This is Dale Jr., and you're listening to Dirty Mo Radio.
Good job, y'all.
You all did a great job on the car.
Great adjustment.
Awesome.
Pinstops.
Y'all did awesome.
Y'all carried me at one of our worst tracks.
I appreciate it.
It is the Dale Jr.
Download with Amanda Troutman, Mike Hogue, and Mike Davis.

Pretty good Saturday night, Mike Davis.
as he said, more and worse tracks,
especially after what happened in Texas.
This team is certainly built of something very strong in 2014.
Yeah, career best finish for Dale Jr. at Darlington.
He finished fourth on two separate occasions.
Most recently 2008, which is, you know, an eternity ago.
So, yeah, absolutely wonderful race for him.
Almost won it.
Could have won it.
It was right there at the end.
So we'll take second at Darlington.
Absolutely.
And, I mean, listen, I mean, the best car won.
I mean, Harvick was in his own lane all night.
on Saturday night, but right there competing for a win in Darlington, Mike, just says how
focused this team is.
You know, you're going to go through ruts during every season.
I don't care who you are, but a lot of times those ruts, after you've had a bad race
or something terrible has happened or, you know, fluky or freaky happens, the thing you
worry about is it carrying over.
The great thing I think is it didn't, and you made a great point last week on this
podcast.
You said, I think the best thing.
about that Texas race is we're testing
today. We're moving on. We're testing.
It's over with. It's in
our rearview mirror. It's not in our thoughts
anymore. And I thought that was very obvious
in Darlington. Yeah, and Hogue, you were with
Jr. up there in Michigan.
Did you sense that that was a, you know,
something that was a positive to be back in the
race car? I mean, because I felt like
him getting back in the race car, he alluded to it.
I don't know if it was on Twitter or somewhere.
Or no, maybe it was in his media.
In his media, he even said the exact same
thing. I mean, I think everybody sensed it's good things back in the
He said he's like the best thing I could have done that week was get back in good test and be with the team.
So yeah, I thought that this was going to be a big test.
See how they were able to respond and I thought they responded quite well.
They were top three car all night.
You know, Harvick was clearly the class of the field.
I'm not sure.
I can't decide if we were better than Gordon.
Gordon passed us, but like he could never get away from us.
So they were pretty dang equal to be honest with you.
Yeah, no, I mean, right there after Harvick, there's no question about.
about it and thought he certainly deserved his finish there on Saturday night.
Let's see what Junior has to say about that second place finished down there in Darlington.
Well, Hill, we came so close right there.
You know, it feels good to run second at Darlington.
It sucks being that close to winning.
But, you know, it's not one of our – not one of my favorite tracks.
I enjoy racing there and it's fun.
Man, it's really hard.
It's a real challenge.
But to come out of there with a good finish going into an off weekend.
That's pretty cool to be able to come off a good finish and be able to enjoy a good off weekend like Easter.
Looking forward to that.
But anyways, about the race, we were about a third, fourth place car all night.
Pretty pleased with the way the car drove.
I hadn't been, I hadn't had that good a car there in a long, long time.
I don't think I've ever had a car that good, but had Darlington come into that last pit stop.
we had TJ up on the top of the track.
Sorry, my dog was a barking.
We had DJ up on top of the track, basically watching for people on Pit Road to see if they were taking four or two.
And he said that Jimmy was taken two, the 48.
So Steve misheard him, thought he said four.
Steve said, all right, we're taking four.
And as I got about one stall away from my pit, I said, Steve, no, they're taking two.
They're taking two.
And he said, all right, we're taking two.
So the team had to really switch what they were doing at the last minute.
We had a great stop where we'd get out second with Jimmy.
Jimmy hadn't been up toward the front to restart many times throughout the night,
so he didn't know about the outside groove, having a bit tougher time getting traction.
So I knew starting on the inside I had a great shot to beat him to the corner because of his wheel spin,
which we were able to do, and we got a little shut by the four cars as well.
But they were side by side behind me.
I saw them off a turn two side by side, and then I just started focusing on.
when I was doing coming to the white and the caution come out.
So that was kind of unfortunate.
Everybody thinks we might have been able to win.
I don't know if the four would have got to us or not,
but he was pretty fast.
He had the best car and new tires.
And then on the next restart, having the four up there beside us
was going to make it difficult.
I don't know how we were able to get to the corner and beat him,
but we were.
And he just had so much more grip than we did
with our tires on the left side being so old.
