But now I am told we are welcoming back in our audience from the Bristol races is joining a show now. And hello. And with that, we bring on our Mr. Information, Peter Schrager, Fox Sports NFL reporters. All right. Time to get rolling on this stuff.

So why did the Niners trade up Friday? to the number three pick, Shregs. First off, congratulations to Martin Truex, Jr., a Jersey guy. We'll go next to this on the Niners, though. This was the big trade. 49ers move up, and everyone's like, it has to be for a single quarterback. There's got to be a guy that they love. Truth the matter was there's a lot of teams, the Panthers, Washington, Broncos,

this is good to look at this, that might be in the market for quarterback. What the 49ers did was they put them in the best position possible to at least get a quarterback they like, which means they love at least three of these guys. You have to assume Lawrence goes one to the Jaguars. Zach Wilson, the stud at a BYU, you had an incredible pro d'A on Friday, goes two to the Jets.

The 49ers. Now, I don't know if it's Lance out of North Dakota State who has some holes in his game. Mack Jones, the Alabama quarterback, who is quickly rising up draft boards because of a phenomenal pro day and so many interviews that he's been given or even Justin Fields from Ohio State,

but at the very least, the Niners said, okay, we've got Jimmy Garoppolo under contract for one more year. Let's at least trade up to the three, knowing we can get one of the guys that we really like. What else has got play here is they brought everybody back. Like the Niners brought back Trent Williams. They brought back Kyle U's check. They got Jason Verrett. They got all these guys that they liked and they wanted to bring back and keep and they have.

If they can keep a quarterback that they want for the future at a rookie deal for the next four or five years, that puts them in a good place where they can resign these other guys. it's a really smart move. It's an aggressive move. You're giving up draft picks of the future. But from what I hear, and Colin, this is going to be revisited 12 months from now, I'm sure. This year's quarterback draft group is significantly higher regarded than next year's quarterback draft group. So in a way, this isn't necessarily a strictly 20-21 move. This is a 49ers building for the future saying, let's get our quarterback now, let's get them on the team, let's get them under contract, and we'll deal with Garapolo and how we want to handle that over

the next few months, but there is a good chance that Jimmy G is on the roster and playing this year, and they also draft a quarterback third overall. Any chance they take Mack Jones, the Alabama quarterback? Yeah, and Colin, this is the buzz right now, that he fits what Kyle Shanahan does. And what's that mean? Well, he's athletic enough where he can move. He's cerebral, and he comes from an offense that is pro-ready, that this is the Steve Sarkisian offense. It's exactly what Kyle Shanahan wants to see. And the people that are, are saying it. I always try to connect the dots here. Is it a blogger? Is it a person that's on Twitter that I don't value? No, it's Chris Sims, who is Kyle Shanahan's college roommate. No, it's Dan Orlovsky who played

for Kyle Shanahan in Houston. No, it's Mike Silver who has been covering the Shanahan's for decades. It doesn't come out of thin air, and I don't think they're all in some sort of agreement to build up Mack Jones so they could take somebody else. The people that know Kyle Shanahan well and know his offense well, I seem to be saying Mac Jones, when a couple weeks ago, Mac Jones was the fifth quarterback in this class behind Tray Lance, behind fields. I think there is a lot of juice to this Mac Jones talk. I will tell you this. I think the Niners are going quarterback at three.

And I know all those guys, Lynch, Shanahan, Mike McDaniel. I don't know who they're taking yet, but I wouldn't dismiss this Mac Jones stuff as a smokescreen. I think Mac Jones is a lot to show. He's throwing again tomorrow at an Alabama pro. He's going to throw more than he threw last week. I think his draft stock could be rising, and it's one of those deals where, wait a second, why are we overlooking this guy? He just dominated at Alabama against real competition when some of these other guys, they didn't play against real competition.

They may not be ready right away. Zach Wilson, is he a lock to go number two to the Jets? I never say a lock, but I think it looks a lot more likely today than it did a couple weeks ago. And I know that a lot of San Darnold fans out there are saying, well, they didn't trade Sam Darnold. I don't know if Sam Darnold had the market. during free agency while everyone was signing guys. This is him right there. I don't even, he looks like he looks like he belongs on home improvement.

