Joel Clatt in a few minutes. Love to teach him football. I live for days when I can teach Joel Clatson football. Joy Taylor is joining me. Joy, how are you? Joel did a good job on the podcast. So did Daniel Jeremiah. I'll be locked in a night.

Russian home, Joy. I got to tell you something. There are just four or five days a year, maybe six or seven. I just love doing a show. I mean, I always, but this is work. I mean, we do it. But like today, it's got in early and I'm just like, Cloud 9. I love the draft.

I love the stories. I love the optimism. It was just felt really positive last night, right? It really did. Like, I didn't feel like there was a lot of like the stories. Like, you know, it was just like really nice, positive life changing. A lot of brohugs. A lot of high fives.

I thought we were done with high fives. They're back. I guess when we're vaccinated, we're good. Okay. So Packers, GM, Brian Guden. said, we're not trading Aaron Rogers. Listen, they're moving off Aaron Rogers. Now, it may not be today or tomorrow or this year.

They're going to move off him. When you publicly humiliate your franchise, it's over. I mean, I could do a lot of things with Fox. I could yell at my boss. I could do a ton wrong. If I'm publicly humiliating the company, it ain't going to work. Memo to young broadcasters. Don't do that.

Glazer, Adam Schaefter, and Ian Rappaport were crediting each other on Twitter. why. They were fed a story right after our show ended. Knowing Aaron, he did it right after my show ended because he hates me. All right. So let's just talk two things. This thing is over. It's over. Okay, it's over eventually. So let's talk two things. If Aaron is traded after June 1st, you can split the cap up. So it's not as punitive a hit to the Packers. Number two, what's his landing spot? Well, the two places, the three that were named were San Francisco, that ain't happening. Denver and the Raiders. So let's talk Denver and the Raiders. Why, the Raiders? Gruden needs to win now.

Number two is they can't do their first round picks right anyway. They keep butchering them. You can give first round picks to Green Bay. You can't do it yourself right. Number three, it's the West Coast. Aaron Rogers could do Jeopardy. He could do the Raiders. It works.

Number two, Denver. Why does it work? Vic Fangio has to win now. They actually have some weapons they could give to Green Bay. They've been fortified with some really nice weapons. And also, it's a division with, you know, Patrick Mahomes. Derek Carr, Justin Herbert, you know, Derek Carr, be nice to have a guy that can like

consistently go toe to toe to with a Herbert and I'm a Holmes talent-wise and get it done. But I do think it's the irony. Be very careful what you wish for in life. The grass is not always greener. So one of the stories about Tom Brady's success, and let's be honest about this, and I love the goat, but Buffalo was mostly poorly coached and poorly run with bad

quarterbacks and the Jets were mostly poorly coached for 20 years and poorly run and then so-so quarterbacks and Miami was poorly coached and poorly right and it's harder to win now for Bill because like Sean McDermott is good and stuff and so is Brian Flores. Aaron Rogers has spent the last few years trying to beat ooh, Mitch Trubisky and the Detroit Lions and Kirk Cousins. a bra that that that FACC West thing Mahomes and Andy Reid twice a year

Justin Herbert now appears to have a great offensive line if you're going up against Derek Carr he can beat you too and if you're not just saying the irony is Aaron wants out be careful what you wish for that division you've been in Green Bay

is the best run team in that division. Green Bay easily develops offensive lines better than anybody, I think, in football, but certainly in that division. You've had very good production. They generally draft pretty well. Now they're a little frugal.

They pull their khakis up a little high for my taste. But just, Aaron, be careful what you wish for. because you get traded to San Francisco. That was the rumor yesterday. Oh, good luck facing Russell Wilson twice and Kyler Murray twice. And, you know, Matt Stafford twice with like, you know, competent coaches. No more Tribisky if you go to the AFC West.

