Starting point is 00:00:01 This is Dale Jr., and you're listening to Dirty Mo Radio. Hey, guys, we're going to have to come back in here. There's only two under the left room. No problem. Good thing. You think, thanks, 500 miles. We don't beat them. It's early.
Starting point is 00:00:14 Don't worry about it. Yep, tell four. You're now listening to the Dale Jr. download presented by Spy. Check out Dale Jr. signature dirty-mo sunglasses from Spy and SpyOptic.com. Hey, everybody's Jr. just got home from Texas. Getting ready to go to bed. Get up and have fun tomorrow. Got Sunday off.
Starting point is 00:00:35 So anyways, had a good race weekend in Texas. We ran the Xfinity race with the goodies car for Junior Motorsports. We had a lot of fun. That car was really, really loose, and we couldn't really get it fixed in the race like we wanted to, but it's still a pretty good result. With goodies on board, those guys, been a lot of fun to work with. Great to get to do the commercial with Richard Petty and get to know him a little bit better. Never really spent a lot of time around him.
Starting point is 00:01:03 So that's been awesome. Anyways, the race tonight was good, you know. Just, I probably could have done a couple things to give ourselves a better shot at winning. But overall, you know, the car was fast. We unloaded a quick car. I thought the car drove as good. In practices, I've had there in a long, long time, so I felt pretty confident. Once that happened, that we were going to have a good weekend, and we did.
Starting point is 00:01:28 We didn't qualify well, but it was sure fun driving up through there. We had a couple problems early. We ended up, you know, having some vibrations and stuff. And, you know, I think a lot of it was the tires, just different sets of tires, vibrated and some didn't. We had some issues on pit road with some lug nuts, but the guys were honest about it. We got it fixed. That's the way you got to be.
Starting point is 00:01:51 So I'm proud of them boys for handling the situation like they did because that's how we got to do it. Otherwise, man, they were smooth all night long, and they're just going to get better throughout the year. our restarts were really good that helped us a lot on track position the car was I could get really aggressive with that car in turn one and two when restarts kind of wease my way where I'd have been there
Starting point is 00:02:11 and do whatever I needed to do to get a couple spots real quick so car was real effective in doing that on that first lap and on the long run it was actually pretty good I actually run the bottom a lot our car was rough across the bumps in turn one and two
Starting point is 00:02:27 up high so it was best me to run the bottom and I just kept working my track bar around all night long and I move that thing I move that thing a lot I mean it traveled a mile inch of time but it really helped me a lot and yeah I don't know what it is but I think a restarts have been better this year the cars are just different for whatever reason and I've always told people this sometimes I'll have a race where we run really good and they'll come to me and say man you're real aggressive this race That's what we need every week. The difference is the car is aggressive.
Starting point is 00:03:01 Like, you know, you can't be aggressive in a car that's going backwards or not going anywhere at all. You're just being a p-a-if you run into people and you're not going anywhere. So you've got to pick your battles, you know. And when your car is fast, you can be as aggressive as you want to be. Get out of my way. I'm coming through. That's kind of the way the cars have been this year. They've been fast and good on restart so we can be aggressive and it shows in the equipment, really.
Starting point is 00:03:26 all the people at Hendrick are building some great stuff right now. Cars are as good as anybody's out there, so it's giving me a lot of confidence, and I think that's what's showing through. But it was a long night. That's a long race, but it's one of those 500-mileers that I feel like should be a 500-mile race.
Starting point is 00:03:45 It's Texas, obviously, everything in Texas is big, and it's a fun, fun track. The surface is worn, and we run all over the place, the top to the bottom. It's, you know, it's not one of them races where you wish it was 400 miles, like a lot of them. But it was, you know, we had, I like the long green flag runs. We weren't getting those at the end.
Starting point is 00:04:09 There's just debris flying everywhere. Seems like we couldn't get a long run put together there for where we could get some track position. But it really didn't matter, I guess. In the end, one of the best cars on the track won to race. And we put up a good show. one we can be proud of. We needed to after the last couple weeks. We've had pretty rough go of it the last couple weeks.
Starting point is 00:04:33 It's a good finish in the bank. I know our teams, I think our team's a little bit stronger than it was last year. I want to be able to show that. I'm embarrassed where we are on the points. I think we ought to be up the top three. That's where we belong. And we're going to work to try to get back up in there and get some wins on our way. So you guys have a great week and enjoy the download.
