Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey everybody, it's Dale Jr. back again for another episode of the Dale Jr. download. And it's Tuesday, and it's dirty air. Last week, we had Amy on the show, a lot of fun. She was awesome. This week, I got my buddy, TJ, major's back in studio, TJ. Thanks. Glad to have you here. We got a lot of fun.
Starting point is 00:00:21 A lot to talk about, even though there wasn't a NASCAR race. They had the cars tour. I went on a trip to Ireland. And a lot of other things going on in our lives. It's going to be fun. So here we go. The following is a production of Dirtymo Media. Hill and Junior.
Starting point is 00:00:56 All right. All right. So talked about the fact that there is no NASCAR race, but we still have a lot going on in our lives and there was a Cars Tour race at Wilkesboro. We are going to talk NASCAR as we dive back into the NASCAR season, do a bit of a some house cleaning or housekeeping
Starting point is 00:01:15 talk about teams that we feel like are doing well that are set up well for this final run final stretch to finish out the season I want to I want to thank tire pros for sponsoring Tire Pros is sponsoring the dirty air segment this week
Starting point is 00:01:33 and we're very thankful for them I just saw the other day one of their mobile vans by the race shop Tire Proes is This is pretty cool, and I've learned this. When I first, when we first started working with tire pros, I'm thinking, yeah, if I need tires, that's what I'll do. I go to tire pros because I want to be supportive and loyal to these partners that are supporting us. But I learned that they do everything, not just putting tires on your car.
Starting point is 00:02:06 It's basically a full-service shop, so you can go in there. We went to one and visited one about 40 minutes from here. and they do everything. Alignments, brakes, service your car, just about everything. So, pretty impressive
Starting point is 00:02:21 because they have to have, they have to have a staff of mechanics that are trained and can manage all of that responsibility. But now they have mobile vans. They just come on out. I mean, you don't have to take it in. It's easy, right?
Starting point is 00:02:35 What the heck? It's like, I wonder how they do that. Like, what is they got a jack in the van? I mean, jacking this thing up in the middle of the street. How are they pulling tires off of rims right there in the parking lot? I don't know. They do it all.
Starting point is 00:02:49 I've seen. We did it recently. Well, we had a tire. Yeah, one of our friends here at the race shop had an issue with a tire needed a replacement. Tire Pros come out, put a new tire on the wheel. It's unmatched convenience. So thank you. Find a van near you.
Starting point is 00:03:07 I mean, if you're in an emergency situation, go to TirePros.com. we might be come out there to assist you and get you rolling. So anyhow, I talked about this trip that we took to Ireland, and we're going to talk about that. I got a friend, Tim Dugger. Everybody knows me and Tim are friends. Tim plays a lot of the NASCAR races, and he's a sign with curb records,
Starting point is 00:03:29 making music. Met Tim. This is how I met Tim. T.J., you remember this. You remember this. Tim is friends with Austin Dillon. I invited Austin Dillon to come play. to come play paintball with us one day.
Starting point is 00:03:43 We had about 20 of us, and he brought Tim. And so I met Tim while we played paintball. We had about, you know, half a day of matches just playing around in the mud. And then we drank beer at the house afterwards, and we all got to know each other. Been friends with Tim ever since. We've took a ton of trips together.
Starting point is 00:04:03 His wife Tara and Amy have become great friends, so we spent a lot of time together. I have been become a fan of his music and and his effort to try to make it as an artist. It's been interesting and I've learned a ton about the music business, watching Tim sort of try to find some traction. Guy Wright's has written, has created great music and it just doesn't always happen easily for everybody. I've also met some people through Tim, Drew Parker and some other folks that are, Also, trying to, you know, find their way in the music business. Drew's got a new record out that's really cool.
Starting point is 00:04:44 Tim's got a record coming out soon that's got a lot of new music on it. But Tim plays a lot of the NASCAR races. You may have, you know, if you're listening, you may have been to a race and seen Tim play. He's a great, great entertainer, and we're great friends. And so he's been begging me and Amy to go to Ireland. Him and Tara got married in Ireland about six years ago. I don't know why he picked Ireland. I guess he saw some
Starting point is 00:05:09 Instagram post that said you need to go to Ireland look at these pictures and he goes wow that's amazing let's get married there and they go and they've been going every year multiple times
Starting point is 00:05:20 he will call me up and be like what's going on I'm like not much he's like what are you doing he's like I just got on a plane
Starting point is 00:05:29 I'm going to Ireland for a couple days just tear her with you now she's got to work I'm just going to go he just goes by himself goes down goes to get him a hotel room, goes into Dublin,
Starting point is 00:05:39 drinks at the par a couple days, and comes home. Just like that. But anyways, loves Ireland. Finally talked us into going. We're going to talk about that. He's going to come on here in just a few minutes. Also, a couple other things going on. The market dipped.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Man, lost a thousand points. It dipped. Yeah, I didn't know what was going on. I'm on the plane flying home. and hearing about the global markets, Japan and all these other markets having trouble. And it's just like a domino man, it's coming. As soon as we were on the plane and it was before our market opens, right? And they talk about the futures being down, meaning that everybody's trying to sell and get out before the market opens and they lose all their money.
Starting point is 00:06:26 But fascinating stuff. I don't know why this happens, how it happens. There's a bunch of reasons people think that this happened and you just kind of, you know, don't know what to believe. fascinating and then it just rebounds right it just comes up the the um the stock market dipped and then immediately you see dave portnoy on his uh social media handles just going just having a blast that guy man he just think yeah he's he's a trip so yeah it's pretty you know everybody everybody was talking about this Kenny wallace was talking about this he said he mentioned the stock market and he just got flooded with uh
Starting point is 00:07:05 social media comments on what he needed to do. I can imagine. Yeah, and I'm sure we will too. But a lot of people don't mess with the market. Does anybody here mess with the market at all? I just put, you know, my money, my 401K, do a mutual fund and call it. That's it. Just let the market do whatever it does.
Starting point is 00:07:25 Yep. I don't know nothing about it. I mean, I've, you know, there was a, TJ, you got into day trading there for a while, didn't you? I did, yeah. It was, I probably ended up, I want to say even, but I probably lost a little bit, but it's, it's fun. I still own some crypto. Oh, yeah? A little bit.
Starting point is 00:07:45 Man, I'm nervous about that. Yeah, crypto. Yeah, I mean, I need, I like tangible money in my hand, right? Right. So, anyhow, a long, long time, I'm kind of curious. I've always been sort of curious about the market. And the reason is, is when I was in the second grade. I think.
Starting point is 00:08:05 Maybe, no, no, no. Maybe this was like the seventh grade. It was something. I feel like I might have been the ninth grade even. I don't know. I'm having a hard time. I remember putting myself in, I think I might have been going to Morrisville,
Starting point is 00:08:16 junior high. We were in one class. And there was one week where our teacher decided that we were going to learn how the market works. And so the teacher paired us all up in groups of three or four kids. And those groups would sit down and you had a certain amount of money
Starting point is 00:08:33 fake money, that you were going to buy stocks with. And we would read the stock sheet in the newspaper. And it's before like all the cell phones and iPads and all that stuff. So we're reading the stock sheet or the stock market in the newspaper every day. And we were able to like, okay, we're going to buy this. We're going to buy that. And whoever's team had the most success over the course of the week, you know, would get, I guess, get the best grade or whatever.
