Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey everybody, it's Dale Jr. We're back again for another episode of DJD Reloaded. It's Thursday, and we're here to react. We're here to react. There's a lot of stuff to get to. The penalty news is out for a lot of the teams after the Martinsville fiasco. And Carla interviewed Kenny Wallace to talk about the new show. Herm and Schrader, what can we expect? We kind of know what we're going to get from Kenny Wallace, but what's Trader going to bring to the table? And also, Ask Amy. Amy was on the show, and we had an extensive ask Amy. Always a lot of fun, so let's get started. The following is a production of Dirty Mo Media. Welcome into another episode of DJD Reloaded. We were going to do something different. No idea that a tradition was going to be started. The racing world is Connor Zillard's oyster. Is he truly the next NASCAR prodigy? Hey, you did a cartwheel down the stands.
Starting point is 00:00:51 Holding your cooler, your arm never bent. It was like watching an Olympian at its in its pod. All right, so I decided to come in today because of the penalty news. that has come out and I've got this sheet right here. Obviously, the race manipulation, we weren't sure what NASCAR might do, felt like they would do some things. We discussed it on the show Tuesday. The one in the three car, Ross Chastain, Austin Dillon, they, you know, I assumed maybe they might get a one race suspension. That did not happen.
Starting point is 00:01:31 So the drivers were not suspended from the Phoenix race. Weren't sure what really was going to happen with Bubba Wildis. They tore his car down post race. Would they find anything? What would they learn? Would they then penalize him as well? Well, the news is out. And they are going to penalize all three of those guys.
Starting point is 00:01:52 And there's some points being taken away from each driver. I think it's 50 points from the drivers and the owners. That's very in line with what we saw in 2013. Was that 13 with Spingate? Yes, that was 13. Right. I believe that was 50 points for all those teams, but they also removed Trux out of the chase.
Starting point is 00:02:15 There was a monetary fine $100,000 for the driver and the team, so that's $200,000 a piece, a lot of money. $600,000 total, I believe, over half a million dollars in fines. and immediately as soon as the news came out, the teams all sent the message that they're going to appeal. The appeal will be expedited this week. It's happening probably now. And we will find out I don't expect the teams to win the appeal. I think they're going to try to appeal and see what happens.
Starting point is 00:02:50 And yeah, I don't know that they'll have a lot of chance to have success there. That was a safety penalty as well for, I guess, the eight car. The loose tire. Yeah. Yeah. And which is, you know, kind of a traditional penalty that happens from time to time, as well as an issue in the Xfinity series for the 81 team. Chandler Smith was fined $10,000.
Starting point is 00:03:12 For the slap. A behavior. Can you say that word? Behavioral. Is a slap heard around the garage? That's a tough damn word to say. And there's, it's all over the penalty sheet. And the slap gave our boy Cole Custer of a black eye.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Damn. $10,000 black eye right there. I didn't think Slaps could give you a black eye. That's why I asked him if he had a ring on. Maybe the, you know, maybe the, I don't know, the ring into the brow bone could give you the black eye you're looking for it. I was shocked.
Starting point is 00:03:45 I sat there for 20 minutes every in their asses and I didn't see it. And then all of a sudden I'm like, holy shit. There it is? Yeah. I can't wait for him to shut up so I can ask you if he's got a black eye. Who was talking? I can't remember. And man, what a fun time messing with those guys.
Starting point is 00:04:00 That was a good show. My favorite part was telling them how I had told Sam Mayer that he was going to go bowling through their ass if he got the shot. Hey, Jay Holman, he was like, what the hell? He was like, thanks for that. I do. And, I mean, they also weighed in on the whole Martin Zill situation. Well, I'm glad, thank goodness, that NASCAR didn't add somebody.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Now, I could get down with taking somebody out, right? If something happens and you're like, you've got to remove a guy. I mean, that's a death nail. Michael Walter might sit here and say, yeah, man, when they removed Martin, Napa didn't want to come back. We lost all our sponsorship,
Starting point is 00:04:43 and eventually that was the end. That's what could happen to a team if they got pulled out of the playoffs, but I damn sure don't want to see one added. Yeah? That would be wrong. That's like ordering you know, ordering a burger the way you want it
Starting point is 00:05:00 and it coming with more shit on it than you ask for? It's like, I didn't order it this way. Always disappointed. Damn it. I ordered a championship final four in February. I don't want anything else. We were talking about how do you fix this? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:14 Is this enough to deter people from doing this in the future? Dude, you asked some of the best questions. That is an awesome, awesome question. Thank you, Dale. Way to take us where we need to go. No problem. I saw Jeff Gluck comment immediately. He didn't think this is enough.
Starting point is 00:05:33 And I can understand that. It's kind of how I felt. And so in my mind, I'm thinking, all right, do I not understand? So Jeff Gluck then followed up that tweet by saying, okay, you know, 50 points cost this driver this. Like it didn't affect one. One guy dropped one position. The three, Austin Dillon, lost like,
Starting point is 00:05:55 four or five spots, a little bit more tough. What is that in terms of money in the final standings? That would be how you might quantify that. So Dylan dropped from 28th to 33rd, Bubba 17th to 18th, and Chastain stays the same in 19th.
Starting point is 00:06:14 So it didn't really bother one driver and it hurt the other a little bit monetarily. I don't know how much that cost them from 28 to 30, whatever. I and I don't know I honestly don't know how much a hundred thousand dollars hurts will I mean so there's a lot of rumor out there that all these guys are all rich this is a big rich sport that doesn't really bother them and I bet the manufacturer pays it anyways that's what a lot of people are saying so I don't really know I honestly don't know if
Starting point is 00:06:54 I think in some cases, drivers have paid their own fines. In other cases, the team owner has backed them up. I think Ty Majeski, there was a bit of a miscommunication, possibly from both sides, where Ty Majeski was penalized for not being at Media Day yesterday because he was voting. And I don't know that they, I don't think that each side kind of knew what was going on.
Starting point is 00:07:17 And, you know, so he says, you know, in that case, I bet the owner passed. pays the fine. I got you covered, man. No problem. And so in this case, maybe the manufacturer will pay the fine. If I was an owner sitting there with $200,000 worth of fines and I'd done something to try to help the whole group, I'd go, well, Chevy, I'm in a hell of a damn predicament here,
Starting point is 00:07:44 right? So I don't know what Chevy can, I don't know if Chevy would write that check or not. That's a lot of money, knowing what kind of involvement Chevy has in our sport. So I think it's a lot of money. I think the points are a lot. That's for sure. But I still stand by the idea that to really get someone's attention, I think parking them a race is the driver.
Starting point is 00:08:10 The way it goes, yeah. And even if, I mean, listen, and I, some people have said to our idea, to my idea of parking the drivers, a lot of people said, oh, no, no, no, the drivers were just doing what they were told yes you're right is parking the drivers a little bit misguided absolutely but what it does is it will be the it will be enough of a deterrent for someone to not do it again it doesn't it's not a death nail or or a death sentence to a team
Starting point is 00:08:49 there's no one here with a great idea and a great way to penalize the manufacturer or to deter them. People said, oh, go after the manufacturer's points. I don't know if that really matters, does it? We don't seem to care about these 50 points for the drivers. Do the manufacturers? Do we know they care about that? Does that going to make a big difference? So are you going to really go, say, hey, man, Chevrolet, you lost the manufacturer?