Starting point is 00:04:55 We'll talk to you. Later, Bristol's coming up. We're looking forward to it. Good stuff from Dale Jr. Really good stuff this week on the Dale Jr. download with Amanda and T.J. and Mike Taylor. Man, we've got a lot to digest there, indeed. That was pretty good feedback. Yeah, it was good.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Think about it. I mean, we're talking restarts, aggressive driving. Overalls. Yeah, I mean, I tell you what, that was a good perspective from Dale. I appreciate him actually doing that. Being a bleep, if you just run people over, you know, if you're too aggressive. last year, Steve said, I asked when we were catching a lot of
Starting point is 00:05:30 flack on restarts. And I said, Steve, what's the deal with Dale's restarts? And he goes, it's not Dale restarts. It's all of our Hendrick Motorsports cars are just not doing well with restarts. He goes, I don't know what it is. He goes, but these cars are just not built. He goes,
Starting point is 00:05:46 look at Jeff. He goes, look at Jimmy. None of them are good at restarts. And this was last year now. This was last year. And so I started paying attention to that. What I see this year, our car cars that, you know, are actually more aggressive. They show more ambition on these restarts. T.J. and Dale have worked out a little method that.
Starting point is 00:06:04 T.J. wants to feel like that it's 100% of T.J. I won't take a hundred. I'll take. I don't take anything. After the start, after we could turn once, all him. Like, it's all. I will say we are rolling. We've got a good method rolling to the green. I don't know. You know, I've got to admit something to you, Mike. Dale Jr. face-times me before the restarts.
Starting point is 00:06:24 and he shows me, I'm listening to T.J. You know, on the NASCAR app that I've got. And he facetimes me, and I can tell that Junior does push the gas on the third green that T.J. says. Really? Ready, green, green, green. Except because you're FaceTiming. I'm FaceTiming. So I would.
Starting point is 00:06:47 TJ, I'd give you 92% for the restarts. I feel more feeling it's 93. Yeah, I mean. That makes total sense to me. Like most people, you FaceTime and show them your feet. Because that's what you do. No, he says hello first. I got you.
Starting point is 00:07:01 I got you. I do feel like every, we have over the years, I do feel like over the years, we've come up with a good form that works for both of us. So, like, I can see him leave gaps at certain points. And when we never get yelled at, come into the green, if you listen to NASCAR, they'll yell at people for laying back. We're good at we don't do anything wrong. We don't do anything.
Starting point is 00:07:24 We've got a good system where he knows when I, like he says, he knows about when I call the green. He knows that when I call it, it's usually by about maybe the third time that I say when he goes. And we always have runs on people now. You know what I mean? We're always the guy filling the hole somewhere. We're never the one blocking anymore. This is what I'm noticing on Friday night was a really good example.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Yeah. With that goodies car. And then even Saturday night, Dale Jr. was actually going three wide in the middle. Yeah, we were filling the whole. Yeah. In all seriousness, if you're at the track and he's got a scanner, if you're listening to TJ, he's right. I mean, he is right.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Like, they do have a system down and you can notice it. It starts in the middle of three and four, all right? The past car is in. You know, I tell him what, and he does. He has figured out what I'm telling him how to do it in the car now and get what he needs, you know, and it works out. If my timing's right, his timing's right, you know, if our timing just in sync with each other. Listen, it's all working. This was one of those races that I didn't think it mattered if he was on the end.
Starting point is 00:08:24 side row or outside road. He was good either way. In the beginning, I was counting off pit road trying to figure out where if he wanted the outside, I was counting cars. And then it got to the point where we were just going to pass somebody wherever we were at, you know, and the cars are like, good thing about the cars. The cars are really good now, but he's confident him. That's what you can see. When he gets to turn one, he's going. Confidence is a big issue there, yeah. I love what he said about being aggressive, too. I mean, everybody's always like, man, you were aggressive. And I like, I like how he explained that. I can't be aggressive when I've got junk.
Starting point is 00:08:54 You know, when the car is going backwards, you can be aggressive. When you know you've got a car underneath you that you can be aggressive with. It's that confidence deal. When they know their car is going to be good, they want to go to the front. And again, I go back to last year, Stevie's saying, look, our cars are not built for whatever reason for good restarts. And he goes, it's just something that we see. It's not a Dell Jr. isolated thing. It's a Hendrick Motorsports thing.
Starting point is 00:09:15 But I see vast improvements in that area. Ms. Amanda, I don't know about you, but I love to watch the 88 go through the field. You never want problems on pit road ever and lug nut issues, et cetera. But watching that, you know, when you have to restart the back end, that stinks and it can be frustrating. But I don't know about you. You've been a big fan of the sport for a long time. Watching a car come through the entire field like that, it's really cool.
