Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, folks, so it is now 5.30 in the morning. I am still awake, tracking this story on Donald Trump going to war with Venezuela in the middle of the night, striking their capital city while everybody is supposed to be asleep. And Trump just put out his first statement on the strikes. And if you can even believe it, it just got even worse. And honestly, after this statement, I don't know where we go from here. I don't know what's going to happen next. I'm curious what you guys think. but we just escalated it even more so than the strikes did. So we're going to get into all of this and more. I'm going to provide you the most recent updates on what we know so far, but let's not waste any time. Let's just hear from Donald Trump, just read his statement.
Starting point is 00:00:40 It came out at 421 in the morning, and it reads, and I quote, The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicholas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement details to follow. There will be a news conference today at 11 a.m. at Marilago. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Donald J. Trump.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Wow. So we just kidnapped a president from another country. And let's be clear, Maduro is an awful human being. He is a dictator, no doubt. He's a bad guy. But we just put boots on the ground in Venezuela, American soldiers, and captured a president of another country and his wife. They're now in U.S. possession.
Starting point is 00:01:27 We have no idea what the plan is, where they're going, what they're going to do with Maduro and his wife. But that just happened. And I want to give you a reaction to this, but I do want to go into the most recent updates we have. So this is according to CBS News, who broke the story, I believe, first on it being U.S. strikes, or at least they were the ones to officially confirm it at first. They say that Maduro was captured by Army's Delta Force. It is a top special mission unit, according to a U.S. official who told CBS this. The elite army Delta force was also responsible for the 2019 mission that killed Baghdadi in 2019.
Starting point is 00:02:04 The Venezuelan defense minister has said that the military is being deployed. That's what he just said. He announced a deployment of military forces across the country in a video posted to social media early on Saturday. I actually have that video. He also said, quote, we will not negotiate, well, we will not surrender. And they will ultimately triumph against the United States. He survived the strikes. and that's what he said, not good. Seems like Americans are going to be put in harm's way.
Starting point is 00:02:29 The defense minister called for a united front of resistance in the face of the worst aggression ever against Venezuela. He said all armed forces would be deployed following Maduro's orders, but made no mention of Maduro's reported capture. Quote, they've attacked us, but they will not subdue us. He called for calm and unity and warned against anarchy and disorder, cautioning, let's not succumb to the panic the enemy seeks to instill. The defense minister also said the government had declared a state of external commotion, effectively a state of emergency. The Venezuelan vice president has also demanded proof of life for Maduro asking the United States like, hey, is he alive? And finally, he was captured with a $50 million bounty on his
Starting point is 00:03:12 head. So pretty significant stuff. As I've mentioned, this conflict, this war has already been, I mentioned this in the previous episode on the show. I gave a breakdown of the war and everything we know so far. But Democrat, Ruben Gallego, Senator from Eric. Arizona has already condemned this saying it's the second unjustified war in my lifetime. He followed it up by saying, I fought in some of the hardest battles of the Iraq war, saw my brothers die, saw civilians being caught in the crossfire, all for an unjustified war. No matter the outcome, we are in the wrong for starting this war in Venezuela. And I really just don't know what's next.
Starting point is 00:03:46 As I said, I have no idea where we go from here. And I guess my question for Trump and his supporters who are celebrating this right now, they're jumping up and down, they're very ecstatic, is what's the plan? I mean, what's the plan for Maduro? What's the plan for his wife? What are they doing with them? Where are they bringing them in the country? But what's the plan for Venezuela? I mean, there is undoubtedly a huge power vacuum in Venezuela. And I can guarantee that there are already bad groups on the ground who are looking to take advantage, looking to get into power right now, groups that hate the United States, hate everything we stand for, and would undoubtedly be worse for not us only, but of course,
Starting point is 00:04:30 the people of Venezuela as well. There's a power vacuum. And we, the United States, should know better than anybody that historically regime change has not worked. We should know that. I mean, we have some experience there in regime change backfiring in a pretty big way. So what's the plan? And what do we do about the defense? defense minister and the vice president who are still in Venezuela, who probably want some revenge. They probably want some retribution against the United States. Like, does anybody actually believe that Donald Trump went into this operation with a plan, with a course of action of like, hey, this is what we're going to do in this outcome,
Starting point is 00:05:09 that outcome? I don't think so. These strikes were reportedly authorized by Donald Trump days ago, but they hadn't been launched because of weather and because we struck Nigeria on Christmas Day. Venezuela was actually meant to be struck on Christmas Day. So they weren't launched yet, but I genuinely don't think that Donald Trump went into this with a plan of action, a plan of like, what do we do next?
Starting point is 00:05:31 So we'll see what their claim is on what we do with Maduro. But so far from what I've seen, and I think from what you've seen as well, it looks disorganized. It looks like they have no plan. And I think it's only going to get worse. I mean, if Donald Trump's plan was to, I don't know, get the bad guys out of Venezuela, with regime change, I don't think this is the way to go about it, or I certainly don't think this is going to change anything.
Starting point is 00:05:55 And the final point I want to make, which I think is the most obvious hypocrisy of all of this, is the fact that Donald Trump ran in 2024 on the idea of no more war. He said, we're not doing any more war. You will not go to war under me. If you vote for me, I will not send your daughters, your sons, anybody in your family to war. Now, in the middle of the night, less than a year into his term, in addition to all of the other military conflicts, he has done bombing people in the Caribbean, bombing Iran, whatever. In addition to all that, he's striking Venezuela and capturing their president and the president's wife. It is absolutely insane. It is insane. It's illegal. It violates so many international laws. Not that they care, but that is the truth. So I will leave the video there. I am just baffled at what we're watching right now.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I have no words and I don't know what happens next. I wish I could have that answer. I don't. But thank you so much for watching. Make sure to subscribe down below. Drop a like on the video, comment. Let me know what you think about the story. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Have an amazing rest of your day if you can. And we will certainly talk soon about this and much, much more.
