Starting point is 00:00:50 We all feel that way, but that doesn't mean it's true. Athletes learn that your body is a liar, that when you feel like you're at capacity, you're not even close to your physical limitations. Courtney Dewalter talked about this in an amazing episode of the Daily Stoic podcast a while back. This is partly why Seneca talked about treating the body rigorously so that we can learn to triumph over these limitations that we get good at asserting who is actually in charge. I can handle way more than I
Starting point is 00:01:18 can handle, Bon Iver sings, and it's true. We all can. You have so much more in you than it feels like you do. And how do you know this? Because the load you're handling today dwarfs the load you could have carried at other times in your life. The things you are handling calmly today would have freaked you out just a few years ago.
Starting point is 00:01:35 You have so much more capacity. Your inner citadel is strong. You got this. And look, that's what I'm trying to say in discipline is destiny. We've got to cultivate this destiny, that's what I'm trying to say in Discipline is Destiny. We've got to cultivate this destiny, this command of one's self. So when we have command of oneself,
Starting point is 00:01:51 we can command ourselves in so many difficult and stressful, even scary situations. All the virtues are related. There's a big overlapping here with courage. Like, no, you can do it. Don't be so afraid. Courage is calling discipline is destiny are two great places to start
