Starting point is 00:00:01 This is Dale Jr. And you're listening to Dirty Moe Radio. Yeah, I've been driving a damn dump truck for two weeks, man. I don't know what's going on, but it's frustrating because even when we get a car freed up and two loose, it's still pushing. It is the Dale Jr. download. I am Taylor Zarser with Mike Hogue and Mike Davis, as well as Amanda Troutman here on the program. Driving a dump truck, huh? Who ever said a dump truck is bad to drive?
Starting point is 00:00:32 I don't understand. Have you driven a dump truck ever in your life? He wants. did. Yeah. Was it a bad drive? I thought it was pretty cool. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:39 I'm like, I can't imagine the dump truck. He says I'm driving a dump truck. I'm like, right on. Well, in fairness to Dale Jr. I've never wanted to drive a dump truck in the middle of a race of a stock car race. But nevertheless, this is the Dale Jr. download presented by a spy. Go to spy optic.com now and check out their exclusive offer for Derrimo radio listeners.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Take 20% off your purchase of any Dale Jr. signature 88 collections. sunglasses just by entering code Dale yeah. Dale yeah. And check out. Speaking of Dale, yeah. I'm sorry. I can't get very deep into the show without mentioning this. Our boy Taylor Zarzer on his weekend gig is the PA announcer at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Starting point is 00:01:20 Last week on the download, I said, I'd give you $100 if you said, Dale yeah on the PA system. You got some money for me? My gosh, if he didn't do it. I heard it. He did it. I said it twice. I did it Friday and Saturday. Tell us the story.
Starting point is 00:01:32 How did you work it in? Well, Hogue probably remembers us on Friday. I think we're just talking about Dale Jr., talking about all kinds of different stuff. And Ozzie, the guy that always does the PA. He's the main PA guy. I was just the sidekick. Let's get that straight first of all. He just says, hey, now tell me again what all the people are saying in Junior Nation these days.
Starting point is 00:01:53 And I said, Dale, yeah. So Hogue heard it because I guess he's down there in the infield somewhere. Yeah, we have outside the hauler. It's very subtle. you just knock it in there. Yes, you did it. So Hoag tweeted about it, and so people got fired up because, you know, Hogue was tweeting about it.
Starting point is 00:02:08 And so I was laughing, and everybody up there was following Hogue and saying, all right, man, people are talking about you saying, Dale, yeah. You got to bring it back tomorrow. I was like, all right, well, if I find a way to do it, I'll bring it in on Saturday. It's got to feel natural. Yeah, so I kept thinking of how am I going to do this? And then Justin, the guy that runs the whole deal out there with the PA, he said, fire up all the fans.
Starting point is 00:02:31 talk about all the drivers, fire up all the fans. So I said, if y'all want to see Rowdy Bush win this All-Star race, you know, start cheering or something like that. And everybody there, of course, starts booing. And I say, if y'all want to see Jeff Gordon win for a third straight year, didn't go over so well. If y'all are Jimmy Johnson, rather, win for a third straight year. Yeah, it didn't work out.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Jeff Gordon went for the first time of 13 years. How about Happy Harvick? Okay, all right. How about Tony Smoke Stewart? Yeah, okay. All right. And then I said, if anybody out there wants to say, see Dale Arr Jr. win this race.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Give me a Dale, yeah. A stone cold Steve Austin kind of deal. A place just goes insane. T.J. said he had his headphones on, his spotting headphones, which I'm telling you, those things are ear muffs now. Nothing gets through those bad boys. And he said that he could hear the crowd react to that through his earphones. Oh, my phone exploded.
Starting point is 00:03:22 That's awesome. Yeah, it was pretty cool. So we'll have to bring that back. I don't know that they need to ask me to ever do the PA again. But if that happens, again, we'll have to try to pull it off. I love the All-Star race, first of all. Congrats to Jamie Mack on winning it. I know a friend of juniors and a friend of Junior Motorsports and J.R.M. 360.
