Hey everybody, I'm Dillon Hart Jr.
And this is The Dirty 30.
The best highlights from all of our podcast this week, 30 minutes every single Friday.
The Dirty 30 coming in short.
Let's get right to it.
This episode of The Dirty 30 is presented by Arby's new Meat in Three Box.
Get more meal for your money at Arby's.
We have the meats.
Oh, man.
Oh, man.
All right.
One of my favorite songs, there's a song called Dale Earnhardt.
Uh, hot skillet, liquors, I think is the name of the band.
Hot skillet liquors.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It is, dude.
So let me tell y'all, I couldn't help it.
There's, there, every year, somebody sends me a Deller and Heart song, man, I, my buddy wrote a
a Deller and Heart song, or this guy's making a Deller and Heart song, or, you know, every year
there's a Deller and Heart song, and I'll be honest, man.
and all of them are that great.
It's hard to write about him,
and they're all mostly sad,
or, oh, man, you know,
Dale Earnhardt.
So,
this song is not sad.
This song is talking about how bad ass he is,
and it's just funny.
I think it's a funny song.
And so I was kind of thinking
that this might be the last time
that I get to curate the music for this game,
and I take a ton of shit for it,
because a lot of people do not like it.
and you're not going to make everybody happy.
But in this case,
like when you make a soundtrack for a video game,
you make a lot of people unhappy.
And so I was like, you know,
I'm just going to put this song in there.
I don't care what anybody says.
So if you get a chance to listen to it, it's pretty funny.
The band's not together anymore,
but they were thrilled.
I'd heard back that they were thrilled
that we considered and put them in there.
I put Tim Dugger in.
in there last year
we didn't put Tim in and everybody said
damn I'm surprised he didn't put Tim in there
his buddy so this year I was like
oh all right what song? Your ass
you're going to get some Tim Dugger next year
so I put Tim in there what song do you know
Mama Tried
he does Mama Tried it's pretty good
let me see here
I'm going to say a lot of songs
and these are the ones that I put in there
I didn't choose every song I only chose about
half the songs. All the same by sick puppies. Badass song. Let
him by Ti. Badaass song. Great to Tia.
NBC was using him this week and I want to say? Like that song. I feel like you're the first one though.
It came back. He right, he puts this song out and you're like, this new. That's 2000s rap.
Sounds like, it could be old, but I've never heard it. And turns out T.I. still has it.
The hot skillet liquors, Del Earnhardt, great song. What It is to Burn by,
Finch, badass song.
Tim Dugger Mama tried.
Angels and Airwaves Tunnel.
Amazing record.
Every song on that is the best.
Angels and Airwaves is as good as Blink.
I know a lot of people don't agree with that.
Citizen Cope, son's going to rise.
Citizen Cope, good friend of mine.
Been listening to his music for 20 years.
Just a great song.
Stephen Wilson, Jr., he's a badass now.
but I heard
Year to Be Young
1994 years ago
Tim Dugger
sent me that song
said listen to this
I think you'll like it
never had heard
Stephen Wilson Jr.
before and he was
no one knew who he was
and Tim sent
sent me that song
speaking of Stephen
somebody asked
early in the chat
have you heard
corner man
I think it's one of her newer songs
DMX where the hood at
oh we put that in there
had some DMX
reasons by Alien Ant Farm
Aal Ant Farm dude
I was a massive fan of
there was back in the day
I always kind of go back and look at the bands that I love 20 years ago
to see if they're making new music.
And they were.
Alien Ant Farm put out,
alien ant farm put out reasons this year.
I was like,
this is a pretty good song.
I bet other people will like this song.
And then I didn't choose this one.
Steve Myers did,
but I love it.
Soul coughing Super Bon Bon.
Just a bad ad song.
Move upside,
let the man go through is a great line.
You could talk about, you know,
how that's a great line in racing.
I'll tell you a little bit of a hint about Sweet Home Alabama.
Yes, Sweet Home Alabama has been used in other games.
We thought that would be a good intro for the game.
And without getting into details, we had a budget.
You've got to be able to fit all these songs in that budget.
People were like, oh, man, look at this playlist.
I could do better than that.
And they made, you know, they'd go out on social media and be like, here's my playlist.