Starting point is 00:09:01 I don't know that anybody ever got a bad grade for not, doing well, but we certainly learned some of the very, very common basics of the market. We kicked ass because I found out
Starting point is 00:09:17 I found out we put our money in alcohol because we thought that would be an awesome source. Right? So we put our money in alcohol and some of the I'm not sure exactly what the what actually what the actual stocks were I want to say it was liquor stores like a big chain liquor
Starting point is 00:09:43 stores or something like that like a you know maybe what a total wine might have been back in the day and we just steadily you know did well well I guess others didn't but from that moment on man I've always kind of had this surer curiosity about the market but I'm not And I don't, I don't, I didn't, he was doing the day trading, T.J. was doing the day trading and I was, I was not going to do that. I knew, I'm not, I don't know enough to be messing with that. It's, it's a whole world that I just don't know anything about. Yeah, it seems like a whole different planet. And you know, it, I don't, I don't know that we have all this information so readily available in our finger, at our finger tips like we do today, like you, you got an app on your phone, you can hit the button and open up the market and see how it's doing. But it seems like, at least, at least, I don't remember it, you know, in the last probably 10 years, it has these big swings, like 200, 400, 500, up, down, up, that, you know, very volatile. And this stuff with GameStop. That, yeah, I got in right around there.
Starting point is 00:10:48 You got into that? No, I right around there, but I didn't have GameStop. It was wild. Which I did. And the movie, the AMC? Yeah, right? They were like influencing the market to make. The whole thing was crazy.
Starting point is 00:10:59 I don't know. They were shorting. We need somebody to come in here and tell us how that works. What's his name? Jim Kramer. Was it a guy? Something kiddie or something, the guy. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:07 The GameStop guy. Anyhow, he made so much money. It was an unbelievable amount of money. Still holding. Diamond hands, man. Yeah. Anyways, the market dipped. I was nervous that it was going to be worse than it was.
Starting point is 00:11:19 But, yeah, apparently not, people are saying it's not as severe. One thing that is severe. Debbie, the storm. coming through Florida. I didn't, I haven't really took a lot of time to see exactly how much has happened in Florida. I'm sure that it
Starting point is 00:11:39 was not, not ideal. I do know having a place down on the South Carolina coast, Charleston is getting unprecedented flooding. So I've been kind of monitoring what's going on there and the system as of this recording is
Starting point is 00:11:55 still right over the top of the South Carolina coast and it's just looking at images and pictures and cams and stuff like that it's uh it's more water than i've seen having been there for about four or five years now um so um just kind of concerned you know about what that means um our uh i'm gonna say a lot of it's probably incorrect but this is how i interpreted it um we there was this there's this sort of beach north of us that needed a re-nourishment and they came in
Starting point is 00:12:32 and dumped tons and tons of sand on this beach, right? And they're like, okay, next beach to get the re-nourishment is our beach. But a storm came through and took all that sand down and put it on our beach. And now we have this insane, you know, 2,000-yard beach that wasn't there.
Starting point is 00:12:53 And so this summer, right around where our house is, It's been packed with people because we have so much beach. And I'm sure Debbie's going to change that in some way, shape or form, for the better or worse. But I never realized how much the beach changes over the course of just – I mean, if you look at historical aerials of where we are, it has went – it goes out 1,000 yards. And then eight years later, it's really, really shallow. And then another eight years later, 10 years. later it's way back out again and just crazy how much the the beach physically changes but i'm anxious
Starting point is 00:13:36 sitting here right now to get down there after debby rolls through to see you know what's different um have either of y'all ever been like in a hurricane like no well i mean not i don't count it because i feel like that if you you know you can't we we were i remember when hugo came to through, right? And we're in the Piedmont, we're inland. And I just feel like you can't claim it because, man, you ain't lived a hurricane unless you've been on the coast when it slams into, you know, you know, the coastline at its strongest point, right? By time it gets up to us in Charlotte, I mean, we dealt with some damage and so forth, no doubt, but nothing like everyone on the coast, right? So I don't, I wouldn't call that kind of going through a hurricane, but we,
Starting point is 00:14:27 I'll never forget it, man. We were in Dad's Lake House watching everything outside that wasn't tied down moving around in the yard. You remember we had one of these big giant three-wheelers with the big, big plastic wheels? I remember that. Remember those?
Starting point is 00:14:48 Those ridiculous things? We had one of those, and it's just all around the yard, man. Just back, it's over here. Yeah, it's over here and now it's over here. I mean, it was moving 50, 150 feet, you know, just during the morning. And dad's supposed to be in Martinsville to qualify and couldn't get on the road. And Jimmy Hensley had to qualify his car. If I remember correctly, that was why, because we were, we were, everyone else had went up the day before,
Starting point is 00:15:24 checked into the Dutch Inn and all the other hotels there in Martinsville and we're there at the track to get up it's not storming there I guess I don't know or the storm had I don't know what happened yeah I can't remember why would it not have been storming there if it was storming in Charlotte but dad did not dad was going to drive up that morning
Starting point is 00:15:45 and couldn't get going and ended up they had to get Jimmy to qualify the car he set it on the pole wow yeah that's pretty cool Jim Hensley was very good at Martinsville. A little known lore about Hurricane Hugo and Dale Sr. Yeah. So I actually just got a text from my neighbor in, hmm.
Starting point is 00:16:08 I don't know if he's talking about the water or not, but he said he thought it would be higher. Okay. Yeah. I guess that's somewhat of a good thing. Yeah. Well, I looked at. Maybe he's talking about the market.
Starting point is 00:16:19 I don't know. Yeah. Any of, I thought it had an update, like a live update. Yeah. But everything seems to be okay down there. I mean, for the most part. No. I mean, the Debbie still kind of,
Starting point is 00:16:32 Debbie's still going through the, I think for right now it's kind of in the southern end of the Carolina, South Carolina coast, and it's going to, they got it sort of doing this sort of funky loop where it goes out, you know, a couple hundred, maybe, you know, 50, 100 miles out and turns and comes back toward the coast
Starting point is 00:16:52 and, you know, goes back up in. to the southern part of the North Carolina. So it's got this sort of bend, which is going to make it live, you know, all on that coastline for quite a while over the next 48 hours. And so it's going to, it's really just a ton of water. And it's interesting to me, man, like the beach line,
Starting point is 00:17:15 the beach side of, say, around the Charleston area, does flood pretty bad. All the streets get water and hold water for days where we are it'll be three foot of water in the intersection right at the house and the house is built up just enough to where we don't get water underneath the house
Starting point is 00:17:34 but in town in Charleston it's way worse like there's it'll be it'll be bad all these buildings and all these other places we hold and water
Starting point is 00:17:47 so thinking about all those folks in Charleston or anybody in this path of Debbie and they say this this year is going to be particularly nasty for storms so hopefully we can dodge the heavy punches. Yeah, definitely.
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yeah. We talked about Tim Dugger calling in. He is here. Is he here? Okay, we were going to talk about Ireland. So let's get Tim in. Let's bring him on. There he is.
Starting point is 00:18:16 All right, man. Hey, I was wondering what kind of picture you were going to have here. What kind of quality image and sound and audio we might get from Tim Dugger. I know you're an entertainer, so you're pretty up to speed. I opened my computer and didn't know how to update Chrome, so I had to pull out my phone, so that's why it took me.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Oh, I got you. All right. Well, I could criticize your point of view or your lighting, but you're doing all right. Compared to some of the people that we do Zooms with. Oh, man, you can adjust your light. That's good. The only thing I would say is you might want to raise up. the camera next time.
