Anytime, anywhere.
This is Dale Jr., and you're listening to Dirty Mo Radio.
Hey, everybody.
It's Jr.
Just got home from the race today at Kansas.
The 88 guys finally got a finish.
I know that Greg and the guys are really hoping to be able to put one together,
and it certainly, they had their share of adversity.
Alex got into the fence off of a turn to there trying to get around some cars he was lapping
and got a little over-eager there early in the race and got the guys got the team behind.
But man, he drove great regardless.
The car was awesome.
And he ran the high line most of the day.
I think he ran maybe three or four laps on each run on the bottom.
and then he'd work at top really hard the rest of the run spent all day up there against the wall
that's hard to do without getting trying to get a little bit more and getting in getting into more
trouble so i was real proud of the way he drove and real proud of the cars you know the cars
have gotten so much better and the guys are really working hard have worked hard since the
summer to improve the speed in the cars and get get the cars more competitive and you can really see
the whole company is much more competitive than we've been throughout the year.
Alex was sick all weekend.
He had a stomach bug before the race and after the race he took some fluids.
I tweeted a picture of him after the race and taking some fluids.
I guess you're not supposed to do that, but taking pictures in medical.
rooms and stuff like that. But anyhow, frowned upon, I got a little slap on the wrist, but
I just wanted everybody to know how hard he'd worked and what he was going through inside the car.
He was sick and wanting to puke and it wasn't fun, but when they threw the rag, every time they
threw the green flag restarts, he's up on the wheel and ran hard. And I just wanted everybody to
know not only, you know, did he do a good job.
He's a good driver, and he realized some potential today.
He did it through some really tough adversity.
So his, I had a chance to meet his dad out on pit road after the race.
That was pretty cool.
Hadn't met much of Alex's family.
We've been working with Alex for a while and had a chance to really get to know him all that well, to be honest with you.
But it's been fun seeing him get this chance.
Otherwise, you know, I thought the race went pretty much as expected.
You know, I love those mile and a half races during the day.
You could see those guys working the top and the bottom.
There's a lot of room, a lot of big wide, there's a big wide groove.
Kansas is such a great racetrack that it provides so much room to run.
And the top is as competitive as the bottom, if not more so at times, depending on your car.
even and that even all
becomes better during the day
when there's more track temperature
and the track is a little slicker
so as it cools off at night
at the bottom really gets more
and more
important but
I love those
I think that was a pretty fun race
you know there's a lot of excitement
a lot of good passing
and a lot of green flag runs
and stuff like that
but they were still, you know, guys moving around and making passes and wasn't really
followed the leader and everybody stuck behind each other like you see at a lot, some of the
other tracks.
But anyhow, that was pretty much yet, pretty uneventful for the most part.
We had a little damage on the left rear core panel from the one car coming off of turn two.
That was a little bit of a scare.
We came in, got that tuned up.
Then he hit the wall.
He came right to pit road.
we got right side tires and we lost a couple laps and he was able to drive back around the leader to get back on one lap down
and then we knew from there we'd have an opportunity to the race for the lucky dog and uh anyhow we got back on a lead lap and
we had a top top 10 car for sure and he did a good job um next week we go to talladega and i'm anxious about uh i'll be there
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for that.
But look forward to seeing
how the Xfinity teams
respond after a couple weeks off.
They won't be racing for a few weeks, and that's
going to be interesting to see
how they respond when they come back from their little
break, but I'll be in Talladega watching
Alex, and we'll be talking to him this week,
trying to give him tips about drafting
and what to expect and what he can expect from his car
and things he can try to use out
there in the draft that maybe he doesn't know about just yet um so i'll talk to him a little bit
this week i'll be in the simulator some i've been doing that which has been a lot of fun that's also
you know it's great to be able to help the company uh i was been doing a lot of sponsor appearances
and stuff throughout the week we were in martinsville promoting the race up there and the lights
that they're going to install at martinsville this week we went to do some work and sign some
autographs for Exaltz on Saturday at Charlotte Merr Speedway with their with with with
MAKO and entertained a lot of folks there and we went out to dinner with Exaltta
as well so just we know we've been running around and trying to do everything
we're supposed to be doing outside the car while we're not able to drive just
jet.
Boy, today was a day where I would have liked to have been in there for sure running
that high side.
That's really enjoyable.
But in Talladega, that'll be fun to watch, but there'll be a part of me each lap
wanting to be in there making the decisions as far as what's going on in the draft.
