Greg Kosel, 41 years NFL films joining us in a few minutes to break down the Super Bowl.
Russell's here today.
We'll be stopping by.
Joy Taylor's joining me, Joy Howard Things.
Great.
Very excited for Sunday.
Are you going to watch it with a bunch of people or are?
No.
Same here.
COVID, so.
But I don't really enjoy watching the Super Bowl with a lot of people.
I hate sports bars.
I like sports bars.
I miss sports.
I miss bars a lot.
I like lounges.
Lounges are definitely better.
But I'm a dive bar girl.
So you like dive bars?
Yeah.
I like very...
I mean, I like lounges also, but like I do miss a nice dive bar where, like, the floor's a little sticky.
Yeah.
Like, there's the same guy that's in there every single day.
You like those places?
They have a lot of those
Rupplements.
Like rural Florida's got those.
Well, I grew up in Pittsburgh.
So like there's not that I grew up going to bars, but like.
But that's what you like.
My aunt's owned a biker bar and like, you know, it's in my blood.
Your aunt owned a biker bar.
The hell.
There's so many things about you that are fascinating.
You know, I keep the stories.
Keep stories close to the chest.
That's funny.
That's funny.
We'll talk about it another time.
God, we will.
That's fantastic.
So I saw this story this morning.
Greg Doyle's a writer, a very good sports writer in Indianapolis,
for the Indianapolis star.
And he was talking about the Colts quarterback search
and how he's disgusted with this story about Andrew Luck
coming from a friend of a friend and a text and a guy.
He's like, it's disgusting.
And I don't know what's going to happen.
Maybe it's Matt Ryan.
He was just disgusted with the whole thing.
And let me just say this about Andrew Luck.
I've got, I loved Andrew Luck.
I loved him.
I take pride in the fact that after his freshman year at Stanford,
I said there's a kid at Stanford.
I think he's the best quarterback prospect since Elway.
And then in the middle of his second year, I'm like, this kid's unbelievable.
And then he came back an extra year.
And just the way he came back, he didn't have a press conference.
He wrote a note, a handwritten note, and laid it on the desk of the sports information director at Stanford.
He didn't want any fanfare.
He said, yeah, I'm going to come back.
I just signed up for classes next year.
That's Andrew Luck.
I have no prediction on Andrew Luck.
There's never been anybody like him.
He chose Stanford.
They were horrible when he chose Stanford.
Why?
He chose him?
Education.
His social media was Andrew Luck's Books Club.com.
That was his social media.
Why?
Education.
I don't even have a comp for him.
He has no comp.
He has no peers.
There's never been anybody like him.
I interviewed him one time at a Super Bowl.
He was so uncomfortable with it.
And he knew his dad told him I would be a nice guy to interview with.
And he thanked me for all the nice things I said.
And he wasn't nervous.
He just, there was nothing about being interviewed that interested him.
He had a flip phone.
And it wasn't that long ago.
He's one of those guys that told defensive players nice hit after they hit him.
He came to the podium.
I mean, the idea that he would, and this is not a shot at Aaron Rogers,
but would be in the news regularly, would be so against everything he is.
I have no idea if he'll ever come back.
I've never seen any kid like him.
There's no comp.
I mean, he doesn't think like anybody.
He doesn't live like anybody.
He's not motivated by the same stuff other people are.
No idea.
Love to see him back.
I have no prediction.
No idea.
If you told me he'll never come back.
I'd say, yeah, I see that.
If you told me he came back tomorrow, I'd be like, yeah, okay, I can see that.
But in terms of him, I'd love for him to come back, but he has no ego.
And I mean, I sat down with him for 15 minutes.
He was so uncomfortable.
being interviewed as the best young quarterback at the time in the game,
had no interest.
And it wasn't me.
I know that.
Because he was just like, oh, my dad says great stuff.
You're very nice.
Thank you very much.
I've interviewed a million athletes.
Nobody's ever been that uncomfortable.
So I just wish him, I want him back in the game, but I have no idea what he'll do.
And with that, no, I just had my Greg Kosell sheet.
I think I threw it in the garbage.
Let's bring Greg Kosell on real quick here.
NFL films 40 years, Greg CoSell, joining us live.
Where they put my Greg, guys, you have to reprint my Greg CoSell questions.
I don't even have them.
How about that, Graham?
I'm such a lack of professional.
But I know, I want to start with this.
I hear a lot about Mahomes.