Starting point is 00:18:55 I know, but Amy's got all these contraptions for holding a phone because she does all that Instagram stuff. And so, like, I'm surprised Tara doesn't have like a... No, I have one, but it's like all messed up. Right now, you're sitting on my computer, which is sitting on a Bible and a grandelopry book and the complete history of NASCAR books. Oh, right. Yep.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Trying to jack it up here. Right on, right on. You got a great, that's a good looking shot there, man. Back in Nashville, right? Yeah, yeah. What you got going on this week? Recovering today. I took today off.
Starting point is 00:19:37 But now just back to the ground, we're working on an album and finishing it up and all the little things that's going along with it. But, yeah, trying to recover from this good time we had in Ireland. So you got married in Ireland, you've been going there multiple times, year over the last five to six years. Yeah. Where do you rate the trip? Don't be honest.
Starting point is 00:19:58 You don't have to say nice things just because I'm sitting here. Where do you rate this trip that you took with me and Amy? I will say Sunday, our last full day there, I would give that about as close to a 10 as we could get it. Because we didn't, you know, the last day you usually kind of take it easy. And, you know, you can try to think out a good time, but sometimes they just find you. I would say we had a pretty good trip. We tried to load a bunch in into a few days.
Starting point is 00:20:29 I think we got our pubs in. We got to see some of the beauty of Ireland. And yeah, I thought it was solid. I'd do it again. It was fun. So we went to all these old historic pubs, very, you know, kind of dimly lit, dark wood, brick, all this all original, hundreds of years old. all that was as advertised.
Starting point is 00:20:54 And I would encourage people that, you know, that want to try a pint of Guinness. I don't, I've never really been a Guinness drinker. Never. No, I thought it was like thick as motor oil. I've never, so if you've never drank it, drink it, you don't know the texture. It looks like it's super thick, right?
Starting point is 00:21:12 And, you know, anyways, we go over to Ireland and drank some. I had some in Scotland a couple months ago, so I was kind of prepped. and man, that's all I drank. I drank Dennis the whole time. It was awesome. Really, really good and thin. And not feeling as you, you look at it and you think,
Starting point is 00:21:30 man, that's going to fill me right up, like a T-bone in the bottom of that glass. But it ain't. It's kind of light. Even though it's dark in color, it's very kind of light to drink. And doesn't taste bad at all. It doesn't taste like light beer, but it's got a good flavor. Anyways, drink. And I like the kind of.
Starting point is 00:21:50 the foam head on top it's kind of like a dessert I don't know it looks like a dessert drink in a weird way so it's kind of fun to drink but
Starting point is 00:22:02 so all that was good I'm sure people were going to ask how was the Guinness Guinness was awesome I was surprised you went hardcore on McGinnis I was like they was going to get here have one then he's going to find something light
Starting point is 00:22:14 they didn't have any light beer they had cores regular it's regular cores. Yeah. It wasn't cores like.
Starting point is 00:22:23 It was just regular cores. And I was like, eh, if I'm gonna just drink, if I'm drinking a heavy, I'll just go ahead and keep on this Guinness. Yeah. The food was amazing. It's really, it's like meat and potatoes, a lot of, you know. Like a working man's meal. A lot of working man's meals.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Yeah. I'm, you know, burgers and all that stuff, but really, really good. A lot of good smash burger style stuff, but all like handmade. Really, really good. But again, go, what was the one pub we had, we went to one pub and had lunch and dinner. We didn't even move. We like, we changed tables, right? Which is just as good as going to another pub, right?
Starting point is 00:23:05 That's my, that is the best. It's a whole new world on the other side of the bar. Listen, we get there and we got this little table. It's awesome, but we've got the hum of the air conditioner sitting right above us. So we're like, oh, well, that group left. Let's go sit over there. So we go sit over there and we had lunch. And then we moved to another table and drank for about three hours and had dinner.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And that to me is the perfect afternoon. I don't mind bar hopping, but bar hopping can take a little bit out of you. And sometimes you get to the second or third bar and you're like, you know, I'm kind of like the first one better. But now you can't go back. We've made that mistake many times, Tim. Yeah, it was, I looked at down. I thought, you know, maybe we were having a lot
Starting point is 00:23:50 few. I look at him, he's like, what's wrong with this? And what I was impressed with is we had sat there for, let's see, I mean, seven hours, maybe, six, seven hours. And so when we closed out, the bartender's like, I'm really impressed.
Starting point is 00:24:08 He's like, I'm surprised y'all can stand. I'm like, man, these colors don't run. We're fine. We're good. So I feel like if the Irish compliments you're drinking, You've done good. Damn right. Damn right.
Starting point is 00:24:20 All right. So we had a lot of fun at the pubs and stuff, which we talked about. But there were some awesome, awesome sites that we got to see. So we went to these cliffs. What they call the cliffs, Tim? Cliffs or more. So super tall. Just almost, like if you got to, you know, Tim sent me some pictures of this over the years. And, you know, it's one of them things.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Like, you've got to see it. They, they're massive. And almost like, Amy, and everybody's like getting over toward the edge. But where other people are taking pictures, and I'm like, nah, not comfortable with that. Not trying to die out here today. I see the cliffs.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Cliffs are amazing. Not getting any closer to that edge. And I'm not even a heights guy. I'm not even afraid of heights. But they are tall. They're tall. And it's straight down right into the ocean. But it's like it's an,
Starting point is 00:25:17 It's really impressive to see firsthand. Just how beautiful, you know, all of that is. And, you know, all this farmland, giant, giant tall cliffs. All this, you know, the ocean is down there and the ocean is being wild. Like, it's crashing hard. You know, big, big waves and the air is, like, clean as air can be. but it was really that was where Tim and
Starting point is 00:25:49 Tara decided to take their photos for their wedding photos which was really cool and then Tim we went to this island I can't pronounce the name of that island I know it's the Aaron Islands but yeah I'd never been over there I thought that was a great highlight of the trip
Starting point is 00:26:08 yeah I agree so there was these three little islands right off the coast right near the cliffs we go over to get on this ferry, not a car ferry, just a people ferry. And there's like 300 people in line. So we're standing there, and the fairies, there's three ferries running,
Starting point is 00:26:27 and the ferries are coming toward us, Tim, and these things are rocking, getting tossed upon the waves. And just all over the place. And we're all kind of like looking at that. Nobody wants to say anything. It was kind of like, hey, we're going to get on here. And odds are that one, maybe two, three of us is going to get sick.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Because, you know, we've been drinking at the pubs. And, you know, we weren't, we hadn't been drinking that morning. But, you know, we're not feeling 110%. But I was a little nervous about that. We get on the ferry and it was pretty good. It was, it was, on the way back, I almost got sick. It was pretty, pretty rough. I got some videos of how much the boat was, like, listing.
Starting point is 00:27:21 It was a ton of list in this, like, left to right, up and down. It's crazy. Yeah, it's crazy how violent the water is out there. Yeah. But, yeah, I mean, I look over and, I mean, probably three rows in front of us. There's a lady having a really hard time with a bag. She didn't make it. And then I look over in Dell has got a candy cigarette.
Starting point is 00:27:46 His hoodie over and he just looks like a captain just riding it out. I bought some candy cigarettes from the, we were in the airport and they had one of those antique candy stores. And man, if you got candy cigarettes, I'm in. You don't find those. You can't find those. Whatever country you're in. They don't, yeah, they're kind of a taboo candy. but I like the taste of them.
