said, are the missiles working in that fighter jet?
Starting point is 00:49:56 Strap me up right now. Like, I was horrified and it gets worse. Just for that, I'm gonna join Scientology. Yes. Just for that? Yeah. I'm going to join Scientology. It's your guys' fault.
Starting point is 00:50:06 I can't even believe it. This story gets even worse because then when I got in eventually to the premiere, obviously my head hung in shame. I was devastated by the events that had just occurred. I arrived in my seat and as it starts, I find that we're in a 4DX cinema. Oh, yeah. The ones that like move the seeds.
Starting point is 00:50:25 So I'm moving around and I, a little, little bit of a fact about me, I get very bad motion sickness. Oh, yeah, me too. So I am currently watching. a movie about fighter jets in the front row of a cinema in a 4DX. So I'm literally like, I'm being rattled around. I vomit. I ran from the front row to the bathroom, vomit, spurt it.
Starting point is 00:50:49 Do you know when like people tried to catch it in their hands? And it's like spurting out. So it's like spurting out. I get to the bathroom. It's gone everywhere. It's gone everywhere. I've got vomit on my trousers, on my blazer. I'm calling my boyfriend,
Starting point is 00:51:03 get the fuck to the bathroom now, get to the bathroom. He eventually comes and we're like, I said, we've got to go, I can't watch this film. Like, this is, this is hell. Like, I'm like, Tom, Tom Cruise has clearly got it out for me. Like, what, like, what more can I do to put this man? Like, so we go to leave the cinema and I'm like, right, okay, like, at least we'll just have to go.
Starting point is 00:51:23 I'll explain to everyone. Like, I was sick. Like, that's normal. That happens at the cinema, I'm sure. And as I'm leaving, I go to open the door to, to go out to like the main body of the cinema. And there's someone, stood in front of the door. Tom fucking Cruz. Tom, I opened. I imagine you're like, you.
Starting point is 00:51:40 I was like, soaked in vomit. I was like, what the fuck is going on here now, Tom Cruise? Like, do you know what you've done to me today? I couldn't believe it. He was doing interviews and getting pictures right there. And he goes, walking you in. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And so I open the door into him. It physically bangs him out the way. This woman goes, what are you doing? I said, I'm trying to get out. Love, I've been through hell. You have shit all over you, by the way. Also, are you aware that you're currently vomiting? Also, you smell weird.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Dude, that is, I couldn't believe it. You go out, as if you haven't taken enough. Oh, Tom Cruise, like, like, you're cruising for a bruising bread. You and Tom Cruise are beefing. Literally, like, and that man is small. I was, I've never been more tempted to just like, yeah, yeah, I could have, you're like, this is the worst night of my life. I couldn't believe it.
Starting point is 00:52:32 What do you have against me, Tom? What have we been through? Like, it was hell. He said, what times Max going to be there? Yeah, I'll be there. Ready to rock his shit. Yeah. This would be the night he never forgets.
Starting point is 00:52:44 And it was. And it was. Imagine he was someone you, like, were mean to once in grade school. He's like, you don't remember me, do you? He's like 100. He's like 50 years old. Oh, and I got offered to interview him for something afterwards. And the thing that I submitted, I was like, well, I have to tell him this story.
Starting point is 00:53:02 And they were like, no, we're not letting you need a Tom Cruise. And I was like, that's actually really fair. Yeah, that makes sense. That's so crazy. And vomiting too while you do it. Vomiting at a movie premiere because of motion sickness to Top Gun is like, what is going on? That's so funny.
Starting point is 00:53:23 Mine's not as bad as that, but like my very first big carpet ever was the movie ambulance. don't know if anyone seen it. Starring, I think, Jake Jillen Hall and I forget who else. But I remember like when I walked, that was my very first time. So I was holding a bag and wearing a jacket because I literally had no fucking clue
Starting point is 00:53:46 how to do a carpet. So when I walked, first of all, it wasn't bad enough. Like the girl who walked me was like not my team. She was just someone who was like walking me and she wrote my name on a piece of paper that was like this big and then was holding it. It was like a laughy. Taffy. She was like, no. And then she was going like this. And then she was out loud going,
Starting point is 00:54:05 no. Okay. No. Oh. And I was like, you don't need to audibly confirm to me like that they said, fuck, no, I don't care about that bitch. And then as soon as they finally, I had some takers. I was like, okay, period. And I start posing. I'm like, oh, my God. Like, because it seemed like it was the energy was coming alive again. And I was like, okay. Yeah. I'm standing there. And then Jason Mamoa was walking right fucking next to me. Why the fuck. was he there because he's not in the movie. I literally was like, and what's this bitch doing here? Do you not have enough going on, Jason?
