We got a great third hour of the show for you.

Getting you ready for your weekend. You know, there's been a lot of discussion about, obviously about quarterbacks. About the Buccaneers, they've turned all 22 starters. And there is this. assumption that we make, and it's a really dangerous assumption. That assumption is, well, you know, Tom Brady just defies father time. He's always going to defy father time. You remember if you watch the boat parade when Brady was hammered, hammered.

And I think everybody was like, man, good for him, right? Good for him. or he's just, he's in that smiley face like, yeah, man. Like, what do you laugh at? I don't know. And it does, it is a good snapshot into who Tom Brady really is. Because who you are when you're drunk is who you are in real life, right? Like a dude, an inner angry dude is that guy who gets drunk and wants to fight people.

Like the Padre fan who walked over and just mollywopped that Rocky fan. Did you, Ryan Music, did you see that? Have you seen that video yet? That went viral. Ah, that's a class act. Now, look, the, the Rocky fan who got his glasses knocked off and got knocked out like Debo at the end of Friday, well, it almost felt like slow motion, oh, drew, we get knocked out. Like, don't put your hands on the guy.

Put your hands up. Duck! Anyway, I'm guessing that Padre. fan. That's assault, brother. That guy's one of those guys that has a couple pops and he wants to fight people. That's who he is. Tom Brady gets drunk, happy. Happy. But if you remember

Tom Brady, he was wearing a knee sleeve at the victory boat parade. Like that's like, wow, what? Who goes like, all right, I got a throw on a polo? I need some shorts. You know, it's comfortable shorts. Hey, hon, what are the those shoes that I like, you know, he's got to wear his underarmor boat shoes, right?

Sox. I need to put on my knee sleeve. Like that is some old man stuff. When you're throwing on a knee sleeve to just go out in public, I get it. Like if you're going to play a football game, you're going to work out. If you're just going to hang out on a boat and you need a knee sleeve, like your knee is jacked and you are old. So Tom Brady, of course, had that knee cleaned up. Here he was on a podcast talking about his offseason.

I had pretty serious knee surgery this offseason, which is the first surgery I've had in about 12 years. So I was really interested to see how it was going to go because last year it just took a lot every week. I was kind of tending to my knee. And I thought I would love to see a season what it looks like when I'm not, you know, when I can really focus on some other strength stuff that I want to do, some other technique stuff where I'm not just focused on protecting my knee all the time. Okay. Now, let's remember that as great as Tom Brady has been, okay, he wasn't great against the Washington football team in the playoffs. And now granted that Washington football team is nasty up front defensively.

He was good against New Orleans, but they were trailing, if not for a massive fumble in the fourth quarter in that game. he had three turnovers against the Green Bay Packers and he was good against Kansas City but that was Kansas City couldn't score couldn't protect Brady had some ups Brady had some downs right he

obviously they were they lit up teams like the lions great the Falcons great there were other teams that he struggled against. He just did. They're lost to the Saints in New Orleans, 186 yards passing and three turnovers.

That's why they were so conservative. Heck, even in the Super Bowl, very conservative, underneath stuff to grunk, dumping out to the running backs. And there's a chance, talent-wise, they're better.

I know they have all 22 back, but, you know, you add a G.O. Bernard, now you got a legit pass catcher out of the backfield. That's what he's always loved. But you add in, he's coming off of knee surgery, you add in that it's hard to repeat. Not only are expectations lifted,

but people's personal expectations because they want to get, you want to get recognized, all right, now I want to get paid in the future. Now I've got to get my numbers. look, we won a Super Bowl last year. We should be winning 14, 15, 16 games in the regular season this year. And I hate to break it to you, but as good as Tampa was at the end of the year, that four-game win streak, the beat the Vikings,

the beat the Falcons twice, they beat the Lions. Those are four non-playoff teams. You know, if you look at their regular season, their regular season, they beat one playoff. team. One. Now, what happens when you win a Super Bowl? Now, granted, because they were the wild card, they don't get the first place schedule, but they do get teams like the Cowboys to open up their stadium. You're everybody's biggest game. And your quarterback is button up against 44 years old. He is coming off of knee surgery. You are playing a 17th game, which will lead to more attrition,

more injuries. It just does. You can tell me I'm wrong or I'm going to be wrong, but I'm not. I know because this is why they fought for only having 16 games to players. The only reason they went for the 17th game is because they all knew they were going to get so much more money like, alright, fine. You know? All done it in life. Do you want to do something?

