joining us on the show today. It is great to have you in. Joy Taylor is joining me. Joy Howard Things. You got the cool glasses on today. I like that. Thank you. It's a pack 12 or nothing. Oh my God. They're just running. You know, it's, it's, I will say this. It's, it's, Gonzaga looks like easily the best team in the tournament. And I think the days of Kentucky and Duke and Louisville grabbing all these high school stars is over. It's, it's, it's, Pack 12's had a good season, good for them. But I want to start with this. So the headline of this story is, here's the latest in contract talks between Aaron Rogers and the Packers.

And I'm going to read this and you just tell me if it doesn't quite sound right. Mike Silver of the NFL network, he's close with Aaron Rogers, spoke on Monday about the potential of a restructure or extension of Rogers' contract. contract. He noted how the Packers have not signed any outside free agents this offseason and that lowering Rogers' salary cap number would allow them to do that. Pause. Free agency is almost over. They're not restructuring Aaron Rogers deal to get free agents because we know they don't do that. They're restructuring that contract because eventually they want to start Jordan Love. and don't want to have money issues. Aaron's smart, right?

This is an organization that wouldn't keep tight-end Jared Cook, couldn't land J.J. Watt, didn't give him a heads up when they got rid of his quarterback coach. Don't really aggressively pursue free agents. And Aaron Rogers is supposed to do them a solid? I'm not saying he should be a bad employee. But, you know, the old saying, don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining, I'd be a little cynical of Green Bay.

And by the way, great quarterbacks don't usually retire where they start. Tom Brady's now in Tampa, Peyton Manning in Denver. Brett Farr was in Minnesota, Philip Rivers in Indianapolis, Joe Montana in Kansas City. And society is far more mobile today than it was when those players were drafted or even in their prime. Aaron and Green Bay have always had tense off seasons. I mean, named the last one that wasn't. There's always a story. Somebody bails, somebody leaves.

Aaron's not happy. I mean, Brady and Belichick had mostly contract harmony for 20 years. He took pay cuts, and that didn't end well. Even Dan Marino in Miami, the Dolphins didn't pick up his contract. He had three offers to leave, and Dan's just like, I'm done, I'm retiring. Aaron, I know you're a sensitive guy. Aaron, I know you don't want to come across as a bad guy. But leaving Green Bay is not the end of the world.

I mean, Tom Brady got Jimmy Garoppolo out of the building. Russell Wilson named teams he'd play for this offseason. Dak Prescott got, he played hardball, got everything he wanted. Aaron Rogers gets nothing he wants. He doesn't even get a heads up when they get rid of his quarterback coach. They wouldn't keep his Pro Bowl center, which is remarkable considering Corey Lindsley was drafted in the fifth round. They got a discount on him his first four or five years in the league.

They still wouldn't pay him. They wouldn't land J.J. Watt. They didn't get him a number two receiver. They drafted Jordan Love. Then a backup running back. You got to get, listen, he's lucky that Aaron Jones took a team-friendly contract or they wouldn't have kept him. Dak Prescott played hardball and got everything he wanted. Shouldn't Aaron get occasionally something he wants a little?

I mean, listen, I always think there's a balance in this stuff. The team should get some stuff and the players should get some. some stuff. That's how a good business runs. I get some stuff in contract negotiations. Fox does. But the idea of restructuring Aaron's contract so they'll go pursue free agents. Now? Really? I don't know. I wouldn't do them. I don't think I'd do green bandy solids here. Just me. Doesn't mean you're a bad employee. I'm just not giving them break after break. So this is really interesting to me. Speaking of how businesses run, and I think one of the reasons the NFL has pulled away from every other sport in the last 20 years is they've got really solid management.

They've got really a solid commissioner. Players get a lot of money. Players have never made more money. But it's run by the league. It's run by the commissioner. That's how businesses work. I don't run Fox. They run the company.