Starting point is 00:03:42 Yeah. We've seen him on there before. What a great guy, first of all. I mean, I don't know that that guy has any enemies. I mean, it's so good for him to win that thing. He's won so many different races. And I know Junior was fired up for him. but Junior's battle in a dump truck, as he said, until that last 10 laps,
Starting point is 00:04:01 and then he started coming on there. And I think they found something for the 600. You know, I watched that race from the grandstands. It was the first time that I could think of since I was in college that I watched a NASCAR race from the grandstands. And I enjoyed it, and I'm telling you something. You know, a lot of people may harp on the fact that Jamie McMurray ran away with it at the end. But those first two laps of that final segment. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Some of the best racing that I've seen. And kudos to Jamie Mack because he admitted it in Victory Lane. you know, interview that if it was a points race, he would have let off, but it's a million dollars on the line. So he stayed in the gas on the outside, and he made it work.
Starting point is 00:04:35 And I mean, I couldn't believe that they didn't wreck. I thought for sure they were about to wreck. With Edwards. Yeah, both of them, Edwards and McMurray. So kudos to him. I was proud of him.
Starting point is 00:04:45 It was a good race. It's a good race. It's funny you say that, because afterwards Edwards comes up to Jamie Mack and congratulated he said, I was trying to wreck you. And Mac was like, I was trying to wreck you.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Yeah, and you can see the disappointment in Carl Edwards' face. I mean, he really wanted that, too. So at least there was some emotion. There was good racing for the prize. That's all you can really ask for. Absolutely. And it was, you know, I know they always need to,
Starting point is 00:05:06 they always tinker with the format. And Hogue, I think they still need to do that. I think it'd be good to maybe have maybe three segments or something like that. I think five segments is a little much. It was too much. I think it could be like a 50, 25, 10. Yeah. I like the last being 10, but the four.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Yeah. I agree with that. I think it needs to be something like that. I think it needs to be at Bristol. Now, listen, I'm all about it. And then that breaks is all your segment problems. They asked Dale in media, and he said that. He said Bristol?
Starting point is 00:05:33 Yeah. Okay, then I need it to be at Richmond. I don't want to copy it. I thought that's where you got it from. I don't want to be that guy. Well, chances are I would think that Bruton would like to hold on to it. So I would think of maybe around some of his places. So Bristol would seem realistic.
Starting point is 00:05:51 And who knows? Maybe Vegas, you know, every once in a while. I think that if they moved it around, I think that that would pump some life into it. One of the coolest things I think they do at the Allstate is qualifying. Yeah, I thought that was great. And I tell you, it was crazy watching that. And these guys that have never experienced flying down pit road before, having no way, shape, or form where they're going to hit their mark.
Starting point is 00:06:13 Junior maybe did the best job. I think he saw the first two in front of them. Just go flying through. Did you see? David Reagan, our boy, David Reagan, ended up like in Salisbury. Had to back her up. Hamlin missed the body. He said, I'm not even going to try to back up.
Starting point is 00:06:29 He said, just forget it. Just put me at the end of the line and we'll go. But that was pretty funny. I did like what they did with qualifying. Let's hear what Junior has to say about what happened on Saturday night. Here he is. Hey, everybody. Just got home from Charlotte North Speedway and the All-Star Race.
