Starting point is 00:00:00 All right, folks, check this out. We just got a stunning report on the future of the Republican Party, and I'm pretty confident that this is something Donald Trump was not expecting to see today. It's also something that will very likely ruin his presidency in addition to all the problems and scandals that are surrounding him right now. Things just got even worse for Donald Trump, if you can even believe it. We're now learning that dozens of Republican members of Congress will be announcing their retirements in the next. couple of weeks, which does not signal confidence on behalf of the Republicans. If they were confident that they were going to win in 2026, they would stay in their seats, they would stay in power, they would reap the benefits of the office, and they'd continue to serve. But they're not. They're retiring.
Starting point is 00:00:45 They're going to work in the private sector. They're running for other office. It's about to get really bad. And then later we will cover a Republican who has announced their retirement, Marjorie Taylor Green, who dropped a bombshell in her 60 Minutes interview last night. Before we do any of that, make sure to subscribe down below, drop a like on the video, comment. Let me know what you think about this story. I'm always excited to hear from you folks at home. You're always so insightful and intelligent with your comments. But without further ado, let's get into it.
Starting point is 00:01:10 According to Punch Bull News, Leanne Caldwell, the journalist, House Republicans got everything they wanted in 2024, not just a powerful majority in their own chamber, but also control of the Senate and the presidency. Still, that governing trifecta has been less productive and more acrimonious than anyone hoped. Yeah, I think that's an understatement. The electoral high has long since worn off, replaced by stalled legislation, a capricious and vindictive White House, and the possibility of a midterm beating that could relegate them to the minority. These days, many House Republicans are wondering if their future includes another term in Congress at all.
Starting point is 00:01:46 And I do want to point out that when Democrats had a governing trifecta in the first two years of President Biden's term, we got so much done. We addressed infrastructure. sure, we address the COVID pandemic, healthcare reform, climate change investment, and more. That's just a small list. Republicans, when they have a trifecta, they get nothing done except, of course, you know, pardoning corrupt people, pardoning January 6, insurrectionists, and tax breaks for the wealthy. In fact, multiple Republican lawmakers and AIDS have told me that an exodus of House Republicans is likely in the coming weeks.
Starting point is 00:02:18 One estimate puts the number as high as 20 new announcements. So let's be clear. That does not factor in the already existing announcements like Marjorie Taylor Green, for example. That's new announcements of Republicans retiring, with most expected from members in safe Republican seats and thus unlikely to imperil the majority, the political environment or Trump could do that. And I actually disagree with this sentence because Republicans are getting clobbered, clobbered in special elections all across the country in places that they should be winning. Right. We just saw this special election in Tennessee in a Trump plus 22 district. that is now under 10 points.
Starting point is 00:02:56 That is a safe Republican district that is now under 10 points. So these Republicans who think their seats are safe might want to reconsider. So I actually disagree with that. 23 of the 39 House members who have already announced plans to retire or run for another office are Republicans. And the Democrats that are retiring are people that are either octagarians or people who have served for at least two decades, whereas a lot of Republicans are very young. 53, served 10 years, 57.
Starting point is 00:03:23 was elected in 2020 or Morgan Luttrell, who just turned 50 and is only in his second term. All these people are retiring. They know that the political winds are not blowing in their favor. Following the passage of the big ugly bill, the Republican Party has been aimless and lacking an agenda. They're fighting over health care. They can't seem to agree on an affordability message, let alone an affordability plan. That's how disorganized they are.
Starting point is 00:03:48 And many feel an increased, if familiar, lack of respect from the White House. Speaker Mike Johnson isn't helping as he hands congressional power to the president and makes the Article I branch of government even more irrelevant. And you're seeing this happen in real time. You know, these Republicans who are not only turning on Donald Trump, but also Mike Johnson, you have Marjorie Taylor Green, you have Nancy Mace, you have Anna Paulina Luna. All these people are diehard MAGA, but they're saying the Republican Party isn't doing anything. If their own party is admitting that they're not doing anything, what does that say about them? I think that's a pretty damning indictment. And I do want to show you the full list of Republicans that are leaving Congress.
Starting point is 00:04:25 And again, this is just the list as of now. This does not factor any new announcements. And let's just scroll through. We won't read every name. You can pause to read. But there are a lot of people on this list retiring, a lot of Republicans. The list goes on and on. They're running for different offices or they're just retiring outright.