I'm compensated, hopefully at a good rate. But this was weird yesterday. So Steve Kerr got very upset, Coach of the World. years. And by the way, he's a, he's a blue blood, like he's American basketball royalty. He won titles as a player. He was a terrific broadcaster. I mean, he was really great. He was a very capable GM, and he also won rings and trophies as a coach. It's one of the smartest guys the league's ever had. Highly respect, everybody like Steve. Yesterday, he called out, like a reporter, a blogger, because of a tweet about a podcast he was on.

Here's Steve Kerr. I enjoyed last season when we had the worst record in the league more than I enjoyed that last season when we went to the finals because we had young guys last year who were trying every day and working hard. We had a great energy, great spirit, great camaraderie and losing sucked. But what you want is a good vibe and a good, you want to look forward to going to the gym every day and seeing everybody. And that last year was tough. It really was tough. There was just a lot going on that you guys. Some that you know about something that you don't.

And that was very difficult. Okay, that's the podcast. That's what he said. He said last year we lost a lot, but it was a great vibe. It was very clear. I listened to the podcast last night. Kerr came out after somebody named Drew Schiller basically quoted Kerr in the podcast, and then Kerr came out and said this reacting to it.

Drew Schiller decided to tweet today. that Steve Kerr said he enjoyed last season more than Kevin Durant's last year with the Warriors. Okay. So I want to make this extremely clear. If you want to actually get the story accurate, I encourage you to listen to the podcast before we sort of take this story into offshoots and use that as my quote, because that is the furthest thing from the truth.

truth. Actually, we all on the staff listen to it, and that was your quote. Steve, that was your exact quote. I listened to it. And everybody on the staff listened to it. Stop walking on eggshells. The NBA treats its players great. They don't have to walk on eggshells every 15 minutes. Who gives a rip of Kevin Durant's offended? He dumped you. You won't rings with him. He dumped you. Which, by the way, I always support players in mobility. I, I support player empowerment. I am always for players moving. But there are no great business books that have ever been written in America titled,

Be Afraid of Your Employees and Walk on Eggshells. That's the key to business. That book's never going to get written. The NBA is now terrified of its players. Kyrie Irving decides again yesterday, I'm just not going to go on a road trip. Crickets? For multiple years, load management, stars, thank God, hardened and, LeBron love to play. Multiple stars. I don't want to play tonight. Saturday night games,

TV games. I don't want to play. Can you imagine Patrick Malm's doing that? Russell Wilson, Aaron Rogers, just not playing? I support players. But Steve Kerr's reaction was embarrassing. If Steve Kerr would have come up to me after a podcast and done that, I'd have told him to pound sand. That's what you said. I listened. We all listened. That's exactly what you said. coaches in the NBA are terrified of occasionally offending a star. Maybe that's why the NFL is pulling away. It's more relatable. I'm not anti-NBA.

I watch it every night in the season. I'm not anti-player. I am pro-mobility, pro-lebron. But stop being terrified of the players. You had a podcast. You said last year was a lot of fun. We lost a lot of games. The guys were all in.

Previous year was tough. And by the way, we all knew that. There was a book written about it. The turbulence with Kevin Durant's not new information. Ethan Strauss wrote a book. I forget the name of it, but it was the building and undoing of the Warrior Dynasty. It was written. It's documented.

We all knew. It's not a big surprise. But the fact that Steve Kerr, like American basketball royalty, is terrified of pushback because a former player who dumped him went to Twitter and goes, oh, come on, Steve, that's hilarious. Listen, you need structure in a business. There's the people that own the business, and then there's the management, and then there's the employees. And nobody disputes that in professional athletics, like we all go to watch the players.

But the truth is, you watch this show right now to watch me, not my management. I still have management. You know, like I know nobody's watching this because of my bosses. You're watching because of Joey and I are, you know, the production. but we sell bosses. There's still, the Murdoch family owns it. Then there's layers of management. Then there's employees well compensated.