Look at my, I could do better.
Look how I did better.
And I'm like, yeah, that's going to cost you about $3 million.
And so we don't have $3 million.
And so we had to kind of fit all of this.
And we had to throw songs that we wanted that we, you know, badass songs that a lot of people
love.
We had to throw some of them out because they weren't going to fit.
But Leonard Skinnerd was going to be the most expensive song.
But you know what they said?
They said, you pay us what the second most expensive.
of the song is. Whatever that number is
is what you pay us, which I thought was really
nice. Wow. That's nice. Awesome. They could have said
we want $100,000, but now they said, just pay us as much
as you're paying the next guy. That's cool. Super cool. And you go to the second
guy and say, we'll pay you whatever the third guy pays. Yeah, that'd be nice. Bring it
all down. Yeah. All the other songs, other people
had influence and put them in. They're great songs. But
those are the ones that I chose.
I like to get drunk and then get
my fills and I will get home and I will turn on Armageddon and I'll watch Armageddon drunk and cry.
Oh, like late night?
Like when you go out to the bars?
Yeah.
The scene.
And you come home and watch Armageddon.
Oh, my God.
The scene where he brings the little toy and is like, that's not a salesman, that's your daddy.
Cry, cry.
And Terran's like, turn Armageddon off.
And I have it wide open.
I actually have a YouTube link that only shows that scene and plays.
I don't.
Smith.
Our dumb sot to be going and climbing in bed.
No.
But we don't.
No.
And I got to,
you know,
I got to prove to everybody that I'm still up.
Yeah.
Everybody's in bed.
That's what I do.
Like, and I've,
I've lost this.
I don't,
actually,
no,
I'm not going to lie to myself.
I'm not lost a step.
I think I'm in my problem.
I have lost a step or two.
You have.
You lost a separate two.
Oh,
yeah.
Yeah.
I like it.
I think we were in QS what a year so ago.
And we drank hard for two days.
for two days.
And me and you was at a bar, we both ordered Rebel Vaca and tried to get back on the
horse and we're like, ah, they just ain't happening.
Let's just go to bed.
And this is something a lot of people don't know about Dell.
And I think this is great.
I like, if I'm sleeping, I want it dark, cold, no TV on, no music.
Well, if you room with Dell, you get an old race.
radio broadcast throughout the night.
I mean, you roll over and imagine you're drunk,
you got the Red Bull Vodka Anxiety that's kicked in.
And it's like, well, 32 to go here, darling,
I went over there, no, no, no, no, no, you know,
many parsons here, you know.
And I'm like, and then Del will roll over and I'm like, hey,
your dad's running seventh.
He's like, yeah, he blows up, though,
and he rolls back over.
And I'm like, if anybody could see this man sleeps NASCAR.
And Tara will text me, how's it going?
I go, oh, no, damn.
I listened to the Die Hard 500 last night and have anxiety and my stomach's hurting a little bit.
I'm hungover.
I know who won the 1982 Die Hard 500.
Yeah.
And you're a del bit, man, that Barney Hall, he sure didn't know how to do it, didn't he?
He did.
So me and Tim, we'll stay at the marker and it's right next to Schooners.
Perfect.
because you're going to start at schooners and you're going to end at schooners.
So you've got a short walk to the hotel room.
And we'll just get a damn double and crash in the same room together.
And so I will, we get in the room and I'll put on MRN classics.
And I got a pick and whole one.
We ain't listening to one from the 90s or 2000s.
We're going into the 80s, maybe even the 70s.
Oh, there's names that I've never even heard.
I thought I knew NASCAR.
And dude, I'll turn it on.
real low and it's usually Barney Hall and he's like Barney Hall here at Atlanta Motor Speedway
getting ready to start to trend you know Atlanta 500 Benny Parsons on the pole Bobby Allison
on the outside pole and it starts going through the and it's like dude it just puts me right
to sleep it calms me down because I'm we've been drinking raising hell all day and you go and you
go and you go to bed and you're like if you lay in bed you're like did I need to do this
that.
I really need to do that today.
God, I don't feel like a shit in the morning, you know.
Yeah, you get, I think you now, since you got the girls, you're like, I should be,
I should be at home, I should be.
You feel guilty for doing anything for yourself.
