Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:00:38 Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:04 And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I put on 10, I was having trouble
Starting point is 00:01:31 stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening to Learn the Hard Way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games. This space is about black men's experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere,
Starting point is 00:01:52 but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit or armor? It signals to the world that you not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to. Listen to learn the hard way on the IHard radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Thanks for listening to The HARD podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday from 12 to 3 Eastern, 9 to noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and FS1.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Find your local station for the Hurt at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the IHartRadio app by searching Herd. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Enter the Fox Bet Super 6 NBA contests for your chance to win $25,000 when you pick the outcomes of six of today's NBA games. Download the app now and play for free
Starting point is 00:02:44 for your chance to win. If I pick the winner, I win 25 grand. Pick the outcome of six of today's NBA games, yes. Outcome meaning. It's not that hard. Yeah, she could do it. Okay, let me play that tonight.
Starting point is 00:02:56 I'll play it for free. I don't know if you're eligible, but I'll give it to a charity. You know, Terrell Owens is a Hall of Famer. What I always appreciate is I'm very outspoken. And if I criticize somebody, I always bring him on the show. And I say, come at me.
Starting point is 00:03:14 And years ago, I don't have a problem with Tio now, but years and years ago, he'd done stuff that drove me nuts. And when he came on the show, I said, come at me, because I'm going to come at you. And he was great. And it was like, all right, I like this guy. We're fine. We're all good. Levar Ball does that. Levar Ball comes on the show.
Starting point is 00:03:30 some of the times I think he's out of his gourd, but I always tell LeVar, I'm going to come at you, come at me. By the way, I told Baker Mayfield that. He was great. Baker was great. So Russell Westbrook hates me, Aaron Rogers, they're always welcome on the show. Come at me. So T.O. All these years comes on the show. Doesn't always agree. But the one thing I think is funny is that he annoys people because he's a Hall of Famer and he says,
Starting point is 00:03:56 all right, you're not going to put me on the first ballot. I'm not going to go there. and that drives that drives people crazy. Part of that I like. Part of that little poking in the rib stuff. I like Tio is now joining us live, the Hall of Famer. So people, you know, first of all, people always say, you know, T.O. You're going to get older and you're going to soften up and you're going to be just such a gentle soul in your 60s and you're going to go, I want to go to the Hall of Fame and I want to do that. Is there even a smidge chance that as you soften as you get older, you're just going to go to the Hall of Fame?
Starting point is 00:04:31 Hall of Fame and cry and say, I love you, kumbaya, and all that stuff. You ever going to go there? Probably not. Probably not. As I've said, and I think you alluded to it, you know, I'm my own person. I realize when it comes to the Hall of Fame and everything that it embodies, when you talk about really the motto, the criteria for guys to get in, 2016 was my first year up for the Hall of Fame, and I checked all the boxes. And so at that time, you think about the history of the game. You think about Jared Rice, who's the greatest receiver to ever play the game. And I'm second, third, fourth, statistically behind him, and I don't get in. And as you just saw with the recent Hall of Fame induction,
Starting point is 00:05:18 and I want to clear the air because I reached out to Calvin Johnson. I congratulated him on his induction. But if you think about the process and some of the guys that were on that ballot with him, Most notably, you think about Tori Hope, you think about Reggie Wayne. Those guys are worthy. You think about their statistics and what they did, not only for their organization, but just the history of the game itself. Those guys are just as deserving as Calvin Johnson. And I'm not criticizing him.
Starting point is 00:05:47 This is not to, you know, negate his induction by any mean or discredit him from getting in. But if you think about the process, you know, for me, just like me, I checked all those boxes. think about those two guys that I mentioned, Reggie Wayne and Tori Hope, both of those guys have Super Bowl rings, and that's part of some of the guys that vote these players in. That's part of the criteria for getting into the Hall of Fame. Yeah, Calvin Jackson doesn't have any Hall of, doesn't have any Super Bowl rings. Those two guys do. So what is the actual formula for guys to be inducted?