But the NBA, right now, it's like, it's okay to push back. Like the NBA players did not want to go to the All-Star game. And Adam Silver said, no, we're going to the All-Star game. NBA players didn't want to condense season. Adam Silver said, guys, we need a season. And many times Adam Silver does this. And LeBron figured this out last year in the bubble. you want to play because if you don't play games,

then the owners have even more power based on the CBA, the collective bargaining. Remember last year, there was about a four or five day stretch that Kyrie Irving was talking about no players playing the season. And LeBron went, time out, time out, time out. We can't do this.

We have to play. And it ended up being a glorious, different but glorious season. So I just, can't imagine a hockey, a baseball, a soccer, any other sport where a coach who got dumped by a player goes on a podcast, it's there for you to listen, and then is outraged and deeply terrified that some blogger or writer says, here's what Steve said in a podcast, listen for yourself. I did.

My whole staff did. It wasn't taken out of context. It wasn't an offshoot. It wasn't outrageous. Toughen up. Steve Kerr-Aaron Rogers. Toughen up a little. It's okay. Occasionally, players aren't always right in any sport. All right. Mel Kuyper's got his latest mock draft.

I don't like getting trapped. I remember it was a long time ago.

It was playing a sports game and I hit a winning bucket and people piled on top of me. And I was like freaked out and hated it. And I thought, oh, I didn't even know what the word was called. I remember telling my mom at the time, she goes, oh, darling, you're proclosophobic. I don't like being trapped. I used to have nightmares about that. I don't anymore about being trapped, can't get out. Their walls are moving in or something.

I just don't like that. And it's interesting. The mock drafts are coming out now. And Mel Kuiper has one today. And the first four picks are all quarterbacks, which is not improbable because the quarterbacks matter. He has Jacksonville taking Trevor Lawrence and the Jets taking. Zach Wilson from PYU.

Then he has Justin Fields going to Carolina who moves up and gets Miami's pick and then Atlanta takes Trey Lance. If I'm Miami, I'm not sure I'm giving up that pick and I'm not so sure I'm not drafting Justin Fields because I don't want to get trapped. Listen, Miami could first just take a mulligan on this and do what Arizona did. Say, just listen, we drafted a pocket guy. the league's changing, we're going to go with Kyler Murray. You could do that with Justin Fields.

Justin Fields is bigger than Tua, stronger than Tua, faster than Tua, a bigger high-end arm than Tua. He's a better athlete than Tua. Tua has to, a play has to be designed for Tua and the play to work. It's very Derek Carr. It's very Kirk Cousins. It's not that way for Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray or a lot of times, Aaron Rogers.

They can go off script. Tua is more Kirk Cousins. It's more Derek Carr or Andy Dalton. Pressure equals trouble. Ad-libbing gets trouble. I mean, when Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced Tua last year at 38, he looks significantly more athletic than Tua. You could draft Justin Fields if you're Miami.

And if he doesn't look good in camp, you're not trapped. You could move Tua. You could move Justin Fields. But it's a bad quarterback college draft next year. And Miami's well-run enough and talented enough with Tua. They're not going to have a top 7-8 pick next year. This is the year. And there's a stat I just can't get out of.

If you look at Tua under pressure, and I know he's a rookie, and I know he's a kid, I get that. But Joe Burrell looked good by week two. By week two, Joy and I were like, whoa! Two under pressure is bad. 45 passer rating, 43% completion percentage. He is a player that you have to have a play designed for. And you can win games that way. That's very Jared Gough.

But the Rams moved off Jared Gough. And Arizona moved off Josh Allen. That pocket guy where it's all got to be perfect. Football's not perfect anymore. The athletes are getting bigger and stronger on the defensive front. offensive lines have less practice time. They're mostly getting worse. So the idea for Miami, I think I would take a quarterback.

I just don't want to be trapped. I don't want to be sitting there with Tua seven weeks in watching Josh Allen come into Miami and have so many more gifts and so much more talent and be bigger, stronger, faster with a better arm, and have Stefan Diggs and Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders, better online, good running game. He can play off script. And I have a small quarterback who if he has to and live, is very limited.

