Hey, y'all, Dale and I are back in the Dirty Moe Media studio for another round of Bless Your Heart. We've had a big week and lots to talk about. Let's get started. First up, what season is? that y'all. Do you know what season we're in? It's 95 degrees outside, so I'm going a guess summer. No. Well,

I was going more for like pumpkin spice season. Oh. It's officially like pumpkin spice season. Oh, basic season. Rude. Listen, I'm not like a huge pumpkin spice fan. I like a margarita like you, like I'm going to drink one all year anyway. But I mean, they've been

pushing pumpkin spice. I think for a couple of weeks I had a pumpkin spice coffee this morning and I drank a couple of tips But our drink of the week, sponsored by High Rock, is a pumpkin spice espresso martini. A lot of times are too sweet. It tastes fantastic. It's very good. It's a good one. This one's in my top three. I'm shocked because I totally expected you to go, bleh. No, I like stuff that's going to jack me up.

Jack me up. Yeah. Speaking of jacking up, are you excited about your race? Yeah. I'm leaving at the end of the show to go practice all day. I'm going to be back tonight and then the race tomorrow. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to it.

So Florence Motor Speedway, we race the cars tour there every year. I usually run this race. I ran it last year. the car store has two classes, pro and late model stock. I've never raced the pro. So is your first time? It's my first time driving this type of car. Got it.

And my cousin Tony Jr. Has been working on these types of cars for years. He's been kind of managing or general manager of some chassis companies and so forth and well integrated into this type of racing. And I see him every now and then. We stay in touch. and see him at a racetrack or just text him and all that and just keep up with each other. And he keeps telling me, he's like, man, come drive one of my cars.

And so I was with you. And I was like, man, I got one race left this year and kind of. I want to do another one. Kind of get in the itch. My race that I have planned is in Newport, Tennessee, and it's in October. And I was like, you know, Florence is here. I feel like I want to go and do it. And you're like, go do it.

So I text junior. And he's like, I'll figure it out. I'll get something put together. So he put together a car and moved some things around on his end, schedule-wise. So we went and tested Monday. It was 95 degrees and hot and sticky. And it was very uncomfortable. Hot as Hades is what you said.

That went good. And then we'll test again, practice all in. We'll practice with everyone else. All the rest of the teams will be there today. And so we'll kind of have an idea how decent we are. and I think there's 20 pros entered. And then the late mile stocks. That's not as many as the other races, right?

Yeah. The pros fluctuate. Some races will have quite a few. Some races not so much like at Anderson last week. So we had a lot of cars crashed at Hickory a couple weeks, a couple races ago. So at Anderson, our car count was a little low. But kind of getting back up now as we're swinging toward the end of the year, we only got about three or four races left in the cars tour season.

so we race at Florence this weekend and I'll be there. I'm going to run the pro. It's a 100-lap feature right before the late model stock race on Friday night and you can watch it on flow racing or you can actually come in person if you're in the Darlington area for the race weekend and slip on over there. It's only about 10 miles from the Darlington Raceway. Connor Zilich and SVG are going to be racing in the late model stock race. in matching Red Bull cars, so that's super cool.

I'm going to stick around and see what those guys say about the series when they're done. And SVG, what his opinion is. I'm sure he's going to be quite animated about, you know, how these cars drive and what the racing's like. So I'm excited for that. And our traditional competitors, our series is full of personalities, full of hard racers. They'll all be there trying to, you know, make their mark and have a good weekend

Friday night. So hopefully it goes well. It's usually a big stage for us because a lot of people come from over the speed from over Darlington. We'll get a big crowd. A lot of people will be tuning in on flow, obviously because I'll be racing and also because of Connor Zillich and SVG. So it's a big, it's a big deal. I'm more nervous, I guess, that we, I'm more nervous about the weekend going well and us presenting well as a series than my own race. Sure. So. Well, now that you're a car. tour owner that's part of the deal.

So you have to worry about the functionality and the whole thing. Like if we have a, we have good weekends and bad weekends. And when we have a bad weekend, you're kind of like, it's embarrassing. How many people saw that, you know? But when you have a good weekend, you're like, damn, I wish more people saw that. So it's, uh. That's generally how you felt about racing and, you know, when you're racing cars too.

But I'm excited for you because it's fun that you were working with 20 Jr. again. That's one thing. I think you hit right on it perfectly. I was thinking to say that as. I was running my mouth there. The best thing about all this is doing this with Junior again. Me and him haven't raced together in maybe 15 years. Yeah.

13, 15 years. I think the last time we competed together was when we raced the number three Wrangler car at Daytona. That might have been the last time we raced together. So it's been a long, long time since we went to the track. and driving a car that he's prepared is pretty special. Yeah. You know.

Well, you took the girls with you, too, to sit in your car yesterday, and I thought that was great because I had something to do, and I'm like, you've got to take the girls. He's like, all right, I'll just take him to the race shop with me. So they got to hang out in the race shop with Tony Jr. And sit in his lap, and they were print 3D snakes and all kinds of stuff on his phone. He's got a big 3D printer at home, but he can do everything. from his phone remotely.

Yeah. And so they were talking him into all kinds of things. Yeah. Tony Jr. 's a 3D printing fool. He prints all kinds of stuff, draws all kinds of stuff. Yeah. And so I brought the girls because Amy had that thing to do.

And I was like, all, y'all, here's your pen and pad, and you're going to sit in the floor and draw. I'll be work. I'm going to do 30 minutes of work. I got to tighten up my lap belt, this, that and other and just get everything kind of dialed in for the car. And Tony Jr. sit down and they

saw some of his 3D printer photos on his phone and they're like print 3D printer you know they're like get him print me well they're all into snakes and dragons and all that stuff nothing feminine it's all just like kind of masculine scaryish you know print me a snake and they like snakes and dragons and stuff and

Tony I'm like hey probably can't do that girls you know it's printers at home and Tony Jr's like pick your sake out right here boop poop okay it's printing here's a camera on my printer at home showing you the thing being printed. I'm like, good Lord. Dale, were you slightly jealous?

I was. I was like, what's that at? Tell me, show me. Tell me everything. Teach me how to do this. Tony Jr.:'s got way more technology than I do. He had the girls full attention. I know.