No. How much? Okay. It's the old, you know that movie Dragon Heart? You know that movie Dragon Heart? Sean Conray. He plays a dragon. I heard a comedian once.

I forget what comedian, if you want to tell me at Gottlieb shows. But it was like, can you imagine the conversation with this, this is Sir Sean Conry? A dragon? I'm knighted by the queen. I will, how much? Right? Everybody has a price point. NFL players fought tooth and nail for years.

We don't want a 17th game. We don't want a 17th game. How much? Okay. The cap's going to go up. How much? Okay. Everyone has a price.

But the downside to it is, older players are more likely to get hurt. Tom Brady is coming off of knee surgery. Just the whole idea of, and again, it doesn't mean, even if he falls off a cliff, Peyton Manning fell off a cliff his last year. He was terrible.

Nine touchdown, 17 interceptions. They won that game because of defense and special teams. He had no arm left. And if you look at, Guys that have left New England. What is the secret of New England's sustained success? They have been willing to let guys go a year early rather than a year too late. This is year two.

The Richard Seymours of the world, one good year. And then off a cliff. So I don't know if he'll go off a cliff. I don't know if it'll be a steady decline. I don't know if we've already been part of the decline. And it's been covered up by having so many talented players around him in Tampa. But no man has ever been able to do it at the same level forever. And if you look at his actual production, there has been a drop off this year.

Next year. It is coming. What is the, what's the HBO show? Game of Thrones. Winner is coming. Winners coming. I'm not doing the Kellerman off a cleft four years ago, five years ago. You know, I feel for my boy Trent Daufer, who called it when he played against Kansas

City and he stuck it to all of us. and just has seen this rebirth. But at some point, Father Time gets his. Father Time gets his. Will this be the point? How do you get back out in the field and if you don't have your regular offseason while rehabbing and playing with that knee? How do you, there's a hunger that was in Tampa, right?

Tampa hadn't been good in 20 years. Bruce Ariens, he had never won. it as a coach. There's a hunger there and Brady obviously has sustained hunger. He finds a way to do that six meal a day thing, right? I'm talking about with Super Bowl. So, but lots of guys, now you've made it. Now what? Rick Straub joins the show upcoming next. Like, he, Brady made it seem like his knee surgery was a big deal. We thought it was just a cleanup. And are we buying that the Buccaneers will actually be better trying to run it back with everybody back? We'll discuss next time.

All right, we talked about Brady, talked about the Buccaneers, a guy who knows a lot more about it than you and I do is Rick Stroud. He covers the Bucks. He's a Buccaneers insider, and he joins us here in the herd. Of course, he works for the Tampa Times. And let me start with this from the plays for me from the podcast, what Tom Brady said about his recent knee surgery. I had pretty serious knee surgery this off season,

which is the first surgery I've had in about 12 years. So I was really interested to see how it was going to go, because last year it just took a lot every year. week. I was kind of tending to my knee and I thought I would love to see a season what it looks like when I'm not, you know, when I can really focus on some other strength stuff that I want to do, some other technique stuff where I'm not just focused on protecting my knee all the time. Okay. What did he have done to the knee? Well, hi, I got let me look through all the injury reports to see what he was on there. Oh, no, there are none. Yeah, that's an interesting one.

We're not really sure. You know, it was originally described to me. He says, oh, it's just a cleanup. Clearly, it's more than that. You know, I don't know if it was a PCL. Who knows, right? We've not been told any details about his knee surgery, but the fact that he had to spend a lot of time, you know, just getting prepared to practice and play would indicate that it was a little more than, you know, that Carly's or some residual from his ACL surgery many, many years ago. So, look, my information is he will begin throwing next week.

you know, he has rehabbed that thing as well as you can. I think it's been about nine weeks or so since his surgery, maybe about that. So we'll find out just how much he can do and where he does it because we know that, you know, he came on the NFLPA conference call and kind of urge people to stay away. So I don't hope that means another trip to Berkeley prep or what. Isn't that weird, though, that he's leading this charge to stay away when last year they were the guys practicing at the local park because they couldn't get in the facility? Like, wait, what?