Starting point is 00:09:40 Everybody wants to see their favorite driver do that. And I think they were very lucky, as Dale pointed out, that it happened so early in the race because that's difficult to do in any circumstance. No, no, if you're going to have a problem, yeah. It lucked out. it was the caution lucked out that it was so early. One thing that's cool about it is you see when, that's how you can also judge if you're good or not because when you something like that happens before, if you're not running that
Starting point is 00:10:02 great, you go to the back, you're not making it back up through. Now we went to the back twice basically. With a clean car. With a clean car and made it back up through. Mike, you're getting frustrated at all without any wins. And this team right there again with a chance to win. That's all you want. And just about every single week, they're rolling out a car that has a chance to win.
Starting point is 00:10:21 frustrated at all. I like to win. Winning's good. I'm not frustrated because I'm seeing things out of the car that makes me think that they're coming. Now, you know, I know that's a cliche thing. A lot of people, a lot of drivers say, hey, I know
Starting point is 00:10:37 wins coming right around the corner. You know good and dang well. They ain't going to win anytime soon. But for us, you should believe that. Listen, I saw a car yesterday, or I saw a car Saturday night that was doing things that was really good. I saw Junior running the bottom line
Starting point is 00:10:49 as opposed to the top line. And I'm like thinking to myself, wow, you know, he's actually running the bottom and doing better with it than the top. And so it's just, I saw him searching out grooves. I saw him doing things. I saw two other cars that were better than us. I did. But I think that he finished exactly where that car would have got him to. You know, but on a perfect night, maybe we come off first and get, we come off the row first and get the lead and get out front and they can't get around us.
Starting point is 00:11:14 But we finished, we were probably legitimately a third place car. And I'm actually curious about, you know, I know he lived. alluded to it after the race, but he's talking about he wished he'd done something to give himself a better chance to win. Do you know what he's talking about? I don't think. He said something about coming off a turn two. Yeah, I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:11:34 I think maybe it might have been whenever we pulled down and let Harvard go again. We pulled down one time. We cleared him one time legitimately, and then he didn't have enough of a run to get back by us on the inside. Harvard needed the top. If we would have stayed up against the wall in the backstretch, I don't think Harvard could have got around us again, and we might have. I'm not saying we would have run Jimmy down, but you never know.
Starting point is 00:11:54 And you never know we could have got a caution and been on the front row. And I mean, as aggressive as we were on resource, I'd take my chances on the front row. Let me add one more thing to your question. I will say this also. Regardless of the aggressive thing, how Junior says that what I saw Friday and Saturday night, I really liked that of my driver. And I so much so that I texted him after the Friday night thing. And I said, man, really fun watching you wheel that thing tonight.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Because what he would have, the way he throw very. That's a great way of saying it, too. The way he drove Eric Jones, I think a lot of people welcome that. Sure they do. Because if we take reaction theater and all that stuff, I feel like I got an idea what the fans have been wanting. And they like to see him be a little rude out there. It's not that he was doing what he needed to do. I mean, they would have done to him.
Starting point is 00:12:37 And, you know, I liked it too. I mean, I like it. Oh, it's nice. It makes me respect what Eric did even more because he earned it. You know, he was put to the test. Like, he was put to the biggest pressure you could be put on it. that kid get by you because he's got a faster car. We know he's got a faster car.
Starting point is 00:12:53 Yeah. But make it hard on him. And we did. Yeah. He did. Well, I'll tell you this. As somebody that does his podcast, it's a fan of juniors, Jimmy Johnson and Kevin Harvick.
Starting point is 00:13:03 Kevin Harvick works for the organization. Jimmy Johnson is his teammate. And Dale would tell you anybody that knows Jimmy Johnson would tell you, if you really knew him, you would absolutely admire him and the way that he lives his life and the kind of human being that he is. Having said all of that, what I love. most about Friday and Saturday night, I don't give a damn about either one of those things or anyone else out there. And that's exactly what, and I'm not saying that's not always been the case.
Starting point is 00:13:28 It has. I'm just saying that's what I really appreciated most of watching him this weekend. I don't care who you are. If you work for me, if you're my teammate, who you are. I'm going to do whatever it takes to win these races. And the fact that he's got that attitude each week is something I really appreciate as a fan. Junior's race with Kevin Harvick at the end was just incredible, I thought. Yeah, it was incredible. I feel like the way he raced Jimmy a few weeks ago. That was awesome. He don't let up around those guys anymore, but I do feel like when Kevin, like when he did clear him that one time, I feel like, I think he was set on having a third place car at that point.