He's got two little boys about the same age. So that's why he's got all these things running like that. Because I'm sure they're doing the same thing at home. But I thought that was great too. So they got to go enjoy it with you. And it'll be, it's not just Tony. You said, you know, Tube Beer will be there too. So it's kind of like.

Tony's senior maybe there. Total like. It's a big. I call the family reunion. Yeah. So I was teasing this with some folks of mine in the industry. And I was like, yep, we've got a big announcement. Two big, two Red Bull athletes are going to join us this weekend.

And we got a big family reunion plan. And it's because that's kind of what the deal is. Hopefully there's no red in the face fights happening. Yeah. I'll say this. There's been a few of those. Yeah. I feel less stressed out about it because the pro class is our.

the pro class is our that's the one our late model stock class has 30 entries most every weekend we are full and it's it's rather healthy and it's kind of always been the main focus of the of the cars tour east

our pro class is growing really fast and it's this sort of you know young new plant even though the pros have been around forever it's this sort of young new thing that we're seeing a lot of growth and we're trying to nurture it and all that. So, but it's not as stressful running the pro as I think it is the late mall stock. The late mall stock class is just, I don't know, there's such a. The rowdy.

It's, it's hard. Yeah. Now, the pros will be hard too. I mean, I looked at the pro entry list. There's not, not any slouches in there. So that would be fun. Yeah. I mean, if it wasn't hard, why would you go?

I know, I know. I'm just, I don't know if I'm, I mean, Harvick's like, Harvick ran our late model stock. Why doesn't Harvick run this for it? Why didn't he get in this one? I'm going to tell you. Harvick ran our late-mile stock class, and then he hasn't messed with it since, and he's went and done pros and supers,

and he's trying to grow the West Coast Cars Tour stuff, which is going fantastic. And in conversation, I was like, man, I'm going to run this pro, and he's like, man, you're going to love it. He's like, it's calm or it's easier. It's less stressful. He's like, that late-mile stock stuff, you better be doing that shit every week to be decent.

at it and you got to focus, focus, focus, studies, you know, look at your line, your throttle, your data, this and that, another trying to like squeeze every thousandth of a second out of everything you can do because everybody there is just all over top of each other. Not that the pros aren't competitive, but he's like,

man, I just want to show up and jump in and go. And he's like, in super super's and pros, I feel more confident to be able to just go do that. I don't, I don't have the bandwidth to really put days and days and days of preparation into it. So, see. I think if I enjoy this, maybe I do a little bit of a mix of both going forward.

Yeah. You haven't seemed stressed out about it, that's for sure. I get a little nervous just because I want to be good and I don't want to have a, I don't want junior in them to have a bad experience. Yeah, well, I'm bringing the girls to watch you too. I talked to Lailen into letting us come yesterday. The girls are asking me, like, where is dad going? He's going to go race. And I'm like, yeah, it's, it's in. They're like, why aren't we going to? We're going to go to the beach house and spend Labor Day weekend at the beach house. And Dale's like, on the way, kind of. Florence isn't really on the way, but it's like indirectly on the way. I'm like,

I should just take the girls. I should just surprise him and just go, but is that a good idea? I need to at least talk to Kenny. Somebody's going to tell Dale that we're coming, and I should just tell him we're coming. So he can wrap his head around it. He gets real worried with us being there. Well, don't get worried with you. Being there,

it's your approach that I'm worried about. I'm like, all right, they're going to be here any minute. Is somebody going to meet? Like, I can't be standing there in the parking lot meeting you accepting you. I want your entry and your way in to be super convenient, super easy. I know you're going,

going ass woman, you can do it. I'm just saying, like, I get nervous. And Kenny's got me. I know. I just worry that,

all right, man, here she's, they're a mile away, you know. Somebody, Stefan, go out there.

There should be pulling up. I feel like you enjoy the anticipation if this is what you're thinking about so much. And I love seeing, y'all, y'all bring me back down to earth, you know. and so I like the presence of you being there,

but I get anxious about whether you're comfortable, whether y'all are comfortable. We're going to be fine. Even if we're uncomfortable, we're going to be fine. Speaking of comfortable, I am not comfortable with you using my skillets. Yesterday I go to make a roast.

What a transition. Right, I'm not comfortable with you in my toolbox. And let me hear me out. Skilets. Let's talk skillets. I went to go try to make dinner for my family. It's 1 o'clock in the afternoon. I'm going to put a pot roast on.

And I need my cast iron skillet to sear it before I stick it in my instant pot. I'm like, I can't find it anywhere. And I know I haven't used it. I don't think he's been cooking. But he's in the kitchen. I'm like, do you know where my cast iron skillets at? And he goes, um, I'm like, you. He goes, I may have cooked some liver mush in it when you were gone.

whatever day that was. I was like, but where is it? He goes, it might be downstairs. I was like, is it soaking in limbermush slop? Like, is it sitting in the sink just, because that's what he does. He's just like, everything has to soak. I'm like, go find it. He's like, it's downstairs. I'm like, I'm not going to go fix it. You go find it and bring it and you clean it. Like, I can't look. You know what I mean? So I get a different one out and like do my thing and get it going. And it wasn't too bad. He cleaned it up pretty easily. It wasn't soaking in water. Thank goodness. Because he wouldn't, he doesn't care about the. the actual pot itself.

I've seen this man ruin some skillets and pots in the kitchen. Skilots got to be tough. Well, I mean, he used to, so when I first started dating and I first moved in, he had a walk. Yeah. He loved making every single time he ate. It was bell peppers and beef in a walk with a pound of sauce and seasoning in it. Like a lot. Yeah.

And so that was his go-to recipe. And I watched him make that over and over and over again and then burn the skillet over and over again. Beyond repair. So like Brenda was always bringing in a new home goods walk. Was it at least good? It was too salty for me to eat, but he was so proud of himself and he ate it. So it's all that mattered. He was taking care of himself. So fast forward, I move in. He's still walking. And then I start taking over in the kitchen. Shout out to the walkers out there on my walk. No walk is, no walk is tough enough for Dale and Hart Jr. None. There are no walks. I can stand up to this man.

