Starting point is 00:00:00 Surprise everyone. It's me. Kenny Wallace filling in for Dale Jr. on the Dale Junior download. Junior's on vacation, so you're stuck with me. This episode is all about Teledega and boy, was it wild. The biggest wreck in Teledega history. We're going to talk about that and more on the Dale Jr. Download starting right now. The following is a production of Dirty Mo Media. in June. Moron. If you undo your belt in a moving race car, a moron.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It disregards a bird. That was unnecessary. I love what I'm right. He tends to hide the weird stuff and I'll find it. Your download starts now. Welcome back, everybody, to the Dirty Mo studio. And Andrew, I just want to let you know. I was very, very excited about this moment.
Starting point is 00:01:24 Oh, yeah? I'm honored. I'm humbled. so I shaved. Can you tell I shaved up? I think so, yeah. I did too. I did too. Yeah, right. Big day for me. So thank you for having me here. And listen, we're going to get right to it. Dale Jr., if you would have told me he would be turning 50 years old this Thursday, I would have never believed it. Can you believe he's of that age now? I don't know. He's an old man. You said it.
Starting point is 00:01:57 This is also my last week on the show too. Never. I can't lose you guys. My thoughts about Dale Jr. turning 50 years old this Thursday is I qualified real well at one of the big Charlotte races. And I was feeling really good about myself. And I'm standing on top of a trailer. And this is Dale Jr.'s first cup race. And he lays down a really good lap and he qualifies.
Starting point is 00:02:25 And at this time, I'm feeling like he's. 12 years old. He's so young. And it was like the complete Charlotte Motor Speedway rushed to his garage area. And at that moment, I thought to myself, Dale Jr. has arrived. And that was, I just, now I think about that and here he is 50. Are you kidding me? It's insane. What do you think he's up to right now this week? Where's he at in Florida? I don't know where. Honestly, I don't know. He's out of town, but not quite sure. What? Like, And, you know, he's been talking about this 50th birthday for a while, but like, I don't know, 50, that's a big number. You got to go all out, right?
Starting point is 00:03:04 I would think Amy has something in store for him. But also I'm thinking, Junior's got his glasses on it, and he's scrolling his cell phone. Absolutely. Yeah, that's definitely happening. Yeah. And he's probably wondering, you know, he's probably just checking everything out until the party comes and I know he can party. I'm hoping he parties. You think he will? He keeps saying like, oh, I'm not doing a big party. I'm like, something's going to happen. Something's going to happen.
Starting point is 00:03:38 He's going to go hard for sure. All it takes is for one drink to go down good. So if his belly is feeling good, everybody that's listening, remember your friend goes, oh, come on, let's go out. And you're like, no, no. But all it takes is that one drink to just go down good. Kenny, we actually have a caller. We've got someone calling in. That never happens. Yeah. We have a caller. We've got a caller on the show. Should we bring them up? Is it junior? Go ahead, caller. Let's see.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Who is it? Oh my. Oh my. Hey, I would usually say, go ahead, caller, you're on the air. Kenny Schrader, are you kidding me? You're amazed that I was talked through how to get connected, weren't you? Not my job. That's Andrew and Dalton's
Starting point is 00:04:27 job. Everybody here. I see you. You look good. Where are you talking to me from? In the shop, getting ready to hop on a motorcycle and head to I-70 to the high-limit sprint car race tonight. So are we riding the trike or the two-wheeler? One of the bikes. One of the bikes. No trike tonight. No trike. I have myself, so taking the bike. All right, Kenny. Listen, you and I have been friends. our whole life. And I got to tell you this story. Listen to this story, partner. Dale Jr. and Mike Davis, they call me. And they said, all right, Herman, dirty mo media is getting bigger. It's expanding. And we need something in the Midwest. And that Kenny Wallace show is doing pretty good. How about we start collaborating, but we need a little help? I'm like, okay, what's that help?
Starting point is 00:05:21 They said, call Kenny Schrader up and we want you two to start a show. So if, if you're a I ask you to be part of a show that you and I would do, you know, 40 shows or so a year, what do you think about that? Okay. You're going to do most of the talking. You like to be talk and you like to be heard. True. You know where I'm, you know my stand on this whole social media thing, you know,
Starting point is 00:05:50 and it's because I'm old, but yeah, I'm, I'm, I just kind of got where, you know, Federated asked me a number of years ago that you need to post where you're going and what you did. So I kind of almost kind of got that figured out. I don't post all the time. But I'd be up to that long as you talk me through it. And I told you just do that. Okay. I'm jacked up on Sundrop right now. That's right. I really am. This is awesome. Kenny, so we do have an announcement today. You and I are going to be part of Dirty Mo Media, the podcast. We're super excited about it. And I don't think I'm going to have to talk you through anything. I do find it interesting, though, because you told me I don't want to say anything negative. I don't want to pick on people. And I said, well,
Starting point is 00:06:40 I'll do that. I got no problem picking on somebody that needs to be picked on. Shreder. I don't like hearing everybody's opinion. I'm not going to give mine unless someone asked it, but I'm not going to, you know, there's just a lot of people that want to give everybody's opinion. I mean, they want everybody know their opinion. I don't care if anybody knows my opinion.
Starting point is 00:07:06 One of the greatest opinions of all time is when we ask Kenny Schrader for his opinion. Those are usually the best sound bites in motorsports history. Kenny, listen, I'm excited about this. I don't know about you, but we're killing a couple birds with one stone, as they would say today. I'm helping Dale Jr. out, and you and I are announcing that Midwest show. So Dale Jr., Mike Davis, they called us. I love you, partner. And the term partner, that's going to be an episode because you taught me that.
Starting point is 00:07:38 Anytime Kenny Schrader calls somebody partner, that means we're getting ready to go in on something together. and we're going to have a good time, and we will not be short on topics. No, we are trying something to talk about. All right. Well, that is something we've talked about. I told Mike Davis and I told Andrew here in Dalton, you know, everybody. I said, Schrader likes to move around a little bit. Maybe we do it at his shop once.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Maybe we do it my shop. But that's a lot of shows, so we'll try to do whatever we can do. but okay, there's one other business at hand before this show starts. We have three names that we're thinking about for the show, and we need all the fans to get involved in this. And Kenny, we got names, so we need the fans to help us. What are we going to call this? It can either be called The Ken and Kenny Show.
Starting point is 00:08:37 That's one. The Kenny and Kenny show. or Shrater and Herminator. Off the top of your head, which one sounds good to you? I like Kenny and Kenny. That way we both think we've got top billing. Yes. I told you.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Hey, you know, that's funny because I said, you know, people always say to me, how do you get along with your brother Rusty so good? I said, oh, that's simple. I always let Rusty stand one inch taller than me. And that's the same thing I do with you, Kenny. You're my hero. I always look up to you, but I said, let's call it Ken and Kenny Sir Schrader as top billing. Kenny and Kenny.
Starting point is 00:09:26 That's how I'm voting. Okay. Plus, we want to hear from the fans, Sue. And Dalton, you can help TSA. Yeah, absolutely. What's the best way fans can submit their ideas for your name? We're going to put this out as a post. You guys comment, share, quote, tweet, whatever you want to do, and give us some good ones.
Starting point is 00:09:39 Don't give us some lame, you know, just think the first one you got, throw it out, and then give us the second one. That'll probably be the better one. Because we want to just have the fans involved as much as we possibly can. They never let us down, right? So I think this is a good opportunity. Maybe you might be able to help name the show. You know what I'm thinking right now? He's got a damn good voice.
Starting point is 00:09:56 You could be a DJ. All right. Yeah, we can set that up. Okay. There's weddings. No, I just got married. I don't do weddings. That's what it is.
Starting point is 00:10:05 All right, Kenny. Well, we're going to get right back to you. I know that, I know we've talked about this for a little bit. Can you believe it, my friend? We moved back to St. Louis, and NASCAR basically came chasing after us. So Mike Davis and Dale Jr., they chased us down. I'm honored to be part of Dirty Mo Media. This is a pretty big deal for me.
Starting point is 00:10:28 What's the last thing you got to say? You're doing the talking. You know, what I'm going to say is, I can't even believe. that I agreed to it and am excited. Genuinely excited about it. Yeah, me too. All right, everybody, that's it. Kenny, thanks for calling in.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Love your brother, and I'll see you when I get back home. All right, Herman, love you, man. Bye-bye. Andrew, I am really excited about this. Kenny and Kenny. Yeah, that's the best. Because no one has top billing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:02 You don't know who we're referring to. Yeah. Whose fault is it, Kenny's? Yeah, right. See, Schrader is always wise, and he always comes up with that little quip at the end all the time. Yeah. And I like it too, because I can just blame anything that goes wrong on Kenny. We were even waiting for his video to upload.
Starting point is 00:11:24 I'm like, hey, thanks for your patience. He's like, I'm salary. It doesn't matter. See, exactly. It's going to be so good because we got so much history to go through and today's topics. And his opinions are valid. he's done so much in the sport. So I'm really looking forward to that.
Starting point is 00:11:40 It's finally a show from the Midwest. This is like Dirty Mo Media's Louisiana Purchase. Yeah, it's like Manifest Destiny with Kenny and Ken trading property out there in the West. Andrew, did you take history? I did. Yeah. Because St. Louis is the Louisiana purchase. Oh, this is freaking perfect.
Starting point is 00:12:01 And that's why everything is a saint. Everything is a saint. You know, St. Louis. Market Street. Everything in St. Louis is about the Louisiana purchase. That's awesome. Dirty Mo Media heads west and purchases Missouri. We've got a state. That's the headline. That's the headline. Dirty Mo Media buys the entire state. Oh my God, I love it. And I do want to say this and we'll end this this segment like this. Dale Jr. called me and shocked me because he always
Starting point is 00:12:36 me. And all of a sudden my phone starts, you know, ringing. I look down and it says, Dale Jr., I'm like, Dale Jr.'s calling me. Let me brush my hair. It's a phone call. I got a shave. I got a shave. And he's got Mike Davis. You know, it's a hands-free call. And right away, Junior's like, what's you're playing with that show you're doing? I'm like, oh man, we're just screwing off. You know, Kenny Walla Show, coffee with Kenny but damn it, I told Mike Davis we need to get together. How do I do? That impression is pretty strong.