No more lions. I mean, Denver's the worst team. And Denver's got a bunch of good players. And it has a history of, you know, like building good organizations. Let's bring on the Clatster. Joel Clat is joining us live right now. I mean, like, Clat's a perfect example. You know, he's looking at these other shows to go on.

He's like, you know, Coward's pretty good. He teaches me things. Grass isn't always greener, Clat. So let's start with this. Oh, man. I was sick to my stomach yesterday afternoon. I'm thinking. Why?

I love John Lynch. I love the Shanahan's. They gave up a fortune. Mack Jones, the fans hate him, the media is going to rip him. Even if he wins, he's not Russell, he's not Stafford. And then they go Lance and keep Garapolo. I'm like, okay, this is going to work. I just felt like this feels like the right move.

Whether it's a home run or not, to me it felt right. Keep Garapolo, get the kid with a Herbert ceiling. Your thoughts on what the Niners did? I wanted to turn this around, actually, and talk about it, because we've been talking about it this direction for months, right? About like, well, which quarterback should these organizations take? And we've picked apart the quarterbacks and ranked them and all this. And I know, well, should it be Trey Lance and he's inexperienced? Well, should it be Mac Jones?

He's so efficient and so on and so forth. Let's turn it around. Now, from the quarterback's standpoint, which one landed in the best fit? See, this is where you actually get to evaluate who's going to have. have success in the NFL. And of the five quarterbacks, it's hands down, Tray Lance ended in the best spot, in the best spot. So for me, Colin, like, this was, I don't know why they traded. You know, from what I've been told, they did fall in love with Mack Jones. Then they made the trade. And then they sat back and they thought, why did we do that? We could have got him at 12,

which, you know, obviously could have happened last night. And so they started doing more homework. And then you start to look at the history of the Shanahan's, whether it's Kyle or Mike. I'm the style of quarterbacks that they've had in the past and what they've had success with. And I think they finally thought to themselves, whoa, wait, we're missing the boat here. It's not one or the other in terms of the Jake Plummer runner, the Robert Griffin runner, or Shob and Matt Ryan in the pocket. What if we could have both? And I know it's a bit of a projection, but now they land on Trey Lance.

And Trey Lance goes to an organization that has a win now ready, defense, offense. I mean, this could not be a better fit for both parties. And I think turning it around like that makes it a little bit more clear because even Trevor Lawrence, it's like, great, you're the first pick. You're going to a terrible team with a totally unproven coach, whom I love a lot, right? We all love Urban. I mean, Jacksonville's awful. New York is awful, right? Like, the Jets are awful. Good luck, Zach Wilson. Chicago hasn't had a good quarterback since who knows when. I mean, so good luck, Justin Fields. I hope you all have success. There's doubt. But Mack Jones and then Trey Lancemore specifically, they landed in the best spots, no doubt.

So by the way, Clatt set 44 school records at Colorado. I give him crap, but that's amazing. You keep bringing this up. That's a lot of records. God, you and Drew Breeze hold more quarterback records than any two humans, and I've had you both on in the last week. So was there a move in the first round? Because it's really funny. There's two ways to, the Patriots and the Chargers were patient and got their guy, and the bears and jets were aggressive, and they got people they like. Was there a first round pick you went either wow or, ugh? Yeah, I think both. I think both.

I thought the Cowboys did a nice job, Colin. Moving back, you still get Micah Parsons. I think he's still the most high-ceiling defender in the draft. I like what they did. I think that the Eagles did a nice job. I think that the Bears did a nice job. And then I was scratching my head with the Titans and the Packers and the Raiders, to be honest with you.

Those three didn't make any sense to me. I mean, the Titans, think of it this way. It's not even that like, well, their first round pick last year wasn't that good. It was a total width. He's not even with the organization. He played like four snaps. And then they take a guy that just had two back surgeries and Caleb Farley. Now, I love Caleb Farley.