It's such, the walk is awesome because, you know, when you cook in a pan and you get a little, you know, you're stirring or moves it around, it flies all over the place and it flies. And it's, and it's, you know, spits. He acts like he's a hobachi chef and he's like toss up over the stove. He's clanking his metal thing in there. But if you got a walk, man, that didn't go anywhere. And it stays down in there and it cooks centrally in the middle of the, I mean, the walk is. It's actually. A walk is a great tool.

Great tool. He's winning me over. Speaking of being a tool, like, it's one of you. He used to do that so much that, like, and also, this is the other thing he doesn't understand. You can't use a metal fork or anything metal with a coated pan. He was always doing that. And some of those walks were coated. All of us are learning.

I can see all the men in the room going. Well, you scratch the lining. And then. No, I didn't know about a metal fork. Noted. Noted. Yeah. It scratches the lining.

And then eventually you've damaged your pan. The lining's chipping. Yeah. So the last time he used a walk, he was cooking chicken in it. and I'll come over. You should be charging for this knowledge. You should have like, you should get like, you know, you can have like a big class. This is free, please.

For me, for me, for bachelors. Don't use your fork in your skillet. Unless it's a cast iron. Here's a couple of rules. No. Don't let Dale Jr. in your kitchen. In your coated pans, all right?

That's a big one today. That's what we're going to focus on today. And Dale Jr. It has to be on the fringes of the kitchen. He's not allowed to come in. You take care of your coated pans. Oh, my God. So the last time he used his walk, he's cooking chicken in it.

I come in, I'm like, wow, that's a lot of pepper on there. He's like, I didn't put any pepper on it. Well, he had chipped away all the teflon lining onto his fucking food. And I was like, okay, you're officially evicted. This kitchen is now mine. Get out. Because you can't eat that. And he was like, oh, man, that was my last chicken breast.

Now what am I going to eat? I was like, soup, get out. Get out here. It was the beginning of the end of him cooking. But that's why I get so frustrated when he steals my stuff. Dude. Because he's going to ruin it. He's going to.

I got to tell you. So the liver mush cooking day, y'all went somewhere. You and the girls. Y'all were gone somewhere. So it was just me at the house by myself. Where do we go? I don't know. It was just last week.

Wait, was it when Amy was in Key West? Yes. Yes. I had the girls. Oh, and the girls were at Tammy's. They were having a sleepover at Kay J's house. So you, it was like, third, second or third day of your trip.

It was the first day. Or Tammy, okay, well Tammy and then Tammy, the girls go to Tammy's around 4 p.m. And so I was like, woo-hoo. I had the beer cold downstairs. Music blasting. Oh, that's right. I was cooking liver mush. I was having liver mush for dinner.

Oh, man. I had to, I had all the sports on all the TVs. Did you dance around in your underwear? What have men do when they're by themselves? I were. Just listening to the music. music cloud. I wore very comfortable pants and a hoodie, probably. He used to sit downstairs. He claims he gets so cold drinking beer that he needs an extra jacket. So he used to have one of those,

it's not, what is the thing, the big hoodie thing. It was like a gimmick you used to see on an infomercial. Oh, like a, um, you know what I'm talking about. It looks like a giant blanket with a hood. The blanket that's got the arms. Yeah, a snuggy. He used to sit downstairs in a snuggy and drink beer. It's a snuggy, but it's just a hoodie. It's not like the whole, the It goes down to his knees. It's pretty big. What I learned, though, I think Dale just gets... Too many knees.

Dale just gets cold, period. I do. It's always cold. It's 90. He's in a hoodie right now. It's 90 degrees outside. He got the hoodie in the store because he's cold again. It's 90 degrees outside. You walk into this room and it's just uncomfortable how chilly it is.

I think it's perfect. I mean, you got a hoodie on. This is a light way. I could take it off me comfortable. You're wearing a hoodie. I also have shorts on. This man was made for heat. Hot race cars.

I've been in. He's acclimated as it being hot. Yeah, I get it. You get cold, you see. But I just wanted to, like, that is my toolbox. Those are my things. That is how I could for you. If I went to the toolbox in the garage and got a hammer out and used it and then, like, left it in the yard.

It would be very frustrating and upsetting, right? Like, if I used your tools and didn't put them back. Like, left it out in the rain for it to rust. You do. Don't you dare start making things up. I always put the tools back exactly where they were. I went into. No, sir bob.

Well, let me think. minute. Let me counter. I knew you were going to just make this. You were just going to do this. Well, you brought it up. I go into the garage about two, three weeks ago, and Amy has, Amy has wanted to hang something. So she's got the box of nails. We have the little little toolbox of her. This is at the beach house, by the way. No, no. This is home. No. Please. Let me finish. I'm, I'm, this is what happened. On the counter in the garage is our little tackle box of nails. And then there's a body hammer. So.

That's the only one I use. I know it, Amy. The dead get her outer. There's a body hammer at my house. And we have regular hammers. We have all the hammers. And Amy loves using the body hammer, like for race car bodies. She loves using the body hammer to hang stuff.

There's a story about that hammer, by the way. Okay. So, but it's the box of nails and the hammer are laying on the counter. Like you'd either plan to use it and hadn't used it yet or you had used it and that's where it ended up

I probably was planning to go upstairs and hang all the things on the wall for the girls. Like I asked you the other day I'm like I need your help hanging these things. That's probably what I was going to do. Probably, yeah. But I generally put it all back

exactly where it was. For sure. I grew up with a dad that made that very clear. He put it right back. What's the story on the hammer? So when I first moved to North Carolina and I was doing interior design still,

I needed a hammer. I was going somewhere to like install paying picture maybe at Brad Kay's. I can't remember. and I had not had a chance yet to like go get a tool set or whatever to do all that. So you gave me the dent getter router as my interior design tool. So I was walking around installing things in people's homes for interior decorating with a body hammer.

With a racing tool. So I assume that that's mine ever since. Like that's my dent get a router. That's my picture. I wonder why you have it like so like we have all the other hammers and she still uses that one. Like when she bypasses all the other hammers and gets the body. body hammer just continue to it works yeah it must

it's mine you must like it how is dale with knives it puts them all in the dishwasher that's another thing that drives me absolutely bonkers i cannot get my good knives to like get wiped and cleaned hand washed and then like put back he does that with the steak knives too i'm like dail please and there wouldn't handle it's like you're not supposed to put any of that stuff in the dishwasher and he's always like you know how they make this with high heat

dirt dirt der i'm like that's how they get rusted is in the dishwasher this would be this would be lesson number two lesson number two in the class of things you need to know. I still can't get him to stop doing that. Can we work on this, Dale? No, he's not going to work on it. Can I work on it? Yeah.

