Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. I'm Joey Dardano, and on my new podcast, Hope From a Hypocrite, I'll be changing lives, helping people in need with thoughtful solutions. Sike, I'm a comedian. I'm not qualified to give good advice.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Join me and my comedian friends as we riff, rant, recommend some of the most legally dubious advice known to me. This is Help From a Hypocrite, the worst advice from the dumbest people. people you know. Listen to Help from Hippocrat Wednesdays on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. The story I've told myself can then shape my behavior, and that can lead me to sabotage the possibility of connection. This Mental Health Awareness Month, tune into the podcast deeply well with Debbie Brown if you've been searching for a soft place to land while doing the work to become whole. This podcast is for you to hear more. Listen to deeply well with Brown from the Black Effect Podcast Network on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever

Well, he played in the NFL for six NFL seasons, and now he's
Starting point is 00:02:34 he's got the quarterback summit. He works with everybody. He worked with Joe Burrow. Friday, he was there for Trevor Lawrence, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen. And he gives you a little peek. If you love the quarterback position, it's just full of wisdom. I get smarter when I
Starting point is 00:02:50 talk to him, and he's our friend Jordan Palmer. So the Trevor Lawrence Pro Day, first of all, I heard about some shoulder injury on the other side of his throwing side. Did that affect his throwing? How serious is that?
Starting point is 00:03:07 Because I didn't know anything about that until I heard it earlier today. Well, yeah, it was just a, it's going to be a routine procedure. And I think he came out and talked about it. It's on his left shoulders, non-throwing shoulders. So I think it was just a big advantage to be able to get that thing taken care of now. And then he'll be back in a couple months. So he'll be back with plenty of time before the season starts, plenty of time before camp starts. Just made a lot of sense to have it done now.
Starting point is 00:03:32 And, you know, I got a lot of questions about, you know, you know, he could have not thrown if he wanted to. Why did he do that? And Colin, this is going to be, this is going to be one of your favorite quarterbacks because his automatic response to any of this is, why wouldn't I throw? You know, just give me a ball and I got nothing to hide.
Starting point is 00:03:50 And I know you love my brother Carson. And Carson was really the last number one pick to play in the senior bowl and throw and run at the combine. And this kid's cut from a similar cloth in terms of, it doesn't matter if I've only been throwing for a couple of weeks and the footworks new and all this stuff. just give me a ball and I got nothing to hide. I'll show them what I got. One of the things that really jumped out to me with Justin Herbert early,
Starting point is 00:04:12 he is what I would call an easy thrower. It's just a very mechanically, it looks easy. There's very little stress to Justin Herbert. It looks like Nerf ball, Thanksgiving Day, football in the backyard. Is Trevor an easy thrower? Give me his mechanics. What do you see? Well, yeah, I think all these guys entering the league efficiency is the number one thing in terms of their stroke and really trying to eliminate unnecessary movements. So that's a big focus for him, as it is for all of these guys transitioning from college to pro. But yeah, he doesn't have to grit his teeth and grunt to push the ball down the field.
Starting point is 00:04:48 I mean, he's all of six, six. He's not he's not six six in the program. He's six six, you know, when they legitimately measure him. And obviously he showed how mobile he is and some of these big runs that he's made over his incredible college career. But he is, I think, effortless, whether it's throwing, whether it's moving or whether it's having a big, difficult conversation. This is a guy who just appears to be effortless in every phase of his life.
Starting point is 00:05:12 Yeah, in terms of, you know, it's funny about, we said after the Rose Bowl, we kept saying on the air, we couldn't quite figure out the criticisms of Herbert. It was like smart, big, strong, mobile, big arm. People will now nitpick. I remember when Andrew Luck came out, people were saying, well, his arm's okay. And my basis was, well, it's good enough to make the throws. it may not be a howitzer. Is Lawrence have an average arm, a good arm?
Starting point is 00:05:38 It doesn't look like it's Justin Herbert maybe, but like where does it rank, where do you see it? Well, I think you got to look at it in terms of at this point in their career, because if we base it off of comparing somebody to Aaron Rogers, a draft, a kid going through draft training, if you're going to compare him to Aaron Rogers, then you need to compare him to Aaron Rogers when he was coming out of Cal. And Aaron is obviously a guy who has grown a lot in how he delivers the football.