I hear a lot about, oh, the talent, the talent, the talent.
Okay, Sean Payton said a couple days ago, that's the best college recruit I've ever seen.
He goes, we went down, we flew a private.
jet to watch him work out and we literally walked out and said we got to get out of town and not let
anybody see that we were here his kid's unbelievable so the first time you started breaking down film
is some of that does Andy Reid get any credit does Tyreek Hill get credit or is he just somebody when
you looked at film before he was a star and you thought oh lord this is this is uh transcendent
well I think that the talent jumped off the film there's no question about that I think the concern
And I remember having this conversation, Colin, with a lot of coaches at the combine the year he came out.
No one questioned the talent.
The concern was in college he was such a loose, undisciplined player.
And that's the way he played.
And obviously, he made plays that way.
But I remember coaches.
And again, now it comes down to individual coaches and how they see their offense.
But there were coaches who told me, I'm just not sure after I work 16, 18 hours a day and get to Sunday that he's going.
to run the offense, but no one questioned the talent. The talent jumped off the film.
Yeah. Now, he also has some really nice components to it.
Yes. We looked at film there of Tyreek Hill. He blew the Buccaneers up first quarter last
game. Is there a way with all the film you have looked at on the Chiefs over the last
couple years? Is there a way to defend Tyreek Hill that has some sustained success?
Well, we've seen teams, for instance, Bill Belichick had success a number of times where they doubled him.
Again, you have to feel comfortable doing that because there's other players.
Teams doubled him.
I can't remember what was a playoff game or a regular season game where Hill had one catch for 42 yards.
Actually, the catch came when he was doubled.
But that's all he had in that game because Belichick committed to doubling him.
If you go back to week 12 of this year when the Bucks and Chiefs played, there were third down snaps in which Todd Bowles doubled both Hill and Kelsey because you can double two players.
You can't double more than two, but you can double two.
So we'll be interesting to see if Todd Bowles takes that approach again situationally because in that game, week 12, everybody talks about Todd Bowles and pressure, Colin, but he did not pressure very much at all in the week.
12 game. And by the way, he may not feel like he needs to pressure in the Super Bowl because of the
tackle situation for the Chiefs. You know, yesterday I was asked by one of the companies I worked for
pick the score, pick the game, pick the MVP. And my MVP was Honey Badger. And I said,
I think the defensive lines will make both quarterbacks uncomfortable. And I think Honey Badger's
going to benefit from Brady being uncomfortable with some big plays. I find him to be an incredibly
instinctive player.
He's always around the ball.
How do the chiefs use him
so spectacularly well?
Well, one of the things they do with them,
and you will see this, they do it every week,
is they're very good with disguise
and late movement.
And very often when they disguise their coverage
and move late, they go to cover two,
and Matthew is in a sense
what we call the middle hole defender
or the robber. Normally we see
linebackers in that role as they retreat
from the line of scrimmage.
But they use Matthew, and he can come from any number of different places due to the disguise,
but they use him as essentially the middle hole defender.
And you're right, he's very aware, he's very instinctive.
And that's a coverage.
Cover two out of that disguised looks, out of many disguised looks,
is a foundational coverage that the Chiefs will play.
And they'll play it quite a bit.
We all know Aaron Donald's great.
Often Fletcher Cox's name is conjoined with his.
you know, these interior defensive linemen.
But I watched Chris Jones the last two weeks,
and I'm like, I'm not sure he's that far behind anybody.
You tell me what the film says on Chris Jones.
Yeah, Chris Jones is really, really good, and he's bigger.
He's about 6, 5, 320 pounds.
And I think what you're going to see,
and this is something Steve Spagnolo is very good at his,
based on his multiple front looks,
he's going to create one-on-ones for Chris Jones
against offensive guards.
And that to me is a potential favorable matchup.
It is a favorable matchup for the Chiefs because the interior of the Bucks O line has been a little erratic throughout the season.
And Spags is very good with his use of linebackers, creeping them up on the line of scrimmage, forcing them to be accounted for in the protection.
And that creates one-on-ones for Chris Jones against guards and at times centers.
And that's a positive for the Chiefs.
Let's talk Brady now.
We talked Mahomes earlier.
based on how the Kansas City Chiefs play defense,
who do you suspect will be Tom's favorite target in this game
or who has it been over the last month or so?
I would look and again, you know,
it's hard to know who's going to be the volume target,
but I think Cameron Bray is someone to look at in this game.