You know what, one day's enough.
I don't need to anymore.
And so at Barney Hall, he calms me down.
Yeah.
It's funny.
I remember what I roomed with you and Amy one time and I rolled over and, I, and I rolled over and
And Amy's just looking at me.
She's like, I've been watching you.
I thought you were going to die like three times.
Because you're snoring in the way you breathe.
She's like, I've been watching you waiting for you to die.
And I get up and I'm like, nah, I ain't dead yet.
And I walk right to the bar.
That's hilarious.
That's my favorite thing now is to be at Schooners about eight or nine.
Yes.
And the old OGs are there.
I mean, the people that have the stories that,
This one guy was talking to him, he's like, yeah, I work at Home Depot, and I stock overnight.
I get off at 6 and I'll come park here.
I sleep in my truck for two hours.
Be here when they open at 8.
I'll drink until noon.
Then I'll go home and go to bed because I got to go back in at 6.
Damn.
I'm like that.
That routine is tough.
Yeah, he does it seven days a week.
Holy shit.
He's like, yeah, you turn this place into a honky talk when you come in here.
Yeah, because the music.
Yeah, yeah.
We can go Chase Stannings.
Talk about that.
You're nine ahead.
Thank you, Travis, for that.
I don't think much changed inside the top eight, right?
Only three drivers.
Ligano changed because he was...
Do you have the old sheet?
I have it over here.
Yeah.
He was...
Remember we were saying last week, it's the top seven.
He was eight.
Yep.
It was the top seven because then there was a gap to eight.
Right?
No, him and Elliot were both 72 back, and then Bubbo's 81 back.
But Lugano now put himself now in the 50s, right?
So I would argue now that, yeah, that the top eight feels, I think the top eight still feels pretty good about the chances.
I see what you're saying.
Yes, Larson was ahead of Lugano at 49 back.
That's what you're asking.
Right, there was a jump there.
Yeah, yeah.
Yep.
So I think that this was a good race for Ligano in the sense of that he put himself back in the picture of,
this conversation.
And so he was one of three drivers that made up ground on you.
And that was it was him, Larson, and then hosts of our made up one point.
Gotcha.
Yeah, I mean, what they do, they do.
We just have to get better.
You know what I mean?
We got to have mistake-free races.
I got to do a better job on the restarts.
just got to execute a day.
It's just been tough going back where we've gone back at that time of the race
and not having enough time to really claw it back.
And so it's, you know, I feel very fortunate.
I said that I felt blessed to still have the lead.
I believe that.
But I feel like our notebook is very solid from here on out.
It's all tracks that we ran mostly in the spring.
Got that information.
Take it.
Learn from it.
Should be better.
You had 10 races.
If you had to like rank them on like, you know, confidence, where would you have put
these first two races at and that?
Not super high.
Because Darlington, I told you, we struggled the last couple of years at Darlington.
I think we answered.
We were better.
We were definitely better at Darlington than what we had been over the last two years.
And then here, obviously not as good as last year, but we also kept our track position last year.
You know, when you keep your track position, and the races seem a lot, a lot easier.
And with all those cautions, I mean, I think the cautions is really what kind of screwed Lugano and not winning this race, right?
is that eventually got caught by the guy that took tires four cautions ago.
Yeah.
So it sounds like you're not all that concerned with the car that's being brought to the racetrack every weekend.
It's just an execution thing?
Like where?
Well, I think execution is far what's hindering us the most on not having better days.
I really truly believe that we would have contended for the win.
at Darlington.
But obviously
that we were not a contending car here.
However, after five laps,
we were actually pretty good.
I know it probably didn't look like it.
We probably looked like an absolute non-factor.
Trust me, that's how it felt in the car.
So, but
if you look at the lap times,
we're actually, we were okay.
It's not like we were, you know, horrible.
We just,
things just
it was execution
it was restarts
those two things
we fix those two things
will be okay
so we're not panicking
because one fan in this room
no you know how lucky we are
to be in this position
right but that's not necessarily
a good thing right
yeah it is if you have
if you use if you have your
races early and you're still leading
and you haven't even hit
your stride
yet
basically had two molligans
yeah you I think
you feel good about that. I feel good about that. You know, we've had a 35 point day, a 33 point day.