He looks like one of those kids. And he's got a, I want to say a cherub is the word, but he's got this bright-eyed face. It's a cool story. Last year, he wasn't necessarily the starter. He was overcoming an injury and he won the job and then put on an absolute show. And I know a lot of teams flew out there thinking, all right, we'll fly out there. And then came back saying, there's no way he gets out of number two.

He's going on the jet. So around the league, the feeling. is he's going two to the Jets. And it could be a similar situation as what I just laid out for San Francisco where he goes to the Jets. They still have Donald on the rookie contract for another year.

Maybe it's one of these deals where it's like he didn't play anybody last year and he didn't. He did not play against the same competition that Mac Jones did. Maybe it's one of those Alex Smith Mahomes type years and you tell Sam Donald, you say, hey look, you got a year audition

for the rest of the league. You're not going to be our starter long term but go and do whatever you want to do and let this kid learn underneath them. But I would think right now if I'm doing a mock draft at the end of March, I've got Zach Wilson, two to the Jets, and I'm not too worried about that decision.

By the way, this is something I brought up. The trade value for Darnold isn't great, but they add so many free agent and draft pieces. This could be a very interesting team. Let Darnold play for seven weeks. All of a sudden, they're five and two. Sam Darnold's going to get your first round pick if you're a Washington or another team.

So I agree with you. This idea that Darnold has to go, hey, Jimmy G, Darnold, let them play for seven weeks get off to a good start they become first round picks and i would be honest with them colin i would say to sam darnald say look you're not the quarterback of our future but we want you here for this year and we want you to put on a show have an audition like go nuts this year you've got all these new players you've got cori davis you got the new running back you got the new run go have a great season and either a will trade you before the deadline or be better yet you sign a

make a deal in free agency. You have to be devoid of ego in this league. And I think Tribisky is a good example of, hey, we're bringing you back. You go to the playoffs. In the following year, you're a free agent signing for $2 million. It's just how it goes sometimes. But the other way of it is you look at Tannahill, you look at some of these other guys, have a great season and go make money elsewhere and go ball out for another team if that's what happens. Which quarterback prospect? I mean, listen, Dak went in the fourth round, Russell Wilson in the third. We know Brady's story. There's always somebody in the third or fourth round that can play. Who is it this year? I think the Stanford quarterback's interesting. Probably not a first round pick.

Davis Mills is his name. Really smart, really good, moves well. Had a really good pro day in the rain. And a lot of teams are saying to me, like, all right, you've got that top five, but like this guy is one of those that'll go early second. When I hear that in March, that means late first. You know, like if everyone's saying, well, he's the early second guy. Usually that guy gets bumped up in someone trades up to get him in the first round. I didn't watch a ton of him in college, and I got to admittedly say with the PAC 12 with how wacky their season was,

with games and not games, like it didn't do him a ton of favors. One of those guys that teams are going to say, all right, it's a value, let's go get him. This guy is smart, can play, and was one of the top high school recruits in the country. By the way, the Tua thing's interesting.

Dolphins basically trade out. They're going to go with Tua. You shocked it all by that? A little bit. A little bit because the last two times we saw Tua, he was getting benched week 16, and then week 17, couldn't get the job done. I'm not sold on him 100% yet,

and I get crushed by Dolphins fans saying, what's your gripe against Tua? There's no gripe. I just haven't seen it yet, but they're essentially saying, let's go get a wide receiver or a tight end, then we're going to trade back to the 12th pick, and we're pretty content with Tua.