But the season's flying by, and to be honest with you, I'll be glad when it's over
so we can start planning for next year and get.
getting all geared up for that.
I've been, you know, still working on my rehabilitation
and doing all the stuff that doctors have been asking me to do.
All that's going along as planned, no setbacks.
And that's about it.
It's pretty good, pretty good day at the track.
So I'll talk to you guys later.
I hope you enjoy the download.
and I hope Alex gets to feel him better.
He's going to be trying to get over this stomach bug
before the next few days
and get back into racing form
and go to Talladegh and see what he can do.
Talk to you later.
Thank you, my man.
We appreciate you.

Mike Davis is on the lead lap.
He is not in the garage this week.
That was terrible last week.
First name Davis is here, and I am Taylor Zarzer.
Good stuff there from Dale Jr.
And he said there's a part of me that wishes I'd be in the car this week.
I think there's a huge part of all of us that wish that he'd be in the car at Talladega Super Speedway.
on Sunday. As painful as the finish was last year, that's about as much fun of any,
as there is any place, Mike, to watch Dale race in that 88.
Ain't no doubt about it. You know, I was just thinking there were probably parts of that
race yesterday at Kansas where Alex Bowman wishes that Dale Jr. was in the car at that point.
Wow, how about that?
But, you know, to your point, yeah, Talladega, Dale Jr., it's meant to be.
It's meant to be together.
You know, and when they're not together, it feels like it feels like that there needs to be some therapy.
And I think the therapy needs to be with us because I don't like watching Talladega races without an Earnhardt in it, for sure.
I know.
I don't know.
That's going to be a very awkward feeling.
Come Sunday.
A couple of things, Mike, we need to talk about.
Bowman really is showing that he belongs at this circuit.
And this guy is creating a lot of opportunities for his future.
And I thought Sunday was the very best example of that, especially given how he felt.
to have that top 10 finish.
And as Dale mentioned, they legitimately were a top 10 car.
There was nothing fluky about it.
I mean, that was a clearly it was a top 10 car when they got back on the lead lap.
And Hendrick Motorsports in general has really come on since the Chase started.
Jimmy's obviously into the next round.
Casey's been running great, even though he's outside the top 16.
Yeah.
Chase has been running awesome.
Chase has the worst luck in the world.
Yeah.
But he's wrecked last week.
Yeah, he's been running great.
I mean, all four cars.
And that, I know, gives Junior Nation a lot of confidence.
It gives Dale Jr. a lot of confidence going into 2017.
Well, you know, what's more than the finish is, when you look at the 88 team,
it's just how they've been qualifying in the past couple weeks.
Second and fifth?
Are you kidding me?
What happened to our 13th to 15th place qualifying?
I'm starting to miss it a little bit.
Are you?
No, I'm not.
No.
Okay.
Too far.
Kevin Harvick's the only one that can get away with that and then win races, obviously.
Right, which that's just, you know, he's sick.
He's a sick individual.
I mean, like, and sick in a good way.
But yeah, I mean, the 88 team, how good are they looking and qualifying?
And then they're putting together in the race.
But let's talk about this for a second as far as Bowman goes.
Yeah.
If you are confined to a space for three and a half hours, what is the worst thing that you could, like, imagine happening for you?
When you are in one space with nowhere to go, what is the worst thing that you can feel?
like need to go to the bathroom kind of feel?
That's what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Like I was thinking, what would be the worst thing?
If you can't go anywhere, it would have to be go to the bathroom, right?
So how awful?
I guess like on a plane, if I'm sitting in the middle seat on a plane between two people that are much bigger than I am.
Which is just about anybody.
Yeah, if I'm not bigger, if I'm not allowed to go to the bathroom.
We have horrible turbulence.
Right.
You know.
Yeah.
And you're not allowed to get up out of your seat.
Like that's bad.
by the way, compared to what Alex Bowman had to go through yesterday.
But no, it's hard for me to imagine what that feels like.
Just to go to the bathroom, just to go to the bathroom.
If you are not allowed to do that for three and a half hours, it's miserable.
Now, imagine how awful it is to have the stomach virus and not be able to go anywhere to,
I don't know what's to expel it.
I don't even know what his specific situation.
I know that they said it one.
They wanted to, hey, if you need to vomit right now, here's the caution, here's the time to do it.
They actually said that to him during the race.
But, like, I think about the prospects, the possibilities of a stomach virus, the possibilities
alone are enough for me to cancel a vacation just in case it happens, right?
