And oh, my, the Russell Wilson situation is heating up. Joy, you take a day off. We have been so lucky. The other day, management does this type of stuff. I got a little text from a manager, and he said,

do you realize your Tuesday or Wednesday ratings were up like 50% from a year ago? And I'm like, yeah, because the whole world, every quarterback's moving. It's not that I'm brilliant. I mean, though that's the initial feeling. I mean, you should give yourself that. Yeah, but it's actually, you and I've been talking about this off the air. It's crazy town. I mean, I've been saying for years that the NFL needs to embrace this more.

It's why the NBA offseason is so thrilling. It's all just speculation. Almost half of this stuff doesn't even end up happening or something else ends up happening. But we can't stop talking about it. So here's the very latest. I'm told the Chicago Bears are trying to make a move on Russell Wilson, and they're trying to create a move that is so good, Seattle can't say no. Now, Seattle would ideally not want to trade him do an NFC team.

And this situation is Russell Wilson wants more say and thinks Seattle's offensive line and Pete's outdated offense are the reasons they're struggling. Pete Carroll thinks that Russell Wilson is responsible for a lot of the problems and interceptions. That's not going to change. That's how they see the world. My feelings always been, fellas, get over it and just deal with your tension. Brady and Belichick had tension, get over it. But now I have no idea how Chicago is going to make this work. They don't have a quarterback to give Seattle,

and they don't have a great draft pick to give Seattle because they made the playoffs. Here's how it works. Chicago gives Seattle five first-round picks. Now, they may not be great picks if they get Russell Wilson, but they give them five first-round picks. Nobody else is probably going to offer that. and then Seattle has a deal to get a quarterback simultaneously with that. Keep your eye on Sam Darnold, USC guy,

Pete Carroll, USC guy. In December, here's what Pete Carroll said about Sam Donald. I think he's really talented. Great throws. He's a real quarterback. He sees things. He makes big plays and big throws in difficult situations because of his talent. It's just a matter of time.

Sam's going to be a really big-time quarterback. He's thrown a lot of balls in three years. He's had a lot of experience. It's going to pay off in the long run. Sounds like Pete Carroll, like Sam Darnel. So you get all those first-round picks from Chicago. Remember Seattle gave all their first-round picks up for Jamal Adams. You get them back.

And then some. And then you get the quarterback who doesn't cost anything for a year. Seattle's going to have some dead money. That's ugly. But you're not going to pay Darnold for a year. So this thing, is, and you know, here's where I'll give Pete Carroll credit. In Pete Carroll's eyes, he's like, well, I rebuilt USC and I rebuilt Seattle.

That's what I do. I don't inherit great teams. I inherit messes and fix them. And whereas the Houston Texans got their feet in the ground, the Houston Texans are a big question mark. Everything's uncertain. Pete Carroll pulls this off. You have certainty.

We've got an unexpected, talented question. or inexpensive talented quarterback. We got a zillion picks. That's a bunch of certainty. Now, is giving up Russell Wilson ideal? No. And they'd like him to go to the AFC over the NFC. And Chicago knows that.

Seattle's not too caught up, I'm told, on the dead money stuff. They don't care about that for a year. They don't. They like to get Russell to the AFC. But Chicago, that has not had a legitimate quarterback, like a big-time quarterback, since Sid's, Luckman. They don't have a feel for this position. We always say the Packers have a feel for offensive linemen. The Steelers have a feel for wide receivers. The Bears have a feel for defense. They

got no feel for quarterback. And here you'd have one for a decade because you can't go against Aaron Rogers twice a year with a bunch of Nick Foles and a bunch of Mitch Trubiskees. You can't do it. And Aaron's going nowhere for the next seven years. So Chicago's trying to make it work and keep your eye on Sam Darnold. That's how Seattle gets their quarterback. Very exciting stuff. So occasionally, okay, let's be honest, usually we're right.

I said Cam Newton was going to resign with New England. It makes a ton of sense. And I'm going to defend Cam Newton on something. So today, one-year deal, $14 million. And why it works is, first of all, that's a very doable number. Second of all, a one-year deal, New England can still draft a quarter- But I think this is the move they should have made. This is the move if I ran New England, I would have made, and here's why.