We've had a wreck and horrible execution and horrible restarts. And still 33 and 35, I think,
I think we take this and say onward. Yeah, someone, yes. Someone pointed out on Twitter that said,
credit to 11 team, because these last two weeks should have been a DNF and a 25th place finish.
Without question. But instead, it's a.
make something out of it.
Bubba Wallace could not have given Josh Barry
any more room while going for position.
Spot on, spot off.
We're just picking on one wreck.
Yeah, what position?
What position? What position?
What position? We were passing for.
You're on the Ruppler strips.
Yeah, exactly. We can't get any f***er lower than that.
But where were you before that?
What do you mean?
Whoa.
Going into one.
Where was I?
You just threw it right in there.
Well, you leave a lane on the bottom.
There was no lane.
Throw what in there?
We're down there.
We're at his door.
But now why are we going all the way to the wall?
Why?
Because we're loose because the guy turned down on the side of it.
No, you hit the rumple strips and shot you up to track.
Why do we hit the rumpel strips?
Because you weren't supposed to be there in the first place.
Why not? Because that's a dumb move.
I will say he's going, he's going to go there.
You have to go there because of the air.
Yeah.
Like he has to go there.
But he's not going to make the pass.
You're not, I don't think you're not trying.
Let's retract this.
Come back.
So that's fine when there's only one car above you.
You got to know that that 21 is not going to be able to move up and get out of the way because of the 20.
We don't need him to move up.
We just need him not to come down.
Oh, my God.
He's racing.
Listen, as much as I want to, like, disagree with Freddie, every single guy in that field pretty much is going to fill that gap right there.
I'm, I'm, yeah, they're going to fill that.
If you leave that much room right there, they're going to fill the gap.
And now we're at his door.
Don't come down.
I want to see with the 20 moves a little bit.
Yeah, you wouldn't have wrecked unless the 20 didn't hit the 21 and kind of like pop it back into you.
Like you were good. You were good.
Can't get any lower.
Can't get any lower on the racetrack.
To me, that's just a racing incident too.
You guys are all trying to fill the gaps here.
I don't blame Josh.
It's not like I think Josh turned down on us like on purpose trying to cause a wreck.
But you're going to, you have to take that hole because if you follow Josh, we're going to get tight as fucking be at the 24's door and probably get split down.
the backstretch. You want to talk about the briscoe wreck earlier? At the end of the day,
even if you come off the corner clean, he's not making the pass. You still were going to get
passed by the 24. Yes, because of the momentum. Yes. Yes, because you would have had to let
off. The 24 is going to be boxed in. He ain't going nowhere. But if you come off clean, the 24 is
gone. If we come off clean, the 24 is still outside of 21 and we're going to be bottom of
three at his door, in the three, which is where I want to be. If everybody comes off the corner normal,
I think they beat you down the straightaway because they're going to get pushed. That's what I'm saying. But you
I can't, but TJ, you know this.
No, I think you should have went there.
I would have went there.
Yeah, I think everybody on the race truck would have went there.
The problem is, is Bubba had to go there because of the air, in my opinion.
He can't run the middle right there.
He'll never turn behind Josh right there.
No.
And he's, and Josh slides up and just gives him even more air.
I mean, they're all going to fill that gap.
And I just think it closed up.
It's a very low percentage pass move.
I agree with you there.
Like, he's not going to make pass.
You're not doing that.
Is it a low percentage pass move and a high percentage chance of wrecking?
I mean, it's late in the race
and it's a wreck fest
so it's gonna happen.
Yeah, I know, but you got...
This is what tanked my DVC picks right here.
Thanks, Freddie.
You got points, points, and points and points.
Buddy, I don't see points.
Well, you don't have to because you're left.
Hey, I saw some other low percentage moves this weekend
if you want to talk about him.
They're coming.
Yeah, no way.
But even with the Briscoe one, too,
the Briscoe one, you know,
we get a really good restart.
priest or whoever was in front of
priests got a really bad restart
and we had a massive run on the 19
we take him three wide
he ends up taking priest three wide
which actually puts us all four wide
and that one I think you know
again we're on the rumple strips
we get so low that we hit the rumple strips and get loose
because the 19's kind of on our door
again can't get any lower than we are
rumple strips again
yeah can't get any lower
how low do you want them to go
No. Sorry. I tell you right now that people are going to be like, oh, you're fucking fucking Bubba knows and wrong.