Like, it is awful.
And yet, Bowman finished in the top 10.
What's more than that is that he's basically on a big job interview.
Is he not?
I mean, like he's in auditioning right now for a ride.
He doesn't have one next year.
And so here he is an audition.
So then you go look at that analogy.
What if you were in a job interview for three and a half hours and you have a stomach virus?
Say, you know, if you were getting that big promotion at Sirius XM, Taylor,
and you had a three and a half hour job interview with a stomach virus.
Like, I think that one of the seven circles of hell have to be attributed to this.
I got it now.
I mean, this is not apples to apples.
What Alex Bowman went through on Sunday absolutely is worse.
But I'm broadcasting a college football game.
Here you go.
For ESPN on a Saturday.
And what happens to Alex Bowman happens to me.
And I mean, I can't say, guys, I'll be back later.
That's right.
You can't.
And we'll let the analyst do the play.
You can't do that.
That's exactly it.
That's it.
This is going to happen to me.
There's no question at some point in the next 20, 30 years.
This is going to happen.
I mean, you're on live TV.
I mean, you went to Arkansas,
Ole Miss over the weekend, correct?
I did.
You can't just get up and go to the bathroom if there's, you know, in the middle of a game.
No, I mean, I have to go to the, Davis will tell you,
I have the smallest splatter in the world.
So if somebody tried, they always try to bring me all these waters and drinks,
and I'm like, no, thank you.
And they're like, well, no, I'm like, I'm serious.
I can't have it.
I cannot have it.
However, Taylor, though, I just want to say, though, if it does,
ever happened and I'm watching or listening to one of your broadcasts listen if one of your
broadcasts they go Taylor will be right back he had to go to the bathroom that'll be the biggest
like crazy that'll be the biggest Dale yeah moment of my lifetime my man is going I know what's
going on if you listen to episode six million of the Dale junior download Taylor had an accident
sorry episode 154 of the Dale junior download you know what's going on right now
Dale yeah yeah episode six million
Right.
But yeah, I mean, so the fact that all that's going on, it's got to be miserable.
And if you look at Dale Jr's picture that apparently he got in trouble for a little bit.
I knew he was.
Bowman's sitting there getting fluids, get the IV hooked up to him.
I mean, that was miserable.
That was a miserable three and a half hours for Alex Bowman.
And yet he came home and finished seventh.
And what's more, he had to come from two laps down to do it.
Kudos to Alex Bowman for sticking to it.
You can't get out.
What would it say about Alex Bowman?
if he actually had to be substituted when he is the substitute driver.
It's Alex Bowen's flu game, like Jordan.
Like Michael Jordan's flu game against the Utah Jazz.
Absolutely, yeah.
No, it's the flu game.
That's a good point.
Sometimes Davis goes over our head with this NBA references.
Rain Man over here just throws out something from like 20 years ago.
You don't have any idea what this guy's capable of when it comes to those kind of references.
Mike, I don't think there's any question that Alex Bowman.
has proven he is a legitimate cup series driver.
I think that's inarguable, right?
Here's the question I have for you,
because you understand the business better than just about anyone.
Do you think he's going to get that chance?
I think that 50-50 is probably his best odds,
if we're being honest.
You've got to get the financial backing.
And a lot of people that listen to this podcast will sit there and, you know,
MF the sport because of its corporate, you know,
that it lives off the corporate lifeblood.
But I don't think it's any different anywhere else to be honest with you.
It's just probably it's the way the world works.
It is absolutely the way the world works.
It's just not as obvious as it is in NASCAR where it's in your face how this sport works.
It's not as obvious in other sports as it is in NASCAR.
That's right.
But it's very obvious in the real world.
Because in other sports, it doesn't directly affect the competition like it does in NASCAR.
Like it matters.
You will either race or.
you will not race and the field will look different based off of your presence or your absence.
And that directly affects the competition and the level of competitiveness out there.
So that being said, I think that Alex has a 50-50 chance.
You know, it just matters on if he can get one of these people to buy into him.
And it's hard.
Listen, he's been in cup.
He lost his right at Tommy Baldwin's last year.
And so it's not easy.
And that's unfortunate because he is a wheelman.
But he is.
It's just the way the world works.
And I mean, I think that's so true what you just said.
Certainly there's great prize money for drivers, Mike.
But for an entire team, you have to have that kind of backing.
