Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, look, I'm going to be clear. I'm going to give it to you straight because this is incredibly important, and it's something that we all need to be aware about. The Trump administration is using the Charlie Kirk shooting to crack down on people's rights. And they're not even trying to hide it. They are using this as the launching pad to go after people who dissent, people who publicly disagree with the Trump administration, people who use their First Amendment right to the freedom of speech to publicly voice,
Starting point is 00:00:30 their opposition to what Donald Trump is trying to do. Pam Bondi literally said that in a new podcast episode where she said if you engage in quote unquote hate speech, they will come after you. They will prosecute you and they will not hold back. I'm going to show you this clip in a minute of her on this podcast episode and then later we're going to look at another clip of Pam Bondi in a Fox News appearance saying that if businesses refuse to help people honor Charlie Kirk, they will be prosecuted too. They are just throwing around handcuffs apparently in the wake of this tragic shooting, this shooting that has really rocked the United States. So let's start with this first clip, which is one of the most outrageous things I've ever seen somebody in the legal profession say.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Before I do so, make sure to subscribe to the channel, drop a like on the video, comment, let me know what you think about this story. And without further ado, let's hear from Pam Bondi, who apparently just didn't go to major portions of law school. There's free speech and then there's hate speech. And there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society. Do you see more law enforcement going after these groups who are using hate speech and putting cuffs on people? So we show them that some action is better than no action. We will absolutely target you, go after you if you are targeting anyone with hate speech, anything.
Starting point is 00:01:58 And that's across the eye. What? What? I mean, I am stunned that this person is the Attorney General of the United States. And I really mean it. I think she skipped some significant portions of the chapter in law school that talked about the First Amendment. Whether you like it or not, whether Pam Bondi likes it or not, hate speech is entirely protected by the First Amendment. You have a right to say hateful things about somebody. Now, you can't lie about them knowingly and damage their reputation. That would be defamation. You can't incite. violence or things of that nature, but you can say hateful things about people that is entirely protected. The government cannot prosecute you if you say something hateful about somebody. I mean, this is just such a stretch of the law just to fit Donald Trump's vision of America, where if somebody disagrees with him, they now fall under this hate speech crime that they just made up and they can be prosecuted and thrown in jail. And Roe Kana, a Democratic representative, actually spoke on this saying so now
Starting point is 00:03:00 at J.D. Vance, your administration is prosecuting hate speech, even though you ran on standing for the First Amendment and lectured Europe about not censoring hate speech. Remember when J.D. Vance went over to Europe and spoke to their faces saying, you guys are too harsh on hate speech, you got to let it fly.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Now his administration is saying you're getting prosecuted for hate speech. It is hypocritical. It's a double standard. And it further proves that the Trump administration, Trump, J.D. Vance, all these people don't actually want or care about free speech. They only want or care about speech
Starting point is 00:03:32 that aligns with them. There's a difference. The Democrats actually stand for free speech. For everybody. For everybody. You have the right to say what you want to say. You know, you can be judged in the court of public opinion, but the government can't prosecute you. The Republicans do not. I mean, how much more plainly
Starting point is 00:03:48 does Pam Bondi have to say it for these maga lunatics to get it through their head? That the guy who ran on or bringing free speech back to America was lying to them. I mean, and by the way, let's just listen to the guy they're talking about, right? Pam Bondi said, you know, with everything going on with Charlie Kirk, you can't engage in hate speech, we'll come after you. Charlie Kirk, when he was alive, as recently as 24, 2024, I should say, said hate speech does not exist legally in America.
