Starting point is 00:00:00 Folks, this is one of the most important stories of the year, and I don't say that lightly. It is not about Donald Trump doing something stupid, which he normally does. It is not about the Republicans being awful, which of course they are. But instead, it's about the information that is being pumped out to the American people and how it's being pumped out and how it's convincing many of straight up lies. Just check this out. A new report from Semaphore, an exclusive paid actors, AI writing, how a new kind of video business has cashed in on American.
Starting point is 00:00:30 America's divided politics. And to give you a quick breakdown before we get into the specifics, there's like a group of right-wing Republican YouTubers who are fake. They are not real. They're real people, but they're actors reading an AI script, getting paid to make those videos. And in these AI scripts, they're lying about Democratic politicians like Gavin Newsom, AOC, Zoron, Mamdani, and more. And the people behind it are making a bunch of money. They're making money by lying to the American people and we're going to expose it on the show today. So let's get into this article. Let's talk about it. I really, really think this is important as we move forward into 26 and of course 2028. And let's dive in. It is crazy. So William, a middle-aged man in a blue
Starting point is 00:01:12 short-sleeved button-down shirt whose YouTube videos have more than 14 million views look straight into the camera at his kitchen table in August and read a script about New York City's mayor. His video, and this is the title, Mayor Mom Donnie panics as Taylor Swift triggers a 2.3 billion dollar celebrity exodus quickly racked up more than 474,000 views. Omar, a shaggy bearded creator who claimed to be based in New York, read a report to viewers in June about AOC and her ex. The title was, AOC freaks out as Riley Roberts caught running her entire operation set to ominous music, got more than 250,000 views.
Starting point is 00:01:51 The same music played on a video, Socialist Seattle Mayor Cries as a beloved bookstore closes from a channel called Julian News Reports. It also registered a quarter of a million views. To the casual YouTube viewer, these would look like unconnected videos from political news creators outraged by events that are happening in Democrat cities. The reality is more complicated.
Starting point is 00:02:12 William and Omar are actors. Semaphore found in a forensic accounting of their channel's origins. They were reading formulaic repetitive scripts that appear to be generated or aided by large AI models. Over the last several months, a new generation of YouTube growth hackers have flooded American politics with sensationalized,
Starting point is 00:02:31 a low-quality content reaching millions of viewers with nearly identical videos taking aim at progressive politicians, including Mamdani, Governor Newsom, J.B. Pritzker. Notably, while the videos are presented as lay people giving straight-to-camera ideological news recaps, they feature actors and spokespeople paid small amounts of money to read nearly identical scripts laced with misleading claims and outright falsehoods. So that's a pretty big deal and a pretty big bombshell on the new space as it stands. New media is growing. We're doing new media right here, right? I am not, you know, I don't work for CNN or MS Now or any major media organization. This is just me on the channel. So this is new media. New media is growing and it's a good thing, but it's also being utilized by Republicans on the right,
Starting point is 00:03:17 on Donald Trump's side to spread misinformation and make a bunch of money doing it. And they are not telling the people that are watching that they are AI or that they're actors or anything like that. They're just trying to make it seem like, oh, I'm an average person who's pissed off, but that is not the case. So if you see a video from a Republican creator on YouTube, maybe it makes you second guess what you're actually watching. Viewers either didn't notice or didn't mind a single network of interconnected videos that are affiliated with a growth hacking company whose founder promises to be the strongest alternative to paid ads garnered well over 45 million views and 90,000 comments on YouTube as
Starting point is 00:03:54 well as millions more impressions across social platforms like TikTok also racked up. Here's a video breaking this down, which I think you need to see. It's really well done. And it is pretty terrifying. As somebody who is in this space, who's been doing this for six years, I'm 23 now. I started when I was 17. I just, I can't believe how the Republican media conglomerate on the right has evolved into something like this.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Just watch. These are paid actors with fake YouTube channels and fake names with AI generated websites and blog posts to make them look like real political commentators. We found about a dozen of these channels run by one content automation company who learned that targeting Mandani, Newsom, AOC, Bernie, most liberal politicians would get them views and money, so they hired paid spokespeople from websites like Fiverr and backstage to read their weirdly automated scripts. YouTube's algorithm was manipulated by... Two and five Canadians will hear the words, you have cancer. That's why every step and dollar raised matters. On September 19th, joined 1,000. Starting point is 00:05:13 A group that regularly post the wrong personas on the wrong channels have link trees and website links that go to the wrong personas. They even expose their private internal dashboard with their channel's internal YouTube analytics. They vibe-coded it, didn't authenticate it, and they accidentally search engine optimized it, so it showed up on Google Search. My company tracks AI content, and these channels use so much AI that they popped up even though the videos are real. They hammer specific politicians so much that we thought it was a super pack. But no, they actually briefly experimented with an anti-Trump persona. That just didn't perform well. It's probably scarier that this isn't purely politically motivated.