It would not surprise me to see that the Bucks play a lot with two tight ends
and try to limit the pressures of the Chiefs.
because one thing we've known about Steve Spagnola
since he's been in Kansas City
and he did it in Week 12 against Brady
is he blitzes.
I mean, the first two third downs of that week 12 game,
he came with zero blitz.
He is going to attack.
And Brady is not a post-snap player
in terms of movement.
Brady normally wins before the snap of the ball.
So I would expect to see some 12 personnel.
I would expect to see Cameron Brayt perhaps be a factor.
And again, maybe not.
not a volume receiver, but a factor as a receiver.
You know, it's so interesting.
Tom went from no targets or no weapons in New England to a surplus.
I mean, really, I'm watching these highlights of Ronald Jones, and he's a spectacular
running back.
As you watched the season, there was some turbulence in this season, but was there a moment
in this season where you felt watching the film, Tom's now, it's more rote.
He now feels comfortable.
He's not thinking back there.
Was there a moment he got, you know, he went zero to 60.
He went no weapons to eight.
Is there a moment to you it kind of hit for him?
Well, I think what happened, Colin, is he had to get comfortable with the fact that there
were more deep drops, more intermediate and vertical routes.
That was not the foundation of the Patriots offense, certainly not since the Randy Moss era,
and that was a long time ago.
And that was only a couple of years.
He was used to getting the ball out quick.
He was used to choice routes, option routes, pivot routes, whip routes, things where the ball came out quick.
He had to get used to a different kind of offensive approach.
And by the way, when you throw the ball further down the field, obviously your protection has to be better.
And so he had to get used to that as well because he got hit a bit more this year.
There were games where the offensive line was not real strong.
Look, even in games in which they win, he got, the Packers hit him a lot in the NFC champion.
game. So I think he just had to get used to a different style, a different approach, and the fact
that the ball was not going to get out as quick. I want to go to your big play of the week.
These two teams played in week 12. Take us to your big play, the design, the schematics of it.
Well, let's just start with the fact that I mentioned that they'll have to handle blitz. But obviously,
the Chiefs will not blitz on every snap. And when they don't blitz, I think that's when you have to be
able to make some big plays in the passing game.
And I mentioned the 12 personnel, meaning one back and two tight ends.
I think you'll see that.
So let's go to this play.
This was a 48-yard completion to Rob Grancowski, who has not been a big factor in the
passing game since this game.
Yeah.
But this play was very interesting because, as I said, it came against zone coverage with no
blitz.
And what you're going to see here is Tom Brady under center.
And he still plays under center.
And this is going to be what we call a full.
flood concept, a three-level stretch. Mike Evans will run the vertical route. Rob Grunkowski will run the
intermediate route from the other side, a crosser, and Leonard Fournett from the backfield
will run a flat route. And it's three levels, short, intermediate deep. It's a flood concept.
The chiefs run it a lot, by the way. And what you're going to see is the two safeties here,
they will spin. Matthew will go more into the deep middle, and Sorensen will drop and essentially
become a flat defender in cover three. So watch Grancowski. He gets a free release and he's going to run
his crossing route. Now what happens here is Evans lifts the corner because the corner in cover
three has to run with Evans. So he lifts the corner. And then you have Sorensen who's going to
play in the flat. And his eyes are certainly not on the other side of the formation for Grunkowski
running the crosser. So it's beautifully designed. This is a cover three beater concept. It's a
great route against cover three.
It's a great route against cover four as well.
But it's a zone beater, and it'll be interesting to see if they can attack when they get zone coverage without blitz.
Greg Kossel, 40 years plus at NFL Films.
Can't wait.
Good talking to you, Greg.
Thanks, Colin.
Appreciate it.
Yeah, that week 12 game, we were just watching the highlights.
There were a lot of big plays in that game.
There were a lot of spectacular plays.
If you just take these two teams and you, if you made a pro bowl team, just an office.
offensive pro bowl team out of these teams,
it could take on any pro bowl team in the league.
I mean, seriously.
Your wide receivers would be Tyreek Hill,
Mike Evans,
Antonio Brown.
Chris Godwin.
And then you go tight end, you'd go,
Travis Kelsey,
your blocking tight end would be gronk.
Brady'd be your backup quarterback.
Your running backs would be,
I mean, it's just hilarious.
They're offensive lines.
I mean, it's just, we got the right two teams here.
That's my point.
We got the right to team.
