It is so deadly, so deadly that, let me see if I could get this. The Belgian, I think it's the Belgian Prime Minister, says this should be called COVID-21. Hmm? So we should say that it was discovered in the year that it was discovered? No. He says it's three times more infectious than the original virus. So it should be instead of COVID, I'm quoting, instead of COVID-19, it should be COVID-21. 20-21, that's two.

Shouldn't it be 22? So weird. I have no idea. So anyway, the panic began. Just this weekend, the World Medical Association Chair demanding now national lockdowns and making sure that everyone is mandated all around the world. He says the new South African variant is a good example of the mutations and us trying to prevent every possible infection and how it can't be done. We don't know anything about its dangerousness yet, but it seems to be spreading rapidly. Now, there's no fearmongering on this following sentence.

My great concern is it could lead to a variant that is as infectious as Delta, but as dangerous as Ebola. as dangerous as Ebola. Wow. It might have mutated a little faster. Right. Then, you know, it's weird to go from like you're sick. And if you're old, you could die like from pneumonia kind of like thing to blood

shooting out of every orifice of your body. That's the danger of Omicron. Omicron. Yeah. Okay. So I don't. Yeah, I don't think it's going to be. become Ebola? Really? Yeah. I'm going to come up and say that right now. I'm going to come out and say

that. Yeah. Yeah. Now, here's the next, this is from CNN. Their headline, Amacron, variant puts world in a race against time. A race against time. Huh. Now, the biostatistician professor, Sheila Bird, said the test results from Amsterdam were concerning, but more data is needed. Adding that the vaccination status and age distribution of those infected will also need to be considered before any conclusions could be made about this variant. The situation should be seen with alert rather than alarm until we know more. Okay, so that doesn't sound like Ebola, does it?

No. Because he wouldn't really need a lot of time, you know, Yeah, the patients came in and they were bleeding out of their eyes and boils all over their body. Give it more time. Let's see what happens. Yeah. I mean, yes, it's a little different than the normal cough and fever. But let's give it a couple of weeks.

Okay, so now here is the South African doctor who was the one who kind of found this strain. She was the first one to go, there's something else here. This is different. We've seen a lot of Delta patients during the third wave, and this one didn't fit the clinical picture. Most patients we are seeing have very, very mild symptoms, and none of them so far have been admitted to the hospital. We've been able to treat these patients conservatively at home. Hmm. Also, so far patients have not reported a loss of smell or taste,

and there has been no major drop in oxygen levels with the new variant. The most prominent clinical complaint is sepired fatigue for one or two days and a headache and body aches and pain. My general, like, normal stance is severe fatigue. Like, I just, that's just my normal life. I wouldn't even notice this. I wouldn't notice you. I just want to go back to bed.

That's the way I start my day. Yeah. So, again, just based on the woman who discovered the variant, right. That doesn't sound like Ebola. No. And doesn't sound like something we should worry about, really. Yeah. You know?

My understanding is that most of the patients they've seen with it have been younger, right? Yeah, 40. Yeah. They say it's hitting people under 40. Yeah. But again, with severe fatigue. It's definitely not in both. For one or two days.

Okay. I mean, I don't think there's any other than one crazy person's. Right. But the media, the tone of the media coverage feels like it's in a race against time. That is what it feels like. Yeah. Okay. All right.

So here's the truth on this. It was detected in Botswana and South Africa while we were having our Turkey. since then Canada, Germany, the UK, Hong Kong, Belgium, Singapore, and Holland all have had cases of Amacron. No confirmed cases here in the United States. It has been found out in more than a dozen nations. Most contact tracing showing travel from South Africa as the most common source. South Africans had had more than 200 confirmed cases as of yesterday. the chairwoman of the South African Medical Association assured the media that while they're closely monitoring the situation, the good news is that to date, there have been no deaths from the new variant and quoting, most people have mild, very, very mild symptoms, end quote.

So we have the mutation. The media wants you to panic over this. There is no reason to panic over this. However, New York has declared a state of emergency. New York has declared a state of emergency despite not a single case being identified in the state. Or the country yet, by the way. Yes.

I mean, that will probably happen soon, but we don't have any in the country at this time. We probably don't know about it because the symptoms are very, very mild. The governor of California, Michigan, and New York have issued health alert warnings to public agencies, including schools about the new variant of concern. despite the fact there's no evidence the new variant is more virulent or deadly. Now, Stu, you're into this kind of stuff. You're into stats. Sure.

You're into science. This show is known for its scientific breakthroughs. Yes, mostly our 44 part series. Right. On science in general. On science in general. Yeah, yeah. And I'm a doctor.