Starting point is 00:28:15 So we go out to this island. There's like 300 people live out on this thing. And there's a shipwreck. So we get off the boat and we get, there's a horse and carriage, and we pay this guy $15 or $15 a person plus tip to ride around, take us on a little lap. And so he takes us on this little lap. And we're riding around on this island.
Starting point is 00:28:42 And all of the roads are lined with brick rock walls, not brick, it's rock walls. And they're literally just stacked. There's no mortar or anything. And it's just all on these roads, both sides. And then it's like each acre, half acre, two acres, it's all rock walled in by about a three-foot rock wall all over this island. Like, who did all this? And the guy's like, well, these are 100 to 200 years old. And we're like, well, why is there, why would, it looks like somebody's basically like,
Starting point is 00:29:23 I'm rocking in my acre. Well, I'm going to rock my acre in if you're rocking your acre in. Well, I'm rocking my acre too. And so everybody's just like rocking their acres in, for whatever reason, because there's nothing there inside the rock wall of this acre of land. It's just bare. And so I'm like, what in the world? And he's driving along, and he's like, I'll tell you all how this happens.
Starting point is 00:29:45 He's like, when the settlers first got here to take over this island and do something with it, the whole island was covered in this rock, like a flat rock stone flat surface. And they busted all that rock up and got all of it up off the ground to a certain point and then brought in sand and sand from the beach and covered it to be able to farm it. And all of that stone is they just put it into rock walls. They had nowhere else to put it. So they just made walls everywhere. And so it's crazy.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Just for fun. They were like, yeah, go on here. Well, it's just like to live, you know. Like they needed to farm and they needed to grow potatoes and food and all that stuff. And so, but they took over this, this. island which was completely covered in stone and we're like yeah we'll just bust that stone up and we'll bring in some saying we'll make it we'll make it work 200 years ago we'll make nothing yeah that whole island had a they had one doctor they had one nurse no police um they had
Starting point is 00:30:54 three pubs one pubs for every one three bartenders one pub for every 100 inhabitants yeah and then uh he was telling us how i think the the school has maybe seven eight kids a class. But yeah, it was cool because you go on the pubs and you see it, I mean, you see kids running around, you see they're having a birthday party or this or that. And, you know, they had their Olympics home pulling, pulling for their country. And it was a, it was, it's very stepping back in time a little bit. And when you go on those pubs, you don't, a lot of them don't have music playing.
Starting point is 00:31:32 If it is, it's very light, you know, very low in the background. and nobody's on their phone, everybody's talking. It's a cool atmosphere versus, you know, sometimes when we go on bars, everybody's on their phone or their music's so loud you can't talk. It's a cool vibe. Yeah, the one thing that I thought was neat was when the guy was riding us around, he's like, I was born here and raised and live on the island,
Starting point is 00:32:00 and he said, our kids wake up in the morning, and they go right to the playground, and they go do whatever they want. They have the full run of the island and just whenever they want, you know, they come back home, they come back to eat or whatever. He's like, it was so, you know, there was, like he said, there's not one policeman there because it's not necessary. They have a little fire department and it was fascinating.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Worth the, that was definitely a fun kind of glimpse into a way simpler life. I imagine the winters there are miserable, but it was good. And we were in Dublin. We went all the way from the East Coast where Dublin is through Ireland all the way to the West Coast where the cliffs are. And saw a lot of the countryside. And we stayed at what's the Abbey Place? Glenlo Abbey, right? Glenlo Abbey, yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Little nine-hole golf course with a hotel. We didn't play in golf, but just a really nice place. A kind of place Jimmy Johnson might stay. Yeah. But we hung out there for one night or two, and it was a great trip, man. I appreciate it. Tim's been asking us to come on this trip for, I don't remember how long, ever since you first went, and I'm glad we did, and we had a blast.
Starting point is 00:33:28 It has that, you know, it's not QS. QS is its own deal. Yeah. But the way you can just roll out of the way. one pub into another pub is very kind of that's what I like about about Q West and so that kind of gives me
Starting point is 00:33:43 the it's it's the it's the own thing if nobody's ever been I think it's worth going to and the people are great yeah I think the people are just as awesome as the countryside and the pubs and everything they you know you get to chatting with them and yeah it's uh it was really cool
Starting point is 00:34:00 it was a it was a fun trip I Dale got to experience That's how Guinness makes you really gassy. Yep. Amy, we're at the airport in Charlotte getting our bags, and Amy says, I smell somebody's bottom. I'm like, Amy, I am literally farting every 30 seconds, all right? And she's like, what? How long has that been going on for four days?
Starting point is 00:34:22 Just now smelling it? Yeah. I'm like, I took a peptobismol every day. You didn't tell me about that. To start the day. Oh, man. And it still didn't help. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:32 I mean, I was, you know, but I don't know what's great about being in another country. You can just walk up, crop dust, keep going. I'd like to say it didn't, you would never know. You wouldn't even smell it, but there were a few that were pretty tough. Yeah. Just imagine Taco Bell, but just with air. That's what the good. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:34:51 That's rough. All right, before we let you go, man, me and TJ here are going to talk a little bit about the NCAA game. We've been playing, and we're waiting on you. basically. I came home, played my game, did my recruiting, checked I'm ready to advance. How many people were in this league, T.J.? We got about 12 now. 12 in the league. Everybody's ready to advance if you would go ahead and get your game out of the way today. I know you got the day off.
Starting point is 00:35:16 I'll play mine just a second. I know that was on your top priority was getting that game done. So I'm jealous that you got it done. Well, maybe we can advance tonight and get more. We will. I've got to go to Texas in a couple days, so I don't, I need just to get done. so I can get my game out of the way. Well, TJ's already almost ruined it with his settings and on the highest settings you can do it.
Starting point is 00:35:41 It was on Heisman. We couldn't do it. We couldn't handle Heisman. Imagine trying to go, hey, to a person that's never played something and go, hey, do you like to play this game with me? Yes. And then you just beat the crap out of them. And then you go, hey, wasn't that fun?
Starting point is 00:35:54 You want to play again? And they're like, no, that's what TJ does. That's happened twice now. First time me and Dugger played Madden. and it was 106 to 3. Oh, my gosh. And he got pissed because I kicked a field goal. I wanted the shutout.
Starting point is 00:36:10 And he's not happy that Alabama's O-N-2 right now. I can imagine. We got beat by Western Kentucky pretty bad. On the high level. Well, good luck today, Tim. Good luck. Thank you. I just played, what was it?
Starting point is 00:36:26 It was bad. I just played some division. Division two. Yeah. Something like that. Yeah. I just played one of the Division 2 teams, beat them like 40 to 17. So you should be okay.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Okay. All right. If I can do that, I think you'll be fine because you're well versed in the college football. We'll see. He's not looking. I don't know how long I'm going to last on this. I don't see confidence going out of him. I'm already looking at this Xbox and thinking, what's the resale value?
Starting point is 00:37:00 All right, buddy. Well, good luck. We'll see you. All right, y'all have a good one. We'll do it. Always fun talking to Tim. We had a great trip. And, man, those trips are kind of weird, man.
Starting point is 00:37:09 He's right, like the, I'm always, if we're going to go on a three or four day trip, the day before we go home, the day before we go home. Like, I don't want to, I'm sad to trips over. I'm also wanting to go home. And I can't get in the mood to have as fun of a day as I've had. since I've been there. So, so the, not the day you go home, but the day before that, I kind of struggle with, like, not being a mope.