Starting point is 00:04:17 There's ugly speech, there's gross speech, there's evil speech, and all of it is protected by the First Amendment. Keep America free. And that is actually an accurate analysis of the First Amendment. hate speech is often gross, it's often disgusting, it's often abhorrent. And it is the majority of the time, but it is still protected speech. And by the way, Pam Bondy, anybody talking about Charlie Kirk in a way that you don't like is also protected by the First Amendment. And it got worse because later she doubled down on this threatening businesses who don't
Starting point is 00:04:47 allow their workers to honor Charlie Kirk with prosecution. Just take a look. It's insane. That's horrific. It's free speech, but you shouldn't be employed anywhere if you're going to say that. And employers, you have an obligation to get rid of people. You need to look at people who are saying horrible things. And they shouldn't be working with you. Businesses cannot discriminate. If you want to go in and print posters with Charlie's pictures on them for a vigil, you have to let them do that. We can prosecute you for that. I have Harmeet Dillon right now in our
Starting point is 00:05:14 civil rights unit looking at that immediately that Office Depot had done that. We're looking at that. But Sean, you know, what? So, oh wait, I'm just, she's saying that the Trump administration is actively looking at prosecuting businesses because those businesses didn't allow workers to use business facilities to engage in political activity. That's what we call the right to do business. These businesses have the absolute right to say, I'm sorry, actually, no, you cannot use business facilities to engage in political activity. You cannot print posters for a candidate, a commentator, or anything like that. That is entirely legal for businesses to do. But Pam Bondi, who again, I guess, skip significant portions of law schools getting on Fox News and saying,
Starting point is 00:06:01 we're actively looking into companies who did that. That is not a civil rights discrimination case. What is she talking about? And by the way, even Republicans, former Republicans like Joe Walsh, are on the same side here, saying for the umpteenth time, today's Republican Party does not believe in and cannot handle free speech. They cannot handle it. It is remarkable to see these guys go from, we are the free speech party to if you are a business and you don't allow people to use your business to engage in political activity, we're going to prosecute you. If you engage in hate speech or say something mean about Charlie Kirk, we're going to prosecute you.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Medi Hassan, who obviously is a very popular political commentator, mock them on Twitter saying the party of free speech in this very long all caps statement mocking, you know, all these Republicans who screamed at liberals and people like myself saying, you know, you don't guys, you guys don't care about free speech, you don't actually like it, and now they're doing this. Now they're using the power of the government. You know, they said, don't tread on me. Now they're using the power of the government to prosecute people. And J.D. Vance is doing the exact same thing. In a, when yesterday, when he was hosting the Charlie Kirk show, he said, when you see someone celebrating Charlie's murder, call their employer. Now, I've been pretty consistent on this channel and all my different social media platforms that I do not think somebody should mock Charlie Kirk's passing. They shouldn't laugh about it. It's not.
Starting point is 00:07:23 not something to joke about. But it is protected speech under the First Amendment. And I thought Republicans didn't like cancel culture. I thought they appreciated edgy humor. And when someone made a joke, they shouldn't face real life consequences for it. Now we have the vice president of the United States calling for people to be fired from their jobs for engaging in free speech. Can you imagine if Kamala Harris got up and was like, yeah, you know, X, Y, and Z should
Starting point is 00:07:47 be fired for saying something mean about me. Republicans would lose their minds. Republicans would lose their minds. They'd be calling for impeachment. And by the way, the final point I want to make in all of this is if Pam Bondi wants to prosecute hate speech and people who engage in hate speech, then maybe she should start with Donald Trump, who has been one of the most hateful people in modern American politics, certainly in politics for decades now.
Starting point is 00:08:13 So if you want to look at who might be the biggest perpetrator of hate speech in the United States of America, there's a guy named Donald Trump. Look right in front of you. Anyway, I mean, I just can't believe that this is the point we're at in the United States. And I really had to make this video as soon as I saw this clip. It's so urgent that folks know that our rights are certainly not guaranteed under this administration. Something we got to be aware about. I'll leave the video there.
Starting point is 00:08:37 Thank you so much for watching. It means the world. Make sure to subscribe to the channel down below. It goes an incredibly long way. Drop a like on the video. Comment. Let me know what you think about this story. And as I always say, I greatly appreciate you.