Starting point is 00:06:03 It's gotten quicker. gotten stronger and he's been able to make every throw. And so if you compare him to guys when they're coming out, I think he is upper echelon, but at the same time, this is a guy who's going to get a lot better. He's going to improve. He's going to get more efficient as a lot of these guys do. And so I think he, I don't know that we're going to say he's got the strongest arm we've ever seen all time, but I certainly don't think you need that. And, you know, we look at some of the guys who have transitioned, guys like Joe Burrow, you look at who's in the Hall of Fame. That list does not go from strongest arms all time to weakest arms all time. It goes from guys who can play
Starting point is 00:06:37 the position. So Trevor can make every throw. But I just seeing the way he buys in and works and wants to get better, the sky's the limit because of his athleticism and because his attention to detail and how much he wants to improve. I want to talk about two quarterbacks that had, whether it's confidence or coaching, regressed. Carson Wentz. When you look at it, is it a confidence thing, a scheme thing, a mechanic thing? What would concern you if you're the Bears or you're the cult? Is there anything you look at as a technician and go, okay, that worries me a little with Wenz?
Starting point is 00:07:12 Well, I think we've seen some regression across the board in decision-making and mechanics with Carson Wenz, but at the same time, you have to put it in context. When he was playing at an MVP level, the year when Nick Fulz finished off the season of the Super Bowl champion, what we saw was one of the best young players in this league, and he was rewarded with a contract. But as soon as Nick Foles won a Super Bowl,
Starting point is 00:07:31 it almost didn't feel like it was really Carson's team. And then two years later, they drafted a quarterback in the second round and Jalen Hertz. And the effect that that has on that locker room. And so any concerns I have with evaluating Carson Wentz, I think they can get all cast aside if he does move to a new spot. If he comes in and he's the starter and there's nothing to worry about because he's almost been almost like spending your dad's money in college. Like your parents give you money in it. But it's not really yours. so you kind of spend it how you want.
Starting point is 00:08:02 I almost feel like that's what the scenario has been with him in these locker rooms where, yeah, he's the starter and he's the man, but we just won a Super Bowl with somebody else, and now he left, and then we just add this young guy in the locker room that everybody loves and who played well. And so I just think it's almost been whose team is this. I certainly don't, I'm not speaking on behalf of him, but that's what it feels like from the outside looking in. And a change of scenery and an opportunity to get his own locker room.
Starting point is 00:08:25 And I think that we're going to see the Carson Wentz that we saw three years ago. All right. Sam Donald, who we both love. but he regressed this year. Do you see anything that he's a little reckless for me, and I'm not sure you can coach that out of people. Sometimes he looks like a linebacker playing quarterback, and I want to go, Sam, slide, go to the beach, practice an Oceanside. Is there anything you see with Darnold that concerns you going forward?
Starting point is 00:08:50 No, because, and I'm biased, you and I both love Sam. We've loved him since college. But, you know, he's had multiple coordinators. He's had arguably the worst personnel around him. And what I see in him is a guy where, you know, there's been young quarterbacks who get put in tough spots. And it's hard for them to really finish off the year. And I've seen a couple. But Sam Donald, two years ago, they had that historic year on offense where they were terrible, you know, the seeing ghost debacle on Monday night.
Starting point is 00:09:15 He finished that season off going six and two in his last eight games. This last year, something similar. They almost finished the season three and oh. He won two of those last three games. And so this is a guy who fights until the very end. physically, I mean, there's not a big gap between those two guys right there physically. You know, Josh has an incredible arm, but Sam, his ability to move, escape, find people, throw with people open. It's definitely up there. And if I think part of me wants him to, you know,
Starting point is 00:09:43 finish what he started because I know he wants that. And at the same time, you know, you look around the league and you see other people who have, have it built around them a little differently. And so I think there's got to be appeal in both. And I'm not speaking on behalf of him, but there's got to be appeal in both. But he's a guy where, if this new staff decides to roll with him, I think they're going to see right away this is the player that we all thought he was, and you can build around him if you do it the right way.