Starting point is 00:37:41 It's just what to expect with you. This particular trip, we, we were able to push through and make the most out of the day and didn't do that. Didn't get mopey. But that typical, typically happens on most trips for me. Yeah, most time you're just done. Yeah. So, that's true.
Starting point is 00:37:59 You are kind of done, ready to go home, missing the kiddos. We talked about the NCAA game a little bit. You having fun with that? Yeah, I'm undefeated. There's no problem here. Awesome. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:13 I am too. And TJ played my game while I was gone. That's probably against the rules. Yeah. But, yeah, I gave him my log-in. He played the game while I was out of town. It was nice to do. I appreciate you doing that.
Starting point is 00:38:25 Yeah, it wasn't easy. I've kind of cheated the first two weeks. So the first week, I've played. played my, it took me eight times to win my game because I kept restarting it because I kept losing or getting behind. And that's not, that's frowned upon. And then the second week, I was like, hey, TJ, I'm going, play my game for me. So he plays my game and he beat, I'm UNC Charlotte. We beat Carolina. Nice. Big win. Yeah. And then he's, he, I got home and played the third week. And finally won. Legit. Yeah, legit won my game. Do you want to do our midseason review?
Starting point is 00:38:59 Let's do that. You want to do that next? You want to do that next? Okay. So we're going to do a mid-season review. It's not even, is it mid-season? I mean, it's not just the break. I think we're past. I mean, we're past that. So we're, you know, setting up for the final push into the playoffs and figuring out who's going to try to win this championship this year.
Starting point is 00:39:22 And kind of got, you know, we got the points sitting out here in front of us. And what we want to do is just kind of go through. a quick biggest surprises, biggest disappointments kind of thing. So, this can be a good or bad surprise,
Starting point is 00:39:39 T.J. Who do you think is your biggest surprise? I mean, to me, it's got to be Joey Lugano. I think,
Starting point is 00:39:49 you know, I, he's a bad surprise or a good surprise? I mean, I think they should be higher than, I think it's a bad surprise.
Starting point is 00:39:54 Didn't you do this last year, though? I don't know, man. I think if you're doing something two years, in row, not really surprised anymore. I feel like they just had more speed last year
Starting point is 00:40:04 and more competitive. Like there's no win. His win, he was a 15th place car. Yeah. So, but I do agree with you that they can flip a switch and win two in a row. Yeah, it's hard for me to, to, it's hard for me to say, yeah, this is,
Starting point is 00:40:20 this is this, this is how this team runs. This is as bad as they are. I just, Joey and his team have these little hot spots. where they, and they seem to get hot at the right time, but it is odd. It is confusing and curious why they are kind of mid-tier for big chunks of the year,
Starting point is 00:40:42 but this is not something that I think is new. But I do see a look of worry on Joey's face. They haven't led many laps this year. Yeah, looking concerned. Todd Gillen, for me, has been a big surprise. I think for the longest time, man, front row, I feel like we forget how this team competed for a large chunk of its existence. Michael McDowell was able to sort of break through this invisible barrier into being competitive
Starting point is 00:41:19 with this team. I remember saying last year at one point that we've got to all realize that front road being a contender is now the norm, not the surprise. When do you decide, okay, this is no longer a shock or an upset? And so they started running really well, made the playoffs, won some races. But Todd and his team in the 38 car never had that sort of same speed. But this year, I've been pleasantly surprised or glad to see. I think that car run a little bit better.
Starting point is 00:41:54 And with Michael McDowell moving to another team next year, it's like Todd's team's been pushed into that primary role where they're going to see the primary focus and support of the organization. And that should really benefit Todd and the performance of the car. And I think that's what we're already seeing right now. So kind of cool. I'm also a bit surprised, I think, by some of the performances, not weekly, but every once in a while by SHR.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Chase Briscoe, Josh Barry's had a couple of moments. where he's run well. You just think that, man, this team has just mailed it in. Everybody's looking for work. Everybody's trying to figure out where they're going to be next year. And you know the drivers and the crew chiefs and all those folks are shuffling around and trying to figure it out. But what really hurts the team is, or what really hurts performance,
Starting point is 00:42:51 is when that engineer and the second engineer and your car chief and you're under the car mechanics and the people back home that are constantly, you know, kind of preparing cars and getting things to get. When those people start to leave the nest, that's when the performance of the team really starts to fail and everybody's starting to see the writing on the wall. But so far, they've actually been able to remain relatively in the mix. You know, I don't see them going out there and winning races anytime soon,
Starting point is 00:43:25 but I am a bit surprised they've ran as well as they have because honestly they're running I think a little bit better than they did last year as a group now the 41 a priest still pretty much struggles he's had a hard go of it which is a which is something I'm kind of curious about is why has priests not been able to at least pop every once in a while like Josh's car Rodney's going to make that car pop and Josh is doing a good job in those moments to achieve what he can. Chase will have those same moments where he'll, you know,
Starting point is 00:44:00 he'll have a top 10 run and be competitive over the weekend. But not all those teams are doing it. I mean, I kind of agree. I think Josh surprised me in the middle of the summer here a little bit. He had a couple, there was a couple races there where he was really good. Darlington stands out. He had a really good Darlington race. Iowa, there was a couple races where, you know, I was like,
Starting point is 00:44:22 man, Josh has a really good shot at winning. this race and I mean I didn't really see that going into the year I knew he'd be competitive at times but it's showing you know what he brings to the team what him and rodney can do together as well so the team's definitely still pushing hard and and I thought they've been pretty competitive yeah I want to ask you who is I get you know Kyle Busch is a easy low you know kind of easy pick on on disappointments when you hear from Austin Dillon he's swears they've got the answer coming. Yeah, he's confident in it.
Starting point is 00:44:59 They feel like, I don't, no one knows what it is, what this, you know, piece of the puzzle that's on the way is, but they swear that in the future, whether it's in the near future or in the off season, they've got an idea that they believe is going to turn things around. They had a, you know, Andy Petrie left his position in the middle of the season, which, you know, throws up a lot of flags and questions. about why? Why would he not finish out the year?
Starting point is 00:45:27 Is there a disagreement? Was there an opportunity that we don't know about for Petrie that he wanted to go take care of? That's just kind of odd that somebody would disappear in the middle of the year or leave their post in the middle year. It happens. We've certainly experienced that here at Junior Motorsports. But what is this sort of cog in the wheel that they believe that's going to come in and fix things? I'm curious to learn what that is, but it doesn't look like.
Starting point is 00:45:54 it's going to save this season I still feel like Kyle Busch is a good enough race car driver that if given the opportunity he could sneak in and steal a win at some point either before the playoffs or during the playoffs
Starting point is 00:46:09 and give them something to be excited about. Yeah, I agree, Kyle. I mean, he could win the next two races and we wouldn't be shocked by it. And that's just the way Kyle is. I am, it's been a weekly thing for the last month and a half. What lapsed Kyle going to wreck on?
Starting point is 00:46:24 seems like something keeps happening. His fault or not, you know, it just seems like stuff keeps happening. But, I mean, I'm telling you, Kyle could win the next two and none of us would be surprised. Two other drivers that I think are drivers who are maybe driving faster than their equipment, maybe not so much. It's hard to say that because you don't want to dig on the equipment. But I guess two drivers that I would say are impressive, Brad Kozlowski is one. So for me, Brad has always sort of in this.
