This is Dale Jr., and you're listening to Dirtymoe radio.
Green light still.
Caution.
Caution is out.
Okay.
Just saying.
They put it out on my track.
I say it when he says it.
Hey, everybody's, Jr.
Just got home from Kansas.
Come in the door, and there's a couple of boxes here.
Jerky grams.
Two jerky grams.
And I know I mentioned that on Twitter that that was something I was wanting for my birthday.
And it looks like some of y'all.
might have sent me some so thank you whoever sent those it doesn't have anyone's name on it but I
got two jerky ramps anyways you know by the time you guys are listening to this I guess y'all
might have calmed down a little bit but we blew the right front tire today leading we had a very
very fast car that was the car that we won both Pocono races with and I'm 8-10 we know how to make
another one like it so don't worry the great thing about all that was we qualified pretty well
I think we could have qualified a little better.
The car was capable of doing that, but they're real happy about that.
We had good speed in the last practice, and I've been stressing that we need to be able to run competitive times in practice
to really get a good idea how we can adjust the car and improve it for the race, and we were able to do that.
And then when the race started, we had a great car, really, really good car.
That first run was really about trying to fill out the racetrack and see where the grooves were going.
Jay McMurray and some guys were doing some pretty impressive workup high.
There wasn't a lot of rubber up there where he was running,
so I didn't want to run there just yet, even though we could.
I wanted to run where there was rubber on the racetrack
to help save on any kind of tire wear or tire abuse.
So we were real cognizant of that going into the race.
That's the racetrack where I blew the right front tire
and got a very, very bad cushion in 2012.
So we're very aware of how touch and go and how critical the tires
can be at that track and thought we were doing the right thing by sort of taking it easy.
But we were running really fast while we were taking it easy.
We were sort of letting Jamie and those guys run where they wanted to.
We made some adjustments to actually improve on the handle of the car
and got by everybody on one of them restarts and took the lead and just had a rocket.
The car was just driving away from everybody.
I was not really driving the car hard.
Back in the corner up real easy and letting the car rotate
and trying to get into the gas and watch the car rotate.
was not leaning on the right front tire at all.
And I went through turn 3 and 4,
and just before the center of the corner,
I felt the tire unwinding.
And basically what happens and what we've seen happen before is
the tire is kind of like a string on a sweater.
And if you, you know, the tread is like a string on a sweater.
And if you grab that string and pull,
it pulls the entire tread off,
one, you know, one revolution at a time.
And it's just big long.
rope when you're done so and the whole tread's gone and now you're down in the fabric and the
tire blow out so I don't know you know this is something that just started happening to the
tires here recently I don't remember seeing tires unwind like that until the last couple of
years but for whatever reason that happened seen it before we've seen it happen before with
no explanation and I'm not knocking good year at all they're they're sort of put in a
situation and it's very challenging because we've added downforce to the cars. We got the cars
going faster than they've ever gone through the corners. Goodears forced to make a very, very hard
tire to be able to put up with that load and speed. We're just having some failures. We've been
having them, you know, that tire blew in 2012 that got the concussion at the test. It just,
the whole sidewall came out of the tire from, you know, there's really was no, it was no explanation
for that happening.
But we, you know, I applaud Good Year for doing as good a job as they can.
When they put these giant spolers on the back of the cars,
it really made Goodyear's job a lot harder because the corner speeds went up
and heating the tire and everything goes up.
And they're just doing everything they can do to try to keep the tires on the cars.
And every once in a while, we're going to have some problems.
And a couple of us had some today.
But, you know, we've got the, you know, looking at our cars and our setups,
the camber and the camera gain.
all that stuff, the front geometry, same as a lot of guys, same as all our teammates, same as
everybody we can see. Some guys have problems, some guys don't. We had a very fast car, is real happy.
