All right, folks, check this out.
A United States Senator just revealed what the Trump administration said in a closed door briefing yesterday on Iran.
And I think it's abundantly clear to everybody that both Trump and the people around him have no idea what they're doing.
They have no idea what's next.
They have no plan for Iran, no idea on how to get out of this war.
It is a disaster.
And what Senator Chris Murphy, a Democrat from Connecticut, revealed in this thread of text he put out on social media,
really should concern every single American. I mean, the level of incompetence that we are witnessing
is unimaginable, yet it is our reality. So we're going to get into this. We're going to talk about
what Chris Murphy revealed in this thread. Before I do any of that, though, please make sure to

Goes an incredibly long way. Without further ado, let's talk about it. So first and foremost, we have to
start here, kind of the miscalculation from the Trump regime on how Iran was going to respond to
their attacks. This is what Chris Murphy is referencing in his thread. This is something that he
touches on, how they were just woefully unprepared, still unprepared, even though we're in the
midst of this war. This is from the New York Times, how Trump and his advisors miscalculated Iran's
response to the war. In the lead up to the U.S. Israeli attack, Donald Trump downplayed the risks
to the energy markets as a short-term concern that should not overshadow the mission to
decapitate the Iranian regime.
On February 18th, as Donald Trump weighed whether to launch military attacks on Iran, Chris Wright,
the energy secretary, told an interviewer, he was not concerned that the looming war
might disrupt oil supplies in the Middle East and wreck havoc in energy markets.
Even during the Israeli and U.S. strikes against Iran last June, Wright said that there had been
little disruption in the markets.
Quote, oil prices blipped up and then went back down, he said,
some of Trump's advisors shared similar views in private dismissing warnings that the second time
around Iran might wage economic warfare by closing shipping lanes carrying roughly 20% of the
world's oil supply. That is in reference, of course, to the Strait of Hormuz. And that paragraph
makes me sick in my stomach. I mean, you know, these advisors were dismissing warnings that if we
decided to take out a country's leader, that they might not just engage in military warfare,
also economic warfare. And the Strait of Hormuz, which is largely controlled by Iran, they border it,
they just didn't consider that that might be shut down and there might be disruptions to global
shipping lanes. I'm not joking when I said the level of incompetence is stunning. This is insane.
It makes me once again remember the days of the Biden administration, where we had competent
people in positions of power, very important positions of power, and you could sleep well at night
knowing that if something like this were to arise, they would have a plan.
They would know what's next.
They would have the ability, the intelligence to deal with it, not here.
The extent of that miscalculation was laid bare in recent days as Iran threatened to fire
at commercial oil tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the strategic choke point
through which all ships must pass on their way out of the Persian Gulf.
In response to the Iranian threats, commercial shipping has come to a standstill.
Oil prices have spiked, and the Trump admin has scrambled to find ways to tamp down an economic
crisis that has triggered higher gasoline prices for Americans.
We're watching the gas prices tick up.
Donald Trump calls it short-term pain for long-term gain.
I don't think that's something that the American people are really going to buy into.
I mean, this is the guy who said he's going to eliminate inflation.
He's going to lower all prices on day one.
And now he's saying, well, you know, you just have to suck it up for a little bit.
Not a winning message.
The episode is emblematic of how much Trump and his advisors misjudge how Iran would
respond to a conflict that the government in Tehran sees as an existential
threat. Iran has responded far more aggressively than it did during last June's 12-day war,
firing barrages of missiles and drones at U.S. military bases, cities and Arab nations across
the Middle East, and on Israeli population centers. U.S. officials have had to adjust plans
on the fly from hastily ordering the evacuation of embassies to developing policy proposals
to reduce gas prices. Well, that's always great, right? You know, senior officials in our
government making decisions on the fly.