He's the best pure man cover in the corner. There's no doubt. But he's had two back surgeries. One of them just in March. That's a huge red flag for an organization that completely whiffed a year ago. The Raiders continually want to be the smartest team in the room and just select whomever they want, regardless of value. They've done it now year after year after year. Alex Leatherwood is a good player, in particular if you could have gotten him in the second round,

which they probably could have sat pat in the second round and gotten him there. That was interesting. And then Eric Stokes, while a good corner for Georgia, I thought that there was other guys that were available at that spot that probably were better players at the corner position, like his teammate, Tyson Campbell. So I thought that was interesting. And they left Elijah Moore on the board, a very good wide receiver that could have been an olive branch to the quarterback that was throwing a fit up in his room, the teenager, who is not talking to his parents. Yeah. I'm going to give you, hey, listen to this, Clat. I'm going to blow you away with my wizardry.

Are you ready? I guess, listen, I just ran it down for you. That was like A-plus stuff right there that I gave you. So please go whatever you want, wherever you want to go. It was very good. I'm not disputing that, but I would suggest this will be even better. Listen to this. Okay.

I am going to tell you who is the first pick in today's. Jags have the first pick. Oh, okay, great. I would love to know. I actually have it on my phone, but please let me know. Okay. You have it on your phone. Yeah, of course.

so I'm not going to tell you. Okay, I'm going to tell you right now then. By the way, and your phone is wrong if it doesn't agree with me. Okay. So you get a rookie quarterback, terrific. I can even, ATN the running back, I can totally defend because by the way, the bell cow running back argument, go ask the Panthers with Christian McCaffrey and the Cowboys with Zeke how the bell cow thing works.

It doesn't. Guys get, they just three years in. So I can argue, they have. now two really good running backs. But they're bad at left tackle. Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame, left tackle, first pick, Jags. Boom, go to your phone.

What's it say? Well, I'm not going to tell you. I can't divulge what it is. I'm going to tell you, I think you're wrong. Well, then Urban's wrong if that's not the pick. I'll tell you right now. Okay. But by the way, I'll tell you what.

I'll get something a little bit more official later, okay? Okay. So that was my, also, Asante Samuel, Florida State, really good corner. Yes. Well, that's, again, that's one of those ones at the Stokes pick for the Packers. You know, Tyson Campbell, Asante Samuel, I think both of those guys probably were better than Eric Stokes. But go ahead. I agree with you, right? Like, you're saying Samuel's a good value up there, right? Yes. Yes. By the way, Jets need a corner and a running back. I'm just throwing it out there. Okay, let's stop the speculation because Liam Eichenberg will be picked. Clat's bluffing right now.

Let us go. I'm not bluffing. Matt Jones to New England. You didn't have to give up anything. I almost found myself, Joel, kind of rooting for him because I felt bad for him, whereas I would have rooted against him in San Francisco because he's overdrafted. I watched last night and I'm like, oh, this is sad. I think this is perfect for him in New England.

I do too. And I just want so badly, can we be honest? Like, I want so badly for 15 years from now. I know everyone hates the Patriots, but whatever. I want so badly in 15 years after maybe a couple Super Bowl appearances, maybe one or two more wins for the Patriots. I know everyone just throw up in their mouth. But if they, and then we can put the split screen up that was floating around the internet

of Tom Brady at the Combine and then Mack Jones with his shirt off in the cigar. and it's just like quarterback scouting 101, find this. You know, like that's what I'm dreaming of. I hope it works for them, and I think that it could. I was trying to make a point, and, you know, TV is tough because you got so little time. But the New England offense at its best, what wasn't necessarily just about Brady. It was about the ability to be surgical, right? They needed a surgeon to run that offense for Josh McDaniels.

That's the way he never had in Denver when he tried to. to force Tim Tebow in the first round. He needs a surgeon. Think about Super Bowl 49, Colin. I know it's probably hard for you being from Seattle, but they were down 10 in the fourth quarter, and he went 13 of 15 with two touchdowns in that fourth corner against the number one defense in the league.

