All right, so check this out.
Last night, all of the major late-night hosts had the opportunity to address Donald Trump canceling Jimmy Kimmel's show for the very first time.
And they did not disappoint.
All of these guys in their own individual styles went after Donald Trump in both a very comedic way, but also a firm way.
I think these guys understand that they might be next in Donald Trump's tirade of targeting people, comedians who make fun of him,
who mock him in his administration.
And so instead of cowering and focusing on protecting their show,
these guys are actually putting it on the line and protecting America.
And I really appreciate that.
So I want to show you the responses from some of the big guys.
Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, John Stewart.
We'll take a look at what they had to say in response to Donald Trump last night.
You're going to want to see it.
But before we get into these articles,
I want to show you the one and only Pete Buttigieg who had his own response
to what Donald Trump did with Jimmy Kimmel.
He's one of the best communicators in the Democratic Party.
So I think what he had to say is certainly worth a listen.
Take a look and we'll talk about it.
Hey, it's Pete.
It's really important to understand that the Jimmy Kimmel News is about politics.
This is about the president of the United States who doesn't like that a comedian had the freedom to make fun of him,
pressuring a corporation that had business before the government to make sure that he was taken off the air.
And there's something I want to say to any of the business leaders.
who are being dragged across one red line after the other,
who are going along with it because they think it's going to help them
or because they think it will get the Trump administration off their back.
You need to understand that this is a one-way trip,
that sooner or later, if you play this game,
you will have even less room for maneuver in the future.
They didn't stop at the law firms.
They didn't stop at the universities.
They didn't even stop with the comedians.
they are not going to stop until they have total power.
And if you try to ride this tiger as a business or organizational leader,
sooner or later it will eat you.
Yeah, I mean, that's exactly right.
And you're going to see this exact point made by Stephen Colbert later,
but you cannot give an autocrat an inch.
You can't give a dictator even a little bit of what they want
because they will continue to take and take and take
until there's nothing left to take.
And that's the moment we're in right now.
All of these universities, these businesses, these major media companies capitulating to Donald Trump,
they don't understand the fundamental rule here, which is if you give in to a dictator once,
they will make you give in again and again and again.
Donald Trump is not going to stop.
I don't understand how these guys don't see what's happening right now, but they don't.
And what Pete Buttigieg is saying here with Donald Trump targeting people whom he disagrees with,
and they disagree with him.
People who mock him is not even a secret anymore.
They're not even pretending that this is not what they're doing
because Donald Trump literally said this is what he's doing
on Air Force One yesterday,
saying that comedians, late night hosts,
are not allowed to make fun of him.
He just made the definitive statement saying,
yeah, I'm sorry, if you're on late night TV, you can't bash me.
That's what he said.
Take a look.
That's something that you'd be talking about to licensing shows.
shows and all they do is hit Trump.
I guess they haven't had a kill.
Did you just hear that?
He said, they're licensed.
They're not allowed to do that.
When you have a network and you have evening shows
and all they do is hit Trump, they're licensed.
They're not allowed to do that.
Again, Donald Trump is not hiding it.
He's telling us the playbook.
He's showing us what the play is, what play he's running.
And it's if you're a comedian, if you're somebody that mocks Donald Trump,
if you're somebody that goes after him, publicly dissents,
he will target you.
And that's exactly what these big hosts were saying last night,
the Stephen Colbert, the Fallons, the John Stewart.
And I want to go back to Pete Buttigieg's point of you can't give the autocrat an inch.
That's exactly what Stephen Colbert said in his monologue last night.
With an autocrat, you can't give an inch.
Stephen Colbert came to the defense of fellow late night host Jimmy Kimmel on Thursdays,
the late show on CBS using his monologue to blast ABC executives for indefinitely suspending the show
after, of course, the Trump administration floated action against the network.
And here's the exact quote from Colbert.
Shortly after Carr made his statements about ABC, Kimmel gets yanked off the air.
This decision comes after senior executives at ABC, Disney, and affiliates convened emergency
meetings during which multiple execs felt that Kimmel had not actually said anything over
the line, but that the threat of the Trump administration's retaliation loomed.