Starting point is 00:09:19 title this year because of this. I don't know, right? That might. So while parking the, while parking a driver, the driver might sit here and go, what the hell, man? And the fans might go, well, that's a little misguided.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I still think that that's the proper deterrent because the money and the points is hard for any of us fans, that's the laymen's, right, to go, oh yeah, that's going to get them. We don't know. I don't really care. about the money. Right. You're
Starting point is 00:09:51 not alone. And a lot of people are going to look at the points and go, they don't, it's all over, the season's over. The points are what they are. They're not. A battle for 18th. Yeah. So, you know, and I saw where NASCAR made a comment,
Starting point is 00:10:08 Elton Sawyer said, we considered penalizing or parking the drivers. That may be something down the road. Dang, man, I hate that. Because it's kind of like your parent going next time it's your ass next time you're getting the belt
Starting point is 00:10:25 yeah all right sure we'll see maybe the belt's maybe now's the time to bring the belt out right that's even confusing like how much more egregious does it have to be to park the drivers if this wasn't enough I know I mean it is it's like
Starting point is 00:10:39 it's like you do that again you know it's just like that parent where they're always threatening the next time yeah you know the warnings Don't make me, and it's like, all right. So I wish that, and I would like, you know,
Starting point is 00:10:57 maybe they got a great reason why they didn't want to do it. Maybe they got a great reason why they didn't want to suspend the drivers. And to a lot of fans' points that commented on our show and our little clips yesterday, they weren't all in favor of that. They weren't. But I just feel like that that would be a way to go, all right, man. Hey, when Harvick was set out a race, he wrecked somebody at Martinsville had to sit out a race, you knew that he got that message, right?
Starting point is 00:11:26 And Harvick would probably tell you, yeah, that was hard to, I bet he was shot when he was told the news. You aren't racing tomorrow. I mean, he's like, what? And, I mean, because that's the thing, man. Drivers never, never, drivers would never assume that you were. going to be told, man, you're not running. You're out. Going to get another guy in there. And why is that a deterrent? So obviously, the driver's embarrassed. They're not, they're going to get mad initially, but then the next, it's going to fall into a bit of an embarrassed emotion, right?
Starting point is 00:12:04 They're going to be embarrassed, ashamed. Oh, my team down. I let my team down. I'm not going to be there for them. They're going to have someone else. They're going to be working with someone else. That's my team. And they've got to watch their car go to the racetrack and someone else drive it. Oh man, that's a very, very sucky experience. That's what happens to the driver. The team, the owner, the sponsor, they go through all of that as well because all next week on the broadcast throughout the weekend, practice qualifying and in the race. Broadcast is going to have to cover it.
Starting point is 00:12:42 Guess who's driving his car today? Hey, this is why. And that's not a great little bit of recognition for any of that group, right? So that is a great deterrent. I was explaining this to a friend of mine. He's like, why would that deter them, you know, parking them for a race? I'm like, well, there's a trickle-down effect, and it processes through the entire next weekend where it all has to be explained over and over again
Starting point is 00:13:04 of why this driver's not running today, and it's embarrassing for everyone involved, partners included. And so, and the manufacturer. Sure, it's being framed up like, well, it all came down from them. This message, right? All of this is a result of what the manufacturer expected from the team. Right? It's being framed that way. Right.
Starting point is 00:13:25 And so, it's a, I will say this, man. I was thinking about this this morning. Everybody in this sport, everyone in this sport has a responsibility to maintain a uphold the integrity of the sport. Some of us fell a little short this past weekend. All right. It happens. And it's not new. It's happened before. And it may happen again. Jeff Gluck thinks that this wasn't a big enough deterrent. He says, we'll see it again. If this happened at a different race, it wasn't the last one before the final. Or before teams were loading up earlier in the week. Do you think that that might incentivize them to park someone over
Starting point is 00:14:10 just kind of being like, all right, this time we're going to do this, but next time. My, my, my, I really only have one real thought about this. At this point, the fines are here. This is what we're going to go forward with. We're not, we can argue what should have happened or what we might have done. But when we look back, we mentioned on Tuesday's show some other scenarios where, you know, there was manipulation. This isn't a new thing. This isn't a new thing at Martinsville.
Starting point is 00:14:39 this has happened on the plate tracks for a handful of years. Teams organizing and working together and even practicing together. We literally would say, don't pull off pit road if a Ford or Toyota's in our line. And they would get in our line and go, man, I'm going to go out with the Chevy's. And we would sit there and not pull off pit road until they would get with their group. It was silly. And so we all, when I say we all, collect. us here in this room, podcasters, content creators, team owners, manufacturers,
Starting point is 00:15:16 NASCAR, race control, everyone involved has some responsibility to uphold the integrity of our sport. And some of us failed and it happens. It's okay. I think though going forward, we all have to really understand how delicate that credibility and legitimacy is to our fans, right? And they expect to tune in and see something fair and just and and and and ran accordingly. And so when it doesn't really go that way, it's frustrating and disappointing.
Starting point is 00:16:01 And we can't continue to do those things. We can't continue to utilize that type of stress. strategy or whatever you whatever you may have. So, I mean, it really needs to get back to, this should always be about dropping the green flag,
Starting point is 00:16:19 racing to the checkered flag in its purest form. And we won't always hit that mark. But that's why this all exists in the first place, right? And so when we try to give cute and try to take, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:34 try to take liberties with certain situations, it can bite us an ass a little bit, and I think that's just a lesson we were learning. I got kind of like two questions in one because we're going to the championship race, and in the past, you know, more recent examples, there's been some Penske cars, helping the other Penske car win the championship, right? Making it really hard on that next guy to pass him to the leader. Is he racing the shit of the guy? Right, exactly. So, you know, the season old question, you know, first with Austin Dillon. Well, that's the, that's a, this, is the line clear?
Starting point is 00:17:08 basically is what I'm asking. Yes. The line isn't clear for some people. That's the one thing that's tough for me is we had the thing with Austin Dillon, right, at Richmond, where he runs into the 22 and then the 11, the contact and all that, right? And NASCAR made a call and, and change, you know, change the outcome of events. So we go to Martinsville and Chris Deneckes pushes, Taylor Gray out of the way and wins the truck race and everybody is going well why is that okay they let you know they did this with Austin Dillon and but the two events are not the same
Starting point is 00:17:49 I I will stand here all day and tell anyone that I feel like I got a damn damn good hold on race etiquette and what's cool what ain't cool what's over the line where the lines are for the most part, I feel like I understand what a good block is and what a bad block is, what rough driving is, what being aggressive is, what using the chrome horn is, and what flat wrecking a guy is.
Starting point is 00:18:18 I can look at both of those situations and understand why one is okay and one isn't. It's not up for debate for me. It's very simple for me. I don't sit there. I don't look at those two situations and go, God, I'm kind of torn. No. It's one guy got the chrome horn. the other guy bowled and bulldozed through the front of the pack and wrecked it until he won the race, right?
Starting point is 00:18:41 And it was too much. Say, for example, this weekend in Phoenix, say Blaney's leading the race, right? And he's coming up to, and he lapsed Cendrick, his teammate. And now Cendrick is racing the shit out of second, who's William Byron, for example. I don't think that that's race manipulation Because they're just They're all going like hell Yes
Starting point is 00:19:10 Yeah Now if he throws a shi block That's the shit thing to do That's bad That's poor racecraft And they should call him out on that If he blocks the shit out of the guy And runs him in the wall
Starting point is 00:19:20 Doors him Yeah, that's bad That's not good But if he's just racing The shit out of the guy And makes it slows him down For a couple laps Because he can't get around him
Starting point is 00:19:28 That's okay You know What happened at Martinsville not okay, you know, blocking the track and not allowing other people by and having faster cars and sitting behind people intentionally. That kind of stuff flies in F1, but I don't think we want to allow that
Starting point is 00:19:45 to be part of what we have going on here. We can. NASCAR could have not penalized anybody and said, you know what, that's all fair and clear. Everybody can start doing that. And if that's what they want to do and that's what the sport,
Starting point is 00:19:59 we'll see that, that will, that will control the sport. It will explode. Yeah. You will, the teams will be, oh hell, didn't know we can do that.
