All right, let's talk about it.
This is the story that Republicans have been nonstop discussing for the past week straight.
This alleged fraud that's apparently taking place in Minnesota by Somali immigrants,
but the problem for Republicans is that they're lying about a lot of it.
They're spreading disinformation.
And now Donald Trump is using that disinformation to send federal authorities into Minnesota,
surging resources into the state.
Now, let me preface this video by saying, we all condemn fraud.
All fraud is bad.
I don't care who's committing it.
If you're doing it, you should be prosecuted.
No problem.
Republicans, on the other hand, only care about fraud when it's convenient.
They care about this story because they can attack Democrats and Tim Walls, but Donald Trump,
one of the most prolific fraudsters in American history, whether it be his charities,
his university, his business, his organizations, his properties, his taxes, his loans
from banks, a bunch of fraud.
That has been litigated in court, but Republicans didn't care about it.
So we will talk about this.
we will debunk a lot of their claims.
But before I do any of that, make sure to subscribe down below, drop a like on the video, comment.
Let me know what you think about the story.
And without further ado, let's get into it.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security say they are surging resources into Minnesota
to investigate allegations of fraud there, including at child care centers in the latest show of federal force in the state,
home to the country's largest Somali population, which probably has something to do with it.
There's fraud all over the country that can be investigated.
But Donald Trump is picking this area in particular.
I wonder why. The investigation comes weeks after ICE launched operations in the Minneapolis-St. Paul
area to specifically target undocumented Somali immigrants precipitated by revelations about widespread
fraud against the state as well as Donald Trump's comments that he doesn't want them in the
country. The stepped-up effort also comes just days after YouTube content creator Nick Shirley,
who has created anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim videos in the past, posted a viral video in which he
claim to find widespread fraud at Somali run child care centers. The video, which includes
limited evidence, that's putting it nicely, limited for the creator's allegations, has received
more than 2 million views on YouTube and has been retweeted by people like J.D. Vance and Elon Musk.
The problem with the video, though, is that it does lack any evidence of fraud. He is going to
these different daycare centers, and he's either going when they're closed, or he's not being
let into some of these centers because he has a crew with him and a bunch of cameras. Why?
would they be led in to a center to film children? And maybe there's fraud being committed by
these centers, maybe, but let's investigate it. Let's not become, let's not create a political
issue out of it. And it has been investigated in the past. Joe Biden's Department of Justice
had prosecuted a lot of people committing fraud in Minnesota. This has also been extensively
covered by media stretching all the way back to 2014. Fraud in the state, not just daycare centers,
but fraud in the state has been prosecuted, looked into since 2014 and Republican
are pretending as if this is a new revelation or people just suddenly started committing fraud in
the state of Minnesota. Now, here's the other case I'm talking about, Joe Biden prosecuting them.
Most of the outrage regarding allegations of fraud in the Somali community has focused on
feeding our future. A non-profit prosecutor say falsely claimed to be providing meals to needy children
during the COVID-19 pandemic. Federal charges were brought against dozens of people, the vast
majority of them, Somali, beginning in 2022. A raft of state audits into lax oversight.
of Minnesota funds was dismissed by Wals, who of course was the former VP candidate.
This came amid allegations that the Somali community's strong support for Democrats
helped shield them from scrutiny, which hasn't played out because a lot of people have
been prosecuted. An early investigation by the Minnesota Department of Education into
alleged fraud by feeding our future was stimied in part by a lawsuit filed by the organization
and its founder, Amy Bok, who is not Somali. So the leader of this group that committed
a bunch of fraud in Minnesota is actually not Somali. She's a white woman and Magas focused on
the Somali community. Again, any fraud is bad, but the energy they put at certain places is
insane. Bach was later convicted of seven federal charges, including bribery. She has not been
sentenced yet, but a judge denied her request for a new trial. And now let's get into some other
fact-checking videos that have been posted. For example, CBS News, now run by Barry Weiss, a conservative
posted a fact check today of the video by Nick Shirley, which has inspired a lot of this,
and they talk about the lack of evidence.
They talk about the fact that none of this is proven.
Watch.
According to federal prosecutors, it was really during COVID that fraudsters set up these
fake restaurants or sham businesses and health clinics that would provide things like
meals to school children or behavioral health services or housing to people with addiction.
And because during COVID, you didn't have the same checks and balances,
He had social distancing.
You couldn't have the site visits.
You couldn't have the in-person inspections.