Starting point is 00:13:13 If I close my eyes, he's here in the room with me. Well, damn it. That's good. Damn it. Mike, I told you, we need to get Herman involved in this deal. So I'm excited and we are going to collaborate. And I am excited to be part of y'all team. And you said earlier today that you were in the Rockies when you got that phone call, right?
Starting point is 00:13:33 Good segue. Look at that. Nice. How was the trip? Don't leave hanging. How was the trip? Oh, sorry, I miss that. Yeah, I am, you know, Kim and myself, my wife, Kim, we went to the Canadian Rockies.
Starting point is 00:13:47 You know, the chance of a lifetime, nine-day trip. Oh. At 61 years old, I said, you know, I better start doing something now because I feel like I've been inside the garage area my whole life. Never came up for air. And so I'm doing this deal where I'm traveling the world now. In January, I'm going to Italy. Oh. We're in Italy.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I don't know. Whatever it takes them. And Kim's not going. So I'm going with my dear friend, John Scutoni. Skatoni. Hey, Skatoni. He's got a family over there. Perfect.
Starting point is 00:14:23 They talk like this. So John Scatoni's a dear friend of mine. He's got family over there. We're going to go seven or nine days. I said, listen, got to go to the Vatican. Yeah. We're going to stop at Ferrari. we can rent a race car and run it on their road course.
Starting point is 00:14:41 Heck yeah. That's awesome. We're going to stop at Lamborghini. We're going to the Vatican. We're going to do it all. You need to do Pompeii. What's that? It's like the volcano eruption that basically preserved this town.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Unbelievable. Yeah. I'm laughing because I'm so redneck Pompey. I thought that stuff you burn or something. What car manufacturer is that? And we're going to stop at Iceland on the way back Because I guess you go right by it or something. It's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:15:12 I've never been, but I've seen pictures. It's beautiful. So my vacation, our vacation in the Canadian Rockies, I said it just kind of centered my soul. You know, it really makes you realize how small we are. Yeah. Oh my gosh. You know, it's like I had to wipe my eyes.
Starting point is 00:15:30 The paintings, of course, it's not a painting. I mean, Lake Louise, the Fairmont Chateau, beautiful hotel. It's like, this is real. And you're there, and you're like, am I looking at a painting? This is God's creation. Absolutely, yeah. And then we get on the train. We got on the train for two days, and that was awesome.
Starting point is 00:15:53 We ended up in Vancouver, and just everything up there in the northwest is a painting. It's real, but I'm fresh. I'm back, guys. That's awesome. You seem relaxed. We couldn't be happier to have you. So is this slow down? Like, you know, you've been in the garage. You haven't come up for air. Is this coming up for air and slowing down and taking these types of trips, like, new for you in life? Like, was this kind of the first trip that you've done that's like this? Yes, 110%.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Because I was, you know, it's a deal where I live by Clint Eastwood now. I mean, this started not a year ago. Don't let the old man in. And they always say, if you're going to travel, do it while you can walk. Yeah, absolutely. Helpful. That's helpful. Get some good shoes.
Starting point is 00:16:45 But yeah, this is plan. And, you know, they always say the best laid plans in life are the ones that are not planned. But you've got to kind of plan these things. So we did a really good job. And Kim was ready to come back. first vacation ever where Kim said, I'm ready to go home, only because it was nine days. Yeah, it's a long time. Yeah, seven's a long time.
Starting point is 00:17:08 So, yeah, I don't know. But it was good for me. Well, good, man. All right. Listen, enough of my vacation. I'm glad you asked about it, though. Me too. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:21 Teledega. Oh, my God. There's a lot to talk about here. I mean, this race was unbelievable. As it went on, it was like, you know, okay, we got a typical Teledega race. You know, the first stage is won by Busher, and I'm thinking, oh, my God, here we go again. Surprise. Somebody not in the playoffs went to stage.
Starting point is 00:17:44 And I'm thinking, Busher once again takes stage points away. All right. So then we roll on, and the second stage, here comes the big wreck, right? One of the first, yeah, one of the two. Yeah, coming to the checkered. Blaney actually wrecked and got stage points. Man, and when he hits at Super Speedway tracks, he hits hard. He hits a ton.
Starting point is 00:18:07 Blaney every time I'm like, gosh, I wince every time I watch him hit the wall. I don't know what it is about him at those racetracks, but they're hard hits for sure. Did NASCAR get this right with these stage racing? Because would they have wrecked? I mean, they racked it like that was the end of the race. Yeah, no, they wouldn't have. I mean, that circumstance absolutely played into why they were act, right? Definitely brought up the excitement of, if nothing else, you know.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Because these points are so important. Even just, I mean, we're talking about Blaney. He got like, what, six points or something like that for crossing the line where he did? Like, that could come into play next weekend at the Roval. Absolutely. You know, so you're scrapping for everything. Yeah, I'm not so sure about people going, I wished it was like the old days. I don't like this stage race.
Starting point is 00:18:52 And I'm like, ah, if it would have been the old days, we all just went right across, Well, we wouldn't be in this situation, but still, the dynamic of, oh, my gosh, I got to go, go, go, and then they wreck out. And so the aftermath of that is, is his, is, is, okay. So, you know, that takes chastain out of the race, too. Yeah. So we got Blaney out of the race, chastain out of the race. And by the way, Alex just rolls on. unscathed. So we go to the, everybody's okay.
Starting point is 00:19:30 We come out of the infield care center and one of the reporters goes, tell us all about it, Ryan. And of course, he uses one of my favorite words. You can say it on here. I can't? We'll bleep you out. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Go for it. He says, Alex Spohman ran all the fuck over me. Wipe me the fuck out. He sure did. Is that exactly what he said or do you guys have the quote? Let me see if I can. find it. So he says the word
Starting point is 00:20:00 and it's heard over the loudspeaker. So, you know, when you do an interview after a wreck at Teledega, those loudspeakers work really good. So when you're doing an interview, you know, those 100,000 fans and the people sometimes through the network broadcast, they pick up on that background. And that was, in the middle of the race, that was the story. Ryan Blaney said, that's the headline. Breaking news, folks.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Yeah, yeah. But I mean, these are real emotions. I appreciate that he didn't have a filter on in that moment. You know? Absolutely. I don't want someone to bottle their emotions up and not tell us what they're actually feeling like. This is a tough moment.
Starting point is 00:20:50 You're racing for a championship. You're the defending champion. You're going to be upset. Show us that you're upset. It reminds me. I went to, when I was a kid, I went to Birmingham, Alabama. And Bobby Allison did not like cussing. He wants, he wanted everybody to use the word irk. So could you, could you imagine Ryan Blaney right now? He wrecked the irk out of me.
Starting point is 00:21:13 It hurts me. Yeah, that's it. So let's, let's use Bobby Allison's phrase. I am so disappointed in Alex Bowman. He really irked me. just don't work in my vocabulary that irks me the word irk irks me yeah you get irk by irk yeah yeah so all right that that was
Starting point is 00:21:34 that was a big moment and while we're on this subject we got to talk about Dale Jr. So Junior basically loses the championship because he says in an interview yeah
Starting point is 00:21:49 what was that phrase let me get that phrase exactly right. So Dale Jr. says, the interviewer back in the day, he goes, oh, my gosh, you've tied your father of the great Dale Sr. And Dale Jr. says, I ain't . . .
Starting point is 00:22:05 And that was it. They find him $25,000, I believe, and 25 points. 25 points, yeah. And there's a thought, Mike Davis and myself talked about this. That cost Dale Jr. may be the championship. So, I mean, listen, it seems like Teledega brings the cussing out
Starting point is 00:22:25 out of everybody. I mean, remember Tony Stewart's big rant back in the day? Let's run a figure eight around this place. I don't think we're wrecking enough cars. That's right. That was hilarious because Tony went into like acting mode. You know, he kind of had a real serious face and Tony Stewart is like, hey, let's wreck all the cars we can wreck, okay? Let's try to, oh, by the way, let's run around the track. Yeah, we'll split half the field. We're on half one way, half the other. All right, I got a
Starting point is 00:22:58 question for you now, since we're on this topic. Yeah. If you can recall the most angry you've ever been during an interview, you know, the most frustrated, like one of these type moments. Oh, yes. Oh, yes. I mean, I wanted to motherfuck up everybody. I mean, and here, it's no secret. I am a cusser. I cuss like a sailor. Here, I'm going to tell you something. This is funny. We just told Kenny he did you cuss in the show. Yeah, I'm all excited now because I know you're going to bleak me out. Okay.
Starting point is 00:23:31 But I'll slow up. So I stay at my mom's house last night. Judy Wallace, my mama. I love my mama so much. She won Powder Puff races. So my mom's a little bit of a tomboy. I open up the cabinet this morning to get a coffee mug out. And I found this.
Starting point is 00:23:51 It was a coffee mug. It said, a wise woman once said, F*** this. And she lived happily ever after. All right. Listen, don't get mad at me, everybody. I know we've gone off the wires here. Don't blame this segment on me.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Blame it on Ryan Blaney. On Ryan Blaney. It's all Ryan Blaney's fault. I love you, Ryan. Okay. Okay. So that's where we're at, okay, in the race. And then it's like, you know, they go around in circles and all of a sudden we're four wide. Like a fighter jet formation. It's not just four wide one row. It's like six or seven rows deep. Yeah. And what I have to add to this is back in my day, you know, there's Wallace talking about when he raced back in my day. And I told you guys this this morning.
Starting point is 00:24:52 When I race to Teledega, our cars were a little more unsettled than they are nowadays. So nowadays, I'm taking it, you know, and somebody will tell us this pretty soon. They must have been glued to the track because in my day, if my spotter said four wide, I'm like, oh, no. Get me out of this. And they're just running around. They're like, that's what we're going to do. I think it was a fuel-saving situation. So that's where you have to take this with a little grain of salt is.