I'm watching these highlights and I'm like, God,
talent is insane.
Ronald Jones, he's like a forgotten guy.
He's been unbelievable when he's healthy for Tampa this year.
Stefan Diggs will show up today.
Ryan Fitzpatrick of Miami's here.
So is Russell Wilson.

This Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano.
our podcast point game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows without Luca and Austin Reeves,
I got to manipulate the game.
We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs.
I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series
because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup,
he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid.
He has to guard Julius Randall.
And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying.
He running up the court, licking his fingers why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.

Brett Favreve was very critical
of Deshawn Watson wanting
out of Houston saying he should
just do his job because he
makes a lot of money. Yeah, that was a
bad quote.
Yeah.
DeShan's agent slammed Farr for his opinion
tweeting Brett should probably stop
throwing stones from that glass house he's
sitting in. Thank you.
He is, Drep Favreth estimated to be worth
around $100 million.
Yet, yet
is giving his
opinion. It's kind of ironic, but
we talked a little bit about this yesterday and he
talked about it at the beginning of the show.
I'm very old school myself.
I think I'm an old school person.
But
Brett Farve did his own
version of this. He didn't force his way
out of anything or ask for a trade,
but everybody asserts their power
and leverage when they have the opportunity
to. That's part of
being great at something.
You then get into a position to make decisions
for your career. Now, obviously he's signed
to contracts, but there's, it's overwhelming support for Deshawn Watson.
What do you expect him to do?
This is a situation that is dysfunctional.
You have a pastor running the organization.
You know what it is a lot of this is, let's be totally honest about this.
Most people don't have options in life or leverage and they resent people who use theirs.
Yes.
That's what this is down to.
This is people.
Most people don't have options in life.
They're clinging onto the job they have.
So when you have somebody that's really, really talented, there's a little bit.
I see it among men all the time.
I won't speak for women.
But there's this resentment.
If you had options, you know, what's the old saying?
Chris Rock used to say the comedian.
You're only as loyal as your options.
You're only as loyal as your options.
And most people don't have any.
So I would be loyal.
Oh, God, give me.
Loyal to what?
What is even the concept of loyalty in the professional space?
There's too much of a blurred line when it comes to that word.
Don't just toss that word out.
Loyalty in a relationship, great.
Loyalty to family.
Great.
Loyalty to friends. Great. Loyalty to hard work. Great. Loyalty to a corporation that can cut you or trade you or maneuver their way out of a contract anytime they want to. What are you talking about? Loyalty as a fan is great. This is Deshaun Watson's job.
Career. On top of it being his job, it is his career. And on top of that, he has a legacy to be concerned about because you and I and all of you fans are going to talk about what he did with.
his career at the end of it.
Yeah.
His every right to get out of this dysfunctional situation.
He is great.
Also, don't you want to see him thrive?
Years ago, this was about, let's see.
This was about 20 years ago.
Almost actually 20 years ago, 18, 19 years ago.
I sat down with a radio executive.
This true story.
Opposed to my ones I make up.
True story.
Sat down, his name was Tom Baker.
Nice guy.
And he's saying, I got an offer to leave to a radio station.
Colin, loyalty is key with me.
Loyalty is everything.
Loyalty.
Two days later, he took a job with Intercom in Boston.
Oh.
You know what he also said one time?
Want to hear a funny story?
Only last a minute.
I went for a raise one time.
Tom was a funny guy.
Very funny guy.
He goes, Colin, you make too much.
Can't afford another nickel.
We'll have to turn the lights off at the radio station.
I was asking for $38,000.
They paid me $35.
He said, we'll turn the lights off if I have to give you another penny.
And I said, the guys across the street offered me 50.
He goes, okay, 60 and not a penny more.
Isn't it funny what leverage does for you?
It's amazing.
It is.
It is.
And Deshaun Watson has a no trade clause, so he does have leverage in this situation.
He has enough money to sit out for a year and not.
He can make this very ugly if he wants to.
I hope that it doesn't.
and I hope that the Texans wake up and realize a situation that they have put themselves in.
Deshawn Watson did on the field and, for that matter, off the field, what he was supposed to do,
and you have not delivered.
At this point, it's just best for everyone to go their separate ways.
So Tom Brady is proving he can win without Bill Belichick.
While the Patriots struggled in their first season in two decades without him,
Albert Breer asked some expatriates if they believe the two are keeping tabs on each other since the divorce.
