Starting point is 00:00:00 Well, folks, Donald Trump is not happy because his prized possession, the ballroom that he's building at the White House, has been halted by a federal judge saying, uh-uh, you cannot continue with the construction until certain things are figured out. And Trump has already responded on social media with a very long rant, which we will go through in just a moment. But he is not happy because, you know, Donald Trump doesn't care about the real issues affecting Americans. He doesn't care about the economy or health care prices or the war that we are at with. He cares about his little pet projects, like the ballroom that he's building. So we're going to get into the story. We'll talk about it a little bit. So they have temporarily blocked the construction of Trump's White House ballroom, which has been rushed and is going to look awful. The judge wrote that Donald Trump is, quote, not the owner. of the White House and that unless and until Congress blesses this project,
Starting point is 00:01:04 construction has to stop. Now, that is contrary to what Donald Trump acts like on a daily basis. He thinks that the people's house is actually his house and he can just go knocking things down and building things and changing everything. And I've said on social media before, I need the 28 Democratic nominee for president to guarantee that on day one of them being in the Oval Office, if they, you know, God willing, get elected, they remove all of that crap. They tear down all the pictures, all the gold, they put back the Rose Garden. All of that has to happen on day one. That's what I need happening.
Starting point is 00:01:35 That's what I need. A federal judge in D.C. has issued an order temporarily blocking the construction and any further demolition of the East Wing. Quote, I've concluded that the National Trust is likely to succeed on the merits because no statute comes close to giving the president to the authority he claims to have, wrote U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon, an appointee of President George W. you Bush. So a Republican appointee, not a Democrat. So Donald Trump doesn't even have that excuse, although I'm sure he will claim that the judge is a liberal one day. The ruling blocks the administration from, quote, taking any action in furtherance of the physical development of the proposed ballroom at the former site of the east wing of the White House, including, but not limited to any further demolition, site preparation work, landscape alteration, excavation, foundation work, or other
Starting point is 00:02:23 construction or related work other than action strictly necessary to ensure the safety and security, of the White House and its grounds. That's a pretty wide-ranging order. And remember, this is what the East Wing looks like right now. There's been little to no progress going on at the White House with this ballroom. They've built up some of it. This is a slightly dated photo. But this is basically what it looks like in Washington, D.C. right now.
Starting point is 00:02:45 The beautiful East Wing, which I had the opportunity, and I didn't realize how lucky I was at the time. I had the opportunity to walk through multiple times. Gorgeous, a gorgeous part of the White House now gone. And this is what it looks like. Total crap. Total crap. That's what it looks like. And Trump can't do anything more. Leon paused his order from taking effect for 14 days to allow time for an appeal. The Justice Department filed a notice of appeal roughly 90 minutes after the judge issued his ruling.
Starting point is 00:03:13 Once again, I'm so glad that the Department of Justice is focused on the real issues, appealing an order, blocking Donald Trump's ballroom from being constructed. They're not going after the criminals, the bad guys out there. I mean, you know, they're letting them off as long as they donate to Donald Trump, as long as they vote for Trump, they're not doing any of that. They're, you know, spending their time, their lawyer's time, focus on this stuff. The judge issued the preliminary injunction after agreeing with the plaintiffs in the case that Trump exceeded his authority with the project. Leon wrote that the president of the United States is the steward of the White House for future generations of first families.
Starting point is 00:03:48 He is not, however, the owner. Now, that will sting for Donald Trump. Because I said, you know, he really, he believes that he owns the White House. He believes that he owns all of it, and he just does it. Leon wrote that quote, unless and until Congress blesses this project through statutory authorization, construction has to stop. And, you know, if Donald Trump loses this appeal, continues to lose this case, how much do you want to bet that Republicans take up a bill that very same day to fund this project,
Starting point is 00:04:15 to give him congressional authorization? Because they'll just do his bidding. I mean, of course they're going to do that. I mean, we shouldn't even doubt it. Congress, the judge wrote, is the collective voice of the American people in our system of government and the construction, or excuse me, and the Constitution itself vests authority over federal property, including the White House in Congress. The administration the judge noted had argued the project should not be halted in that any delay to construction would imperil
Starting point is 00:04:38 national security and expose the White House to damage. Please, the judge said, while I take seriously the government's concern regarding the safety and security of the White House grounds and the president himself, the existence of a large hole beside the White House is, of course, a problem of the president's own making. Isn't that funny? I mean, we talked about this on the show earlier today, but Donald Trump creates a problem and then claims victory on the problem or says that other people have to solve that problem that he created. It's a pretty regular thing with Donald Trump. Now, I want to show you this rant that he went on, and you can see it's a decently long rant. He said, and I quote in this truth social post, the National Trust for Historic
Starting point is 00:05:18 Preservation sues me for a ballroom that is under budget ahead of schedule being built at no cost of the taxpayer, which is not true, of course, as we know, and will be the finest building of its kind anywhere in the world. I then get sued by them over the renovation of the dilapidated and structurally unsound former Kennedy Center, now the Trump Kennedy Center, a show of bipartisan unity, which is absurd, where all I am doing is fixing, cleaning, running, and sprucing up a terribly maintained for many years building, but a building of potentially great importance. Yet the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a radical left group of lunatics whose funding was stopped by Congress in 2005
Starting point is 00:05:52 is not suing the Federal Reserve for a building which has been decimated and destroyed inside and out by, of course, Jerome Powell, who he's gone after for that very claim. The once magnificent building is billions over budget may never be completed and may never open. All of the beautiful walls inside have been ripped down, never to be built again,
Starting point is 00:06:10 but the National Trust for Historic Preservation never did anything about it, or have they sued on Governor Gavin Newsom's Railroad to nowhere in California that is billions over budget. So the White House Ballroom The Trump Kennedy Center, which are under budget ahead of schedule, will be among the most magnificent buildings of their kind anywhere in the world, gets sued by a group that was cut off by the government years ago,
Starting point is 00:06:29 but of all the many disasters in our country are left alone to die. Doesn't make much sense, does it? Donald Trump signed at the bottom, so he's really pissed off. He's really pissed off about this ballroom. As I said, he doesn't care about the real problems facing the United States. He cares about his pet projects, and this to Donald Trump is a strike at the heart of his ego. I mean, this building was a physical manifestation of his ego now connected to the White House, and it has been halted, and he really doesn't like that. And New York Times actually put out a great article recently talking about how the ballroom design has barely been scrutinized, and it's pretty nonsensical.
Starting point is 00:07:06 I mean, just look at some of this stuff. Trump's ballroom has rushed toward construction with a little time for public review of his major addition to the White House. Critics warn it still has many issues. Its portico is too big. its stairs lead to nowhere. Its columns will block views from inside the ballroom. I mean, look at this. The grand staircase does not lead inside the ballroom. You'd think that there'd be a door there, and there's not. The door is on the other side. It's right there. And that's just the portico. Look at all these different issues. Fake windows on the north side, unnecessarily big.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Columns will block the interior ballroom view. It's very tall. And the grand staircase, I just can't believe that it doesn't lead to a door. These are the kinds of details that are normally scrutinize in the design of any building so significant and in the review that public projects face in the nation's capital. But barring a judge's intervention, which thankfully has now come, the ballroom is set to move forward this week anyway. But of course, now we know that that is not the case. But just look at some of these designs. I mean, I can't believe that this is what's going to be attached to the White House. I can't believe that of all things, this is what Donald Trump is doing. So anyway, I will leave the video there. I just wanted to go over this story briefly.
Starting point is 00:08:10 You know, anytime Donald Trump is angry, I think it's probably a good thing for the United States, most of the time. But I will leave it there.