Starting point is 00:54:37 And he was right behind me and literally was like, Jason, Jason. And then I was like kind of still standing there. And then at one point one guy goes, can you move? Oh. And I go, yes, I can. Yes. Perfect. We got the shot.
Starting point is 00:54:51 Guys, we got the shot. As I woke off. And it's funny because Jason Momoa obviously doesn't know this at all. remember that night, nor does he know that like my man because of the long hair has been compared to him for years. So like when Aquaman came out the first one, it was like hell on earth for both of us. And this is before I was even doing this because everyone was like, you know what you fucking look like. Every fucking where we went like and to the point where they started like going, can I take a picture with you? Which my man hates attention.
Starting point is 00:55:21 Yeah. Which works out because I love attention. So it's perfect. But we're a match made in heaven. But they would like take pictures with him. and it was like getting so annoying to the point where I started workshopping bits. Like I was like, okay, well, if they're going to ask, I'm going to make jokes. So they were like, you know, you look like, you look like, you look just like Aquaman.
Starting point is 00:55:39 Like they would say that. And then I would be like, thank you. And then they would be like, not you, him. No shit, bitch. You pose a Trident out your bag. I was like, and I launched it over the fence. Yeah, of course. Naturally.
Starting point is 00:55:52 That's what I have to do next. And so I have beef with him too. Fair. And next time I meet him, I will, and you bet your ass, I'm going to bring it up. 100%. I'm going to say, you ruined my very first carpet, literally ever. How do you feel about it? As you should.
Starting point is 00:56:04 That bastard. Oh, I hate it. Me and Jason Momoa, you and Tom Cruise. Easy. I think, I think I would love to see that fight. Celebrity boxing match. Yeah. Me and Jason Momoa and you and Tom Cruise.
Starting point is 00:56:18 Yeah. I think that works. I could take that little man, that little Scientologist. Easy. I think so too. I have some fun facts about you. Oh, about me. Yes, about you.
Starting point is 00:56:28 Christ. So we're going to go through them. This first one says you had a pet turtle name George. I did have a pet turtle name, a tortoise. Oh, you would say tortoise. Tortoise. What do you guys call them tortoise? No, that I think that is also very regional to where I live.
Starting point is 00:56:44 Because when I first started to post it on the internet, I thought that people just loved to see my tortoise, but they actually just loved hearing me say tortoise. Because that's not right. You are saying it very weird. I'm saying tortoise quite a lot. Yeah. Yeah, so one of my first, one of my first, like, viral videos was we lost George in the garden. And we just couldn't find him.
Starting point is 00:57:04 So I was like, where the bloody hell is George. Yeah. And people loved the way that I said George as well. They were like, George. So I think people just thought I'd had a lobotomy of some kind. Probably. And they were like, what is this weird boy doing? They were like, oh.
Starting point is 00:57:19 Yeah. He doesn't know how to say things. Yeah. And I didn't. And I still don't. But yeah, we found him months later. He buried himself under the. ground the silly devil what's he playing out that's not how you hibernate lad what you're still around
Starting point is 00:57:33 he's dead oh rip george i killed him how i didn't really i said oh you're face how he messed up my carpet pictures yeah and he'll think twice yeah yeah yeah that was my grass my my shrub he he he chose the wrong day to dig himself in my shrub okay you'll think twice next time yeah natural causes Oh. What a beautiful name though, George. Isn't it? Love that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:59 Okay. It says you moved to London by yourself in the summer of 2019. I did not. That is false. Wow. Amanda. Strike three. Close though.
Starting point is 00:58:09 20-20. Oh, so I'll give Amanda that. I saw the clips from, of every fact that was incorrect about Brittany. Oh, about Britney's and I said, yeah, we're keeping a tab. I'm telling everyone, write that down. So that's strike one.
Starting point is 00:58:24 Yes. moved to London by myself. I went to do an internship at L'Oreal. Oh, nice. Loved it. Worked as the digital marketing intern there, which I felt like I was in Devil Wars Prada. It was really cool.
Starting point is 00:58:36 Like I would... You're giving Andy? 100%. 100%. It was so fun to work at like a really cool company like that. And being from such a small countryside town. Yeah. For them being in like one of the biggest cities in the world.
Starting point is 00:58:50 It was so cool. What's your favorite like traditional British cuisine? Oh, okay. I'd love to know what your favorite is. Do you know what? I'm about to fuck your shit up because you're going to say that this sounds like the most disgusting thing in the entire world. And you could be right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:59:04 But to me, we have, you've heard of Greg's. I mean, I'm sure if you've been to London, you've probably been and got a sausage roll or whatever. Yes. Yeah, yeah. They also have this thing there called a sausage bean and cheese melt. Okay, tea. There is a pastry that has baked beans in it, cheddar cheese and clumps of sausages baked into it. I might be open to that.