So let me ask you this. And feel free to talk down to me. Okay. Pretend I don't know. But when you have a virus like COVID, what is the virus's goal? To find a new host to replicate. To find a new host. Right.

What stops a virus from finding a new host? Well, it's not being no pathway to transmit. Okay. All right. Or the host dies. Okay. The host dies. The host dies.

When the host dies, the virus dies. Unless somebody's like, hey, let's play with grandpa's dead body. Right. Which does happen in the movies often. All the time. All the time, especially in California and New York and Michigan. So if the virus acts like, oh, I don't know, every other virus known to man, the virus looks for a way to spread faster, but be less deadly. Mm-hmm.

Correct? Usually this is what happens. Yeah, yeah. In almost all circumstances with a virus, almost, it generally speaking, becomes less deadly, more virulent, because that's in the best interest of the virus. Usually that's what happens. Yeah, yeah.

Okay, all right. So let me ask you something. And this is, by the way, why, despite the eye bleeding, Ebola has only killed 11,000 people globally since the beginning of time. Yes. And all generally in a little area. Very little area. It's very hard to continue the transmission lines because it,

tends to kill most of the people. Kills everybody quickly and then people are like, hey, I haven't heard from Uncle Bob in a while. I haven't heard from Aunt Helen either. Maybe we should get on these space suits and go see what happened to the village. Right. Okay.

It doesn't spread because it kills people so quickly. And there's tons of Aunt Helens in these villages. Tons. Tons. Tons. They're almost all named Helen. So with that understanding, I have a very important question.

Yes. Okay. Let me give it to you in 60 seconds. There are those who lead and those who follow. And when it's time for you to buy or sell a house, especially in this housing market, the type of person you need as a real estate agent is the former, not the latter.

Okay. All right. Okay. So, they don't want us to question this science at all. Because questioning Fauci is questioning science. He actually said that again this weekend. No, no. This is his defense.

He's just science now. He is science now. The voice of science. No, you got a voice of science. So anyway, they don't want you to question anything. Well, I have a couple of questions. Let's start with a pessimistic one. Knowing how viruses generally mutate,

they generally mutate like the Spanish flu did and become less deadly, more virulent. In seeing how everybody in the government, and science and the WHO and the UN held an emergency meeting over the weekend. An emergency meeting for something that the person who discovered this variant said it's causing very, very mild symptoms. So let me ask you this. Pessimistic side. do you know something that I don't know?

As the UN and the WHO and Fauci, do you know like, for instance, where this virus originally came from? And do you know maybe that it was messed around with man? And so this would react differently than your average virus? Do you know something about the. makeup of this virus that you're not telling us that makes you go, good God, man, it came out of our lab. We know what it's going to mutate into. It's very pessimistic. Very pessimistic, right?

Or, and this is the not so pessimistic. Okay. Or are you just causing all of this fear so you can stay in control of everything. None of these seem optimistic. That's as optimistic as I can get. I mean, I think you could argue, right? Because they have hyped how many of these things. All of them? All of them, right?

They've all been hyped. The overwhelming majority of them, you probably never read a story about, right? Like, the Epsilon variant was maybe a kicker story for two days, right? The one that... I freaked out. I locked myself in for two days. Again, but the media didn't even freak out.

There were some of that, right? And we mocked it at the time. Right. They are reacting differently than they have to other variants. Now, the best case scenario, I think, here is that when they had a serious variant last time, which was Delta, and it ravaged India and killed up to, you know, multiple millions of people, we didn't really do anything, right? So maybe they're just overreacting and overly concerned. This would be, I think, the optimistic take here. Okay, I've got another optimistic take.

Or the people that are in charge are so freaking racist that when they see something come from Africa, they immediately go Ebola. They immediately go, it's bad, it's exotic. It's coming from the jungles of Africa. The others have brought it to us. The others have brought it to us. There is that possibility. They're just so racist that they immediately go, it's going to be a killer. And that's kind of Africa's take, by the way.

They're like, you guys are just punishing us for finding this thing. Like, why are you doing this? We shouldn't have even told you about it. Right. You wouldn't even have known about it for a long time. South Africa is like, why are you doing this? Yeah. Because they're saying very, very mild symptoms.

Very, very mild. Why are you doing this? So, and it's a fair question. though we do, of course, maintain the rights to our own borders. Yeah, of course. Now, at least that's what I thought. However, the Biden administration thought that. May I put another log on the, maybe they're all racists.

Okay. Okay, sure. Let me throw another log on that fire. Because I'm only using their words when Donald Trump, after all kinds of people died. Okay. All kinds of evidence. This is really scary. Yeah.