So I trust Brian Flores. He knows what he has, but in the biggest moment, he went to Ryan Fitzpatrick over Tua. Yeah. By the way, the Eagles trade out of 6 to 12, so that means they're all in on Jalen Hertz, right? Yeah, I think,

so as well. They would have stayed there at six and said they trade back to 12. They're looking at this class. And here's where the Eagles. I've spoken to guys there. It's like, we've got 11 picks this year. If Carson Wentz plays 75% of his snaps, we have three picks next year in the first round. So as much as we're in salary cap hell and all the things that you can say about, oh gosh, what happened to this team overnight, they're pretty set with an opportunity to build a young, inexpensive team over the next two years. So whereas I think the dolphins are all in on Tua, I would say Jalen Hertz might be the quarterback for 2021. But if they have three first round picks next year, the Eagles might be looking at all positions in

Greedy. Adela Marcus Aldridge this weekend. Some fans were criticizing Kevin Durant's for once again building a super team. Well, they were. They were trolling him. They were trolling him. One person tweeted him. I see you really can't lead him.

team on your own, which doesn't really make any sense, but he's trying to say that he needs a bunch of help. Katie responded saying, I'll never be able to do anything that I really want to do on earth by myself. Which is a very good response. What's happening with the Brooklyn Nats is interesting, though.

Because obviously people claim to hate super teams, which you really don't. You love to hate super teams. You're jealous of them. They're jealous of them, yes, which creates for great debates and contents and viewership. And if it's your team, you love it. But we kind of felt like we got away from these super teams

when Kauai went to the Clippers. Right. So it became like a two-star league. Right. The duo league. And that went away very quickly. Because it didn't work. Because it didn't work.

And people still wanted to play together. So now you have Katie, Kyrie, and Hardin. I never understand fans. So college fans, Ohio State fan, Alabama fan, Oklahoma fan, they love when all their stars, high school stars come to them and guarantee they win the conference. They never get tired of that. But if an NBA star joins forces, it ruins the league. Folks, Alabama is going to be in the national championship again next year. It doesn't seem to bother you in college sports when the same four programs in football dominate.

eliminate recruiting and get all the best players. It's funny out works. It's when you're not on the team. But I do think this actually what's happening with Brooklyn is a bigger reflection on how things fell apart in Golden State. Because for KD specifically, there was kind of this feeling like he felt like he went to a team that was already established, was already winning. He was an addition and then, you know, obviously got them more championships. And wasn't the best player. Like, obviously.

He won finals MVP twice. Right. But now he's with the Nets and there is another super team. So, you know, you were very critical of him leaving Golden State. You felt like it was a better situation to stay. So he must have been really unhappy because he's kind of building the same setup. Yeah, I mean, listen, you can't be too, I had this conversation with somebody over the weekend in life, like all this gambling stuff that's happening in sports. Right.

And I'm like, well, it's gambling. I'm like, okay, it's a gold rush. Are you want to be on the outside of the gold rush or on the inside? Right. So grab your picks and axes and your gold, what you call those dishes, the pans. Because here comes the gold rush for sports gambling. You can sit on the outside and lecture those who are being paid by companies. It's the same thing here.

We can talk about these players joining forces. Who gives a rip? Do you want to win titles or not? Do you want trophies or not? And the answer is, yeah. So who cares if you join forces? And I think specifically with the NBA, people forget because it's such a, it's not going to forget. They just push it aside.

Because it's such a star-driven league, and each of these leagues are different. Professional basketball has a completely different culture than college basketball, even though in essence they're the same sport. Same with the NFL and college football and high school football and pee-wee football. Like it's a different culture at different levels. It's still a team game. It's still a team game, and that's KD's point. I can't do this by myself.

What do I have to do to prove I'm a great player? I have to literally play with a bunch of scrubs and win a championship? Nobody does that. Well, by the way, baseball and football, have no problem with a player going to the Yankees because he knows. I mean, if you're a baseball player, Robinson Canoe goes to the Mariners. When they pay him that, they can no longer pay for a number two or three starter. They can't pay for a center fielder.

When the twins pay Joe Mower, you're done. You can't compete for years. The reality is there are about three baseball teams that can pay you 30 million a year like the Dodgers and have a bunch of stars. So, I mean, to me, driving to work, I was talking about you the other day to something. I said, joy makes my life easier. And I said, why would I want to drive to work and make it be hard? I'm like, intentionally difficult.

I want four guests instead of three and joy instead of no joy. Why? Because it's easier. Like at some point in my life, I don't want a hammer on the head every day filling three and a half hours of content. Like I'm looking for better people and more fun guests. And these athletes, I always said, Kobe wanted to be the man. They want to be the only man.