He was able to motor on by us.
It's a bit frustrating to get past
at the end of the race like that.
But you've got to be, you know,
got to be happy with the performance that we're having,
so we'll just move on and try to win the next one.
Definitely, this is definitely as good as this team's ever been.
And the guys are working really hard,
and I know we say that all the time,
but they are really giving it their all,
and they really are buying in and believing in this team,
and it's so fun to see, so fun to be a part of it.
I've never been a part of anything like this before
where everybody's attitudes,
We're so focused on the same thing.
It's really impressive.
So I'm enjoying it.
That's why maybe everybody says on Twitter that they're seeing me as a more relaxed person
or having a lot of fun this year or whatever.
It's just a group I'm with, man.
They're rubbing off on me and making this a lot of, making this really fun.
So, you know, when a driver normally goes to a track that he says,
hey, this is not my best track, that's hard to hear.
And that's hard for the guys to really get motivated.
But my boys, man, they buckle down and try harder.
when they, you know, we all carry each other at some point,
and they had to carry me this weekend.
And we worked, I drove hard and tried to drive a good race,
and I think I did, but that's not my best track.
And instead of really backing off and just trying to cruise through the weekend,
they dug down and found more to be able to give me the best car I've ever had there
and to be able to have the best result I've ever had there tonight.
So that says a lot about their character.
So I'm just fortunate to be able to hang out with them.
Hope you guys enjoy this episode of Dirty Moe Radio.
I'm out of town, so I won't be in studio.
I plan on getting in studio a lot more often because I really enjoy it,
especially now we've got that room, so that would be pretty cool.
I'll see you guys on the flip side.
Take it easy.
Have heaster.
I'll tell you what, man.
That's some good stuff.
That makes my hair stand up listening to how fired up he is about this team and about this season.
There's so many things that we ought to unpack out of that.
One quote.
First of all, Hogue, was the helicopter landing on you guys when he started recording?
What was going on there?
As soon as we landed, we jumped in the house instead of recording, and then it was, you can hear it taking it out.
And then he hit the piano.
He could hear that.
Oh, that was Junior?
Yeah.
Okay.
And then it was the dog.
And me and TJ were in the other room trying to be quiet.
We're like two little kids just trying to just shh.
That's funny.
That's funny.
Well, you know, he spoke a lot about the two-tire, four-tire call.
I think we ought to really talk about it because I was amazed when it happened.
That was our entire race right there.
Junior was running in the top five that whole race, but it was still kind of, you know, kind of dragging along.
And then that last caution, that last pit stop, I thought you've got to for sure take four tires.
After what I saw Chase Elliott do the night before, who had four tires and came from six to first and two laps.
I'm like, four tires is the easy call here.
And LaTart says four tires.
And Junior says, what?
What?
You know, what?
And wow.
Listen, when I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong, I was wrong.
I was wrong.
The two tires was the call.
But wow, that whole transition on the two tires, four tires thing was amazing.
It really was.
In fact, we should hear it.
Let's do it.
Yeah, Amanda, let's play that pit stop there.
That 48, he's still about 10 away right here.
He's about 10 away here.
He'll be starting pulling left here.
4,600.
Steve, I'll let you know we're behind the 4 car here coming to you.
Looks like he's getting 4 so far.
four tires we are five four three two one four tires four tires he took two Steve two all right
two and we're leaving two and we're leaving drop it on these right everybody clear all right go
48's coming 38's coming side 46 46 46 to the line there you go blend off of two
all right I'm with you I'll give it a shot I was just thinking that was our best shot I think we're pretty
shade, buddy. The four is the first car in four, but then there's like three more behind him
on right. So really the only guy coming on four is going to be the four, and he's going to be
a couple three rows back, or at least two rows back. Whatever happens, I like that you called
that, because my heart was leaning that way, but I think this is the right decision regardless.
You've run a good race, man. This is our best chance to win it.
Hey, good jumping crew. That's the way to switch in been there. Way to do it.
That was amazing. I mean, and really, that's interesting because I did not catch that as it was
happening live what TJ said.
So hats off to TJ majors for catching what the 48 did, taking two there.
And obviously, Steve didn't catch it either, hearing TJ in his headset.
And then a junior give him credit.
He took two, Steve.
And man, Mike O got that happening so quickly.
I mean, it's amazing that a pit crew can change from doing four tires, being ready to
rotate over to the left side.
And in the middle of moving over to the left side, not put those other two tires,
get out of there and get in second place on that restart.