Starting point is 00:10:06 And I also think that if another team were to go ahead and make a move and bring them in, they'd have a young player who only thing that's changed since he got drafted is he's dealt with adversity, real adversity now, which is just going to make him an even tougher competitor. Finally, Joe Burrow coming off ACL,
Starting point is 00:10:22 when can he work again? When can he go with Jordan Palmer and throw? When would you be okay with that? Well, you know, we're going with what the Bengals want to do, but I think this offseason, you know, he's already ahead of schedule, as most of these guys are, right? They lay out a, you know, a term when they want you back. And the guys who take complete control of their rehab, like Joe, where they're handling nutrition, rest, all the stuff, not just grinding and out at rehab. But he's going to end up probably, I would assume, ahead of where everyone thought he'd be, just like my brother was when he tore his ACL twice. He ended up coming back, you know, ahead of schedule. But I think Joe will be, he'll be ready to. He'll be ready to. to rock and moving around and we'll go at the pace that his team around him wants him to go at. Quarterback coach, quarterback. You got anything you need to promote here that our audience needs to know, buddy? Yeah, your new podcast network.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Congrats. Oh, thanks. Yeah. Whatever. Well, hopefully I'll continue to get healthier and we'll connect soon here on these chairs of this couch. Good seeing you. Let's do it. Thanks, Colin.
Starting point is 00:11:22 All right. He's full of wisdom, knows his stuff. It's a good point about Darnold. All he's faced is adversity. So if he ever gets a non-caotic situation, explodes for Sam Darnold. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win.
Starting point is 00:12:05 A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered.
Starting point is 00:12:27 with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me, or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Will Ferrell's Big Money Players and IHeart Podcast presents soccer moms. So I'm Leanne. Yeah. This is my best friend Janet. Hey. And we have been joined at the hips since high school. Absolutely. Now a redacted amount of years later, we're still joined at the hip, just a little bit bigger hips, wider.
Starting point is 00:13:21 This is a podcast. We're recording it as we tailgate our youth soccer games. In the back of my Honda Odyssey with all the snacks and drink. Sidebar. Why did you get hard seltzer instead of beer? They had a bogo. Well, then you got it. Do you want a white color or something here?
Starting point is 00:13:36 Just hit it. What are y'all doing? Microphones? Are you making a rap album? Oh, I would. Come on. Could you move? I would buy it.
Starting point is 00:13:43 Cuts through the defense like a hot knife through sponge cake. That sounds delicious. Oh, you're lucky. I'm not a drug addict. You are. You're lucky I'm not an alcoholic. You are. You're lucky I'm not a killer.
Starting point is 00:13:55 I love this team, and I'm really trying to be a figure in their lives that they can rely on. Oh. Listen to soccer moms on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Deanna Maria Riva, actress, mother, lover, and a Gen X woman walking through life one hot flash and hormonal crying jag at a time. You ladies know what I mean. I'll bet you a perimenopausal chin here you do. So let's talk about it. Join me on my new podcast.
Starting point is 00:14:23 How hard can it be with Deanna Maria Riva? where I call on my Gen X squads from Ohio to Hollywood as we navigate Midlife's most fantastic BS. All of a sudden, I'd had hanginess happening on my own. I was like, what the hell is that? I was married when I had her, so I didn't even consider how empty that nest was going to be. Mood swings, night sweats, fupas, sex drive.
Starting point is 00:14:48 Wait, what sex? Dating at 45. How can it be getting naked at 50 with the new guy? That one's kind of hard now. Well, that's lighting. They say we can't polish a turd, but we're sure going to try. So let's get blunt with laughs, tears, or tears of laughter, and dive into it, unfiltered and unbothered and ask, How Hard Can It Be?
Starting point is 00:15:05 I cannot believe I'm about to say this out loud in public. Listen to How Hard Can It Be with Diana Maria Riva as part of My Cultura Podcast Network available on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the news.