If you want to have the right kind of equipment and be competitive,
that's just reality is the way the world works.
And I hope I really am.
I'm pulling for him.
I hope he gets that chance.
Yeah.
And I think a lot of people that certainly love Dale Jr.
And Dale Jr. fans have become big.
fans of Alex Bowman. I know I have in the last couple months.
I'll finish it by saying this. I mean, the same thing holds true here at Junior Motorsports.
He drives our JRM car on a part-time basis. It's because we don't have all the seats that
we have available are filled with drivers that have that financial backing. Justin Algar and
Brandt, you know, Elliot Sadler and one main. Those are brands. And you cannot like that all you
want. But the fact is that those brands, those people have to latch on and develop some driver
equity to grow their brands and they are well within their right to do that they are well within
their right to say this is the guy that i want to represent my brand and this is what we'll do we'll
pay you the money to go race if we can have this guy represent our brand because this is what we think
will grow and that's they're well within the right to do that Alex Bowman would be a good one but
you just got to convince those people to believe in you what do you think's going to happen
with who gets cut off after daga on sunday legano and austin dylan are
tied for eighth place right now.
They are six points ahead of Denny Hamlin.
Yeah.
And then he's in 10th place.
And then Kozlowski behind him.
He's seven back and then Chase has to win unless there's just carnage.
It's crazy that Chase has to win, given the way he's competed each week.
Right.
But he is 25 points out of eighth place.
So he's going to, he would need, you know, he'd need Lugano, Dylan,
Hamlin, Kislauski, all to get collected.
And you know what else?
I would also say that if it was anywhere else,
Martin Truex would be pretty safe because he's 10 points ahead,
or exactly 13 points ahead of Joey Lagano.
But at Talladega, that's a good point.
He's not even safe.
You got to finish.
You got to finish that race.
Kurt Busch's.
Kurt Busch's.
Kurt Busch is a little bit ahead of Trux.
So I'm saying, you know, listen, Kislowski,
as good as he is at Talladega,
and he's sitting there seven points behind.
the cut line. It's going to be interesting.
Something wild is going to happen there.
Yeah, I think so. They're going to have to race.
They're forced to race. Now, the guys at front, watch them bail out.
Don't, don't, you know, Kevin Harvick doesn't go have to ruin somebody else's chance to win Talladega this time.
I don't think. He's locked in.
This is going to be tough.
Like we said earlier, not to have junior in the car.
Your boy, Tony Gibson, said that next week's race to Talladega, quote, it's going to be as crazy as the election, end quote.
That's not possible, Tony.
No, no, I doubt it.
I understand what you're saying, but that's not, that is impossible.
It's close, but it is not possible.
This election is insane.
It's time now for reaction theater.
You think that they could use a restricter play at a time or two between the candidates?
I think so.
Anyways, yeah.
Mike Davis don't suck.
Piles B.
Crybaby Lugano suck.
Then he'd get rid of those two butt heads.
Later, man, Dale on.
Dale on.
What do we have here?
I'm confused.
Oh, first name, Dale on.
Dale on, I kind of like it.
What is that a playoff of?
Is that a playoff something?
Keep calling and carry on that, like, old saying.
I don't know if people do that.
Yeah, keep calm and Dale on.
What's that website?
The chive.
Yeah.
Keep calm and chive on.
Keep calm and dale on.
There you go.
All right.
I can dig that.
Who's next?
Big shout out to Harvard.
broke up the dang Toyota wins for the weekend.
Huge thing.
Shout out to Elliot for being in second.
Hey, that's okay.
Yeah, I am.
Had a good day.
Hendrick had an okay day.
Bowman did pretty good.
And, um,
hey,
I hate it for Chase.
You know,
hoping he was still going to get a win,
but I don't know, man.
Just glad he's his nickname.
But hey,
at least he's going to a freaking Toyota.
A weekend.
One of a could.
Glad they're going to Degger.
Just wish that Degga was.
wasn't a cutoff race because it's way too much stake, but hey, I'm not NASCAR.
I'm not that politically correct and politically driven.
So on the next time, Dale freaking yeah.
Dale, yeah.
And Elliot, yeah, too, by the way.
Still tied for the top with Suarez and seven ahead of Blake and then 12 ahead of Justin,
who's still got a shot in fourth place.
That was a crazy Xfinity Series race this weekend.
Yeah.
And now they take two weeks off, which is just so weird.
Yeah, it's weird.
Yeah, but they have a really good points race going right now.