plans on the fly. Good. That gives me a lot of confidence. Some military advisors did warn before the war
that Iran could launch an aggressive campaign in response and would view the U.S. attack as a threat
to its existence. But other advisors remain confident that if we took out their senior leadership,
it would lead to more pragmatic leaders. When Trump was briefed about the risk that oil prices
could rise in the event of a war, he acknowledged the possibility, but downplayed it as a short-term
concern that should not overshadow the mission to decapitate the Iranian regime. So once again,
this idea of short-term pain for long-term gain is what Donald Trump is saying, except this war is
seemingly going to take a very long time. I mean, we are now discussing troops on the ground
in the Middle East. Donald Trump talks about, you know, the war is basically over. Then Pete Hagecept
turns around and says it's just beginning. Ted Cruz is saying it's just beginning. It's all over the
place. And that brings us to what Chris Murphy is saying. We're talking about underestimating Iran
and Chris Murphy, the senator from Connecticut, talks about that in this thread saying,
I was in a two-hour briefing today on the Iran war. All the briefings are closed because Trump can't
defend this war in public. That's definitely the case. I obviously can't disclose classified info,
but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are. Here's what I can share.
And he starts by saying, maybe the lead is that the war goals do not involve destroying Iran's
nuclear weapons program. This is surprising since Trump says over and over that this is a key goal.
But then, of course, we already know air strikes can't wipe out their nuclear material.
We know this. And yet Donald Trump and Marco Rubio and Pete Hexeth have been going around saying
this is the main goal. But now they're telling senators behind the scenes that this is actually
not one of their main goals. We have Lindsey Graham on Fox News every single night saying this war must
go on forever because we have to take out their nuclear program. That is not what Donald Trump's
plan is. So what's the plan? What's the purpose of the war? I just, you know, oh man. Second,
Chris Murphy says, they confirmed regime change is also not on the list. So we took out the
leader, but it's not regime change. Okay. So they are going to spend hundreds of billions of your
taxpayer dollars, get a whole bunch of Americans killed and a hardline regime, probably a more
anti-American hardline regime will still be in charge.
Master negotiator, Donald Trump, right?
Art of the deal right here.
What a conclusion by Donald Trump.
He has the whole thing figured out,
except it's all backfiring on him in real time,
and they are telling senators a complete different message
than what they're telling the American people in public.
Art of the deal, everybody.
Art of the deal.
Wonderful.
Just great.
Okay, so what are the goals?
It seems primarily destroying lots of missiles and boats and drone factories,
but the question that stumped them,
what happens when you stop bombing and they restart production?
A pretty common sense question.
A rational follow-up, you might say.
They hinted at more bombing.
Oh, great.
That's what we call a forever war.
When you're just in a cycle of bombing and bombing and bombing,
that's a forever war.
That's not a week-long operation or a four-to-five-week operation,
as Donald Trump said.
That doesn't mean you're ahead of the timeline, as Donald Trump said.
That's a forever war.
I mean, you know, I just, but seriously, this question stumped them.
That's how incompetent.
This question stumped them.
And finally, he says, and on the straight of Hormuz, they had no plan, no plan.
I can't go into more detail about how Iran gums up the straight, but suffice it to say right now,
they don't know how to get it safely back open, which is unforgivable because this part of
the disaster was 100% foreseeable, which makes this article that we just read even more
maddening. I mean, we just talked about how
these advisors in the
right here, these advisors
in the Trump administration
didn't anticipate that this
would be the case.
Oh, man.
Oh, man. That's great.
Just wonderful. And Donald Trump
yesterday also talking about
how, according to some American
intel, they,
Iran is considering putting out mines
in the Hormuz straight to blow up ships
that go through it. He says, we have no
reports of them doing so. We want them removed immediately if they are. And then he says if they
continue to do that, they'll be bombed. And then later that night or that afternoon, he says,
they've destroyed mine laying boats. So they're not doing it, but he's destroying the boats that
are doing it. Great. Incompetence across the board, ladies, gents, boys and girls. It is, you know,
oh man, I can't believe we're living in these times. I will leave the video there. I really
just wanted to show you what Senator Chris Murphy is saying. There were, of course, other representatives
in this meeting who said similar things.
There are others who are very quiet today,
some Republicans who might be a little shocked
about what they heard.
But anyway, I will leave the video there.
Thank you so much for watching.