Starting point is 00:20:09 Now it's on. Now I'm going to try to use that new tool in every situation possible. I'm glad it's being quelled and I know myself when I see something, I can tell when I see something that shouldn't happen
Starting point is 00:20:24 versus somebody just getting, you know, racing someone hard or making things difficult. And I still think for, you know, if you want to draft with your teammate or your four teammates at Talladega, that's fine. That is fine. Team up.
Starting point is 00:20:40 Hell yeah. I team up with guys that ain't even freaking teammates. You know, that's okay. But I don't love everything that happens at Dayton and Talladega in terms of how much the manufacturer role plays a role in each driver's decision. I don't love that. I loved it when they all were very selfish and racing for themselves. but, you know, that kind of thing is going to change and evolve.
Starting point is 00:21:06 And definitely what we had happened this past weekend is I don't want it. And I'm glad NASCAR is trying to find a way to deter it. I mean, you said the line was clear for you. I know what's right and I know what's wrong. And I know these drivers, they're not dumb. They're smart guys. So why is it that we keep running into these types of problems? Is it because they've got bosses and their boss have bosses?
Starting point is 00:21:31 and they're just... That's true. I mean, that's why fans were thinking penalizing the drivers was the wrong thing to do because the drivers were just doing what they're told. They're under so much pressure.
Starting point is 00:21:39 And if Ross Chastain drives around the 24, oh boy, it's going to be... He's going to have hell to pay when Rick Hendrick calls him up and goes, what are you doing, dummy?
Starting point is 00:21:51 Or, you know, when... I don't know that Rick would do that, but Jeff Gordon might walk up to him and go, dude, do you know, you're driving a Chevrolet? What costs us a shot at the... going for the, you know, those conversations will happen. And Ross felt pressured.
Starting point is 00:22:07 I don't know if Ross was told something on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. I don't know. Kind of knowing the plan going on. I don't know. But I feel certain that they were made aware at some point because the comments on the radio were just a reminder of, you know what's going on here. And so I hate it for the drivers, but in the end, I hate it for the drivers, but in the end, I hate it for the drivers, but in the end, we have to have, someone has to stand up and go,
Starting point is 00:22:36 we can't do this. This is not good for any of us. This is not good for our sport. This ain't good for us now or long term. Somebody in the room needs to stand up, not just NASCAR, you know, somebody else. Everybody's a stakeholder here. You and me, we're all invested in this. I think it was, you know, I'm glad to do what they did.
Starting point is 00:22:58 we'll see, you know, I don't think we'll have to worry about it this weekend. Have we ever seen anything similar to this in the championship race? I mean, I guess the example was Blaney, you know, when Lugano was going for the championship, two years ago in 22, and then Ligano the next year. And again, it was just racing hard. Hard. But luckily, there's no points involved this weekend, which I think makes it easier. I'm fine with that.
Starting point is 00:23:22 I'll give you an example where I got a little nervous. So we were racing for the championship. Ty Gibbs wins the title. But we were racing into that weekend. And I was telling our guys, I was like, hey, man, I want y'all to race him really hard, but do not wreck him. There was a lot of animosity, right, between Noah and Sam, Mayor. That was a tense time. Yeah, they weren't all great fans of each other.
Starting point is 00:23:50 And so, but I was like, hey, I said, I want y'all to win the title. I'm saying this as if Okay, Sam's coming down into turn three and Ties will then reach. I'm like, you know, you can move him out of the way. I don't want you backing him in the fence. I don't want, you know, don't win it the wrong way. But you can certainly be aggressive.
Starting point is 00:24:09 Late in the race, Noah's running second to Tye, I believe, and we're trying to track him down. Noah just can't quite get there. And Ty came up to lap Sam. Sam gave him room but raced him hard. and cost him a couple car links, maybe more. I'm not really sure, I can't remember.
Starting point is 00:24:27 But it was what I would have expected, what I would have hoped for, but it didn't cross a line for me, even though, yes, I'm a little biased in the moment because it's my cars. Those are the times where you're like, all right, yeah, man, you know, hold him up best you can,
Starting point is 00:24:43 but don't freaking hit you a break-checking and shit. You know, don't really, don't make it a big mess, ugly. The optics are important, and the fans need to know that, you know, the fans don't want shenanigans, and they want it to be pure and honest work, right? And so that's kind of what I think NASCAR is trying to keep going, keep in line. So now that we have all the pieces of the puzzle, right, there's a Chevy in the Final Four, we know what all the penalties are, the fines and points.
Starting point is 00:25:19 As a driver and an owner, was it worth it? Was it worth it for them to do this? Yes. You know, if you win the championship, you're not going to be worried about what you did to get there. I think that Martinsville and those particulars will be a distant memory. But again, I mean, for them, for an individual, for a driver, for a team, they're going to look at the full body of work and say,
Starting point is 00:25:46 we worked our guts out. It wasn't just what happened on that moment. we spent the whole year putting ourselves in this position. So if I were, William Byron and I win the championship, I wouldn't have a damn problem with it at all. I'd stand up there and give my speech and be prouder in hell. But, you know, again, like the long-term health of the sport,
Starting point is 00:26:10 we definitely need NASCAR to, you know, deter what some of the other drivers chose to do that night for the long-term credibility and legitimacy of the sport. And so, you know, they're just trying to keep things moving in the right direction. And I, but yeah, again, I mean, if any, whoever wins a title should feel very happy about that and not one bit worried about anybody's opinion about how they did it. How should RCR and Trackhouse feel?
Starting point is 00:26:42 Pissed, you know. But, I mean, it's been a difficult year for both of those organizations, more so for RCR. And that's why they obviously feel like they've got an argument to win the appeal and they've got a reason enough to believe that they didn't do anything wrong. And they probably know of many, many other scenarios that maybe we don't even know of where manipulation or a version of it happened even throughout this year. There could have been things going on that we don't even know about during these races. During the race weekend. You know, and so, you know, it'll be interesting what kind of argument they can put together to try to win the appeal, but I don't feel like it's going to be successful.
Starting point is 00:27:30 Well, we're going to move on. Like I said, later in the show, Carly interviews Kenny Wallace to talk about his show, Herm and Schrader. Their first episode is dropping Wednesday, November the 13th. After her interview, you're going to hear a trailer of that new show, so stick around for that. Also, we've got Ask Amy coming up. I'm going to get out of here before I do. I want to tell you guys, man, I saw a crash today. Have you ever been driving down the road and witnessed an auto accident?
Starting point is 00:27:55 Few. Too many times. Really? Dude, it didn't happen. It doesn't happen to me that often. I'm either the accident or I don't really see them. I'm just the accident. But I was at a red light and there's a car in front of me.
Starting point is 00:28:08 And I'm just sitting there, man. And green light comes and we're going to pull forward into an intersection and turn. And this guy just starts easing forward, man. He's going five miles an hour. and another car vehicle came through, came hauling, ran the red, ran the red. He swerved to try to miss a T-bone and caught the front end of this vehicle and destroyed it.