Starting point is 00:14:02 You know what I mean? I think those two were kind of pulling away a little bit and then we got by Kevin a little bit. Kevin hit the wall. Yeah. But they, I don't know. They were racing hard. I mean, they were racing. Nothing changed.
Starting point is 00:14:12 So it's not like we were going to go. Hey, last thing, before we move on to reaction theater, I think a lot. lot of people listening today might be a little surprised by something junior said that he didn't really know Richard Petty all that well, and he's enjoyed through these goodies commercials, getting to know the King a little bit better. That's pretty cool. I mean, I would say that the two most, yeah, I'd say the two most popular people, at least in the Deep South, if not in the world, still today in Motorsports might be Dale and Art Jr. and Richard Petty. Yeah. You know, the people that have the most fans, et cetera. So that's,
Starting point is 00:14:48 really cool that they're building a relationship. Well, I remember something from a couple years ago when we announced that partnership with goodies. The first thing we did was have Richard Petty out to Dirty Moe Acres. You were telling me that somebody broke the gate or something. Right. But he came out there and that was really the first time that they had spent like real good quality time, not at the, you know, hectic racetrack and all that kind of stuff. And Jr. made the comment afterwards like how awesome it was just to hang with Richard Petty. I mean, who gets to do that, right?
Starting point is 00:15:21 Yeah. Because it was about an hour, two hours, something like that. Junior's got such a passion for the history of the sport that he's always going to those are always going to be highlights to him. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Absolutely. He didn't even have to be a Richard Petty fan. Just being hanging with one of those guys like that, a legend who built this sport up. That's a highlight in Dale Junior's life. He's that way in all sport. I mean, all things. Dwight Yoke him, he was all giddy meeting him a few weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:15:45 He does. He has a lot of appreciation for people like that. By the way, the king didn't break the gate. Somebody else broke the gate. You told the story a couple of years ago on a podcast. I did, right. I'm trying to think back what it was. It was funny because the king had a hilarious response to it. I can't remember what it was, though.
Starting point is 00:16:01 Yeah, we do know that. You know what? Podcasts are still, they live there. I think it might be episode number one. Start listening to all those podcasts and you'll come across it. So that was the Duck Commander 500 this week. It's the Food City 500 in support of Steve Burns. I'll also in it.
Starting point is 00:16:15 I mean, that's pretty emotional. How cool is that? That that's in the name right there. We're all fighting with Steve Burns, by the way. I know I mentioned him a few weeks ago on this podcast, seeing all his tweets, all these pictures he's sending out with the treatment that he's receiving. We're fighting with you, my friend. No question.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Steve has taught us a lesson. He doesn't even realize it, but he's taught us a lesson on dealing with adversity. He could absolutely be playing a sympathy card, and he absolutely could be playing like, you know, the woe is me and all this stuff. and all, you know, but he doesn't. No. It's like, you know, he's going into chemo treatments. He's got a smile.
Starting point is 00:16:52 And he's smiling. And he's talking about the T-shirt he's wearing. Yeah, exactly. I mean, it's like, that's how you handle that stuff. And you've got to be a strong, willed, somebody that's solid in their faith, and their family and their friends. You've got to be that way. And I'm telling you, he is the example for that.
Starting point is 00:17:10 I cheer for him every day. But I just, I stand just in awe of him on the way he's handled himself. Yeah, I thought the same thing. Everything he does is so positive. He never acts down about it. He's got everybody. He cheers me up. Yeah. You know?
Starting point is 00:17:25 He's done that to me before. I don't know him nearly as well as maybe some others, but he called a couple of years ago and did the same thing to me. I just think the world of him. And that's not to say that he's not experiencing and not going through those emotions. He absolutely is. You know he is. He's just not bringing it to us.
Starting point is 00:17:41 And I just applaud it. Well, let's fill the stand. Let's fill Thunder Valley this weekend. Let's do it. of Steve Burns. Diet do tailgate at the beginning of it. And let's put the 88 in Victory Lane. The Dushin car.
Starting point is 00:17:52 At the end of it. If you haven't supported one of our great sponsors now is the time, and I'm going to tell you how. Go online to spyoptic.com and check out Dale Jr.'s signature spy 88 collection. It includes the Dirty Moe, McCoy, Quanta, General, and Farrah for the ladies. Once to check out, enter discount code nationwide 88. Nationwide 88. Received 20% off of your purchase.