Well, the fraudsters got away with it all and provided the receipts and collected boatloads
of cash from us, the taxpayers.
More than 90 people have been charged in the schemes, mostly Somalis, and more than 60 people
have been convicted.
Now you have this viral video getting traction online.
It's from influencer Nick Shirley.
And he visited several days.
Somali owned daycares in the Twin Cities and basically accused them of doing the same thing.
Running these sham operations where kids didn't show up but still billed the federal government
and collected millions of dollars in Medicaid funds.
We visited those sites too, as did state inspectors many times over the last six months.
And we found the facts on the ground tell a different story.
Those daycares, many of them were written up for safety violations.
things like maybe busted equipment or staff training issues, but that's not the same as being fraudulent.
So it's important to put all of this into context.
Granted, fraud is indisputably an issue in Minnesota, and next year, it's going to turn up the heat
continuously on state officials, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walls, who's running for
reelection.
And there are 14 programs, Medicaid-funded programs.
that are currently under investigation by state and federal government, but child care is not
one of them. Again, this is something we're going to keep following well into next year.
You heard him. Child care is not one of the programs that is under investigation. And undoubtedly,
there have been fraud issues in Minnesota. They're fraud issues in plenty of states around the
country, no doubt. But the idea that this journalist, this 23-year-old who went in there with a camera
and uncovered this $100 million fraud scheme all by himself with no evidence just by looking into windows and doors of different fraud centers is nonsense.
And even CBS, conservative run CBS now is saying that.
That should say something I feel.
And watch this.
This is from Fox News earlier today where somebody completely fact-checked all of the Republican hosts saying, oh, it's Biden that did this,
that the Democrats that did this.
And she says not so fast.
Look.
Well, I looked at what he could be doing.
And I looked at what he is doing.
One of the things that ties his hands is this very legislature that is trying to get him to resign.
Interesting, they're not asking for a recall.
So when they say the people of Minnesota don't want him, we'll put it to a recall and let the people of Minnesota decide.
Todd, love you?
Google.
If you Google, actually, local Minnesota news outlets have been reporting on this for years.
Speaking of years, during the Biden administration, there were 59 people convicted so far.
The ringleader is not Somalian.
she's a white woman named Amy Block.
She was found guilty on all seven counts that were brought against her.
So there are people that are already in prison.
And remember, some of these are not DHS or federal-related facilities.
Some of these facilities were closed down for other reasons, not even fraud.
But back to your question about Tim Walz.
He asked the legislature in his state to give him more authority so that he could do more.
And they said no.
One, two, he also has closed it.
a number of these centers already, and not just a fraud. They were investigating them for everything
else. One, for example, on that video that went out, not the one from years ago, the one just
recently. They were already closed because they were a bad daycare center. There was no fraud.
They were just not doing a job with daycare. He hired outside firms to audit the payments to
these organizations. He shut down the housing stabilization entirely, that department entirely.
He has hired an overseer for this specifically, and he continues to try and get more.
Or, you know, and I don't think, honestly, I don't think he should resign.
I think he's going to resign.
But I do think it's political.
And Republicans say it's not.
One, it's Republicans asking for him to resign.
And two, he's less than a year from re-election.
And this is definitely going to put a ding in a chink in his arm.
I mean, the facts speak for themselves.
Republicans don't like that, but the facts speak for themselves.
Tim Walls has tried to get more authority to be able to shut down these centers,
to go after bad guys who are committing fraud or any, not just centers, but anywhere that's committing fraud.
And the legislator said, no, they don't want him to have more power.
And now we're here and all the Republicans are blaming him and none of the Republicans
care about Donald Trump's fraud, but whatever.
And I do want to finally highlight just again, the matter we talked about earlier,
this Feeding Our Future, this is the official announcement press release from the
Department of Justice in 2022 announcing 47 people had been charged for fraud in connection
to this Feeding Our Future fraud scheme in their $250 million scheme.
This was done under Joe Biden.
So every talking point that Republicans have come up with about this, that it's happening
at all these centers, that this video did it, that Tim Walls is doing nothing, that it's been
overlooked by Democrats and all of this nonsense.
Everything we just watched is false.
Fraud should be prosecuted, but the idea that this is not political and Republicans all
of a sudden just care about fraud is total nonsense.
So look, I will leave the video there.
I'm of course going to track this story further, but make sure to subscribe down
below, drop a like on the video, comment, let me know what you think about everything. And as I
always say, I greatly appreciate you, and I hope you have an amazing rest of your day.