I was having a blast out there in that car, and the guys did a good job fixing it. We were
able to get out there and try to maintain their points. I mean, even finishing where we finish,
trying to keep every position we can is very important. Even though, you know, I think the
two and the 40s had some trouble, I don't want to wish bad luck on anybody, but,
but at least we weren't the only one that had trouble this weekend,
and there's two races left, and anything going to happen.
So we've got to keep working hard and stay positive, keep our heads up.
We went into this race with a great attitude,
and it almost netted us a top five finish, if not a win.
I think for sure we had everybody I saw out there whooped
that was out there winning those races.
So I think we can go to Charlotte and do the same thing.
Put ourselves in position to win.
If we get the win, we get the win.
We get to move on.
So we're going to go there with that attitude,
and hopefully that will produce a positive finish and a good result.
You guys take it easy.
I know this is very disappointing, and we've got a lot of racing left,
and we want to do as well as we can, and each and every one of them.
Season's not over yet.
Y'all enjoy the download.
We'll talk to you later.
Appreciate you, Dale Jr.

Major's... I was expecting TJ.
Yeah.
I don't want to rain out on your parade.
Okay. All right. Well,
it's good to have you here.
A lot of things to digest.
Good that some people
understand it's Junior's birthday coming up
on Friday, I believe, and have already sent him
some beef jerky. You know, let's start with
the good news. The good news is that's absolutely the kind of speed, TJ, you have to have
if you're going to compete to win a championship. You told us last week not to worry. You told
everybody that you expected to have tremendous speed at Kansas, and that's exactly what they
brought to the racetrack all weekend long. Qualifying practice, 40-degree weather, 75-degree weather,
it didn't matter. There was tremendous speed in that 88 car all weekend. So that's the positive. Let's
start there. Yeah, I thought, I knew we would have speed when we got to there. Like I said,
the last two tracks we were at Loudoun and Dover. We've just seemed to have been off a little bit there.
And we can run top five, top ten there, but it just, it's a battle to get there. And if we have any
hurdles or whatever, it kind of really hinders that. But I knew when we got to Kansas, we would be right
back on pace and doing our own deal and a factor of the race. And we went there and everyone did
their jobs and we were uh you know obviously on we had a very good shot at a victory and setting
ourselves up for the next two races um in a really good spot and we just had some misfortune so
kind of pick up the pieces from that and and go to the next track and try to win again you know uh it is
disappointing there's no question it's a horrible feeling for everyone associated with the 88 team
and i'd like you to kind of talk about that you're you're above the track at all these races
you're spotting you have to be feeling pretty good about the way the race is going
and then to have that happen on, what was it, lap 122,
what's the feeling in your gut like?
I know what that, we've heard Dale Jr.
try to describe it, the feeling as it's happened.
What's the feeling for you?
Well, it wasn't quite as bad as those four of the Super Bowl's the bills lost.
But, no, I mean, you know, I wasn't even looking at him when it happened
because I was looking ahead for the lap cars, trying to go down there and let their spotters know,
look, hey, you know, we, I know you're racing for the lead lap or whatever,
but, you know, we can run the top.
know if you can help us out a little bit, we'll help you out whenever we get a chance.
You know, just making sure you give and take on the racetrack.
And, you know, I looked into turn one.
And when I looked back, he was already aiming down towards the apron.
And I saw the right side, so I kind of knew what happened.
And I didn't see the right rear.
Normally, if you get loose, the right rear hits first,
and I didn't see any right rear damage.
Like, it caves the right rear rear.
And I didn't see that.
So I kind of figured it had blown the right front as flat as the whole right side was.
So, you know, my initial thought was just kind of like, man, this is just really happening.
But, you know, then the, then, you know, that goes away in a split second, though,
because immediately you're looking for the next, I'm trying to give us TV info on, you know,
what parts need to fix more than others, and, you know, he can only see what the TV monitor shows
or what's in front of them on the front stretch, and then, you know, I try to give as much heads up as I can on stuff like that.