Starting point is 00:46:54 very short, brief period of time that he's been part of this team. It feels like it's been five years already, but it's not really been that long. That team, the six car, has just ran right underneath the 17. And Chris Boucher's had some really solid moments throughout the last couple of years. This year it flipped. Chris is not getting the results. He's still strong, still having a great day, but circumstances have, you know, determine that this has been the year where Brad's team has got those results, gotten those
Starting point is 00:47:28 finishes, and been able to perform and do it a good rate. So I'm happy to see that. I think Chris Bush is an amazing driver, but just circumstances have, if you just look at the statistics, you can see the numbers for Brad are a little bit better, and it's appeared to me visually, the optics on the racetrack also show that, where Brad's just having a bit better year than his teammate and performing, you know, like I think we hoped he might. I know you're working with Brad and you're living that process of them trying to form, you know, get this team better. And it looks like it's benefited Brad.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Now it's come at a cost, I think, to the 17 in some way, shape, or form. And that shows, I think, the difficulty of trying to get more than one car equally competitive. It's just so hard to have multiple car teams all of them performing the same. And it's really impressive when a team can do that. It's going to be tougher, I think, for Brad and Chris to get both those cars to the top of the heap. But, you know, they're chipping away at it, and Brad's made some gains this year. Yeah, we've definitely made some gains this year. I mean, I'm sitting here looking at the top fives, and I feel like there's two races there that we could probably have still won, you know,
Starting point is 00:48:50 that we're, I mean, Talladega stands out to me. That could have been a win there. We could be right up there. I mean, I really think we could be right under Danny in the points right now. Yeah. So. It might be, Brad could be somebody that you might go and say, you might not have had him finishing in the top five in points at the start of the season,
Starting point is 00:49:08 but I could see him putting together a really amazing. He does this. He is a smart, smart dude. When the playoffs come down, he's really, really smart about. gaining the points necessary, not making mistakes, not racing somebody too hard and hurting his chances on that particular day. And he just really accumulates necessary points to continue to move through the rounds. So while he might not be a championship threat, nobody's going to label Brad a championship contender. I could see him pushing overachieving, I guess, in the deep, deep run of the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:49:48 will he get to that final four maybe not but i could see him just kind of skimming and missing that final four at phoenix um so we'll have to keep an eye on that the other driver that i wanted to come in he's gotten a lot of grief this year and it is all absolutely warranted but it's carson hosovar um he runs better than i think we all thought it that 77 was awful awful um And he stepped in. They made some changes, personnel changes, crew chief changes, and the 77 goes out there and is the best spire car every week for the most part. And he runs probably five to ten spots better than I think we would have expected the best spire car to be.
Starting point is 00:50:35 And so he's probably 20 spots better than that 77 was over the last several years. So, I mean, just even though he makes a lot of bad choices and he's young and foolish at times, which the idea is that he will fix that and adjust and get better and try to do things to avoid all the criticism that comes his way. He's got the speed. He's got the talent to drive a corner. He's absolutely got the raw racing ability to make a cargo fast. So pretty impressive to see what he's been able to do in his position.
Starting point is 00:51:10 Definitely, yeah. Another guy I think that's probably running a little bit faster in his equipment. You mentioned it with SHR, Chase Brisco. I mean, he's up there right below Joey. You know, Josh and Noah and all them, I mean, I don't think they're all putting together bad runs. They're actually running great, but for him to be five spots ahead of his teammates is, I think it's impressive.
Starting point is 00:51:28 Yeah. Josh had a really good run there in the first part of the summer and was, man, I don't know. I know there's a couple wins have happened that have shuffled some of the numbers at the bubble to the playoffs where Ross Chastain and Bob Wallace are. But there was one point where Josh Barry was 100 points out. and man the last four or five weeks had just been just awful. He's got to get back to some short tricks.
Starting point is 00:51:50 He's got six DNFs compared to Chase's two. If Josh even finishes mid-pack in those races, he's way high. Right there. Yeah, right there with him. Noah had a really good start to his year. Racked up a lot of top ten finishes and was pushing really hard for some,
Starting point is 00:52:06 he was overachieving. And that has ended. Like the second half of the year has been what I think what we might have more expected from that team. So it'll be interesting to see if they can sort of reclaim this sort of tenacity that they had in the first probably 10 or so races. Looking at the 16 drivers to make the playoffs, we're going to focus more on the bubble.
Starting point is 00:52:27 Mark Tricks Jr. is 108 points above the cut line. Then you have Ty Gibbs at 42 plus. Chris Busher at 17 plus. Then Ross Chastain at 7 plus and Bubba Wallace off the playoff mark by 7 points. And then you have Chase Briscoe, Kyle Busch, Todd Gillen, all 80 or more points below. think they're absolute must-wins. Anybody below chase is a must-win, no way you're going to gain these 83 points necessary to get back into it
Starting point is 00:52:52 and point your way in. I think, you know, if you're any of those teams, you've got to be throwing the Hail Marys in all of these races, giving up, stage points, giving up, you know, whatever it takes to be able to put your driver in the best position to steal a win. And it may cost you a lot of points to the cut line. It may cost you positions.
Starting point is 00:53:14 You know, if you're Chase Briscoe and you're going to go for these hellmeries, you may fall from 18th down to 20th, 22nd points, because you're giving up chunks of points in these stage one and stage two breaks. But I think it's worth it to see if you can get that win. Bubba Wallace and Ross Chastain will be fun to watch. I think they've had some history in the past. If we see them out on the racetrack battling for positions, it could get pretty physical.
Starting point is 00:53:42 Chris Busher, TJ, you're rather close to that team at 17 to the good. That's got to be a bit of an uncomfortable position to be in. Oh, 100%. Yeah, you want to be up there in the hundreds for sure. Anytime you're within striking. I mean, you're one DNF, one flat tire, one miscue on pit road. I mean, even just getting caught up in somebody else's mess. Right.
Starting point is 00:54:06 And you're below that line. I always liked at this point in the season to have a one race buffer, right of and I think that's kind of what you could say tie gibbs has at plus 42 i think tie is running well enough now they've they've sort of disappeared a little bit i mean they probably think they're running great they're not making waves they're not they're not doing things of recognition i'm not watching races and going man that was a great run by old tie gibbs there but they're getting the finishes they're getting results um i would like to see tie gibbs do things that get my attention or get your attention or just
Starting point is 00:54:44 the casual fans sitting at watching at home would walk away from that going I'm impressed by X, Y, and Z and Ty Gibbs. So, you know, I guess you could say or I'm trying to say that it would be cool to see them bump it up a notch. But at
Starting point is 00:55:00 plus 42, he's got to be feeling pretty comfortable. I think Trix absolutely is a lock at 108. And do they win a race? You know, where do they win? there's a lot of pressure, I think, on Truex, to try to finish this year out strong.
Starting point is 00:55:17 Having made the decision to retire, he wants to go out with a win, go out with, you know, he wants to celebrate one more time. When you know that, when you know when that end date is, you want to field the joy of victory one more time because you're, you, the last time you won, you didn't really know that was the last time you were going to win, right?
Starting point is 00:55:42 and boy if you had known, right, that was the last time, what would you do? You'd do some things different. Celebrated harder. Yeah. So, I mean, I think that he's probably maybe putting a little more pressure on himself to maybe get one more victory. But I don't see, I don't know, I don't see a whole lot more out of that team. They do run good, but. We are going back to Richmond where him and Denny had the restart earlier this year on the front row together.
