We are witnessing one of the most brazen attacks on the First Amendment in modern American history
coming from Donald Trump.
ABC just announced that they are indefinitely taking Jimmy Kimmel's show off the air
over comments he made about Charlie Kirk.
And it was, as I'll show you in this video, essentially a request from Donald Trump for them to do it.
They bent the knee again.
Unsurprisingly, these big media companies are failing us.
and they do it time and time again.
That's why independent media here, what we're doing is so important
because people like ABC, these folks at ABC who are terrified of Donald Trump,
they will not fight for us.
They will not.
So before we do that, I do want to say, make sure to subscribe to the channel,
drop a like and comment on this video.
Independent media is more important than ever.
But I want to dive in.
This is an article from the New York Times that kind of lays it all out.
And the article is still being updated.
It happened moments ago.
but ABC announced on Wednesday evening that it was pulling Jimmy Kimmel's late night show indefinitely after
criticisms of comments he made on Monday about the motives of the man who was accused of shooting Charlie Kirk.
Brendan Carr, the Federal Communications Commission chair, sharply criticized Kimmel's comments on a podcast
earlier on Wednesday, which we'll talk about as well.
Next star, an owner of many local stations throughout the United States, said shortly before ABC's
announcement that it was pre-empting episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live for the Fasci
future, essentially taking him off the air as well. And Nexstar actually made their statement
before ABC. It's one of the largest affiliates of ABC, and this is a statement they put out about it.
It's also one of the largest US TV station owners in America. So them pulling Jimmy Kimmel's
show is pretty significant. They said, quote, Mr. Kimmel's comments about the death of Mr. Kirk
are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse. And we do not
believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which
we are located. Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve
is simply not in the public interest, really, at the current time. And we have made the difficult
decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the
resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue. Now, I'm going to show you the comments that
Jimmy Kimmel made right here in just a moment. But before I do that, I also want to point out
this story about the FCC chair, Brendan Carr. So we know that ABC pulled Jimmy Kimmel. We know
the next star did. But the interesting thing is that Donald Trump essentially made this request.
And let's just be honest about it. Trump's FCC chair appeared earlier today, today on Benny Johnson's
show and threatened to revoke ABC and Disney's broadcast licenses if they didn't take action against
Kimmel. The Trump administration made a request. ABC and Disney heard it and they bent the knee.
That's exactly what happened here. It is so insane what we are witnessing, this attack on the
First Amendment. But I'm going to play Kimmel's comments, and you can tell me what you think
about them in the comments below. You can tell me if you think that these comments are offensive
enough to be taken off of the air. We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga Gang
desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything.
other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.
In between the finger pointing, there was grieving. On Friday, the White House flew the flags
at half staff, which got some criticism. But on a human level, you can see how hard the president
is taking this.
I condolences on the law to your friend, Charlie Kirk. May I ask, sir, personally, how are you
holding up over the last day and a half, sir? I think very good. And by the way, right there,
you see all the trucks? They've just started construction of the new ballroom for the White House.
house, which is something they've been trying to get, as you know, for about 150 years,
and it's going to be a beauty.
Yes.
He's at the fourth stage of grief, construction.
Yeah, so those are the comments that Jimmy Kimmel has been taken off the air indefinitely for.
And I said in a separate video I posted on Instagram and things like that, that if Jimmy Kimmel
made a factual error in what he was saying, insinuating that he was mag or something like that,
he can correct it. That's no problem. But to take his show off the air indefinitely, that's an
attack on the First Amendment. Comedians should be able to make fun of politicians and not face
retribution for their comedy. But that's exactly what happened right here. And by the way,
the Republicans were saying, let's bring back mean tweets. Let's bring back offensive jokes.
Let's bring back making fun of people. So now people are making fun of people and they're being
taken off of the air because of it. It's absolutely insane.
what we are witnessing. And I want to show you a couple of reactions to the news surrounding Jimmy Kimmel.