Starting point is 00:06:45 Congratulations to Jamie Mack and his whole team. They had a fast car and had good strategy. We worked on our car all night and made it better. We had it running pretty good in that last segment, but we followed a real, real loose on entry and late exit, real, real tight through the middle, the first two segments. And Steve and the guys that were tuning on a little bit. By the end of the deal, they had it pretty good.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Pretty uneventful. Saw a lot of guys get in trouble and have some torque cars at the end, but you've got to take everything you can out there. I don't know, we learn some stuff, and that's important because we got a long race next week, and we need to make sure we go. everything lined up. We won't be taking this car. This car was the car we won Michigan with in 2012, so it's pretty old compared to, you know, cup car's age. But we've got a brand new car, I think,
Starting point is 00:07:33 for next week. So that's exciting. Hopefully it drives a little different, does things a little better. Steve told me that they're going to work hard all week to try to come back with a little bit better front grip package. And, you know, we're just going to have fun Sunday, hanging out at the house, barbecuing a little bit, and then we've got to work all week. Carson's got a big race this Wednesday, so we might check that out. Otherwise, got a pretty busy week. Charlotte Week's always probably one of the busiest of the season,
Starting point is 00:08:04 so we'll be running all over the place. Y'all take it easy. All right, there you go, junior talking about that on. So that was the Batmobile. That was the Batman car. That was the Batmobile that he checked out in Michigan in 2012. That's what he told me how was his secret sauce. And now this is.
Starting point is 00:08:21 the Superman, I'm sure we got some catchy name for Sunday, right? Yep, yep, yep. I think it's going to be the National Guard, Superman, Chevrolet. Am I supposed to wait until white flag to say that? I didn't want to steal your thunder. No, no. Okay. Let me see.
Starting point is 00:08:36 It's the number 88, National Guard, Superman, Chevrolet, SS. Well done. Yeah. I think. I like how you to focus on Amanda when you said that. Like, just like it focus clearly to think about all that. Well, you know, it's like any time you talk, then you look at the person that's going to tell you whether you were wrong or
Starting point is 00:08:54 right or if we have to re-record. And that's why we always look at Amanda for that. She gives you the thumbs up and the thumbs down and then we proceed. The 600 coming up on Sunday is certainly one of the biggest races of the year. I'd consider it a major, if you will, if you know, you want to compare it to golf or tennis or whatever. I think it's one of the biggest races of the entire year. And each time always ask Junior about, you know, places that, you know, races he's never won
Starting point is 00:09:19 that he wants to win. Martin'sville always comes to mind because he's had a great record there. But he always talks about this race. He always says how badly he wants to get this done, obviously, a couple years ago. That's what I'm thinking about. The whole time you're talking is a couple years ago. I'm still waiting for redemption. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:36 And I think that that's how most junior fans, we had that thing won. Yeah. I know gas is important. I get that. I know you need enough to get to the finish line. I understand. I still felt like that was ours. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:48 And when Harvick was in the Speedway Club afterwards, putting on that jacket or whatever, I just couldn't believe that was happening. And the YouTube videos of Junior Nation that followed after that were pretty funny. But, yeah, three years ago was as close as it gets. But, you know, I tell you, I think that if they can get some front grip, I think he's got a real shot to get it done. He's got a shot every week. I tell you what, this team, they haven't dropped off at all.
Starting point is 00:10:15 They're still very competitive. If he's driving a dump truck to fourth, yeah. You know, wait to that truck turns out to be an S-10 or at least something that's halfway drivable, and he has a chance to win. By the way, I wanted to tell you something.
Starting point is 00:10:28 You know, when Kevin Harvick was in the studio, we brought that up to him to try to make him sort of have some sympathy towards us, you know, like, like, like, yeah. And he said, hey, what my fault of Steve LaTart's fault? Right, noted. Fair point. Yeah. That should be fun on Sunday.
Starting point is 00:10:44 It's a big weekend for sure. Before we talk about Reaction Theater, we do need to talk about what happened in Iowa on Sunday. How cool was that? Seeing the Dirty Moe Radio car out there? I'm telling you. It's a sharp-looking car. That was a sharp-looking car.
Starting point is 00:11:00 I'm not, maybe I'm a little biased. I'm a lot biased. But that was the best looking cars. I think it was. And ESPN, I devoured the race. I don't know where I was. I was at some softball game, I think. But I came back, I devoured a race, and I watched the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:11:14 I mean, they're going through the field, and all of a sudden they're to the spy optic dirty moe radio number five junior motor sports Chevrolet. And they're showing it for a considerable amount of time. And I'm thinking, is this real life? Like, I mean, Mike Davis brought me to lunch like a year and a half ago and said, I want to start this dirty moe radio podcast. Right. And I see dirty moe radio on the track. And I even probably made you pay for the lunch, too. So it was like it was one of those kind of deals.