Number one, quarterbacks are always better in year two. Tom Brady is not going to have that September, October turbulence. Tampa Bay is going to go 15, 1, 14, 2, or 13, and 3. Brady's going to be better this year. So quarterbacks are always better in year 2. Secondly, Cam rushed for 12 touchdowns. Well, what about us throwing? They have nobody to throw two.

So Cam did what he does really well. He gave them 12 rushing touchdowns led the NFL. Number three, it's a very team-friendly contract. Number four. New England's coaching and their defense or special teams are great. They don't need to be a top five offense. They just have to be better than what they are at wide receiver. And number five, and this is crucial.

The AFC East, outside of Buffalo, is still a bunch of questions. We don't know what the Jets are doing, two in Miami. me, I mean, Buffalo's good, but Belichick's had a great deal of success against Josh Allen. He's given him fits. And here's the other thing, and people are not being fair with Cam. And Cam's never been my favorite, and he's not very accurate. But let's be fair about this. So what happened in America that all sports leagues and the NFL had the deal with this season?

COVID. And do you know anybody that's had COVID? I do. Not only do you get COVID, but it's. lingers for two and three weeks. That's for athletes. Old people that last for two and three months. So Cam got COVID. And the first two games back from COVID, he was a mess. He was weak. He was tired. Zero touchdowns five picks. So Cam's a big strong athlete. He's not 70 years old. So he's going to recover quickly. So he gets COVID. He's out. He comes back for two weeks. He's got no juice.

but let's go look at the last nine games of the year where Cam with team doctors, big strong athletes, how'd he do? We had a passer rating of 90. He had 12 total touchdowns, completed 65% of his throws, and had a winning record. Cam was pretty good down the stretch. Again, throwing two interns. So the reality this morning, and I said this with Cam,

this morning, New England feels 9, 9, 10, 10, and 6. six to me with Cam. Year two, talent, team-friendly deal. Just go out and buy a wide receiver. Buy Hunter Henry, the tight end. Go buy Kenny Goladay. With this defense, with this coaching, Cam and year two, still a ton of question marks in this division. And you're looking at a nine and seven, 10, and 16, that you're not going to want any part of. Because the way Cam Newton and New England are going to run this offense stylistically, unless you have like Baltimore and Lamar Jackson, if you're preparing for New England in a playoff game, you don't have anybody in house that plays like Cam.

So, you know, Cam's not your typical guy. You can't prepare for him. It's like one of the advantages to Lamar Jackson. How do you prepare for Baltimore? You don't have anybody in your camp that plays like him? And that was always the thing with Michael Vic. You couldn't simulate him at practice. That's a real thing.

So this makes sense to me. It's always made sense to me. I don't buy all these quarterback prospects. I don't buy Mack Jones at all. You know, I think my prediction is Trevor Lawrence and Trey Lance are going to be the two home run quarterbacks. Everything else is a lot of nonsense and inconsistency, although I think Justin Fields has real talent. But this makes sense to me.

They feel like a playoff team. They don't feel like a Super Bowl team, but they feel like they could on any Sunday with Cam year two play with people. Now just go get Kenny Gallaudet. Just go pay for a receiver because you can't figure out how to draft one. And everybody's got a hole in life. It doesn't matter if you're the best doctor, you're the best coach. everybody's got a hole. New England can't draft college receivers. Go pay for one. Kenny Galday's great.

So there you go. Seattle's doing their deals with Russell Wilson. They're taking calls. Whatever. It's fantastic. You know what I usually talk about on days like today in February? Hey, let's break down Xavier. I'm not talking college basketball. Now you're going to talk NFL superstar quarterbacks. Also, this is interesting. You know that dynasty thing. I mean, dynasties are fun. They're fun in college sports. Alabama's kind of boring. But dynasties, San Antonio Spurs were a little boring.

Alabama's kind of boring. Most dynasties are fun. Kansas City is finding out this dynasty thing is kind of hard. It doesn't last for very long. That's coming up. Eric Fisher coming off an ACL, that's hard to overcome.