Let's start with Brendan Carr, shall we? The man who went on Benny Johnson's podcast and said,
hey, you got to take the Jimmy Kimmel show off the air or we're going to punish you.
He, just minutes after Next Star put out their statement about Kimmel said, I want to thank them for doing the right thing.
I mean, this is corruption in broad daylight. He's thanking them for taking the guy off the air who he told them to take off the air.
Does it get more corrupt than that?
I mean, it's happening right in front of our faces.
And here's another one from Brian Stelter, a journalist.
He asked FCC chair, Brendan Carr, if he had any new comment about ABC pulling Jimmy Kimmel's show after Nextstar did.
And he sent him this gif.
People celebrating.
It is so disgusting what this administration is doing.
They told everybody they were warriors for the First Amendment.
And now they are celebrating somebody being taken off the air.
And let's just be clear that this is something that Donald Trump has been planning for quite some time.
Back over the summer, he said Jimmy Kimmel is next after Stephen Colbert was taken off of the air as well.
So Donald Trump has been clearly planning this for quite some time.
I imagine that he is very happy right now.
Here's another one from Gavin Newsom, buying and controlling media platforms, firing commentators, canceling shows.
These aren't coincidences.
It's coordinated and it's dangerous.
The GOP does not believe in free speech.
They are censoring you in real time, and that is exactly right.
That is what's happening right in front of our faces.
And if you're not concerned about it, which I imagine many MAGA fans in the comments are typing, ha, ha, ha, ha, they are delusional.
Because an attack on the First Amendment is not just an attack on people like me.
Democrats like myself and you at home.
It's an attack on everybody.
It's an attack on everybody.
I mean, it's insane.
I just can't, I can't believe it.
Ari Cohen, who's counseled the fire org, which is a free speech organization, they basically
fight for free speech in court and public, they put out a statement saying, the government
pressured ABC and ABC caved. They caved again. The timing of ABC's decision on the heels of FCC
chairman's pledge to the network to do this the easy way or the hard way tells the whole story,
another media outlet withered under government pressure, ensuring that the administration will
continue to extort an exact retribution on broadcasters and publishers.
who criticize it. We cannot be a country where late-night talk show hosts serve at the pleasure of the
president. Yes, but until institutions grow a backbone and learn to resist government pressure,
that is the country we are. This paragraph right here I thought was phenomenal, and so I had to show it.
And this cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel's show caps a week where Trump and his administration
have made it very clear that they plan to crack down on free speech. I mean, just take a look at this
clip of Donald Trump the other day threatening an Australian reporter who asked him about his business
activity. Take a look.
Said he's an appropriate president in office should be engaged in so much business activity.
Well, I'm really not. My kids are running the business. I'm here. You know what, the activity,
where are you from? I'm from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation for Corners program.
The Australians, you're hurting Australia right. In my opinion, you are hurting Australia very much
right now. And they want to get along with me. You know, your, your leader is coming over to see me
very soon. I'm going to tell them about you. You set a very bad tone. Go ahead, John. So he's threatening
a reporter for asking about his business activity, saying that he's going to tell the Australian
leader about them, essentially asking for the Australian leader to punish them for asking the
president of the United States a question. I want to be abundantly clear. We're at a turning point in
the United States. That's where we are right now. This is a pivotal moment in our history where the
president, his administration, the Department of Justice, the FBI, the FCC, and all of these
other three-letter agencies are being abused and used to silence critics, silence people who
disagree with Donald Trump. They frame themselves as free speech warriors, but in reality,
they're only free speech warriors for speech they like. If it's my speech, your speech, your
friend's speech or family speech and it's critical of Trump, then they don't consider that free speech.
They consider that illegal. And that's what Pam Bondi said, that if you engage in hate speech,
which is entirely protected under the First Amendment, they're coming after you.
I need people to be aware and I need people to tune in because this is incredibly serious.
So look, I will leave the video there. I just had to bring you all of this as soon as I could.