If he faces pressure, basically unravels. That's why I draft Justin Field. I just don't want to be trapped. You can move Justin Fields. Think about this. Next year is a bad college quarterback draft. If you have Justin Fields in camp and you've shown him off, in preseason.

And he's a couple of times had to come in for Tua and look pretty good. You're going to get your pick back. If you wanted to move him, you'll get value back. But if you move and give this pick, this number three pick to Carolina, you go in with Tua. And it doesn't work. What are you left with? You're in a division with the best football coach ever, Bill Belichick, and a quarterback that looks every bit as good as Patrick Mahalms named Josh Allen. And you're stuck with a 5-11-and-a-half guy that can't work off script.

I don't know. I'm Miami. I'm not moving that pick. I'm taking Justin Fields. Joy with the News. No. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news.

Are you claustrophobic, by the way? Not terribly. But I don't like the idea of, like, using Kill Bill, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. scene where they put Uma Thurman under the ground. Yes. Yeah. Like,

I can't watch that scene. I'm the same. I'm the same. So I saw, what was the movie I saw, Ann and I watched Netflix not long ago? There was a similar where somebody was asked, gosh, it was really a good show too. Somebody was asked to be buried while living. And I'm like, can't watch. Yeah, maybe I am claustrophobic, actually.

Like, I don't think about it. It doesn't give me active anxiety. But you've ever done like escape rooms? You've heard of those? I won't go to those. I'm like, you guys do this for fun? Like someone's not forcing you into this space? Joy, when I go to games, when I go to games and can buy a ticket, I buy an aisle seat.

Oh, yeah. Oh, in plane, I have to have an aisle seat. Yeah, on planes, I get an aisle seat. Yeah, I can't do windows. If we land in the Hudson, I'm out. I'm not going to be trapped on the window. I am out. I just, yeah, so maybe I am claustrophobic, actually.

I think that's what we learned. I think about it all the time. So there's a movie escape room. and I can't it's I mean it's not really like terrifying but because they're stuck in rooms it like my hands will sweat watching it I think this will be learned today I am one of the reasons when I drive on the freeway I don't drive in the middle lane I'm always on the right why I can take an exit I think car wreck I might have issues I think about it all I don't like being trapped and it's just it's sometimes it's metaphorical but even in my car on a plane if I ran an NFL team you want to go into week

seven and two is not the guy and you're too good to get a top pick and next year's a bad draft you are trapped for two years i agree it's not it's not a good idea and then the worst part of doing that is if that you end up in the middle of the road 15th pick and you can't you can't course correct yeah i mean because again the reality nobody in this league wants to do good coaches favor so if you have the 16th or 15th pick and there's like two marginal quarterbacks yeah they're going make you pay a haul. Where are you? Justin Fields is movable if you get him in and don't like him, or you get him in and two of flourishes. You can still move him. I agree. So the Pact 12 has been the surprise of the men's NCAA tournament so far. Four of the five teams made it from the conference,

Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and USC of all advanced to the Sweet 16. The Big Ten, on the other hand, is not having a great showing. They got nine teams into the field of 68. Only Michigan remains, who was very impressive. PAC 12 has a 9-1 record in the tournament so far. The only team to lose was five-seed Colorado. Big Ten losses, Illinois, Ohio State, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Maryland, and Michigan State. Like USC in Oregon look the part.

They're athletic, they're long, they've got an NBA. You know, USC's got a couple Mobley kid, Evan Mobley. But UCLA was a bad basketball team at the end of the season. That is hard for me to get. First of all, UCLA had this great point guard recruit, and then he went to the G League. So he was going to go to UCLA, and he said, I'm going to go to the G League. So the season started with kind of a thud. Then they have a couple of bigs missing.