Like get better at it? Yeah. What do you mean? Like not put the knives into this while I'm sure. Oh, I'm aware. We know you're aware, but can we work on this? Wenzel. I mean, I've not done it lately.

I used to do it. I don't do it anymore. Teacher? Fail. You don't have to do, you don't have to lie for the sake of the show. No, I'm not lying. You are. I'm going to take, please.

There's only one sitting in the sink right now. In the sink, yeah. Yeah. Not in the dishwasher. But you can't, you got to clean it off. You can't let soak there in the water. No, or like, there's no water. All the food bits on it.

Just laying in an empty sink. That's where the rust spots happen. Where the food sits on it. Just clean it. She's right. I mean, I'm not, I've not used the damn knife. You haven't used a knife? The one that's, if there's one laying in a sink, I didn't use it.

Honey. You used it for cutting up your steak. You made some roast the other night. I never cut the roast. I clean my knives, but when you use a knife, you don't. That's the point. And then they used to go in the dishwasher. They still sometimes sneak in there somehow.

All the knives, the big knives, get in there too. He doesn't give a shit about my toolbox at the point. Respect the toolbox. Dang, all right, y'all. Let's talk about whatnot. Why? Because that's important. lifted back up? No. I think we need to just get it in the show. Oh, well, I'm on

what-not, y'all. I started a whatnot. I don't know. Oh, yes, I do. So I follow this late on Instagram. She sells consignment, really nice handbags. It's a fun follow just to even see what she can find because they're just pretty in fun to look at. But she started a whatnot page, which led me to whatnot because I wanted to see what did it look like. We're sitting on the couch. Dale's always on whatnot. Yeah. We're sitting on the couch. We're sitting on the couch and I'm every you know if we're sitting on the couch at home probably every 15 minutes or less I'll go over to aim and go what's you doing and so you know we're just sitting there and watch TV in silence whatever and and periodically on and off our phones I'll just be like

what's you doing and she goes and she says I'm starting a whatnot account and I was like he was the hell for real like I thought she was joking I thought she was being a smart ass and uh which would have been far for the course. She was like, no, I really am. And I'm like, why? And she's like, well, she knows she's telling me about this lady with the purse. And I'm like, well, shoot, just use mine. Just sign into mine and you can use mine and I can use mine. Wanted to stop my sign up process. He's like, you can just log into mine on your phone. That way you don't have to do all this set up stuff. And then we can just share one. And I was like, well, then aren't you going to see all the girly things that I'm liking kind of pop into your feed? And he's like, yeah, but then maybe I would

get some ideas. And I was like, I. I don't know. And he was like, yeah, just get online, buy whatever you want. That's right. Like, this sounds like a bad idea. Yeah. Eventually, he came, he just kind of thought about it for a second. And he's like, you're right.

You just do your own account. I don't need these suggestions, purses and such. So, I didn't even know that that was like a thing. So, right. Consignment handbags? No, everything. What's on, whatnot? He thought it was just sports cards.

It's so much. You can buy just about anything. Yeah. I didn't know that. Yeah. So Amy is. sitting there. This is awesome for me because I got on whatnot probably maybe I don't know two, three months ago. And it's addicting. It's just, you know, you'll fire it up and there's always

somebody on there selling. So for me, baseball cards or sports cards, there's always someone on there selling vintage cards, which is what I like. I'm not, I don't know enough about the modern cards to really know what I'm buying. So I know the vintage stuff really well and I can, I can price pretty quickly. So I go on there, I'm like, oh, hell yeah, I absolutely need that second year Lawrence Taylor. You know, okay, I can get that. It's worth nine bucks. Okay, this guy's six bucks. You got it, man. I'll take that. It's, I got a deal. Look at me. I just, I just made three dollars. Yeah, Dale likes to justify all of his things, no matter what it is. Yeah. And so you can fire that thing up any time of the day. And get some satisfaction. And there's somebody on there and

gets, you know, you get that little, that little boost. Dale and I can find something we might need to take home in any store we go into. So like, whatnot's dangerous for people like us. And so I'm sitting there and I know what the whatnot experience is like for the, you know, when you're sitting there watching somebody's sales stuff. And so to sit there and watch Amy open that app for the first time and see those girls in there going, here's your bag. And they're just talking and talking about this bag and their bags all are in the background. He was hovering over my shoulder like, ask him to see that one. That one. You just showed me. I was like, I don't want that. I just was telling you, I just was telling you, tagged it just to see how this work.

I'm just trying to see how this process works. Amy's like, I like this bag, and I think, you know, it's worth this. And I was like, ask them to show you that purse. That's the one you won't. Well, it was my first time. I didn't want to like. And she was like, no, no, no, I don't want to do that. I don't want to do it. No, just trying to learn. She was nervous.

Yeah. I like, they can't see you. They don't know you're here. After the thing was over, what I think is fun, too, about, like, they're showing you all the things. And then when they actually put it up there, you have like 20 seconds. That's it. Isn't that right?

Every auction is handled different. Some people might put... This one's pretty fast. Yeah. Some people put up like long two, three minute timers. Sometimes it's a 10 second timer. And if you bid, it resets to 10 seconds. So like every time somebody bid, it resets.

So you can't really come in and snipe in the last second. There are sudden death where they set the timer and it runs out. So everybody's swiping as fast as they can. Well, you can also set in your max bid and it'll automatically do that stuff for you. You could on this one. Unless somebody... Yeah. You can, but if it goes over, you know.

Then you got to pay attention. Yeah. Well, I ended up buying a necklace, which. She bought something. Yeah. He was like, did you buy anything? Did you buy the purse? I was like, no, I didn't buy the purse.

I was just looking at the purse, but I bought a necklace. So he was excited about you being on what dot. And the first purchase is something that we know he doesn't want. Yeah. I'm going to wear it next week. It was supposed to arrive Friday, but we won't be in town. So I had him hold it until Tuesday. And so I'll wear it for Dale next week.

No, not for me. Right for you. Right for here. Somewhere else. My Whatnot necklace. So anyhow, I thought it was really cool that she checked it out. I keep checking it out. How often have you been on it since?

