Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to the Daily Stoic podcast, designed to help bring those four key stoic virtues, courage, discipline, justice, and wisdom into the real world. It's happening to them and to you too. It sneaks up on you. Your favorite athlete who you remember getting drafted retires after a long career. Your friend's kid who you remember being little graduates from high school. You visit your childhood home as Seneca did. and you find out the trees you remembered growing up are now dying of old age.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Time. It sneaks up on you. Can you believe that the Daily Stoic is 10 years old? Ten years. A decade has passed like that. I can hardly believe it myself. But it's true. In 2016, I sat down to write this book that would present Stoicism in a one-page-per-day format.
Starting point is 00:00:59 I didn't know how it would do or who it would reach, but here we are. not just 10 years later, but 3 million copies later. The book is in 40 languages, and stoicism is still going strong. Maybe you read it when it came out or a couple of years ago. Maybe you remember it coming out. Time has passed. The ideas haven't changed, as the Stoics say, but you have. And in this case, the pages of the book have changed,
Starting point is 00:01:27 because we updated it and improved it in a major way. It's got 60 new quotes from Stoits. we didn't include before. It's got better stories. It's got illustrations. I got to fix things. I got to tighten things up. My own study of Stoicism has gotten better. And I think the book has gotten better, right? That's the whole point of Stoicism. It's supposed to be this iterative process where we get better as we go. Yes, time is working on us, but are we working on ourselves at the same time? That is the question. And if you want this new edition of the Daily Stoic, we've got signed first editions in the Daily Stoic store, a very limited run of those. We've got the new leather edition.
Starting point is 00:02:02 to all of that in today's show notes. Thanks to everyone who supported the book. I hope you like it.