Yeah, just in that audio, you can hear the air inches going,
and he switches on them.
So still, I mean, like you said,
give those guys credit right in the middle to change that fast.
Like, I'm sure that's happened before in the history of NASCAR,
but I've never heard of it.
I have never heard a driver call and make a change in pit strategy during the pit stop.
I haven't either.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, if you haven't, then Lord knows I haven't.
I mean, that is.
It was remarkable, and it just goes to show what Junior's talking about,
why you should be so pumped about being part of this team.
I mean, it's just amazing how they're all on the same page.
There's no ego.
Everybody understands their role to the team.
They all do a great job with it.
And that's why they're in the position that they're in right now through this,
I guess you could call it a quartermark of the season with a week off before they go racing again.
So, all right, we got to get here to reaction theater.
Before we do that, I do want to tell you that we encourage you to go online and check out spies' products.
Their new happy lens is sure to enhance.
your race experience.
To learn more about the happy lens and shop Dale Jr.'s
signature Spy88 collection, go to spyoptic.com.
Amanda, let's hear what they have to say this week on Reaction Theater.
Three things to start off with.
One, I am the biggest Dale Jr. fan in the world.
Two, congratulations to our boy, Dale Jr.
On a second-place finish, could have done better, but we had two instead of four.
Dale, yeah, and Chase Elliott for the win.
And three, ever since Mike Hogue has been happy.
I've heard that song everywhere, so can we get Hogue to not sing anymore?
Yes.
You're welcome.
To answer your question, yes.
We can get him to not sing anymore.
You've done, Hove?
That song puts you in a positive mood for the entire day, so you're welcome.
It makes me pretty, I mean, I have to say, I mean, it's one of the highlights of the podcast.
I, you know, I'm not trying to say that Hogue should go pro or anything.
I'm not singing anymore.
I've not singing anymore.
I've learned, I haven't got to talk to you from now.
We're not singing on this thing anymore.
Ten more.
Nice.
We were laughing about it pre-race before the Nationide race in Texas,
but I'm not surprised he said that.
All right, let's go to the next one.
Hey, at least we didn't wind up in a freaking wienie roast like we did last week.
I'll take second at the Lady in Black over a blazing inferno 15 laps in any day.
Hell yeah.
No, it's a little bit better, yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
No, it's a little bit better than being on fire.
Yes.
How about that little tidbit from this race where the two-tenths,
teams that finished 43rd and 42nd last week,
finished first and second this week.
That's pretty cool.
Yeah, that is pretty cool.
All right, next.
Great job, June Bug on racing the track and not the drivers.
And that two-tire call in the pits by Dale Jr.
showed a lot of testicular fortitude.
That's what I'm talking about.
Congrats to Chase Elliott, winning in Darlington,
second race in a row, skip the prom.
Yeah, he might not.
He might have got laid at the prom,
but I'm sure that's a little.
get him a lot more tail than any palm ever would.
Did we mean to leave that one in there?
It was funny.
Oh, my gosh.
It was funny.
I like that Amanda put it in there.
That is some funny stuff right there.
Was that Kip?
I hope not.
Oh, my goodness.
I got to tell you, Chase is in his own lane, guys.
Oh, that kid.
You guys having the beer toasts each week, I know it's a lot of fun.
But, yeah.
Man, he is in his own lane.
I mean, I don't think people understand how amazing it is to win at Darlington the first time you've ever raced there.
Or ever.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If Chase keeps winning, we're going to be drunk over here, by the way.
I mean, you know, people are talking about Jordan Spief and Second at Augusta.
You've never seen the place before.
It was great.
Chase Elliott at Darlington is a thousand times harder than that.
Yeah, man, that kid is something.
I tell you what.
And, man, you know, I was telling somebody this.
I think it was Mike Reardon at Napa.
I was saying, you know, for the first time,
usually when these nationwide races happened,
you know, last year especially,
and Kyle Bush was leading,
you're like, well, this is, we know how this ends.
You know, Kyle Bush is going to win another race.
He's got 60 plus wins in this thing.
But now you don't get that feeling.
You get like, if Chase is in contention,
I mean, it's bad news for Kyle Bush.
It's not a shoe in victory.
You know, he's got a challenger.
And I'm telling you, man,
I don't want Chase Elliott on my bumper at the end of the race.
Yeah, that's awesome stuff.
It's been really fun to see.
What else we got?