Starting point is 00:28:32 And they spun around. I jumped out, everybody was okay. I hung around in case anybody wanted, I didn't know, you know, when you're in that situation. Like a statement or a witness. Yeah, I was a witness to it. I saw everything. And very lucky that I wasn't the first car pulling
Starting point is 00:28:48 out of that light, because he would have run over me. But I, yeah, stuck around. And it was, they were, the guys, they were very disappointed in the fact that it happened, but everybody was on the up and up. It's got to be funny to, you know, be in a car wreck and then all of a sudden, like, you pop up. It's like, hey, you all right? It's like, am I, what's going on here? Yeah, critiquing their driving. Yeah, you shouldn't have done that. Thanks. Thanks for coming to stop and check on me. I'll be honest, man. Man, it was so, it was just heartbreaking because it's scary. Neither one of those individuals wanted to be in that situation and have that, you know,
Starting point is 00:29:28 it was going to be costly for both of them. And so that was just unfortunate to see as good. Nobody was hurt. But we're glad they're okay. You know, gosh, just bam. Wow, that just happened, you know. Couldn't believe it. All right, that's right.
Starting point is 00:29:44 I have the pleasure of being joined by Kenny Wallace on DJD Reloaded. And Kenny, I kind of said this off camera, but I mean, I guess welcome to the team. That's the first place to start, I think. Yeah, I'm honored. I really am. I met Dale Jr. when he was a kid there in Moorsville at the slot car track. And then he became a race car driver and all these years have gone by. And I received a phone call maybe two months ago, him and Mike Davis.
Starting point is 00:30:14 And here we are. So we've had one hell of a journey. Yeah, that's awesome. I got to talk to you about the name. Are we happy with the name? Because I know that a lot of fans were given suggestions. Did you have a suggestion to start? Or was it was it Herman Trader? Well, for me, it was always Kenny and Kenny. Yeah. But then Mike Davis said, well, it's not that easy. You know, everybody there at Dirty Moe, they're professionals. And I've been there. I've seen it myself.
Starting point is 00:30:45 But Herman Schrader sounds good to me. We'll get used to it. That's my nickname. And, of course, it's funny because nobody calls Kenny Schrader, Kenny. Right. It's always, hey, Schrader. So it works. Do we want to give a story behind your nickname, Herm?
Starting point is 00:31:04 Yeah, I think so. Knowledge is power. Yes. So when I was a kid, my dad won a lot of races. Kind of like Dale Jr.'s grandpa, you know Ralph, right? So my dad, Russ, won a lot, and they did not like us. So I was always fighting, you know, at 10, 12 years old, in the grandstands. People did not like my dad.
Starting point is 00:31:34 And there was a German man named Bob Miller. And he nicknamed me Herman the German. Because he was a big German man. And so it stuck. It went to Herman. And then I went down to North Carolina, and it was Dale Senior that nicknamed me the Hermanator. And so it's three nicknames and one. Herman the German is the original because Herman the German is a real medieval warrior from the 1880s, 1,600s.
Starting point is 00:32:07 His wife is Amazelda. We got the, here, hold on. Oh, we got a prop. This is going to be worth it. There really is a Herman the German. And just Googling, there he is. We got the bobblehead, Herman the German. Love it.
Starting point is 00:32:27 Yeah. Yeah. So, you know, people from Germany, they know who Herman the German is. And I'm a very mischievous, I'm very rebellious. I was always in trouble in school. So I'm Herman. I'm the Hermanator, whatever you want to call me. But that is how it started.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Yeah, I'm glad to know that. I'm glad I asked you that. And obviously, you've already had the Kenny Wallace show, which has been really kind of taken off on Twitter. I feel like I see your stuff all of the time, as I'm sure other fans do. That's been really fun. How did that kind of start? Because, I mean, that is initially probably, you know, why Dirty Mo is bringing you in as well, just the kind of content that you've been able to put out so far.
Starting point is 00:33:09 I will take a line from Eric Shanks and Ed Gorn, everybody, all the executives from Fox. sports. When they called me, you know, 18 years ago, they said, Kenny Wallace, we would like you to come to work for network TV. And I had a wonderful 14-year run and quit because I got tired of being on the road. But they said to me, they said, do you know why we want you to be on network TV? And I said, no. Quite simple, they said, because you have a lot to say. So social media was made for me. because I'm very rebellious. I seek attention. I want people to hear me, damn it.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Yeah. So social media was made for me, and I had a lot to say, and I'm very opinionated. I like people to hear me. And, you know, they put me on Ritalin for this years ago. And they sent me to therapists, and I'm just all messed up. I'm very off-centered. I'm super smart, though. so I like to be heard and that's the way the Kenny Wallace show started and then Charlie Marlowe called me
Starting point is 00:34:23 and he said I want to start you a YouTube show and I said no no no I'm busy running my dirt car I'm a chameleon I do a lot of everything so had no idea you know there it is right there the silver button 115,000 subscribers later, Jagg sponsors it, and it became successful. And I think that's when Dale Jr. and Mike Davis said, hold on. So because of the success of the Kenny Wallace show, here we are. Yeah, that's awesome. And then, of course, you know, the Herman and Trader show is what that's going to be named.
Starting point is 00:35:05 Is there anything like, I mean, is it going to be the Kenny Wallace show kind of rebranded? Is it, you know, what's the carry over there? and I mean, obviously they're going to get the same Kenny Wallace on this, though. Oh, yeah. We are excited that we came together on collaborating. So, you know, Mike Davis, Dale Jr., and I'm going to tell you what, you know, Dale Jr's brilliant. This was his idea, too.
Starting point is 00:35:32 He called me, and he said, damn it, Mike, I told you you should have got Kenny Wallace two years ago. And so they start wrestling back and forth. And about a month later, Mike calls me and he says, okay, I think we got it figured out. Let's collaborate. And I said, okay, what's that look like? So they said, okay, we specialize in podcasts. Let's keep everything the same. I said, okay.
Starting point is 00:35:56 So for everybody listening right now, what we're going to do is those Kenny conversations I do with the world's greatest race car drivers. Dale Jr. is number one over a quarter of a million views. So you're going to be able to hear Kenny conversation. on Dirty Moe Podcasts. So that's one way we're going to collaborate. So all my Kenny conversations will now go over to the Dirty Mo podcast. And then the second thing is that it was their ideal.
Starting point is 00:36:27 It was Mike Davis-Dill Jr. It was their idea to say, hey, can you get Schrader and you guys do a show and we'll extend Dirty Mo out there to the Midwest? And I said, I like this. I said, we can say, from mid-America in St. Louis Preserri on Dirty Mo. That's right.
Starting point is 00:36:47 It's a Herman Schrader show. So it was a way for all of us to start going throughout America. And I'm happy to represent. But you're still going to see this all on the Kenny Wallace show on YouTube. And we're collaborating. So it will be on Dirty Moe podcast, as equally as it will be on the Kenny Wallace show on YouTube. So if you want to see us, go to the Kenny Wallace show on YouTube. If you want to hear us, go to Dirty Moe podcast.
Starting point is 00:37:18 And that was all their idea. And me and Charlie, my YouTube manager, we said, man, that's a good deal. And it's a way we can all be the same, stick to what we do, but collaborate. I was just going to say, we think we see you all the time now. We really are going to see you all the time on a social media platform. So that's great and sounds like a great collaboration. I know that fans are looking forward to this. What's been the fan feedback for you?