Starting point is 00:15:24 The herd line news. Well, a guy that we talked a lot about this season, which we haven't mentioned in a while is Cam Newton. He didn't quite have the success that he hoped for in New England. But despite an underwhelming performance, his former Panthers teammate, Trey Turner, thinks Cam has plenty of football left in him. First year on a new team, and it's just different, man, different people around you, different cities, new plays and all that.
Starting point is 00:15:51 But I don't think that with the last. showing that can what I wanted. You know what I'm saying? And me just knowing him and knowing what he can do and just being able to see his play. I know that he has more left to take you. We'll see.
Starting point is 00:16:09 I don't know about as a starter. Now, when it was first announced that he was going to New England, I knew he was the starter because there was no one in the world that was going to tell me that Jared Sidham was going to beat out Cam Newton for the starting position with the Patriots, even though there were many, many, many that tried. That was a ridiculous notion. Now, obviously they didn't have the season they wanted in
Starting point is 00:16:28 New England and Camden didn't play as well as he wanted to. I do think that the COVID incident in the middle of the season played a significant role. I think he was more sick than we knew about. And, you know, he talked about, you know, having to recover from COVID and him being out those weeks and how that affected his play. I think that he will end up somewhere as a backup this season. And I don't think that it'll be the normal situation with backups where you don't want a backup that's a big, that's too much of a star. I think because of all the mobility and all of the new young talent that's coming in, how quickly this young talent is developing into starters and having success, there's not so much of that anxiety of, oh, our backup quarterback is Cam Newton.
Starting point is 00:17:06 You know, I think it's, I think that's changed a little bit. You want the best guy out there in the field. You want the healthiest guy. You want the guy that's going to help you win. And I think fans want that as well, as opposed to just seeing Cam Newton out there because he's a star. I love Cam Newton. I wish he would have had a better season in New England. could have a few more years there. Although we are hearing that New England would like to have him back, but we just don't know what the starter situation is going to be yet. Because there's a lot still to play out this free agency period and into the draft.
Starting point is 00:17:33 But I don't see Cam starting anywhere this season unless it's a really desperate situation. Well, I'll be honest with you. I think he's going to start in New England because I don't see any plan. I mean, you say what you want. Jared Stidham's not the answer. And if they're best last year, remember they had all these options. opt-outs. Could you make an argument if they get, if they have another draft and they lean defensively,
Starting point is 00:17:58 they'll be better defensively. Players will opt back in. Cam's second year in the system. I mean, they went seven and nine. They didn't go four and twelve. Yeah. If somebody would show me a plan for New England, I'm, I am sitting here thinking, what are they draft in? 15th?
Starting point is 00:18:17 I think Cam starts for New England until shown otherwise. Show people say, well, it wasn't very good. It was 7 and 9 and and Buffalo and Seattle a play away from being 9 and 7 in an opt-out rebuild year. So unless somebody can show me, and I still contend, as much as we hear
Starting point is 00:18:36 about Garapolo and San Francisco, I'll believe it when I see it. When you go like 26 and 6 as a starter, just don't tell me anything will work in San Francisco. So Mike, this morning, I would say Cam starts for New England. Yeah, I could see that. Show me otherwise.
Starting point is 00:18:54 Who else they got? With the opt-outs, with the opt-outs in the situation that they're in, I can see that. And that's Trey Turner's point, that we really aren't giving Cam the grace of this is his first year in that new system. And, you know, he'll be more comfortable next year and all that. I just think, I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just feel like Bill Belichick has a plan. I'd like to see it. I've been hearing that for nine months.
Starting point is 00:19:17 I'd love to see it. I know. So as the Eagles try to make a deal for Carson Wentz, Jalen Hertz is getting ready for next season, and he would step into the full-time starter role with Wentz out of Philadelphia. He will reportedly get together with a group of young Eagles receivers
Starting point is 00:19:35 at some point in this next month to kickstart their off-season workouts. So he's kind of moving forward with the other members of the Eagles as if he is the starter moving forward into next season. Yeah, I think it is a starter. I don't think there's any question. And by the way, they probably have to draft another quarterback, third, fourth, fifth round.