He said travel ban. and Joe Biden said that's racist. Right. There's no evidence that this is anything other than very, very mild symptoms. And yet we have a travel ban. Yeah, that you'd think that the person who said the first one was racist would think this is even more racist. Yeah, especially that it came from Africa. Right.

What is it you're afraid of, Joe Biden? You know what? You know what, this lockdown is nothing. than a racist dog whistle that these liberals in this administration are blowing at the top of their lungs. I hate to say that too. Move. What are you thinking? Now, I used to live in Connecticut, so I get it. You know, I guess you just feel like, it's not so bad. It is. It is. Yeah. A lot of this has to be, you have to understand the relative aspect of the rest of life. Yeah. I thought about this when I, because I also grew up in Connecticut. Right.

And I don't think I ever was in love with Connecticut as a place, mainly because I don't like cold weather. Right. So, but you don't really realize until you leave. It's a dump heap. No, it is. It's a dump heap. It's funny because like that, the way it's presented on television is like these nice rolling hills and these beautiful. beautiful homes and there's certainly areas of it that are nice, but generally speaking, everything's old.

Nothing's wide enough for the American male of 2021. No. It's all too small. It's all falling apart. Yeah. And it's, we're supposed to go, oh, but that's charming. No, the degradation of crap. Yeah.

As it always does. It does. Oh, this is a charming house. What's wrong with it? That's what you have to say. What's wrong with it? No, it's charming. Didn't you buy a charming house in Connecticut at one point?

I did. I did. I bought this charming little farmhouse from 1823. Oh, my gosh. Little old me from the West. Oh, an old house where I grew up, 1920 was old. Okay. And so I'm like, wow, 1820, this is charming.

You know, it's got a little work to do, but how bad could it be? That bad. It can be that bad. don't do it now the state of Connecticut should be described as charming which should tell you

get out get out and by the way well but you want to pay you I don't want you want to leave before you pay your high taxes you want to make sure you get those high taxes paid first yeah because that's one of the charming parts of Connecticut well that in all of the businesses that have been closed

you know all the factories that are just like nobody's in that factory for the last 10 years. Wonder why. That's not a COVID thing. Yeah, that's not a COVID closing. That's just a, oh yeah, no, that's abandoned the area. Yeah, that's not a bug of Connecticut.

That's a feature of, you cannot run a business there. Now, which leads me to another discovery. And I don't say this just about Connecticut, but mainly about people from the east. they're the rudest SOBs I've ever encountered. There's very few places that are that rude.

Well, that is sort of a feature of the North Sea. It's not above. You think of you walk into a New York Deli. New York delis are nice. New York delis are nice. They are.

No, they're famous for, you know, what do you want? You know, like it's not, there's not a, the Southern charm is different. It's like the, yeah, but the difference is they're just, they're like,

what do you want? Where if you go down south, they're like, why, you are just, bless your heart. They're saying the same thing. They are saying the same thing. Okay. So I'd rather have somebody just come out and say, okay, okay. However, well, let me give you a story. So my aunt, who I don't, she's, she's older than I am, and let's just leave it at that. She's a sweet, sweet woman.

Okay. And my uncle, Uncle Ed, is the same. He's a business owner. He's been in business forever. He's quiet. They're solid people. And they're very loyal, especially to local businesses. So they go into this place, Draghi and Sons.

It's in Glastonbury, South Glastonbury. And my aunt has bought pies there for years. Okay? She brings the pies. You know, I see my aunt and uncle. you know, on holidays. She brings these great pies. So she goes into this place,

because she's coming down for Thanksgiving, she goes into this place that she's gone for years. And she said, can I get a, I think she said a maple, apple, walnut pie, please. Ladies behind the counter said, I don't know if we have any of those.

Let me go check. So she goes back in checks. And all of a sudden, this woman who is, we find out later, the pie buyer, don't mess with her. She comes barreling out of the refrigerator. And she looks at my aunt. She said, we don't carry those. Those are carried by the farm place down the street. And my aunt was like, okay, well, I don't know because I've never been there.

Yes, you have. That's where you buy those pies. No, I buy my pies here every year. Right. Well, you do not. You're mistaken because they sell the maple apple walnut down at that store. And we've never carried them. Okay, well, I've only bought my apple pies here. So the lady says, you're wrong. Okay. She's like, she didn't know where to go with that. She's like, I know, I, no, I. I know I only buy my pies here. This goes on for a while. The lady just is like, she is angry at my aunt for some reason.