Starting point is 00:37:46 There's been lots of comments. I've seen some of them. But what are the ones that maybe have kind of stood out to you? Yeah. Kenny Schrader, Kenny Schrader and Kenny Schrader. Kenny Schrader, Mark Martin, those two drivers come to mind. They are so well respected. People really respect Mark Martin.
Starting point is 00:38:07 When you go on social media, you have Rodney Children. and you have all these race car drivers nowadays, they're always, you know, Mark Martin, Mark Martin. And I'm grateful that Mark Martin's my dear friend. And you just called me last night. But equally, it's Kenny Schrader. People love Kenny Schrader. They respect him more today than if he was racing in NASCAR.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Because Schrader and myself, we both race right now and we win. And those NASCAR cup drivers, you know, they like it. we race and they want to race with us right now. And so it's all about Kenny Schrader. But I was brought into the fold because Strader pretends he's shy, but he's not shy. And so I'm kind of like, I'm the guy that opens the show and I ask Schrader what he thinks. And so Herman Schrader, and I know everybody's going to be turning in, tuning in, to listen to what Kenny Schrader has saying we've already seen that. So we want to share our happiness.
Starting point is 00:39:14 And then we go win big races on the weekend right now. And so that's what the show's going to be. It's going to be fun. It's not going to be funny. It's going to be happy. And we're going to break down things in way different ways than other people. We got enough racing shows. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:39:34 And I think that's what makes it so great. Just kind of your part of history for, racing in general and for race fans to be familiar with you, but you're also going to have a certain audience that maybe isn't familiar with you or your personalities or Schrader's personalities as well. What's a story that you two have together that maybe best summarizes your personalities and what fans can expect? Oh, this one's, this one's, it's quick, it's witty, so you've got to listen close. Brater looked at me one day and he goes, Herman, you're so messed up that you make me feel good about myself.
Starting point is 00:40:16 I said good. As long as I'm messed up and you're perfect and we can get along, that's what makes me happy. So, you know, there was a show years ago, the odd couple. And so, you know, Schrader is perfect. I'm crazy. He's always telling me what to do. Just right with my brother Rusty.
Starting point is 00:40:38 I'm like, guys, I've made it this. far. But it makes me laugh because people say, how do you get along with Kenny Schrader and your brother Rusty? I'm like, oh, that's simple. They're my heroes. I always let them stand an inch taller than me. So you're going to see on the show, Schrader always poking fun at me. And then I'll give it back. I'll give it back. But more so, it's just like the odd couple. I think that's the perfect summary and definitely a hook for those fans that maybe aren't familiar with your shows to tune in. Kenny, before we let you go, is there anything else that you're maybe most excited for about this, this new collaboration? Yeah, I'm excited that we're going to reach that crowd that is 40 to 80 years old right now.
Starting point is 00:41:27 And, you know, for everybody upset saying they've been left behind, here's the show for you. you know uh i'm 61 schrader 69 this we're we are going to control that age group we'll let we let the dale junior download and everybody take care of the young group i have a feeling like i'm going to be like tony bennett me and schrader going to be like tony bennett uh all the young kids going to be coming over here because we're cool and uh i think that's what's going to happen we're going to cover so many age groups and you're going to see these 70 year old people just tuning in because we know what happened and we know what's up. That's awesome. We really appreciate you joining us and man, we are definitely, I'm going to be listening. I know everybody
Starting point is 00:42:16 else says too and looking forward to all that you and Schrader put out. One last thing. I never, I never knew you. I know. But you're really good at what you do. I'm like, who is this lady? And you're really good at what you do. You showed up and boy, that's the the way to do it. And congratulations on you showing up so big time. And one day I'll be able to meet you in real. I know. This is our first true interaction together, even though I feel like I know you through social media. So I really appreciate the kind words. And yeah, look forward to that in-person meeting soon. Thank you. I'm looking at Kenny Schrader right now. I'm amazed that I'm here. Following is a production of Dirty Bow Media.
Starting point is 00:43:05 Shreder could go over to the Vatican, and the Pope would go. Hey, Schroeder! I only screamed at TV one time yesterday. When Larson shot the gap. Oh, my gosh. No, no, no, no! You and I are of age, and we found this dirt. Okay.
Starting point is 00:43:22 You keep saying of age. You do this all the time. This is what he does to me all the time. I just correct you when you're wrong. You correct me when I'm wrong. You're shooting at three wide, Russ. He's got his white glove. No, Shrader. No.
Starting point is 00:43:37 I should have paid a lot more attention. Hey, this is Ken Schroeder. And Kenny Wallace, inviting you to listen to our podcast, Herman Schrader, every week on Dirtymo Media and Sirius X-F. All right, everybody, we're live here at the Dirty MoMo Media studio for the Dale Jr. Download. This is the Ask Amy part of the show. Amy's here today. How you doing? Hi.
Starting point is 00:44:04 I'm good. We've had a lot of fun. We had Ryan Blaney on earlier talking about his win at Finney. and for the guest segment tomorrow, we'll have all four Xfinity drivers for the Xfinity series, the final four going for the championship this weekend in Phoenix. Those guys are going to be on our Wednesday allied guest segment. And we got some questions for Amy, and let's get started. We do.
Starting point is 00:44:27 I'm pulling up the questions now. Wait, first off, we got to say thank you. I mentioned the Xfinity drivers coming on tomorrow. You did. We got to thank Xfinity Mobile. Our Xfinity Mobile's customers get exclusive. access of Wi-Fi speeds up to a gig in millions of hot spots across the nation. And with its nationwide coverage, you know that it will always come through in a clutch situation.
Starting point is 00:44:49 Take NASCAR on the go with Xfinity Mobile, so now we can go. Someone said thank you, Amy, for being on, because every time you're on, we always start this on time. I keep you guys on schedule. Yes, you do. But this first question is coming from Madeline. I've seen a lot of questions about this on Twitter, Facebook, but they need to know how was the Taylor Swift concert? Taylor Swift was amazing.
Starting point is 00:45:13 I can say that I'm not like a true Swiftie. Self-reclaimed Swifty. I have kind of like, I like some of her music and I'll listen to it, but I'm not like a diehard. And I mean that respectfully,
Starting point is 00:45:24 but our daughter is. And so we stumbled across some tickets and it was one of the best concerts, truly the best productions I've ever seen. So it was amazing. Ila had a great time for about half the show. and then she literally just turned off. She went to sleep.
Starting point is 00:45:43 Yeah, Johnny, power down. And she laid my lap for the last, like, hour and a half of the show. It's a long show. It's like three hours, right? It was, yeah, she goes right at 8, and it was over 1130. So 3.5 hours, it's pretty long. Yeah, that's crazy. But she didn't make it.
Starting point is 00:45:56 She fell asleep and was able to nap with all that noise. She's kind of like her dad. She could fall asleep in a crowded room. Wow. And did you do, because when you were telling me about this few weekends ago, you said you weren't going to tell her until she was on her way there. Yes. So my friend and I, we both took our daughters their same age.
Starting point is 00:46:15 We hem-haught about when to do that because you can't really tell a child too early what they're going to get to do. Or they don't go to sleep, but they ask you every five minutes when you're going. And so we waited until we got on the airplane to tell them we had everything decorated. There was, you know, Taylor Swift stuff everywhere and disco balls and whatever. So they were excited, but I don't think they really got it. We got in the plane, and I like goes, a plane bar. party. How fun. I was like, well, next time, that's what we'll do.