Al-Gyre gets completely smashed in this thing because somebody wrecked him,
and yet he somehow comes back with a salvageable finish.
He's on the cut line.
He's tied with Eric Jones.
Eric Jones got wrecked by Kyle Larson, which if we ever want to get into a debate,
you know, we talk about how the non-chaise drivers in the Cup series
if they can affect, you know, how they affect the chase drivers.
you know, in these races.
Well, how about Kyle Larson coming into the Xfinity series
and sort of taking out Eric Jones
who was leading the race?
And then I think
I think, I don't know if it was this weekend
or just late last week,
but Steve O'Donnell was on Sirius XM NASCAR channel.
There you go.
It was this week.
It was considering their NASCAR is talking about
how they're considering limiting drivers.
There's news coming on that.
Oh, there we go.
Mike Davis.
Oh, Mike Davis.
There you go.
who's next?
Yo guys, it's Trevor calling in.
I thought it was a pretty decent race, pretty competitive race.
Happy Harvick got himself a win,
and we all know that he comes to the chase, ready to play,
and ready, always prepared,
as long as he can keep those pit stops under control with his crew there.
All should be well with him.
So I forgot to wish Dale Jr.
Happy birthday last week,
I want to do that and call in and say hi and hope all you guys have a good Monday.
And with that, I'll see you guys and hear from me next week.
So with that, hashtag Mike Davis doesn't suck.
And you guys have a great Monday.
Thanks for having me.
What has happened here where all of a sudden we have this big movement?
Now, nobody calls in and says Mike Davis sucks.
Everybody calls in and says Mike Davis doesn't suck.
How many you started it, didn't you, Taylor?
How many tweets did you get?
last time. See, it was so funny because I was in the middle of my, you know, crisis, which was the day-long crisis.
That's true. I did last week. I did. I did. I'm assuming I had you to thank for it. I was about to thank you. I was going to see your call.
I was worried about you last week. Now I'm starting to think that it was just a one-time thing and you didn't mean it for beyond Monday. Right. That's exactly right. I just wanted to pick you up on Monday and then tear you back down on Tuesday.
Got it. Well, that hasn't happened yet, thankfully. They just don't think I suck. By the way, what did you know?
think Clayton Kirshaw on the Sunday night.
He is a stud.
I'm going to tell you something.
I got nothing but to be impressed.
I mean, it's suck that the Cubs only get two hits off him.
God, that guy's amazing.
He really is.
It's a good thing you're only going to get to see him one more time.
Otherwise, Cubs would be in trouble.
Who's next?
I'd like to extend a tibily cap to the showman, Alex Bowman.
What a hell of a job that kid has done in that nationwide car.
he come out today with his best
career finish and the kids fighting
a god's flu. If I got the flu,
I can't even
keep on watching Netflix episodes after it says
are you sure you want to continue watching this episode?
Are you right? That's right.
Like my God, this guy is doing an amazing
job. Like, good God,
somebody, get this kid a ride.
And secondly,
I didn't think
it would come to this
after when Junior announced he was going to
come out, but we are going to experience
a plate race
without an Earnhardt in it
and I don't know if
Jeffrey's going to be in the race
I don't think Carrier Kelly are going to be
suiting up anytime soon so
it's going to be a sad day next week
so I guess all I can say is
Alex, yeah
let's go get a
Big W for the boss man
Dale yeah
Bowman the showman
Yeah I think it's a Dale Jr.
giving Nicky. Yeah I think he started
that maybe not, I don't know, but he's the first time I heard it.
Me too.
Trade market.
Who's next?
I am thrilled that Alex Bowman fought through the adversity of being sick and claimed
another top 10.
This proves that Team 88 is a force to be reckoned with.
Speaking of being a force to be reckoned with, I have an announcement.
Currently, I am on vacation in Puerto Marello's Mexico.
after a long night of imbibing on the local libation of choice,
I awoke this morning with a moment of clarity.
It has become clear to me I can no longer in good conscience run for President of Junior Nation.
Oh, man.
Though I am certain I would kick submarine Mike's ass.
The fact of the matter is, the next three weeks for me,
they need to be filled with hard campaigning.
but I will be focusing all my efforts to my sloppy yellow party at Texas Motor Speedway.
That's fair.
Besides, I don't kiss Taylor, Zarser, or Mike Davis's ass as much as Submarry Mike does.
That's true.