That was a surgical performance from Tom Brady. And the best surgeon at the quarterback position is Mack Jones in this draft. And they got that style of player, a guy that's ready on his feet. The ball is out on time. It goes to the right spot almost every single time. You very rarely see him make a poor decision. He's very accurate down the field.

While it's not the strongest arm, because he throws the ball so quickly and it's out with a quick release, he rarely underthrows the ball, even to fast guys like Waddle and Devonthe Smith. So I think that this is a pick that could work out in spades for New England, and they did not have to move up to get him, and I think it's going to work out in the end for Mack Jones. Are you working the draft thing tonight, too? right? Yeah, I'm actually going to move over to the, like the main desk with DJ and Charles Davis and Rich.

So I'll be on tonight. Those are nice guys. That's a nice little place for you. Yeah. Yeah, because you can be difficult to deal with, but those guys will keep you honest. They'll keep you honest. That's why this works with us. Keep you honest. Liam Eichenberg. So you're telling me officially, it's not Liam Eichenberg. Yeah. Yeah, I am telling you. Okay, let me ask you this, though, Clatt.

It wouldn't be a bad pick. He's good player. No, I love Eichenberg. And we're going to see a few Notre Dame picks. Owasu Coromo is going to come off the board early tonight, the hybrid safety kind of nickel-style player. Eichenberg's fantastic. And you cannot argue with the lineage of Notre Dame offensive linemen.

Thank you. When I talk to people around the league and even around college football, they always say best coached offensive line. They're tough. They're ready. They run NFL schemes. Ikemberg's a phenomenal pick. Okay. But it's not happening, apparently. So, hey, listen, a man can root.

Watch him tonight with Eisen, Clatt, Daniel Jeremiah. Charles Davis is a total pro. I love him. Good for you. Way to go, Clat. Nice work today. Excellent information. I loved it today, buddy.

Right. They've been disappointed for years with, is it Robinson, the left tackle? Greg Robinson. so that's me left tackle, Asante Samuel, Oro running back from Carolina to the Jets. And then the third pick is Atlanta today and I would go Asante Samuel

if the Jets don't take him. Is there an uninteresting team in the NFL next season? Detroit. I don't know. I kind of want to see what Jared Koff does. It's a tire fire. I mean, you'd pull over to the side of the road to watch it,

but it's not. I mean, but like not, there's going to be bad teams. We know that, but I'm saying uninteresting. Like you're not interested at all to see how Derek Gough does. I am. I want to see how he does. Yeah, that's true.

That's a good point. Completely uninteresting. I don't know. It's a good point. Everybody has made some significant moves. As good as the NFC West is, Arizona can finish fourth and be fascinating. They were last year. Cincinnati, now with Jamar Chase and T. Higgins and Joe Burrell can finish fourth.

NBA a great watch. I mean, the league's in really good shape. Jacksonville now is must watch. For Trevor, absolutely. Absolutely. I absolutely have to watch and figure out what they do. Mon and Kyle Trask, probably. Yeah. Listen, I still, I am holding out hope for Liam Eichenberg, Notre Dame tackle, to go with Urban Myers' first, second round pick. But they have two really good second round picks and two thirds. So it is a very good tackle draft so you can get guys later. By the way, let me just throw this out on the New York Jets. It's not, I mean, listen, obviously scouting and stuff is inexact. It's hard to do.

I'm not saying it would be easy for any of us. but you can learn to be a good general manager, and there are some steps. I mean, Bill Pollyan gave us a great one yesterday. Years ago, Barry Sanders and Tony Mandrich were available, and Bill Pollyan's a young general manager, and he asked a mentor, who would you take? And he goes, you're out of your mind. He goes, Tony Mandrish has to block one guy. Barry Sanders is going to make 11 guys miss.

