The Glenn Beck Program - The Book of Light and Ash / No-Go Nation | Days of Ash | Ep 7 & 8

Episode Date: September 26, 2026

In the seventh month of collapse, Sanctuary begins to change as strange moments, quiet miracles, and a rising discernment reshape the survivors who remain. As factions harden beyond the tree line, the... remnant keeps a journal of grace that spreads through the camp like a quiet fire. When Washington goes dark and the flag is lowered for the last time, America fractures into a patchwork of AI-regulated corridors, foreign-backed zones, militias, cartels, and abandoned wastelands. A No-Go Nation rises as new borders form, ideologies harden, and entire regions fall under digital surveillance and brutal rule. Starting point is 00:00:00 The Days of Ash Episode 7, The Book of Light and Ash. By the seventh month, we stopped calling it collapse. It wasn't sudden anymore. It wasn't surprising. It just was what it was. This is the way things were.
Starting point is 00:00:19 The maps had changed. The rules had changed. The weather even felt different, sharper somehow, like the wind carried judgment. But underneath it all, the cracks between the fires and the factions, something else was moving. Not louder, not stronger, just, I don't know, truer.
Starting point is 00:00:36 And the ones who could feel it weren't harmed. They were awake. There were moments in sanctuary, quiet and small, that didn't make sense by the old rules. A child lost in the woods for three days, no food, came back, laughing and full of stories. A blind man who had been silent since his wife died, stood during prayer and quoted Psalm 46 from memory, word for word.
Starting point is 00:00:59 A woman who hadn't slept since the blackout closed her eyes one night by the fire and whispered, He's here. He's here. We didn't call him miracles, at least not out loud. We just stopped asking questions and we started paying attention. Faith wasn't a sermon anymore or a building. It was how you walked, how you listened, how you stayed soft in a world that had gone so sharp. There was no stage, no offering plates, no applause, just a quiet circle under the trees, a few verses, a few tears, and silence, the kind of silence you didn't want to break.
Starting point is 00:01:43 And we read the Bible differently now. It wasn't just a book of comfort, but it was a survival manual, not for our bodies, but for our souls. There is one passage we kept returning to Isaiah 30. Repentance and rest is your salvation in quietness and trust is your strength. Not resistance, not revenge, not self-righteousness, quietness, trust. How we were learning to see things so differently now, not just danger, but people. Their eyes told the story now. You could feel it, those who carried peace and those who carried something else.
Starting point is 00:02:29 There was a man who passed through from Atlanta, said all the right things, quoted scripture, but his eyes were cold and calculating. Clara watched him for an hour and then told him gently, There is a place for you, but it's not here. He didn't argue, he just nodded, walked back into the trees without looking back. We started calling this the gift that,
Starting point is 00:02:58 knowing the way some people could look at one another and just see, not judge, not accused, just know. It wasn't magic, it wasn't pride, it was discernment. And those who had it didn't talk about it. They just prayed harder. But not all faith is the same. Some twisted, some calcified, some grew teeth. In the hills north of us, a group called itself the risen sword. had taken over an old schoolhouse.
Starting point is 00:03:32 They said they were there to restore the kingdom. They said America had been judged for its sin, and they were the instrument of cleansing. They wore crosses. They chanted verses, and they carried rifles. They executed two men they accused of sexual impurity. One of them was 16. When we heard about a Thomas, our sometimes preacher, wanted to act.
Starting point is 00:03:57 said we should warn them. We should send a letter. Clara said, Jesus never wrote letters to wolves. So we all prayed instead. Not that they'd fall, but that they'd see that someone somewhere would speak the truth to them
Starting point is 00:04:17 and live to do it again. We were really learning. Faith is not power. Faith is obedience. The Muslim family that stayed with us, Amina's family became kind of a mirror. We watched how they prayed, how they fasted, how they wept when they were alone. They didn't believe what we believed, but they honored what was sacred.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And in this world, that meant more than agreement. It meant humility. One night Amina asked if she could join our reading. She sat quietly there while we opened up Matthew 5, the sermon on the Mount. When we reached the part where Jesus said, Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. She closed her eyes and whispered,
Starting point is 00:05:06 That, I understand. No one said a word, but something passed between us, not theology, not conversion. It was recognition. That very same night, Clara said something that changed me. We were discussing whether, we were living in the end times and she sipped her tea and stared into the fire and she said,
Starting point is 00:05:36 maybe. But maybe it's not the end of the world. Maybe it's just the end of our world so he can finally build his. Wow, that stuck with me. Because if you looked at it that way, the world hadn't ended. It had just been corrected. The proud were now silent. The powerful were now scattered.