And either that or it's her natural charm, which later I find out it is. She is standing there and she's accusing my aunt of lying, of betraying this pie place where she's always been, you don't even know where you buy your pies. And so the lady behind the counter said, you know, we do have a, what was it, a caramel apple walnut. And my aunt looks at the lady behind the counter. She's like, oh, yeah, that's what it was.

The pie buying lady looks at my aunt and said, I told you we didn't sell those. You were buying them from down there. She said, no, that's the pie. I made a mistake. I said maple instead of caramel. And she was like, well, we don't make the maple apple walnut pie. She's like, I got it. I got it.

She was so, and she just was so demeaning to my aunt. The lady behind the counter said, do you want the caramel apple? And she said, she looked at the other lady, said, no, I think I'm going to go down the street. And buy that pie. Right. And the lady said, I told you, you bought you. your pies there. My aunt just turned around.

Weird accusation. I know weird, right? My aunt just turns around and the lady goes, bitch. Oh, my God. Now, this is my sweet aunt, Linda, but she's also Italian. Uh, you don't want to say,

she turned around, she said, what did you just call me? She looked her in the eye and said, bitch. Oh, my God. Now, Tanya. Because she's in a Beth Dutton's state of mind lately, would have crawled it over the counter.

My aunt Linda just left. She calls her husband. When she gets home, they talk about it. And he's just this really, you know, I mean, she is too, but he's really calm and collected. So he's, I'm just going to call the owner. So he calls the owner. And he said, look, I don't want to make a big deal out of this,

but you should just know how a customer of yours was treated. Yeah. I mean, that's right, right. You would think. Absolutely unacceptable for anyone to be treated, even if they are being really rude, which does not seem to be the case here. No, it wasn't.

No. So he's talking to the owner again of Dragy and Sons Farmstand in South Glastonbury, where they do not carry all kinds of apple pies. don't get it wrong. So he calls the guy up and he says, look, I know I'm a small businessman and I know you're in the middle of your season and I also know what it's like to get an employee right now,

but you should know after the holidays, maybe, you know, some disciplinary action here. And the guy goes, uh-huh, well, I'm sorry. And my uncle had says, okay, yeah, well, what? I'm sorry. Okay. And it hangs up the phone.

And he's telling me this. He's telling me this at the table and I'm like, have we lost our minds? Have we really gotten to the point where business people don't even know that the customer is always right? Now, when I said that at the table, my son and daughter said, Customer's not always right, Dad. And I said, no, in business, you just put up with it. You just put up with it.

Traditionally, that's the way you handle a situation. Correct. You just let it go. Certainly a customer that's been going there for multiple decades. Right. Try to understand maybe what pie. Unless she was lying about where she gets her pies. That's true.

And I thought, this is typical Northeast stuff. Yeah. This is typical Northeast. But I think it's starting to happen all. over the country. Yeah, probably is. I mean,

certainly a lot of employees now. You see horror stories from business owners all the time that are trying to hire people. And they'll just be like, yeah, if you're not going to give me a $5,000 bonus to start, you know, I'm not coming. You know,

they just, there's this entitlement of, of the employee. They think they can do whatever they want. And, you know, like, I think there should be a balance,

right? They shouldn't just be like the business owner rolling over their employees. Nobody wants that. But the opposite is also ridiculous. But I will tell you, though, I mean, my son just got a job. And he went in for his interview and he comes home and I said, how'd your interview go?

And he said, well, I got the job. And I said, great, how did the interview go? I was going to go over it with him. And he said, they called me in and said, your name's Rave? Yes. Do you have a social security card? Yeah, but I don't have it with me. Good.

Bring it in tomorrow. You're hired. That was it. Yeah. I mean, that is how desperate people are for workers. Yeah, you weren't here last week. Pat and I did the show. But Pat was telling the story. He went to Taco Bell.

Not really a completely crazy story from Pat or myself to go to Taco Bell. Correct. And he went to Taco Bell and there was a sign on the door that said, now hiring, work today, get paid today. Same day payment now. Oh, my gosh. So, like, they're now just, come in, look, come in today. You will start today and we will pay you today. Please come in to give nacho fries out to people.

So I, let's say, I had been at a Taco Bell recently as well. You? I know. I know. I saw something I couldn't believe. And it was written, you know, like somebody took a marker to the hiring now thing. And it said $250 referral fee. And they had cut it out.

They had, they had X'd it out and put it. $1,000 referral fee. And I'm like, how long, how long does somebody have to work at Taco Bell? For Taco Bell to go, that's worth $1,000. That's incredible. I mean, this is literally, if you are out there looking for a job, you are in the middle of the best job market we will ever see.