And former New England linebacker, Ted Johnson, thinks they absolutely do.
He said, I think Brady's scratching an itch he's had for a while.
And it's so very important for both of these guys.
Neither of them will say it directly.
I think they are obsessed with trying to prove the other wrong right now.
And I think you're seeing it with Tom.
He'll never say it.
Bill will never say it.
But I think they're obsessed in their pursuit of proving they can win without each other.
It's just very human.
Who, I mean, listen, if you get divorced and she marries George Clooney,
you don't want to get fired and live in a car.
Like, we're all competing here.
We all have egos.
We're all human.
Outside of Andrew Luck, everybody in America has an ego.
Yes, it's ego, it's human nature.
Protection.
At some point, it does become toxic to hold on to those kind of feelings.
Yes.
But they're real.
They're real.
And you're talking about two of the most competitive people on planet Earth in one of the most competitive
businesses in existence.
Here's what bothers me about it, though.
I think Brady always appreciated Bill. Always.
Yeah.
Okay.
I don't believe at the end that Patriots always appreciated Tom.
That's why I'm rooting for Tom.
There's not a day that I think, I think Tom at the end got frustrated with lack of weapons.
I think every day was there.
Tom totally understood.
I'm not winning these things without Bill.
But when the story started to leak out joy in the last two years,
they thought they could win these things with somebody else.
that's why it becomes very much to me,
I am pro Brady on this.
You were both valuable to each other,
but don't kid yourself.
Brady was more important.
70, 30, 65, 35, whatever.
He was more important.
Two things can be true.
You had an amazing time together,
built an unbelievable dynasty,
won a ton of championships,
and probably what the Patriots did,
won't be duplicated again.
There was just too many things
that had to work and come into place
and lack of egos,
perfect amount of ego and leadership and everything that was the perfect concoction for that
legacy to exist specifically in this sport where there's not a lot of movements and there's salary
cap and all of that but i'm with you like at the end of the day the guys in the field are the
ones doing it you can draw up the perfect game plan if the players don't perform at the level
that they need to you're going to lose that now there there does become if if it's so dysfunctional
like even Deshawn Watson can't win, he won a bunch in Houston,
but at the end he couldn't win.
And there are quarterbacks that can be great,
but I mean, like Philip Rivers had years in San Diego 10 years ago.
The old line was so bad.
So, I mean, you have to harmonize it.
But the quarterbacks are more important than the coach.
Even as much as I love Andy Reid, Annie makes the playoffs.
He doesn't not only win Super Bowls,
but like decimate teams without Mahom.
But I just, I don't.
I don't think that's a knock.
I think on Bill Belichick, I think it's just an obvious fact.
But it is a knock that they started leaking stuff that they didn't need Brady.
I'm with you. I agree with that.
That stuff was nonsense.
You know the game, Joy.
That gets out because somebody wants it out.
And we know Brady didn't want it out.
Of course.
New England wanted that out there.
We could win with a lot of people.
So now I'm dancing on the grave a little.
I'm kind of happy for it.
Well, we all got to be petty a little bit.
Drew Breeze hasn't officially retired yet,
but the Saints are planning for the future.
They brought in James Winston on a one-year deal last season.
And even though he's a free agent, Sean Payton is hoping to keep him around.
Him along with Taysam Hill, who's in the building, we've said it all along.
You know, we're not going to develop and coach those guys.
And James is one of those guys that we have a big interest in.
Sean Payton anticipates an announcement from Drew Brees next week or week and a half.
It makes sense that he would want to wait until after the Super Bowl to announce.
that he's retiring.
I don't know.
I don't know what the Saints are going to do moving forward.
You know what's funny?
I am already putting, because I've made a commitment.
I did pretty well on my predictions this year.
I went seven for seven in the AFC.
So every team I predicted would make the playoffs in the AFC.
I went seven for seven.
Yes, I did predict the Steelers would be the last in,
but I got that wrong, but they got in.
NFC has about 50-50, but I'm already kind of,
here's three things or four things I know to be true already with my predictions.
The Eagles will be in last because of their coaching hire and their quarterback mess.
Houston Texans will be in last because of their coaching hire.
Detroit will be in their last because they're rebuilding and their coaching hire.
So those three I can tell you right now.
Detroit's last, Phillies last, Houston's last.
And Tampa Bay will win this division next year, the NFC South,
because they may go in with a dual quarterback situation,
and Atlanta and Carolina just don't have the rosters
to compete against Tom Brady's second year with this.