Starting point is 00:18:15 I think you need to throw in, like, just the little clip of Junior. Nationwide is on your side just right there after nationwide. If we ever can get down to sing the jingle, that would be a great sound clip. That would be very cool. It's time now for reaction theater. Bullshit, Joe Johnson. I hate Kevin Harvick. I hate Kevin Harvick being in any J.R.M. equipment.
Starting point is 00:18:38 I never thought I could hate anybody as much as I hate Jeff Gordon, but they have surpassed that. But I am being proud of R-88, that car was better than me. two ass that finished in front of his car didn't fall off during the race. He didn't have enough time at the end because of NASCAR's stupid-ass caution. Oh, God, I hate them to.
Starting point is 00:19:00 God, I want to meet her so bad. I don't. I don't. Probably hates me, too. Yeah, I want to meet her even more. Again, take away, if you've met them personally, take that out of it. I think she speaks for most people right now. They're sick and tired of those two.
Starting point is 00:19:15 They are. Damn, but I'm joining her. Who's next? Hey guys. I thought the future Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. did pretty good tonight. Very disappointed. It seems like he did not have the speed of the four car or the 48 car once again. Maybe Greg Ives and the guys at the shop will get back to it and get him to speed.
Starting point is 00:19:40 Kind of nice complaining about a third place finish, though. Hashtag, no beers, big glass of chocolate milk. There you go. Whatever works. Yeah, that's right. I thought our speed was pretty good, to be honest with you. It was. It was very good.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I know 40 other cars that wish they had our speed. Good point. Eighth in the standings right now, and he said he's embarrassed by that. He wants to get up there in the top three. Who's next? For once, I would like to see Junior dominate a race. Just go out and absolutely spank the field. So I've got a stat question for you all.
Starting point is 00:20:14 When was the last time Junior led, let's say, 85? to 90% of the laps in a race and went on to win it. Is that crickets I hear? Now, I'm sure my question is going to get skewed like the last time I called in and, you know, pretty much make it sound like I have no idea what I'm talking about. But hear me out. I know it's not all about winning the most laps. I know it's just about winning the race.
Starting point is 00:20:37 But it would be nice to see him dominate a race every once in a while. You know, that's not a plate track where he doesn't have to win on, you know, fuel or pitch strategy or have the leader have a problem in front of him like Brad did last year at Pocono. Heck, Jimmy's already done it twice this year and he did it multiple times last year where he just completely annihilates the field the entire
Starting point is 00:20:58 race. Now I ask myself, is this the cars that Junior's getting that's not allowing him to do that or is it the driver? Wow. Wow. I don't, I think it's a... What a negative dude, man. Well, hold up. Why is he so mad on the time? I think it's a lot of things, ma'am.
Starting point is 00:21:13 Because there was, near the end there, there was when we pitted and got tires and most people didn't, Jimmy was not getting back to the front. Let me just say, yeah, but listen. Nobody's trying to compare Dale Jr. Dale Jr. would be the first person not trying to compare himself to Jimmy Johnson. Yeah. Jimmy Johnson might be on the Mount Rushmore of drivers in the history of the sport, okay?
Starting point is 00:21:33 But let me just, he's won six championships. But to say that he's never dominating a race or never winning outside of a restrict or plate race, Brad didn't have fuel problems in both Pocono races last year that Dale Jr. won both of. Dale Jr. won on a short track race the week after he was eliminated from the chase. So that gives you a sense of how competitive and strong
Starting point is 00:21:55 you guys are with the 88 on a short track. So what a short memory. If we're sitting here between 2008 and 2012, all right, fine, call in. But those days are long gone. Here's my reaction to that. First of all, if you're going to bring
Starting point is 00:22:11 the high heat, don't come with the high heat and then give us conditions on your question. You want to eliminate plate races because you know that he did that very thing last year in a plate race, which, by the way, I will say, I think is a bigger accomplishment to lead the most laps at a plate race when you could have the most dominant car and they can still blow by. You could have a lot of different aspects of plate races in Daytona this year.
Starting point is 00:22:36 My second point to that is this. Let's quit acting like what Jimmy Johnson does is easy. Yeah. Okay. To your point, Taylor, Jimmy Johnson. is a future first ballot Hall of Famer paired with a future Hall of Famer Crew Chief, and he is going to be
Starting point is 00:22:53 one of the all-time, he already is one of the all-time greatest to drive in this sport. So let's give the guy's credit. He does dominate races. Listen, I'm going to be honest. He has, one time, it would be nice if Junior dominated the race in one. Who's going to disagree with that?