Starting point is 00:25:22 They weren't running all, yeah, almost like they weren't. You couldn't, I mean, if you were in the middle of four wide, you can't go anywhere, right? There's nowhere you're trapped. Not affecting. You're just a sitting duck. Okay, you know what this reminds me of is when they're bicycle racing over there in Europe. And it's a 10-lap race. And what do they do?
Starting point is 00:25:41 They go very slowly. Yep. They all bunch up. They all bunch up. And they're like barely going. And like with a half a lap ago, I'm like, why don't we just start this race with a half a lap? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:52 and sprint. But so you're saying, Andrew, that they were just mosying along as we say down south. Boys, just going out there, mozie on around. Save me some gas. Yeah, I mean, like the door bumper clear guys yesterday, and they put it perfectly. I mean, this style of Super Speedway racing, it is so track position heavy because it's harder to pass in this next-gen car for whatever reason. And so now it comes to, can you save fuel? And it comes down to the last pit stop.
Starting point is 00:26:21 whoever can fill up the least amount of fuel the last pit stop have the shortest amount of time on pit road that's where you gain the track position that's where you end up winning or losing a race so that's like where that four wide racing comes in is everyone's fuel saving I mean it was cool it's an unbelievable spectacle but do you think that's the best
Starting point is 00:26:38 best thing for NASCAR no it's definitely not the best thing however it looked good as you go on it was really cool you go on social media right now and that's what NASCAR's showing. You know, it looked good.
Starting point is 00:26:55 And listen, my brother Mike said this once, and I'll never forget it. He said, people talk about, oh, my God, you only hit the wall at 120 mile an hour. And then my brother Mike said, try running into a concrete wall at 50 mile an hour. So they're still hauling ass, even if they're four wide. And although it might look like a ballet, it's still dangerous. it really is and you know four wide fills up the whole racetrack so it was a hell of a show and even it even if it was a gas mileage situation it was good optics it looked good it made me excited you know i'm like damn that that's awesome looking and then right away the racer in me is like how are they doing that
Starting point is 00:27:40 why are they doing that you know so here we are and we'll get to that in a little bit it's just all about this car i i don't to me this new car and it is like a Rubik's cube. It's like, you know, when they design this next-gen car, it's like, this car is going to be awesome. It's going to give the car owners what they want. And now when we start trying to line things, we can't get this rubricue to finish
Starting point is 00:28:08 because it's messing up this and it's messing up that. I mean, whoever thought that, I mean, fuel mileage in the middle of a race, you know, so I don't like. A super speedway of all places, too. Yeah. that's crazy I mean back in our day here we got Wallace here I go again right I mean if I was ever drafting off Dale Jr., which was hardly ever because he was gone but you know you ran half throttle behind him because you were drafting now they're just four wide pushing air and saying
Starting point is 00:28:37 they're and I get it but but I don't know you know it was it was pretty wild so all right listen we move on and there were so many storylines in this race right we We told you about, you know, the wreck, you know, Bush are taking away the points. Ryan's cussing. Four wide. That should have been enough. That should have been enough. But we needed to make history.
Starting point is 00:29:05 Ladies and gentlemen, it's Teledega history. Hey, you could do it because your voice. Oh, yeah. Let's get Dalton. Hey, give us something with that DJ voice. Ladies and gentlemen, we have made Talladega history with the largest wreck. ever recorded in NASCAR. That was good.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Chills. You got to put it on every once in a while. So I'm in the Minneapolis airport and got NBC on and everybody's like, you know, the normal thing, the big one. Say, oh, wow, okay, the big one. Then all of a sudden NBC puts it on there. That was the largest wreck in Teledega history, 28 cars. It was the biggest one. The biggest of all the ones.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Yeah. Big old number one. one. Okay, so let's break this wreck down. Here's what happens. Cendrick gets out too far, accidentally, whatever, okay? He gets out there. And, you know, listen, the great drafters, they say something that I agree with, but it's very hard to do. They say, okay, if you're leading the race and you get a big lead, you need to drag the break. That's if you got somebody behind you willing to do that with you. You know, when you're three and four wide and you're on the inside lane,
Starting point is 00:30:25 Cinderick gets out there now. Here comes Brad Keselowski with a head of steam. Now, Brad says, I'm going to ease up to him, all right, and that was Brad's idea. I'm going to ease up to him. I'm going to pop him in the butt, and we're going to roll on. Except Joey Legano is looking through Brad Kislauski's rear glass. So when you're drafting like that, all you see is the windshield, you know, through your windshield, through that guy's glass, you don't see anything. Now, you might, you might go, oh, we should be coming up on Cindric. And then all of a sudden it's stopped. So it becomes an according effect. Brad wants to bump Cindric, but now Joey Lugano and the whole field is just piling in.
Starting point is 00:31:18 wants to blame Brad. It's like, man, he had two people behind him shoving him into the two. I mean, we've seen Brad make a couple questionable bumps before. I think that's a given. But I don't put this one on him. I really don't. And I think that's why we had to break that down and explain to everybody. You know, Brad's intention was to just kind of pop him a little bit, roll on. But, you know, Joey can't see, Briscoe can't see. And that's where we're at nowadays, is we're just literally bumper to bumper. And I'm going to trust. the guy in front of me. And we all learned that. Remember that drafting that NASCAR outlawed, where we found out we could go 10 mile an hour faster if we made it each other? You know,
Starting point is 00:32:01 remember that? Locking bumpers. 10 years ago. Tandum. Tandum. Yeah, thank you, Andrew. You're, much smarter than me. I still got that Missouri. I'm over here going, I'm over here saying, getting two cars mated. I wish that ended up being the phrase. It should have been, yeah. They would have made headlines a little bit awkward. Yeah, they're mating out on the track right now. SVG would have said, hello, mate.
Starting point is 00:32:28 He'd be right at home. Here I am behind you. So they got experience doing that tandem drafting. Andrew, you're right on that. So nowadays, when you do this, you're like, oh, I've done this before in that tandem. I can't see anything, but I'm going to trust this guy in front of me. All right, moving on. We wiped the whole field out.
Starting point is 00:32:50 I mean, do it one more time? The largest wreck ever at Talladega. 28 cars. Okay. So we always had a wreck, and anybody that fired their motor up could fire their motor up and roll on back. And you're like, the spider's going, okay, I think we're going to need a right front fender. He's got a left front flat and everybody's getting ready, right? Here's the problem.
Starting point is 00:33:19 Now I'm going to exaggerate a little bit, but I'm going to make my point. 28 cars are stuck in the grass. And this whole DVP thing. What's that stand for again? Damage vehicle policy. Jeez. So now, I'm going to just start like this. Did you go on X and did you see the video from Joey Lagonal's car?
Starting point is 00:33:44 I did. Yes, it was like the same thing that happened. Was he yelling at the guy earlier this year? Last year, it was like the same deal. He's yelling at the workers to help him get going, right? So because the new next-gen car, the tires go flat, now the car's on the ground. It cannot go. And the DVP, listen, there is a complete policy of about flat tires.
Starting point is 00:34:09 And you want me to read it to you? Yes. So NASCAR sent this to me last week when I was asking for clarification, on Josh Barry, which if you remember, he spawned on lap one of the race, and they ended up, you know, basically deeming that he was a damaged car and that they weren't going to tell him back and his race was over. And told him to the middle of the infill with the fans. Yeah. He's just sitting out.
Starting point is 00:34:32 He's like, I'm with the fans right now. Josh, hang out here for a minute. Yeah. So it says, if your vehicle has anything more than slight or minor damage and you are unable to drive it back to pit road, then the track service official will communicate. to the driver and you will be out due to a DVP accident. So like, if that's the rule, what do we do on Sunday? Because that is like the opposite of the rule.
Starting point is 00:34:56 You know what Sterling Marlin would say? He'd say, a man ought to be able to spin out. So nowadays, if you spin out, you're certainly going to flatten a tire with these low-profile tires. Exactly, right. Now the car is sitting on the ground. So we have a 28 car wreck and Joey Lagonel's in-car camera. he's screaming through his helmet, pick me up, get me going. I mean, it's like a Mad Max movie where there's only one gallon of gas left in the world
Starting point is 00:35:26 and everybody's fighting over that, you know those movies? You ever saw those movies? I know exactly what you're talking about. And so the whole field wants to be towed in. And in front of Joey Legano's in car camera is Noah Glaxen just obliterating his motor. Banging it off the chip. He's trying to get his car out of the grass. And guess who's car they picked up pretty much first?
Starting point is 00:35:52 The number nine. Hey, facts are facts. It just is what it is. Okay. Elton Sawyer is a dear friend of mine. We raced in the Bush series together. It's the X-Fennity series, everybody, but, you know, same series. I don't think Elton and everyone.
Starting point is 00:36:12 everybody at NASCAR. This is what I'm talking about, the Rubik's Q. Now we got guys that spin out, and now you're kidding me. This is the perfect storm. The tow truck driver picks up Chase Elliott, our most popular driver, after Dale Jr. retired. But I mean, this is bad optics. And you know Elton is going, oh, my gosh, could you please just picked up somebody else? I mean, what is your thoughts?