So I got my four predictions down,
three last place and the first place.
I think you're right.
Again, I don't like the,
I don't hate the way that the Saints approach this season.
You knew this was going to be Drew Bees' last season.
Go all in.
They're in cap hell right now,
and obviously they're not entirely sure
what they're going to do with James Winston and Taysam Hill.
And they obviously, to Sean's point,
they have Taysam Hill in the building.
they want to see if they can keep James around
but you have to go all in when you have
these windows like obviously it didn't turn out the way that they wanted
it to but like go all in when you can be
aggressive and then you know I have faith that
Sean Payton and the Saints, a very functional organization
will figure out a way to get back here
they just have to figure out the quarterback of the future. They're not going to be
bad, they're just not going to be great.
Yes. Joy with the news.
Well, that's the news.
And thanks for stopping by. The Hurdline
news. We were talking about
and Nick Wright
struggles to say anything.
nice about Brady. He just loves Mahomes. He's from Kansas City. And so when you get these moments
where Nick has to acknowledge that Brady's pretty good. And yesterday, he was talking about
Brady and he talked about Tom's commitment to the craft of quarterbacking. The guys we have
seen play the longest, we have seen them start to dabble in other things.
Brady doesn't. Brady's got the TB12 stuff, which is part of him playing so long and does not seem to have any outside interests, which I think is what allows him to stay this dedicated and this sharp.
And it's one of the most remarkable things about him, I think.
Seth Wickersham writing an article about Brady said, Brady has told us over the years he tries his best to live in the present.
He learned that years ago when he watched a documentary called Giro Dreams of Sushi.
It was a film about an 85-year-old cook dedicated, it's very good, by the way,
to improving his craft regardless of age.
Says Tom, it smacked me in the face as a reaffirmation.
Just be in the moment.
What's better than what you're doing now?
Nothing.
It's a good way to live your life.
Dedicated to living in the moment.
There's a word for that.
I think they call that.
Present.
Yeah, intentional living, present living.
Be here now.
I'm not great at it.
But it's Tom's watching the same documentaries we are.
He's just taking something out of it.
I mean, he's, you know, listen, there's, it's funny about this.
People over the course of our careers, we go speak to high schools and colleges and
broadcasters. And, you know, kids will say, I want to be a sportscaster. And I'm always like,
well, what kind? Joe Buck. First question, always. Yeah. Well, what, what, well, it's like saying,
I want to be a doctor. Well, you want to be a general practitioner, a baby doctor, a brain surgeon.
And I'm like, what kind of sportscaster? Because Joe Buck is great at that, and I do a good job at this.
And we do it. And so I always say, just you got to stay focused in. You can't be, I want to do, I want to be live.
on the field. I want to do opinion.
I want to do... Then you're just a bunch of
B at everything. Go be an A at something.
Jack of all trades or master of one.
Go master something. I tell my daughter
that all the time. Be great at something.
People just come up to you all day and thank you.
You can be a
you know, a web
designer and a poet and a
barista and
being great at something's hard.
And that's a good life too.
I'm not, you know, people always say it's not about
the destination. It's the journey. But the journey, but the
journey is really fun when your destination is clear.
Then it's a really fun journey too.
You find something.
You're great at it.
You hone it. You sharpen it.
And I think Tom's done that really well.
This is what I do. I'm good at it.
I'm just going to go deeper and deeper, not wider in my life.
I'm going to go deeper and deeper to something I deeply love.
My wife, my football, my kids.
No, people always say they want to be successful.
What do you want to be successful at?
Yes.
There you go.
Stefan digs around the corner, Russell Wilson, too.
and Ryan Fitzpatrick of Joy's Dolphins is stopping by.
He's a Harvard guy.
We've got to be on our toes, okay?
Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific.
Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.
Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas.
And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about defying the odds.
Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what.
He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before.
And he knows.
Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
And when IT's friends stop by, like Quentin Richardson,
we dive into some playoff history too.
Steve Nass would get that thing.
That man, hell get the fly.
Man, he running up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball.
Like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick.
Oh, yeah.
Get your ass up and down the court, and you're going to get the ball.
So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hey, I'm Jared Adano.
You might know me as that loud guy who yells out, help on the internet.
Help!

Please!
But there's so much more to me than me.
I'm an actor.
I'm a comedian.
And recently, I've become.
quite the helper myself.