The late show shared a clip from the host monologue in the hours'
before airing the full episode.
As one source at ABC put it,
they were pissing themselves all day, said Colbert.
On the bright side, that proves Disney is number one in streaming,
which Colbert acknowledged the joke when he was giving his monologue.
He continued,
Carr was quick to reassure everyone posting,
while this may be an unprecedented decision,
it's important for broadcasters to push back on Disney programming
that they determine falls short of community values.
Well, you know what?
my community values are buster freedom of speech to which he got a huge applause for cnbc which was on site
for the taping at the ed sullivan theater colbert called the kimball decision blatant censorship and added
with an autocrat you cannot give an inch jimmy i stand with you and your staff 100% unfortunately
i can't show you the monologue because of copyright rules but if you get the opportunity you should
absolutely go watch it especially especially colbert as i thought he was absolutely fantastic as uh
He always does.
Now I want to show you what Jimmy Fallon had to say.
The headline says, you know, Jimmy Fallon breaks silence on Kimmel.
I hope he comes back.
First on late-nighter, Jimmy Fallon is set to address the Kimmel's suspension.
According to attendees at this afternoon's taping, the host opened the show with several jokes about ABC's suspension of Kimmel before turning serious.
Quote, to be honest with you all, I don't know what's going on.
No one does, but I do know Jimmy Kimmel.
He is a decent, funny, and loving guy, and I hope he comes back.
He then went on to perform a bit with a setup about carrying on with his monologue, just like I normally would,
but with the punchlines of his jokes about Donald Trump replaced by an announcer to make them inoffensive.
And this is also a kind of theme that John Stewart took in his address of what Jimmy Kimmel has gone through in the past couple of days.
According to variety, John Stewart unveils a Trump-compliant Daily show after ABC polls Kimmel.
The First Amendment is now determined by niceness to the president, which I thought was a funny comment.
From Comedy Central, it's the all-new government-approved Daily Show with your patriotically obedient host, John Stewart.
That's how the show began, as Stewart, who normally only hosts on Monday, actually stepped in last night for a special episode to address the Kimmel News.
It continues.
That's per the logline on Thursday's Daily Show episode, quote, a humble obedient John Stewart keeps praise upon him.
America's glorious leader Donald J. Trump and provides an FCC-approved refresher on the rules of free
speech in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel's suspension. Stuart joked that he had no idea who this Johnny
Dribble live ABC character is, but read between the lines on his true thoughts, as he satirically
noted later in the show, our great administration has laid out very clear rules on free speech.
Now some naysayers might argue that his administration's speech concerns are merely a cynical
ploy, a thin gruel of ruse, a smokescreen to obscure an unprecedented consolidation of power
and unitary intimidation, principleless, and coldly antithetical to any experiment in a constitutional
republic of governance. Some people would say it, not me, though. I think it's great. So you can see
the approach that Stewart took, which I really appreciated as well. And as I mentioned, while all this
was going on and all of these hosts were bashing Donald Trump and issuing their very amazing
responses, Donald Trump was too busy being racist on truth social. I mean, what a surprise. He posted
about a tweet from Libs of TikTok of eight people being charged in massive Medicaid fraud, which resulted in
$8.4 million in stolen Medicaid buildings, billings, excuse me, and Donald Trump posted,
does Ilhan Omar know any of these people? Are they from her wonderfully managed home country
of Somalia? Donald Trump continuing to be a total piece of crap, but what's new with Donald Trump? I mean,
what he was doing while he was getting bash. And this is exactly why he wants to come after these hosts,
because they come after him in such a creative and effective way, certainly far smarter than Donald
Trump can do to them. So instead of, you know, trying to match his opposition, he just takes them
off the air. He is a cheater. He's a fraud. He's a wannabe dictator. Let's say it like it is.
So anyway, I just wanted to show you all of these different late night hosts and their response to
the Kimmel News. I hope you enjoyed. Let me know in the comments which one you liked the most.