Achilles, excuse me, and Mitchell Schwartz has a bad back, back surgery. That's not ideal either. They're also potentially losing their center. So it's very interesting here. Kansas City is going to win seven Super Bowls, and I think they have a long runway with great people. But an hour before the Super Bowl, that was the narrative. Then they got blown out in the Super Bowl.

Now they need to rebuild their offensive line. and now Patrick Mahomes' contract every couple years going to get price here. So this dynasty thing is hard. New England had some big advantages. Their division was nonsense. There were no great quarterbacks in their division. Patrick Mahomes has Justin Herbert and Derek Carr, for starters, and Denver's going out to get one. So New England had the advantage of Tom Brady had 20 years of a bunch of second-tier quarterbacks, second-tier coaches.

The other thing is New England went 10 years without winning a Super Bowl. And that's the greatest dynasty of all time. The other thing is New England had the best quarterback of all time taking massive pay cuts because he was married to a superstar. That's something that Kansas City doesn't have. So Green Bay in Seattle with Russell Wilson and Brett Farve and Aaron Rogers have three Super Bowl totals in a combined like 30 years. It is hard. Remember, there's only five dynasties in the history of the NFL. Five.

Some are short. Vince Lombardi in Green Bay. And then you went to the Pittsburgh Steelers with Terry Bradshaw. and then you had Bill Walsh, San Francisco, Montana. Then you had the Dallas Cowboys, Troy Akemaneers, and then you had New England. That's it. Farber was never part of one. Rogers not part of one.

Russell Wilson not part of one. Peyton Manning was never part of one. And there are great quarterbacks. I mean, Dan Marino was never part of one. John Elway was never part of one. So it's hard. And now Kansas City has to rebuild their offensive line. By the way, in their division, Joey Bosa.

Can you imagine Joey Bosa going up against a rookie left tackle for Kansas City? Right now he's salivating. I mean, that's not good. So it's tough. No question. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news.

This is the herd line news. Well, someone who was a part of a dynasty, is Tom Brady, and he is now with the Bucks and has agreed to a contract extension that will lock him in through the 2022 season. The deal is actually a four-year extension that voids to a one-year extension. So this will save the bucks $19 million against the cap this year in an effort to keep as much of the team together as possible. And they have a lot of free agents, as we know. They franchise tagged Chris Godwin and re-signed Levante David, but they still have to make free agency decisions on Shaq Barrett,

Gronk, and Domic & Sue Antonio Brown, Leonard Furnett, and the kicker Ryan Suckup. You know, it's interesting. So I think we both agree that New England and years, or two, Tom will be better. The offense, there'll be less turbulence. They kind of figured it out with about six weeks to go and through the playoffs. But the Saints now are over the cap and they don't have a quarterback. All their rivals, Green Bay is not going to keep their center or Aaron Jones. Seattle may not have Russell Wilson. Pittsburgh's got Big Ben, who's too old. The Kansas City Chiefs are rebuilding their offensive line. Like, name the really good team that got better.

I would say the Rams, golf to Stafford, feels like it's a little higher ceiling. No question. Now, I would say in the NFC, nobody. None of the good teams got better than the NFC. If Russell Wilson, and by the way, even if Russell Wilson stays, there's like animosity forming here every 15 minutes in Seattle. Like the NFC teams, nobody's really, I mean, Dallas will be better. Dallas will be better.

But I don't consider them. I think Arizona will be better. Should. San Francisco's a finger crossed. The Rams will be a little bit better. Yeah, Rams will be better. San Francisco of Jimmy G. Well, aside from Jimmy G, they had an insane amount of injuries last year.