You take Barry Sanders. There are certain rules to this. One of the easy rules is you got to get a franchise quarterback, then you've got to protect him and get weapons. worry about the defense second. You're not winning Super Bowls with a rookie quarterback or a second year quarterback in most instances. Even Mahomes, usually it's late second, third year they pop. So by the way, Chris Ballard's a great GM.

Second year with a Colts, he goes all in on the offensive line. By the way, Tom Telesco gets Justin Herbert, start quarterback. What do he do this off-season? Rebuilt the offensive line. What did Brett Veach, one of the great GMs in the NFL do this offseason? completely rebuilt the offensive line, spent a fortune. It ain't tough. Find your quarterback, protect him and get him weapons.

And so Joe Douglas, the Jets GM, don't know him well, but he's pretty smart. Sam Darnold failed for a lot of reasons in New York. But primarily he failed because even as an athletic quarterback, he was sacked 33 times a year on average. And that's missing 10 games in three years. years due to injuries. Donald never had a shot. He didn't have great weapons.

He didn't have dependably healthy tight ends. He had no running game. But Donald's athletic. And he got sacked, I think it was 35 times last year, 33 times a year on average. Zach Wilson, Joe Douglas took the Jets GM job last year. Gets a left tackle. And yesterday moves up to get the best guard prospect in the direction. So the left side of that offensive line, they're good enough at center, boom.

So Zach Wilson may fail. Robert Solomon might not be the right coach. The division's too tough. He may fail. Corey Davis doesn't live up to his contract at wide receiver. He may fail. He's not going to fail because he's not protected. I mean, I'm not saying it's easy to be a GM, but it's not brain surgery.

Find a great quarterback. Protect him, get him weapons. That's pretty easy stuff. Then hire a good defensive coordinator, keep you in ball games. So you don't have to score 48 a Sunday to win. But I think if you're a Jets fan, you have to feel like at least we've got a grown-up running the organization. I mean, that's what you want. He gets it.

Zach Wilson and now protect him. It's why I think Urban's going to take a left tackle very early in today's second round. Joy Taylor with the news. No, no, no, no. Turn on the news. This is the herd line news. So I hope the Bengals take an offensive line. Well, again, but they have a left tackle and a.

center they like. They need an offensive lineman, but they do have a good left tackle and a good center. They didn't make some moves, but Joe Burroughs coming off of knee surgery after running for his life last year. Totally. And that division's got good pass right. It's got... The AFC North. Miles Garrett.

Got to be strong in the trenches. Exactly. Another team, I hope, takes an offensive lineman is the Dolphins. But they had two picks in the first round yesterday. Their first choice at number six was Alabama wide receiver, Jalen Waddle, who will reunite with his college teammate Tua. And they also selected the first edge rusher of the draft,

Jaylen Phillips out of Miami with the 18th pick. You were talking about him yesterday. Listen, I just think, I got to be honest with you, what they're really doing in Miami is they're getting dynamic players. Two is not terribly dynamic, but these are two dynamic players on the perimeter. One, a receiver, one an edge rusher.

I thought Jalen Phillips, and we said this yesterday on television, we said, Jalen Phillips, I'm being told, is moving up. Everybody had him late first, and I was told, no way. going to go right in the middle of the first round. Well, you know, there weren't that many edge rushers in this, in this, the top of this draft. So, and that is a position to your point, you get the quarterback, you get the trenches, someone to protect him,

and then you get someone who can get it their quarterback. Yeah, I mean, that's the process. Josh Allen twice a year. You've got to make him uncomfortable. Exactly. So he had 45 total tackles, eight sacks, and one interception last year, and Jalen Waddle had an injury last season. But in the first four games, he had 257 yards and four touchdowns. Came back for the championship game.