Starting point is 00:06:24 Does it bother you because in 15 years you played, you made the playoffs more than half. Does it bother you when people say, hey, T.O. was talented, but he wasn't a good teammate. He didn't help the team. You actually had huge playoff games. Is that the part that's personal, that bothers you that you somehow were great, but you weren't a good teammate? Well, that's the narrative that guys like yourself, Skip Bayliss and some of the former football players that are going on to be a part of the media. That's the narrative that has been out there for a number of years. And so as it related to me in my Hall of Fame induction, I got sick and tired of people really categorizing me as, as you just mentioned, a bad teammate, being selfish, being arrogant. There's a number of guys that have played this game that have done far more things, you know, egregious or negative in a negative light than I have.
Starting point is 00:07:19 But for whatever reason, that's the image that the media portrayed throughout the course of the world. But you can't say that I don't embody what people can't. consider a great teammate. When you think about some of the teammates that I played with, none of my teammates have actually supported some of the medias narrative that I was actually a poor teammate. When you, in the NFL, it's always been understood that like the NBA, the stars are the league. In the NFL, you never have the, even quarterbacks weren't very outspoken. You know, quarterbacks are like, you know, part of the organization. And now you have quarterbacks like Aaron Rogers is outspoken, Deshaun Watson.
Starting point is 00:08:02 is like, get me out of here. Do you side with like a Deshawn Watson, for instance, that says this organization's awful. I'm done carrying it. You guys don't support me. I'm out of here. Do you support that? Absolutely. When you think about really where the NFL stands in terms of, in comparison to what Major League
Starting point is 00:08:24 Baseball and the National Basketball Association, how those guys, those players, with those two entities, how they unify. And they basically, you know, they unify, they get together, they understand their worth. And I think players are now starting to realize they have a lot of leverage. If you think about the makeup of the National Football League, it's 70 plus percent black and brown. And I think that's what's missing is that the fact that guys are not able to really take
Starting point is 00:08:55 their careers and matters into their own hands. But as it relates to Deshaun Watson, This situation, it was bound to happen. There are things that has been swirling around that organization, even from, you know, obviously the departure of his number one receiver in DeAndre Hopkins. You saw a guy in Andre Johnson that never gets on social media come out and basically kind of share his sentiments about what's going on. You saw before the passing of their owner, the racial insensitive remarks that he made.
Starting point is 00:09:27 So there's something brewing down that has. has been brewing in that organization that Deshaun Watson wants to actually get away from. Yeah, by the way, the Andre Johnson point is well stated, because Andre Johnson's one of the classiest guys, never said anything about anybody when he comes out. Right. When he comes out and says stuff, you got issues inside the House of the Houston Texans. Now, we had Darius Leonard on yesterday, who is just an unbelievable football player, went to a tiny school.
Starting point is 00:09:57 The Clemson didn't want him, and South Carolina didn't want him. So we went to South Carolina State, walks into the NFL, leads the NFL, and tackles as a rookie. You went, if I recall, Chattanooga, you went to a small school. And you walked into the NFL, and immediately it was like, okay, this guy is obviously a great player. We always hear about quarterbacks playing with a chip on their shoulder. T.O., did you play with a chip on your shoulder knowing, even in college, you didn't get the respect of getting like a big scholarship? Do you always have that chip? Not at all, because I knew coming out of high school, going to UT Chavez.
Starting point is 00:10:29 that nuga. I wasn't a four or five star recruit. Even when I got drafted, third round 89 pick. You think about the receivers that went in that draft. I wasn't really highly touted to be, you know, as talented as a number of those guys. When you think about Nassim Muhammad, Eddie Kinnison, Kishon Johnson, these are guys, you know, Mercury, Mercury Hayes, Derek Mays. These are guys that played at bigger universities than I did. Honestly, bro, I never thought I would play beyond the collegiate level. I really developed a passion for the game of football. I developed a passion to play the receiver position. I think I'm very unique in a number of ways. I was just an ordinary kid that was able to kind of like said develop a passion for the sport that ultimately
Starting point is 00:11:15 did some extraordinary things on the football field. So I never had a chip. The chip, you know, the chip, you know, the motivation that I had was when I felt like I was being discredited or I felt like, you know, management or coaches or what have you that basically tried to strip me on my voice and really kind of strip, strip me of who, in the essence of who I was and who a lady and my grandmother raised to be a strong black man. I appreciate that. So I got this, I see this thing. You got a new, you're partnering with the Lassorda family.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Tommy, of course, passed here in the last year. You've got a wine label 81. Now, you're one of those guys. You've never even had a candy bar in your life. You have, like, abs. You're going to have abs when you're 80. So do you drink, you know, wine's actually supposed to be healthy for you. You know that, right?