Starting point is 00:11:41 But you know, I had that moment as well. And it was the pre-race when they were interviewing Austin Terrio. That's a shout out to Tyler Overstreet. We'll go ahead and pretend like he pitched that interview, but we know he didn't. And he said, you know, this SpyO Optic Dirtymoe radio team. And I'm like, wow, that's cool. That's cool. We've made it, Taylor.
Starting point is 00:12:00 We've made it. We have, man. On Friday when they were practicing in Austin was 18th, I went into Kelly's office as an angry sponsor. And I'm like, I want an explanation on this. Why do we not have more speed? Like an angry sponsor. Yeah. I do want to also mention that this time last year, there was no way in the world we would have made it.
Starting point is 00:12:20 But thanks to Dale Jr. for all that he does. Thanks for Amanda Troutman for bringing a professional operation. Now I think that has a lot to do with the fact that we've made it. Hey, what do you think about the new design of the studio? Pretty awesome. We just put this up last week. We've got basically, you know, a Dirtymo Radio studio would not be right without a big old mirage. Is that what you call it?
Starting point is 00:12:39 Not a mirage. Panorama? I'm not pin around. Without a big old something. Mural. A big old picture of Dirty Moe Acres. I stole Amanda's headset so she can't correct us at this point. But, yeah, no, it's really cool.
Starting point is 00:12:55 You need to come out here to the race shop at Junior Motorsports and check it out. This is a first-class operation. I mean, I'm not getting it. Can't you tell? Yeah. Just listen to us. This is first class. Well, no, not actually what we're putting on the podcast, but everything around us.
Starting point is 00:13:09 Is this a cow rug? It's a cow-rug. The cow rug is nice, the chairs. We had a lava lamp, but it was broke. The lava didn't lava. A lamp with beads on it now. All right, one other thing I want to mention, I don't want to give away future things that you guys are doing this week,
Starting point is 00:13:24 but is there anything that needs to be said about a little competition that's happened? I don't know what you're talking about. I'm glad you mentioned that, Taylor. Okay, Hogue, you don't want to say anything about that? I have my own thoughts on that. It's frustrating. We'll wait. On J.R. 360 this week, we will show the race
Starting point is 00:13:41 that Mike Hogue and T.J. Majors and Stephen had. It happened last Friday morning, and it, yeah, we'll just save it for the video. You can tell by the tone of Mike's voice here. That ought to give you an idea of who didn't win. Okay. All right, well, Hogue, I'm... I need to be part of that show Friday, the 360 one, to explain. Oh, you need to give your side of the story?
Starting point is 00:14:06 No, I'm sure you're part of it. Yeah. Man. There's going to be a lot of trash talk going on. If T.J. Majors is interviewed, is there going to be a lot of... I don't want him in here for it. Wow. Listen, Mike Hogue texted me from the Speedway over the weekend.
Starting point is 00:14:21 And what did you say to me? You said, this is probably the worst day of my life. It was about that. I was just bummed, man, all day. Because you probably kept hearing about it. Yeah. Oh, every way, shape, and form. Because you know how a certain someone is.
Starting point is 00:14:36 I don't want to give away too much. No, but you know what? Exclusive to the download listeners, they can get that. There you go. This sounds like, I mean, a heated in the garage issue that we got going on between T.J. and Hogue right now. This was a stage. This was absolutely real. This is Ambrose Mears kind of deal.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I don't think Hogue likes T.J. very much. I love T.J. Him and I have great friends. However, I need redemption somehow. Okay. I have to. Well, you know what? And we should ask Junior Nation.
Starting point is 00:15:03 We should ask DirtyMow Radio listeners. My day after that, Sharpie stopped working. How Hogue. Everything was bad. The problem was a PR person. It just went to hell and a handbag. It was a nightmare. My sharpies were upside down.