Starting point is 00:36:41 What do you guys think about picking up the most popular driver like almost first? Yeah, optically you're right. It's not a good look, especially when you have other guys just sitting there like even someone like Noah, right? And he's trying all his might to get out, right? So I don't think there weren't enough tow trucks in the state of Alabama to get all those cars out. Correct. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:02 So, yeah, I get what you're. I totally agree with what you're saying. I'm mostly just confused on why are we now towing cars back to pit road? and now you can work on it and then even this is another thing we're talking about this on some of our other shows this week but NASCAR lifted the red and we go under yellow
Starting point is 00:37:21 but the field stays still the pace car and the field doesn't move but then all the wrecked cars are now back of their pit stalls and they can start working on the damage okay that's another element that I'm just confused. This whole thing just seems so backwards to me I don't want to put you on the spot and make you read it all
Starting point is 00:37:41 But there is way more to that DVP flat tire deal. And just because I think it's a little funny, okay, NASCAR is like, okay, people are having flat tires, they can't get back. Let's create rules. We're going to create rules when the cars can't go. Just read a couple of those lines now because there's way more to that. Yeah. So this is the flat tire recovery program. It says this program was put into place for vehicles not being able to make it back to pit road,
Starting point is 00:38:11 their own power due to flats, due to a flat tire or tires. It was never intended to tow damage vehicles on DVP back to pit road. And you could argue every car in that crash was a damaged vehicle. I mean, it was in the biggest one. It was in the biggest crash in history. And that, and if you keep on reading, it literally states, if you have a left rear flat, here's what we do. If both front tires are flat, here's what we do.
Starting point is 00:38:39 it's the right I mean it goes down to every corner of the car one or two front flat tires toe from the front of the car two rear tires toe from the rear of the car one rear flat tire push from the rear to get the car rolling then follow the car to pit entrance and then like it the list goes on and on this is crazy but they have these situations mapped out for every possible scenario and by the way
Starting point is 00:39:03 this is nothing new this has been in place since it says Auto Club 22 and they wrote that at the end so you would not combat them. And we've seen this since the beginning of this car. And I'm thinking they're so smart, they're going to fix this. And that's something that they said is after the Josh Berry incident at least, we're going to evaluate this over the offseason. Now, it seemed like the off season was six days in between races
Starting point is 00:39:35 because all of a sudden we've got a new procedure, it seems like, on how to handle this type of situation. But yeah, that's the biggest question mark. It's just, I guess, communication from NASCAR, if you're going to change the procedure, I would just be curious to know that you are doing that. God's got a sense of humor for sure. Because he's like, oh, you're going to wait for the offseason.
Starting point is 00:39:52 Well, how about 28 cars are going to wreck it? You've got to figure that out. I want to give a disclaimer because I know NASCAR's watching right now. We know this. I love NASCAR. Yeah. And it made me who I am. And I'm the biggest fan of NASCAR.
Starting point is 00:40:06 So much to where people always say, say, oh, Wallace is employed by NASCAR. But boys, we got to fix this. And I'm just being honest. And I know that they know it. But for the fans' sake, for everybody out there, we all know it. But, you know, here we are at the end of the year. And it's still not fixed.
Starting point is 00:40:26 And it could determine a championship. Could. Say this happens at Phoenix. Someone spins, gets a little bit of damage. Are you going to park them on the DVP? Put them in the campground. Which, by the way, for the rest, record, I'm glad they towed these cars back to pit road and let them change tires and let them
Starting point is 00:40:44 continue racing. It was confusing to figure out what was going on, but this was better than parking Josh Barry a week ago. Absolutely. So if this is the direction they go, I think I'm on board with it. I think you need to fix the next-gen car in terms of it not being able to run on flat tires, but I feel like if this is the direction we're going, I'm a fan of it. Let's end. And, and this little flat tire like this. Out of all, this is my, my thought. Out of everything that's wrong with the next-gen car, we've been through where it catches on fire, we fix that, seems like it.
Starting point is 00:41:24 Safety's much improved. Safety's much improved. To me, this is the problem that is going to be the Mac Daddy. How are they going to fix this? Because, you know, the geometry is already made for that. low profile tire. See, that's one of the biggest problems. That tire is such a low profile. If that thing had a little bit bigger circumference, you know, we wouldn't be in this situation, is my opinion. But it's a cool looking tire, though. And then when the tire goes flat,
Starting point is 00:41:55 now we're sitting, you know, on the bottom of the race car. So I think this is going to be a hard one to fix. It's going to be interesting winter. And I know that NASCAR is, looking at it right now. But it could be a deal where this could be the biggest redesign of the next gen. I just don't see us going forward with a man spinning out, have a flat tire, and can't go. All right. Are we done with that? I think we've covered it. As Larry McGrill said, I think we beat that like that old. Hey, everybody. I want to talk to you a little bit about safety culture. You may know safety culture's logo from Shane Van Gisbergin's car, but safety culture is a is more than just a sponsor.
Starting point is 00:42:40 It's also the workplace operations tool for the trackhouse racing team. And what does that actually mean? Well, the team uses Safety Cultures app to manage everything from pre-race inspections on the car to assembly checks and they even do some of their training on the app. Every race team has an incredible amount of individuals
Starting point is 00:42:59 that maybe don't even travel to the racetrack, work back at the shop, that are a big part of the success of that race team, preparing cars, getting them ready to go to the racetrack, and run these races and try to win checkered flags and ultimately championships. No matter what you're trying to achieve, no one has time to waste. From construction sites to factory floors, safety culture is designed to drive improvements not just in safety,
Starting point is 00:43:24 but broadly across quality and efficiency too. Are you ready to put your workplace in the pole position? Well, head to safetyculture.com slash SVG. Don't miss out on the South Point 400 NASCAR playoff race weekend in Las Vegas, October 18th through the 20th. Non-playoff driver. So now the race gets on rolling.
Starting point is 00:44:43 And we all know by now that Ricky Stenhouse wins again on the Super Speedways. But that is awesome. We love Ricky. But now he's the third driver that is shocking the playoff system. Let's go through this. We got Chris Busher. Watkins Glenn Ross Chastain who won Kansas and now Ricky Stenhouse
Starting point is 00:45:09 Yeah Talladega That's three of five That is more than 50% Of these playoff races have been won by non-playoff drivers And these drivers are not even in the playoffs No Yeah it's not like they got eliminated
Starting point is 00:45:21 And then one after they got eliminated Like all three of these guys Did not even make that 16 field And you go back to the stage points Stage 1 was won by Chris Busher So why are all these guys that aren't in the playoffs hauling ass now? What's that about? I think they've been good all season.
Starting point is 00:45:43 It's just we've had so many wild card winners. I mean, think about if Harrison Burton didn't win, if Austin Sindirk didn't win. I think even Alex Bowman won from outside of the top 16. These guys would be playoff drivers. And we have 18 different winners now, and the record is 19. Do you guys see another different winner coming soon? I mean, you've got a road course coming up this weekend, the Roval, which is kind of a wild card.
Starting point is 00:46:11 AJ Almondinger won this last year, so you could very likely see the 19th this weekend. SVG is in the field. I think there's a couple other ringers too, so it's not just AJ. There's a good chance that someone else wins. By God, it's a great year. We are setting records.
Starting point is 00:46:27 19 different winners, maybe. The biggest record. Tell a Degah history. We got, this is a, this is surprising to me, but I think it also leads to the point that this is how competitive it is. You're not lying when you say, okay, we're dropping the green flag and, you know, we usually start, every time I look at it, it's 38, 39 cars. It's easy to say that we got 25 cars that can win. You know, everybody always goes, man, this is really competitive.
Starting point is 00:47:02 There's 25 cars that can win on any given day. Well, that's true. You know, sometimes that's an exaggeration. But it's not an exaggeration nowadays. You think Kyle Bush wins a race? Oh, my Lord. By the way, he got hung out to try on the last line. Nobody went with them.
Starting point is 00:47:22 We should have put that on our sheet. That is a topic. Absolutely. That poor guy. Who's with me? Okay, how many championships has he won two? Yes. He's got two.
Starting point is 00:47:32 Okay, I like, I'm kind of a Saturday Night Live fan when they, people always say, Hey, Wallace, tell us a joke. I'm like, man, I don't have jokes. It don't work like that. I make fun of people, okay? So here's Kyle Bush, poor guy. You know, he's like, man, I'm a two-time champ. I'm going to pull out.
Starting point is 00:47:50 And I know they're all going to go with me because I'm the man. Nope. I mean, he goes from what, fourth position? Where did he finish? 20, I mean, 20 is something. Let me find it. It was big. It was way back.
Starting point is 00:48:06 He even said, I think, over radio, and I might be paraphrasing here, but he was like, he was like, these guys are idiots. How else are we going to get to the front and win if you don't follow me, basically? Like, he was like, that's your chance. You, to hop out of line, but no, we'll just stay in line and wait to see what happens. 19th. 19th. He goes, that was coming to the check.
Starting point is 00:48:24 Okay, we went past the white flag. He was like one and two. I think he jumped out. turns one and two, which, I mean, is that too early of a move at Talladega? No. No? Because you already got two lines that don't have any energy. They're tied.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Okay. Here, I'll look at it like this. I know times have changed, and I know I'm old. But if that would have been Dale Jr. or Dale Sr., the whole line would have went with them. Exactly. There is no more middle line. There's just the outside.
Starting point is 00:48:58 If that's Denny Hamlin or someone who's a legit, like, you know he knows how to race the speedway races. Kyle Busch knows how to race to the speedway. How many Super Speedway wins do you have? I mean, Denny's definitely, quote of a better. If it was like a Denny, or like you said, Dale Jr. or Dale Earnhardt, someone that you trust, you know they can get you to the front. Is that a different situation? I think times have changed so much. First of all, it was fun to go back for a minute right there.
Starting point is 00:49:23 If it was Dale Senior or Dale Jr., everybody would have definitely went with Kyle Bull. But nowadays, we're so far removed from the old days, I'm not even sure we have a hero. Do we have a hero? Who, okay, you said you would have went with Denny. And he's won three-day Tona 500? Yes. Yeah. I mean, okay, who else would we have went with?
Starting point is 00:49:49 I'm not so sure. Because, you know, I just don't know. And perhaps it's the car, too. like can you even form these types of runs anymore? Is it just passing that difficult? Yeah, was that move a shade of the old way of doing it? And he thought, I can get out and get this run. And then this new car just doesn't allow for that.
Starting point is 00:50:08 I don't know. Right. Well, anyway, that was a good topic. That was. And we forgot about that one. I'm Kyle Busch, man. I want two championships. You will go with me.