Starting point is 00:04:43 And these are very winnable seats. I mean, you have Senator Tom Tillis of North Carolina. You have former Governor Roy Cooper running there. That is a very winnable seat for Democrats. You have Joni Ernst in Iowa also retiring. That's a winnable seat, I think, for Democrats. You have Representative Don Bacon and all these different Republicans who Democrats have a real shot at taking their seats. And it just goes to show you that the chaos in the Republican Party in the House of Representatives is extending.
Starting point is 00:05:09 It's not just staying there in Congress and they argue months themselves. The American people are watching them not do anything and they're going to vote accordingly. And that brings us to Marjorie Taylor Green, who of course made her announcement that she's going to retire, in part because of Donald Trump, the man she was once so loyal to is now the one forcing her out of government. And she was talking about the threats she's gotten to her following Donald Trump attacking her. And then later she reveals a private conversation she had with Donald Trump about these threats.
Starting point is 00:05:39 It gets pretty crazy. Watch. You decided not to stay in fight. You decided to give in. After President Trump called me a traitor, I got a pipe bomb. threat on my house, and then I got several direct death threats on my son. On your son? On my son.
Starting point is 00:05:59 You say the president put your life in danger. You blame him. You say he fueled a hot bed of threats against me, and that you blame him for the threats against your son. The subject line for the direct death threats on my son was his words, Marjorie, traitor, green. Those are death threats directly fueled by president. Trump. And I told him. Those are death threats directly fueled by Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Green says. And of course, she doesn't deserve these threats. Nobody in politics should have threats towards them, especially not their family. But I do want to remind everybody, anybody that feels sympathetic
Starting point is 00:06:36 for Marjorie Taylor Green broadly and is kind of saying, oh, maybe she's found the light, maybe she's come to her senses. This is the exact environment that Marjorie Taylor Green promoted for years. I mean, remember, she harassed David Hogg, a school shooting victim on the streets of Washington, D.C., saying that he was a crisis actor or something like that. She has promoted Donald Trump's hateful rhetoric that have led to threats for other people that are not her. So she finally felt the consequences of Donald Trump and she is retiring over it. And again, I want to make it clear, she does not deserve any threats.
Starting point is 00:07:08 She does not deserve that. But this is the environment that she has helped promote for many years. And she continued in this interview saying that after these death threats, she contacted both J.D. Vance, and Donald Trump himself. She said, Vance replied saying, we'll look into it. You think that's happening? I don't think so. And added that she got a response from Trump that wasn't very nice.
Starting point is 00:07:30 She said she preferred to keep the exact conversation private. But when pushed by Leslie Stahl, Green explained by saying of the messages from Trump, it was extremely unkind. The Daily Beast has reached out to the White House for comment. During the interview, Green also claimed that she has Republican colleagues who ridicule Trump Trump in private, but would be too terrified to say anything in public. Quote, I watched many of my colleagues go from making fun of him, making fun of how he talks, making fun of me constantly for supporting him to when he won their primary in 2024.
Starting point is 00:07:59 They all started, excuse my language, Leslie, kissing his ass, and decided to put on a maga hat for the first time. It was Green's first major interview since announcing she plans to retire, and I think this is a perfect embodiment of the Republican Party. He's a convicted felon who assaults women and commits an absurd amount of fraud. but he will go after you on truth social. And these Republicans are so spineless that they're more scared of a bad truth social post about them than they are about Donald Trump destroying our country in real time, destroying our democracy in real time. So they'll put on his hat and say, I love Donald Trump.
Starting point is 00:08:33 I voted for him every time I could. It is the hypocrisy of the Republican Party. And many of these Republicans who are retiring realize the problem they've put themselves in. The party is not sustainable. What they are doing is not sustainable. You either kiss the ring or you get pushed out. And a lot of these members of Congress are realizing it's no longer worth it. And I think you'll see these 20 retirements, maybe even more.
Starting point is 00:08:57 But I predict perhaps even more than 20. I don't think it's going to stop there. I'm thinking you can look at a huge group of Republicans saying, I'm not doing this anymore and getting out of government. So look, a real crisis for Donald Trump and the GOP, and I'll keep you updated on all of it. But it's a bad news for Donald Trump as 2026 looks increasingly bad for them. So look, I will leave the video there.
