Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, folks, this is pretty hilarious. I can't even lie. The Melania movie that is supposed to be released in theaters this week across the United States is flopping. And it's flopping really badly. Nobody's going to see it. You have these disaster stories coming out about it where people who worked on the movie are refusing to have their names displayed in the credits because they don't want to be associated with it. And it's looking like a total disaster. Amazon invested tens of millions of dollars into this movie. The Trump family thought it would somehow boost their needs. name after its release, and all of that is looking like a really bad decision. So we're going to get into the story. We'll talk about it a little bit. Before I do any of that, please make sure to subscribe down below, drop a like on the video, comment. Let me know what you think about this, and if you're going to see it, I'm hoping the answer is no. They don't deserve our money. And if you're on Spotify or Apple, please make sure to rate the show five stars and follow along. It goes a very long way. But let's get into it. Let's start with Jen Saki at MS now to really break down how badly it's flopping, including entire theaters having open seats to their displays
Starting point is 00:01:05 of Melania. Watch. The Washington Post has been the newspaper of Woodward and Bernstein of the Pentagon papers of heroic journalists like Jason Rezion and Jamal Khashoggi. But now it's the paper of owner Jeff Bezos, and he's trying to curry favor with Trump. He has been from day one. So the post is facing massive cuts. A big chunk of the news staff could soon be laid off, according to reports.
Starting point is 00:01:28 with sports and local news among the sections that might be axed entirely. Bezos has plenty of money to make things right, but he has some, shall we say, more important priorities, I guess. I mean, his other company, Amazon, has paid $75 million for a documentary on Melania Trump coming out this week, 40 million just for the rights and $35 million more to promote it. It's paid for things like this ad for the movie on the Las Vegas sphere. But all that money hasn't helped.
Starting point is 00:01:58 The documentary is still on track to be an absolute box office flop. Across the country, it's set currently to play to plenty of empty seats. We took a look, and it's more than half empty on opening night at some of the busiest movie theaters in the country. I mean, just we're going to pause very briefly. Look at this. Lincoln Square, New York City, a major market for movie theaters and movies to run in. Completely empty. You have, let's just count it.
Starting point is 00:02:25 We can actually count it. one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve seats in this showing. At four p.m. showing on a Friday, and the rest of them are completely open. Look at Burbank, California as well. In a smaller theater, you still have essentially an entirely open theater. Oh, it's backfiring so badly on them. I really, really just don't know why they thought this would go well, but let's continue. In New York and in L.A.
Starting point is 00:02:51 It's not just liberal America. It's mostly empty at primetime Saturday night showings at the two theaters, closest to Melania's home at Mara Lago. There you go. Americans everywhere seem to be responding to this movie by borrowing a line from Melania Trump herself, saying, I really don't care. Do you?
Starting point is 00:03:08 Oh, oh. That's how you end the segment, right there. I love that ending from Jen Socky. I don't care to you? I don't care. Who cares of her movie flops? I hope it does flop. And you're seeing stuff like this around the country.
Starting point is 00:03:22 You can see the writing. People are making their feelings. and how about this one? My husband, blanks, blanks. Yeah, you can read it for yourself. Here's another one. Melania, another Melania sign being defaced by people who are obviously not happy about this movie coming out. I don't know who would be happy. Here's another cinema in Jacksonville, another movie theater, which is completely empty. This is a 955 showing on a Friday. Look at this. It's not a single seat purchased by anybody. It is flopping so badly. And what's really funny, about it, as Jen Saki made known, is that the Amazon company, Jeff Bezos, put so much money into
Starting point is 00:04:04 this film. They put $75 million overall, but the Trumps are pocketing $28 million from Amazon. Amazon paid far more for the rights to Melania than the next highest bidder and far more than the company has previously paid for similar projects. And Jeff Bezos will certainly not be seeing a return on investment in this one, especially when you have movie theaters looking like this. But I want to go deeper on the story than just the flop. I think we all could have predicted that it was going to flop. But according to people who actually worked on the documentary, it was a nightmare. It was a disaster process. Not only because you're working with the Trump family, but the director of the movie has credible accusations of assault. And that's who
Starting point is 00:04:47 the Trump family decided to work with on this documentary. Let's get into it. Days before its premiere, things are looking rough for the Melania Trump documentary. It sounds like the film is on track to flop hard at the box office next weekend, despite Amazon's best efforts to bolster sales. I mean, they literally bought an ad on the Las Vegas sphere. And the White House is getting flack for going ahead with a glitzy private screening of the film on Saturday night as the nation was reeling from the fatal ice shooting in Minneapolis. But hey, at least they had a blast making it. My God, if you saw the showing they had at the White House, it was so gross. I mean, all of these wealthy people there dressed in expensive outfits, eating expensive