Starting point is 00:19:56 You know, that's my guess. If they move Carson Wentz, they're going to get some really good picks. So they're going to have first and second picks to get some starters. I don't think it's a team without talent. I just think it's a team with a lot of turmoil. But, yeah, I think it's Jaylen's team. Then go draft another quarterback if he moves around and gets hit. But I think the Wendst stuff is done.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Just a matter of who wants to spend the most on Carson Wentz. but it's, listen, you look around the NFL, young mobile guys are working. So let's give them their 16 starts. See what you get. Well, I think they're in a good situation because they do have Jalen Hertz. But I don't know what the Eagles are going to do next year. The NFC East is not going to look the same as it did last year. You're getting DAC back.
Starting point is 00:20:39 You're going to have a new quarterback in Washington. Daniel Jones another year in that system. It's not going to be the disaster that it was this year. and I don't know what to make of that coach in Philadelphia either. So while I do think it's good that they're going to get some picks for Carson Lince and get his money off of it and see what they have in Jalen Hertz, they have an uphill battle in that division next year. So the Nets offense has been unstoppable since acquiring James Hardin.
Starting point is 00:21:03 They put up 134 points to blowout win against the Warriors on Saturday. Hardin also had 16 assists his most since joining the Nets. And Kyrie revealed the two of them at a conversation about that. their respective roles and what they should be on the team. We established that maybe four days to go now. I just looked at him and I said, you're the point guard, and I'm going to play shooting guard. And that was as simple as that.
Starting point is 00:21:29 So he's been taking control of the responsibilities and doing an incredible job. It makes my job easier just go out and play free and just make plays. Well, Kyrie's... I love to hear this. Kyrie's a good off-ball player. He's a good shooter. He's a finisher, so he's a good off-ball player. I just think this makes sense.
Starting point is 00:21:51 Any successful team, any successful company, any successful television show, you have roles. Everybody plays their role and does it to the best of their ability. And if everyone works together for that common goal, rather than being egotistical, and I want this slice of the pie, and we were just talking about Philadelphia, which seems like that is what happens. People wanted different roles and more of a role of somebody else's role, and then it starts to become an ego battle and you're no longer working towards a common goal,
Starting point is 00:22:18 you're working towards your goal. And I'm not saying that Kyrie was doing that, but I do like hearing this from the Nets because roles are vitally important, especially for the NBA, because it's become very positionless. In the NFL, you're not going to have an offensive lineman. Like, I would like more snaps at the running back position.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Like, that's not what you do, so you don't ever have to worry about that. You only have position battles. And the NBA, if you're not playing your role and that becomes egotistical in that way, everything can fall apart, especially when you have big personalities like Kyrie, Katie, and Hardin on a team
Starting point is 00:22:50 that has high expectations. So I love hearing this. Play your role and do it to the best of your ability and make it about the team and what your goals are as opposed to what you want to do. Good stuff, Joy, with the news. Well, that's the news.
Starting point is 00:23:03 And thanks for stopping by. The Heard Lye News. You know, I was saying this. The last show I did previous to today was a Friday ago, a week and some time ago, and Trevor Bauer came to the Dodgers. And then Matt Stafford,
Starting point is 00:23:19 just before that, had gone to the Rams. And there is something happening in Los Angeles. I think it's the greatest accumulation of depth of stars I've ever seen in my life. And we just added two more. So we'll update our list of 10. The 10 biggest sports stars in Los Angeles. I've never seen anything like it in my life.
Starting point is 00:23:38 Matt Stafford was the biggest sport star in Michigan. will he crack the top 10 in Los Angeles? I think some of this is driven by LeBron James moving here, all the movie and television opportunities, and players talk to their agent and say, get me there, momentum created by the king. We'll talk about that next and best for last. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays

It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. The World Cup is almost here. Experience it all with us. Listen to Inside American Soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos on the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:26:40 What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast's Point Game is about defining the odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed. finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game. His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin Reeves, I got to manipulate the game.
