Starting point is 00:00:00 I think it's obvious to everybody watching that Donald Trump's war against Iran is not exactly going to plan. The incompetence of this administration, this regime, I should say, is on display for not only everybody in the United States, but for the entire world to see. It's yet another lesson in why electing competent people is pretty important in American politics. And now we're just getting some more exclusive bombshell reporting that speaks exactly to that. we're learning from CNN that Donald Trump's administration underestimated Iran war's impact on the Strait of Hormuz. Matter of fact, they didn't anticipate that Iran would target this major trade hub that the United States benefits from at all. They just thought they wouldn't go near it. And I have some other updates for you on the war that we should go through. You should know about
Starting point is 00:00:49 it. It's all going very badly. Just to put it mildly, before we get into any of that, if there's one takeaway that you should have from today, from what we're about to talk about, it's all going very badly. So without further ado, let's get into it. Let's not waste any time. We'll start here with the CNN article and then talk more about just how awful things are and how it's really spiraling out of control. So the Pentagon and National Security Council significantly underestimated Iran's willingness to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to U.S. military strikes while planning the ongoing operation, which by the way, if you have like a rudimentary understanding of foreign policy. You would know that Iran obviously controls and borders the straight of four moves.
Starting point is 00:01:32 They have a lot of influence there, at least, you know, and they've historically targeted that straight. Of course they're going to close it in response to strikes from the United States. That is such a basic connection to make that these advisors, these experts in foreign policy that Donald Trump has hired just weren't able to. Trump's national security team failed to fully account for the potential consequences of what some officials have described as a worst case scenario now facing the administration. They didn't plan for worst case scenario. Great. While key officials from the Department of Energy and Treasury were present for some of the official planning meetings about the operation before it started,
Starting point is 00:02:07 the agency analysis and forecasts that would have been integral elements of the decision-making process in past administrations were secondary considerations. The guy who told us for a year straight that if we elected him, he was going to reduce prices of everything, groceries, gas, housing, all of those things would be his number one priority. And when he's thinking about bombing Iran, he's not factoring in people from the Treasury to talk about the effects of the economy. I'm telling you, incompetence on display for everybody to see. Our enemies, our allies are laughing at us. Treasury Secretary Scott Bassent and Energy Secretary Chris Wright have been key players throughout the planning and execution stages of the conflict,
Starting point is 00:02:51 but Trump's preference of leaning on a tight circle of close advisors in its national security decision-making had the effect of sidelining interagency debates over the potential economic fallout if Iran were to respond, which of course they were going to again. That's like the most logical thing to assume. And now it may be weeks before the administration's efforts to alleviate the intensifying economic fallout take hold.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Officials admitted on Thursday, including high-risk naval escorts of oil tankers through the strait that the Pentagon believes are currently too dangerous to conduct. Now, Donald Trump is also telling these very oil tankers to just suck it up and go do it, regardless of the very serious threats to their lives that is currently taking place. The reality in the strait has left diplomatic counterparts, former U.S. economic and energy officials and industry executives who spoke with CNN in a state of confusion and disbelief.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Quote, planning around preventing this exact scenario impossible as it has long seemed has been a bedrock of principle for the United States national security policy for decades, a former U.S. official who served in Republican and Democratic administration said, I'm dumbfounded. On that very point, on the Strait of Hormuz, this is from Derek Thompson citing a part of an article that says the Strait of Hormuz is a narrow strip of water between the United Arab Emirates and Iran, through which more than 20% of global oil transits, 20% of seaborne, liquefied, natural gas, 30% of seaborne fertilizer, and a growing amount of global container traffic. He says the Iran war could trigger a global economic crisis, and you won't find a better summary of why than this one sentence. Yes, this is about gas prices, but it's also about the cost of food, the cost of computer chips, the cost of green energy, the cost of moving anything anywhere, jet and container fuel, and now we're seeing the fuel for airplanes and travel generally go up pretty dramatically.