Starting point is 00:05:49 It turns out if you optimize and automate for political engagement, this is just what performs on YouTube. And paying actors to read the scripts is more effective than AI generating the videos to read them because they're less likely to be taken down. And it's harder to figure out that these are ghost creators than it is to spot AI-generated characters. The full reports on our website and we worked on a parallel investigation with some of fours Max Taney. Check them both out because this was a wild project. Yeah, that's terrible.
Starting point is 00:06:15 This is what works on the Republican side. And the interesting thing is on the left, it doesn't work. Like people have tried the AI slop content, the content that is either fully AI, like a fake person altogether, or content that's entirely written by AI, like a full AI script. Every word they're reading is AI. It's never worked on the left. And we actually have a case study on this. We talked about this on the show a long time ago. But there was a scammer who was based in Asia, a medical student, who created fake AI personas of different.
Starting point is 00:06:48 political supporting people, all young women, right, to try to entice older men to follow them along. He did this. He did it for both the left and the right, just to make money. It was not an experiment. He just did it to make money to pay his bills. For the Democrats, it didn't work. Nobody was following these AI-generated women who, you know, falling for that stuff and, like, being enticed by them, if you know what I mean. But on the Republican side, that's where he made his money, making thousands of dollars
Starting point is 00:07:15 selling this fake AI persona to a bunch of older men. The scammer used an AI-generated Maga-Girl to grift super dumb men, as he put it. A med student says he's made thousands of dollars, selling photos, and videos of a young conservative woman he created using generative tools. He's not alone. This is an ongoing thing. And actually, these accounts are everywhere on a variety of different social media platforms. So, for example, this is an account that follows me.
Starting point is 00:07:41 You can see it right there. It says follow back up there. That means they follow me on Twitter. I will not be following them back. But this is a fake AI account. This is obviously not a real photo, and it's talking about the Somali community in Minnesota, parroting the talking points from Donald Trump and his administration,
Starting point is 00:07:57 saying Somali community in Minnesota is now demanding reparations over ICE trauma, me, and it's an AI photo of a fake woman giving a middle finger. And the Republicans in the comments seem to believe that it's real. This person saying, send them dogs in bacon. Fuck you. Just putting it out there. Me too, this person saying. What about this person?
Starting point is 00:08:16 Can the Somalis do anything more to prove they need to be deported? They all think it's real. Like they're falling for it. It is so concerning how these people are falling for straight up AI. And it's also on TikTok. For example, this is a fake account. It's called Maga Batties. It's once again a young woman that they're creating to make it seem like she's Maga.
Starting point is 00:08:36 The caption is them, you still support Trump, me, tell your therapist, I said yes. And then she gives the middle finger. And then there's other ones on Instagram. I can't play the video because there's copyrighted music in the back. But of course, this is a fake woman who is like maybe trying to stand in Las Vegas, it looks like. Maybe. I mean, they couldn't even spell Vegas right. Vegas is not even spelled correctly.
Starting point is 00:08:59 It's a completely fake AI video. Isn't it funny how hundreds of men can come? It's a completely fake AI video, not a real person. And it's getting thousands and thousands of followers. And you know what? it's actually being done by the president of the United States as well. He's obsessed with AI posting this AI slop every single day. We talked about this on the channel as well, this army of geese with the Trump haircut who were defending Lake Ontario, which Trump calls like America,
Starting point is 00:09:26 with a bunch of AR-15s. And he posted it online and thought it was great. And Trump has even been accused of using AI in his announcements. So this is a speech to the nation that Donald Trump made last year in September, September 10th. And people pointed out in the video that some weird stuff is going on. It looks like his pinky disappears. Look at this right here. On this right hand, on his left hand. Look, look at the pinky.
Starting point is 00:09:53 Like, where, what is, what is that? Where did that? Like, it like folds up. I don't know what the hell is going on there, but people have made accusations of them using AI and even using AI and policy. Remember Donald Trump's Liberation Day tariffs where he put all these different, extremely high tariffs on different countries. Well, Destiny, a liberal political streamer,
Starting point is 00:10:15 it believes that they use chatGBT to calculate the tariffs from other countries, which is why the tariffs make absolutely no sense. They're simply dividing the trade deficit we have with a country, with our imports from that country, or using 10% whichever is greater. And he's showing that he got chatGBT to produce the exact same formula that it seems like the Trump administration used. So this is super concerning.
Starting point is 00:10:38 This is super concerning that there is like, like this group of AI paid actor creators on YouTube and other platforms who are convincing Americans that they're real and people are buying into it. Now, of course, this is really mainly a problem on the right. People on the Republican side really buy into this stuff. But I do think it's concerning that this is the state of play with content. You know what I mean? Of political commentary on the right. On the left, I haven't seen any of this. Maybe it is out there. I'm sure it is. I'm sure there's bad actors out there who are producing like strictly AI content, AI scripts, all that stuff. I'm sure that there's people out there who are doing that.
Starting point is 00:11:14 But it just seems to be a major, major problem on the right. So look, I will leave the video there. Thank you so much for watching. Don't worry. This is, this is real. My fingers aren't disappearing. This is not AI scripted or anything. This is a real, a real person on the other end. Man, it's weird. Man, it's weird. I will leave it there.