Starting point is 00:56:07 He was leading most of that race. I mean, and the caution came out and the whole restart thing happened. I mean, what do you think are the numbers for true X at the end of the year? One win, three wins? What is he going to do here? I think he gets at least one more. And honestly, this weekend is where I think he gets it. I'll go ahead and call my shot there.
Starting point is 00:56:24 I mean, and if there's the threat of weather, which, you know, I know we don't like to talk about. But if it ends up getting moved to Monday, Martin on Monday, there's no one better. Oh, really? There's no one better Martin on Monday. No kidding. Yeah. So we'll see. I thought I was pretty good on Mondays.
Starting point is 00:56:38 Yeah. Nope. I mean, you know, in the current field, in the current field. In the current field. Did you just make that up? Because I've never heard that before. Martin on Mondays? He won like three of the Monday races last year or something like that.
Starting point is 00:56:48 We probably had eight of them. Well, yeah. But, yeah. He was, that's what we called him. But Dover isn't really, you're not really wowing me with Dover because that's probably one of Martin's best house.
Starting point is 00:56:58 Yeah, that was one of them. I don't remember the others, but there was like some statistic where it's like eight of the last 11 Monday races or something. He was like top five or winning, some crazy stat like that. I think tricks gets a win. I will be surprised if he gets,
Starting point is 00:57:11 it's three. Three seems like a lot with the amount of races that are left. I think he could have done it this season, but, you know. We got a lot of industry news coming up and happening throughout the Olympic break. Corey LaJoy is out at Spire. I guess Corey went on his podcast and talked about this. Did any of you guys see his comments? I guess he's just kind of trying to keep his head up, you know, and see. I wonder where he ends up. Where in the world will he end up? We were talking about that and I'm like, I don't know where. His options have to be pretty limited. You know, does he, I don't know that there's a cup ride open.
Starting point is 00:57:48 I think he had some financial support. I think if I were him, I would try to put myself in a position where I felt like I could win races. And you may have to, you may have to absolutely make less money. Your base salary might be less and that might be tough. And I'm not sure what his situation is financially. But I think being happy and enjoying what you're doing, celebrating some wins, is worth it over the course of a year. And plus, you can reestablish your reputation.
Starting point is 00:58:28 Your rank too? Yeah. Put yourself back in these conversations. When a seat is open, are you throwing Corey in that conversation? You got all these drivers like Sam Mayer and Zane Smith and Harrison Burton and all these other drivers that are looking for rides or looking for opportunities. And you got to Corey Himes and the younger kids that are the new guys that are getting considered. Zillich, Connor Zillich is in there. Corey is not, it's a crowded room when you're looking at like two or three open rides available.
Starting point is 00:59:06 And so I think he's going to have to mash a reset button, drop back a league or two. I mean, I would even consider doing what a John Hunter Nemechek might have done and go back to the trucks and try to rebuild your reputation and rebuild everybody's confidence in your ability. Rodney Childers will now have to be paired with a new driver or someone else. A lot of folks thought that it would be great for Kyle Bush to get out of his ride at Richard Chilers Racing and go there. I honestly feel like even though that's a great opportunity to work with Rodney, it's kind of a lateral move for me. All the work and effort that might take to get that shift made seems like it would be more effort than reward. But a lot of people thought that would be a good move for Kyle.
Starting point is 00:59:57 It's interesting because it was an interesting conversation because Kyle did sell his truck team to them. He has a connection there. It really would just take a lot of money, I think. think Kyle is going to Kyle's going to demand a salary that Spire has not paid anyone to drive the race cars but there is a faucet that Spire can turn
Starting point is 01:00:20 on with Gainbridge to get that done. Could they actually flip those switches to make that happen? But also on top of that you have like Zane Smith there's a Spire trackhouse relationship and a Chevrolet relationship. Chevy's got some plans for some drivers. There's been some promises and commitments also made.
Starting point is 01:00:42 TJ, you're in the middle of the room or meal. You're over at Doorb Upper Clear. What is your best guess on who ends up in the seven? Man, I want to say like what you said, Kyle, but I don't see that happening yet. I don't think that. I don't think he gets out of RCR. I mean, to me, the choices has got to be somebody you're moving up. I mean, they've got a lot of drivers.
Starting point is 01:01:08 They've got a lot of, they've already got the drivers and not enough seats. So this might fill that void, but I mean, it's hard. You got Rodney Childers. And I don't know what Roddy's mindset is right now. Is Rodney wanting to groom a young guy or does Rodney want to win now? You know, because I feel like if you start with a young guy, you've got to build it all again like he's doing Josh right now. You got to start over again. So, I mean, if you're looking for the veteran route, you know, I don't know.
Starting point is 01:01:34 Is there, who's available that could do that? I mean, is there a... I don't think that they're looking at the veteran route. I think that this is a, I think that Chevrolet, so there's a lot of relationships at Spire that could influence who goes there. You have a connection to Chevrolet. You have, you know, the relationship with Hendrick Motorsports that's been there over the years. You have this connection to track house that seems to,
Starting point is 01:02:04 be more than just, and it seems to be, there seems to be a relationship between those two. So. My guess, you want it? Yeah. SVG. I was thinking that.
Starting point is 01:02:16 SVG. That's my guess. Really? I don't know. Yeah. I mean. I mean, is he not going into a third trackhouse car? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:02:25 They haven't officially bought that third charter yet, right? So if they do, I think he does go into that third. But if they don't, why not do exactly what they're doing with Zane and, you know, lease him over to the seven. That's a whole other conversation. Like these charters went up for sale and they did not, they kind of sold, some sold, some didn't sold. They're like getting lost.
Starting point is 01:02:45 Somebody's going to find a charter under the fricking mattress. What the hell? You know, what's going on? I don't know. There's one, the only one sold for sure. We know that. You know where we, that one charter it's missing? Do you know where is it?
Starting point is 01:02:57 Did you put out in the garage? Oh, that's in my car. I heard it was in the attic. I thought you bought it. There's like charters just kind of, hey, it's just, Sit this one over here. I saw one for sale on eBay the other day. Yeah. Oh, the third one.
Starting point is 01:03:10 Yeah. Plus there's the rumors of, you know, there's a couple people who were interested, like Andretti was apparently interested in getting into the Cup series. Yeah. I think there was another one too, but Steinbrenner's. Steinbrenners are thinking about investing the Yankees. Yeah, I mean, who knows?
Starting point is 01:03:23 So that article came out with sports business journal, right? Adam Stern. Adam. And we were mentioning there. So me and Kelly's talked to the Yankees. like two years ago and they were definitely interested in you know they are curious about the the market and and you know they wanted to learn about what race teams spend how much you know what's what what is a you know what are the financials and the risks involved and because I can see
Starting point is 01:03:56 absolutely you know these are you know these are owners and businesses that are that have invested in other sports and those sports you know like you know a football franchise 20 years ago sold in the hundreds of millions and now sales for you know four to six billion dollars so you know they've kind of not that they can't continue to grow in value but they've kind of you know a lot of these people that are you know in those in that type of ownership have sort of seen the the the growth and maximize that opportunity. And if you were in that world and saying, okay, we turn this $100 million deal into a billion dollar deal
Starting point is 01:04:46 and how much higher is the ceiling we don't really know. And you look down at NASCAR and you go, well, NASCAR looks fun, that's cool. And they're selling, oh, they're selling franchises for the most part of of charter as a franchise. They're selling those for $20 million? Well, if I can. turn that into 150, I'm doing good, but that could go into the, you know, the 500, the $1 billion
Starting point is 01:05:10 range if you're wanting to hang on to this thing for 10, 20 years, depending upon how the agreements go for the NASCAR and the RTA. I could see these, I could see them being valued in the hundreds very easily. And so, you know, it has to be. It has to be. be appealing to a brand that has lived in that sticking ball sport and understands how they've turned that into a very incredible business model. And they will come here, just like Michael Jordan and all them guys did, they'll come here and learn the intricacies of how NASCAR does business and go, wow, man, this is a weird business model.