It had three catches for 34 yards. And the dolphins still have six picks remaining two in the second round. So the Jaguars got a familiar face for Trevor Lawrence with their second selection on night one of the draft. 25th pick, running back, Travis ETN from Clemson. I love this pick for them. It's the first time NFL history team has selected a quarterback and a running back from the same school in the first round of the common draft era. But Travis ETM was a dynamic player in college, 168 carries, 9.000. 914 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdown.

Good character. Great. Receiving back as well. That's the key. So he was not a great receiving back the year before in college. He came back and became a better receiving back. And by the way, folks, first of all, Urban has a history. What is the thing you can give a young quarterback, a rookie quarterback to help him? Protection and a running game.

So I don't these people that are saying, well, the Jags have a good running back. The bell cow thing doesn't work. You've got to have two. This is not college. You need two 15 carry-a-game guys. It's so crucial for a young quarterback. And he already has a relationship with him. I think this makes perfect sense.

He had 48 catches, 58-receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns last year. He broke the all-time ACC rushing record last season and set an NCAA record for most games with a touchdown. Like, he is a productive player. Okay, so most people, had 18 players in the first round as real first round players. And then from like pick 19-20 to late second, feel like second-round players,

both GMs I talked to had Travis A-TN, 18th or 19th best player in the draft. So they got them at, so anybody that thinks it's a reach does know what they're talking about. These are good GMs. This is a really good football player, a really good kid. And by the way, Trevor Lawrence now has a, a excellent wide receiver

because they went and got one either last year of the year before from Colorado, very clever wide receiver. Now they got to fix their tackles but he's got two legitimate running back talents. And they already know each other as well.

The Jags have two picks in the second round, the first one and the 13th, I believe, and then eight left in total. They got to get a tackle. They got to get a tackle. So Devonte Smith was the third receiver taken off the board. The Eagles drafted him 10th overall.

Philly made a deal with Dallas to move up two spots. who gets the Heisman winner. He said he was shocked that the Eagles traded up for him, but he called it a blessing and is excited to get started. He obviously won the Heisman last year. There was a lot of questions about his size and if he's going to be durable in the NFL, which is why he ended up being the third receiver taken.

But I'm actually not surprised that he was drafted this high. He is the Heisman winner. I understand his size, but he's incredibly productive, 117 receptions, over 1,800 yards, 23 touchdowns. The Eagles have nine picks remaining. They're going to add him to a receiving core of Jalen Rager, J.G. Rsego, White Side, Greg Ward, Miles Sanders, Boston, Scott, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goddert. So this is just another weapon for Jalen Hertz.

I also like that because obviously there were still quarterbacks on the board that they're sticking with Jalen Hertz, give him an opportunity and give him a weapon. Well, we know by what the giants drafted, the receiver, that the giant. They were going to take him. They were going to take Devonte Smith. So, and that had been in the New York. paper. So like he said, they said, listen, we don't want to face him in division. We want to have them on our team in the division. So I get it. Yeah. So they traded the 10th overall pick and the Cowboys got the

12th overall pick, which ended up being Micah Parsons, which worked out perfectly for the Cowboys and the third round pick 84th overall. But I really like this move for Philadelphia. And I like that they're committing to Jaylon Hurts, give him a year, give him a weapon. And I do think that DeMonte Smith is going to be more successful than people think. If they use him the right way, he's a very dynamic player. Oh, no, yeah. He'll work. I just, will he last? I think he'll work. He's too dynamic not to work. I mean, I think it's all relative, right? Like, is every player you're drafting you're expecting to have a 15, 16 year career?

No. If he gives you six or seven years of high-level production, that's worth that pick. There you go. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The herd lie news. All right, Greg Jennings reacting to what was clearly a planted story.

by Aaron Rogers or his camp to humiliate the Packers yesterday. Wild. That story broke five minutes after we left the air. It was, I got a call. Can you post something on this? Can you have a reaction? Because nobody wants to wait 21 hours for it. And I was just like, somebody called me and said, I want a reaction.