And on my new podcast,
Hope from a Hippocrat,
I'll be changing lives,

If you're watching the latest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, you already know there's a lot to break down.
Orsha accusing Kelly of sleeping with a merry man.
They holding Kay Michelle back from fighting Drew.
Pinky has financial issues.
I like the bougie style of Housewives show.
I think it looks like it's going to be interesting.
On the podcast, Reality with the King, I, Carlos King,
recap the biggest moments from your favorite reality shows,
including the Real Housewives franchise,
the drama, the alliances, and the T, everybody's talking about.
As an executive producer in reality television,
I'm not just watching it.
I understand the game.
As somebody who creates shows, I'll even say this.
At the end of the day, when people are at home, they want entertainment.
To hear this and more, listen to Reality with the King on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Stefan Digg's schedule to join us, Russell Wilson last hour and Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Joy and I are normally the way it works.
Normally, we are at the Super Bowl, but our network doesn't have it.
And these days, you know, with all the, you know,
COVID and so forth and so on.
You don't go places.
You don't absolutely have to be.
And so we're going to stay here this week.
We're still getting all the guests.
We just don't have to be hanging out on rooftop decks and getting potentially sick.
Yeah, it was a different experience, I think, last year in Miami than it will be in Tampa this year.
So it was funny.
I remember the last time there was a Super Bowl in Tampa.
I remember it so well because I had worked in Tampa and then I left Tampa.
So I knew the city a little bit.
and they had another Super Bowl.
So I go there.
It was the most fun I've ever had because I knew all the restaurants.
Right.
And then the Eagles were in town.
So I was hanging out one night at the Marriott.
That was my hotel.
I was down as customary at the bar.
And there was just a bunch of fun people there from Tampa.
And they're like, hey, the Eagles are right next door to arena.
And I was like, all right.
So we walked out the Marriott, walked down to watch the Eagles.
and they went 20 straight songs,
and I sang to all of them.
You know, the Eagles are one of those bands.
You know, I mean, they've been around so long.
And I remember turning to one of the people I was with,
and I'm like, they don't have any bad songs.
We've got like 20 songs in a row.
Even the Beatles, after like 16, you're like,
okay, I didn't like that one so much.
And I just remember having so much fun that Tampa had a way.
Tampa's like, you know, Miami is flashy.
Tampa's a little old,
But it's a good Super Bowl site.
Very good Super Bowl site.
Stefan Diggs is joining us now live.
I'm told the Pro Bowl receiver for the Buffalo Bills joining us.
Brought to you by Old Spice Dynasty.
So you had the most receiving yard, Stefan,
by any player in the history of the league on a new team, which is insane.
When did you know this is going to work?
This is going to be good.
When did you know that?
That's tough.
Like the first in training camp, you kind of like got off to a slow start.
Like I had had like a little injury.
I had injured my back a little bit.
I missed a couple of days.
And I kind of got the ball rolling like a little late.
And going into week one, we had, we played the Jets.
So kind of learning your quarterback and learning the nuances of new offenses.
And it's like, you know how it is.
It can be a learning curve.
But around like game three, game four is when I was like this.
Josh Allen is the real deal.
Like I don't know what I need to do, but I need to get my stuff in order because he's a real deal.
And I need to come ready to play.
So I kind of just start, you know, watching a little bit more tape, spending more time with them and getting to know them.
You know, I feel like made for a great relationship, the more I got to know them, man.
You know, that's when I really knew.
Well, I've been supporting Deshawn Watson all week, and I say, listen, players' careers are very short.
I can do this talk radio thing forever.
But your guy's career seven, eight years.
So you were outspoken.
You said, listen, man, I've done it here.
I've been good to you.
You've been good to me.
I want out.
When you were going through that, the fans are probably beating up.
on you.
Stefan, you're the worst guy.
So when you were going through that,
take me to where you were when the fans are like banging on you,
and you're not a Viking, you're not loyal.
It was real tough for me because I was one of those guys
that pride myself on loyalty and respect and trust.
And, you know, it's so tough that you have a fan base
and then you have an organization.
So when you have an organization,
whatever you're going through within the organization,
you never wanted to come off with a,
the fans. And it's kind of hard because you feel like you're as one, but we're not always on the
same page. So when that process happened, you know, they call me all the names in the book.
I got a million tweets, a thousand comments about how bad I am. And I was just like this.