But obviously, it's a pretty, pretty common game plan, when you, when you hit the right side like that,
what all needs to be changed.
You know, most time it's most of the right front suspension and sometimes a truck arm or
something, rear end housing, just all depends, you know, and sometimes pieces need to be cut off.
But, you know, just trying to salvage the best we can, you know, like he said, every point matters
at this point.
So we need to get back out there.
That's why we did it at Bristol.
You know, I know we got caught up in that right there and use that practice for fixing the
car and maybe it'll, you know, we'll see here.
Maybe it'll, maybe it'll, maybe it paid off there.
Yeah, maybe so.
I mean, you know, you would think it could come down.
If there's not a win, it could come down to a point or two.
And we'll explain that even further.
Like Casey at Dover.
Yeah, exactly.
I mean, that's a great example.
Last week, I mean, every single point coming back on the track matters.
Really grateful for when he gives us these audio pieces every week and how descriptive he was about what happened.
And how, you know, people are saying, well, he was running too hard.
And as he just described, no.
We weren't running too.
Yeah, no, he wasn't running, like he said too, and that's something I was going to tell him,
because we learned our lesson a handful years ago, too, and he would kind of pioneer the highland
at these tracks like Dover and some of these other places.
We realize that if you go to the, when you go up there and it's a green racetrack, it tears
that right front up pretty quick, and we blew it right front of Dover doing that, and we've kind of,
kind of let the other guys kind of do it first now, and I knew McMurray was running higher
than him, and then when they were catching him, but, you know, and McMurray was way up
there in the gray, like not in the tire rubber on the track. So I wanted, I want, you know, I didn't want
him to be up there. And he knew enough too. So it's, it's kind of cool to both see that. You know,
I mentioned to him a couple times, but I didn't want him going. I knew he could go faster if he
went up there, but did not want to take that risk, especially, you know, since we're, you know,
we are trying to win, but we're also point racing a bunch too here. So, you know, and I don't know,
man, I just think he was a good weekend up until that altogether. Yeah, no, it was an incredible
weekend up until that. But I'm glad he described that because people are going to say, well, he's
running too hard or Boyer got into him and that's what caused all this.
And all those things are absolutely not true and it's good to hear it from him and it's
certainly good to hear it from you.
And as he described, look, man, I had a concussion there two years ago and had to sit
out the rest of the season or in the chase when they got there because of what it happened.
So certainly, as he said, they're mindful of all those things.
And to the point you keep advancing, TJ, this car was dialed in.
And because it was dialed in, shouldn't that give it?
everyone, you included a tremendous amount of confidence Saturday night?
Yeah, I mean, I don't, we're rolling into Charlotte with the same attitude that we had there.
You know, we got, we had a really good practice, you know, and the car had a lot of speed in it,
and, you know, I was watching guys' lines and practice.
I watched them guys move around a little bit and was able to tell him, and he was able to try
some stuff too, and, and Steve and him had a great car, so when he did move around, it was,
you know, it worked really good, and he had all them lines figured out before the race started,
so we didn't really have to have to go figure him out, you know, we, we, we,
practice we were really fast because he could move around a little bit and you know everyone did
their jobs we did really good job you know he had all he had all the info he needed to to find the
speed on the track he had the knowledge and the skill to drive it and and stevie and engineers and
the crew had an awesome car set up man it was awesome the whole way rob lopes a tire guy 88 tweeted out
he said you find out what you're made of when digging out of a hole not standing upon the hill
life lessons he said by the way by lopes that's his hashtag what is their day like
on a Monday or a Tuesday because Dale Jr. just said, look, that's racing. That's basically the moral
of this story. Now, that doesn't mean that people aren't going to try to do everything in their power
to further understand the tire and how it reacts to so much down force. But try to describe what their
days are like on Monday and Tuesday. I think for Monday, you know, those guys are done with it. We have a
we have a pretty fun group text with the team that it's pretty entertaining. You know, there is no
No, obviously, you know, we're disappointed that you had a car like that, didn't win with it.