Starting point is 00:46:40 We'll just have a party in the airplane. We won't go anywhere. Because that would have sufficed. But now is she going to see that? If you do another one, be like, oh, we're going to Taylor Swift again. I don't know. Maybe. I don't know. I feel like we're going to set that out for a little bit. I don't know how we'll top Taylor Swift. Dale, you didn't go. I went hunting. He was invited. He was invited. He went the complete opposite way. He decided to go sit in a tree somewhere.
Starting point is 00:47:02 So nice. Did you get anything? No, no. I saw a nice book. the first night and I had a decoy out in the field and he got he was coming down we into the decoy to see if that thing was real and when he realized it wasn't he got out of there so I didn't really get a chance but and I was questioning whether I should whether it was a deer I wanted but the next two nights I didn't see anything uh that big but I had a blast man sitting in the sitting in the sitting in a deer stand in the middle of the United States and watching the world, right? Watching the real world move is, I don't know, man. It's hard. You,
Starting point is 00:47:43 you can't understand how fun and enjoyable that is to you actually get in there and try it. And so. Very peaceful. It is so, so nice. And I mean, I think about everything. Now, it's peaceful, but I'm in my mind, I'm thinking about. That's just a problem. That's just a Dale Jr. But I'll be honest with you. I don't want, I'm not trying to get mushy here, but I think about my dad a lot, honestly, a lot when I'm deer hunting because he loved hunting. And I used to want to go hunting with him all the time, even though, so when I was little and I'd go hunt with dad, he had chain up deer stands. And basically a chain up deer stand is a little platform big enough for your feet,
Starting point is 00:48:25 a chair, a little cushion, and that's it. It's chained to the side of a tree. You lean up against the back of the tree. You're 25 feet in air. and he would put me on that platform. And I'd lay down on that platform in like five, six years old. And he'd just be hunting, and I'd just be sitting there.
Starting point is 00:48:45 Untethered? Yeah. No safety, none of that, right? Yeah, crazy. And it was miserable. I hated it, but I wanted some badly to be with him where he was. And so when he would leave, go hunting without me,
Starting point is 00:49:00 I'm like, oh, I want to go, I want to go hunting. And then when I got older, I wanted to like hunting, and I just couldn't. I just couldn't get to where I loved it and wanted to go do it. But I kept pushing myself, pushing myself, because it was something my dad loved, and I wanted to love it, too. But I finally got there over the last probably six or seven years. We got some me and Truex and my brother-in-law, LW, got some land, and we've been trying to shape that land and get it going,
Starting point is 00:49:28 so we can kind of create a great place to hunt. And it doesn't matter. I don't, it's not, I don't care if I get one or not. I really don't. I mean, I want to, but it's not, it doesn't make, it's not like, some hunters are like, you know, really disappointed if it doesn't work out, right? And I'm going to go once a year for about three days because of how busy my schedule is. And it doesn't matter if I get one or not.
Starting point is 00:49:53 I think I've gotten three deer off that land in seven years. and it's just fun sitting there and just thinking about life, thinking about the choices you've made, watching nature, watching animals do what they do. They have no clue you're there. And watch this deer, I watch a dough and a squirrel share a waterhole. Wow. Like a Disney movie.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Yeah. Well, you're basically snow white. They're looking at each other. They're looking at each other like, I'm cool with this if you are. Yeah. Good? I'm good. I'm not going to bother you.
Starting point is 00:50:28 I ain't going to bother you. And that's kind of what's going on. And then there were about six those that came right under my stand. They're literally 20 feet away from me just chomping on acorns. I'm like, how in the hell your teeth not busted? And then this buck comes in, and he's not, he's about a nine-pointer and pretty small buck size-wise. And he is grunting like crazy because they're in rut, right?
Starting point is 00:50:53 So they're chasing trying to find dough that are ready to go. and he is grunting and busting through the woods chasing these those doze are like you know little gazelles hopping around in the woods and trying to get away from this buck and he's just like plowing through and just all kinds of racket
Starting point is 00:51:10 and grunt like he's got no game whatsoever he's grunt like crazy grunt grunt grunt and it's wild to watch you're like and this is what's going on in the woods every day this is their life right that's awesome yeah it's crazy it's fun I've tried to get Amy to
Starting point is 00:51:26 I want Amy to go one night. I can't be quiet for that long. I mean, I could physically be quiet with my mouth, but I feel like I can't sit still that long. Well, the tree that I was in, I had four bars of LTE. So I watched the Washington game. I watched them beat the giant. You could just do this in the bathroom. Wait.
Starting point is 00:51:48 They're on a nature document. I'm sorry. There's not any deer in the bathroom. You can't watch the squirrel in the bathroom. That's true. You find the wrong bathroom. I got in the tree early at 1.30. It's probably an hour too soon.
Starting point is 00:52:03 But we had the change in time, so it was getting dark sooner. But I watched the end of the Washington game, watched some of the race, and then I finally put my phone away when it got around 4 o'clock because it was going to start seeing movement. But it was fun. Sorry, I hijacked. So Taylor Swift sounded like it was a good time. Taylor Swift is great.
Starting point is 00:52:20 I want Amy to go once. Please, just one time. You need to go to Taylor Swift and she'll go hunting. then, Andrew, because he was supposed to go. I had two extra tickets because he backed out and then the other dad backed out. It worked out, dude. It did work out, but. Because you took, we go and do a lot of things that are not in our typical wheelhouse,
Starting point is 00:52:42 and so he needs to go to Taylor Swift also. Did you get any friendship bracelets or anything? We came back with friendship bracelets from here to here. That was, so Ila doesn't like to share. And you lost your circulation. No, I love war him. She wouldn't let me have any. I had made one for myself before we went.
Starting point is 00:52:59 We made some for our little friends. But no, she got into the switching. I was worried that she wasn't going to want to trade because she doesn't really like to do that. She wants to take them, but she's not really giving you one. But she very much got into that. So she came home with just sleeves of bracelets. Yeah. My wife, Kaylee, went in Nashville, and they got, they had friendship bracelets.
Starting point is 00:53:16 They did. They got confetti off the ground and, like, put it in a thing. And then they got, they went on Etsy and got the tickets, like, actually printed because they were only on our phone. So, like, there's a ton of that. I mean, there's like a whole like a shadow box. Yeah, the whole thing. Yeah, everything. So it's like a whole experience, not just the concert.
Starting point is 00:53:32 It's cool. This next question coming from Doug. If Amy and Dale went on a date night bowling, who would win? I saw this online, yeah. I don't know. Dale's pretty good at most games. I'm not terrible. We went bowling with the kids at Big Cedar and I did pretty good.
Starting point is 00:53:49 I don't know. It's about speed and power. Speed and power, he's got that going on. I think it would be. Aim. Probably me. I think it would be even. Wow.
Starting point is 00:54:00 Yeah. I like to bowl, but I'm not great at bowling. Me too. I'll be honest. I think I'm in the same boat. I think I like it more than I am talented at it. So that's the thing is like you can psych yourself out when you get there. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:54:13 You walk into the bowling alley, you're like, oh, I'm going to crush this. And then you remember how bad you are at bowling. That's at least my experience. It always hurts my hand. My fingers hurt after. Now, if we're doing, if we're doing, if we're doing, doing like the video game bowling. Oh man.
Starting point is 00:54:28 Yeah, we bowling. Yeah, we have that. Not we bowling. Like the Golden T-style ball. Oh, yeah, yeah. Tabletop. That's not fair, though, because he's had that game in his house for 20 years. I said, well-vers.