But don't despair, Junior Nation, I have summoned the next best thing and possibly an even better representation of the common man of Junior Nation to myself.
And I implore all of you to throw your support to my replacement.
the macho man.
Ooh, yeah.
Dale yeah.
Dale yeah.
I respect that.
He does need to put all his effort into Texas Motor Speedway
and everything that happens there with sloppy yellow over that weekend.
And it's hard to campaign when you have that on the horizon, Mike.
And Datto is not very good at kissing butt.
In fact, he's terrible at it.
So, you know, he's going to live his way.
He doesn't really care what anyone else.
says, even though he's dead wrong about what he said about rendezvous and locals going to
eat there.
Hey, listen, that's what makes Dado Dado.
You know, he's in his own lane.
But he does.
He needs to prepare all of his energy to Texas Motor Speedway.
I can buy into that.
Did you hear that he is looking into buying another bus?
A second bus.
A second bus.
Which actually, actually, it might be his third bus if we're keeping score.
But I don't think he kept the other bus.
He did buy it.
He bought one of the short buses a couple years ago.
And he caught it sloppy seconds.
Oh, that's funny.
And he wanted to keep it.
And he wanted to keep it out on the East Coast for his races on the East Coast.
And he asked me if I would keep it at my house.
And you declined that.
He's like, you can use it any time you want.
Did you decline that or did Sarah decline that?
I declined it on behalf of Sarah.
You didn't even need to ask.
You knew that was not a good idea.
So I don't know whatever happened there.
This is big news that Dato's disqualified.
He's dropping out of the race.
Yeah, it is big news, but I don't know if there was even an election day on our campaign, was there?
I don't know.
And he nominated Machia Man Reddy Savage.
What's the tie there?
Is there a reason?
Or did he just want to snap into a slim gym real quick?
Yeah, we have a lot of Machia Man Reddy Savage.
Savage callers today.
Or they called in the reaction theater to show their support for Machu Man Randy Savage.
I think it's off, he did a rant scope last night.
Okay.
He did a ranty nights ago and tried to.
Macho Man passed away about five years ago, I believe.
Right.
That's what I'm trying to understand.
Why?
What's the upticking trend here on Randy Machomans Savage?
Because everybody likes talking in his voice, I think.
I don't know.
All right.
Who's next?
What up, Bras?
It's why I'm not to here.
And I've been watching
NASCAR after I started
listening to the Dale Jr.
Download a couple weeks ago.
And I would like to throw in my endorsement for the
president of Junior Nation.
Most of you probably
think of that I would vote
for the bra
submarine mic because we both like the
water. That's not the case.
Some of you might think
that I'd endorse the bra
sloppy yellow because we both
like the party. That's not
the case.
my endorsement for the president of junior nation
is my main bra
Randy the macho man savage
What is going on?
Yeah
Never do a slim to him
Hell yeah
What is happening?
All right so there's two votes for Randy
Macho Man Savage got it
Davis
Davis they made the cut even
I mean like it's not enough
It's not enough that they did it
Is submarine Mike being beaten by a man that's no longer living?
I think maybe that's what the intent is.
That's tough.
If you lose an election to somebody that's dead,
how demoralizing is that?
That's pretty low.
I can't think of anything worse.
That would hurt my self-esteem.
Yeah.
You lost to somebody that's dead, man.
Who's next?
I say, take it that way.
Oh, my gosh.
Taylor, I told you I'd sing you a song.
Come to the light, my friend.
Sorry, it took a week.
I ran from a hurricane.
Hashtag nice run by Bowman.
Hashtag Mike Davis still rocks.
Hashtag anybody but dato.
All right, Taylor, let's get your official response.
He sang a song.
This was a ballad to you.
I'm incredibly uncomfortable right now.
I guess it's my first thought.
Was it enough to win your vote?
No, it was not.
No.
Then we can expect another ballad next week.
Datto, please come back.
Please come back, Datto.
Listen, Submarine Mike has a good heart, clearly, but that was terrifying.
I'm sorry.
That's not the way to win me over.
Was that the clown you said that?
No, that wasn't.
Mike, what were your thoughts about that phone call?
I thought it was fantastic.
I thought it was very pitch perfect.
Did he win your vote?
I thought he nailed all the notes.
I thought it was fantastic.
It was a little too slow and romantic sounding.
He's an American Idol.
Yeah.
Does he have your vote, Mike Davis?
If he sings another ballad but a little bit more romantic to you next week, then he'll have my vote.