Starting point is 00:12:01 Absolutely. Yeah, wine a day. Yeah, helps. So you drink your wine? I do. I mean, I definitely have to support, you know, the product that I'm endorsing. And honestly, you mentioned Mr. Tommy Disorder, God rest his soul. The week that he passed, I was supposed to fly out to L.A. to do some marketing and things for the wine.
Starting point is 00:12:21 And he ultimately passed right before I got to L.A. And so I just really want to thank his family, honestly, just giving me the blessings to be able to come up with it, to be a part of this partnership and this branding of 81. And as you said, I never really drank a lot when I was in, when I played in the National Football League, that was part of, you know, my health. The reason as far as me optimizing my performance,
Starting point is 00:12:45 alcohol will dehydrate you. So I knew in order to be the best athlete that I could be, I had to eliminate some of the alcohol. But over the last couple of years, I've dabbled and dabbled with wine. Obviously, this partnership came, you know, organically through a mutual family friend and my marketing agent, Max Management. And so they asked me, you know, would I like to partner with Mr. Tomlinosaver? And when you think about a Los Angeles legend, you know, obviously a Hall of Famer like I am,
Starting point is 00:13:13 so I think Los Angeles Dodgers, them, you know, winning their championship last year. This was probably the best time, the most inopportune time that I could have be a part of something like this. He's a pro football Hall of Famer. Here's a great trivia question, by the way. I would have never guessed this. This is a great trivia question. You can win money.
Starting point is 00:13:35 T.O. is the only player in NFL history to score a touchdown against all 32 NFL teams. I wouldn't have guessed that in 100 tries. I cannot believe Larry Fitzgerald. Seriously, he's played for decades. So among your other things, third most receiving yards in NFL history, third most receiving touchdowns in NFL history. T.O., I like having you on. You've grown up.
Starting point is 00:13:59 You're good. You got your act together, your life together. You seem happy. You seem successful and good for you. I'm happy for you. I'm good. I'm good, man. I'm just like my wine.
Starting point is 00:14:08 I'm aging like fine wine, man. I appreciate. Are you a wine drinker? I am. Yes. Well, let me just say. I own, I'm not going to get into my, I own a couple wine stores in Connecticut. it. I sell it more than I drink it, but I always appreciate it. Wine is good for the soul.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Okay. Well, you're definitely appreciate 81. It's, uh, if you have a taste for plum preserves, uh, any of that likes, uh, you have a palette for a right black cherry, spicy toasted oak. Uh, this is 81 is the wine for you. And it's a, it's a cab blend. So it's 95% a cab and 5% sarah. That's a good. We eat that with a state. By the drink that with a steak right there. That rich cab, sarah stuff, good, hearty steak, sarah, very good stuff. You don't have to pitch me on wine ever. I know, you drink it all the time. Tio, thank you very much for stopping by. You know, it's interesting, his perspective. When he was young, he comes out of chatting and we don't know who he is. He becomes great, doesn't like the way he's being treated, very outspoken. And then he's sitting talk to him. It was like, here's how my perspective was. You were trying to take away the essence of who I was and I'm outspoken and this is who I am.
Starting point is 00:15:16 And, you know, you just... It was a different time, as I'm saying, he would be not, he would not be criticized. I think he would be wildly supported by fans now. His fans appreciate personalities and they appreciate hearing from athletes and social media plays a big role in that. You know, the writers and media were the only one, were the gatekeepers of information back then. Oh, boy, choose. With the cloaks and their scrolls. I know. It really is funny, isn't it?