Starting point is 00:04:42 and on that point as well, according to the International Energy Agency, the Iran War is creating, and I quote, the largest supply disruption in the history of the global oil market. I just want to know, MAGA, is this the golden age? I mean, they promised us economic superiority, economic prosperity, a golden age, the likes of which we've never seen before in American history. And then a year into Donald Trump's administration, we have the largest disruption in the history of global oil markets. Great, great. And everybody in the United States is suffering.
Starting point is 00:05:22 Not Donald Trump, not the wealthy people he has in his administration, but average everyday Americans who are growing to the grocery store trying to fill up their tank, they're suffering. Yeah, absolutely. We also learned from the Financial Times that the United States has burned through years of munitions since the start of the Iran war. We've also spent in the first week, according to the Pentagon, over $11 billion with a B. Think about what that money could do for housing or homelessness or hunger, whatever topic you want to pick. Think about where that $11 billion could go. But Donald Trump thinks that money is better spent sending taxpayer-funded missiles through apartment buildings in Iran. That's where Donald Trump's head is at.
Starting point is 00:06:03 And now we've burned through years of munitions, leaving the United States week and leaving us going to other allies of ours and asking them, hey, you know, can you chip in a little bit and give us some missiles? And then on top of that as well, we now know that Donald Trump is fundraising off of dead American soldiers. This is an email he sent out to his team. Trump is now offering national security briefings to his millions of small dollar donors using a photo from his recent excursion to Dover, where he honored troops killed in his Ron War by wearing his white campaign baseball cap. So he's using a photo of him, saluting in front of dead troops in a fundraising email.
Starting point is 00:06:42 This guy, he is so gross. He's just a bad, like, he's just a bad person. That's what people have to understand that Donald Trump fundamentally in his core. There is nothing redeemable about this man. He's a bad person, whether it be the fact that he wore his baseball campaign at, at this transfer of bodies, or the fact that he's using the photo of him doing that to raise money for him, not the families, for him. He says very few spots remaining.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Claim your spot. These final spots are reserved for my strongest supporters. You're one of them. This is no ordinary membership. As a national security briefing member, you'll receive my private national security briefings, unfiltered updates on the threats facing America, says Donald Trump. And I like this response from Gavin News, I'm saying Donald Trump is fundraising off of dead soldiers.
Starting point is 00:07:29 He's a deeply sick and disgusting man. I couldn't agree more. And finally, on one other point I want to make on just the disaster that we're collectively witnessing right now. Came from San Stein. He's a journalist at the bulwark and MSNBC. And he says, just unpacking it here, Ukraine is helping us with Iranian drones, speaking to the munitions that we've burned through.
Starting point is 00:07:51 We're now running low, despite Donald Trump saying otherwise, Ukraine is helping us with Iranian drones resulting from the war we launched against Iran. And we're easing sanctions on Russia because of the oil market fallout from the war we launched against Iran. And Russia is helping Iran with medical aid. and Intel in the war we launched against Iran, and Trump is frustrated with Ukraine because it's still at war with Russia. How predictable that in all of this, Donald Trump will find a way to help his buddy Vladimir
Starting point is 00:08:22 Putin, and he will find a way to stomp on Ukraine and President Zelenskyy. Of course. Of course. This is where we're at, ladies, gents, boys and girls. A disaster where they didn't anticipate the most logical response from even. Iran. Oil prices are going up. Food prices are going up. The Strait of Hormuz is not going to be open anytime soon. We're now going to have to send U.S. ships to escort oil tankers through, which will only lead likely, unfortunately, and obviously we're not hoping for this, but perhaps more war,
Starting point is 00:08:55 as in bombing these ships and loss of life and things like that. But this is where we are. This is where the Trump administration is. This is where the war stands. It is a disaster, and it's hurting everybody in this country. So I will leave the video there. I just wanted to give you a wide-ranging update on everything we're seeing right now.
