Starting point is 00:00:00 Well, folks, Donald Trump is now begging other countries for their help in his war against Iran. Because quite frankly, things are just not going to plan for Donald Trump with this conflict. He's now begging war-torn countries that he has personally insulted for their assistance. And this comes after Donald Trump, when asked how he would rate the war in Iran on a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of how well it's going. He said 15. He said 15. It's going great. couldn't be going better. It's perfect. Well, Donald Trump is now begging countries for their help because things are not going perfectly. So let's get into this article. Let's talk about it. This is from the Daily Beast. Trump begs war-torn country, again, a country that he's berated for help on Iran. Donald Trump is
Starting point is 00:00:45 apparently turning to war-ravaged Ukraine for help in his surprise attack on Iran. Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelensky said in his nightly address Wednesday that the United States, along with other allied countries is seeking Kyiv's assistance in defending against Iranian drones. Quote, this is what Zelensky said word for word. Partners are turning to us to Ukraine, asking for help in defending against Iranian drones with expertise and real operational experience. There have also been requests from the American side. And I just think this is so ironic.
Starting point is 00:01:16 I mean, Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, the Trump administration, they've done everything they can to bully Zelensky, bully Ukraine, bully the people of Ukraine. They've basically demanded that Ukraine adhere to Russia's demands for a peace deal, which would just give Russia a bunch of land, a bunch of power, a bunch of leverage, and the ability in the future to invade Ukraine again. So Donald Trump has treated Ukraine like crap. And now he's turning around saying, hey, I hope you guys can forget about that. Let's, you know, maybe assist with fighting Iran. Interesting. The problem is, though, is that Trump's request could lead to a dire shortage of U.S. air defense missiles in Ukraine at,
Starting point is 00:01:54 a moment when Ukraine's war effort has stretched into its fourth year. Two European diplomats told Reuters, there is mounting concern that Ukraine will become increasingly vulnerable as Trump drags on his bombardment of Iran. And this is something that's not getting a lot of attention. Donald Trump either knowingly or unknowingly is playing into Putin's hand again. I mean, he's taking resource. A lot of American resources are focused on Iran. And we're now asking Ukraine for their missiles, their resources, which only makes them weaker. and gives Russia an opportunity to strike. Obviously, Donald Trump is not thinking about this.
Starting point is 00:02:29 I truly believe to this day that Donald Trump could not point to Ukraine on a map if you asked him if his life dependent on it, but this is an indirect result of what Trump is doing in Iran and it's not getting the coverage it deserves. The appeal also comes as Trump has Presolinsky and Ukrainian officials to strike a peace deal with Vladimir Putin, who Donald Trump has famously praised for quite some time. So Trump turning to Ukraine for assistance. Interesting. But also, there's another layer here. There's been reporting that the United States is running out of munitions, that there is deep concern among the Pentagon that we're going to run out of ammo in the Middle East.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And so Donald Trump has tried to quam those fears. The other day he put out this statement saying, the United States munitions stockpile have at the medium and upper medium grade never been higher or better. As was stated to me today, we have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. Wars can be fought forever and very successfully using just these supplies, which are better than other countries' finest arms. So first and foremost, him talking about fighting wars forever. Not exactly encouraging, but Donald Trump here is saying that we have an unlimited supply
Starting point is 00:03:39 of munitions while simultaneously going to Ukraine and asking for their munitions, asking for their assistance in shooting down Iranian drones. Kind of contradictory, don't you think? Not exactly surprising. Donald Trump lying about something like this. I know. Shocker. But, I mean, interesting.
Starting point is 00:03:57 The hypocrisy is astounding. The lies are astounding from Donald Trump. He just keeps putting out this misinformation, this disinformation, I should say, to justify what he's doing in Iran, justify a longer war, not just a couple-day operation, a longer war, and he's getting called out for it. I mean, the hypocrisy is right in front of our faces. The lies are right in front of our faces.
Starting point is 00:04:17 and Donald Trump is contradicting himself. But on top of this, the war as a whole, aside from what Donald Trump is doing in terms of begging Ukraine, is not going well. We have thousands of Americans, over a million actually, in the region, in the Middle East, who are stranded. They have no way to get home. CBS, actually, CBS surprisingly, spoke to some Americans who are stuck. And they write, as the U.S. Department of State urges Americans to leave 14 countries across the Middle East amid the widening war with Iran, some Americans are voicing frustration with a lack of help from their government. Sasha Hoffman, an American who lives in Chicago and was vacationing in Dubai when the U.S.
Starting point is 00:04:54 Israeli military action began, initially thought she'd be able to wait out the fighting. But after hearing Donald Trump say Operation Epic Fury could last four to five weeks, her thinking changed. Quote, we're honestly trapped, she told CBS News on Tuesday. Quote, it's really frustrating that right now the U.S. is saying Americans come home when, in reality, we can't come home. We've had flights booked today, tomorrow, all of them are canceled. All of the airspace is closed through tomorrow night. Now, if you're in the United Arab Emirates, she said she understands the need to prioritize safety, but then you can't tell us to get out and create no zone where we can all leave on commercial flights. Pretty serious stuff. Now, more than 9,000 Americans have returned to the U.S. from the Middle East over the past several days, including more than 300 from Israel, but more than a million Americans are believed to be in the region. and so far Donald Trump hasn't provided any coherent plan on how we're going to get these Americans back.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Again, despite Donald Trump saying everything that's going perfectly. Now let's turn to the government again. What else is going wrong in the government? Well, Pete Hegseth. This is from Dropside News. Right in the middle of the strike map, U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth probably displayed at a Pentagon briefing today, which was yesterday, sits Minab. The site of a school in southern Iran where a U.S. Israeli strike killed 165 children this weekend. This is the map that Pete Hegseth displayed, that green dot is where the school was.