Hey, TJ, apparently, uh, sleep with tart,
you've got a couple of engineers that can tell them if he needs to save fuel or not.
So it's okay, buddy, run back to the bathroom, get it out of your system,
and get back on the spotter stand because, hey, you can only run down there where it's a caution.
When it's green flag, what are you doing?
Like, run to a port of John and hold it a mirror out trying to spot out your left eye.
I mean, you really do get kind of quiet on the radio when you do that.
Yeah, outside, outside.
And then when you're actually up there, when you're on a bathroom break, outside, outside, clear?
Clear?
Well, okay, so I guess we need a little context here.
I forgot about the, yeah.
What happened, Dale?
Kind of live up.
Yeah, it was Martinsville, right?
No, no, no.
Well, the bathroom thing was Martin'sville?
No, no, no, no.
This was, it was under caution.
Mid-race, I think.
Yeah, and TJ comes on radio to Steve and says,
hey, man, do we need to start being in the fuel save mode?
I think before Steve could even answer it.
Hey, TJ, we've got two engineers on top of the box that are good for that information.
Don't worry about it.
Yeah.
And it got quiet.
And TJ got quiet.
And you know that if Junior has even a little bit of a snarky response to TJ,
Tim Brock is dialing the reaction number.
That's true.
That teased him up.
I tell you what have really been cool is if TJ saw the 48 taking two tires.
from the bathroom. Now, that would be pretty cool.
But T.J. has taken a lot of grief each week from Tim Brock.
All right, what we have next?
What's up there to more cool?
Is anyone concerned that Stuart Hawth has beating us three times in our own shit?
Somebody is not putting everything in the book.
I don't know. Mr. H. may need to renegotiate this seek-and-seek thing.
Well, let's also talk about how this other Stuart Haas cars didn't exactly have a great day.
Yeah, I think there's more than just the engine, especially at Darlington.
I think it's that team.
He's Rodney Chilers and Kevin Harvick.
Yeah, we need to, we need to, and I love her.
She's a great reaction theater caller.
But we need to make a slight adjustment there.
Tony Stewart has struggled this year.
Danica, maybe a little bit of improvement.
Kurt Busch does have a win, but other than that, he's struggled.
Harvick is the one, if you want to say that needs to renegotiate.
He's the one that's been in his own lane so far.
Yeah, that's true.
But hey, good stuff from them for sure.
All right, what do we have next?
the 88 bout had the win, and then Boyer decided to drive up Kurt Busch's ass and bring out caution.
And the outlaw in his stare, he ain't doing nothing to Boyer, because Patricia's got his ass on a leash,
and she's too busy dragging him around to find a camera to be in front of.
Good job to the 88, really proud of the team.
Congrats to Harvick. Hell, I ain't going to lie. I was pulling for us or Harvick.
Anybody but the damn 48.
Oh, goodness. Wow.
So many pot shots in that thing.
I mean, Jimmy just can't ever win, man.
No.
Yeah, how did Jimmy get into that?
Jimmy gets his windshield bashed by us, and he's got debris, you know, going under seven cautions a week before, but he still can't win.
Well, listen, I know people are upset that Boyer wrecked Kurt Bush to cause that caution,
but I don't know that I could ever have a problem with that.
No.
It's a fluky deal.
Yeah, it just happens.
Dracing.
No, I'm saying, I don't think I have a problem with Kurt Busch getting wrong.
Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah, I understand. Yes.
Yeah, I said it.
I love it. I love it. I love it. You said it. Who's next?
Steve Littar, if you have not realized yet,
but it is your destiny to be Dale Arnard Jr.'s crew chief right now.
And there's something like three second-plate finishes and a win at Daytona this year,
and you're going to leave.
It's like showing up to the greatest party in the world and leaving at 9 o'clock.
There is something to need you.
You got to sign it a little bit like Hogue.
Hogue was that you calling in?
Was that you, Hogue?
What do you mean, Taylor?
Yeah.
Well, whoever it was or right.
He sounds awesome.
Yeah.
Lartre is, I don't even want to think about that yet, you know.
I mean, he's, this thing, things are going so great.
I don't even want to think about him not being involved.
But, hey, we'll get through this year and see what happens.
Daddo 15.
Datto 2015.
That would be entertaining if nothing else.
All right.
What else we got?
God bless it.
It wasn't for Boyer.
Ben and Kurt on the backstretch, Junior had that one.
Boyer's ADD must have been kicking in or something.
He was probably thinking about kites.