Matt Ridley, the author of How Innovation Works and the new book, Viral. We wanted to have him on today. I just did a podcast with him. If you have haven't listened to it, grab the podcast. It's really, really good. Matt, welcome back to the program. How are you? Great to be with you again, Glenn. How are you? I'm good. I'm good. So, Matt, I want to talk about the book, but can we lead here with the Omicron variant? We know very little about it. And I want to make sure I understand the way viruses generally work. They don't want to kill the host

because then they die. So they generally become less virulent, more transmissible. Correct? Well, correct for respiratory viruses, yes. There are 200 kinds of virus that cause

the common cold, coronaviruses, adenaviruses, rhinoviruses, and none of them kill the host, at least very, very rarely. And that's not true of sexually transmitted viruses, insect transmitted viruses, and some waterborne diseases, one or two others. So the key is anything spread by sneezes, you know, and coughs, does not want you even to feel sick, because then you'll stay at home and you won't go

and meet people and you won't spread it. Now, when I say want to, I'm using a kind of shorthand that. Yeah, I know. Yeah, yeah. The mild strains out-compete the tough strains. And this is already happening with Delta, the latest version of Delta is definitely milder than the first version of Delta. And probably Delta was milder than Alpha. We haven't got good enough data to be absolutely sure. So the fact that they're more transmissible, these new variants, is not the same as saying they're more virulent.

In fact, they're usually less virulent. And, you know, this thing is going to evolve into a mild endemic cold, I suspect. That Omicron is a very good thing, if that's the case. It's very transmissible. Mild aversion if these early reports from South Africa about it being very mild, turn out to be true. We can't be absolutely certain yet because it might just be young people where mild anyway. Why is the, why is everybody freaking out around the world?

Why are we closing everything down? The UN had a national security, I mean a security council meeting about this. What? Why? Well, the UN has. a meeting to to in a panic because they realized that they got to me you know in the Greek alphabet and the next one was new which didn't quite make sense because everybody would think it was just the new variant the one after that was z x i you know which is the same

name as the president of china so they thought let's leave out new and g and let's just go straight to omicron which is the next letter because we don't want to offend the chinese and that's fair enough you know, it's kind of provocative otherwise. But the funny thing is they didn't admit it. You know, they just, they did it under, you know, to say so. Why don't you say we didn't want to offend the Chinese? So they didn't even if I'm freaking out. Delta came out of India in the spring and it had been vaccinated,

although not nearly as danger to close flights from India. They got a lot of criticism for that. It wouldn't have made any difference. This thing was going to be around the world, whether we just wanted to be seen to be doing some of the South Africans because they were doing really good work identifying good, good molecular surveillance going on. And they, you know, they put the hand up in a very transparent way and said,

that we found a new one. It's got a lot of mutations in it. It probably is very transmissible. It might even be virulent. And it might be less virulent as well. Vaccine, I meant. And then they get punished by, you know, shutting down travel, cutting off tourism and so on.

And it turns out it's already in Britain and a number of other European countries already. So, you know, I think that we're not going to stop it that way. I doubt that if it's as infectious as they say, that more mandates on masks will make much different boost of programs. That's how we're going to. And it may be, as a good thing, if it displaces Delta with a mild aversion. Okay. So in your book, VIRAL, set this up. You and another scientist get together.

Alina Chan, yeah. Yeah. And you want to find out how did this whole thing start? what is it, where did it come from, and you want to just nail down some basic details. What did you find? Yeah. Well, what we found was that the more we looked, the harder it got to explain how it got to the city of Wuhan in particular by natural means, and the easier it got to come up with an explanation of how it got there in the hands of scientists.

because if it was like SARS, we'd have a pattern of infection in food handlers, we'd have a pattern of infected animals being sold in markets, none of that came to light. It shouldn't come to light in the first couple of months. Here we are two years into the pandemic, and we haven't got any such pattern that would support it. And recently you've had a paper published with a lot of Rasmiter saying, we found the first index patient, patient, patient zero.

It was infected in the middle of December. She was a shrimp seller in the market who was infected about a month after the thing got started. And there's no evidence. She picked it up from her shrimps. So, you know, this was a strange exaggeration of an interesting little bit of work they'd done on some of the early cases. I found it odd that Fauci brings this up and says that, no, no, no, it was. from the wet market. I mean, everything that I have read shows it's definitely not from the wet market. They tested everything. The Chinese authorities said it's not from the wet market. Now,

we know better than to trust the Chinese authorities, so we don't necessarily believe that. But they did test animals in that market, and they found no infected animals. Now, they might have missed one, of course, it's true. But they tested the surfaces, the suing, the, the sewage, the doorknobs, the countertops, etc., in the market, and they did find the virus, but the one they found was not the ancestral strain because there were two strains in existence by then, and only one of the strains was in the market.