It's as if everyone has to prove something to you, the Twitter guy. Like, prove to me you're really this good by all you're suffering. By the way, anybody in life in any industry, go work with better people. It's a way better life and less stressful. Go upgrade to a better company with better coworkers. It's a similar concept. So the Giants haven't had a winning season since 2016. Owner John Mara is starting to get frustrated with the losing.

but he does believe the team is moving in the right direction. He said, I'd be very disappointed if things don't turn around quickly. I'm starting to get impatient. I'm not saying we have to make the playoffs this year. I never want to be in that business. But looking at the players we have added, I think there's reason to think we'll be in the playoffs sooner rather than later. Oh, absolutely. This year in that division, they need to make the playoffs.

He also believes Daniel Jones will one day win the Super Bowl. Okay, let's slow down. I said, yes, I can say that without any hesitation. Oh, okay. So they are all in on Daniel Jones. I may want to hesitate a little on that. Well, I think that Dave Gettleman has done a good job with the roster. I think he overpaid for a Dory Jackson.

They are 15 and 33 under him since 2018. I do think this is a really important year for the Giants. That's not a, that statement doesn't really, it has a little bit of loaded language in it. Can we get Gettlement on the show? I've been very critical of Gettleman, but then last year I was like, He had a pretty good year. So see if he'll come on the show. Now, he may hate me.

Hard to figure. But if he would come on the show, I want Gettlement. Well, last year was a rough go for the Giants. But I thought they had a whole division. I like their draft. Yes, I think this is a year where they need to take a significant step up. The whole division is going to be better than it was last year. Everyone keeps talking about how terrible the division is.

Doc Prescott is back. The Eagles are going on on Jalen Hertz. They have a million draft picks. Daniel Jones is getting Sakel on Barclay back. They've made a lot of moves in the offseason. Washington won the division last year. I don't know if they're doing a quarterback, but they're still bringing that defense back.

I love the Kyle Rudolph move. I think you can validate absolutely the Kenny Galdi move. I think they overpaid for Dory Jackson, but it really clarifies their draft. Go get to offensive linemen. It makes their draft really simple. Maybe add another corner maybe and fix the O line. You're good.

And they have a year to find out what they have in Daniel Jones. Thanksgiving. I'm not giving them a year. Oh, yeah. Right. I'm selling my stock. By the time I grabbed that turkey leg, I've made a decision. I forgot about that.

Yep. Thanksgiving. Clock's on. That's the rule. You don't even have to have a winning record. You've got to be able to show me you can play. Do we come over the third rule? That. Daniel Jones by Thanksgiving.

Can't criticize Aaron Rogers if he loses a Tampa. Yeah. What's my third rule? Oh, you're not moving again. No one believes that. I'm not moving again. The last three weeks. Finally, the men's and women's NCAA tournaments continue today with the

Elite 8, Oregon State in Houston and Arkansas and Baylor. Tiff off for the men tonight, USC and Gonzaga and UCLA, Michigan tomorrow night. And for the women, Baylor and Yukon and Indiana and Arizona face off tonight. And Texas and

South Carolina and Louisville and Stanford round up the matches tomorrow. So we are in the elite eight for the tournaments and have had some great games. Pac-12 dominating. I think the Pac-12, Joy, I think Oregon State and UCLA, I think they've hit their ceiling.

I think Michigan is going to beat UCLA, and I think Oregon State's been a great story. UCLA against Michigan would be a... I don't know how they win that game. Michigan's really good. You know, one of the surprises of the tournament to me past the first night or two, Michigan pumped Florida State.

And I mean Florida State was all sorts of out of it, eight minutes in. They were terrible, sloppy, couldn't hit shot. Like Michigan just undrified. Florida State. That shocked me. Michigan has been a great story. The great story. They don't, yeah, lost one of their best players.