Starting point is 00:50:20 Follow me. Nope, poor guy. So he's disappointed once again. And, yeah, he, would Kyle Busch not winning, will that break a record for him? How many years in a row has he won? 19, I believe. It's a long time. So, okay, we have another record coming up in NASCAR.
Starting point is 00:50:44 Could this be the year that Kyle Bush does not win? I mean, I feel bad for him because he's a gamer. He's a winner. He'll always be a champion. He'll always be a winner, but I mean, you know, he's trying everything he can try. I mean, you've got Roval, you have Vegas, Homestead, Martinsville, Phoenix left. Those are the five opportunities he'll have. See, he's the guy that can win at any of them, like, at my opinion.
Starting point is 00:51:12 So you know what's going to happen? Kyle Bush is going to win Vegas because that's where it was born. That's good point. Story is right in itself. You believe in black helicopters, right? Oh, yeah. I mean, NASCAR is going to. Make him win.
Starting point is 00:51:25 Make him win. At Vegas. You have to. Because that's where he was born, damn it. That would be storybook, Kenny. Hometown hero. It would be pretty storybook. Okay.
Starting point is 00:51:36 I got one more question. This is not on our topic sheet, but this did come up, and it's the manufacturer games that have taken over Speedway Racing. And we saw Parker Retz-left get a bunch of crap for pushing the wrong manufacturer to the win at Daytona. And there was some spotter audio. Tyler Mon, who's Kyle Larson Spotter, I think told Kyle coming to the checker, don't push him to the win. He was behind Brad.
Starting point is 00:52:02 And he was behind Brad Casalski at Ford. And a Chevrolet, Ricky Stenhouse, won the race on the outside lane. That, at least to me, doesn't fully sit right, that we're racing for a win, but you can't push a certain manufacturer. Like, I think manufacturer games on the last lap should be out the window. Well, the good news is that SMT showed that Larson did stay on the throttle until the start-finish line. So, like, he did, even if the radio communication was there, I don't think it happened in time for him to let off. And he pushed Brad as hard as he could. But are these manufacturer games getting out of hand?
Starting point is 00:52:38 Yes, because it's all about winning the championship. You know, there's this old joke about the playoffs, right? If you're in the playoffs, you're a hero. Oh, by the way, there's 17th through whatever. they become like this stepchild. So if you go in the garage area, we started out at 16, right? Those 16 were the heroes.
Starting point is 00:53:01 You're in the playoffs. You're somebody. We love you. 17th through 40 are like, hey, you know you can still win a race if you want to. And it's almost like there's this separation in the garage area. Yeah. You brought up a good point about Parker Reds.
Starting point is 00:53:18 How do you say he's last? Reds laugh. Yeah, it's a tough name. It's a safe. Sorry, Parker, I love you. And I do. God, he's a skinny kid. I saw him at Hickory.
Starting point is 00:53:28 And I'm like, I didn't even know he was a race car driver. And boy, I'm like, that kid hauls ass for being that skinny. I mean, you just don't look like a race car driver, but Parker can flat drive a race car. Yeah. He's a hell of a talent. So here's my point. To answer your question, I have experience in this, okay? I was lucky in life in NASCAR.
Starting point is 00:53:52 did have sponsors. Toyota sponsored me for seven years. Chevrolet, Ford, Pontiac. If you're down the pecking order, if you're second or third, you know, hey, we're going to give you a free sheet metal, we're going to give you a wind tunnel time. Okay, they feed you a bone. And now all of a sudden they come over the radio and they want you to do something. And if you do it, so if Parker would have done what they wanted him to do, all that would have happened, I'm telling you, all that would happened, they would have said, hey, man, you're, you're part of the team. We love you. And they gave him a hug. He would not have received a car for his girlfriend or a wife. You see what I'm saying? The automakers would not have done anything for him. Now, that's my opinion. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:38 Okay. Now, Kyle Busch, you know, I know how this works. Okay. We sponsor you. You know, we're Chevrolet. We You're going to give you this much money to talk good about us. We're going to give you and your wife a car. Now we're talking. Now I'm going to do what you want me to do. So those are the, I wanted to break down. Those are the two scenarios. You know what I mean? It's like, Park's like, man, I'll only run the cup series. You wanted me to do what? And his talk afterwards was I was trying to win damn race. As he should have. Absolutely. And I'm on his side. If I'm racing for the win, I'm going to do that. I don't care what logo is in front of me. I'm going for it.
Starting point is 00:55:27 You know, we get down the end of this race, and now we've got to deal with Ricky Stenhouse is the winner. Where'd he come from? And I loved it. And what is the deal with Ricky Stenhouse? Are we sleeping on him at Super Speedways? Yes. He is, I mean, two in two years. It's a pretty big deal. Listen. I always throw a disclaimer out there before I get ready to say something controversial. So I'm going to say something real controversial. What you got, partner?
Starting point is 00:55:57 I love Ricky Stenhouse. We share the same sponsor, okay? Priority Aviation, Jennifer and Richard Marshall, they sponsor me. Okay. Ricky Stenhouse and Priority Aviation, they own a Sprint Car team. Sheldon Houghton. Okay, so the disclaimer is, I like Ricky Stenhouse. and he's a good driver.
Starting point is 00:56:20 However, and when I see Ricky, or when we talk to Ricky, I think people give up on Ricky. I think they give up on him. And here's my Saturday Night Live skit. Oh, Ricky Stenhouse, he just came when, oh, he won. Ricky is gifted by God. Just when you count him out, he wins. at the super speedways.
Starting point is 00:56:48 Especially. He's absolutely a player. But this season, at least to me, he's been quieter. And to your point, as soon as he gets real quiet, you kind of forget that he's a player, he comes in and strikes.
Starting point is 00:57:01 And I'll go even more controversial. As soon as everybody gets ready to talk bad about Ricky Stenhouse, he wins. And I'm going to throw another one out there. Nobody talks about SVG winning all the road course races. nobody talks bad about
Starting point is 00:57:17 AJ Almonding or winning all the road course races Okay look if I told you two We're going to hire a cup driver And he's going to win But he's only going to win at these racetracks Would you hire him? Yes Yes absolutely
Starting point is 00:57:34 He's going to win Andrew I'm not convinced by your smirk Who are my other options Oh jeez Boy you two are divided Yeah it tends to be that way Happens a lot And this is no shade at Ricky because, like he said, and I think to his credit, people give him a hard time a lot of the times about him racing too aggressive at the speedways, causing the big ones, the big crashes.
Starting point is 00:57:59 But this seemed like a very non-controversial win from him. Well, he did a great job. And I mean, people say the same thing about Brad like we were talking about earlier, but he's got a bunch of wins at Super Speedways. So to that point, if you wreck somebody and you win, you know, listen, Earnhardt's made that famous. You know, I remember there it was, my man, Jr. Knocking the hell out of that cube ball-headed fool. Remember, remember Jr. Todd Bodein?
Starting point is 00:58:35 Yes. Popped him out of the way. So I think our sport went from Knock him out of the way I need to win this race to where he shunted me You know now we Now we are in a society where He hit me
Starting point is 00:58:50 He should have never done that It seemed like the old days were the rugged days They always say if you're going to knock me out of the way You better win or you better get away from me So Ricky upsets people But then he usually goes on to the win is
Starting point is 00:59:09 I can see Andrew is not committed on this I don't know I mean he's got four career wins and oh that's all I want to say so right seems like he won 20 to me he was a terror in the Bush series
Starting point is 00:59:25 but he's won a Daytona 500 he's won I think he's won two Daytonans two Talladegas is that right he's got two and two he only won the Daytona 500 yeah just a little
Starting point is 00:59:38 And he won that last year. Yes. This year was William Byron. Byron won and then, yeah, because Stenhouse won on the Monday last year. Is that because of my age that I married both years together? Why do I think Ricky Stenhouse won the Daytona 500 this year? Because I'm old? Yeah, probably.
Starting point is 00:59:54 I think it is. I really do. You're going to have to answer that one for us. Man, it seems like the years are flying by. Okay, so Ricky wins the race. And we just addressed that. He shocks people. just when you think he doesn't deserve to be in the Cup series, he wins.
Starting point is 01:00:11 So now, I mean, he's a winner. That's all there is to it. He works out a lot. This guy's got lots of energy. And all his dear friends, you know, like Nick Hoffman, Gordy Gundaker, these are his best friends. Gordy Gundaker is a good dirt racer from Missouri. Nick Hoffman lives here, he builds the elite dirt car. And they're his best friends.
Starting point is 01:00:34 And they say his nickname is Slick Rick. because he always looks good. He was on American Ninja Warrior, wasn't he? Oh, yeah. Yeah. So Ricky Stenhouse's nickname. So Gordy on X goes, Slick Rick, one again. So he gets out of the car. His hair looks really good.
Starting point is 01:00:54 As it always does. Lots hair. Looks good. And he works out. Okay, so good drivers do win. They have lots of energy. Now he's got it all covered. And now we think he's going to fly up
Starting point is 01:01:06 fly up, we think he's going to go up to the flag stand and grab the flag. No. Not at all. Jungle Jim. He American Ninja Warriored himself up to the top of that catch fence. He goes to the flag stand so he can walk from the flag stand over to the fence, which is 30 feet in the air. I think he climbed the fence first, climbed over the fence, then hopped over to the flagstand, and then did that little railing slide all the way down.
Starting point is 01:01:36 the railing. Yeah, slid down the ladder. Whatever it was. The path was quite incredible. And then, here's the part that shocked me. I was waiting for the interview on big time TV. And I'm waiting for him to go, well, you know, and he's not even out of breath. So he's good looking.
Starting point is 01:01:58 He wins the race. He becomes jungle gym, and he still can go more. It's got to be tough to be Ricky. I'm going to wrap it up like this. Ricky Stenhouse is a badass. Let's look at these playoff. Sure. These standings.