So my Instagram is 12 hours this week. That's not shocking. Messages is also 12 hours. Safari is three hours. I'm one hour on Google. I've been on Zara quite a bit. What not is four hours. What about Twitter?

Twitter is 12 hours. It's the same as my Instagram. That tracks. Yep. It's not even in here. It's like way far down there. So it's not wrong. So you're still in the infancy.

Yeah. I'm trying to keep it reeled in. I'm not going to spend that. I mean, I'm not going to be on there. Just buying it, by and buying. I feel like when you buy expensive things too, because what I'm following is, or what I've got on there to look at.

Yeah. We had our draft this week. We have been talking about it and talking about it and talking about it for fantasy football. I have an all-girls group. That's basically who I wanted my trip with. It's like my core group of friends.

It was supposed to be Tuesday night at 7 o'clock. I pick up both of the girls at 6.30. He's off racing and testing his car. So I pick the girls up. I'm like, I have just enough time to get home and launch my draft. No problem. It was one of those days

that I was just like the Energizer Bunny. I had done so many different chores, and I get home and I start slinging food, putting the girls to bed, doing all the things. I'm sitting on the couch. It's 10.30. But before I even get to the couch, I get home, and I'm talking to Dale in the kitchen,

I have 174 missed text messages only in my fantasy football group chat. And I look at Dale and I was like, I have 174 text messages from my fantasy football league girls. And I just put my phone and I was like, I can't catch up. And so I just kept moving. The light bulb didn't think about it at all. Finally get the girls down at 8.30.

I sit down on the couch. I'm watching TV. Dale has gotten a love letter from TJ to get up and play video games. So he has left the room. Dale, come funny. And I'm like, oh my God. I missed my draft. That's what all the text messages were about.

That's what all of the funny comments are like, well, you got an A. There's comments in there of like, Amy got an A. Amy got an A. I'm like, I don't know what they're talking about. but I don't have time right now to like figure it out. That's what it was. My auto draft did really well, but I miss my damn draft. I'm seeing a pattern of you just not showing up to hang out with your friends.

That's pretty good. Oh, sorry, Travis. He's talking about himself. Yeah, I know. That wasn't my fault. It wasn't my birthday. Listen, I miss my draft. I was so mad about it.

It was like that moment in like home alone when she realizes that Kevin wasn't on the plane, I was like so mad at myself. I even went in there and interrupted his video games. I'm like, the text messages were about my... I missed my draft. I can't believe it. I missed my draft.

And he was like, shh, okay, everybody can hear you. I'm playing hill at loose. Oh. And everybody's like, who's that? What's that?

Draft, where is it? What? Just my wife. Just never mind. All of my buddies were in disarray. No, were you going to blind draft anyways or did you actually do like some homework? I hadn't done any homework.

but like I've done a pretty good job not doing the homework anyway. You just use the rankings. I mean, we're all pretty professional at it. It's year 14 now. I'm going to do it for a while. I'm going to talk to Chad. And we don't auto draft. I think we did that one year because everybody had like half of us had little children

and it was just too much. I feel like. And we all hated it because we like the competition and we like talking shit to each other. We used to get in a room with our laptops and do it together. We kicked the guy out of our league this year because he keeps auto draft. in every year. Oh, really? Yeah.

And we feel like if you don't, if you auto draft, you shouldn't. Then you don't care. You shouldn't. Well, no, I feel like if you ought to draft, you shouldn't,

um, enjoy the rewards. Like even if you win. Yeah, because you didn't draft and you got lucky. So like if you, you know, if you finished second,

it's 50 bucks. Like that goes to the third place guy. So you just like, note that at the beginning? You could. You say, girls, I'm sorry.

If I do well, maybe I'm, I forego 50% of my reward. Yeah, so we do winner takes all, so it really doesn't matter. I mean, the chances of me winning are pretty low. But anyway, I was just super frustrated. Not really if you auto-drafted. It actually gives you pretty good chance.

The more you... The first round picked up the bed the first weeks. I know, I'm just saying like the more you meddle in your draft, at least my experience, the more you meddle in it, the less chance you have to win. Like the auto-draft guy in our league was always good. Yeah. We'll see. And it's like, God dang.

And you would see his team and you'd be like, man, I don't, I don't like those picks. You had a couple sleepers in there. That's what the auto draft chose and then goes out and he makes the playoffs and battles for the overall title. Well, I'm looking forward to football season. I'm looking forward for it to get cooler outside for layering, for sweaters, for football, all the things. I'm excited. It's going to be fun. We like to get together and watch.

We do. We wear our, you know, our jerseys on and stuff. in the house when the commanders are playing and we're home. We turn it on and get all fired up. When is your draft? Next Tuesday. The Tar Hills beat TCU

for their home open or their opener. They weren't home. They were in Dublin. But that was cool. They got embarrassed last year. And everybody's like predicting the downfall of the Tar Heels because of Belichick. But they won.

So that was cool. They go play East Tennessee next. So that might be another victory before they go to Clemson. and have a hell of a hell of a time trying to beat them. So I like college football's back so we can do some sports betting. He's already started doing that.

I can't bet on racing, so I have to find other outlets to sports bet. Hey, hold on, though. We have a guest. Oh, shh-h-ish. Hey, Cleas. Damn, what a surprise.

What's he doing? He's putting a suit on. He's dressing up. Oh, you've altered it. He's got his best. All right. Oh, it's sleevel. is supersonic.

I thought it. It was a compliment. I didn't think I was blasting. Do you think you were connecting? You said I was several levels underdress. Yeah, but at the end I said, they don't give a shit. They're just, they're themselves. It actually, I think it made me cooler.

It did. You were already cooler. But still, I had to, like, you know, I had the rebuttal. I flew a helicopter yesterday. Stop it. Yeah, the big one. We need a link posted where we can buy that. I'm surprised Amy didn't take it.

Oh, my, okay, cool. You're a helicopter. Yeah, the one he gave me. I stood out in the driveway. I'm surprised that you didn't take a picture of me standing out there in my socks. I didn't see you. Did you do good? I crashed it a couple times, but that was because I tried to fly the big one in the garage.

So I watched the guys get in the car with him. and he had the car full, and he takes off, and he's drifted and turns out. I didn't know what they were going to do. I thought they were just going to run some laps pretty fast.