And I said, a reaction to what? And they said, yeah, Aaron Rogers says he refuses to play for Green Band. I'm like, what? He let it out yesterday? Couldn't have said that two weeks ago? And there were stories, by the way, that Green Bay told Aaron on the off season were going to move off you because he was frustrated. Then they backed off that.

So who knows what's true. You can shoot it down that Aaron Rogers, who can be a little petty, a little passive aggressive, so he felt a year ago you tried to humiliate me. And Aaron said, I'm not going to forget that. And on draft day, a year later, I'm going to humiliate you. That's my gut feeling.

The timing was not a coincidence. Your thoughts on my opinion there? Well, I definitely don't think the timing was a coincidence. whether or not he was trying to humiliate the Green Bay Packers, that's unknown. But what I do know is he's in a relationship

and it's a relationship that has been fractured. And anytime you are in a relationship, you know the needs and what's necessary to repair that relationship. Well, I believe Aaron Rogers was trying to really fill out the Packers and understand and make his feelings felt

and see what they were going to do. Are you going to give me the wants that I want versus the need that I understand that the organization desires and may need? Are you going to address my wants? So the Packers, boy, they can confound us. You know, historically, they're pretty good drafters, but they kind of reached for a corner at the end of the first round. Forget it, even if he doesn't work, it's not a, I mean, there was, I think there was better quality wide receivers. available. Did you take anything from them drafting a corner, a little bit of a reach at the end of the first round? I did. I did, Colin. And again, I understand about the need. Do they need corners? Yes.

But there's a want that everyone on the planet who understands anything about the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rogers and the weapons that's needed, they know he needs another pass catcher. And so with Elijah more being available with so many guys being available, you would think that in a relationship, again, I'm married, you're married, Colin, if we understand the needs. But if my wife is expressed what she desires, what she wants, I better walk into wherever she is and hand her some flowers and try to make sure that she at some point gets what she wants versus what I know or we believe it's needed. And that's what the Green Bay Packers didn't do. They didn't get what Aaron wants. So it tells me that they're just throwing salt on a wound, throwing dirt on the grave.

Look, we're moving on eventually. Face it, this is what we do. You know it. The writing's been on the wall with Bart Starr, with Brett Barg, now with you. This is how we operate. Listen, Aaron, I just, I said this earlier. If you humiliate each other in public, it's over. It's just a matter of time.

And there's a story that they actually told Aaron in the off season. Hey, we're going to move you. They backed off. I hear Raiders, I hear Denver. I mean, if I had to say to you, I mean, Denver does have in a division with Mahomes, by the way, Raiders in Denver in a division with Mahomes, so be careful what you ask for,

but could you see a place where he fits, where you think he fits? Well, there's a couple of teams in the NFC. However, I just don't think if the Packers are to move Aaron Rogers, that he would go, they would move him anywhere in the NFC. So I just immediately eliminate teams like the Saints, obviously, with their quarterback situation. So when you look at the Raiders in Denver, I like the Denver Broncos situation. They got a lot of young weapons.

They got some defense that you know is there. They got some pieces and they struggle with quarterback. And I believe the relationship that Aaron Rogers has with John Elway, that could be something special. Elway, we know he's struck out unless he. went out and grabbed Peyton Manning and then that worked out. So maybe he could do it again and try to acquire a talent like Aaron Rogers and then bring another Super Bowl to mile high. You know, Greg, a lot of wide receivers taken.

I didn't love Cadarius, Tony, to Giants. I thought it was a little bit of a reach. I don't think they need receivers. I actually think between Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, Kenny Ghalade, Evan Ingram, Kyle Rudolph, Seekwon Barkley. They got a bunch of pass catchers. But whatever. if you could say to all these receivers in the first round,

I know you're great, but here's the one thing you're going to have to adjust to be an NFL wide receiver. What would your advice be to all these first round wide receiver talents? It would just simply be to adjust to the speed of the game. It's going to be different, the pace of the game, the safety rotations, all of those things of disguising of defenses. it's going to be a little quicker.