They should be. So if Jimmy G plays half the season, they'll be better than they were last year. But it looks like it's one of these things where this Tampa thing may not be a one-off. That may be your next dynasty for four years. On paper, it's looking like that. I mean, Pro football focus ranked Tom Brady second, the second best quarterback last season behind Aaron Rogers, who obviously won the MVP. He had 65.7 completion percent.

percentage 4,633 yards, 40 touchdowns to 12 interceptions and obviously an 11 and 5 record and run the Super Bowl. But this is going to be his 23rd season in the NFL and he will, well, the 22 season will be his 23rd season and then he'll turn 45 for that season. Now he said he wants to play until he's 45 and now he has the deal that's going to keep him through 45. But, you know, I've been thinking about this and you've been saying it, like he might be better next year. It's a second year in this system. And we know dealing with COVID and they were, you know, practicing in high school fields and like trying to get work in. They're not going to have to deal with that this season. They have all the protocols figured out.

They're going to be able to work together and they went through an entire season together. I think Cam Noon's going to be better next season with another year in the system. I mean, we thought this was like a one-time thing and the bucks are trending towards their- The box this morning put together for the next couple years. are easily the most talented team in the league. I mean, in terms of 12 best players, Kansas City's second in terms of overall roster. It looks like to me, Tampa, you had a long drought.

It's over. If they keep on this path, when Tom Brady's going to hold them accountable, it's looking that way. So on the opposite end of the spectrum, the Texans have been pretty strong in saying that they're keeping Deshaun Watson as their quarterback, even though he has made it clear he once out. But head coach David Cully seemed to,

to open the door a little bit for a potential trade by sending mixed messages this week. First, he went on the Huddl and Flow podcast and said he's our starting quarterback right now. We'll see what happens. And then he later spoke to reporters and reaffirmed their commitment to Deshaun saying there's no contingency plan. He's ours and he's, we're committed to that. He also had a quote about, you know, we made a commitment to him. So we would hope that he would be committed to us or something like that. If Deshawn Watson does not report, he would risk.

losing up to $20 million. Now, I am of the belief that Deshawn Watson and his representation had a long talk before this ever became public about what the actual plan is. What are the, what's the worst case scenario? What's the best case scenario? When you do something like this that becomes public, you have to sort through things first. You can't just be going with the flow. Like, okay, well, what happens if this happens?

Like, oh, well, you're going to lose $20 million. Well, we probably shouldn't have public with everything. So I think they have a plan. I think they have a good grasp on what's actually going to happen. I think Deshawn's side does. I think Houston's lost. No, I'm talking about Deshaun. I think he had a plan going into this that if the Texans do make this ugly or if we do have to sit out, this is what the plan is.

And this is how we're going to recoup that money or this is how we're going to force our hands. Like, I don't think he just went into this with no plan whatsoever. I don't know what the Texans are doing. I don't know if they're just trying to save face at this point, but I don't see how Deshaun is there within the next couple weeks. And I don't know how they don't make this move before the drafts because they're losing suitors as time goes on. I mean, they just re-signed Cam Newton in New England.

We thought that was a possible landing space for him. And now that's not available either. So they got to get it together. So the Cowboys finally got their long-term deal done with DAC. There's been some talk that the team might have overpaid for him. But Jerry Jones has no regrets on this deal. The truth is, most anything that I've ever been involved in, that ended up being special I overpaid for every time to the end.

Anytime I've tried to get a bargain, I got just that. It was a bargain in a lot of ways and not up to standard. That's actually funny. He's talked about this before. No, you get what you pay for. And that's his mentality. When you're a billionaire, you can do that. When's the last time you try to save money on something and how did it go?

I did it on a pair of shoes not long ago and I thought to myself, you're an idiot. I literally wore them twice and had a blister and I'm like, what am I doing? I mean, I'm not a huge bargain shopper. Like if I have to buy something, I generally, I'm going to look for not the most expensive option, but if the most expensive option is what I need

and I'm going to actually use this. That's the number one change my wife made. I used to be a bargain shopper and she's like, so. Well, I don't like to buy stuff for the sake of buying it. And I feel like bargain shoppers, like they just enjoy shopping. Like if I have to buy something, it's because I want it or need it. So I'm just going to do, you know, what's within my budget? But I'm not going to be like, oh, this is 50% off.

But I don't really love it. But it's 50% off. So I might as well get it. Like, that's not my mentality. Jerry Jones is a billionaire. So he can generally pay for the higher end of things. But, you know, I don't know what you're, I don't want to misquote you, toilet paper and transportation.