And I was like, holy smokes, look at him go. And Dale was riding shotgun. And, you know, he's a race car driver. Being in another race car driver's car doing all that, like, it's got to be rather uncomfortable. Like, you're not in control. You know what I mean? So I was, like, blown away by the whole thing. And then they get back in.

And he's like, you need to get in the car now. I was like, uh, nope. And he's like, oh, yeah, you're getting in the car. you're doing this. And Dale was like, you can't come all the way here to the freedom factory and not get in the car. I was like, well, okay, you make it a point. And so I helmet up and I get in and I had the time of my life. I was screaming Yahoo the whole damn time.

Yeah. It was so fun. And we didn't even crash. We didn't crash. We didn't even barely rode the wall. He was very safe. He turned on the sirens, which I didn't know the car had. And I thought it was Amy.

But it was actually sirens. Well, I was screaming and sirens. the car and I couldn't hear the sirens. There was like a blend of Amy and sirens at one point. Yeah. We got perfect pitch. I thought Dale was going to be more like, oh, let me just watch. So when you threw on the helmet, I was pretty pumped.

But then when you said, Amy's got a ride, I felt like I got like. Vanboozled? I felt like I got knighted, you know, like Dale was like, he's like, you take Amy on this ride. It's like I got knighted as a race car. You got, that's hilarious. You got so many cool points for turning the car around and putting Amy off on the other side of the wall. So like when we were doing it, you had me on the wall side. Is that why you did that?

It's called the precious cargo route. Oh, well, you kept saying that. I'm like, I don't really understand what he's talking about. When we went out there and he turned and was going to go around the track backwards, I was like, I don't really know if I was like, what a gentleman. I understand this, but okay. I know. I earned a lot of brownie points from it. Well, I appreciate it.

it was a lot of fun. Yeah, you know, because it's like if you lose the engine or something, you end up laying into the wall on the side that, you know, you're up again. So I figured with Dale being there, I'm like, oh, he'd probably brush it off. But, you know, when I take the ladies for rides, I try to try to be a gentleman. What was really impressive or surprising was just what he did with me and Amy goes through a set of tires. Like they have to change rear tires after just what you saw on the show. Which is like five minutes of fun.

Yeah, it's like five minutes and you burnt through 30,000 miles of tire. I feel like it's also part of the reason I solo spin a lot. I'm always kind of looking for that little step out. Yeah. And maybe I'm a little too comfortable in that zone. And that's why my rear rights or right rears don't really last. as long. Yeah.

You're a wild man. You're like, I just said that to you the other day. Like, you have no fear, which is great. Well, it's not scary once you do it, you know? Once you do it enough. Yeah. I want to teach Dale to do it. I want to learn how to do it.

I think you'll pick it up like that. And then, I mean, my goal is when you come to town is to get you to rip the big bank, you know, maybe once twice. What does that mean? Rip the big bank. Where are we going? Do it. Where we were.

If you learn on the little bank inside. Yeah. If you rip the big bank, it's like you grab. graduate. Ah. Yeah. Which I think, you know, what could possibly go wrong? Are you going to go?

I mean, we're, when we'll have to get back out there. And I think I definitely, I definitely, I will be back at the Freedom Factory sometime within the next 12 months. And during those, during that trip, I expect to get an opportunity to be tall how to do it. I've tried to do it before and I've not been very successful. Like we did, we had a little session. You didn't have the teacher. We had a little session in the infield at Charlotte Murray Speedway years ago.

Yeah. But it was in production cars and they got all these little, they got all these little buttons you got to mash to turn everything off and traction control and all this stuff. It's too fancy. You know, turbo. I think what people would even more rather see is Amy race the mom pre.

Yes, we need that. The pressure is, hey, she's got to. You guys are bringing the heaters today. I mean, Amy, we need to see out there with the rest of the mall. I did race one time. And it was Dale's 40th year, so it's been a little minute. It's been 10 years. They had the Better Half Dash at Charlotte every year,

and Dale talks me into doing the Better Half Dash. We go to the practices, we get set up. Qualifying is on his birthday party day, which he didn't know about. It was a surprise. So I missed qualifying and started in the back. And Jordan Fish wrecked me in the first lap. And I was so mad about it. I was like, I'm never doing this again.

No, you need redemption. And plus, at ours, you know, all the husbands are the crew chiefs obviously and we are also the announcers for the race and we're in charge of the beverages. Oh my gosh. So like we, you know, we manage a lot while you girls just have fun.

We're completely switching roles is what you're saying. You're doing all the multitasking and the girls are in the car. The gentlemen do the qualifying too. Oh. Put the lap. That's fun. So your husband can really set you up for success is what I'm saying. Are we going to do it?

When is this? I'll get you some dates. I'll get you in touch with my people. My people call your people. That's right. Oh my gosh. All right, man. Hey, thanks, guys.

They're a lot of fun. They're all very nice people, absolutely, but they are a ripping good time. And it's quite the production. I didn't realize how much they had going on until I got down there. Amy, think if you did the mom pre, you could kind of act like Dale did when he raced and like, you'd be like, Dale, I need you to be here with me. You can't do anything. If I'm not doing anything, I've got to focus. Like, it could be your chance.

So show him what it looks like to show him the mirror. Yeah. Oh, my gosh. Oh, yeah. I would have to take some notes and really prepare. pair and like getting into character and the whole thing. We get you a cool fire suit. That sounds awful.

I want one that looks like evil clean evil. Okay. You know? Yeah. Very patriotic. Yeah. Can I have a cape? Yeah.

That's your race. It's my race. My hot body, I can do with it what I want. I think it'd be pretty neat if she did this. When is that? I don't know. I've heard about it and he's asking. I'm already nervous.

Can you see like a... I know. I know you are going to be a nervous wreck. You're the one that gets to race. and be nervous. I just come to support. I know. I get it now. Yeah. I was so embarrassed when I did that better half dash thing and mad. I'm like, I was doing so good. We went and practiced all day and she did really, really good at the practices, having never erased anything in her life. She was like relatively good. And I was like,

all right, you're going to have fun. And I had T.J.A. in my ear. He was spot on. Oh, Jesus. There was a little bump up lap one and it broke her suspension. So she was just, Like it broke, she was out. Yeah, the car was broken and she was out. And I was like, wow, that was. And we had stood around, remember us standing around at the media center by your car, like waiting for all this? It was such a production.