Starting point is 00:59:25 Okay. I might be open to trying it. Yeah. I didn't love the beans there. You guys love beans there. We weirdly grow up. And peas. Peas is mushy.
Starting point is 00:59:33 Have you ever had mushy peas? A lot of people told me to have mushy peas and I was like, I don't even want to open that door. She's a bit intimidated. I used to work. My first job, I worked in a chippy, which is a fish and chip shop. Yes. So I would make for the people, I'd be stirring the mushy peas. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:50 I'd be serving it. I did it for, I worked for £2.50 an hour, which is the equivalent of what? like $3 an hour, which sounds illegal, probably was. Right. And I fucking loved it. Battering that fish, you'd get the locals that would come in, mental, like there's something about like, the stories that people have who grew up in the South of America.
Starting point is 01:00:12 Yeah. And like maybe they like move to a city and then they start to, at first they're like, oh, get me away from that. But then when they actually moved to the city, they start to appreciate some things about like their home. Yeah. I really appreciate like someone called Susan who as like seven kids all boys all boys she's got three teeth and she came in every single week and tried to barter me down for fish and chips and I just think what a woman love her what a woman need her yeah she's the bet that's so funny I think I did have fish and chips at a pub oh yeah
Starting point is 01:00:42 they had peas on the plate yeah didn't triumph but the fish and chips that shit was fire oh loved it so good with all that vinegar and shit on it so good you know what I'm trying to wrap my head around now is American cuisine because especially in the last year I've spent a lot of time in LA, New York, and my body still is not adjusted. Every time I come here, I was in the bath like two days ago, nearly shit myself in the bath because of the food.
Starting point is 01:01:05 Like, there's something going on. Like, the chemicals that are just in the everyday foods here. It's true, yeah. I don't understand it. I ordered a Joe on the juice this morning. Okay. The exact same sandwich that I order in London almost every single day. It was like twice the calories and tasted completely different.
Starting point is 01:01:21 But it tasted good. Like, it tasted really good. But it tasted like it wasn't. good for me. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Like in the long run. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:01:29 Yeah. It scares me. I was talking about this with my sister recently, but like I see a guy that does pie and mash. He owns one of those stores. Oh yes. Yeah. And he does like with the stewed eels and the liquor and all of that.
Starting point is 01:01:42 Yeah. Yeah. I was, I watch him do that all the time and I'm like, that looks fucking terrible. Unfortunately, I will have to try it now. Like the next time I go, I need to see what it's about. It's strange. I grew up. I once, because I, when I first went to university, I couldn't cook at all. I'd never witnessed like a family that knew how to cook. Like, so when I got with my first boyfriend, I, oh, when I first went to university, I nearly got scurvy. Do you know what scurvy is? Yes, of course. Is that what pirates get. Yeah. Yeah, I nearly got that due to lack of nutrition because all the food that was eating was frozen. And then I got with my first boyfriend and he saw me get a full chicken breast, put it in the oven raw and sprinkle like gravy granules on top thinking that would like season it and cook into the chicken and that's when he said like this is an emergency situation we need to sort something here
Starting point is 01:02:35 and then I'd reflect on like my grandma I'd go to my grandma's house every day after school and we'd sit around like a pot of like water beef potatoes and carrots and then there'd be a loaf of bread in the middle that would we'd just butter and we'd all be fighting over the butter I sound like fucking Oliver Twist. Oh my God. But like that is what I grew up on. Tiny Tim head-ass meal. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:02:59 So no wonder I come here. I go to the olive garden for one day and I shit in the bath because my body can't take it. Shitting myself everywhere. Because you're eating like a World War I survivor. Yeah. Okay. Another fun fact. Obviously it says your original life plan was to go to university study digital marketing,
Starting point is 01:03:16 which we know. Also you were a contestant on the most recent season of I'm a celebrity get out of here, Australia. Very fun. And the last fun one says, can Max explain this Scholars Travel Pass from 2014? Oh. What the fuck? You look British as hell
Starting point is 01:03:38 in this picture. What the fuck? You look like he man. How was, I don't know. Amanda, points for Amanda. Amanda, you ate. She has, she has some misses, but when she hits, she hits hard. Amanda, you hit to the core.
Starting point is 01:03:58 How the fuck did you find that I've not seen that? You look so cute. That was around the time that I first went to Florida with my family to go to Disneyland and I got misgendered the entire trip. Brilliant times. Brilliant times. Hey, little missy, come upon here. They said, are you happy to be a Disneyland little princess? Yeah, everywhere I went.