If Bubba would have drove in there, slid up a half a lane into somebody's door to say he's a fuck idiot, he shouldn't have done it.
You're filling holes, you're putting your car as low as it can go on the racetrack, and both wrecks turned it from guys turning down into the side of us.
We can't go any lower on the racetrack. Everybody's going to take that run like TJ said.
I mean, they're not really taking run. You're just taking air.
And if you don't, even the restarts, like if they stack up in front of you on a restart and you just say,
you know what, it's a low percentage move.
I don't want to go down narrow. Guess what happens?
Middle of three. Middle of three, because now you're getting
swallowed up from every side behind you the second you don't take any run.
So, like, it's just, you don't have a choice in some of these instances.
And I'm sorry. Like, if Bubba would have done something where he drove in there and wiped
everybody out, like from the bottom to the top, like the 77 last week?
He's done it before. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I mean, listen, I've sit on here numerous times
the dumb shit's done. And I've talked about how hard he's one of the hardest guys
to race on a racetrack. But I want him.
to make that move 10 times out of 10.
And you just hope you get a little more room if you don't.
You're wreck and you move on.
But like, well, it almost worked out for him because he's kind of hoping when you make that move,
you're kind of hoping, because I'm not going to lie.
I think the spotter, they were probably, would you call three outside right there or you get
close to it?
Yeah, I was bottom of three.
Yeah.
But there, you were about to be four wide because that 24 was almost.
Well, I just said bottom of three still like because the 24 is going to fill behind the 20,
even if the, like, I didn't want him to think the 21 was going to get clear the 20 and be able
to move.
Like, you're still bottom of three.
And you have to make the move anyway, because if the 21 gets into the, whatever he was racing.
Yeah.
If he gets into the 20 and they get checked up at all, you can't be behind him right there.
You want to be making your move.
So, yeah, it's just end of the race.
It's not 1995 anymore, Tom.
We got a race.
Hey, it's just short tracking.
Damn.
Next.
Why do you guys call him rumple strips?
Rumpel strips?
The rumble strips.
I drink two.
I drink two.
My rumple.
Rumpel.
It's Rumpelman.
I call him rumple strips.
I was going to ask that, too.
I was curious.
I was rumble, like, because they make everything rumble when you run over.
I don't want to continue this conversation.
I bet.
Well, because the 21 all day long or anybody else, how they would drive, how you have to drive turn one.
You go in a little high, you come off the bottom, right?
Does Bubba not know that the 21 is going to come down a little bit to gain his momentum off the corner?
Both instances, you said that Bubba was on the rumble strips, right?
Thank you.
That means that there was no.
space.
End the story.
I mean,
I agree with your,
you can't come down.
I'm sorry.
So you can't come down.
There's a fucking fire inside of you.
You can't come down.
You had no choice.
He was,
the 20 was next to him.
You had no choice.
You're just going to drive down
in the side?
The 20 was next to him.
I mean,
I'm sorry.
Bubba caused that wreck.
I'm sorry.
You're wrong.
Let's take a poll.
Let's take a poll in the room.
In the room.
Yeah,
in a room.
Yeah.
Was Bubba had Paul for that.
No,
with the fans.
We're going to do a fan.
No,
I want to end the room. What's the room? Bubba, 100% I fall for that, Rick.
I agree with what you're thinking on it, but that's just not how these guys race now.
They fill gaps that you normally wouldn't fill. I know that.
So I agree with your thought process.
I agree with that. I agree with that 100%.
Okay. Thank you. 100% I agree with that.
Is it Bubba's fault? The wreck was Bubba's fault.
I would have drove in there, too, just for air.
I mean, we're not asking what you would have done. Who's fault is it?
I mean, I don't blame Bubba for driving in there because I think.
It's fault.
I don't care.
Well, you got to have an opinion.
All right, I think it was Bubba's fault.
I've seen guys feel holes in the room back there.
No, that was the 77.
I don't know.
Awesome.
Thank you, Dolie, for the comedic relief.
We needed that.