Starting point is 01:02:14 Who wants to do that? Our announcer? At the top, we have William Byron, who has advanced to the next round. Via points. So they're off to a good start. Then you got the usual suspects of Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, Danny Hamlin,
Starting point is 01:02:30 who ended up having a good day. That crash, that big crash. That's another conversation. Can we stop right there? Absolutely. Until Ricky calls? Absolutely. I'm going to serve it up to you too. I've got a stat here too.
Starting point is 01:02:41 So the point standings before and after, lap 185, Denny was minus 17. Then the big crash happens, and he is plus 30. Okay, let me ask. 47 point swing. Let me ask one question before I serve it up. How many wins does Denny have this year? Two, three. Three or four, I think.
Starting point is 01:03:03 Okay, I'll take a shortcut. Denny's a winner. He's got multiple wins this year. So the question is that strategy. And he finally admitted, I believe, on actions detrimental, or there was a pitcher, it was on X, and he's talking to Michael Jordan, and he comments on X, just simple, two words,
Starting point is 01:03:26 strategy worked. I think there was a time after race, then he's like, oh, we had front-end damage. I'm like, come on, man. to me that damage was not enough. So his strategy, because he admitted it on X, was to let them wreck. And they wrecked.
Starting point is 01:03:47 Is that a good strategy? It's risky. I mean, he tried something similar at Atlanta and he barely made the next round. I said then that he was one wreck away from looking like the smartest guy on the track. And at Talladega, he looked like the smartest guy on the track in a way. I mean, other than the winner, right?
Starting point is 01:04:08 So Denny Hamelin is plus 30 going into the Roval, right? I mean, hypothetically, you don't got to be perfect. Where's he got to finish at the roval? And this is the last race until we're going to the next round of playoffs. I think he just needs a solid day. You could probably get away with a top 15, maybe. If you go for stage points, that's going to be the best. biggest thing. I mean, he can definitely be knocked out. Right. Yes. Oh, absolutely. 30 is not safe.
Starting point is 01:04:38 But it's comfortable. I think you can sleep a little better at night versus the situation he was in before that lap 185 crash. Yeah. His strategy worked and that's all there is to it. So you can't talk bad about a guy that just, you know, showed you the way. Lord knows, you know, that are most likely going to wreck. Yeah, at some point. I mean, I'd love to see the stat. When have they not wrecked? Right. That's right. Exactly. Yeah. Okay, so you were at fourth with Denny Hamlin. Then we go to Alex Bowman, who has put together a very, very good playoffs. I feel like, yeah, that's one of the bigger surprises. I shouldn't be surprised by him, but I am. You know, like, I'm more surprised once we get further down the list, right? You have Ryan Blaney. He's right about where he was, not necessarily
Starting point is 01:05:30 last year because he won a couple races, but he's within striking distance, I think. One second. Ryan Blaney wrecked out. But do you guys agree what keeps him in six is stage points? I agree. I do agree. And that big crash. He was plus five.
Starting point is 01:05:46 He was plus five before the big one and then he ended up being plus 25 after that big crash. Interesting. Yeah. That is wild. Okay. Keep on going. Then we have Tyler Reddick who was our regular season champion and he is in seventh and then you have chase elliot at plus 13 so on the outside looking in in ninth go ahead i'm not going to no you're good uh we have joey lagano which to me is the biggest
Starting point is 01:06:11 surprise i mean two-time champion right guy can win anywhere proved it to us and he is outside the bubble right now to me that's if i'm joey i'm a little scared um then you have daniel sweris which by the way whole thing with him at the beginning of the race him you know blending in in the middle of the pack trying to get in line, I get it, but ended up costing him. He cleared himself, by the way. Daniel swore as the spotter did not say clear because I listened to it.
Starting point is 01:06:37 He's going inside, outside, inside, er, you know, so. Yeah, go ahead. And then Austin Sindrick and Chase Briscoe, which, you know, nothing against those guys, we knew it was going to be an uphill battle for them to kind of climb out of those spots.
Starting point is 01:06:53 And I think it's commendable that Chase made it into the round of 12. and Austin Cendrick, obviously, if he didn't get wrecked, you know, at the front of the field, he's a pretty good super speedway racer, too. So there's no telling where he would be. I want to talk about Chase Briscoe for a minute. Okay. I did not have it on my bingo card.
Starting point is 01:07:14 Joe Gibbs believing in him that much. Does that surprise you? Chase is a good race car driver. Would there have been a better choice? I mean, however, Joe Gibbs knows what he's doing, you would think, but then also, let's go back. He let Joey Legano go. Joe Gibbs racing, let Joey Legano go, and Roger Penske says, okay, we'll take him. I think he's ready.
Starting point is 01:07:43 Do you guys think Joe Gibbs learned from that and said, okay, we think Chase Briscoe, do you think that's the situation? This is interesting, like, is this going to be a Joey Legano situation for, Chase Briscoe. Yes, is it? Going to Joe Gibbs racing because he's at a... Now, SHR has struggled. There's no question there that that race team as a whole has had issues. But, I mean, winning a race, I mean, winning one of the hardest races...
Starting point is 01:08:10 Darlington. Darlington is no fluke. There's no lucking yourself into that. So he clearly has the talent and the ability. Yeah, I don't know. When you're talking about other options, I'm trying to think off the top of my head, who would have been a better choice? and I'm not sure if I can think of one.
Starting point is 01:08:26 I'm laughing to myself because if there was a hidden camera, you know, like a looking live, when Chase Briscoll, wins Darlington, and they show you Joe Gibbs, he's probably doing Rick Flair. Woo! Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 01:08:40 We got a good one. I'm looking good now, boys. Everybody's like, you know. So yeah, all right, there it is, everybody. That's the top 12. And just a reminder that the roval, this is it. So, man, I'll tell you what.
Starting point is 01:08:54 NASCAR designed this crazy. I think they designed it to where there'll be Bedlam. Oh yeah. Complete chaos. Yeah, and they have that new layout too. Coming into, I don't know, I guess is it turn seven or eight
Starting point is 01:09:07 or one of the ones going back on a big track? They have a big old hairpin, you know, going into turn one on the big track. So it'll be interesting to see what happens there. Yeah. There'll be a lot of chaos. Then after the roval, where do we go? Vegas
Starting point is 01:09:25 Vegas should be a That's something that is surprised me I did not see the mile and a halfs being that good But boy they have been good Oh it's like we're the next gen car It was made for the mile and a half Yeah
Starting point is 01:09:38 Yeah Yeah If they could replicate that Everywhere else somehow Are I'm all about it Are the fans still mad about Bristol Are they still mad about it? It's a great question
Starting point is 01:09:51 I mean, we had such high expectations going into that second one. And I think it was just such a letdown because everyone was saying the tires are going to react the same. The conditions are going to be similar. Like we're going to have another race like the spring. And it just didn't pan out that way for, I don't know, I don't know, a number of reasons perhaps. But it was, we thought we had something. And we thought we found the fix. It's in the tire.
Starting point is 01:10:20 and then you see that the tires didn't perform the way, and you're like, oh, all right, maybe we got to go back to the drawing board here. I think, of anything, the fans are a little jaded. I think they just kind of, like, Bristol came and went, and they were mad, and then, like, you have this Talladega thing, right, with the DVP and the four-wide saving fuel, and it's like, well, here's another thing to kind of react to.
Starting point is 01:10:41 So it's like, you're knocking dominoes down one by one. I don't think that the, I don't think that Bristol is still, it's probably in the back of their mind, it's not in the front of their mind. What do you think? Well, let's do this real quick. And I'm going to give you my opinion on that. Okay, so we go to the Roval. Then where do we, what do we finish the year out?
Starting point is 01:11:00 Vegas, Homestead, Martinsville, Phoenix. Should be a good, should be a really good, because those racetracks are all on the wall. Homestead's on the wall. Yeah. You know, Vegas is going to be on the wall. Turns one and two for sure, maybe not three and four. Why is that?
Starting point is 01:11:19 I think it's the way the sun hits the track, just my opinion, and the way the banking feeds in. When you enter turn one, it's flat, then goes banking. When you go down to the back straight away, it's got banking as you're entering. Interesting. Yeah, okay. Answering your question, I think we, and I've been saying this on some of my Kenny Wallace shows, I believe we are in a big societal shift nowadays. I believe, and I don't want to get too deep,
Starting point is 01:11:52 but I think we all expect too much out of NASCAR nowadays. You know, it's like old Chocolate Meyer says, you know, when he was on Series XM Channel 90, he'd say, let me remind you the good old days, Kale Yarborough won by two laps. You know, the great Daytona 500, Dale Jr. blew by Tony Stewart and just won by himself. Let me, you know, those were the good old days.
Starting point is 01:12:18 Nowadays, Ricky's Tenhouse wins by 0.006, and oh, it's a wreck fest. But it was a hell of a race. You know, so I think we have a big societal shift, meaning that, oh, my God, snowmobiles are doing backflips now. Monster Jam, they don't race anymore. What they do is the trucks flip and their bodies fly off. Do you see what I mean? Yep, evolving. You two are very young.
Starting point is 01:12:48 but it used to be about the race. You know, okay, no cautions at Bristol. In my day, it was a celebration. Man, what a race. There was no cautions nowadays. You know, and then people are forked tongue. They speak out of both sides, right? They'll go, Herman, I didn't want Rex.
Starting point is 01:13:15 I just wanted tires to wear out, And I wanted pit stops and see what I mean? They won it all. That's where I think we're at right now. Is every race, and Gluck started this. You know, Jeff Gluck's probably, now this is a comedy, Jeff, don't get mad. This could be a little bit of Jeff Gluck's fault because he started. The good race pool.
Starting point is 01:13:39 He started judging races. We never judged races. We never judged races. You know, Dale Jr's football team, the Washington commanders, he would love a 41 and nothing game. But nowadays, if that thing is not 2724, we're mad. Right.