Starting point is 01:04:17 Everywhere I went. Yeah, to be fair, I have a bulb and bangs. Yeah, you look delightfully British. Yeah, but it's so cute. So cute, though. I completely forgot. that picture existed. Wow. That was my bus pass for school. I had to show that every day to get on the bus to get on the school bus. And I had to have that same picture up until I was 16 years old.
Starting point is 01:04:40 I submitted for it to be changed every year and they wouldn't let me for someone. Why? I don't know. I think that it was like, I think somebody liked it. I don't know. Someone said, nah, make him keep it. That's funny. That's funny. That is so, you look very cute. What was that? I don't even know where that will be. Probably on my Instagram or something. Yeah. snaps from Anta. You guys have to have these little travel passes to take the bus. Yeah. So we had to,
Starting point is 01:05:03 oh my God, yeah. And the school bus in the UK is so different to an American school bus. Yeah. Like I'm talking on the way to school, we had double-decker buses. Okay. So I would sit with my friends at the front on the top level.
Starting point is 01:05:17 And as the years progression, you would move back in the bus. The older you got. Yeah. But at the beginning, we loved it because we'd go under this bridge every day where there would be loads of pigeons that lived. So every day,
Starting point is 01:05:29 picture this, a bunch of British school kids going, oh, and then you'd kill a pigeon. Because the bus would run into a pigeon, and everyone would cheer. Why? I don't know. We cheer, we'd be like, yeah, we got one. That's horrible. You're like, yeah, they are a little different
Starting point is 01:05:50 from American school buses. Yeah, you're right. They're way fucking different from American school. Guys, we're not hunter-gatherers. Like, why are we, why are we? excited about the death of this bird. Yeah, fuck pigeons. Yeah. Got them. Really weird, but loved that. Yeah, love to school books. Great times. Great times. Lots of bonding, uh, watching pigeons die. Bonding over your travel pass, obviously. Not the travel past. Jesus, class. Well, I fucking love you. Oh, I adore you. I think you're so funny and so sweet. I'm so glad we got to key for so long.
Starting point is 01:06:23 And I'm so happy to see how much you've been hosting and doing so much. many more things. I think you're a fucking gem. Oh, thank you so much. It's such a weird career path to go down. Like I said, I didn't think that this would be my life and I'm so grateful that it is and to have the opportunities to, you know, do red carpets. Like I've, I've just started my own interview series show that you're coming on. Yes, period. It's called performance review. And that is like, the fact that I have a show where I interview people and it's like all from my brain and it's like so thematically done and it's so stupid and camp and lovely and the fact that I get to do stuff like that yeah it's like we've literally won the lottery no truly I have one way the lottery like I I work one of
Starting point is 01:07:09 my best friends is my assistant I hired her like two years ago because I I look at the state of the world now and I'm like oh my god it's so difficult and I just feel so grateful to to get to do what we get to do and we yeah it's just been so amazing to get to know you during this episode like I think that you're I think your career is so inspiring. Thank you. Likewise. But I'm not going to like make out with you now. I'm going to compliment you on. We'll save that for your show.
Starting point is 01:07:35 Yeah, yeah. We'll make out over there. Indeed. Yeah. But I think you're amazing and so lovely and I'm so happy for you. I'm, I hope if this is a dream of yours, I would love to see you host the Great British Making show. Oh my God.
Starting point is 01:07:46 That is absolutely a dream of mine. I would love for you to do that. I think you would thrive in that. Oh, Alison Hammond needs a, uh, you know, a frail, gray-skinned looking white boy. Whenever Noel decides to retire, I think you and Alison would take it. 100%. I think you would eat it. 100%.
Starting point is 01:08:02 Oh, soggy bottoms all the way, though. They owe you one soggy bottom, obviously. Do you have, just to kind of close this out, do you have any advice for any other aspiring, whether it's like hosts, interviewers or like even social people, people who want to be personalities for living? Like, do you have any advice for any of them? Do you know what I always say is know you're worth and stand up for yourself when you need to? That exact story of that woman saying,
Starting point is 01:08:26 No, I actually don't want to do that. Yeah. I've had that exact same experience where someone's been so rude to me. Yeah. And then they've come over to do something and I've gone, actually there's power in knowing your worth. You're not at the beck and call of every single big company and all of this. Like if you show yourself and people respond to that, you are making your own media company.
Starting point is 01:08:46 Yeah. You are, Drew Afuilohlo is a media enterprise. Do you know what I mean? Period. And that's the direction that things are going in. So don't feel afraid to water. like never water yourself down. And that's when you'll really see success.
Starting point is 01:09:00 Period. Perfect advice. I love you. And fuck Tom Cruise. Yeah. And fuck Tom Cruise, by the way. Yeah, you guys are going to celebrity boxing match, obviously. Easy.
Starting point is 01:09:11 And then me and Jason Mo will open up for you. It'll be a little appetizer for everybody.