Starting point is 00:15:44 All the media. Hey, what's up everybody? It's me, three-time Pro Bowl of LaVar Arrington, and I couldn't be more excited to announce a new podcast called Up On Game. What is Up on Game, you ask? Along with my fellow Pro Bowler, T.J. Hushman Zata and Super Bowl champion. Yep, that's right. Plexico Burris.
Starting point is 00:16:03 You can only name a show with that type of talent on it. Up On Game. We're going to be sharing our real-life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen to Up On Game with me, LeVar Arington, T.J. Hushmanzada, and Plexico Burris on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast from. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Starting point is 00:16:37 Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes, a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'll say it. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement
Starting point is 00:17:15 to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment, and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music.
Starting point is 00:17:34 The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:17:51 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim?
Starting point is 00:18:10 Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick you here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack.
Starting point is 00:18:30 I'm down to talk about crack on day, but yeah, yeah. But just so you all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table. right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kier Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field.
Starting point is 00:19:10 and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross. Because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different. intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be
Starting point is 00:19:45 a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free iHeartRadio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. Cremel Barber grade products, by the way. Get him at Amazon cremocompanic.com.com. Moisturized, shampoos, hair stuff, beard, shaving cream, CRE EMO, cromocompancy.com. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no, no. Turn on the news.
Starting point is 00:20:15 This is the herd line news. Well, the Texans have not been listening to trade offers for Deshawn Watson, but that has not stopped teams from calling. Five teams have reportedly called to show interests in Deshawn Watson, but there's one team that is in need of a quarterback that hasn't reached out yet, and that is the Washington football team. So they didn't call? Did not call.
Starting point is 00:20:38 It's very interesting because they, They do need a quarterback, and they're picking 19th in the draft. So you're probably not going to get a franchise quarterback there. Well, Chicago and Washington have bad draft picks, need a quarterback, have championship level defenses, have coaches with winning records, and have momentum, and they're not doing anything for quarterbacks. Something's fishy about the Bears and the Washington football team. Either they're doing stuff and being covert, but I think Sam Darnold fits with both. Well, I would say that Chicago is in a more desperate situation as a franchise than Washington is,
Starting point is 00:21:12 because Ron Rivera has more job stability than the head coach in Matt Nagy in Chicago. Yes. So they are talking about, you know, maybe they'll get it in this year or we're going to see. Maybe it'll be next year. And that's not great for the fans. But they do have a little bit more runway to your point than Chicago does. the the Dissant Washington thing is interesting
Starting point is 00:21:35 to me because if I am in any space where I need a quarterback I'm going to make the call like you got to be in the bidding right even if they're not answering calls and even if you don't have the you don't have anywhere near what another team can offer
Starting point is 00:21:51 you still have to make the call to me and be aggressive but some organizations are just not that kind of aggressive and maybe Washington is in that space or they're doing something behind the scenes. Maybe there's somebody else that they have their eye on. So the Packers won't have a lot of flexibility when free agency begins.
Starting point is 00:22:12 They are $11.5 million over the cap. And their GM is being realistic about what the options will be this year. He said, I do think if the right particular player is out there and we think it's the best thing for the Green Bay Packers, we'll be able to do it. We won't be able to do a lot. And I do think there are some restrictions. But if the right guy is out there, I think we'll be able to. to do what we need to do.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Well, they don't have a bunch of needs. They really don't. They could, you know, I mean, JJ, it'd be great if they had another edge rusher, but the whole league needs that. They don't, they really don't. Green Bay, what they could use, you know, is another really good. I mean, their tight ends good, their O-line's good, their back's good. I think their corners are good.
Starting point is 00:22:56 They're talking about franchise tagging Aaron Jones. So we assume that he would be gone, but they might. They might franchise tag him. I don't think they have a ton of needs. I don't think when they played Tampa, they look quite as talented. But some of that is because Brady's taking a pay cut and they've got two or three extra guys. They have an All-Star team. Yeah, I mean, I just, again, I think an edge rusher would be nice.