Yeah, I know. It's sort of counterintuitive. I mean, even after the union during COVID, and we were trying to negotiate protocol, say, hey, guys, especially Tom, you guys that are working out on your own, could you stop until we get this thing all hammered out? And he went out there again.

I was out there, and nothing changed. And, in fact, he even posted on Instagram, you know, sort of the FDR call, you know, nothing fear but fear itself. So he's been on both sides of the argument, for sure. And, you know, we'll just see here in the next, I guess next week sometime where he decides to do this. Rick Stroud joining us in the Tempe Times, covers the Buccaneers, has done so for years,

and does an amazing job. He joins us in the herd. I'm Doug Gottlie, filling in for Colin. Repeating is hard, right? Obviously, he knows he's done it. He's succeeded in it. But this is a crew that, look, they've dealt with how to deal with losing, but how to deal with winning sometimes can be even more difficult. Is it a good thing that all 22 stars are coming back next year?

Well, I mean, I think it is from a continuity standpoint. You know, I think the downside is that other teams got better, you know, in various ways. And, you know, the Bucks are hoping to get better because of just the fact they'll have more familiarity. And, you know, in a lot of instances, if you're talking about in DamaCon, you know, some of these guys are older players. And Grunkowski, Antonio Brown, you really don't know. that expiration date's going to pop up. They've all been sort of, you know, freaks of nature in a way, even Brady, for that matter. But it's a young man's game.

They did it with a lot of veteran players last year that played huge roles, you know, but repeating is tough. And there's a reason why it hasn't happened for so many years. And I just think that, you know, they're going to get everybody's best shot. They get a lot of, you know, night games, primetime games, all of that. But they really feel like, Doug, that they were just starting to hit their stride because of all the protocols and no training camp, all the things Brady had to do to learn a new system that, you know, they were getting better on offense and defense when the Super Bowl happened. And you could see sort of how ready they were for that game.

And, you know, the next morning, in fact, Brady called Clyde Christensen and said, hey, I think we can be better next year doing this and this and this. So, you know, we've done some things getting Joe Bernard or receiving running back. but I think continuity helps in this situation for sure. I do too. I would say the downside is, like you said, getting everybody's best shot. It's just different, right? When you walk into a building and you're everybody's biggest game,

it's different. I also think the level of intensity in regular season football is going to be peak, not just because they're the Super Bowl champions and their Tom Brady and whatever, but because we have fans in the stands everywhere, right? And there's some incredible games, incredible atmospheres, in New England probably the most, but also Dallas first game this season. But there's also the 17th game.

You mentioned it's a young man's game. How do you account for the 17th game when there's just a volume of hits and actions on older bodies that at some point lead to a breakdown? How can we account for that and prepare for that if you're a football fan or they're football players? Well, I mean, in this case, I can only speak to what. what I see with, I think that Bruce Ariens does as good a job with veteran players as I've ever seen. I think that's why a lot of guys want to play here, want to play for him in particular. Look, when you get to a certain age, it's all about those three hours on Sunday. And most of these guys know their jobs. They know how to play football. You know how to

prepare. But it's about body maintenance. You know, I know we see it in the NBA all the time, but, I mean, really, I think the NFL is going to that. They've spent a million dollars. on sports science, anything from sleep to dehydration, all of those studies they do. And, you know, Bruce, I think, even with Tom Brady, towards the end of the year, he wasn't practicing on Wednesdays. He just wasn't going out there. And that's something that I don't think, you know, he necessarily embraced right away, but it wound up preserving him.

We know now he had a serious injury. So, you know, for these guys, the by week is not as late as it was a year ago after week 12. This year it's about in the middle of the season. But it's going to be a long year. There's no doubt about it. And if you plan on going into the postseason, even longer. So it's one that no players had to navigate.

There's one less preseason game, but there was no preseason a year ago. So we'll just have to see, you know, it's a war of attrition out there, man. How many stars get hurt? Who's going to be left? And that's a big part of the battle is who's standing. I mean, look at Kansas City. You know, they had so many injuries on the offensive line. There's no way they could compete against the Bucks.

And the Bucs got Vita Vaya back, you know, at a perfect time. in the championship. So all that's part of it. Doug Gowleyman for Colin. This is the herd. That's the voice of Rick Stroud, Bucks insider for the Tampa Bay Times. You mentioned Geo Bernard.