Starting point is 00:06:01 The violent ruled for now, but underneath it all in all the corners and cracks the meek were inheriting the earth. And not with armies, not with declarations, but with gardens, with prayer. With a truth that didn't need defending, just living. I began to feel it too, the promptings, the whisper in the stillness, a nudge when I was about to speak in anger, a warmth when I let somebody cry without offering a solution. It wasn't emotion, it wasn't imagination. It was him. Not shouting.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Just near. There was a moment I'll never forget. A child wandered out into our outer field. Maybe five years old? No name, no family. She wouldn't speak. Clara held her hand and began to be. and humming and softly said she's seen too much we all nodded then the girl looked up
Starting point is 00:07:12 at me and in a voice barely audible she said they had no light I asked her what she meant she pointed to her eyes and then to mine and then she whispered you do and that was all later that night I asked Claire what it all meant she said The spirit marks his own. Sometimes the children see it first. We didn't make signs, we didn't postcards, we didn't recruit, we just stayed open. And somehow they just kept coming, the tired, the kind, the ones who had been broken but not embittered. They didn't ask for leadership.
Starting point is 00:08:02 They asked for honesty, and we gave it. The word became our shield, not a weapon. a filter. If it passed through the Gospels, we could trust it. If it didn't, we left it on the ground. We watched as the world turned medieval in places, warlords, feudal zones, religious tribunals, witch burnings, yes, even those. In Eastern Europe, whole towns were ruled by prophets claiming to be Elijah reborn. In Turkey, Christian converts were executed by old neighbors, not soldiers, old neighbors. In parts of the south, churches turned into barricades full of rage and not grace. But there were the others.
Starting point is 00:08:46 In Colombia, woman opened her home to the dying, no questions, no politics. In the Congo, a tribe shared their last harvest with a traveling missionary. In Canada, a retired nurse baptized 12 people in a lake with no witnesses but God. Light, but not loud, not flashy, but a lot. unquenchable. The book of light and ash. That's why we started calling it. It wasn't a real book.
Starting point is 00:09:16 It was a journal we passed around. Each person wrote one thing in it, a moment of grace, a prompting obeyed, a kindness given or received. It became our scripture of survival, not equal to the Bible, but flowing from it,
Starting point is 00:09:33 the fruits of it, proof that the spirit, It's still moved, it still spoke, it still lit candles in the dark. Sometimes I wonder what others would think reading it 100 years from now. Would they understand, would they laugh at us? Or would they see what we saw? That the end wasn't just judgment. It was an invitation, a return to remember.
Starting point is 00:10:01 To walk again in the cool of that garden with nothing to hide. Not all made it. Some left, chose safety elsewhere or fell to despair. But those who stayed, they became something else, not revolutionaries. A remnant. We didn't sing like we used to, but we hummed. And sometimes, when the fire was just right, we lifted our voices low, raw, unrehearsed, and somehow holy. I don't know what comes next, but I know this.
Starting point is 00:10:40 if he is still speaking, if he is still marking, if he is still making all things new, then we are not lost. We have been found. You know, there's a certain kind of confidence that only parents have. You walk into a bedroom, you take one look at your kid and go, yeah, he's getting sick. You don't need a thermometer. You don't need a doctor.
Starting point is 00:11:06 You just know, right? Unfortunately, knowing they're about to get sick is the easy part. The hard part is discovering that half the town has the same bug. The pharmacy is out of the medication they need. And now you're driving all over town hoping somebody has it in stock. That's why I advise you prepare before the first cough starts. Starting point is 00:12:28 No speech, no ceremony, no warning, just a rumor passed from truck to camp to radio. Like all the truth now. Washington's dark, the capital sealed, the flag was lowered and never raised again. At first, no one really believed it. Even in collapse, people still clung to the symbols. But then the report started coming in. No federal convoys. No executive orders.
Starting point is 00:12:56 No broadcast from D.C. just silence again. And that's when the maps really started to change again. Not just new borders, new beliefs. They stopped calling them states or counties. They were now zones. Some of them were drawn by force, some by creed, and some by the absence of both. There was the free Pacific corridor backed by the Chinese logistics and global investment,
Starting point is 00:13:21 solar power, AI managed food systems, digital compliance, no God, no guns, no questions. Then the Continental Partnership Authority, formerly Oklahoma and parts of Kansas, run by a coalition of governors and constitutional officers, some legitimate, others self-declared, and law and order by fire if necessary. The UN Blue Zones in New York, Philadelphia, D.C. proper. controlled by peacekeepers, mostly Brazilian and Polish, but monitored by drones, and then by the shadows. The Strip. This was a cartel-held territory from El Paso to St. Louis, heavily armed, unaccountable, ruled at night and borderless.
Starting point is 00:14:05 The Holy Citadel of Resplendent Judgment. Somewhere in the West, some self-proclaimed prophets, execution without trial. entry by oath only. And thousands of no-go sectors. Abandoned cities, looted suburbs, failed communes. This is where you went if you didn't want to be found or if you were already lost. The United States of America, it wasn't gone.