And who knows what he was thinking about when Kurt tried to stare at him.
Hell yeah.
Oh, my goodness.
Yeah.
But I'm thinking about kites.
That's funny.
It is.
Was there anything post-raced between them?
because somebody said they saw Boyer run to Kurt Busch's hauler.
I never heard anything else after that.
I would have to see that.
I thought I would too.
I don't know.
Anything else you want to say about the 41, Mike?
Sidebar.
Sorry, I got sight.
ADD.
We're talking about ADD.
That's what happened.
Yeah, look, there's not a lot of drivers that I just don't particularly care for, but he's
dang.
I gather that in the last five minutes.
I don't know how anybody could blame him.
I mean, he's made his own bed.
No, listen, my thing goes back to 2003.
Yeah, when I was Spencer, be better by other stuff.
Listen, I had a front row seat for the boxing match that happened in the Michigan garage.
I love it.
I love that was 11 years ago.
You're still fired out about that.
That's great.
Still wants a shot.
Yeah, that's awesome.
Next.
Just finished the week, and first I want to thank God.
I don't know, but it all started kind of odd.
No online orders, so I skipped a little work.
The JRN for my daily a T-shirt.
Next stop, I rolled on down to the seven.
7-11.
Yeah, 7-11.
Down a couple of Dale Jr. Salad Crates.
Uh-huh.
The futures now.
I see a lot of drivers in trouble.
That Napa's car got the placards scored to double.
I even saw the lights of the good gear blimp.
And it read little Elvis is a pimp.
Drunk is hell when I was watching Cuff.
Lady in Black gave us a stellar runner's up.
Today we didn't even have to bitch T.J.
I gotta say it was a good day.
Hey, keep it up, guys.
Wow.
Where was the shoe?
He is looking for a deal.
Love it.
I love it.
That is what I'm talking about.
Somebody that comes on reaction theater and raps, baby.
They rap.
I wonder if Ice Cube was watching on Saturday night.
What do you think, Amanda?
That was him.
Yeah.
That was, oh, okay.
That was Ice Cube.
Yeah.
Listen, I, Cours lights.
Kudos to that.
Kudos.
That was good.
That's a Hall of Famer right there.
That's a Hall of Fame.
You know what?
We're not giving out spy sunglasses this week, but if we were, he would win.
That's my God about it.
It's kind of crazy.
Seven, eleven, where I get my jail, Junior Greek.
Sour.
It's pretty crazy how much the Elvis thing took off from the media center.
Like, that came from Dale.
Junior's saying, calling Chase's little Elvis.
He sent it to me last.
night. He's like, they look identical.
I've realized that later, Junior sends a text last night. It's a side-by-side of Chase Elliott
Elvis, and he goes, you need to have some fun with this.
I'm like, okay.
Well, don't you worry.
I'm sure that we will.

So make sure that you listen for that.
It's time to throw the white flag.
Not much going on this week.
Dale Jr. is getting away for a few days to recharge.
So this is a perfect time for you and I to have a heart to heart.
Oh.
Amanda, let's find that song.
That's a little bit more serious.
Oh.
Do we need it?
Yeah, okay.
We've got it in our files.
Okay.
Let me grab it.
All right.
Okay.
Okay.
No, no, let's see.
Money.
Okay.
Friends, there's a girl.
growing epidemic in this country.
And that is un-unhappy people.
The sun in their eyes.
Oh, yeah.
You might even be one of those people.
And if you're not, watch yourself.
Because you're damn sure going to be.
Oh, you probably are and you just don't know it.
Truth.
My name is truth.
Well, I've got good news.

That's right.
You'll turn somebody off if they're not happy.
Okay, can we go back to the regular music now, Amanda?
All right.
There is no racing this weekend for anybody as both nationwide and Spring Cup has the open weekend.
So take this opportunity to spend time with your family, reconnect with your spouse, get out of the house.
Yeah.
Maybe mow the grass.
Do that.
Accomplish something.
Anything.
Damn it.
Do something with your life.
That's all I'm.
All right.
The motivation speech there.
Good stuff, man.
Wow.
We got it.
Okay.
White flag with Hogue is something else.
I got to tell you.
We're coming around, man.
We're coming around.
What if we just call White Flagg deep thoughts with Mike Hogue?
It sounded like the OSNL.
Yeah.
We're Mike Hogue, Jack Handy, Mike Davis, Amanda Troutman, Dale Jr., and everybody else.
Happy Easter from us here at the Dale Jr.