It's a little more disappointing the running like 10th and having that happen, but when you're leading the race and it happens, you know, you're, you know, it's just, it kind of stings a little bit more, but I think everyone's ready to go to the shop and get after the next car, you know, to get ready to go to Charlotte because it kind of builds a little fire in you too.
You know, look, I mean, you just dominate.
We were dominating that race against some good cars, too, some really good cars.
The four, the 22, those are, those are championship contenders.
they were struggling to hang on to us.
So that gives them confidence to build a car and do their job, you know, well enough to do that.
So I don't think there's any negativity going on.
I think everyone's ready to go after it again.
Here are the two different scenarios.
Obviously, there's the one where you determine your own fate, and that's winning a race.
And that can happen Saturday night, and or it could happen in Talladega the following Sunday.
Now, I just said Talladega.
Here is the other way.
The other way is that two more people, at least two more people out, not named Joey Lugano,
because obviously he's already clenched his way into the next round,
but two more people between the two and eight seed right now, if you will,
have to have the kind of day that Dale Jr. or Brad Kislowski or Jimmy Johnson had on Sunday.
and Junior obviously and the 88 is going to have to have great success.
They're going to have to have very good finishes in those two races combined with somebody like Kenseth, Harvick, Kyle Bush, Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Newman.
One of those guys, actually two of them are going to have to have the same kind of break that Jimmy, Brad, or Junior had this past Sunday.
So, you know, as Stevie has said, as you have said, as Dale Jr. has mentioned, you don't want to wish bad luck on anybody, TJ.
But that's one way to get in.
Obviously, the best way to get in is to go win.
Yeah, I think we definitely need to go there.
I mean, we do every weekend.
We go with a must-win attitude.
But, you know, it's definitely, you never know what's going to happen, man.
This is racing.
So crazier things have happened before.
So we just go there and do our deal and we come out of the win or a top five.
that's going to put the pressure on some other people because they're going to see us, you know,
coming back up there and it's going to make them, you know, it's going to have pressure on them.
So, you know, and you never know when somebody's going to get loose in frontier or blow a tire or something, you know,
so you never know any of that's going to happen.
It might happen to four of them this next week and, you know, maybe they're cars.
We'll buy out they won't be able to continue.
So we're going to Talladega and maybe we'll be in and just have to beat a couple of them, you know.
So I don't know.
We'll see.
It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.
Everything changes each week.
All right.
Last thing I really want to grill you on, you had incredible confidence that you guys would bring a very fast car to Kansas.
You feel that same way about Charlotte?
Yeah, I feel that way about Charlotte, too.
I think we can go there.
We have been in positions to win Charlotte before, and it's kind of, something's kind of bit us a little bit.
We've had fast cars there, blew a motor one.
I think we blew a motor or something there.
Ran out of gas a couple years ago.
Ran out of gas.
So we've been in, we've had fast cars there and been in positions to take a victory there.
So we just need to go there and do that again and see if the cards play our way at the end of it.
Yep, and Junior has said this is the one he wants the most.
He wants a grandfather clock in Martinsville too, but he...
Yeah, I can go for that too.
And in front of the home fans, certainly, that would mean a lot.
Yeah, grandfather clock and you listen to his sound clips, man.
I hope I get a house one day where my voice echoes when I'm doing some recording.
Because you know it's a big room when it's echoing.
Yeah.
Could you imagine a grandfather clock in that room?
That would be quite
Yeah.
Usually we hear killer breathing
Or some kind of animal barking
Yeah
Making some sort of sound in the background
This time, yeah, no, there's
It'd be nice to your grandfather clock
In there as well.

It's time for a reaction
theater.
This,
I've been waiting for this.
I can't wait for
the person
and say,
TJ,
you were right.