I cannot wait for that day until Dale Jr. is driving again, and the love songs dedicated to me are done.

You know what? I was so concerned for Alex
Bowman after yesterday's race.
I saw the picture from Dale Jr.
on social media.
And Alex sort of looked dead, to be honest with you.
Layed out on this table.
I wasn't even sure if he was aware that Dale was in there snapping photos.
Not even sure if Alex got approval rights for the photos that were going to be put out for public consumption.
But nonetheless, it made me concerned for him.
And so for this segment, I honestly just wanted to see if Alex is okay.
And I texted Alex.
He actually was going to be stopping by.
So Alex Bowman is in studio real quick.
Alex, I just want to know how you feeling, buddy.
Are you okay?
Yeah, definitely a lot better than I was yesterday.
Start of the day, I guess the night before, got real sick.
Couldn't keep food down.
Couldn't keep anything down.
So just that morning got fluids, tried to get some medicine to help me make it through the race.
But I was so dehydrated even to start the race that after 400 miles, I was incredibly dehydrated.
and just thankful for the NASCAR staff and everybody in the infield care center
for getting me hooked up on some fluids and definitely feeling better today.
Earlier in this podcast, we were discussing amongst ourselves.
Is there anything worse than being confined to a specific place for three and a half, four hours
and having a stomach bug and not being to go anywhere?
Is there anything worse?
Or was it as bad as we imagine it?
It was really bad under caution.
Oh, really?
Because then you're just rolling around and, like, you have to save fuel and do all that and shut the car off.
And it's really not much fun.
So under green, it wasn't bad.
The end of long green runs kind of would start getting to me.
I was just really drained, you know, like really everything felt terrible.
super cramped up, just not feeling good.
So I'm really thankful that I kept everything that was in my stomach down.
Oh, you did?
So you didn't vomit at all.
No, it got really close, but I was able to keep it down, fortunately.
But just made for a little bit of a long day,
especially with me being dumb and wrecking the car about 85 laps in
and having to come back from that.
Made for a long day, but really proud of our nationwide team.
Everybody at Hendrick Motorsports did a really good job.
We had a great race car, all race, and especially there at the end.
Just kind of got putting a hole there by myself.
It's my fault, and just glad we were covered from it.
Came back from two laps down.
It's pretty impressive.
The hard way.
The hard way, right.
You passed the leader.
Yeah, we got one lap back the hard way.
We were fastest car on the racetrack in the middle part of the race
and past the whole field and the leader to get one lap back.
and probably made a bunch of people mad because they're like,
you're two laps down, why are you racing us?
I'm like, I'm getting my laps back.
So did that, and then pit strategy got us the second one,
and then definitely had something for them.
But since I put us in that hole, we were down a set of tires,
and that last pit stop and everybody pitted, we didn't have any tires left.
Had you not been two laps down, had you not got in the hole,
would you have considered possibly getting out of the car as bad as you felt?
No, I think it'd take a lot for me to get out of a car that's that good.
You know, it definitely crossed my mind in the morning.
But once I got feeling a little better and got in the car,
you weren't going to get me out of it.
There you go.
That's my man, Alex, the show in Bowman right there.
Did you know that Dale was taking pictures of you in there?
Yeah.
In the care center, just so you know.
So if you go into Dale Jr. social media, he tweeted a picture of Alex who hooked up to IVs.
And I'm telling you, I mean, this is what happens when you get dehydrated.
You go to the care center.
You get IVs of fluids.
Yeah, he took a picture, and he's like, I'm not supposed to post this.
Oh, so he knew.
Yeah, but I'm going to post it anyway.
It's too good not to post.
Thank you, Dale.
So I think then about three people came in and yelled at him for posting that picture.
Two from NASCAR, one from Hendrick Motorsports.
And then we laughed about it a bunch and went on from there.
I didn't get any royalties from the picture.
I didn't work a good enough deal.
My negotiating skills were not very good at that point.
Maybe Sam Bass will do a painting one day and it'll be on the cover of the Kansas program next year.
Yeah, that'd be a good one for sure.
Well, I tell you what, we were real proud of you.
Top 10.
You got seventh place finish, man.
You wield the heck out of it.
Your qualifying's been awesome.
They found speed.
And the fact that you did this while fighting the stomach bug, I mean, I tell you what
It's pretty impressive, and I appreciate you stopping by here to give us the update.
Yeah, thank you.
I really appreciate it.