They were bad at the end of the season. How the hell are they winning games in this tournament? I don't know. Pack 12's got it going on. Five of the six, Pac-12 teams remain for the women as well. Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA and Arizona. Stanford's the number one overall seat in Gonzaga, obviously, beat Oklahoma, 8771. advance of Sweet 16. West is best this year.

This is getting interesting. So Antonio Brown is still a free agent, but he doesn't seem to be too worried about his situation. He said on an Instagram live recently that he believes he will work out a way to stay in Tampa, but Russell Wilson is apparently still trying to get AB to Seattle. Russ publicly lobbied for him last year and is reportedly trying to get the Seahawks to sign him again. I actually, similar to last year, this was the only other place that I thought Antonio Brown would work because they do have a good culture. Russell Wilson is obviously very involved or wants to be very involved in how everything works

there. He would, he's a number three receiver at this point. He's not a number one and he works perfectly out. Well, not on Tampa or Seattle's not a one. No way. No. Well, I just don't know if he is a number one receiver for off the field and personality reasons. Like to be the number one receiver, you are a face of the organization. But he played that role perfectly last year. It worked out well. He contributed in the Super Bowl, five catches, 22 yards in a touchdown and throughout the season. And he could replace David Moore, Seattle's former number three receiver who just recently signed with the Panthers. This would be a good fit for him if it doesn't work out with Tampa Bay.

Yeah. And I also think with his personality, one of the reasons he worked in Tampa, but he wasn't needed as much. He had to kind of find his space in Seattle, D.K. Metcalfe, and it's a franchise that likes to run the ball. And Tyler Lockett. Yeah. And they have a kid Swain and they drafted out of Florida they like. So, yeah, yeah, it's one of the ones that works.

So you love Kyle Pitts. Florida tight ends. I think he, if Trevor Lawrence wasn't in the draft, you would have to consider him for the number one pick. I think he's that great. Well, he continues to impress as he gets closer to the NFL draft. clocked an unofficial 40-yard dash time of 4-4-6. Good.

As a tight end. As a tight end. You're shown the video now. He's such a great athlete. You know, this goes back. Remember a couple years ago. It was like two years ago. Quentin Nelson was a guard.

And everybody's like, you can't draft a guard top 10. And like literally six games in, everybody's on the internet. Like, oh, he's pancaking pro-bowl defensive lineman. And then, by the way, Chase Young, if you go back to the guys that look different. So Zion looked different. There were no college players look like Zion. He's been dominant. Chase Young did not look like a college football player.

He's been dominant. Quentin Nelson didn't even compare to other college football player. He was dominant. It's like taking the guy that is just like physically different has worked out. And many people are saying he's the best past catcher. Yeah, he's the best receiver in the draft. And he certainly can take a receiver top. I don't know what these rules are.

Everyone has all these unwritten rules. You can't do this. You absolutely can. And if it ends up working out and this is someone that contributes at a high level, what difference does it make if you took them in top 10 or you took him later in the first round and the second round? So in 2018, Quentin Nelson was taken. 2019 Nick Bosa and 2020 Chase Young. They were all the clearly best athlete.

All three made the playoffs. Now, maybe it's total coincidence. But just think about this. if Kyle Pitt, Kyle Pitts went to a New York Giants, I could argue that is the best. Now, that's 11, so he wouldn't go that far. But even if you went to Joe Burrow at 5, you'd be like, Joe Burrow has T. Higgins and Kyle Pitts and Joe Mixon. You get your offensive lineman later. Like, I think this kid literally is a transformational 75 catch.

I think Chase Young is a good example because some people were like, We knew he was the best. He was going to work, right? If you didn't need a quarterback, he was going to work. And also Washington had a good defensive line. But Ron Rivera's like, he doesn't look like a college. No, we all know he is an NFL player right now. I agree with you.

I don't think it's a stretch at all for him to go in the top five. I mean, he's an incredible athlete. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurdline News. Because I have this theory now with some of these non-power five schools and the way that their personnel is. Like, should NBA teams start looking at less attractive players?