I mean, maybe it's even more impressive what they were able to do considering they didn't have that type of running back last year. You're like watching them and trying to throw the ball to Leonard Fournette was painful.

Like hand it to Leonard Fournette, very good. Throw it to Leonard for net. Not so good. Does that upset the Apple cart, though, in any way? Well, I think, you know, I think that Bernard's going to have a big role. I mean, prior to some coming here, he completed 100 balls to his running back to previous four or five years. He just couldn't do that. I mean, I think between, you know, Ronald Jones, who was anything but a natural pass catcher in Fortette,

I know he's caught 70 balls, mostly the screen variety. I mean, those guys had unofficially at least 14 drops. And those usually come on third down. They get you off the field. you know, you think back to games like New Orleans when they went four straight, three and outs. I mean, there's a lot of drop opportunities there. So Bernard puts Tom back in his comfort zone where he's got a guy who's used to running routes, knows where his leverage is, you know, is productive after the catch.

You know, somebody like James White, who was a teammate of his back in high school. So I think this is really a nice addition when you talk about what the bucks can look forward to. That's one of those additions they've made that will, make them harder to defend. They open the year with the Dallas Cowboys, but the big game that everybody's talking about is the fourth game of the season in New England. What do you think that'll be like for Brady? Well, it's going to be emotional for him.

I mean, there's no doubt about it. He's an emotional guy, and I think you see that when he plays on Sundays, or in this case, you know, Sunday night. And look, I know it's been something to watch. from afar. I've watched this guy's career, been to all the Super Bowls, and he's very impressive.

But when you see him every day with his teammates, it's even more impressive. The guys on this football team in a short time, even with COVID, not being able to hang out, have such respect for him

and now for what he's accomplished. He's helped put rings on all their fingers. They don't want to be the guy that disappoints him. I mean, they really don't. It's that simple. And, you know,

he can coach every position and does so quite often. I just think those guys will understand what they, the game means to him, the magnitude of that. They'll have their best weeks of practice. They probably think they're a better football team than Patriots. Let's see whether they are or not in week four.

I think the bigger factor is they've got maybe their biggest game of the year the week before. They go to L.A. and play the Rams. And, you know, that could end up being one that determines home field advantage down the road. So, you know, flying across country in a short week, that might be more of a factor than this is the motion that Brady has to play with. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. There's some soft parts to schedule. I think a lot of it depends upon the...

The NFC South is fascinating to me because we all are operating under the assumption that the Saints take a step back. The Carolina is still not there, and the Falcons are... But if you... I mean, the Falcons defense couldn't be any worse than last year, right? I mean, it has to be better. Carolina, as they were surprisingly decent last year, I think it's an upgraded quarterback, but they only had Christian McCaffrey for three games, and they definitely you upgraded the wide receiver corps as well as most

the personnel. And the Saints and we had to at least offer up the possibility they could be better because Drew Breeze was limited. Is it possible that we're downplaying the NFC? I think most people think they're going to dominate the NFC South. Is it possible we're downplaying

the NFC South? I think so. I mean if you're on defense, I don't know if they addressed that or not, but certainly they got a new quarterback. I like their head coach. But Atlanta's got a guy that's in there, done that. Their offensive weapons are well documented.

They've got some pieces on defense. These teams, when they play in the division, you know, you lose that sort of fear factor, right? I mean, they know each other so well. They've been on the grass with each other so many times. They're really tough games, no matter who you play or where you play them. And for New Orleans, I mean, let's not forget

who the head coach is now. You know, Sean Peyton has done this with backup quarterbacks, with third string quarterbacks. I mean, all I know is that two years ago, he won four games or five games with Teddy Bridgewater didn't lose any of them. Last year, he had Taysam Hill and maybe James Winston at times off the bench, and they went three and one. So you're right about the downfield threat wasn't there for the New Orleans Saints,

especially in the playoff games. You could roll up on them, dare them to throw the ball behind you and Breeze couldn't do it. I assure you James Winston can do it. I watched him do it for 5,000 yards in Tampa. Yeah, he threw a lot of interceptions, but if that can be coached out of him, those bad decisions, they're going to be a threat next year. And they've won the division four years in a row. So they're not just going to roll over and hand it to the bucks. I think, you know, they want to avenge the playoff loss. They swept those guys with Tom Brady.

