Right now, as we speak, Donald Trump is having one of the worst nights of his second term,
and that's saying something because he and the Republicans just lost badly in the state of Florida,
which is a Republican state.
I mean, they haven't voted for a Democrat for president in a very long time since Obama.
They haven't voted for a Democratic governor in a very long time.
This is a Republican state through and through, and Donald Trump just lost there,
including in his own district, where he lives.
he will now be represented by a Democrat, which is just the cherry on top of everything.
So we're going to get into the story.
I'm going to break down everything that has happened tonight.
And before I do that, please make sure to subscribe down below, drop a like on the video, comment.
Let me know what you think about this.
Let me know if you've been watching these elections.
But let's get into it.
So there were three special elections in the state of Florida tonight.
You had some House District elections, some state Senate elections.
And unfortunately, in this one, the Democrat lost.
but to be clear, all of these districts are very, very Republican.
All of them have voted for Republicans in the past.
They voted for Donald Trump in 2024.
And so this district 51, which is Central Florida, very Republican area, voted for a Republican.
But then again, it wasn't really by that much.
It was less than 10 points in Central Florida.
So that's saying something.
But here's the most interesting race of the night.
Emily Gregory, a Democrat, has won in the Palm Beach County for the District 87 special election
for the state house seat there.
And you might know this, but that is where Marlago is located.
Donald Trump will now be represented by a Democrat in the state house.
The final election is still uncalled yet by the New York Times.
Other outlets have already called it for the Democrats.
So that is a two out of three sweep for the Democrats tonight in seats that we were all
expected to lose.
A major shift from the Republicans toward the Democrats, a couple of seats flipping to blue.
But I want to talk more about this one area.
place where Donald Trump lives, now being represented by a Democrat.
This is not a race that Donald Trump stayed out of.
Matter of fact, today, he endorsed the Republican, John Maples, saying there's a, or excuse me,
yesterday he said this.
There's a very important special election tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24th for Florida State House
District 87 in beautiful Palm Beach County.
John Maples has my complete and total endorsement.
Then he talked about how much he likes John and says to all the great patriots in Florida
State House District 87, get out.
and vote for John Maples.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
John will never let you down.
Well, unfortunately for John,
he will never have the opportunity
to let people down because he lost.
And so this is obviously a race
that Donald Trump cares very much about.
He got involved in.
He posted on social media about it,
giving this guy his complete and total endorsement,
and now he's lost in his own district.
I mean, what do you think that says
about the 2026 midterms?
Yes, it's one district in one state.
But if Donald Trump and the Republicans
can't win,
in the district that Trump lives, a district, by the way, that he won by 11 points in 2024.
What does that say about the upcoming midterms?
Probably nothing great.
And this was Chris Hayes of MS now reacting to the race.
And I love his take on it.
Just take a listen.
He received the president's, quote, complete and total endorsement.
Trump also encouraged all, quote, great patriots in the district to vote for Maples.
Well, that didn't work so well.
It seems like perhaps not as many turned out as Trump would have hoped in a district.
Again, he carried by double digits last November.
Right now we're looking at what looks like somewhere a 12, 13, 14 point swing towards Democrats since 2024.
Again, in the district that contains Marlago, where Donald Trump sent his mail-in ballot that he's been railing against for years.
And will now be represented by a Democrat in his backyard.
In his backyard.
Oh, man.
brutal for Donald Trump.
And Chris Hayes made a good point as well there in addition to this major election loss for Donald Trump and the Republicans, which is Donald Trump voted in this election by mail.
Okay.
For everybody else, he says it's fraudulent.
It's a scam.
It's the Democrats doing all this evil stuff.
Yet he votes by mail all of the time.
This is why you just cannot listen to a word that Donald Trump says.
He is the biggest liar, biggest hypocrite in politics right now.
And here is a clip from CNN tonight, just talking about the Democrats victory both this year in
26 so far in 2025 and all these different special elections around the country.
I mean, it is quite overwhelming and it's overwhelmingly bad for the Republicans.
You do not want to overstate this.
To your point, if you go through most of the 2010s, this seat was held by a Democrat.
So you don't want to overstate it.
It's not, wow, Democrats have never won here before.
However, you also don't want to understate it.
The Republican who had that seat who stepped aside when Ron DeSantis appointed him to another job,
so they had to have the special election.
He won his last election by 20 points.
Donald Trump carried this legislative district in the presidential race a couple of years ago,
and then put it in the context of everything else that is happening.
Democrats are winning local elections everywhere throughout 2025 and now throughout 2026,
and they're doing it all over the map in Ruby Red States like Florida, in Georgia,
in Mississippi, in Texas, in Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
So Democrats, clearly, the facts just speak plainly.
The math speaks plainly as day.
Democrats have huge enthusiasm behind them,
right now. And Republicans keep losing in places where just in November of 2024, they were winning
big. And so Democrats believe that they had a good year set up because it's a midterm year.
You have a Republican president. His poll numbers are down. They thought they had a good year.
And they think actually as we start to move through the early spring here, the opportunities are
getting even bigger and wider, broader, if you will. Yeah, I mean, think about it. You know,
some of the special elections we had in 2025, that was before the war with Iran. That was before
the blatant Epstein Files cover up. That was before.
the economy getting even worse, things getting more expensive, gas being $5 a gallon, $6 a gallon
and some of these gas stations around the country. All of that, all of these elections that Democrats
were already winning were before some of the main points of chaos for Donald Trump. And so you can
only imagine what the next year is going to look like for the Republicans. And I always emphasize
this. We can talk about these elections. We can say, oh, it's great. We won them. But actual people
got out and voted. They didn't just happen. It wasn't just delivered to us on a silver platter.
people got out and voted for these candidates, and that's the most important thing, getting out there and making your voice heard, casting your ballot, because Donald Trump wants nothing more than for us to get excited and not really put in the work and then, you know, lose an election that we should have won. And so shout out to everybody in this district that voted and we will all vote in the upcoming midterm elections 100%. And the last couple of pieces of data that I wanted to show you are just stunning. So in the House District 87, the electorate, meaning the people that voted,
was plus 10 for the Republicans.
The result ended up being D plus 2.4.
So more Republicans voted than Democrats, but Democrats won,
which indicates that a bunch of independents
and a bunch of Republicans voted for the Democrats.
That's how pissed off they are at Donald Trump
and the Trump administration.
And even Republicans, Donald Trump's neighbors,
deciding, hey, we're not going to vote for this anymore.
We're not going to stand by Donald Trump and this lunatic.
And this is from Zachary.
I think he's right here.
This is the key takeaway from tonight.
Democrats didn't win because of quirky special election turnout.
The electorates were still double-digit Republican and Democrats won anyway.
Like, seriously, there is so many concerning pieces of data for Donald Trump and the Republicans
in the midterms, but if you needed a better sign for how badly things are going for them
at this moment in time right now, look no further than Donald Trump losing in his own
backyard. I love the fact that he's now going to be represented by a tremendous Democrat,
a terrific Democrat in the Florida House. So anyway, shout out to Emily Gregory. Shout out to the
people that got out and voted. I will leave the video there. A humiliating defeat for Donald
Trump. I just wanted to give you a bunch of the data, talk through it, and hear from a couple
different anchors there. But wow, great night. Just a great night all around. Thank you so much for
watching. Please make sure to subscribe down below. Drop a like on the video. Comment. Let
me know what you think about all of this. And as I always say, I greatly appreciate you.
And I hope you have an amazing rest of your day.