I can't really say anything because I've been this guy for so long. And this is the first time
they ever, they ever spoke with me this way other than in like, you know, a respectful way,
a hardworking guy. So it was something that I had to endure. And I was like this, regardless
if it's the narrative or not built around me, I'm going to change that this I've come and
season going into my new situation. I got a fresh start and I'm going to make sure I earn
the respect of my teammates and my coaches before anybody. So kind of unique, you're seeing a guy
like Deshaun Watson who's done so many great things. You know, he's been a he's been an activist
in the community. He's giving back. He's done so much for Houston. He's been a hell of a
quarterback to see people say anything about him other than he's a great guy. It's surprising
because he's done so many great things and not necessarily just football related. So
he's got that microscope on him. And I don't know the situation.
and it ends in and it's in and out but i'm supporting a hundred percent and if a guy like that it's
troubled or is in a bad place or feels like uh he wants more for himself i say go for it i'm getting
behind him 100 so you hear hey we're sending you a buffalo and you're probably thinking
buffalo it snows in like august buffalo but did you pretty quickly did you feel like oh
they love me i mean how long did it take before you're like i'm good with buffalo i'm good with
Buffalo.
No, no, no, even with the trade, because they gave up so much to get me, which was kind of
like, it was such a weird spot to be in because they gave up so much to get me and
they believed in me.
And it was just like, that's all I really wanted from my organization and from my team
and the people that I'm planning for.
So when it, when it happened, Bill's with Monfeet got behind me immediately.
I got a million tweets when I got traded, aside from the comments from just the fans
in my previous place, Buffalo engaged and welcomed me like.
like we're riding with you, we got you, we know we're going to do X, Y, Z.
By then, like, I'm not thinking about, you know, ASE championship or playoffs.
I'm just thinking about them.
I just got traded.
And they already, you know, they already talk about all the good things that end up happening, you know, luckily.
But for me, I was just so happy.
I was so happy to have a new situation to have a group of people embrace me the way that they did.
I was just so thankful.
Like, throughout that season, I was so thankful to the point where, like, I took a second.
I took like one second to look at like, damn, this has been a.
hell of a year. You know, everything that's going on
and to have success, hey, don't show that.
Don't show that clip of him beating me one-on-one.
We play one-on-one, my bad. But it's
just been great, and I had
a great time. One minute left. Tell me
when, I mean, Josh Allen,
just a big old kid, was there
a throw he made in camp or something
where you were just like,
nothing against Kirk Cousins, but was there a play
in camp or something? You were just like, oh, my God.
It was a couple of them.
Like, throughout this season and training camp,
he had like a, like a,
I ran like a post in one-on-ones.
He threw it on the line.
And I've never seen a post throwing on the line 60 yards.
You know, he was just doing stuff that I've never really seen.
I've had some good quarterbacks with some great on talent.
But I got that ability that can run his mobile.
It was one play that really made him, like for me, put him in my heart because he's,
it said a lot to me that he's made up the same way I am.
And it was a play where a guy got a pick, like the DB in practice got a pick.
And he hates that.
He hates that to the point where he told me the next day.
He said, run a post.
I'm going right now.
So I run a post.
I'm like 60, 70 yards down the field.
He doesn't give me a chance.
I make the play on the ball.
He comes like like this.
There we go 14.
And that kind of energy and that kind of, you know,
moxie from the quarterback position,
it makes you want to play better.
It makes you want to go out there and give it some more.
So, yeah, that made him like this.
He's a competitor.
He's a dog.
So I can work with him.
You're as good as any player in the NFL at your position.
next time you're in L.A., stop by our set.
We'll put you down.
We'll have a bunch of time.
I know you're doing a zillion interviews today,
and I understand it.
Stefan Diggs, Old Spice Dynasty, and their YouTube channel,
we've got to run.
You're a great dude.
Get out to L.A. for a weekend.
We'll put you on the chair.
I appreciate it.
Thanks, good guy.
I'll talk to you soon.
All right.
Stefan Diggs.
You know what I love is you're a great player,
and he had a good year,
and then he goes to another place,
and there's a little fear.
small market Buffalo's not free agent
hotbed and he goes there
and all of a sudden after about four practices with Josh Allen
you're like okay it's going to work
listen man that's scary you get one shot at these careers
you get one shot and he's good there
and they send him to Buffalo that doesn't have a great 20 year history
outside of Jim Kelly's years
and then I'm four or five practices in he probably figured out
okay I got my guy he throws a deep ball I run a deep pattern
that makes me happy that's a good life