Starting point is 01:14:01 I think that's where we're at in society. I don't even think it's so much NASCAR. NASCAR, yeah, they deserve some of the blame. And I'm going to finish like this. And then you guys give me your opinion. The height of NASCAR Now this is going to shock a lot of people The height of NASCAR
Starting point is 01:14:20 The biggest NASCAR ever was was 2006 And it was all because of Dale Ernart Jr. He's bigger than big I mean Dale Jr. is so powerful So famous that it is a phenomenon He saved the sport after we lost his father.
Starting point is 01:14:41 We get to 2008 and then we have the financial downfall everybody gets their houses take back from them. Oh, by the way, a couple more years, everybody retires. Rusty Wallace a little bit earlier, but Tony Stewart, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labani. To me, and that was long-winded, I know, but I was ready. That's why I think it's so hard right now. There's an old saying. There's no pleasing anybody for anything nowadays. And you see it in hockey, you see it in baseball. They're changing all the sports. I like that thought, but I would be curious to hear from the race winner who has called in.
Starting point is 01:15:22 Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is here. Ricky, you look good, buddy. Thanks, Kenny. How are y'all? Man, we are talking all about you. We're talking about how great your hair stayed in Victory Lane. It looks good again today. Yeah, I try and look my best. My wife keeps me in tip-top shape. She She makes sure I don't look bad leaving the house. Let's have a little fun right away, and then we'll get to the serious part. Your best friends in life, Gordy Gundaker, Nick Hoffman, Gordy gets on X and he goes, Slick, one again. They love you, man.
Starting point is 01:16:12 You were not out of breath after that Victory Lane celebration, and I said that's because he works out so much. How in the world were you not out of breath? A lot of adrenaline. You know, when you win races, I feel like you definitely aren't tired. You have a hard time going to sleep. And, you know, it had been a year since, a little over a year since we had won a full season. So, man, I was ready for that win and felt really confident in our car the whole time.
Starting point is 01:16:43 But, yeah, I got done celebrating there doing my interview on the front stretch. and my guys were like, hey, we're going to climb the fence with you. I was like, okay, that's what we're going to do. And so I started climbing, and then all of a sudden I got to the top. And, you know, most fences have like an overhang on them. And, you know, that one didn't. So I just went up and over and saw some fans that, you know, I went up in a suite earlier, you know, in the day and didn't appearance.
Starting point is 01:17:13 And I saw a family and some kids that had an Ole Miss shirt on that I recognized. I was from the suite. So they were down there. I went over there and gave them high fives and turned around and asked the officials like, hey, you got a gate to open up. And they're like, no, you got to go back the same way he came. So that was, that's why I had to go back up and over. Okay.
Starting point is 01:17:36 Let's get to the tough part first. And I already did my disclaimer. And you know that you and I share something in common. That's dirt racing. Jennifer, Richard Marshall, you are a part owner of the dirt. team. So you know I care about you. People say, well, Ricky, and then you win. You win at the most timely of times. Tell me your thought of always getting that win. And listen, you don't win the little ones. You win the big ones. What do you say to people out there that, you know,
Starting point is 01:18:14 well, Ricky Stenhouse, he doesn't deserve, oh, he won again. Your timing's You know, I think, yeah, yeah, I mean, timing is always is always a great thing. I think for us, you know, we know where our strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to, you know, throughout the schedule of these races. You know, we try and put ourselves in the best possible position. We put a lot of effort into the Speedway program on as far as like, you know, the race strategies and getting my car to handle, you know, taking pushes really well, you know, things along. along those lines and you know do a lot of studying and you know I felt like in my
Starting point is 01:18:55 Xfinity series days I didn't really enjoy the speedways because I felt like it you know was just difficult I didn't really understand it and we were so fast at all the other race tracks that I was like hey let's just get through the speedways and get back to mile and a halfs for short tracks and go win those and you know my cup career I finally I felt like kind of figured what speedway racing takes. And, you know, so I've got a lot of confidence every time we go to a speedway race. And yeah, I mean, you know, that puts us, you know, two wins in the last two seasons, which is huge in this sport. I mean, it's, it's tough to do. You know, I wish it was easy. I wish we won as much as we did in the nationwide series back in the day. But that's not in the
Starting point is 01:19:45 the cards right now. And, you know, I think, you know, a race a year, a single car team, we're working hard to perform at all the race tracks. And we're getting better at those tracks. And, but you got to take advantage of those tracks that you have really good opportunities at. And, you know, that's what we've been trying to do. I like what you said. You take advantage the opportunity and those are the tracks. So I asked John Forced this one time, what is the one thing that you have on the Super Bowl? Super Speedway tracks that they don't have. Is it confidence?
Starting point is 01:20:21 I think confidence goes a long way on Super Speedways. I was hanging out with Larson last night. And he said he was probably more excited than I was because he finished, I think he got his second top 10 on the Speedway. He said, and got a top five or whatever. So, you know, I think he might not have a lot of confidence going into a Speedway race. And I would say for a long time, you know, I felt like I was capable. of getting good finishes, but I didn't know what it took to win until we won our first race at Talladega back in 2017.
Starting point is 01:20:54 And then all of a sudden we followed that up with another win at Daytona like eight races later. So I feel like that brought a lot of confidence. And then, you know, obviously win the Daytona 500. Put yourselves in position at multiple races, you know, a finish second a couple times, you know, close to winning races, you know, by inches. And so, yeah, I think confidence goes a long ways. But I think there's, you know, other aspects of speedway racing that it takes to be good at. And you got to have a good handling car that can take pushes. You know, I think we sacrifice a little bit of speed for a little bit of handling.
Starting point is 01:21:31 And that allows me to go do the things that I need to do with, you know, side drafting and, you know, how to play with the throttle and, you know, keep those guys, you know, kind of hooked up to my back bumper. So there's still a lot that goes into it. it's not just hold it wide open and see what happens. Your friend, Kyle Larson, as we know, is one of the bravest souls there are, like you, like you. But NBC caught him on the, you know, on his radio after a near wreck going down to back straightaway, four wide. And Kyle Larson said that was the most nerve-wracking, you know, he said that was enough.
Starting point is 01:22:13 So what is your thought on that race at Teledago? Was it different than all the other ones we've seen? We've seen more four wide than ever. Was Kyle right? Was it too much? I don't know about too much. But, you know, it's been a long time since we've been four wide for that long and not had any issues.
Starting point is 01:22:39 You know, we had issues when we were too wide. You know, because, you know, we're saving fuel, and this is nothing new. It's not like it's a new car, whatever gen we're in. Next gen. Yeah, whatever it is. You know, like we were saving fuel with our old cars. We just did it in a single file line around the top, you know, and a lot of people complained about that. You know, now people are complaining that, you know, we're saving fuel a lot of these races,
Starting point is 01:23:11 but at least we're four wide. That's got to account for something, at least some cool pictures. But, you know, it was wild. You know, when TAB, my spotter came over the radio, said, hey, y'all are four wide. Or I think you told me there was, it was four wide, like two or three rows behind me.
Starting point is 01:23:28 And at that moment, we were still three. And then all of a sudden, I had two lines in my mirror, and I was trying to block both so that my line would stay three wide. I eventually felled, and we ran around four wide for a long time. and I actually felt pretty comfortable doing that. I was the second lane up from the bottom, so there was still two lanes on the outside of me. But, you know, Talladega is a lot wider than Daytona.
Starting point is 01:23:56 Three wide at Daytona feels tight, four wide at Talladega. I actually felt like we had a little bit more room if somebody wanted to make it five, I guess. Let's end like this, Ricky. You mentioned it. You're a single car team. we know a win is big. What don't the fans or what don't I know?
Starting point is 01:24:16 What does that win do for your team? What are some things that we don't know that helps your team with that big win? Well, I mean, you know, coming with, you know, wins is, you know, in this sport is, you know, just a lot of opportunities that you need to take advantage of. And, you know, I felt like I did a really good job of that and my team after the 500. you know, just not saying no to really anything, you know, jumping on, you know, this, this podcast or, you know, doing, I got two or three more lined up today. And, you know, just taking advantage of that, telling the story of our team, you know, single car team, not a ton of employees.
Starting point is 01:24:56 It takes every single one of them to do what we do. And, you know, we got great partners that have been in this program a long time with, with this Croker Racing, you know, program. And we had the Colgate Palm Olive car. You know, at Talladega and we got, you know, a different one every weekend. We've got a lot of great partners that are in this program. And so, you know, to be able to showcase, you know, their products and their support of our team, but also, you know, looking ahead to, you know, the rest of the season, but also, you know, going into the off season.
Starting point is 01:25:28 It's been a long time. I've never won one, you know, this late in the season. So I'm interested to kind of see how that kind of trickles into the off season. you know, carry that momentum into February and try to, you know, always trying to land more sponsorship. You know, it takes dollars to do what we do. And, you know, wins always help that. Here all along, I thought you were going to say we get to put a new banner in the shop. Well, that's it. That's it. Ricky, thanks so much for being on Dale Jr. Download, Jr.'s out on vacation.
Starting point is 01:26:01 So the Herminators, thanks for filling in for them. Yeah, buddy. All right. Hey, big win. There he is. Slick Rick wins the big one. See you later, Ricky. See you. The NASCAR lawsuits. The story's a week old, but we have something new. People are at least talking now.
Starting point is 01:26:24 Michael Jordan. He shows up at Teledega. And I didn't know what to think. I thought, is he going to show up there or not? I thought maybe he wouldn't. But he did. So here's what I've, think is a nice, nice quote. So Jordan Bianchi, before the race, Michael Jordan says, and this is
Starting point is 01:26:48 quote, we want a fair deal, but this wasn't fair. I didn't just file it for me. It's for everyone. So let's just talk about that. I mean, front row and, you know, 2311, they're the only two go into this. Do you believe Michael Jordan? Did they do this for the whole sport? Or do you think there's, and I'll even expand. Do you think there's car owners right now going, all right, he did what we can't do? You know, we got a lot of answers last week. We had the Jeffrey Kessler, the lawyer for 2311 and FRM on DJD Reloaded. And Jeff and Jordan did an emergency podcast of their own on the teardown. And there were a lot of questions like that answered. I mean, I think even Jordan said anonymously, someone said they had the guts to do something
Starting point is 01:27:40 that I didn't do. So I do think, and when you have someone like Michael Jordan saying something like that, like that's a big, big deal. So I think his words are carrying a lot of weight right now. You know, there's always how much money does that guy make? So, you know, listen, Air Jordan, the movie, I watched it. It's a good one. Oh, my God, it's so good.