You know, finally we're going to do it. I was so excited. I got Ulta to sponsor me, so I had an Ulta race suit. You did. Mm-hmm. It was fun. It was. We had the roof from her car.

Yeah, it's in the tree house. It's in the tree house. It's mounted on the wall. Yeah. Number 82, her birthday, her birth year. Yeah. They wanted me to be 88. I was like, I don't know.

I guess I should, but I don't know. Oh, you are you. Yeah, go to your own. That was, that was what made me think it was okay to put the number 82 on her actual car, her streetcar. Is that what that was from? Maybe. Yeah, that was a bad choice. He strapped me down, though, in that first practice.

And also, never racing anything means I've never been strapped into a car like that before. Bandoleros, like climbing into a... tunnel. Yeah. It's tight. And I don't like tight. And I didn't realize how much I didn't like that kind of thing until I got strapped in. So we had a gentleman that was helping us with a car, which was the most embarrassing part.

And then Dale strapped my shoulder strapped in. And I literally could not wiggle. I had a Hans device on. So my head, I couldn't move my head. And I lost it. Do you remember that? Oh, I will never forget that. Dale just looks at me.

And I'm like, screaming, get me out of here. Get me out. Get me out. And I had to scream louder for him to take me seriously to the point where I was like, dude. I know. And I got out and I stood there for a minute. I was like, whoa, that was way more than I expected.

Getting her in there was tough. Getting inside a, getting in a car, buckling up, buckling, getting tight and everything done is a production for anybody. So she'd never done it. So we get her all down in there and everything and I tighten the belts and I get ready to shut the roof and she goes, give me out, give me out. And I'm like, did I hear that right? She's like, get me out. give me out. I want out. I want out. And I'm, I'm like, looking at the... They're both just looking at me. I'm looking at her. And I'm like, surely this is going to...

How crazy do I have to act for you to get me out of this car? I was like, this is going to pass any second. She's going to calm down any second. And she's like, nope, I want out. I'm like, okay, let's get out. And I thought we were done, done. Like, she's like, uh-uh, I ain't doing this. I don't like that. I don't like being strapped in like that. And I thought we were like not racing. So she gets out. She stands there a minute. She takes a couple deep breath. I was like,

and you know, we talked a little bit about it. And she's like, okay, I'm going to get back in there. I'm going to get back in there. And so she like muscled up the energy or the mental fortitude to get back in. At least I knew what to expect them.

Strapped her down in there tight and she was fine. She goes out there and there was another guy that she followed. And he's a racer that runs bandelaries every week. And he was great. He kind of dialed the speed back a little bit. So she kind of followed him and get the line and understand it. And then her lap time's got relatively decent. By the end of the end of the day,

and we were like, I think we're good to go. Yeah. They run that backwards on like pit road up around the front part of the racetrack. And the racetrack part's really fun. But running up pit road backwards, you're like, it's so rough and your eyeballs are bouncing all over the place. Oh, yeah. It's like this is something, but experience check.

Yeah, yeah, she did it. This might be pretty enjoyable. I mean, we'll see. We'll look into it. We'll have to talk about it. They've done it before. We can go on the internet and watch what the last race was. That would be fun.

So TJ's Love Letter, let's talk about that just for a quick second. So Dale gets up to go turn on his computer. He comes back in. He's like, my friend said that they sent you something on your phone. At first, we were sitting on the couch. I haven't played, hell it loose in a long time. And they got a new version of the game that came out. And all my buddies were talking about it.

And I was going to get into it. I haven't raced on my rig in a while. I just haven't had time to do any of that. And I'm sitting there that night. And I've been thinking about trying to get in there and play. And my guys, my buddies are telling me they're going to play that night. So I'm like, Amy, the guy's wondering if I can play some video games. She's like, yeah, go.

I'm like, be sure. Yeah, we're just sitting there on the couch loafing. There's nothing happening. I'm like, I'm going to do that. So I go in there and sit down and turn it all alone. And they're all in there laughing. And they're like, did. Like giggling.

You know how boys do? And they're like, Did TJ get you in trouble? I was like, what you mean? They're like, on Amy's phone. Did you, did she see it? I'm like, see what? So I get up and I go in there,

I'm like, Amy, T.J. sent you something on your phone. She just picks her phone up and she looks at it. And it's this. He had AI to love letter. It says, Dear Amy, I was wondering if Dale could have a hall pass for a couple hours to play some computer games with his computer nerd friends, sincerely computer nerds. But it's like decorated.

There's little emojis and, things all over the page. Yeah, he a-Ied it. I was like, y'all are funny. We played a little hell let loose for about an hour and a half, and that was that. Yeah. It was good. They don't ever do things like that.

T.J. thought he was so clever. Yeah. Usually they're just like. Can Bill come out and play? Can people come out and play? That's very much what it felt like. That was what it was like. So we met Tom Cruise.

We talked about this, I think, on the other show Tuesday. But I've met him a couple times. First time I met him was when he was trying to film the first year. Dangerous Summer, the first days of thunder, he come to talk to dad just to pick his brain about the movie. And I made him again in 2008 at Fontana while we were out there racing. And so I might have seen him once between all over that, but I don't really remember. He's pretty good friends with Mr. H, so he's around sometimes. Rick and Jeff Gordon.

And so I was going to the Freedom Factory and then to the O'Reilly race Friday night at Daytona. And somebody texts me and they go, hey, man, Tom wills meet? Can you stay? I'm like, I'll stay when do you want to meet? And they're like giving me all these different times, 4 o'clock, 3 o'clock, noon, 11, 10. Yeah, he was flying in for the race Saturday,

but he didn't really know what kind of yet. And I'm like, I probably should stay. So. Well, he tells me this. I'm like, yeah, you should say. I tell Amy. No, I'm coming with you. Yeah.

So Amy's going to come, which is cool because she's there. Then she gets to go to the Freedom Factor. She gets to get in the car with Cleetus do the drift. And then, you know, we go. One idea of snowballs into all these other things. Yeah, she goes and see some friends in Daytona while I'm at the rally race. And we get done and we meet up at the hotel and had a beer, had a couple beers and went to bed and got up in the morning. Went straight to the NASCAR hangar.

