Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, folks, since it is Sunday, I thought we'd start the day with a more humorous video, poking fun at Donald Trump. Because last night, SNL tore in to Donald Trump for his cover-up of the Epstein files, the fully redacted pages that he released, expecting that to satisfy the American people. And they did it in such a hilarious way. I love the way that SNL covers Trump. It's even funnier because we all know that it bothers him. He's attacked SNL in the past. And of course, he's attacked all the late-night hosts and late-night shows recently.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Myers, everybody Donald Trump has gone after. And I think you'll enjoy this video. I have some clips from the cold open to show you. Of course, I can't show the entire thing. I'd highly recommend you watch it in its entirety from them. It is so hilarious. But let's laugh a little bit, shall we, and all the bleakness that feels, it surrounds us all the time. So make sure to subscribe down below, drop a like on the video, comment.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Let me know what you think about this story. and I said this in a video yesterday, but please let me know if there's anything I can do to make the show more enjoyable for you. I love the honesty. I love the feedback and you guys are so smart and so insightful and I always appreciate it. But without further ado, let's laugh a little bit, shall we? So S&L Savage Trump's blackout Epstein Files dump in cold open. Saturday Night Live began its final show of the year by poking fun at the Trump administration's disastrous release of the Epstein Files. The Department of Justice released the latest batch of documents, related to Epstein on Friday, including more they actually released yesterday, but you probably
Starting point is 00:01:33 didn't see it in the news because the files they released were a whole bunch of nothing. There were a lot of redactions or files that didn't say anything insignificant, or excuse me, didn't say anything significant. They didn't tell us anything important. They were just more files, kind of filler files, you might describe them as. This dump also included fully blacked out pages of redactions, which we've all seen. House Oversight Committee Chief Robert Garcia alleged the department violated the Epstein Transparency Act by withholding so much. Not only did they violate it in that way,
Starting point is 00:02:01 but they also didn't release all the documents by the deadline. And I know that we talked about it on the show as well that Rokana, Thomas Massey, the two behind the bill, they are actively drafting up articles of impeachment for Pam Bondi. Quote, we released all the files and I came out looking, frankly very good, said SNL's Trump played once again by cast member James Austin Jones. And they showed this photo, Trump speaking alone for an address for the entire cold open, showed viewers some joke pages from the Epstein files. One page featured every word blacked out from the page except Trump didn't do nothing bad. We had to redact a few sensitive things, but you'll get the gist here, Trump said.
Starting point is 00:02:41 I just think it's so funny. He showed another joke page of the files in which the few non-censored words read, Trump does smash, but not like the wrong kind. See, it's all there, said Trump. And I do want to show you the clip from that. And I just got such a kick out of it. I think you will too. Have a watch.
Starting point is 00:02:58 You had to redact a few sensitive things, but you'll get the gist here. Look at this. Check it out. Trump didn't do nothing bad. Trump does smash, but not like wrong kind. See, it's all there. Can you believe it? So he glars you.
Starting point is 00:03:23 He plays Trump so well. and I just, it's all there. You know, Clay's closed, basically, case close. The cold open also, and I'm going to show you a clip of this as well, tore into the real Trump for trying to force the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts to change its name to the Trump Kennedy Center. I'm sure you also saw those horrific photographs where it now says Trump's name on the Kennedy Center. It is so gross.
Starting point is 00:03:50 He already changed the signage on the building, but the name would require congressional approval to be made official. Yet again, Donald Trump. Trump breaking the law. The law says that the board that Donald Trump appointed cannot vote on the name changes, but he did it anyway. I'm actually going to be renaming a number of other monuments as well. Trump said the Trump Washington Monument, the Trump Lincoln Memorial, showing photos of both. Trump's final name change was to the statute. Sorry. The Statue of Liberty, big elphaba. He named in reference Elfaba from the Wiccan movies. That's just one for fun. Third one's always the funny one. You know, people are saying, sir, why are you putting your name on so many buildings? and I say it's because we had to take it off so many files. As L Trump explained, we had so many Trumps in there, we had to put them somewhere. Exactly right. Let's take a look at that clip as well.
Starting point is 00:04:38 We'll be renaming a number of our other monuments as well. Trump Washington Monument. Trump Lincoln Memorial. And of course, Big Elphaba. That one's just for fun. The third one's always not. the funny one. You know, people are saying, sir, why are you putting your name on so many buildings? And I say, it's because we had to take it off of so many files. Epstein, redacted. We had so many
Starting point is 00:05:11 drums in there. We had to put them somewhere. You know what I'm saying? We like to say redacted. It's my second favorite R word redacted. I love it. Come on, man. Come on. So, yeah, that's the segment that was last night. I don't know if we'll see an angry truth social post from Donald Trump. I don't know if he's in the position to be ranting about anything. And I hope that the first question Donald Trump receives when he runs into a journalist next is, you know, why did you delete the files? What do you think about the files? Just something related to the files, please, from the journalists out there, please, I beg. And of course, this is not the first time that SNL has gone after Donald Trump. I hope it won't be the last. Just last week, they wrote in the SNL did a segment on,
Starting point is 00:05:55 drunk drug addled S&L Donald Trump thirsts over Levitt's lips. Because for some reason, Donald Trump consistently compliments Caroline Levitt's lips. It's incredibly gross, incredibly inappropriate, and SNL also poked fun at it. I'll give you a brief rundown if you hadn't seen it. Saturday Night Live, ripped into Trump's frequent comments about his press secretary, Caroline Levitt. James Austin Johnson returned as Trump with cast member Ashley Padilla returning as Levitt. In reference to the real life Trump's public thirsting over Levitt,
Starting point is 00:06:25 Johnson's Trump told reporters, oh, how great is Caroline Levitt? We love you. She's got a beautiful face and those lips don't quit. Ugh. Pretty amazing that I could just openly simp over my young, blonde subordinate, Trump said. It's giving Michigan football coach. Oh, man. Trump, who explained earlier that he'd just taken both an Ambien and an Adderall, asked the camera to zoom in on Levitt's mouth. It's one of my top mouths. I love that mouth. Look at these lips. They go, bop, bop, bop, like a machine cut just spectacular. You know, I mean, they don't hold back on Donald Trump, and that's what I very much appreciate about them.
Starting point is 00:07:01 And I also appreciate that shows like S&L, South Park, have stepped up to the plate. I mean, you know, one of the best tactics against dictators, authoritarian leaders that has been used throughout history is comedy. It is humor. They poke fun at their egos. They make them feel small. And I think that's what S&L has consistently done so well with Donald Trump. And, of course, members of his administration, their portrayal of Pete Hagsseller.
Starting point is 00:07:24 by Colin Joost or their portrayal of Stephen Miller, whoever it is, they do a really good job. And I always appreciate them. And I appreciate the many comedians who are standing up for this moment. There are some journalists who are, some journalists who aren't, but SNL has really, to my knowledge, not back down. So anyway, I will leave the video there. Just wanted to laugh a little bit. And I hope you did too. I hope you got a kick out of those clips. I certainly did when I watched them the first time. And again, I advocate that you go watch the whole thing. I don't think you'll be disappointed. But yeah, I mean, you know, I hope you're doing well. I know this is really stressful time and it's really a hard time and it is at holidays as well which adds another layer
Starting point is 00:07:57 but I'm so proud of all of you for staying in the fight and for staying informed I know it can be dull it can be hard but we're in it together and I have your back and I know you have mine so anyway I'll leave the video there thank you so much make sure to subscribe down below drop a like comment you know the whole thing by now have an amazing rest of your day and we will talk soon