Probably has any of them.
Oh, goodness, here we go.
I'm outside drinking beer in the hammock.
Why the race is still going on.
Drow my soul.
Anyway, the good thing is that our car has speed.
Y'all should be proud of that.
Everybody, Junior Nation, get up for that.
Got some speed.
Keep your heads high, go to Charlotte and get her done.
Should have had a win today.
Last but not least,
f*** you, good year.
Yeah.
I figured there's going to be a handful of them.
Hey, one more thing on the tire.
Do you think it's more susceptible to happening at Kansas or just as susceptible as happening at just about anywhere,
especially a mile and a half track?
I don't know.
Is that a exact tire they took to Kansas?
But I'm guessing it's probably really similar to one, though, I have at Charlotte.
I don't know.
I mean, it definitely could happen, especially it was the same tire.
I don't know if we're carrying quite the load at Charlotte or maybe even a little bit more.
Actually, Kansas is really, really fast, really fast.
fast. So maybe not quite as much load there. But, I mean, it's definitely, it's always in your
mind because, I mean, somebody has a tire problem every week. Seems like whether it's self-inflicted
or, you know, or just a, you know, a failure that just happens. It's always, it's always there.
I think it was good that Dale pointed out, too, that it wasn't, you know, not to put blame on
Goodyear because they're honestly just trying to do their job and keep up with the new rule
They didn't say, oh, this tire is going to go.
You're getting this tire.
Yeah, no.
They're doing it.
They're trying to make a bunch tires for us to practice and race on,
and they're trying to make them all the same, and it's not an easy job.
Yeah.
By the way, we're five days away from this, but the high is 82, low as 62 on Saturday night.
Awesome.
No hand warmers.
No, just keep that in mind.
All right, let's get to the next one.
All right, junior, let's shake the day off.
Great call you had today, and to the 88 crew,
It's the best chance that we got at the stable.
Do whatever you've got to do, seven post, eight post, nine posts.
I don't give a damn how many post for each you got to put it on.
We need to be back at Charlotte before we can get a win.
There you go.
That's the attitude you got to have right now.
That's a good attitude, but I don't think that exact car is going to make Charlotte.
I don't think they can turn it around that quick.
That one still got some wall in the side of it.
I think you can turn that one around.
I'm not really sure.
It was that bad?
Well, not that it was that bad, but the fact that it did hit,
pretty hard. I mean, you wouldn't probably want to take the risk of something being bent.
You know what I mean? I did see Mike Davis tweeted out. There was actually pieces of the wall
embedded in the side of the car. Yeah. So that's why I think that we probably should try another
one. The suspension might be a little messed up on that one and a piece of wall in there. All right,
let's get to the next one. All right. So the weekend started off pretty good. The ADA car had a pretty
good qualifying run at 8th, and a birthday on Saturday was going to make everything go well,
and then hopefully a winning car on Sunday was going to go well.
But some things happened.
I've got a good year decided to give us used tires from practice.
Well, T.J. Majors had some issues going to the bathroom, and some fluids got on track and turned
forward.
I don't know what happened, but hopefully we got some time left here, and we've been fast on a mile
and a half, and hopefully Charlotte's a turnaround, and we all know what's a lot of
it could bring. But anyways, no beers. I'm 17 years old. Bring responsibly. Daily.
You sure doesn't sound like he's 17 years old. He doesn't sound like he's 30.
Is there anything you'd like to tell us, TJ? Did you? I don't know. I mean, I tried to get it
on the track, but ain't quite had the power.
It was just a little too far to get it out that far. I mean, I tried to write my name on the
front stretch. It didn't. Really?
You're not a boy, so you don't know.
Really?
She's not a boy?
I mean, she don't know what it's like when you're in the snow and stuff and little.
I mean.
When you're in the snow when you're little.
What about when you're 30, when you're mid-30s and you have to go?
I mean, it doesn't really ever.