So, you know, that market evidence shows very clearly that what happened there was a super spreader event, as far as we can tell. Of course, more data may come to light at any time. And therefore, we've got to look seriously at the other possibility, which is that these, the bats that are infected with these viruses, and by the way, no bats or penguins were on sale in that market.

We now know that. Bats that were infected with these viruses live a thousand miles away in southern China. Who goes to caves where these particular horseshoe bats live? They don't live in buildings, these bats, they live in caves. Who goes to these remote caves and then goes Wuhan Institute of Virology? You've been doing this for 10 years on an intense. They're trying to track down all. SARS-like viruses, catalog them, get to know them, do experiments on them and so on.

And where do they take the samples they get from bats? They take them back to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. And that's why when the pandemic began, the closest relative of SARS-CoV-2 was found in a freezer at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. It's called RATG-13, since a slightly more close one has been found in Laos. But we also know that the Wuhan Institute of Virology scientists were going to Laos and bringing viruses back from there. So we need to know all the viruses they collected and brought to Wuhan and they won't tell us. They won't tell us any of the viruses they've collected since

2016. And that doesn't seem to me good enough with at least five million people dead. What do you take from their shutting down of the vault, the website, where it had a database. Yeah. Yeah, their database. What do you take? That happened. on September 12th. Then they ask for more security on September 12th. Then they completely revamp their air handling system three days later. And then they get a, what is it, an O2 incinerator a couple of weeks after that. And we also know that there were patients being admitted.

Three of them were researchers from the Wuhan lab. and that happened, I think, in November, October or November. What do you make of all that? Well, it's very hard to tell. We're dealing with sketchy information. The U.S. intelligence community says that there were three researchers from the lab who were hospitalized in November. I can't verify that, so I don't know whether that's the case or not.

And obviously, the Chinese authorities have not admitted that. if you look at the genomics of the virus and work out its ancestry, you come to a date somewhere around the middle of November, but it could be as early September, it could be as late as as early December. Okay, so you get a range when it's likely to be the first infection of a human being. So we've got the whole of that autumn.

We've got a strange thing that there's the World Military Games in Wuhan in October, and they do an exercise, a security exercise, as to what to do if a coronavirus breaks out, which seems a slightly unusual thing to be suddenly talking about. But then you have to remember SARS was on their mind from 10 years earlier or whatever. And as for those events in September that you mentioned, the taking down of the website we'd love to see, and it never comes back up again,

September seems too early. It seems unlikely that it was likely that it was something to do with the end of one grant in the beginning of another, a review of the samples, during the leadership of the program from one group to another, moving the lab from one location to another, which we know was happening around that time. So there's quite a lot of stuff going on,

and that could explain some of the new equipment, etc. All that reviewing of samples and things could lead to an accidental exposure. And one of the things we know, because this happened with SARS three times, expected without knowing it, you know, there is no accident. in the lab. There is no drop test tube, but one of the researchers in the lab ends up infected

and doesn't know it. That's positive for this virus. Right, exactly. After September, because of something that happened then, it's possible activity in the lab that led to more information. And as I say, the Chinese authorities will not release the collected after 2016. More with Matt Ridley. The name of the book is viral. It is the story of the COVID virus. Anybody who spends lies and threatens and all that theater that goes on with some of the investigations and the congressional committees and the Rand Pauls and all that other nonsense, that's noise, Margaret. That's noise. I know what my job is. All I want to do is save people's lives. I mean, anybody who's looking at this carefully realizes that there's a distinct anti-science flavor to this. So if you're a if they get up and criticize science, nobody's going to know what they're talking about. But if they get up and really aim their bullets at Tony Fauci, well, people could recognize there's a person there. So it's easy to criticize. But they're really criticizing science because I represent science.

That's dangerous. To me, that's... Stop. Matt. Does Anthony Fauci represent science? I mean, I think honest questions are part of science. Yes, that's the key point here, is that science should be questioning, it should be skeptical, it should be prepared to probe. And, you know, I see it is perfectly legitimate for people to ask him about gain of function experiments, et cetera, et cetera. I'm not here to take sides in the U.S. political debate.

Sure, sure. Because I'm not from the U.S., and so, you know, it's not my job. And I do think that our focus should be on what happened in China. There's no question that this pandemic began in China. US funding for it was there for the research in that in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. But it wasn't the main form of funding. So it's difficult to know exactly where to come down on this. But I don't like it when any senior scientist says, I am science, trust me, from authority, then, you know, you join the church or something.