And quarterbacks. And quarterbacks. Just pay the money. Transportation, toilet paper, quarterbacks. Don't go cheap. I don't understand what took the deal so long. That's what's confusing to me because Dak got everything he wanted. So you would have assumed that it took this long.

There would be some kind of concession. Give or take. That's the only thing that confuses me about the deal. It's great for Dak. I love it for Dak. And I don't think that the Cowboys overpaid at all. He's a franchise quarterback. We're not talking about some guy that has injury history other than this year,

somebody who isn't a great leader who has questionable off-the-field decisions. Like, he's perfect. He's just not Patrick Mahom. talent level. Yeah. Well, they got... Like, you don't feel like you can win a Super Bowl with with Jack Prescott?

I absolutely do. You got certainty at a position you don't want uncertain. I mean, how would you like to be Houston this morning? You don't have any certainty at quarterback. It's like, what? Even Seattle. Like, you have the guy. I talked to Ron Rivera last night.

Coach of the Washington football team. And I'm like, it's March. You're a good team. You don't have a quarterback. And he's like, we're making calls. Like, you got to get on it. I mean, it's drying up. It should have been their priority years ago, but I'm glad they got it done.

Good stuff, Joy with News. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Herd Lie News. It is, you know, you go bargain shopping on certain. There are things, you know, like bottled water. I really don't have to pay for the most expensive bottled water. It doesn't have to be the most expensive, but you don't have a water preference?

Something not called my tap. Anything that's bottled, I feel, I'm getting. You know, you go to the convenience store to pick up something. There's nine bottled waters. There's one I don't like. The rest are fine. I'm not going to say. There's one I always thought it was kind of cheesy.

Other than that, you know. But most things you get what you pay for. Exactly. Mark Schler, three Super Bowl rings, multiple time Pro Boulder joins us. Mercedes Ben's the best or nothing. So, you know, I was saying, Mark, When you talk about Cam Newton, he got COVID. And I've known a few people who've gotten COVID.

I've known young people and older people. Older people, it is a three to four months process to recover. Young people, it's about three weeks. So if you take the COVID with Cam, he comes back for two games, Denver and San Francisco, he's bad. But starting with the last nine weeks, he completes 65% of his throws, 12 touchdowns, racerating of 90, and I'm like, year two with Cam, that defense ops back in, I kind of feel like they're a playoff team. I kind of get what they're doing, do you? Absolutely. I think the other thing, it signals to me is, is that what you're looking to do

in the draft, meaning are you looking to move up in the draft and pick yourself one of these five quarterbacks early and just let that guy marinate behind Cam Newton? Like, that makes sense to me. So, you know, there's a building process. There are a football team that has, I believe, a lot of cap space at their, you know, the ample cap space to continue to make moves. As you mentioned, they're going to have a lot of guys opt back in. They had a lot of defensive players opt out. But it makes sense to me. And one more year, building on the process that started last year, yeah, Cam Newton makes sense. And, and he will, you know, he'll, I've got to assume he's going to improve from last year's season.

And there were times where he was really good. So, yeah, I think that all is perfect for the New England Patriots. Okay. So the Chiefs, both tackles are gone. You can't replace both of them in the draft. At some point, you're going to have to pay for somebody in the league. I'm not going with two rookie tackles with Joey Bosa in my division, not interested. And at this point, Von Miller's in the division, not interested.

So plus they're losing their center. So you tell me, if I'm Patrick Mahomes, this is not a great morning for me. Your thoughts. Right. No, I don't think so, but I think what you have to look at is you've got to look at. I talked to a coach yesterday of the league who told me, hey, listen, man, if you're a veteran player that's older, that's making $10 plus million a year, you're getting cut or you're going to have to renegotiate your deal. So, I mean, there are going to be a lot.