Starting point is 00:06:16 And it's right in the middle of the bombing path of the United States where over 100 kids were killed. And Donald Trump, Pete Hegseth, have said nothing about it. Matter of fact, when asked about this very thing, about that school being in the middle of the strike map, this is what Pete Hegseth had to say. Tie right there. You got a tie on. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Come back to the BBC. Can you give us an update on what the administration knows, what you're going to say. you know now about the reported strike on a girls' school in southern Iran on Saturday? All I know, all I can say is that we're investigating that. We, of course, never target civilian targets, but we're taking a look in investigating that. Red tie in front. Just on the basis that with the information you would have, your reconnaissance abilities, ability to gather information, I mean, it's several days on now. So is there any clarity on whose munition this was? We're investigating it. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:07:11 We're investigating it, says Pete Hegseth, even though, even though this school with all these children sits right in the map, the middle of it, that Pete Hegseth proudly displayed at this press conference. So we're bombing schools, apparently, maybe. I mean, we're investigating, have no conclusion there. But the fact that Pete Hegseth is unwilling to talk about this and then it's been many days since this happened makes me a little nervous on if this was an American munition that struck this school. but Pete Hegseth doesn't want to talk about it. How about another clip from yesterday's press conference where Pete Hegseth was essentially attacking the media for talking about the American soldiers,
Starting point is 00:07:50 the six American lives who have been taken, killed in the Middle East in this war, and he was attacking them for covering it and saying that they're just trying to take down Donald Trump. Watch. This is what the fake news misses. We've taken control of Iran's airspace and waterways without boots on the ground.
Starting point is 00:08:10 We control their fate. But when a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it's front page news. I get it. The press only wants to make the president look bad, but try for once to report the reality. The terms of this war will be set by us at every step. The reality is that Americans were killed. And I guess Pete Hegseth doesn't like media outlets covering it. And what's even worse about this clip is it's not like Pete Hegseth was.
Starting point is 00:08:40 was in the middle of a paragraph and he misspoke or something along those lines and later corrected himself. He's reading a statement. So he read this statement. It was approved via the chain of command. And they thought, yeah, that's great. Yeah, the media is, when they talk about Americans who have been killed serving this country, they're just trying to take down Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:08:58 It's not because there's concern about the Americans who were killed. It's all because they're trying to take down Donald Trump. It is a cult within our government. And they are tone deaf, completely out of touch. with what Americans are worried about. They think that Americans are talking about dead Americans, dead American soldiers, because we hate Trump? No, it's because we're concerned about the American troops
Starting point is 00:09:20 who were killed as a result of Donald Trump's incompetence. This guy's such, oh, God, I hate Pete Heggseth. He's terrible. And there was a moment of shock, silence, that struck the room when Pete Hegsteth said this. This is from the Atlantic. My colleague Nancy Yusef was at the Pentagon this morning sitting just three rows from the podium.
Starting point is 00:09:38 I asked her what the atmosphere was like after Hegseff's heartless remark, she told me that his comments sent a stunned silence through the briefing room. Even members of Hegset's staff seemed to flinch at what he was saying. Quote, some put their heads down, she said, while others just looked around. Someone in the room then said, that was one of the most insulting things I've ever heard, quietly but audibly, and as far as Nancy could tell, to no one in particular. Interesting. So Hegset, just ignoring the American soldiers who have been killed, lambasting the media for talking about it, they have no, and answer on terms of this school. We can't get Americans out of the Middle East because there are no
Starting point is 00:10:14 jets and Donald Trump just kind of struck Iran with no plan on getting these Americans out of the Middle East. And the final thing I want to show you is that Donald Trump's allies can't even settle on whether they think this is a war or not. This is Senator Mullen, a Republican, was asked, hey, is this a war and this was his answer. You'll concede this is war. We haven't declared war. They declared war on us, but we haven't declared. We haven't declared just now. You said, this is war. They called it war. What I was saying, okay, well, that was it misspoke. What I was saying, they've declared war on us, but war is ugly.
Starting point is 00:10:47 It always has been ugly. But we're, you know, we're at a, we're taking out a regime that's been trying to attack us for quite some time. But you're not. So Mark Wayne Mullen, Senator, just called it a war, then said it's not a war. Then when asked about Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump calling it a war, he says we haven't declared war. They can't even make up their minds. They have no idea what they're doing. This is a disaster.
Starting point is 00:11:11 So regardless of what Donald Trump says, he's going out there saying, oh, everything's great, the war is perfect, we're doing so well. I think some signs point to a different reality. And, you know, him begging Ukraine, which is a war-torn country in it of itself, is probably one of those signs.