It doesn't end when you're three.
It's just a beginning that never ends.
It's pretty awesome.
You got to go.
You're missing out of that.
Chances are Amanda's had to go, but she can't do that.
I can't.
You can't write your name in the snow.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
If I could, we'd have a whole other set of problems, right?
Yes, we would.
And we will move on to the next reaction
theater caller.
Just want to say, Dale Jr., good luck.
Dale, yeah.
Hey, TJ, bought one of your t-shirts.
Rough day for the 88 team.
We'll get them next weekend if we don't get them there.
Dang is ours.
Dale, yeah, zero beers.
How about them?
I know you're fired up about them.
Did you just drop some off?
I did just drop some off at the shop here for the race weekend.
I did drop some off at the hauler in Kansas.
So, you know, I'm still nervous about it.
So we'll see.
I just don't want to have any extra.
I did this kind of as a fun deal and had to put a lot of my own money into it.
So I'm just want to see him get gone.
But I'm glad you bought one.
I hope you like it.
I actually got the softer fabric for you guys because I figured maybe you might be sitting.
Yeah, I mean, I figured they're going to be sitting in the stands and want to wear them around.
So, I mean, you can now purchase one over here.
Everybody.
Everybody go.
Go get your door bumper clear shirts then.
Yeah.
Everybody.
That's right.
That's right.
That's right.
Including you, Amanda.
I mean, yeah.
That's what I'll do next.
Do I still get an employee discount with that shirt?
I don't know.
I don't know.
But I'm sure Kit, he'd love to watch you wear it to sleep.
It's really soft.
DJ wants you to buy his door bumper clear shirts.
He will even write his name on it for you.
That's right.
Let's see how he does that.
Let's go to the next one.
Wow.
Where to begin?
Watching that, Gen.
Pocono Chessie.
But you know what?
I think Goodyear doesn't make conums because God knows how many people will be
think that that doesn't happen.
Anyway, got some more races in this contender round.
On to Charlotte.
It's a good thing.
Good Year doesn't make condoms, or everyone would be pregnant.
Wow.
We have.
That's awesome.
Get that man a cabbage patch kid for Christmas or something.
That is phenomenal.
I don't even know what to say to that.
Oh, please don't punch anybody.
It's okay.
Especially an infant.
Yeah.
Yes.
No, that's please, please not do that.
Yeah. Holy cow. All right. Let's see what's next.
All right. This is the Bill. Yeah, singing, man.
My raid just through the roof right now, but it's not at Dale Jr. and it's not at the 88 team.
But I am, you know, they brought a great car. Junior drove a great race.
I had good pit stops, the first, second pit stops. How many pit stops it was.
He had a great pit stop. I got one person to blame, and that's a freaking good year.
These tires aren't holding up, and they're wanting to bring a new tire every freaking week.
and try something different,
fits in me off.
And the best car today,
could have won the race,
lost the race today because of that,
and I've had no beers,
but a hell of a lot of dive mountain do.
Hell yeah.
It's a frustrating day, man.
There's no other way of saying it.
You know, it is interesting, though.
We've talked about this for years now, T.J.
It's a lot more frustrating to run 11th, 12th, 14th,
than have a car that cannot be competitive
with the best cars out.
there than that it's much better to have all the speed that you guys had yesterday.
That's certainly something junior prefers.
Yeah, I mean, I knew I was fairly confident we could go back there and have that speed.
So, you know, it's, you know, we're all working.
I wish we would have had that speed in Dover and Loudoun.
You know, we had speed, but just not that speed there.
We were still a competitive car and had things that went our way.
We had the outside row on a couple of restarts or something.
We still could have been a factor in them races, but, you know, it just,
It just didn't turn out that way, but, you know, I don't know, man.
We got speed, and we're still a threat.
So go to Charlotte and try to win that one.
Let's do it.
Let's go to the next one.
Well, you know, I've already said all my F-bomb.