It was a lot of fun, and hopefully we can go to Talladega, stay not sick, and get a W up there.
Go get them, buddy.
Thanks.
Carrie Earnhardt here.
Tune in this Friday to Earnhardt Outdoors as Hank Parker Jr. and I cover everything from the great outdoors to the activities that strengthen the bonds and families and friendships.
That's Unhard Outdoors right here on Dirty Mo Radio.
Time now for White Flag.
White flag right there, white flag.
All right.
Well, guess what Dale and I did Friday, just so you know, Taylor.
Guess.
Just take a guess.
Played basketball.
Nope.
Guess again?
Drink beer.
Nope, guess again.
Played golf.
All right, you're not going to get it.
We had dinner with William Sturgle and Jim Euse of Exaltah.
Was that your fourth guest?
No, it was not.
I was going to say you went to Whiskey River in the airport.
No, we actually had dinner.
It was very lovely dinner Friday night.
These are the gentlemen who make Dirty Bowl Radio and all of Dale Jr.'s digital platforms
possible, which is why we broke bread with them.

Moving on here, it's a busy week for Dale Jr. He is in the Chevrolet simulator today.
He started like that thing.
I wonder if you could race.
That's like the third time I've heard
mentioned it in the last week
Yeah
I've been working on the simulator
Yeah I think he likes it
It's like a glorified eye racing maybe
I mean because you know he sort of got away
From the old internet racing
Once he matured and grew up
And acted like an adult
So now he's maybe back to being a kid
But he would never know T.J.
If he didn't do that so
Right which again he had to mature to
Anyways
Are you trying to consider that
Oh no, my go ahead
So tomorrow he's going to be spending a good bit of time
At Hendrick Motorsports
Helping the teams recap Kansas
And prepare for Taladay
On Wednesday, he'll be in Greensboro, North Carolina, appearing at Jeansboro Day.
Oh, cool.
That's the big event for Wrangler, which is the Jeansboro Day.
I like that.
That's a player.
On Friday, he'll head to...
Ooh.
Tried out.
Get you some of that, Taylor.
You going to?
No, I'm not, actually.
Tide in the Aggies and a little Talladega?
No?
No, I'm not going.
I got a big t-ball game I got to get ready for
There you go
Is he going to the game on Saturday?
Lord no
No
When he gets there
He'll be heading to a local school
To read books with kids
As part of a Unilever program
Then he has production shoots
Interviews and Mountain Dew appearance
At the Talladega Hall of Fame on Saturday
An appearance at the team Chevy stage on Sunday
If you didn't know any better
You'd almost think he's racing
Hmm
I'm kidding I'm totally kidding
He's not in the race
And the one way you'll know that he's not in the race is because he will actually be in the NBC booth and the MRN booth during the Talladega race.
Very cool.
At the same time.
Theater of the mind.
How does he do it?
I don't know.
I've been on multiple places at the same time before, so it actually won't be at the same time.
It won't be at the same time.
But he will be in both of the booth.
So whether you're listening on the radio or catching it on TV, you'll get a little Dale Jr.
at the Talladega race.
He's making the rounds.
That's good.
Yeah.
Lastly, don't forget the holidays are fast approaching.
Come to Junior Nation retail store for your Dirty Moe Radio Delia merchandise.
Maybe we need to start making it.
Dale on.
Dale on.
Keep calm and Dale on.
You'll also find the Delia Collection on NASCAR.com Super Store.
Just go to Dale Earnhardt Jr.
tab and seek out the Dale Yeah collection.
It's all right there.
I check this morning.
There you go.
All right, man.
Degu this weekend.
We'll enjoy that.
And by this time, next time.
week we will know if Mike Davis's Chicago Cubs are in the World Series for the first time in 68 years or not.
You're pretty nervous?
You know, I'm, well, no, yeah, yeah.
I am nervous.
But, like, I did not expect him to win against Kerchall.
So, like, so far, everything has happened kind of how I predicted.
Now, if they could take two out of three in L.A., which would be very difficult, you know, then I'll really be feeling good.
tied and the Aggies also this weekend.
So it's a big weekend for you.
That's a big game.
I know.
All right.
So it should be fun to watch the race on Sunday and see who makes it through to the other side.
For Davis Williams, for Mike Davis, for Ralph Dale, Jeremiah Earnhardt Jr.
From Taylor Zarzer, you've been listening to the Dale Jr. download presented by Spy.
Thanks for listening to Dirty Mo Radio.