Starting point is 00:23:21 But they have two good defensive lines. And Kenny Clark's great. So Green Bay doesn't need. They're a lot like Indianapolis in that you would not be shocked. If we may got to the NFC championship back-to-back gears, the Colts, if they ended up in the AFC championship next year. You wouldn't be surprised. So there are certain teams in this league. I don't think Green Bay needs free agency.
Starting point is 00:23:46 I would like to see them occasionally get more aggressive. But the Colts in Green Bay are absolutely good enough to get to a conference championship. And if you're good enough to get there, well, then you're good enough to get to the Super Bowl. Well, not if you don't. I feel like the cults and the Packers are one of those teams that needs some luck along the way. They have a lot of talent. They have the, well, now we'll see what happens with Wents, but certainly the Packers have their quarterback. They're very solid, good culture.
Starting point is 00:24:17 They know how to win. But it's just like that one extra drop of spice, you know, you're cooking. You're like, eh, one more shake. And then it's good. Don't you feel like Mahomes and the Chiefs have that extra? extra sparkle that you need to win a Super Bowl? Certainly the Buccaneers do. Well, I think they have better players.
Starting point is 00:24:38 I just think, I think Tampa looks like an all-star team to me. And I think Green Bay looks like a really good football team. Yes. They're just right there on the threshold. Look at the wide receivers for Tampa. Your third is A-B. Nobody wanted Antonio Brown. Like, I think that there's, he works because he's there and he's with Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I don't know if he would work with another team. Well, he wouldn't. That's true. Okay, your fourth is Scotty Miller. that's your fourth receiver in Tampa. That's an all-star team. It is, but to my point, I just feel like if you're paying attention to who's winning these Super Bowls, they're being aggressive or they have Tom Brady.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Yeah. So New Lions head coach, Dan Campbell, has been building up his tough guy image. He does acknowledge he's not the only one calling shots in Detroit. He might have to defer to GM Brad Holm sometimes. And he has an interesting reason on why he would be okay with backing down. here's what I'd say about a true alpha. A true alpha knows when it's time to concede for the betterment of the team. And so I would tell you one way or another, there's already been a couple of things where it's like,
Starting point is 00:25:46 maybe we don't, you see it a little more this way, I see it a list, but we haven't had one problem, and we're not going to have a problem. I love it. You know what, Dan Campbell, I'm so grateful for you because you are going definitely to provide lots of great content throughout the He is. He is an alpha. He's like a pro wrestler. Yeah. Yeah. I think it's fun, actually. I don't, I don't think, I don't know if it's going to work. I, my personal opinion is that it's not going to work. And that's not necessarily Jan Campbell. It's the lines. And I love Detroit. No shade. But it's pretty consistently dysfunctional for a very long time.
Starting point is 00:26:17 They are more dysfunctional this morning than Cleveland. And that's Santa. Absolutely. Absolutely. I don't think Detroit, I think Detroit has not gotten close to enough credit for how mismanaged they've been. kidding. It's about time to give them respect for that. They've certainly earned it. I'm looking to see what happens. But, you know, the alpha thing is always fun to me. Yeah. I mean, guys like that's important for guys. Ah. Is it? Control. I'm not me, but it is.
Starting point is 00:26:46 I mean, I have my moments, but I, you know, there's... I like a good strong man. Yeah. But you got to be sensitive. Yeah. You got to have a sensitive side. I'm a cry. I got kids. I love crying. Gotta let it out sometimes. I don't think America views me as alpha. I don't think that's a lot. America views me. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Tweet us, let us know. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lye News. Okay, I like to put my stuff out there. Herd Stradamus. All these teams talking quarterbacks,
Starting point is 00:27:16 I'm going to tell you, week after Labor Day, who's the starting quarterback for every team in that 15 team looking for a quarterback bubble? Let's go put it out there next. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd. Weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports Radio, FS1, and the IHeart Radio app.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Hey, what's up, everybody? It's me, three-time Pro Bowl of LaVar Arington, and I couldn't be more excited to announce a new podcast called Up on Game. What is Up on Game, you ask? Along with my fellow Pro Bowler, T.J. Hushman Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yep, that's right, Plexico Burris. You can only name a show with that type of talent on it. Up on Game. We're going to be sharing our real-life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen to Up On Game with me, LaVar Arington, T.J. Hushmanzada, and Plexico Burris on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast from. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games.