Because every one of these teams has a guy that you're like, who, it's like a creative player. And I didn't know if you were inspired by the success of some of these. non-traditional programs to go with kind of like, you know, a power forward look today. No, I wasn't really inspired by anything. I stopped shaving during a ski trip and I just never decided to buy another razor. I wish it was inspiring. I'd really be a better story, actually, than the one. I started my show today talking about this is that there's never been a great management book ever written titled, Let Employees Walk Over Management. That's the key to success.

and I think to myself, listen, I'm for player empowerment. I'm for player mobility. But the fact that Steve Kerr was outraged because of a tweet and a podcast, which I listened to last night, and he kind of said what he said he didn't say. And I'm thinking, KD. Dummchew, who gives a rip if he's offended? Has the NBA gotten to a point where labor has too much power over coaches and management? Yeah, see, the part of over coaches, I don't know that this is ever new, right? I mean, this has been going on for decades where the players, if they're like, look, we want to move on from this guy.

The player's going to get his way if he has enough juice. I think the last 10 years we've certainly seen more of it happen with the players, depending on how much time they have left in the contracts. Like, I was joking around with Simmons the other day. I go, I want to see who sets a record for like four years left on his deal and goes, you know what, I think I'm out of here. Because I think each guy is different. Each situation is different. You know, look at an NFL NBA one. You know, Anthony Davis, some people understood it with Hardin. It was like, hey, you just, you got two years left on this.

Where in the NFL with Deshaun Watson, everybody's like, yeah, man, the Texans are a mess. I don't have a problem with him moving on. So I think each scenario is a little different. But as far as like the Kerr and the Durant part of it, Durant being a free agent, you know, Kerr, I think all of that, I mean, I can answer the question in saying, yeah, I don't know that you should just want a free-for-all where every player can dictate terms the entire time and no one's ever on the same page. it could be nice with an organization of everyone's rowing in the same direction in principle. But the Kerr part of him being upset, Colin, I think it had more to do with the specific reporter

that he was upset about over a longer period of time. So that's why I think it felt a little bit more personal. All right, fair enough. So, you know, I saw a story today where Aaron Rogers, they're considering restructuring his deal because they'd like to give the Packers more, you know, flexibility and free agency. And my takeaway was, little late, fellas. I look at Aaron and I think to myself, okay, you didn't keep Jared Cook,

you didn't keep Lindley, you didn't get Watt, thank God Aaron Jones, who could have gone into the market and got more money, decided to stay. You didn't tell me when Van Pelt, the quarterback coach, was leaving. I don't have to be a bad employee, but I'm not going to cut you any favors

when you drafted Jordan Love in the first round. Brady said to Garapolo, get him out of town. Russell named teams. Dak got everything he wanted. I could make an argument. Aaron's been the most talented NFC quarterback for 10 years, and he's not gotten much he wanted, right?

Like, isn't he the last guy that should give a team a little bit of a break in the cap? Well, the Brady standard has always been weird. Now, people have always gone, like, why would he keep doing that? And that's why I would also turn into Brady who would vent to people that he really trusted about, like, wait a minute, we're not going to get anybody a receiver again, I'm the one taking the discount. Like Bill's not taking a discount. So why am I constantly taking?

Like, where's the discount going? Like, what are we doing? So with Rogers, you know, I think it's more of something you were team up a little bit more is that I think Brady going to Tampa and getting everything he wanted. Like they did it. Whatever Brady wanted. Right. They did it. Why wouldn't Rogers at some point go, maybe I need to go ahead and do something like that?

Right. I think that's like how we just talked about the NBA part? of this, Colin, and the empowerment, like, hey, well, this guy just went there. And if Durant can go ahead and leave and he can go to this team or if this guy can ask for a trade, I guess we can all just ask for trades. Well, if Brady, in a non-football way, just goes, yeah, I'm just going to call my own shot. I'm out of here. And by the way, if the Pats had offered him more, he still would have stayed.