Starting point is 00:14:36 It just wasn't here anymore. But sanctuary remained, hidden, intact, untouched. Not because we were strong or because we were. We were quiet because we refused flags. We refused ideologies. We refused to become a node in someone else's network. We belonged to no map. And so far for now, no map came looking.
Starting point is 00:15:02 Harris told me something one night while we were on watch. The wolves have stopped circling, he said. And not because we scared them off, but I think it's because they couldn't see us. There was talking the camps of something called Project Orion, a rumored AI run. coordination system housed somewhere beneath Denver, I think. Supposedly it monitored all remaining energy flows, network traffic, drone routes, and behavioral heat signatures. It didn't intervene, but once again there was that word it observed.
Starting point is 00:15:39 Some called it the ghost president. Others the shepherd of the West. Few whispered that it was anti-human altogether, but one thing was clear, where Orion looked, peacekeepers followed, and where peacekeepers followed, the gospel shrank. We heard that in one of the former churches in Ohio and Virginia sermons had to be cleared by digital filter, uploaded, scan, and assigned a speech score. If it contained certain trigger words, like salvation, judgment, kingdom, or repent, it was flagged. Flagged content meant interrogation.
Starting point is 00:16:17 Interrogation meant transfer and transfer meant silence. But in sanctuary, no cameras, no screens, no stream, just scripture and firelight, and the sound of the wind through the pine trees. Sometimes I do think God didn't hide us by power. He hid us by irrelevance, by irrelevance to the algorithms, to the hunters, to the machines that now govern the visible world. We were invisible Because we weren't data
Starting point is 00:16:51 A boy came to us from Texas 12, thin carrying a radio and a pistol with no bullets Said his town had become a patrolled sector Enforced by the Republic of Sons It was a military run by four families With old grudges and new firepower They banned books, they banned meetings
Starting point is 00:17:12 They banned hope Said his father had tried to read from Psalms at dinner the next morning he was gone. The boy didn't cry when he told his story. He cried when Clara handed him a plate of food and said, you're safe. Because in this world, those words are rarer than bread. He didn't have a leader of sanctuary.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Only stewards, a circle, a balance, decisions by consensus, correction by scripture, no coercion, no title, only responsibilities. Thomas still preached, but his fire had softened. Clara's steadiness wore on him like water against stone. One night after prayer he said, I used to think God wanted warriors. Now I think he wants gardeners. The same week, someone placed a black flag at the edge of our property.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Again, no word's just a symbol. A spiral around a sword. We didn't touch it. We prayed. we watched. We waited. It was gone by morning. Replaced by a small bundle of herbs and a note. You were seen and passed by. We burned the note. We kept the herbs. The cities, they just kept fracturing. New York became an open-air index of ideologies. Manhattan was civil district number one, internationally controlled and AI regulated. Brooklyn was anarchist.
Starting point is 00:18:48 The Bronx, cartel occupied. Queens declared independence under a community board made up of poets and teachers and ex-NGO managers. That one lasted about three weeks. Then it went gray. No more words from Queens. Someone on the Ham Network said, Because America is now a skin stretched over 13 corpses. And no one disagreed with that.
Starting point is 00:19:19 The gospel spread slowly now. When it wasn't in tents or revivals or broadcast, it was in whispers, in acts, and in sudden moments of beauty. A child singing, Be thou my vision, while planting beans. A former atheist fixing an elder's roof in the rain, no questions asked. A woman writing scripture on the walls with charcoal, one verse per town as she traveled. There weren't any missionaries anymore, only witnesses. and the word returned not with power but with presence, and heart softened hands open, evil flinched,
Starting point is 00:19:57 but not from gunfire, from conviction. I remember watching a man break down after hearing Luke 15, you know the story of the prodigal son. He was a warlord's enforcer at one point. He buried people with his own hands, but when he heard that story, he wept and wept and wept, not because he was told he was guilty, but because he was told that he was wanted. That's when I understood the no-go nation?
Starting point is 00:20:28 I was a lie because there was nowhere he wouldn't go. Not everybody saw it. Some still built their bunkers, their ideologies, their empires, but others, they built altars, small, quiet, unseen by the world, but burning all the same. Darkness taken home, sorrow fills my soul. We don't really know what's coming. Some say the sky will burn.
Starting point is 00:21:07 Some say a new king will rise. Some say the machine will swallow the last of the free world. But in sanctuary, we've learned something else. The kingdom doesn't come with observation. The kingdom's already here and it's within you. We're not really sure how long we'll stay hidden. We don't know. if Orion will find us, if men with guns will come, if false shepherds will ride in under crosses
Starting point is 00:21:33 they don't deserve. But we do know this. When the time comes, we're not going to raise a fist. We will raise the light and let it speak for itself.