Starting point is 00:28:22 Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care which I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:28:49 Yep, that's me, Clipper Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from Bats, basketball to college football or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined. And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week, I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment,
Starting point is 00:29:19 and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast. It's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So, if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be. Starting point is 00:29:48 Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do a little kill? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at It Podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
Starting point is 00:30:10 Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed cracks. I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:34 I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of mental health awareness month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience
Starting point is 00:30:58 in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing and we're still chasing it
Starting point is 00:31:14 and we don't know when we've done enough because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:31:30 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, Learn the Hardway. Open your free, Our Heart Radio app. Search Learn the Hardway and listen now. By the way, every year, this company in Cincinnati,
Starting point is 00:31:53 that's been around since 1876 sends me ice cream. It's called Graters. G-R-E-A-T-E-R-S. It is the best ice cream I've ever had in my life. They're not an advertiser. They have a...
Starting point is 00:32:09 I'm not supposed to eat ice cream because I have a lactose issue. I've eaten half the... Watching you. I've eaten half the pint. The black raspberry chocolate chip is the best ice cream I've ever had in my life.
Starting point is 00:32:23 That sounds good. I have... Cincinnati, Ohio, Graters. Brown butter, bourbon, pecan. How is it? Strong. It's really good. It's incredible.
Starting point is 00:32:32 They're not an advertiser. I'm not getting anything out of this except... Small business. Listen, America's honesty broker. We help small business. Plus you like Joe Burrow. Yep. So support Graders ice cream in Cincinnati.
Starting point is 00:32:45 It's from 1876. Now, they've made some new batches since then. So this is not 130 years old, the good news. I have so much food on my desk right now. Oh, my God. The ice cream is... Ice cream. My jersey mic sub. I'm going to eat.
Starting point is 00:32:57 I don't even know why they send it to me. I have no idea. There are no advertiser. I don't even know why. By the way, for all you high-end retailers, maybe you get a free spot if you send me stuff. All right, here we go. What are we playing right now?
Starting point is 00:33:10 We're playing Herd Stradamus. All right, let's play Herd Stradamus. I will guess every teen is a rumored quarterback. I'm going to guess officially right now why and where they're going to end up. Okay. Who will be the starter for? for the Seahawks. He's made the playoffs in eight of his nine seasons.
Starting point is 00:33:31 It would be professional coaching suicide. Russell Wilson will play for the Seattle Seahawks because Pete Carroll knows for all the issues and the shots Russell has taken at Pete Carroll, there's nobody that could come close to replacing him. Who will be the starter for the Cowboys? Jack Prescott. Contract negotiations this morning are reportedly
Starting point is 00:33:56 progressing with Dak and the Cowboys. Also, they've already offered him a contract. It was five years he wanted four. Dax also made over 50 million in endorsements. He's not dumb. This is the place for him to be. Who will be the starter for the Jets? Zach Wilson. How do I know that?
Starting point is 00:34:16 Because today, Joe Douglas, the GM, for the first time since October, acknowledged we will take calls on Sam Darnold. He said Sam Darnold in October. October was untouchable. He is now acknowledging we will take calls, meaning Zach Wilson is their guy. Who will be the starter for the Falcons? Now, this is where I disagree with everybody. I think it's Matt Ryan. The Falcons defense was the worst in the NFL last year. They were losing shootouts. He's 35, not 40. He's got two huge years to pay him. He's got now an offensive head coach, finally.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Matt Ryan is not going to be the problem the next two years in Atlanta. He is, not the issue. You got no players in your front seven. Who will be the starter for the 49ers? The week after Labor Day, it will be Jimmy Garoppolo. John Lynch said he's our guy. Now, I do believe they will draft a quarterback. I do believe they're over the injuries. That's why we've got so many rumors. He also could have played at the end of last year and chose not to. I don't think that sat well with John Lynch and Jim and Kyle. But he will be first week of the season, the starter. The Miami Dolphins.