Starting point is 00:23:12 Yeah, I'd like to do it every week, too. Who's going to disagree with that? That's a great, great point, sir. We would love that. I would love to have a six-pack like Mark Wahlberg, but I'm not unhealthy because I don't. I don't want to find out. I don't want to find out. I'm going to show you, Taylor.
Starting point is 00:23:27 No, no, no. Please keep your shirt on. Here's the fact, the matter. Dale Jr. in his career has not led the most laps a lot. He's done it 12 times. 12 times he's led the most laps. So there's your stats, and we're not backing away from anything. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:23:42 And every time he won the race. So does that mean the 11? I'm going to be pissed off at the other 11 wins that he has because he didn't lead the most laps? No, I don't see a problem with the path we're on. No problem whatsoever. I think that's the right attitude. Who's next.
Starting point is 00:23:58 O'Hill Jr. got that number 88-Dash-wide Chevrolet right there on those restars. It's just too bad that Kevin Horvick couldn't catch up Jimmy Johnson right there. Get him slowed down at the end so Jr. catch up. hashtag let me open my cooler here well what we can help hashtag about
Starting point is 00:24:19 20 bears take the motor speedway baby whoa I love the sound effects yeah I like that really adds to the hashtag I like the guy that knocked them all over yeah the pyramid that was good
Starting point is 00:24:31 that was really good who's next come on guys loose lug nuts for laps on tires and I decide to pick what that the hell what's going on with you guys.
Starting point is 00:24:43 Come on. Get it together. And listen, those things are going to happen. Every team has those. Every team has those things happen. Like Junior said, the fact that they, everybody took accountability for it. That's what you appreciate. And look, they did a damn good job the rest of the night.
Starting point is 00:24:58 They did. And I got to even applaud Del Jr. For being as upbeat about it as he was. Because, I mean, look, we would be lying if we said that it wasn't an unfortunate thing. Sure. Well, none of us were happy about it. Nobody was happy about that. So, you know, Dale Jr. kept his head in the game better than anybody that I saw, including myself.
Starting point is 00:25:16 I've been spotting for a long time, and I've been through a lot of bad pit stops, and I've seen a lot of other guys get mad on the team and stuff. You don't really say anything at the time, but you can just tell they get mad and frustrated. None of that happens. Like, we all know that those mistakes happen, and when none of us dwell on it, we keep going to the next stop, and the only two tired, only two Lugnots got put on that time, right? Yes. Yeah, that's something different.
Starting point is 00:25:40 You know what I mean? There's something happens there. Something was weird about that. Yeah, you don't, yeah, you don't. A guy's not going to miss that many, you know what I mean? And you can go out with one loose lug nut on a tire and it's not going to affect anything. I think that people think if one is loose, then the whole tie, like everything's going to go off course. But only two of them getting put on.
Starting point is 00:26:00 There's something, they must have popped off or something must have happened or something. Who's next? Bail hadn't had me on the edge of my seat for the last 20 last there. He had a hell of a restart. And, man, I was worried that he'd never get back to top five, but that was just awesome there on that last three start. You know, it didn't get the win, which is what we all wanted, but he just drove a hell of the race tonight.
Starting point is 00:26:21 You can't ask for much more than that. He drove his heart out for 334 laps, and as a fan, that's all I ever want to do. And, you know, that's good enough for me. And let's go get him in Bristol. Let's get a W. We can do it. Hell yet. That guy is exactly my attitude at the end of the night. Man, that was awesome.
Starting point is 00:26:37 It was fun watching him, how competitive he was, getting third play. man, I want to win. That was exactly how I felt. It's cool. I mean, it's funny because I was thinking about it. I'm actually hoping for caution sometimes now. Before you're kind of like, oh, we're on a third. Let's just finish it out here. Now I'm like, man, I wanted one. There's no question. Now I hope there's a caution of it. Because they're done.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Absolutely. That's a good point. That's a good thing to be wanting. You know, you're in that position. That's good. It means you got a lot of car left. Who's next? Hey, Mike. This is the Fardale girls. Thank you for your support. This is an awesome race. I'm glad to see that Junior's using a little of aggression. I definitely think that he out drove his crew.