Starting point is 00:54:38 During COVID, I went downstairs and I bowled a, I bowled on that game until I bowled a near-perfect game. And I got the high score. It took me forever. Really? He didn't go down there and start the game up on her own. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:50 And how good is she ate that game? Pretty good. Yeah. Wow. All right. This next question is coming from Ethan. He needs some help. He needs some advice.
Starting point is 00:55:00 Oh. Ethan, we are here for you. What is a necessity to bring for an engagement party because his fiancee's freaking out? An engagement party? Yeah. Like what do you bring to? As a gift? Yeah, I guess.
Starting point is 00:55:13 Oh. Bottle of champagne's always nice. Something nice they could keep for their wedding. Or, I don't know. I don't feel like, did we get presents? Do we do presents? I don't remember. I don't think that's necessary.
Starting point is 00:55:26 I don't either. Just yourself, your happy self. I like the bottle of champagne. Bring the energy. Bring a bottle of champagne. That's good enough. Okay. Good to know.
Starting point is 00:55:35 Don't break up. It's all going to be okay. Yes. Matt Winters wants to know. This is also on Twitter. We had Blaney call in on the Dirty Air Show. They need to know, do you guys have a favorite Blaney story from when he was your neighbor or any other time? I guess favorite Blaney story.
Starting point is 00:55:52 Yeah, favorite Blaney story. So he used to come over. all the time. He dried his little four-wheeler or whatever through the woods. But when he won, what race was it? They won that we won. Pocono. We won Pocono. He won Pocono. And we were at home. And so we packed up the coolers and had cold beer on the back porch by the time he got home. And we stayed up to like four in the morning. I think that's probably the best one. Yeah, mine too. Yeah, he was like, it was fun for us to be, be an assist on that night because he came back to his house. We had. We were so close. and his family wasn't. We had two or three big fish coolers, like big, gigantic coolers, full of beer.
Starting point is 00:56:30 And his whole crew team, everybody came. And they were like, great. Awesome. It was like an obligatory. It felt like a mom and pop. Yeah, it felt like the parent. All right, don't be too loud. We're going to go inside.
Starting point is 00:56:43 Yeah, all right. That's cool. By the way, people in the YouTube chat, Amy, they love the shirt that you're wearing. Thank you. You can buy that online. Shop junior nation. Or in the gift shop. We're in the gift shop.
Starting point is 00:56:55 That's right. Or it's at the racetrack now, too. I saw there was a long line to buy Bud 8 merch. I did put the link in my story this morning. Oh, good. All right. So speaking of the car store, I had a couple comments. I wanted to maybe drop here live.
Starting point is 00:57:08 So the car store schedule is out for next year. We're dialing it back from 17 to maybe 15 races to give our teams a little relief. We had a lot of rainouts, which ended up stacking a bunch of races together. April 12th, we're trying to get a deal done with Cordell for that weekend. in, which I would race if we do. And I plan on, I have about four events that I'm going to compete in in the late milestone car each year. And I think I want to run all of those exclusively in the Cars Tour next year.
Starting point is 00:57:37 So if you want to be able to watch that, if you can't be at any of the races, go on social media, go to the Cars Tour, Twitter handle, copy and save the photo of that schedule. And if you can make it to a race, come out and see us, come get some autographs. or what have you. If not, get your flow subscription, and you can see all of them on Flow. I think Flow is getting the Snowball Derby this year, but Flow, there's no paywall behind Flow.
Starting point is 00:58:05 So if you get Flow and get a subscription, you can watch eye races, you can watch any motorsports, you can watch any other sports, boxing high school football, everything is available, just one subscription. Pretty cool.
Starting point is 00:58:18 It's a good time. It was at North Wilkesboro for your finale, and it was quite a show. Well, I'm looking for, to that man. Glad to get that schedule out. Yes. We got time for one more. A more question. By the way, I saw someone in the YouTube chat said the way I say
Starting point is 00:58:31 all right just gets under their skin. So I'm going to milk that word a few more times. The way you say all right. All right. All right. That's how you say it. All right. You got a problem with that? I never was bothered by that but probably going forward. Oh man. It'll be getting under my skin as well.
Starting point is 00:58:48 All right. This next question is from Natalie, and we need an update. Did you pass your eye contact test? We have not talked about this. I did forget about this. He is an epic fail. He's wearing glasses.
Starting point is 00:59:06 All right. Screwed it up. He doesn't even want to try. He doesn't. I'm not shut the door on it entirely, but... They're still on the bag and the foyer on the desk. So here's the thing. Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:59:17 It's an eyesore. We talked about it. We talked about this on the show. The girls at the doctor, I'll listen. Oh, that's hilarious. Oh, yeah. Oh. And so when I went in there to get my tests for my fitting, she's like, I heard all the things.
Starting point is 00:59:34 And so we sat down and working with her, I was able to get them in and get them out. It was not easy. But it was, she sent me out the door with the stuff. What I will say is this, and I'm confused. I need some help. All right. when I was, they told me, they said, you're not going to love your contacts as much as your glasses. That was, that was where we went wrong.
Starting point is 01:00:04 We don't tell Dale, you're not going to love it before he even starts doing it. I really want some help. And so I, looking at my, looking through my glasses, I can see as clear as a bell. When I put the contacts in, I was going to be fine accepting a bit of a different experience. That was going to be okay. Okay? I just, and when I looked at the, when I looked at my phone, I was happy that I could see and read it, right? That was going to be enough.
Starting point is 01:00:37 But when I was looking at the wall and doing all of the other tests, everything seemed pretty decent. I got up to leave and I walked outside and I could not see 150 yards away from a like 100 yards and further out was really blurry. And I thought, well, that's not good at all. That's not, that's awful. But maybe this is just something, maybe my eyes irritated, trying to get these things in and out, in and out during the fitting. I was really, my eyes were really upset and angry.
Starting point is 01:01:11 Angry. Well, all the skin was just in pain because I'm angry. You're prying your eye open. Look at Amy's face. I work contacts for like a long time. And so I started to run glasses when I was seven. And so I was like taking aback. And me and Amy went to early voting and we got done with that.
Starting point is 01:01:35 And it happens to be right next to that office. And I said, I'm going to go back in there. This isn't good enough. And I walked back in there and I said, guys. He had me pull the contacts out, by the way, when we were in the parking lot after voting. Yeah. Like we're standing in. He couldn't pluck him out.
Starting point is 01:01:54 So I just plucked them right out of his eyes. That would freak me out more, I think. Anyone else is, I don't like my finger of my eye, but I don't want to be. So I'm not actually touching his eye. Oh, you're just doing that. Right. Like so. She grabbed it.
Starting point is 01:02:03 She could take them right in and out. We did this at the house too. That was better. That was better. So I go into the office and I'm like, guys, I can't see far away. Like, I can't see good at all. It's really blurry. And so we sat down and we tried all these different combinations.
Starting point is 01:02:21 and then I went home with that and I tried to wear them and it's just... So he's got a stigmatism in his right eye. The left eye is just a basic near-sidedness so you can't see far away and breeding issues. I can see, honestly...
Starting point is 01:02:36 I've got a whole bunch of stuff going on. I could see better without the contacts at faraway distance than, I mean, just nothing. So they just got your prescription wrong, right? That's all it is. And so... But going back to the...
Starting point is 01:02:54 We came home. He's got the new sets. We're trying to get them in his eyes. We go into the sun porch where you can see really well. We have a little mirror. I'm sitting on the counter. Everything's set up. Behind. He's going to do the contacts.