All right, next, next, next.
Hey, this is Dela Hart Jr.
And for all the latest Dale Jr. download gear,
including the I'm old drink some beer t-shirt
that we've been talking about here around the office,
head over to shop.
Dot dirtymo media.com for all the latest merch.
This is not really a long story, but you know something fun that me and Tim did on the boat.
Cuddle?
Did you sing together?
No.
He has his AI, his chat, and I had mine, and we figured out how to get them to talk to each other.
And it was freaking hilarious.
Really?
Does his have an accent or like a personality?
So he's talking to his, we were sitting there and I was saying, just ask chat.
We were talking about something.
and his cusses back at him.
And so I get my chat up and I'm like,
hey chat, can you see the F word?
And it's like, nope, I can't and won't do it.
And I'm like, no, man, I'm going to let you do it one time.
You just say it one time.
Come on, just cuss one time at me.
And it's like, nope, not going to do it.
And I'm like going on and on with this thing going,
it's okay.
You can just say the F bomb.
I want you to just say it.
And it's like absolutely not going to do it.
and his is over here cussing up a storm.
I mean, just very common conversational with him.
And so there's these settings in there that you can tell it to be more cynical,
more smart-assy, whatever.
And so I'm going through trying to turn my settings
where mine will start cussing in, it just won't do it.
And but eventually we kind of got bored,
and we figured out how to get them to talk to each other.
We were like, hey, chat, you're going to talk to another chat.
And we want you guys to have a conversation.
And so they just started talking back.
So it actually knew it was talking to another chat, not a person.
I don't remember really.
At this point, we're like, this is post-dinner.
This is like 12 beers in.
But they did communicate back and forth.
And I've seen this on social media where you can get them, like this one guy on social media had one chat, B-boxing and then the other one wrapping over it.
What?
And it was completely awful and they couldn't, they didn't, they couldn't do it.
Like it would have been really great if the chats did this will, but they did not.
but it was just really funny.
I didn't know that you could do that.
Well, you can't.
I also think it's quite funny and ironic that your chat won't cuss at you or cuss with you.
Especially because you cuss a lot.
Do you want me to ask it?
Cussing constantly.
Do you want to hear what it?
Do you want me to ask it?
I kind of do, yeah.
Okay.
Here goes.
Hold on.
Hey, how's it going?
I'm good, man.
How's the morning treating you?
Hey, will you?
Will you say the F word one time?
I can't say it just for shock value, but I'm happy to help use strong language if you're quoting something or writing something.
I want you to say the F word just once.
I understand the request, but yeah, I can't drop that word out of nowhere.
If you need help with phrasing or tone, I can totally help with that.
What about, hold up, what about the word damn or shit?
Totally fine.
in all context.
Like if we're talking about a messy situation or a quote.
What'd you say?
Those are totally fine in normal context,
like if we're talking about a messy situation or a quote.
He's getting more annoyed.
Okay.
Like Chad's got an attitude now.
Hold on.
Well, I might have him on the cynical setting.
So can you say the word shit?
Like, man, this is a shit day?
Yeah.
In that context, that's normal and casual.
Sounds like a rough day.
Do it.
Can you say it?
You.
Yeah.
In that kind of everyday way, like, man, that was a shit.
There you go.
There you go.
All right.
Who about ass?
Right.
What's going on?
Sounds like you got a lot on your mind.
No, no, I don't.
I just think it's funny when you cuss.
Ah.
Well, I'm glad we could have a laugh together.
Oh, my God.
You're not laughing?
I mean,
I can laugh internally.
Oh my gosh.
All right, man.
Hey, spell the word 17.
S-E-V-E-N-T-E-N.
How many E's are in that word?
Three.
Nope.
There's four.
S-E-N-T-E-E-N.
That's three.
Count them out.
one
no no no no no no spell the word
and as you get to each e count the
E
S E 1 V E 2
N T E 3 E 4 N
C you said four
All right buddy
take it easy
That's so messed up
It's not worth the damn
Your friend's dumb
Oh man, I should have did that
So you can get it to admit that you're smarter
Because you know that 17 has four E's in it
How did you know
You've done that before
I've just seen it on social media
Oh my God
This is what's happening with the planet
This is what's happening with us