Cussing, let's look at it like this, folks.
Dale Jr. was spanking that ass.
He had that field cover today.
I think I know in my heart.
They would have won that race, but it ain't to be.
Good year let us down.
That's all right.
June bug's okay.
Steve's okay.
The team's okay.
We'll come back next to Charlotte.
I think that adds some more.
No beers, but about a half a bottle Everclear, so I think I'm just going to go finish that, Everclear.
Oh, man.
I can see his email box right now.
He's probably suspended.
Are my racing?
Yeah.
They'll email you if you do that, so I don't recommend that.
Yeah, that's don't drink an iris.
That's not important.
That is important.
You said you cannot do that.
Certainly, it's more important.
It'd be worse to be out on the road, but that's not condoned either.
Half a bottle ever clear is actually probably quite a bit.
That's like eight beers.
Yeah, that's probably a lot.
I mean, yeah.
That's not good.
We're not condones.
They started off saying no beers.
I was like, oh, half a bottle ever clear.
There's a lot of things we're not condoning on this week's reaction beer.
Try three-quarters.
Call back next week with three-quarters of a bottle.
You know, the fact that you start eighth and that quickly,
you're able to compete with every single car out on the track.
I mean, that's where you've got to gain a lot of the confidence.
I think it was obvious you guys wanted to be in the front as quickly as possible.
Yeah, well, our car was good enough to get there.
You know, I knew we were good, taking them restarts and keeping the four car,
who's been the car to beat this year a lot, you know, keeping him pinned down and driving away from him
and, you know, getting spread out a little bit and just running our line where we know we could run.
And watching him and the 22 try to move to where we go to find the speed,
that's when you know you're good.
And when you've got the other cars running, trying to go where you go to find it,
that's when you know you're doing something.
Let's play the next one.
Man, we were fast off the truck.
Five top ten.
Raced our way to the front leading the race.
I could not be happier with Team 88.
Kind of fuck that we hit the wall.
I mean, that's going to happen a big time racing, man.
You can't.
I mean, it's nothing we did.
That just happens.
But I couldn't be more proud.
And Junior Nation, you need to hear me here.
This is a special time.
They hear Steve LaTart and the Team 88 get that car fixed and nobody panicked, nobody freaked out.
They went to the garage.
They did what they needed to do.
They got back out on the track.
I'm telling you what, I'm disappointed as hell, but I couldn't be happier with this team right here.
It's going to really suck when Steve LaTart's not around.
I'm looking forward to gray guys, yeah, but I'm telling you, I don't know how many beers I had.
But my son's 21 birthday, and we watched the race and had a few.
I can tell you one thing.
They were the best damn beers I've ever had.
I'm excited about Charlotte.
Hell, I'm going to be there.
I think we're going to bring it home, boys.
Hell yeah.
All right.
Daddow's in the house.
I like that attitude.
Yeah.
Datto's in the house.
And, hey, you remember this, Amanda.
Last year, now I know you weren't here yet, but I know you've heard these stories.
After what happened in Chicago last year,
Dato decided he was going to go for a run every week and call in to the podcast while he was running.
to do on his reaction theater call.
And TJ, you guys in the next nine races were just top five in the hell out of it.
And Dado gave an incredible pep talk to Junior Nation, to Steve LaTart, to Dale Jr., to everybody that Junior did hear and was impressed by.
And the reaction, obviously, was great.
So let's hope that same thing's happen again.
We've been wondering if Daddow was going to call into Reaction Theater.
There you go.
He's coming to the race in Charlotte.
Yeah, well, look forward to that.
You know, though, one thing I don't really know about, if it was last year, Chicago that he said he's going to go for a run, I don't know if he's went for a run every week.
I saw him in Bristol.
It looked like he had been running every.
I think he took the off season off, you know.
Yeah, he did.
Those might have been the only seven or eight times he ran in his life.
Yeah.