Because I fall, it's funny, I don't watch a ton of college basketball until like March. I just, we're busy. And all of a sudden March hits, and it's amazing how fast I get back into college basketball. It takes me like two games. Last weekend, boom, totally in. So I get a lot of, I get a lot of crap from my daughter because I put my feet, my bare feet on Twitter. She's like, Dad, that's gross. And I'm like, people put their whole bodies on Twitter. I just put my feet. and as Ryan pointed out, 50-50 that I have a cocktail right next to it. I was unaware of Colin Foot Twitter.

Bucky Brooks just walked in the studio because he's going to be on speak for yourself in a few minutes after us. So what do you make of it? Is it a thing? I don't even think anything else. Well, I mean, the feet thing is a weird thing. I'm very conscious about putting my feet anywhere on the internet. I have beautiful feet. I have amazing feet, which is why I keep them off the internet.

Like size 12, beautiful. It's so weird. Okay. Why is it so weird? feet. Listen, I don't want to get into it. Okay. It's the thing.

You don't know about the feet Twitter thing? No. Not really aware of it. It's too late because you've already given up your feet to the internet. All right. Up Down Sideways. Quarterback edition. Joy is going to team me up.

These are the quarterbacks that have been in the news talked about in the offseason. Jimmy Garapolo, trending up, down or sideways? I think Jimmy Garapolo is trending down. Obviously, the Niners moved up. to the number three spot. Just to show you how rare that is, if the Niners draft a quarterback, and they will with a number three pick. First time, history of the league,

but a team within two years of being in a Super Bowl drafted a quarterback in a top three pick. So it is an aggressive move to move off Jimmy Caroplo. Tua, trending up, down, or sideways? Well, I think he's trending down. Now, the good news is the dolphins moved out of the three spots, so he's going to start. But I think there's a reality now that he's,

He has the second fewest passing yards in the league for any quarterback that took snaps. They benched him twice in the fourth quarter. And for the first time, there is criticism around Tua, who was mostly a door. He's got a very likable, engaging personality. Now, the good news is, at the number six spot, they can get Kyle Pitts, Jalen Waddle, Devante Smith. They've already added Will Fuller. So they're going to give him every shot, which I actually do think is a sign, is they want to help him. They want to make this as comfortable and easy as possible.

So it tells you they're going all in by who they're going to surround him with. They're going to do a lot. I'm told, expect a lot of offensive pieces in the draft. Jalen Hertz up, down or sideways. A little sideways on this. So they bring in Joe Flacco, who's a totally different style as a backup saying, hey, we just may bail on this style. Secondly, they haven't surrounded him with anything.

Now, they didn't move out of their draft spot to move back to 12. So they're not going to get a quarterback. So there is some support. But I thought flakos are really interesting acquisition. He is not Jalen Hertz. He is the opposite. And they haven't really surrounded him with anything in free agency. So is this a, all right, we'll give it a run, but we don't truly believe it.

I think he's trending sideways. Sam Darnold, up down or sideways. Trending down. Listen, it really comes down to this. is that any team that trades for Darnold will have to decide on his fifth-year option to pick it up or not by May 3rd. And that's $19 million, just shy of it guaranteed. So that's what it comes down to. If you get him, you got to pay him $19 million, which I don't think is outrageous for a 23-year-old kid.

The Jets reportedly are being stubborn, but according to Kimberly Martin, there are teams that wouldn't give more than a $4.5.5. four for him, which is slander. Tom Brady, up, down, or sideways? Tom is perpetually trending up. And I do think what you're seeing, it's very Kevin Durant and LeBron. People are taking pay cuts to play with him. And Tampa's always been one of those places where it's a big city, so you have the allure of the big city with no state tax.

It's a reasonably priced market. So I think when you look at the contracts, it speaks well of Tom. People are willing to take pay cuts to play with LeBron, Durant, or Tom. Russell Wilson, up down or sideways? People would say training down. I'll go sideways, though, because I really do think the Gerald Everett acquisition at tight end is a real gift. He kind of got lost in the Rams crowded offensive weaponry.

But Gabe Jackson's an upgrade on the offensive line. They also re-signed Chris Carson and their fullback. So we can say what we want, but this is a 12 and 14 that is better today offensively on the O line and at tight end. and they also brought back Carlos Dunlap. So I think they have placated Russell to some degree. Zach Wilson, up down or sideways. Trending up, I mean, listen, he had a good pro day.