This is going to be a free agency like no other free agency that we have had. I remember in 1993 being a member of Washington and seeing Reggie White. Now, Reggie White is a guy I played against twice a year. He's a guy I played a pro bowl with. But seeing Reggie White come into our facility and like wanting to get his autograph. You know, he's like, oh, my God, that's Reggie White, right? So I think this is going to be a free agency like that. Like, free agency has become this situation, Colin, where you have to overpay for marginal

talent to plug holes. This year, free agency is going to be you have to underpay. for exceptional talent to plug holes, right? It's a completely different, it's a completely different realm of free agency. So I think Kansas City Chiefs are looking like, hey, look, we're going to cut some guys. We're going to be able to try to either renegotiate with those guys

or go get another player that is of the same caliber. We're going to have that opportunity in the draft to pick up a dude. Like, I don't think that Andy Reid is sitting there worried about, hey, we're not going to be able to field an offensive line. There are going to be a lot of a lot of really good players. players that are going to be for hire. And it may be one-year mercenary-type contracts. But I think there's going to be a lot of players available to plug holes this free agent period.

Yeah, I think you're making a really good point. Free agency is usually a good player that's overpaid. I look at the list the last couple of days. It's great players who, by the way, because of the market and the cap, you may be able to just steal for a year. Kenny Goladay for a year is a top three-wide receiver. Those guys just don't become available for one-year contract. Now, I've been told that Seattle is taking calls and Chicago is the most aggressive team, which, as you know, they do a lot of things well in Chicago. They can't figure out the quarterback.

They're like, that's just their thing. That's their whole. They just can't do it. If it happened, would you be shocked or do you feel like, listen, this is the new NFL? Pete Carroll's rebuilt Seattle. He rebuilt USC. Pete probably goes, this is a little. what I do. I've done it my whole life.

If it happened in five minutes, what would your reaction be if Russell Wilson's a bear? I would be, I mean, I know a lot of Bears fans it would be ecstatic. There's no question about it. I think I still would be shocked. And you

I listen to you enjoy talking about this coming in. Like, you don't underpay for toilet paper, right? You don't underpay for like, quarterbacks are hard to come by. Elite level quarterbacks. If you're talking about let's take the five guys that are elite level quarterbacks in this league. And there's probably only five guys that you would put in that category.

Russell is one of those guys. And so for that guy to walk from your franchise, regardless of, you know, tension between coaching staff and what's going on there, it's still shocking to me that you can have a quarterback that has a top five kind of presence in this league and say he's available for trade. That's shocking to me. But anyhow, I guess I would be shocked. I just don't expect them to be out of Seattle.

But you're right. You know, the more you hear anytime, and I always say this about the NFL in general, anytime I have seen smoke, there is always fire. Right. There is always fire. And there is a lot of smoke coming out of Seattle right now. There's got to be a brush fire inside that facility somewhere. Yeah, no, again, this stuff leaks when somebody wants it leaked.

and one of the sides wants it leaked in Seattle. So, you know, I was thinking about this. Sometimes there are franchises, Mark, that are harder to play for. To be a great player for the Lakers is hard. Magic, Kobe, Shaq. The expectations are insane. To be a shortstop for the Yankees post-Geeder. To be the quarterback for the Cowboys, it's a lot.

You got the vanity and the brand. And could I make this argument? where DAC may not be a $40 million quarterback on the tangibles, the arm, his unique maturity and stability is a lot of quarterbacks can't handle being a quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. It is a lot of noise and a lot of ego. The owner holds a press conference every Monday. And that you can make an argument that 10 million of that DAC contract is just he's a grown-up

and can handle the noise contract. Yeah. Yeah. No, I agree 100%. Like when he first came in a league, when he was a rookie, his offensive coordinator was a guy named Scott Linahan. Now, Scott Linnehan and I played at University of Idaho together. And so I called Scott just to get a read on the kid because the kid was playing great as a rookie. And the thing he said about that Scott that just resonates with me still today is that kid has got an old soul. He's just an old soul player, right? And he's got a maturity level and a presence about him. And I love it. Like, I love it when a guy gambles on himself and says, man, I know what my value is. I know what my worth is. And until I get my value or my worth,