But they didn't. They got weird with the contract. We probably knew maybe a year prior. He was like, this is probably going to be my last season. So I think that kind of opens up the doors for a Rogers move, a pivot later in his career, because other quarterbacks may start looking around going, all right, man, I've been here really long time and it hasn't worked out the way I wanted to. Although they're still good. Like, you know, he lost to Brady last year. It's not like it's this eight and eight disaster

up in Green Bay, Colin, that I think it feels like, okay, so who are we supposed to blame here when they've still been a really good football team? So, um, I said earlier, uh, I was being vulnerable. I said on claustrophobic. I stay in the right lane on a freeway for exits. I always buy an aisle seat in a plane. Always. It's weird. I always do. I look at the dolphins and I think myself, I've got the third pick. I'm taking Justin Fields. I'm not going to get trapped with Tua. It's a bad quarterback draft class. I'm not getting trapped. If Fields is better, good. If he's not, I'll move him. But this idea, I went and looked at Tua's stats last year under pressure. He's terrible. He's not a backup. What would you do if you have Miami in the number three pick?

Last year it was bad with Tua. I'm not going to debate you on that at all, but we both watched him in college, and I can't believe the guy in college is the guy that I saw with the dolphins, and I understand the NFL's harder, but I also felt like the Dolphins didn't trust him, the play calling at the goal line all the time. I'd be like, you guys didn't even trust him to make any kind of read on this.

It's either a fader they run the football up the middle. I'm not going to tell you that last year was good, but there's no way I can take a quarterback this quickly at number three. I just can't. I can't. Because now that's basically, like for everybody that says, oh, just keep drafting, keep drafting, or the year the Browns had the first and fourth pick. It's like, just take two.

That way you can't leave. There's a human element to this where all of a sudden you've changed the entire dynamic of the position in your team. If you're bringing in somebody with less than a full season into Tua's career. I mean, yeah, I know he's been there, but he didn't play even a full season. So if you already do that to him, you're changing reps. You're constantly inviting all of this noise into your. locker room where some franchises can handle it by ignoring it and others can't. Maybe two is strong enough that it wouldn't even matter.

But despite me agreeing with you and how bad it looked, I'm still hoping that that guy from Alabama exists and I wouldn't want to derail it this soon with a pick that high. Yeah. By the way, Kyle Pitts tied in. If Trevor Lawrence goes one, got it. Joey and I talk about this all the time. The draft always has one guy that doesn't look like a college athlete. Chase Young, Quentin Nelson, you're like, okay, that's an NFL player in college.

And you get, I remember Patrick Willis out of Old Miss. I had a scout tell me, he's like, he's the best player in the draft. It's just at linebacker, he's not going to go top five. Like, he's the best player in the draft. I look at Kyle Pitts, and I think to myself, go to the last four Super Bowls. Tide ends are hugely important. If Trevor wasn't available, I would have no problem taking him to. Where are you on the rules of who you can.

take who you can't and you're and you watch a lot of SEC football I don't think I've seen a tight end like Kyle Pitts ever I don't remember maybe Kellen Winslow your thoughts on him yeah he's special I mean he's just running free all the time and it wasn't automatic you know it was also I think huge credit to Jim Allen and that staff down there the way they started evolving I mean Trask looked like he was being mentioned as a first rounder at times you know and you're like wait this is the guy that was was was the backup only a couple years ago so when I when I watch watch Pitts. I mean, he just,

it would be like this receiver, right? Remember Peter Warwick, who's one of my favorite college football players? Yeah. Florida State. Peter Warwick looked like a kid whose parents lied on the birth certificate

and used football when he played a Florida State. And Pitts has these moments where you just go, all right, you can see the line of scrimmage. Like, this isn't going to work. And he's bigger and he's faster. And, you know, look,