Starting point is 00:15:17 My sharpies didn't work. My pants had a hole in it. Oh, man. All right, reaction theater is something we always do on the show. Before we get into that, don't forget about Spies' exclusive deal for Dirty Mo Radio listeners. Go online to Spyoptic.com and check out Dale Jr.'s signature spy 88 collection. It includes the Dirty Mo, McCoy, Quanta, General, and Farah for the ladies. in her discount code, Dale yeah.

Now go get yourself a pair of signature 88 collection sunglasses today. It's a great discount, so don't miss out on the opportunity to support Spy and Dirty Mo Radio. You know what I'm thinking? What? We've got to get an audio clip and we can make it a stinger of Taylor saying,
Starting point is 00:16:05 Dale Yeah, on the PA system at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and we can put that in our scripts. You just head the button. How do we get that, Taylor? I don't know. I mean, I'll have to ask that Justin guy if they record. I don't know if they record what happens on that thing. If they don't, you know what you do it.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Yeah, go back. I'll just go steal the microphone up there. If they'll have you back. No, I'll just go steal the microphone. And so if anybody out there wants to see Dale Earnardt Jr. win this race, give me a Dale, yeah. And then I'll repeat it like, you know, Stone Cold used to do. I said if anybody out there wants to see Dale Jr. win this race. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:38 That won't be a big. I can do that. All right, let's go to Reaction Theater. See what we got. I don't know if spending a dollar on a lottery ticket losing is the same as coming in fifth in the All-Star race. But, you know, got to be proud for Mike Hogue. All Hogue Nation should keep their heads high. And keep Hogue.
Starting point is 00:16:57 Hogue, what have you started? What did I do? I don't know. This is... Why do you say keep my case? Is there like a lobby against me? No, no, no. That's in response to what happened in Kansas.
Starting point is 00:17:09 when some fan came up and said Dale Jr., will you take a picture of Hogue and me? Yes. And ever since that happened, have we had you on since that happened? We have not had it. I have the picture. It's turned into the Mike Hogue download instead of the Dale Jr.
Starting point is 00:17:24 Download. Let's hear that for me. The kid comes up, and he's like, hey man, how's it going? Dale's talking to him. He goes, do you mind if we get a picture? Dale's like, yeah, come on over. He goes, no.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Me and my mind. And then Dale said afterwards, he goes, I guess I would have to start getting used to that. That's hilarious. It's a Hogue down mode, man. That's what that guy was talking. I wish you could have seen Amanda's eyes just then. I mean, you don't have a bigger role than what her eyes just did.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Whatever. I'm not being. That's just what happened. I'm telling the story. Your fame. I mean, you've exploded. Zero. Were you embarrassed?
Starting point is 00:17:56 No. I thought it was hilarious. I said, did anybody get a picture of that? And my buddy came over, he was like, did he really just take a picture of you and that guy? I said, yeah, because I got a picture of it. It's sent it to me. That's hilarious. All right.
Starting point is 00:18:08 What else we got? I don't know what the deal is with our cars lately. I don't know why you guys can't get the car. Near perfect in practice. Near perfect. So that way during the race, you can just fix the little tiny bugs. But loose in, tight through the center, and then loose off. I mean, I don't get it.
Starting point is 00:18:30 That's the whole corner that's not right. I mean, cruise. Can we just get loose in or something? and we can get under the race, I don't understand. You guys are professional athletes at Hendrick Motorsports, the top team in the sport, and you bring that shit to the All-Star race? I don't understand.
Starting point is 00:18:52 Wow. He paid a lot more attention to the radio than I did. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. That probably wasn't intended to be comedy, but I laughed pretty much to the entire. I think, listen, in defense of the Hendrik guys,
Starting point is 00:19:03 I think that their thought was, listen, it'd be great if we won the All-Star race. but what if we win the All-Star race in a dump truck? I mean, that would be a national story. I think that's what it, no, I'm just kidding. I don't think it was as serious as he made it out to be. But it was pretty funny, though. No, you know, that's the whole corner.