NASCAR has their own house. hangar over at the airport and Tom flies his own plane comes taxing up and we walk out to the tarmac and talk to him for 10 20 minutes yeah so he gets off the plane and I don't know if he flies his plane with bare feet or if he just didn't have his boots strapped but he gets off the plane and he's kneeling down like saying hello a strapping his boots on like he was just as he seemed he seemed as down to earth as he could possibly be you know you hear stories about how like high energy he is and he seemed he had some energy but it wasn't like alarming he was bouncing off the walls Pretty down earth and I was just blown away by, I mean, that's probably the most famous person I've ever been around.

I was trying very hard to not, like, totally geek out. And I told Dale, I'm only going to speak when spoken to because I've got a loud mouth. Like, sometimes I just can't stop talking, you know. And I was worried I was going to embarrass this vote. So I was like, Dale, I'm not going to say anything unless he says something to me first. But he was very calm and it made me, I didn't feel stupid or weird hanging out. But he sat and talked to Dale about meeting. his dad. That was the first thing he said, he's like, he gets Dale on a hug and he's like,

I have known this guy since he was a little kid. And then he goes on to tell his experience with Dale Sr. And that was fun telling him. So when he came to Dad's shop way back when they were just scouting information for the original Days of Thunder, him and Dad, he walks in. There was a dad and Teresa were like, we're going to meet Tom Cruise. He's coming here. We're all going to be there. Me and Kelly were almost too young to really know much about Tom, but I knew about risky business and all that because that was pretty controversial back then. That movie was pretty risque, and especially for like, I guess that was 12 or so.

And so I was like, oh, man, this young, new, you know, famous, I've never met a movie star. So this is really cool. So he comes in, hey, this is my kids, Teresa, and then immediately him and dad go into dad's little, office, tiny little office in the corner of the building, and they sit in there for an hour, it felt like maybe longer. And they talked about everything in there. And I don't know what the conversation was. Dad never, you know, dad wasn't going to come out and say, here's everything we said.

Yeah, he wasn't getting you a recap. But I was like, finally I get to go, Tom, I really wish I was in that room with you and dad that day. That must have been really cool. And he was like, you know, he went on and on about. He was talking about the race before and they had gotten into a wreck and a parent. Lee Dale Sr., you know, got into somebody, and he said your dad stood up, and he did his little hand on his hip thing with the leg out like you stand and had his head down.

He's like, you know what? You know what boy? Robbins racing. And he's like, and that's why he's going in the movie. So it was cool just to see his energy and enthusiasm about that. Tom asked him. He's like, man, you wrecked that guy last week. You know, what he's trying to like pick his brain about it.

And dad's like, Rubin's racing, Tom. Yeah. And Tom's like, that's going in the movie. Yeah. That's awesome. And so I think Harry Hogg says. that at one point. Of course, I mean, it's not a, it's a very common phrase, but. But he hadn't heard it before, you know. Yeah. And his inner, his, like, fondness of that moment, too, you know,

you could kind of feel that. It was just neat. And then I immediately got, got jealous because even Tom Cruise is, like, met and had experiences with Dale's dad. So, I just often wish that I had, had met him just at least one time. So there's a, there's a, there's a fellow named wheel that is helping is, is, is in charge, I guess, of kind of forming the, the, the, the, the, the show and the storyline and all that. And I've been talking to Will for a year, it feels like, and he's an awesome guy. And so,

and I've enjoyed being able to help them or, or, you know, share my perspective of, of the sport. So, um, what I've learned over the course of this is,

um, how much control time has. And I mean, imagine now, you know, everything he's ever done. of course he has lots of control and influence over over everything he works on but i mean he's he's like steering yeah you know if if he wants to turn if they're going down this road with the

script or the storyline and he wants to take a right-hand turn and change this they do it he does it you know and they're and so he doesn't really fail like he's very passionate about everything and he does his research it's not without all of those all of those things so he's super involved it's not like a you know he don't just show up, you know, learn the script and do what, you know, he's not just, it's interesting. It's really interesting. Yeah. But he cares a lot about it.

That's what I mean. I mean, he's like, he's invested. Like, this is his plan. He's not going to have it. This is his project. And it's not about his ego. It's, he just wants it to be really good. So I'm excited for the next movie.

I love the first one. I never thought they'd make another days of thunder. And there really wasn't, I guess, a need to make another days of thunder. But you get this, you get so far removed. I think when you sort of flip generations or, you know, it's like songs that were very, very good songs, you know, 10 years ago, nobody needs to cover them. No popular artist is going to cover that song. It's only 10, 15 years old, and it would be pointless to really cover that song and feature that song. But a song that's 30, 40, 50 years old, absolutely.

You know, a popular artist could cover that song because a lot of their generation and this generation, doesn't know the song the way, you know, the way the original is. Yeah. I understand. So there a lot of people are hearing it for the first time or hearing that version for the first time. It revitalizes the original also. It's kind of like Top Gun which Tom Cruise did. And they did a

sensational... He gave it time and they crushed it. They did. So I think it's great that they're making this movie. I think it's fantastic for NASCAR. What a credible opportunity to fall into, you know, not fall into their lap, but you know, just a real opportunity to capitalize on shooting a sport into the stratosphere for, you know, maybe we can...

I mean, you'd have to imagine that there's no coincidence that Days of Thunder comes out and the sport goes on this insane run for the next 15 years in viewership, popularity. There was... Did it do that with the original? That's what I mean. Oh, okay. Like when Days of Thunder come out in like 1990, we were going pretty well as a sport,

but I mean those type of things that Days of Thunder wasn't a sole reason why we shot into the freaking stratosphere but it didn't hurt it helped

it was a big help having a having an actor like that um having all of the people that were cast in that movie um making our sport feel important

making it feel legitimate was a big deal so that's an important role that I think Tom takes pretty seriously for this next film yeah because he kept telling us that He's like, man, I really just want the industry to love it. I want to make sure we're showcasing it exactly the way it is.

He's like we're going to do a good job. Yeah, he takes it very seriously. Yeah, I loved it. It was a great experience. Yeah, that's awesome. Well, honey, you got to get ready for a plane. I got a plane to catch, honey. All right.