And the talent obviously is going to be better. But bring your A games. We all know these guys have A games. I love where some of these guys have ended up. Specifically, in my opinion, I really love where Rashad Bateman ended up. I had a chance to sit down with him. He's a really good guy who understands the game and wants to improve and has something to prove. And I think he's going to not only make Lamar Jackson better.

I think Lamar Jackson is going to make him better. I like where he ended up yesterday. So, you know, you know the Bears pretty well, okay? So you were in that division. They trade up to get Justin Fields. And listen, it's a big, loud town. It's like New York and Philadelphia. They love their sports.

You've played there. You know it can be windy and cold. But Justin Fields played. You know, he played in Ohio State. Just kind of your sense on them moving up, getting a young guy behind Andy Dalton. How did you think the Bears did? I like what they did.

They did what was necessary. Not only for Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy as the heads, but for that organization, for the guys in that locker room, letting them know, look, we are going to get this right at the quarterback position, even if we get it wrong. We're going to continue to throw logs on the fire and try to strike. And that's what they did. Justin Fields, he's comfortable in these climates.

He understands the hostile rivalries. like the Green Bay Packers. He was at Ohio State against the Northern Names and the Michigan's and the Michigan States and all of that. He's comfortable in these situations, and I think he'll thrive with the Chicago Bears. You know, I love watching the draft. As a former player, it probably takes you back to draft night for you. I mean, I just, the whole thing, did you notice the Packers,

all the war rooms last night, all the draft rooms? Everybody was high-fiving and jumping up and down and going crazy. and they took a picture of the Packers, and it was a little low energy. And I did think to myself, Greg, I honestly thought this. They're worn out for Marin. They were just, there was no high fives. There was no congrats. I kind of feel like Green Bay is kind of exhausted.

I felt like yesterday they were like, oh, God, let's just get through the weekend. Am I reach in there? Did you send it a little? I don't know if that's the case. I think they're so intently focused on doing what they feel is best for. the organization, even though you, myself, and so many other minds and talking heads believe that what is best for the organization, it is ensuring that Aaron Rogers is happy. That ensures your opportunity to continue to get to NFC championship game after NFC championship

game and have a chance to put your team in contention to win another Lombarding trophy. But hey, what do I know I'm not a general manager? I'm not a head coach. I'm just a player who played with the guy that they need to make happy. Craig Jennings, Fox Sports NFL analyst. Have a great weekend, buddy. Appreciate you stopping by. Absolutely.

Appreciate you guys. Yeah. By the way, what also makes it weird is they went and drafted a corner who appears to be a reach. By the way, this is another thing. Tampa Bay's Jason Light has been a great draft weekend GM. They went and got Joe Try on. You could make an argument. The Packers missed on JJ Watt.

They need an edge rusher. Now, they need a corner. I'm not disputing that, but it was kind of a reach. Listen, sometimes you have to do stuff to appease people. Not everybody is joy. Low maintenance. A lot of people are needy. And sometimes you got to appease and placate a little needier people.

The world has changed. You have to accommodate stars. and you're not going to win without stars. Not everybody. Not everybody. Steph Curry. Kevin Durant needs a little hug. Aaron needs a little hug.

Could you just take a wide receiver in the first round? Could you? It's not the end of the world. There's a bunch of good ones. I mean, you did take a quarterback last year in the first round. Just appease him. It's not like you don't go crazy out of year. I truly don't understand it.

And I don't understand the pushback on Aaron either. Like everywhere you've worked, you've enjoyed. your environment and you've loved your bosses and you've never questioned any decisions that they've made and you've never felt like you were more valuable than that place. Like, everyone can relate in some way to what Aaron Rogers is going through. We just have this expectation that he's just supposed to sit back and take it. He's a public figure. It's even harder then.