Starting point is 01:28:02 Yeah. And at the end of the movie, you know, the movie's over and the things are rolling. And it says to this day, Michael Jordan is earning over $40 million because of his swoosh being on those shoes. So here's a guy that's got 40 million rolling in. I think he's the only one out of all the owners. I know Roger Pence, he's extremely wealthy, but Roger, you know, that's a whole different. deal. He's got dealerships and, you know, A and B, you know, Penzo gives him oil for his dealerships. I mean, if he were to go about that, if Roger Penske would have done it, it really would have
Starting point is 01:28:44 messed a lot of things up because Roger Penske's whole line of business is connected to racing. And he has said that. That's not me. I think Michael was the one to go after this. number one, he has the money, he has the knowledge from, you know, the NBA. That's my opinion. But I want to talk about something that surprised me a little bit. For all the fans that I hate NASCAR, some of them are upset. They want to hate on NASCAR, but they don't want to kill NASCAR. They just want the right to complain about NASCAR.
Starting point is 01:29:25 And some of these fans, a large portion is like, why do they? doing that. Do you all see what I see out there in social media where some fans are upset? Absolutely. That, you know, they went after them. Yeah, all the time. It's, and it's kind of one of those things you mentioned earlier, like you can't please everyone. You know, like it's, if it's all NASCAR or all team or, you know, having some sort of mix of both, someone's going to say somewhere, well, I don't agree with that. What I think is interesting is, and this is kind of the new developments, right, because this dropped last week, but now we're having dialogue at the racetrack
Starting point is 01:30:03 where Denny's speaking out about it in a press conference. Michael Jordan is talking about it. Even Kyle Larson is talking about how driver salaries are going down. So it's like this is going to do a lot more than just, the lawsuit itself is going to play out in court as it will, but this is opening up even more conversation about the state of the sport, and I think it's a really pivotal time to be paying attention. to all these types of things.
Starting point is 01:30:29 Brother Rusty always says, Herm, you've got to remind them because they remember what they want to. Was Kyle Larson's quote, the biggest quote of the weekend, where he says what you just said, this is the only sport in America where the salaries have gone way down.
Starting point is 01:30:47 I had Kyle Larson on Kenny conversation, and he says there's drivers out there that cannot pay, you know, for their disability insurance. I mean, have known fact that there are some really good cup drivers out there making $250,000 a year, which is good money in the real world. But when you're cheating death, you know, which you are, man, you know, 39 races a year. Those are real, those are real salaries we're hearing. So,
Starting point is 01:31:17 Kyle Larson, was that the quote of the weekend? Or what was the quote of the weekend? Certainly one of them. I mean, that, that I feel like we have not talked about. in a while is driver's salaries. And it's not public knowledge even. So to have him a very big name right now in the sport, you could say he's a championship favorite. He's a champion to come out and start talking about that, I think is pretty significant. I think the honorable mention for quote of the weekend goes to Ryan Blaney. Yeah, right. But no, I think Michael's, I think Michael's words just rings a little bit louder. There were a lot of big quotes that came out of Teledega. a good point. Of course, we just read Michael Jordan's quote. You get the quote from Kyle Larson.
Starting point is 01:32:04 This is the only sport where salaries have gone down. You get the Ryan Blaney, fun-loving quote. Some people don't think it was. I think it's better than punching something. Absolutely. You know, the F word is much better than breaking your knuckles. And we've seen that. you know we've seen that I I filled in for for Kyle Petty because he punched the side of his truck I filled in for Kyle Petty at Bristol because he broke his hand because he was so mad that's wild so man that's it Teledega I mean does it ever disappoint I always look forward to Taledaca weekend I don't think so I think we've got some figuring out to do with the next gen and some of the fuel saving and the ability to pass,
Starting point is 01:32:53 but I mean, those are the ones that, you know, I get texts from friends who don't watch NASCAR, but they watch Talladega, they watch Daytona. I mean, it's one of the only tracks.
Starting point is 01:33:04 Car package or not. It's still an iconic crown jewel racetrack. Yeah. It's one of the only tracks has a song after it. That's right. It's a big deal. Gosh, Ronnie Bouchard. If you go back,
Starting point is 01:33:18 it's called NASCAR goes country. It's an eight track. And all the drivers, yeah, Ronnie Bouchard. We need another one of those, current cup field. Oh, man. No, we really do. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Starting point is 01:33:33 Who do you think would play ball, though? All we want here at Dirty Mo Media is we want 2%. Right now, we are going to, we're announcing, okay, I'm joking, everybody. Okay, but hold on. Back then it was NASCAR's country. What about now? is it NASCAR goes rocking,
Starting point is 01:33:53 NASCAR goes right, Mark the kid Martin. Hey. Gucci Maine, baby. Gucci Maine, you soft as toilet paper. I never thought in my life I'd hear that come out of Mark Martin. You soft as toilet paper. He is so funny. Excuse me?
Starting point is 01:34:08 Come again? Yeah, what? Yeah, so NASCAR goes country. I think Nashville is where it's happening. I think we keep it there in that genre. Absolutely. That was maybe 40 years ago. It was in the 70s.
Starting point is 01:34:24 1975. Who's our best singer in NASCAR? Ooh, boy. Besides me. Who do you think would do it? Oh, well, we know Denny will. Yes, Denny would. All right, so we'll sign Denny up.
Starting point is 01:34:36 Tyler Reddick. Reddick. Oh, Noah Graxon. He'll do any. He's awesome. Cindric, I bet you would do it. You think? I think he would, yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:46 Maybe Bell. You think Bell would do it? He would have fun. The bigger bet is Blaney. Blaney. Delta Dawn. What's that flower you have on? All right, I started it.
Starting point is 01:34:59 There we go. All right. NASCAR goes country to show you that we're going to put our money where our mouth is. All three of us are going to sing six seconds. Just give me six seconds of something. I got to think of a good song. I'll do it. You start us off.
Starting point is 01:35:18 Because we were just at Tallade. Yes. And I'm an Eric Church fan. Yes. Go ahead. Talladega boys raised up. Whiskey in your glass. And it's here's to, what is it? Turn it up. Turning up and slowing down.
Starting point is 01:35:32 Cars that go real fast. Kenny, I want to hear you sing. We were laughing. Tell me about the good old days. That's good. Sometimes it feels like Teledega's gone crazy. All right. We embarrassed ourselves.
Starting point is 01:35:47 so you all, Dick Trickles said it best. I'm amongst friends, so we don't embarrass ourselves. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. Sometimes I forget people listen to this podcast. There is an audience out there. There is an audience. All right, it's time for the white flag. As I say, white flag is in the air.
Starting point is 01:36:12 What do you guys got? Well, the teardown with Jordan, Bianchi, and Jeff Gluck dropped right after Talladega. Absolutely. It's like the best post-race coverage. I think we can get on Dirty Mo Media. call it the tear down. And they had a lot to say about all the different things that went down. Yeah. Then you had actions detrimental with Denny Hamlin come out and he had quite a lot to say. I think a lot of people were waiting on, you know, his comments on 2311 lawsuit, his strategy during
Starting point is 01:36:39 the race, right? So he spoke a link about that. They had a wheel of topics. They literally had a spinning wheel. And they just spun the wheel and whatever it landed on. That's what we're going to talk about. You've got to see it. Because the ideas just keep on coming. Yes, absolutely. Door bumper clear. I was actually the fill-in. host for that show yesterday. It was a lot of fun. It was good to be back on DBC. Came out on Skate. Yes, I survived it. But Brett Freddie, T.J., they all had strong opinions, especially about the towing situation, the lifting the red, going under yellow. So there were a lot of good hot takes from that show. Yeah. And then on Wednesday, we are going to have Speed Street.
Starting point is 01:37:12 I wore my Speed Street shirt for that. Connor Daly and Chase Holden. They bring it every week. I love listening to that show. If you haven't listened to it yet, go give it a listen. Yeah. And then Dale is going to interview his business partner. to Blake Cook. That's tomorrow's show. And that's a really good one. I mean, Blake basically tells a story. I had to pitch my company idea to Dale Jr. That is no small feat. And he walks us through the entire process on how he did that, his racing career, what he's up to now. It's a really good conversation. It's actually a really interesting story. Yeah. And then we got reloaded on Thursday with Ask Kenny and much more. And then Dirty Mo Doe. They're going to
Starting point is 01:37:49 handicap the entire field ahead of the roval. It's going to be an interesting one. It's going to be interesting. And then the last thing I want to say is typically I do a social media standout for the week, right? This week I don't have one. I have a bunch. And it is everybody's support for the Hurricane Helene Relief. I got a text last night from Colby. And she's, you know, one of our producers and content people here. And she said that Cletus McFarland, he put out a link for people to donate. And it was at like half a million dollars before our show? Well, they just reached a million dollars in relief for this so everybody out there on social media keep supporting us we are thinking of the people in florida right now in the in the path of hurricane milton be safe get out if you need to get out
Starting point is 01:38:34 and we will be here for you uh to to help in any way that we can for sure i want to say this i'm honored i was scared to death to fill in for dale junior he's a he's a great man he's done so much for this sport. I love you all. We're happy to have you, Kenny. I had so much fun. And when I was asked to do this, I was nervous for five days. And I had such a good time. So thank you, Dale Jr. for calling me and asking me. Thank you, Mike Davis. Of course, you all are the best. This is a great format to sit down and talk to you too. Thank you guys so much. Absolutely, man. It was a pleasure. All right, everybody. That's it. The Dale Jr. Down, that's all about Teledega