Starting point is 00:35:33 I'm going to say Deshaun Watson. I believe Deshaun Watson will refuse to play for Houston. Miami's one of three teams with multiple first round picks. So this is happening soon then. I believe Deshawn Watson will not play for Houston. And I think the dolphins already realized, based on what we've heard, they're not special at quarterback and if you're in a division with Josh Allen
Starting point is 00:35:59 you better get special at quarterback or Brian Flores is not winning the division anytime soon. So who's going to be the starter for the Texas? Justin Fields the Ohio State quarterback who went 20 and 2 at Ohio State. They don't want to. But they want to star
Starting point is 00:36:17 to replace Deshawn Watson. And in order to replace DeShone Watson, you can't have a system quarterback. You're going to have to go out and get a star I like Justin Fields more than a lot. All these draft guys now are down on Justin Fields. I think he's going to be fine. Just needs a couple years in the league.
Starting point is 00:36:34 The Saints? This one seems obvious. James Winston. He's cheap. Taysam Hill has four career touchdown passes. He passed for what? He's still only 30. I mean, he's not very old.
Starting point is 00:36:44 James is a kid. By the way, he's gotten in good shape. I thought he was lumpy a couple years ago. He's not anymore. He's in shape. He's been in the system. Year two, he's cheap. James.
Starting point is 00:36:53 The Patriots. Cam Newton. He led all NFL quarterbacks with 12 rushing touchdowns. Year two in the system for New England. He's going to start. By the way, tell me the other options. The Jets aren't trading Sam Darnold in the division. Tell me the other options.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Who will be the starter for the Washington football team? This is where I go. Sam Darnold said it a month ago, you as a witness. They're young, they're talented, takes pressure off Sam Darnold, doesn't have to win shootouts. Alex Smith is gone. Darnold is a tough football player. That is, he is Alpha.
Starting point is 00:37:24 He is right in. line with what Ron Reverell likes. Chicago Bears. Alex Smith. He's got a relationship with Matt Nagy. Yep. Nagy was the Chiefs quarterback coach. During Smith's five years in Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:37:38 And by the way, how did Alex do as a starter last year? Five and one. Interesting. Panthers. Trey Lance. 42 touchdowns, one turnover last year at North Dakota State. I think he's probably the most underrated player. Big, strong as our scout,
Starting point is 00:37:54 Tray, Lanzerline said earlier, they ask him to run a pro offense in college. They're clearly over Teddy Bridgewater if you read the stories. The Eagles. Jalen Hertz. They'll get healthier on the offensive line. He will have more time to throw.
Starting point is 00:38:11 And frankly, it's time the organization gave a quarterback love for an entire year. The other side of the state, Pittsburgh Steelers. Ben Rathlisberger, I don't want to talk about it. I think it's a stupid move. And the Denver Broncos. Don't love this either. Drew Locke. think they'd like to move off, but they're going to lose the Darnold sweepstakes.
Starting point is 00:38:28 I don't think they want to pay Marcus Marriota, and so it's Drew Locke and his low completion percentage. Black Rifle Coffee Company. Serving people who love America, go to blackriflecoffee.com slash herd. Check out. Hurd get you 20% off. Also, Michelin Endurance XT silicone wiper blades last two times longer. Get them at Walmart. Silicon on the windshield wipers. So it repels water, snow nice. I'm going to eat more ice cream. Third. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy,
Starting point is 00:39:01 not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer Streeter Seidel help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform?
Starting point is 00:39:18 We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app. Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying.

Starting point is 00:40:25 stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, what's good, y'all? You're listening and learn the hard way with your favorite therapist and host, Kear Games. This space is about black men's
Starting point is 00:40:41 experiences, having honest conversations that it's really not safe to have anywhere, but you're having them with a licensed professional who knows what he's doing. How many men carry a suit are armored? It signals to the world that you're not to be played with. And just because you have the capability that does not mean that you need to.