He's a big boy.
Just run to the mailbox come back.
I mean, I mean, I can confirm he was running.
I can't confirm how far he went, but I can't confirm.
confirm the man was struggling while he was running.
He was taking one for the team.
So we'll see what happens moving forward.
That's a good sign.
Good to hear from Dato.
All right, let's hear one more.
I know I'm doing this too late, but what the heck?
Here goes.
They keep saying this chase format is great.
Something they devised for the fans.
Well, I've been cursing during every damn race,
because my guys season's going down the tube.
These cars were made for racing, but I've got me a hunch.
One of these days this chase is going to make me lose my lunch.
Hell yeah.
And there you go.
It could have been your dinner.
Or you could have seen TJ peeing off the side of the spotter stand.
Other than that.
Which could still happen this weekend.
So don't let me rule that out.
What do you mean?
It will happen this week.
When?
It will happen this week.
TJ will be trying to spell out his name at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Write my name.
On Saturday night.
I just tremendous.
Do a little wind test.
And Amanda Troutman is jealous.
Reaction Theater is open 24-7.
All you have to do is call toll-free 1-855-740-1902,
and leave us your voicemail message,
and we'll play the best each week right here on Dirty Mo.
Even if you sing ballads and you've got to hide in the closet
and make up your own little song.
Sing rap?
Yeah, anything.
Perform a haiku.
We haven't had one of those yet.
Yeah.
I don't know.
Compare good year to condoms, whatever.
Just call us and leave us your voicemail message.
All right.
Wednesday, prepare yourself because you never know what you're going to get
when Kelly and Dale's mom, Brenda, joined Kelly on Fast Lane family,
presented by Charlie's Soap.
Friday, don't miss JRM 360, the podcast.
Best way to keep up with the latest happenings in the halls of junior motorsports.
And of course, on Monday, you get the recap the full weekend,
Junior Motorsports Nationwide and late model teams and Dale's Sprint Cup series run
on the Monday recap presented by Spy.
You got a white flag for me, Amanda?
White flag right there, white flag.
On Junior's calendar, the week appeared busy,
but that was a hoax to help surprise him
with a 40th birthday party.
The big fun happened last night at Whiskey River
in Uptown Charlotte, among many of his surprises,
the band 21 pilots performed,
as did his favorite musician and good friend Matthew Good.
Just a few of the attendees at Dale Jr.'s birthday party
was Matt Kinzith, Danica Patrick, Kyle Busch,
Casey Cain, Jimmy Johnson, Carolina Panthers tied in Greg Olson, and country music singer Jamie Johnson.
Perhaps Junior's best birthday present is getting a couple days off before the busy race weekend here in Charlotte.
The Sprint Cup series will be on track on Thursday with practice and then qualifying that evening.
Also Amy Ryman, Dale's girlfriend, will compete in the Better Half Dash.
That is also on Thursday evening at 5 p.m.
That will be a 25-lap race in the infield oval at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Junior will have two more practices on Friday, and then the race will be Saturday night at 7.30 p.m. Eastern, and you can catch that on ABC.
Don't forget that the Dale Jr. Pit Party is happening right before the race with the band Perry performing.
For tickets to that and everything that I have just talked about from Thursday on, you can go to Charlotte Motor Speedway.com.
All right, good stuff, Amanda, and we'll keep the white flags coming each and every week.
Everybody keep your head up. That car had incredible speed in Kansas. There's every reason
to believe it will in Charlotte.
And if there's any man on the circuit that knows how to get around Talladega,
it is certainly Dale Earnhardt Jr.
TJ, keep doing your thing.
I take credit for that Talladega stuff.
You need to take some credit to.
Don't spell your name out on Saturday night.
Please don't do that.
Don't get it on the track.
No guarantees.
For Dale Earnhardt Jr., for T.J. Majors, for T.
For Amanda Troutman, I'm Taylor-Zarzer.