Starting point is 01:05:58 This isn't exactly like we thought. kind of like that, you know, they're doing right now with 2311. So we'll see how that works out, man, but dang right, man. I mean, if somebody came in here tomorrow and said to me and Kelly, we definitely want to be majority investors in a race team. We love for you and your team to manage it, be hands-on with building the program and taking the program to the racetrack to perform well, we would absolutely be interested in that.
Starting point is 01:06:37 And we have, you know, we have had those conversations with certain, you know, groups before to see what could happen. But anyhow, that was pretty interesting to read that. I wasn't sure, you know, you have these conversations with people and you don't share them publicly or, you know, you don't let people know that. these conversations are happening, but when it comes out, it comes out. Juan Pablo Montoya will drive the 50 car for 2311 at Watkins Glen.
Starting point is 01:07:07 What a shock that was. I was shocked. Yeah. I didn't see that coming. I didn't see that coming. Why does Juan want to come back and race? Was he not having fun? I think he's just got that bug, man.
Starting point is 01:07:19 Yeah. Just wants to keep doing it. All right. Well, I've seen a ton of social media content around Juan and the last time he raced and his qualifying lap around the Lynn and all those things and everybody seems excited for him to be coming back. How well can he run? T.J.
Starting point is 01:07:37 You would actually be a really good person to ask about this. Knowing the next-gen car, the prep involved, seeing SVG firsthand come in. How? What could be the expectation for one? I mean, is it, I think a top ten? I could see him coming in qualifying top 15
Starting point is 01:08:04 and I would be going yeah I'd be happy with that should people are people expecting more or people are like thinking he's going to come in and qualify on the pole and win the race is that expecting too much
Starting point is 01:08:16 I think that's expecting too much right now because these cars are they're not what they were when one left it was a there was still a finesse involved in a road course of. Now it is qualifying laps, every single lap, and it's just not the same.
Starting point is 01:08:35 I mean, it's not, the car is completely different. Now I'm not saying, I think Juan will figure it out as he goes, and I think he'll have a solid finish, but coming in and expecting him to just put it on the pole, the track's going to be quite a bit different than the last time we probably drove on it too. I mean, now we go in, he's running the glen, right? Now we go into one and we exit,
Starting point is 01:08:55 and we run so wide there. The bus stop is completely different than what it used to be. I just think it's going to be, Juan's definitely a diverse enough driver that he's going to learn and grow as the weekend goes on. But with little practice too, it's going to be hard. Well, I'm excited about that. I loved Juan. I'll be honest with you.
Starting point is 01:09:15 When I would see him at the driver's intros, he always was approachable. And I'd go up to him and talk to him. And he was always easy, easy to talk to. and a fun guy to be around, and he talked a little shit, and he complained. You know, he had to say, I would walk up to him, and, you know, you're a driver, right? So you think you know everything, and you think you know everything, and you think you know everything that's wrong with NASCAR,
Starting point is 01:09:39 and you think, you know, everybody's got like two or three things going on that weekend that they're pissed off about or think it's stupid. We had to do this or do that or do something this way. And you'd go up to Juan, be like, what's up, Juan? He'd be like, yeah, man, you believe it. And you're like, he's just like us. And so I always enjoyed being around him. Don't forget this weekend at Richmond, the Cup race coming back.
Starting point is 01:10:03 They'll be running the option tire. I'm not sure what exactly you expect up from that. But it should be fun to watch and see how it plays out. Keep in mind that this is an experiment. This is something that I think, I hope, Goodyear and NASCAR both learn from this, even if it doesn't go well, even if it doesn't make a difference, even if it seems to have no bearing on the end result.
Starting point is 01:10:28 It's a process that will take a long time to net out. I'm thankful for NASCAR. I'm thankful for good year, all of them trying to come together to do something to try to help the racing at a place like Richmond. And we'll see how this does this weekend. Adam Stevens, Christopher Bell's crew chief, is going to miss the race weekend
Starting point is 01:10:50 after having what appears to be, or has been called a double knee injury while on vacation. That sounds very traumatic. Very painful. I have been, every time I hear this or read this, I start to hurt. I don't even,
Starting point is 01:11:06 I'm hesitant to ask you, T.J. If you know any details. But Adam, that sounds awful. We, I don't know Adam all that well, but certainly wishing him a quick recovery from this incident. and I know he wants to get back to the racetrack as fast as possible.
Starting point is 01:11:25 So he may miss the next several weeks, but I'm sure he'll be assisting them from afar while they go through this process. All right, so here's the white flag for this Tuesday show, dropping tomorrow's Speed Street with Connor Daly and Chase Holden. We also have our guest interview dropping tomorrow. It is a secret who this. person is.

I watched it, a lot of fun. And Dalton did a great job, winning gold.
Starting point is 01:13:18 Thank you. Yep. You're both competing in the games, Tim's and Dalton. Andrew did not do well in the Bianchi bombs. It was fascinating to see how the hot sauce affected some people differently than others.
Starting point is 01:13:35 Yeah, there was the first one out. I couldn't handle it. Yeah, some people were jumping up and down. Some people were crying. Yeah. Some people had the, Andrew had the sour cream was his extinguisher. I couldn't do that.
Starting point is 01:13:47 No, thanks. No. So go check all that out on the next level with Andrew Curlin YouTube page, the Dirty Moe Summer Games, several installments there. Dalton, you've got our weekly social media standout. I do, yes.
Starting point is 01:14:00 This comes from, some advice for you, Dale. This comes from David Osborne. He heard your nose blowing habit and said he uses his t-shirts that are in a laundry basket. Not doing that. That's worse than the towel.
Starting point is 01:14:17 Grab a sweaty t-shirt and blow your nose into it. TJ, are you unaware of this? I just trying to think of which one's worse. And you think like a bath towel or a t-shirt? What do you do with a bath towel when you're done? Do you throw it in a laundry hamper? You just leave them hanging up. You're probably hanging back up.
Starting point is 01:14:35 If I've only blown my nose in one side, it's still got another bath in it. And I hang it up. And then Amy grabs it and that's not my problem. Okay. All right, David. He's going to keep doing what he's doing. Actually, Amy. will tell you this if she comes back to the show at the first next month.
Starting point is 01:14:57 I have not done this in quite some time. She would not tell you all that the other day because it was just too good and give me a hard time. But I'm a changed man. We're happy to hear that. I'm reaching for the tissues. Good. Yep.
Starting point is 01:15:14 Good. It's one day at a time. It's like a 12-step kind of process. Now, if I go to the bathroom and the tissues are gone, I don't know what's going to happen. A towel is, you know. Tiles better not be anywhere near. All right. Guest segment tomorrow, be sure to tune in.
Starting point is 01:15:29 Thank you for coming and visit us today, T.J. Yep, appreciate it. I hope to see again for the end of the year. And y'all have a good one. We'll see you tomorrow. Check out Dirty Mo Media on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram.