If you want an argument from evidence, then you go to science. That should be the way we should think about it. Matt Ridley, the name of the book is viral. It is out and available right now. Right. So there can't possibly be any way that this is summarizing what's in the book. Order it. Order it. See if anything comes up. Ooh, I like that. Hold on. There's a little bit more we need to know about this because there's bullet points about what's in

the book. Oh, okay. Really? What's in the book? Number one, bullet point. Uh-huh. What is included here? A detailed display of all the mind-blowing information which the author had told. Wow.

Wow. Wow. Then, well-made narration of the main points in the book presented in an understandable and pocket-friendly format. Wow. But it's only available on Kindle. Right. So, my book is also pocket-friendly. Then the next one.

An explanation of all the indirect and indirect statements made by the author to ensure a guided comprehension of the book. An adequate conclusion of the main book that actualizes a perfect hint. I don't even know what that one means. This is like computer generated garbage. Oh, and, oh, why didn't they leave with this? At the end, it says, in this summary of the book, you will find all. other details that you would find helpful. That's great.

They're not overpromising, right? Right. All other details that you would find helpful. I think this is computer generated. I really do. I think this is computer generated. And pretty length is 10 pages, by the way. I've had, what, 21 bestsellers, something like that.

I've never had this. Okay? Maybe somebody would come out and do one thing. there were seven last week and one of them with the with my cover but a fake book was ahead of my real book okay wow i'm telling you there is we are on it we are on it youtube does not want to take that off line because they don't want it to be banned to make a bigger deal out of it So they're just screwing with the algorithm so you can never find it. You never find it.

Put it behind, put it into the digital ghetto. Let them talk in the ghetto. That's the definition of a digital ghetto. With this one, why the confusion on this book? How can three people post my book with my art? work and it be up there. How's that how's that possible? How's that possible? I'm telling you, be very, very careful by the book. Of course, I'm sure. Yeah, sure. This is for the man or woman observing at this book. all of the satisfactory. This is computer generating. This is not easy. Somebody has done this with computer generation. Now, would you like to know what you say in the book?

Yeah, sure. I'd love to. Glenn Beck contends that the American way of life may not undergo the great reset and cautions us to prevent it earlier than it is beyond the factor in which it's miles viable to replace course. Wow, do I want to buy this book? This is fantastic. I want to buy this book.

I wonder if Martina's version is even better. Well, she, because I have Martina Lewis up here. You have Martina Lewis's version. In this summary, Martina Lewis captures the climax of Beck's book while making sure that the central message is not derailed from. Oh, wow. Lewis writes in a voice that could be heard by every class of readers. Well, that's not. That's a Marxist dog whistle there.

The very next city council meeting, she made a motion that our attorney specifically to look into lawsuits or pending lawsuits that we could jump in on to fight these mandates or whatnot. So she absolutely isn't, you know, by her own actions, wasn't necessarily opposed to it.

So you were on with Tucker. And I got to believe after you were on Tucker, you met a whole new group of people. Boy, did I. Yeah. It was like, wow, people, you know, and that's what's sad. Just the crop of humanity that came out and sent out voicemails and emails and whatnot. You know, the hate and the nastiness is not coming from within our community. I'm really proud of Oregon, because here in our town,

I think America is still alive and well where you can have a differing opinion and still come to the table and discuss it and come away still somewhat respecting each other. And there's others out there where if you disagree with them, then they start throwing names at you and calling you everything in the book to no longer treat you as a human, but then now treat you as some ideology that they hate. So you're a pastor. and you were living in the Bay Area. Right. You must have been mighty popular. And why did you move? Why did you move to Oroville?

That is as a Christian, you know, I firmly believe that God speaks, confirming, I call them breadcrumbs that were completely off the wall crazy and just saying things. I'm just keeping things in private and prayer. Yeah, yeah. And God just completely let us hear. And so I, so yeah, I was back in 2014 and came to a little little town and to church that was dying. I had about 30 people in it.

And they were all, you know, retired, very elderly. Yeah. Now our church is thriving and it's good. But, you know, we came, I didn't just come from the church. I really felt strongly that came here for old. And also, I believe Orville isn't a bubble for California. We're a beachhead for what I believe that God wants to do for the whole state because California is not lost by any means.

Okay. I am here to give you the benefit of the doubt. Okay. Yes. But I don't understand. of the choices you've made in this book. Okay. For example, you decided to end the book, the Great Reset, with this, and I don't understand

it. Okay. This is reading, of course, from the summary of the Great Reset by Glenn Beck. He completes his ebook, and actually it's an EE-E-Dash e-book. Oh. So is that an internal, like, publishing term of sorts? Yeah, yeah, yeah, E-E-Dash-E book. Yeah, okay.