I'm not signing your deal. I'll play on the franchise tag. I don't mind gambling on myself. I have that much confidence in me. And I love that about Dak Prescott. I love that kind of leadership, that kind of believability, that kind of putting it on my shoulders, and I'm going to bet on me. I love that about him. And you're right. I think he is that guy that has the ability to lead a franchise. And I tell you, the signing of Dak Prescott to me empowers the Houston Texans. I heard you talking earlier about the Deshaun watching situation. Listen, your value is not going down. Here's Dak Prescott, who's played on the franchise tag, who comes out after he breaks his ankle. I mean, dislocates his ankles, his foot going the wrong way, and his value continues to

increase. So run with me on this. If you're the Houston Texans saying, I'm going to call Deshaun Watson's bluff. You're either playing for us this year or you're not playing at all. Because I would think if you want maximum value for Deshawn Watson right now, wouldn't you have to be answering phone calls? So you're either going to play for us or you're not going to play. We stunk with you last year. We were four and 12. The odds are we're going to have the number one overall pick and think about this. Kyler Murray, Kyler Murray was a second round, second day draft pick, went to number one overall.

Hey, when we started the process with Baker Mayfield, he was a second round pick, went to number one overall. When we started the process with Joe Burrow, he was a sixth round pick, went to number one overall. Somebody's going to come up there that's going to be a quote-unquote can't-miss proposition, right?

So to me, you're looking at it and saying, okay, so let's play this season now. We're going to stink. We'll probably have the number one overall pick. hey, Deshawn Watson's value at 26 is not dropping. It's only increasing because we are a quarterback not, we're a quarterback starved league, quarterback deprived league. So his value is only going up.

We're going to get garner four first rounders for him. We're going to have the number one overall pick anyhow. Like we're going to stockpile our coffers with players, with talent. So either you play for us, you don't play. Yeah. Good stuff, Schleris. What do you got plan today? You mowing your yard?

You like doing that? no no man I am at look at me I'm a mess I've been up I'm in LA so I just get done with my radio show and and I'm in my daughter at my daughter's apartment right now just kind of uh I don't know probably go look at me I'm fat I'm gonna go eat Mexican food that's what I do in LA not a not a bad plan it's a good place to do it it is Mark Slareth best Mexican food in America is in Southern California no question oh I love it too I love it I can't eat enough chips and salsa. So I am told this moment to go, the Seattle Seahawks general manager, John Snyder, is at the Trey Lance workout today. And it made Russell Wilson and his agent Mark Rogers very angry three years ago when they were at the Josh Allen workout, the small school guy. The Seahawks loved Josh Allen. They're at the Tray Lance workout today.

So Seattle does not have a first round pick. Do they trade Russell Wilson to one of those top five or six teams to get their pick to get Trey Lance? Do they go to Atlanta? Now, Russell has a no trade clause. But

Atlanta's got a very good owner. Atlanta's got some nice skill people. Hold on. Okay. So just very interesting. Seattle and their GM are at the Trey Lance workout. Again, Seattle didn't have a first round pick.

You look at those top five or six, seven picks. Anybody there that potentially could get Russell Wilson, would want Russell Wilson? Jacksonville, Jets, Miami, Atlanta, Cincinnati is the top five. He wouldn't accept the Jets or the Jags. Who's number three? Three is Miami.

You know, he didn't mention Miami, but I don't think it would be the worst place. If I'm Russell Wilson, I would accept Miami. Yeah. The problem with Atlanta Matt Ryan's contract. Yeah. Boy, I would accept in one second to go to Miami.

Russell Wilson and Miami, you're unbelievable. Sierra and Russell Wilson, Miami. By the way, we have a history in the NFL. Great quarterback with a defensive coach. Went to a lot of Super Bowls. Yeah, I think it's kind of interesting that Miami wasn't on his list, but maybe he has a relationship with two. You know what?

Just because somebody's not on your list doesn't mean, everybody's taking a fork in the road in life a couple times. You know, you've been on the freeway and you're like, you know what? Let's just take a right right here. I just can't believe this is even a conversation. Well, it is. How? Well, whatever.