Starting point is 00:27:02 We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends, stop by like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some
Starting point is 00:27:22 playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing. That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the ball like, after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court, and you
Starting point is 00:27:37 going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the IHeart Radio app, Apple podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. So Matt Stafford, I was reading an article over the weekend. He had interviewed with many album, Michigan's number one pro athlete left. In Michigan, Detroit has a long history of pro sports and the pistons and the tigers
Starting point is 00:27:58 and the lions and the red wings, Michigan football, and Matt Stafford and Jim Harbaugh are the biggest stars in the state. And I was reading this interview thinking, well, now he's in Los Angeles. And I've said this over the last three to four years, the accumulation of talent in Los Angeles is like nothing I've ever seen. So I thought the staff sat down, top 15, talent. plus production, plus Star Power in Los Angeles currently. I think you'll be blown away by it.
Starting point is 00:28:25 It is amazing. Number one would be LeBron James. Number one. Okay, only player in league history to be named Finals MVP with three different franchises. Talent's amazing. Production, obviously, Star Power unrivaled. Now, number two. Number two.
Starting point is 00:28:44 Aaron Donald, been a pro bowler every year in the league seven times. three-time NFL defensive player of the year, regarded as the best player in the league at his position, Aaron Donald, too. Number three. Mookie Betts. Mookie Betts, a two-time World Series champ, a five-time gold glove winner, led baseball in war, wins above replacement,
Starting point is 00:29:07 largely considered the baseball stat that says hardest player to replace in the sport would be Mookie Betts. Number four. Mike Trout right beneath him, who's got all of Mookie Betts. without the wins. He has finished in the top five in MVP voting in nine straight seasons. No other person has ever done that in the history of the sport. Number five.
Starting point is 00:29:31 Kauai Leonard. He's a two-time champ, a two-time finals NBA MVP, two-time NBA defensive player of the year. Only Michael Jordan has that kind of resume. He's the arguably after LeBron, the best get a bucket, get a stop player in the NBA. Number six. Anthony Davis is injured more, but he did average 25 and 10 last year in the finals. He's a seven-time all-star. Injuries aside, he was the most dominant player, not lame LeBron, in the NBA bubble last year and certainly a top five player.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Number seven. Jalen Ramsey. Best Pure Corner in the NFL. hyper-physical. Rams, 73-passer rating is what rival quarterback's head against the Rams. He's also the highest-paid defensive back in league history. Number eight. Very close, Joey Bosa for the Chargers. Bosa averages 3.8 rushes per game, 3.8 quarterback pressures per game. Second in the NFL. He is what everybody wants.
Starting point is 00:30:47 wants outside of quarterback. An elite pass rusher, the Chargers opened up the wallet. He pressures a quarterback four times a game. Not even Aaron Donald does that. Number nine. Trevor Bauer. He just came over. Last year, Cy Young winner.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Last year, National League ERA leader struck out 100 batters in 73 innings, was virtually unhittable at times last. year. Number 10. Justin Herbert destroyed every rookie quarterback passing record of all time. What's most remarkable, the Chargers' biggest weakness, their offensive line. Believe it or not, NFL record for touchdown passes, total touchdowns, 300-yard gains, and completions for a rookie quarterback. Number 11 would be Cody Bellinger, youngest Dodger to hit 40 jacks in a season, and a 2019 NL MVP. Number 12 would be Clayton Kershaw, the lowest ERA by any pitcher in the live ball era, Sandy Kofax of our era. Number 13, our staff said, is Matt Stafford. The fourth most
Starting point is 00:32:08 passing yards per game in NFL history, but you didn't know that, and the most passing yards by any quarterback in league history without a playoff win. Number 14 would be Paul George, a six-time All-Star, and a four-time All-NBA defensive team member. He's been inconsistent in the playoffs, but largely regarded as a top 15 NBA player and number 15 quarter. And number 15, Seeger led baseball in home runs and total bases last year, World Series MVP and was the hottest Dodger at the end of last year. Our apologies to Walker Bueller, who just hasn't been great long enough, he didn't crack the list.
Starting point is 00:32:56 Now think about this. Matt Stafford was Michigan's number one athlete, and he's a tremendous athlete. Look at the scope and the depth of current talent in Los Angeles. We just added Stafford and Trevor Bauer. It's insane. I've never seen anything like it. Back, I'll see you tomorrow on Tuesday, The HARD. One more HARD?