So he completes his E-E-E-Dash e-book with a gander on the 19th. 14, Christmas Day, detente, closer to the start of the First World War. More than 100,000 squadies sent out their hands at the reducing area to play football. Percentage stories, photographs, meals, and beverages. Now, what does that have to do with the great reset? Well, I thought the photographs meaningful meals and messages. Why percentage stories? Why would 100,000 troops get together to 10?

Tell percentage stories. I thought it was important. I thought it was important. Yes, I did. Wow. So they captured my book perfectly there. Yeah, I mean, it's wonderful. I can't get enough of this.

All right. This is just, I mean, it really is interesting. Would you like another? Not really. In the interim, lower back at each certainly considered among our houses. exploitation of your customers. But it also shows, I think, that people are looking for information on this. I mean, it is, people really want to know what the Great Reset is. So scammers are looking at your book coming out and saying, let's just

you know, piggyback off that, so make some extra cash. But more importantly than that is that people know this information is out there. They know this topic is important, and they can't find it from the mainstream press. I mean, it's not, this is why the book is important, I think, and that you're actually going through and separating not only the nonsense that the mainstream media provides, but also some of the stuff that's online that isn't true about the Great Reset. And you're able to go through that and document it. So that is important.

I would say the summary is less important. Funny. And I hope when they pull this off, which they undoubtedly will. Yeah. I hope they don't rip it out of my Kindle library. Because you just bought it. Because I just bought it. I'm an owner.

No, this is the opposite of what Glenn says in the book. Well, you have to get the book to find out. There's some astonishing conclusions I found out. Yeah, I mean, I will see. One of them might be that I just have gone full-fledged communists. I mean, you want some good stats.

Notice they use the word committed. These are the data that we've collected since 2015 and 2016. We just propose retiring data on the number of allegations made against school staff to reduce the burden on data and duplication of data. Oh. Okay. All right. So they're going to do this. they are going to retire these things. Whether any of the school's students, faculty, or staff died as a result of a homicide committed at the school.

Governance says we don't need that anymore. Whether there has been at least one incident at the school that involved a shooting, don't need that anymore. We were in the car, and we were listening to the reports of, that were just coming out, that were just horrible, horrible stories. of the Christmas parade. And we knew, I mean, I knew immediately. But we're in the car and we're listening to News Report. And he's reading it to me, I think from CNN.

And I got to, he got to the end of it. And I said, okay, so what was missing in that story? And he said, what do you mean? I said, read it again. And it was about the car. And he said, hmm, who was? was driving the car? I said, yes, isn't that weird?

Go search for another story. And he's found another story. Same thing. I said, so now, why is that not in the story? He said, I don't know. And I said, because it most likely doesn't fit the narrative. We're on the narrative that Rittenhouse is an evil guy. We knew everything about him.

the minute that video was taken, we knew everything about him. But this guy, we don't. So we're in the car driving back someplace and we listen to or he reads a new updated article. And he said, they have a suspect. And I said, do they? Do we have any information? His height, his weight, male, female, anything? No, uh-uh.

20 minutes goes by. I said, what does that mean? What does that mean? And again, narrative. I said to him, check again, see if they have anything. He not only did, I can't remember the first one, it may have been Fox that released it first, where we were searching. And then he goes back and he sees what time Fox had the information and how they got the information. and went to ABC and went, Dad, they published, ABC published the same story without any of the details at the same time.

It was a study in how the media is manipulating everyone. This media is an enemy of the people, really is. It is an enemy to the republic. And it feels weird that there's not someone at like the Washington Post that just says, wait a minute, we can't say the SUV killed the people. I know. Can we, is there somebody that just steps up and says, wait a minute. I don't think so. And I think that this is a real battle going on in newsrooms where the media's always been liberal, right?

But they were, it was at least staffed by people who wanted to guard the idea of journalistic integrity. They wanted to at least say they were, they had integrity. They wanted people to believe they were covering these stories fairly. Even if they weren't, they wanted people to believe that. Now, they don't care. No. They have crossed that line. Because I really believe they've convinced themselves that they're the only ones that know the truth.

And it's too important. It's too important to play these little games of integrity and fairness and waiting for the facts to come in. This is too important. they've convinced themselves of that and I don't know that that's going away anytime soon. So the week of written house, they're not even a week past written house and all of their sins.

They're still bearing written house and then this happens and they do the exact opposite, but for the same reason.