Starting point is 00:27:12 He made up for what they are lacking. I think that he is really out for it, and I think it's going to be a good year, despite of a slow start. Go, Jr., we love you, guy. Get it done. Bye. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:27:22 Why are you looking at me? Let's all go back to the beginning of this. Amanda, can you play the beginning of that, please, again? Just the beginning. Hey, Mike, this is the Ferdale girl. Thank you for you for your support. Okay, that's all he's going to need. I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:27:35 Wait, wait. Thank you for your support for the Fordale girl. What does that mean? Is that like four Dale or is there four girls? Yeah. I'm not even sure. Well, she knows you, apparently. I noticed that there were these Dale girls on Twitter,
Starting point is 00:27:51 and so I made a joke or I made the comment that I wonder if the Dale guys have competition or if they have future wives. Or they dating. Right. That's all I said. And you know what? I'm not even sure. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:06 I wasn't even sure the answer, and I don't know if the Dale guys are. actually replied, but the Dale girls replied, I said, I said something about Jorts, because that's like a staple of their own thing. And they said, what's Jorts? And I thought then, you know what, they're not the same type. They're not going to work out. That sounds like a J.R. M. 360 show in the making. Yeah. If they don't know what George are, then they're not for the Dail guys. We got some ordained ministers in the building. Dale guys meet Dale girls. Surprise visits. Oh, that would absolutely, that has J.R.N. 360 written it all over it. It does. Who's next. Hey, Mike. Amanda, T. T. This Mike Henry. How you're doing?
Starting point is 00:28:39 But we woke up this morning, I got to catch the last 30 lap. Looks like you're doing good. Dale, yeah, three bottles of water. Mike Henry's in the military. He's overseas right now. Yeah, I appreciate him for his service. He tweets a lot. Thanks for calling, too, from wherever he is.
Starting point is 00:28:54 I think it might have been in Texas last year. He came up to me behind pit road or on pit road and shook my hand. Bigdale Jr. fan. Well, we had a caller. What was it from? From Panama earlier. and not Panama City, but Panama City. And then we've gone international.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Let's just be real. We're definitely outside Augusta National. I can publish it. Augusta National. Who's next? I think Jackie. Danny Handling, too. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:35 Yeah, great. applause. That's pretty good. I'm pretty sure he made up 75% of that song if he went. There could have been all sorts of things that Amanda did not bleep there that should have been bleep, but that's simply because we couldn't understand some of it. But it was very funny.
Starting point is 00:30:48 It was very entertaining. Could have been itch. I think the Denny Hamlin hairdo and Michael Alterplexed tacos part were quite interesting. Like, I give him credit. They were funny when he winged it. But the Biffle line, he leaned into that one. I could hear that one loud and clear. I had no problem understanding that one.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Anytime you throw a Denny in there on the fly, you're a winner. That's funny. Nice. The Delia kid right there. Reaction theaters open 24. all you have to do is call toll-free. 1-855-740-1902. Good luck finding a pay phone.
Starting point is 00:31:20 Don't have to call toll-free if you're using the cell phone because everything costs the same. 1855-740-1902. Leave us your voicemail message. And we'll play the best each week right here on Dirty Mo Radio. Time now for It Takes a Nation presented by Nationwide. You know, in the newest nationwide commercial, Dale Jr. says, it's never been just me out there.
Starting point is 00:31:39 And with me today is someone who's been on Junior's side since 2005. longer than me. Actually, I started with him in 2004, but not of this company. But to my knowledge, this is the only German on junior's side? Actually, is that true? Do you think there's anybody in Germany, Martin Friedrich, that is on junior side? Are there junior fans in Germany? Oh, there are plenty of junior fans in Germany, but I'm probably the only Martin Friedrich. Oh, really? Yeah. So Mama Friedrich over there in Germany, not a junior fan.
Starting point is 00:32:04 Oh, she's a big junior fan. She's actually calls me all the time, and, you know, if she doesn't understand something, how he finished or whatever, yeah, she's a big deal junior fan. All right. So maybe you're not the only junior fan or the only one in Germany that's on junior side. So, Martin, you're the IT director. You're the director of information technology. What does the director of IT for Dell Jr., like on any day, what kind of phone call will you get from Dell?