I mean, how? If you, I'm just like, I can't imagine being in Seattle and being like, yeah, I think I think we can make this work. Okay, but what if this happened? So Miami gives them their pick. Miami gets Russell Wilson. And then Seattle gets four to five first round pick. So Seattle's like, we sent him to the

AFC. We got him out of here. Russell's like, he'll go from Washington no state tax to Miami no state tax. It's an international marketing hub. And then Russell's like, him and Sierra would thrive there. And I get a great defensive, I already got a good defense. Way better than Seattle's. And the offensive line is close. It's not quite there. And they have a receiver.

They've got a series of running backs. You get Russell Wilson and Aaron Jones. That's one of those that it's not your list and suddenly it's on your list. You know, a lot of times you're looking for a job and then somebody comes in, not on your list, they blow you away. You go home and ask your wife. I never really thought of that, but that may be the best offer in life. You got to be ready to pivot in life.

You can't all be, you can't, like Russell's got his teams. There are worse places than Miami. Well, I mean, if Seattle wants to try and make a move for Trey Lance, they're going to have to get into the top five. And Seattle gets Trey Lance. Miami gets Russell Wilson. And by the way, I believe. We've got five quarterbacks coming in the first round.

I'm going to tell you the two I think are going to make it. Trevor Lawrence and Trey Lance are mine. You guys can have the rest. Those are the two guys I think are going to be home runs. We know it ain't going to go five for five. It's unlikely in NFL history. It goes four for five. Two of these guys can't play.

One's average. My prediction is Trevor Lawrence is a stud and Trey Lance is a stud. I talked to an NFL personnel guy last night. Somebody that some of you know, it's a name you know. really smart. And I told him my theory and he said, you're not necessarily wrong. I told him my concerns about Zach Wilson of BYU. And let me segue to this. So if I would ever question Zach Wilson, let's say the Jets draft Zach Wilson, and I say the next day, I think it's a bust. You'd just be outraged. Last year was a great draft. This year's draft is much thinner on

talent. It's a great draft. Let's go to the 2020 NFL draft. Top 12 picks. Two are home runs. Chase Young Washington number two pick and Justin Herbert Chargers. Those are home runs. Those look like Hall of Fame players. Five are very concerning. Jeff O'Kuda Lions number three. Bad. Andrew Thomas left tackle giants. Not good. Tua. Not great. C.J. Henderson, Jags, ninth corner, struggled. Henry Ruggs, Raiders, 12. I didn't like to pick then.

I like it worse now. Then there's five others. They didn't pop, but there's something there. Joe Burrell's clearly talented. So was Derek Brown, Carolina, Isaiah Simmons Cardinals. Jedrick Willis, the offensive lineman in Cleveland. There's something there. Same with Mackay Beckton, the offensive lineman for the Jets.

So of the top 12 picks, these are the top 12 picks in a great draft. Two home runs, five potential bus and five look good, but yeah. So my point is, if I'm the Jets, we know in the NFL history, the first two quarterbacks taken, they're never both great. One of them's not going to work. And Zach Wilson, I told my talent guy last night, they said he looked skinny. I said history of the NFL. Name the NFL great quarterbacks. Your first thought is, boy, he looks skinny.

Fav wasn't, Felt wasn't, Aikman wasn't, Ben wasn't, Brady's not. He looks skinny. And by the way, if you're skinny at 22, you're skinny. You never seen a skinny guy that looks maxed out at 25. Secondly, Jets have a bad old line, sketchy receivers, rookie head coach. Does that sound like a winning proposition? Third, you got Belichick, Sean McDermott, and Bronch. Ryan Flores in division.

There's the three best defensive coaches in the NFL in Ron Rivera. So, be careful. But Eric Mangini, when he was on earlier this week, said he goes, you know, you can get a lot more trading that number two pick, Zach Wilson, then you can get trading Sam Darnold. You may be able to get three first rounders from a college kid. So I don't know. Like I look at last year's draft and all, in the top 12 pick, we have five potential busts.

You think you're getting guarantees. You're not getting guarantees with the first 12 picks. Forget the back end of the first round, second, third, fourth. All right, hour two, loaded.