I think it's total nonsense. But if you go look at his last year, you know, there's some injury concerns. I would have those. I think he's slight or slender. I have concerns about that. But he did have 43 total touchdowns and three picks in his last year at BYU.

A lot of Western quarterbacks have done great things in the NFL. He did have a good pro day. So he sounds like it feels like a lock to the Jets too. Trey Lance up down or sideways. Well, trending up. Now, there are people that are saying that Mac Jones is a smokescreen and the Niners actually like Trey Lance. Now, to me, Trey Lance is the most impressive quarterback outside of Trevor Lawrence

just in sheer size and strength and mobility. I think Lawrence, Trevor Lawrence, a different category. Trey's hard to take your eyes off of. He had to call protections at the line of scrimmage. Just a very effortless, easy throw. It's a very Justin Herbert. It's a very easy throw. So he's trending up.

Justin Fields, up down or sideways. A little sideways. Now, he's got the most wins in college football, most total touchdowns, 78 of any player. But it's funny, we're hearing Mac Jones talk. We're hearing Trey Lance talk. We know Trevor Lawrence. You're not hearing a ton about Justin Fields.

He was inconsistent at college, and Ohio State's never had a great NFL quarterback. I don't take that into account much. But I think it's fair to say a little sideways for a kid that talented. Finally, Mack Jones. Remarkably, inexplicably trending up. There's a lot of San Francisco rumors, and that's back because the people saying the Niners may draft Mack Jones. Now, he did have the highest completer percentage ever in the history of college football

77.4%. But you're getting like valid people, like legitimate people close to John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan are saying Mack Jones is the guy. Doesn't have a great body, doesn't have second reaction skills. Mac Jones is the kind of guy that if he plays, protected, he's one quarterback. If he's under duress, he's a totally different type of player.

That would worry me. because you're never I mean Brady is a complete utter exception you're not going to have a good offensive line for 10 years it doesn't work that way Trent Williams is good but older for the Niners and the way they're spending their money on the defensive line and Kittled they're not going to be able to spend big money on their

offensive line so that's an interesting one for me an interesting one the it is it's interesting the dolphins got a lot of love and they deserved it they have a young general manager who's really sharp Chris Greer. He's already been involved with eight first round picks. He made two of them Friday. And it is interesting.

If you look at what Miami has done, they have manipulated the draft. And what Bill Belichick always did, he did a lot of trades for years with Buffalo and Cleveland and Miami and the bad teams. And I've always said this. If you look at the best hitters in baseball, nobody hits Justin Verlander in his prime. Nobody's hitting the great pitchers. Garrett Cole. The best hitters in baseball own the number three and four starters and middle relievers. So in any business, Apple is not going to be able to use Microsoft.

Microsoft's too competent. So is Apple. So you have to make hay against other weaker competitors. And I think Miami used that larynxie. used that Laramie Tunsell deal because they saw Bill O'Brien was over his skis as a general manager. They turned that into four first-round picks.

And it's that way. Like, you know, Michael Jordan, even Michael Jordan struggled against the Utah Jazz defense. Like, they were good. They throw Brian Russell at him. They had rim protectors. They had Mark Eaton. And so even Michael Jordan dominated good, not

superstar defensive teams. And I think what you see with Miami me and Chris Greer, but what's interesting about it, none of it matters if Tua can't play. That's the thing. You can accumulate all these picks and hit on them. If Tua can't play, and next year's a bad college draft, and every free agent quarterback class is choppy at best.

Everybody's got baggage. They're hurt. They're inconsistent. They're off a bad year. So you can do everything right. I mean, the Colts have done everything right for years. But they needed the Eagles to butcher the Carson Went situation, Or where would the Colts be today?

Where would they be? Jacob Eason? They'd be the most talented roster with an unproven quarterback. So it comes down to Tua. If Tua by Thanksgiving is seven and three and looks markedly improved, you're good. If not, congrats on getting a bunch of picks for Laramie Tundzel, you're battling for third place. It's the herd.