Starting point is 00:19:22 You didn't even get a little bit of a corner ride. You got the whole corner on. Well, in fairness to those guys, they did get it better as the race went on for sure. Again, on that last run, I really think he had something for him. The longer that one of gone on, I think the better he would have got. Let me ask you this real quick, off topic. If Harvick would have gotten by Edwards for second quicker, do you think he would have caught McMurray?
Starting point is 00:19:44 He would have a shot at him. He had an incredible amount of speed. And he's had speed all year. He had a lot of speed. I don't know what happened with Casey and Newman, because Casey, you had a rocket ship on Saturday night. He hit the wall. He says he got up in the oil, I believe,
Starting point is 00:19:58 the oil from that previous caution, and he hit the wall. Man, that car was on a rail. She was bad fast on Saturday night. All right, what else we got? Tell you how good my driver is. My driver can take a dump truck finishing the top five with it. That's how good my driver is.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Good run there at the end. It didn't quite a half the car, but still good run. Good job by Stevie and everybody getting that thing fixed. There will be a top five car at the end. And got to give a shout out to Jamie Mack. He's not my favorite driver, but man, you've got to give it up to him. He was up on the wheel or those last two or three laps. So let's go get him at $600 next week.
Starting point is 00:20:34 Take it home. There yeah. Hell yeah. Cool story about Jamie Mack is his little boy on Saturday morning and said, Daddy, you're going to win tonight. He's like, I don't know. He said, well, if I do win a million dollars, what do you want? And he goes, a train set. Right.
Starting point is 00:20:47 And I love that. I mean, you know, a little kid says, I want a train set. Like I might say, how about I might start renting a plane, you know, like or we're going to get a brand-new beach house. Little boy says, I want a train set. You got a high dollar train set, too. Chances are you got that. You want to know what I love about McMurray. McMurray's the kind of guy that even on his worst day, on a terrible day where everything goes wrong, he can still find a way to smile.
Starting point is 00:21:11 He is. He's just a good guy. He'll do that. He'll do that, like, whether it's self-deprecation or laughing, you know, just laughing at the situation. He's the kind of guy that on a terrible situation, he can find a way to smile through it and get by. And I love that about that guy. Yeah, that's a good point. All right, let's play one more.
Starting point is 00:21:27 In November 2011, at the Steve LaTart. A first position, some coosies, or something. Make the man feel a little bit better about his crank us out a winner. Hell yeah. When you see Junior later today, you should say, hey, I got this idea. If you need some front grip. Yeah, say please after. Say, hey, Steve, I will go to steveletart.com and buy a coosy if you could give me a little front grip.
Starting point is 00:22:48 I can see how that conversation is going to end very quickly. But to Dato's point, you know. Matters. If manners work. Isn't this what we teach our little girls? I teach my daughters. I teach my daughters as I, you know, manners will get you a lot further. It really will.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Reaction theater is open 24-7. All you have to do is call toll-free 1-855-740-1902. And leave us your voicemail message. That's 1-855-740-1902. We play the best each week right here on Dirty Mo Radio. Good stuff, man. Memorial Day weekend coming up. I got a great feeling that this is going to go well on Sunday,
Starting point is 00:23:24 night and it's not going to end with Mike Davis and me recording the Dale Jr. download in a closet somewhere in the media center at Charlotte Motor Speedway. That's right. Amanda, what do you think about that? That's what we did. I know I'm asking you a question. You don't have a microphone, so that's real good radio. What do you think, Amanda?
Starting point is 00:23:42 Never mind. But yeah, me and you at Charlotte Motor Speedway last year. This is your first race the year, right, that you're going to? You skipped out earlier on the Daytona 500 because that was a, you know, had a birthday. Yeah, my daughter's birthday. So, yeah, I guess it is.