Starting point is 00:05:25 of food as Americans are suffering, mourning, the loss of a fellow American. It's just so completely out of touch. Rolling Stone has a new report on all the behind-the-scenes gossip that makes the whole process sound nightmarish. While Trump ventures often do not attract the best of what the entertainment business has to offer, these cinematographers involved in the film had surprisingly impressive resumes, and none of the sources mentioned any drama among crew members. But Rolling Stone reported that the frantic scramble to gather footage of Melania in the 20
Starting point is 00:05:54 days leading up to Donald Trump's second inauguration, presented a huge logistical issue. Quote, and this is according to somebody, or at least the Rolling Stone, it was a chaotic process that involved hiring and coordinating three separate production crews working in Florida, Washington, D.C., and New York City. Quote, people were worked really hard, really long hours, highly disorganized, very chaotic. One person who work on the set said, it wasn't easy money. Another added, it was very difficult because of the chaos that was around everything, usually for a documentary, it's like, oh, follow the subject. Well, it's Melania Trump. With the First Lady
Starting point is 00:06:28 in Secret Service, you can't just do things you normally would do. A full-time travel coordinator was brought on to deal with logistic issues that would invariably rise when, for example, members of the crew would board the Trump organization's Boeing 757 to film the First Lady on a flight and route to Mar-a-Lago and end up without a ride home. Yikes. Melania herself didn't add to the problems. Sources described her as friendly and engaged in the process. interesting, but Brett Ratner, however, was another story. The director was canceled, quote-unquote, in Hollywood following sexual harassment and misconduct allegations in 2017. While no one quoted in the Rolling Stone piece specifically raised issues, those kind of allegations, one person said they wouldn't have signed on
Starting point is 00:07:10 for the job if they knew he'd be involved. Another source said there was a lot of talk of Brett being slimy among the crew, but perhaps they meant that more literally. Ratner left the trail of detritus, discarded orange peels, gum wrappers, wherever he went on set. He did actually chew a piece of gum and throw it in a coffee cup on my cart, one said, but didn't acknowledge my existence for even one nanosecond. Another recalled a long day during which the crew wasn't allowed to break for meals and no outside food was allowed to be brought into the space where filming was taking place. Everyone was starving. Brett, unknowingly or maliciously, got his own food, went up there, was just eating it and just licking
Starting point is 00:07:45 his fingers in the grubiest way possible. Ew. Either being a dick or having no awareness whatsoever to the fact that everybody else working is working and no one's eating one person recalled. So sounds like a really stand-up guy. And I say that with the utmost sarcasm in that, it sounds like a piece of shit. And it's no surprise that Donald Trump picked this guy and the Trump family picked this guy to work on their documentary. I mean, you know, if you gave me two options, you said, which one do you think the Trump family picked? The guy that's credibly accused of sexually harassing people and it's just really rude to people on set, or a moral, director who's really qualified and can get the job done and doesn't really have any complaints.
Starting point is 00:08:24 I would always go with the former. It just fits for the Trump family. It really just does. Quote, I feel a little bit uncomfortable with the propaganda element of this. One member of the production team said, but Brett Ratner was the worst part of working on this project. And estimated two-thirds of the crew members who worked on the film in New York asked not to be credited. Another told Rolling Stone that after experiencing Trump's second term, They now wish they'd done the same. I'm much more alarmed now than I was a year ago. Sure, you could argue that these crew members should have guessed where things were going.
Starting point is 00:08:58 I would definitely argue that. But it's hard to find work in Hollywood these days. And few people would have guessed in late 2024 that the Melania documentary would also be an attempt to rehabilitate Brett Ratner because Donald Trump has a secret passion for the rush hour movies. Yikes. So people are not eating on set. They're not being allowed to go get food. You have this Brett guy who's just walking around being a total ass.
Starting point is 00:09:22 And people are so disgusted with Donald Trump and Melania Trump in the Trump regime. They're not putting their name on it. They worked hard on it. They didn't want credit. They're not putting it on their resumes. A total disaster is coming. And it looks like the movie is getting ready to flop pretty badly. So look, I will leave the video there.
Starting point is 00:09:41 This really does bring a smile to my face. I hope it brings a smile to yours as well. Make sure to subscribe down below. Drop a like on the video. Comment. let me know what you think about this story. And if you're, of course, again, on Spotify or Apple, make sure to rate the show five stars. Follow along. It goes such an incredibly long way. I appreciate you all. I love you all. Have an amazing rest of your day. And we will talk soon.