I still held out a lot of hope for Peter Warwick's NFL career. But he was that dominant. but yet Pitts reminds me of just this guy that looks unfair compared to everybody else. Yeah. Yeah. There's a Zion quality where you're like, all right, he just got good DNA, man. Guy this looks different. And by the way, most of those guys come into their sports, Zion, Quentin Nelson,

Get a free security camera today. So a story today out that Russell Wilson wants to sign Antonio Brown, who believes most people think he's going to stay. in Tampa. Russell Wilson's been, you know, pretty unhappy and outspoken this off season. I'm a fan of Russell. I know him. I like him. I like his people. Aaron Rogers can wear me out,

but I will say Russell and Aaron have been the two most talented quarterbacks for the last six years in the NFC. In between the two of them, zero Super Bowl appearances. Meanwhile, Jared Goff got there and Cam Newton got there, and Nick Fulz got there, and Matt Ryan got there, and Jimmy Garoppel got there. And there's mostly a reason. Aaron and Russell are now very expensive. And over the last couple of years, you can see the growing frustration with Russell Wilson and Aaron Rogers, despite the fact that Aaron was 13 and 3 and got to the NFC championship for the second year in a row. And Russell was 12 and 4 and has a great team and always wins. But they're frustrated. And part of the frustration is they look at Tom Brady, who's not only got a trophy room, not a trophy case, but they look at this Tampa roster and it's stacked.

It looks like an All-Star team. and they re-signed all of them. And there's a reason because Tom Brady for 18 years has taken pay cuts, even pre-Giselle. Tom Brady, who looks happy all the time, made a decision years ago

that happiness would not be defined by money. It would be defined by winning. And so even on his first big contract, he took less. And Tom generally looks very happy. And errands in back-to-back conference, championships and isn't and Russell is 12 and 4 and isn't. But the reality is Russell Wilson's expensive.

Tom Brady is only $9 million against the cap. Russell's $32 million against the cap this year, $37 million, four times Brady next year, and then $40 million against the cap. We know now that Russell, I think, is number two or three in the league in Instagram, meaning Russell can make millions a year on the Instagram. We know that Dak Prescott made $50 million his first three years out of football as a fourth-round pick. Not the most talented guy in the offense. Like, if you want to get happy in life, then you have to decide what makes you happy.

Aaron has enough money now. He could never spend it. Russell's got enough money now. He could never spend it. What makes you happy? So the reason Brady has an all-star team, and he does. It looks like an all-star team. They're good everywhere.

I mean, what does Tampa need in the draft? They don't even need a kicker. They don't need anything because they re-signed everybody. Because Tom's making $9 million a year. Well, Giselle. Tom was taking pay cuts before that. Tom decided winning made him happy. All right.

And so that's the decision he's made. Russell's, these quarterbacks now can make so much money. I mean, I don't even know what Aaron Rogers makes. on his state farm stuff. I'll just take a guess. 10 million a year. I'm just throwing it out there. But if Dax's making 50 million in three years,

what is Aaron making on that state farm commercial? And I don't begrudge guys making money. But Russell was getting to Super Bowls, and then he signed a four-year $90 million deal. And now he doesn't. And when you watch Green Bay and you watch Seattle, doesn't it always feel like? It does to me.

At the end of the year, Seattle could just use like two more really good players. And Aaron Rogers could really use J.J. Watt and a number two. But they can't afford Emmanuel Sanders and J.J. Watt in Green Bay. And Russell can't afford a Kareem Hunt at running back on top of the running backs he has. So you've got to decide what makes you happy. And, you know, Antonio Brown is not really a need for Seattle. I do think their culture would allow it to work. But it does feel like Seattle is a player too shy every year.

And it does feel like Green Bay is. And it doesn't with Tampa and Tom. That's why, as Ryan Rusillo said, Brady got so frustrated in New England. He's like, I'm taking pay cuts. Where are my guys? Then he goes to Tampa. And it's like, oh, when you're paying your quarterback, $9 million, you get a sign everybody. It's not that difficult.