Starting point is 00:32:28 What could be, what does your day look like? Most of the time it's just maintenance, right? I mean, you make sure that the systems work, that everything is running smooth, that, you know, typically we do this Thursday or Friday in a way that we don't, we pretty, much go over there while he's on the road. And then by Saturday, Sunday, when he comes back, hopefully everything works. So that's the plan. And, you know, other than that, you know, he has little projects or bigger projects once in a while and that's what we do. I mean, an example would be a couple years ago or several years ago, actually, he asked for a new PC. So my team and I built that PC and it was really nice. I mean, he had certain specifications. He needed to be fast. He did some
Starting point is 00:33:11 them racing on it. It was a pretty high-end machine. So we built this PC and tied everything up really nice and had it in a nice case. I bring it over there. And he actually, instead of hooking it up, which I expected, he took the thing, opened it up, looked inside and said, eh, it's not going to work. I believe some cables could have been properly routed in the back of the computer. So the airflow is better, so he actually put it on his kitchen counter, took the whole thing apart, brought it back to life, and then was happy with it. So he fixed something you messed up? Then what does he need you for? I know.
Starting point is 00:33:50 It was embarrassing. It was one of my proud days. Have you messed it all with the tree house? Yes. So like when you talk about all these little projects Dale has, he has a lot of projects. Yeah. And they're usually big projects. And you've got to go bigger, go home.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Yeah, I mean, he wants his stuff. to work. So, I mean, if he's asking for music in a treehouse, he wants the music to work. So basically, you'll go over to the treehouse, do your thing, and then he'll go into the treehouse and fix what you messed up. Is that what you were saying? That's not the plan. I hear you, buddy. Did you have a complex about your accent, your German accent when you first met, Dale? Yes. In fact, I try to avoid him because I just wanted to do my job. And Kelly knew that I had an accent obviously and Branda and the few people that work there then you know so i always try to avoid him until jr roads um his then road manager uh he asked me to come in the office and he was sitting
Starting point is 00:34:47 there and jr starts asking questions trying to make me speak which you know i try to get by with single words and yes and no and but eventually he you know i'm one example how do you talk when you're not trying to talk with a german accent well i mean he would say something like uh hey martin how's it going i said good and obviously you You know, it was obviously he wanted to make me talk. And so finally gave in and, you know, said a couple of things. And sure enough, you know, he used my German accent. Dale actually was really cool about it.
Starting point is 00:35:15 He got up and he said, Martin, hey, you got to know, the Earnhardt family is from Germany. You know, and this is long before he actually did the whole genealogy and research on his family, which was, I believe, in 2012. So that was way before that time. One of my favorite Jeremy 360s was when you and I, a couple years ago, decided to go shoot you. doing cannonballs in Dale Jr.'s pool. Do you remember this? Yes.
Starting point is 00:35:40 I honestly couldn't remember if we actually asked him permission to go do this in his pool. Do you remember if we asked permission? Oh, we didn't. But you know what? Remember, he got back to you or I, or he told somebody, man, this is the most action this pool has seen in a long time. I believe it. You were doing some flips.
Starting point is 00:35:58 You even took your shorts off in there, didn't you? Well. You don't want to go there. You know, Martin, I had this idea for another Dirtymo Radio. podcast, and you and I actually discussed this, and that was to do a segment called Dale Jr. International News, and basically you give us the news update in another language. I just thought it would be funny, right? I think it's necessary, actually.
Starting point is 00:36:19 And so, you want to give it a shot right here on Takes a Nation? Yeah, do you want me to? I think we should, all right? Let's do this. Okay. This is Dell Junior International News with your host, Martin Friedrich. Goodn talk, my gentlemen and gentlemen. That are the international news for Dirtymoor Radio.
Starting point is 00:36:35 Dale Earnhardt Jr. had bestedged that he in June this year's a reissed with the party his friend Amy Ryman
Starting point is 00:36:44 and his sister Kelly Earnhard Miller with E.M.L.W. You believe it not. As reiser was Martin Freetly
Starting point is 00:36:51 bestate, the race is the besteating in the land his forefarin to erieferring. All the beteligants
Starting point is 00:36:57 are very very much what they're in Germany find. BISN DEMN D.
Starting point is 00:37:01 D.M. That was the international news. And Dale Jr. International News with your host, Martin Friedrich. Amanda, I don't know about you, but I think we need to make this a segment.
Starting point is 00:37:10 I don't know even on what podcast. What do you think? I don't even know what he said. I don't either. I don't even care. I like that he laughed at himself in Germany. All I can tell you is that it's relevant. It's timely and it is accurate. All right. That actually makes me more nervous than anything. Martin, I think you are on to something here. I think you might need to be a newscaster and not an IT guy.
Starting point is 00:37:29 That was pretty good. I don't know what you said, but that was pretty good. And maybe all those fans, all those ones that are on junior side in Germany, maybe they'll call and let us know what he really said. Martin, listen, I appreciate you being on this segment today.