Starting point is 01:03:08 He wants my attention just in case he needs help. As soon as he gets the contact within like an inch, he closes his eye every fucking time. Like it's like a habit thing. So stop closing. your eye and he's got his eyelashes his eyelashes and he's like I know it's never going to work no so I had to get it in there we should bring some contacts into the studio finally Amy tried finally Amy puts them in and I Amy takes them out and um which look he potted for like he wore him for like two or three hours maybe they told me are they uncomfortable no they told me the first day they're like wearing four
Starting point is 01:03:43 hours then add an hour each day after that I am I will figure out how to get them in and out over time I'm confident that I can do that. But when I'm wearing them, I don't see as well as wearing nothing at all. So it sounds like it's a prescription thing then. That part I'm going to give it. How did that not? How did that happen? I don't know.
Starting point is 01:04:04 They're not asking me. I'm sure something just got. The optometries. Here's the thing about getting your eyes checked. You have to be able to tell them exactly what you can and can't see. I was. I was. We were in the room and I'm like, it's a little fuzzy.
Starting point is 01:04:15 It's a little changing this. I'm like, yeah, it's not great. Someone in the group chat said track bar, are you helping? Eventually they're like, we're going to get this guy out of here. He's going to be here all day. Did I say group chat? YouTube chat. Basically our group chat.
Starting point is 01:04:33 Look, if I could put them in and go, yeah, this is good. I can see. I can see far. I can see reasonably up close. It's not going to be perfect. I appreciate him going to the doctor to try. The kids even appreciated seeing his face. He didn't have his glasses on.
Starting point is 01:04:48 Both of the girls were like, look at your face. So it's not done. It's not over. I'm going to go back. They won the battle, but you're going to win the one. I'm going to go back and see if I can. That's the mentality we need to have.
Starting point is 01:05:01 I'm going to go back and see if we can figure out how to get the actual view, you know, the seeing part of it better. Seeing part of the context. Yeah, cool. I don't know. If I can get that better. I have an asset. If I can get the eyes dialed in.
Starting point is 01:05:15 If I can get a see, good. Then I might want to try to put them in. but there we are. That's where I'm at. Wow. And do you like seeing his face? Yes. Because the glasses kind of hide his eyebrows and all of his emotions.
Starting point is 01:05:30 That's the best part. It's not exactly the same, but it's almost like him wearing that Halloween mask. Oh, yeah. Can we talk about that really quickly too? I saw a lot of questions about that. The family photo of you guys was hilarious. Like everyone's in character and then just. And then there's Dale the old man.
Starting point is 01:05:50 I had people ask me, who's that old man? Like, that's Dale in the damn mask he bought. Who's that old man? Yeah. You sent a picture. He was Amy and the old man mask. And I'm like, who is that with Amy? Should I know who that is?
Starting point is 01:06:04 And it was the old man. It took me a second. It was good. So realistic. It doesn't move as well as you would anticipate. Because it's not like glued to his face. It's not like professional makeup. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 01:06:15 So he's not really talking a whole lot. But he did. We went over to T.J. and Tamila's house about 4.30, the kids are going to eat, and then we're going to get dressed there because you can't really do that and get in the car. Instead of doing any of the food, he goes out and parades himself up and down the street.
Starting point is 01:06:31 Shaking his fist at cars going on. Like his old man walked, just by himself, parading around the neighborhood, which he does not live in, like a creepo. I didn't live there. Just complaining about other people's yards. Clean that up. He was doing it.
Starting point is 01:06:48 All of those things. Kicking trash cans, you know. He didn't get ridgible. He was saying all kinds of ridiculous things. I was like, Who puts their leaves out in the street? Let's put this pile of these here. Hey, you put that pile of laser here?
Starting point is 01:07:02 This isn't what we need. The final straw for me was almost the end of trick-or-treating. We had the kids with us and he sticks his tongue out through the mouth and, like, wiggles his tongue. That's it. I'm fucking over. I remember what all this used to be far. Yeah. All right, grandpa.
Starting point is 01:07:18 your medicine. All of the neighbors are out with their kids having their great Halloween experience, and I'm going to stand in the middle of the street to shop. I remember when they used to be in Fireland. He's just practicing for later. Can't take him anywhere. Wow. I saw a bunch of other old man costumes on a route.
Starting point is 01:07:37 Yeah, they were wearing number eight gear, bud jacket. That's funny. Every time I go into an antique shop, there's butt eight stuff. Oh, yeah. I always take a picture. We've got to keep him humble. Straske. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:07:54 It's in a museum somewhere. Archival. I was going to bring y'all all the candy that I have picked up, but not no more. Only if you wear the mask, are you allowed to bring the candy. Stop. You're allowed to bring the candy, but only if you wear your mask. Here? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:10 Old man delivery. I like wearing the mask. Next show. Yeah. Yeah, just the regular season. Maybe you could interview the four drivers tomorrow in the mask. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:20 That would have been funny. Do we want to admit what our little daughter did unsupervised? Oh. Now it sounds like you kind of do. Is this our daughter or is it your daughter? What happened? I said our daughter, didn't I? You did?
Starting point is 01:08:30 It ain't ours. But depending on what happened, maybe she's just yours. What happened? She might have not abided by the take only one piece rule. Oh. Yeah, Ila. So Ila. O'I was very disappointed.
Starting point is 01:08:43 I was very disappointed. I was T.J.'s daughter. And then Scarlett Kuzelowski, who's a sweet, sweet angel of a child. Were the Kislovsky's with you, or was just Scarlet? They were. They were, yeah. And Scarlet was dressed up with all the other girls as the descendants' characters. Those three ran off kind of doing their own thing.
Starting point is 01:08:59 It's a safe small, one street neighborhood. And we can see them. But Scarley gets one piece of candy at each door. The other two heathens come back. And those, their buckets were overflowing. Candy falling out because they've just, as they walk, they're slinging it everywhere. I'm like, how did that have been? and Scarlet has like two inches of candy in her bucket
Starting point is 01:09:17 and you guys clearly didn't do the same thing. Scarlett was like, I just took one, I promise. That was a tough one. And I was like, well, I was looking at me like, yeah, I did that. I'm like, she wasn't upset with herself.
Starting point is 01:09:31 She was not scared about being in trouble. No. Like those are some problems. Yeah, we got to address that situation. She didn't get that for me. I was about to ask, like, who's that? I bet she did that because she knew he was going to eat half of it.
Starting point is 01:09:46 She did keep saying all day, Dad can't. Dad's going to eat my candy. Dad's going to eat my candy. So he did that. From first Halloween, we took her trick-or-treating. And as the candy was going in the bucket,
Starting point is 01:09:57 he was eating it. And so she started to refuse to even put it in the bucket. Dale's a problem. And she does know that all the candy that she's getting on trick-or-treating night. Halloween, that's the name. Yeah. While she's trick-or-treating, she knows that the candy she's getting.
Starting point is 01:10:15 She better eat in that moment because as soon as... Once it gets to the house, we're probably going to throw it. As soon as it gets to the house, it disappears, and she doesn't know where it goes. Because we do make it go away. What's the smart? I bring it here. Y'all get it. Y'all make it go away.
Starting point is 01:10:30 That's right. Yeah. Fended ask Amy. Thank you, Amy, for being here. I'm sure all folks were happy that you were here today and enjoyed your insight. I'm just glad that you and Andrew finally started talking again. That was really bothersome at first. Yeah.