The worst beating they got was in Tampa 38 to 3 on a Monday night. So, yeah, I would not dismiss the Saints or even the NFC South at this point. Rick, you're the best. Rick Stroud, good dude. Excellent, excellent reporter covering the Buccaneers for the Tampa Bay Times. Let's get to Ryan Music with the news. Turn on the news. This is the Heard Line News. All right, Doug. You spent a lot of time there talking about Tom Brady, which naturally means we got to talk some Aaron Rogers. We haven't seen much in terms of whether or not.

he's actually going to get traded. You seem to be firmly in the camp that he's not going to get traded. Well, rookie mini camps are underway, and so the Packers have their rookie mini camp. Obviously, Aaron Rogers, not there, not a rookie. But his head coach, Matt Volf Fleur was there, and he did speak about the Aaron Rogers situation. I've got nothing new to update, and we still obviously feel the same way. It's, you know, we want him back in the worst way.

I know he knows that. And, you know, we'll continue to work at it each and every day. No news is good news, I suppose. Yeah, I mean, it's just, there's nothing you can say that's not going to be parsed, right? Right. Nothing is they not going to be parsed. So, I don't, I don't, I can't take anything from what, that was just, what's the, what's the most I can say while saying the least, congratulations, you win the day. Yeah, I mean, to Matliflor's point,

there have been a lot of reports about just how the Packers operate. And I know one, I believe it came from Mike Silver a couple weeks ago where he said, you know, whereas most NFL teams are progressing to the point to where everyone works collaboratively, Green Bay is still very much one of those operations where everything is separate and that Matt LaFleur was just as surprised for the trade up to select Jordan Love as Aaron Rogers was. So he's been putting this sort of rock in a hard place between, you know, his boss is obviously Gutakunst

who's making those decisions. But also as the head coach, he knows that Aaron Rogers is obviously going to give him the best chance to be successful right now. So, you know, he's left with trying to manage keeping Aaron Rogers happy while also not turning his back on his boss. Oh, by the way, Matt LaFleur also added this

on the signing of Blake Bortles. Shoot, he led his team to the AFC championship game and they almost knocked off the Patriots. So, there you go. They got the ball of 59 seconds to go at the end of the first half and chose to take a knee. Is that not what you want to do?

No. No. Hey, we want to keep Tom Brady out the field. like he wasn't going to be on the field there, dude. You know? Well, unless... But we saw the Niners do that with Jimmy Garoppolo. It tells you all he need to know. Right, exactly.

but if you feel good about Jordan Love to not be a complete and total design, disaster, you probably could get away with signing someone else. I don't know. I mean, look, we go through all of these rosters, all of them. You're going to find somebody who's the third string quarterback. You're like, man, he used to ball out. What hour?

He was a highly touted guy. Like, go through, literally go through a, give me a team. Give me a team. Let's, I guess here's one. I mean, like, look, look, Nick Foles is the other quarterback. in Chicago. Right. That's true. Super Bowl MVP.

All right. So give me another team. Let's go with the Chargers. I don't know. Easton sticks, their third ring quarter. But once upon a time, Easton Stick was like, well, maybe he could be the next quarterback. Right. I don't, I don't, you know, I don't know.

Yeah, no, I mean, it's, and look, I guess what you're saying is, is, if you're the Packers and you have a win now team, it's much better to have multiple backup. that you think you can work off of to get to keep things afloat if something happens to Aaron Rogers as opposed to just putting all your eggs into one basket, especially considering the way things are right now. I even think that's overthinking it. You need camp arms. You need guys.

You also, he has a relationship with, I think he did the offensive coordinator or a quarterback coach who's in Jacksonville when he was there, right? So you need somebody who like, I don't have to sit down and explain everything to. He can kind of be a coach. Remember, like, Jordan Love's going to need coaching. and if Aaron's not there, he needs another veteran who's going to sit there and hold his hand. Look, if you thought Jordan Love was going to play in his first two years, you didn't talk to anybody in the NFL.

He was a year away from being a year away. He was at least two years away. He played one good year in college, one disappointing year with the coaching change at Utah State. He's got a really tough personal story growing up. I think it was Bakersfield, right? His dad was a cop who killed himself while he was at an AAU basketball game, 14 years old, kind of the whole community raised him. Like, he's been through some stuff now.

And this is, he had to learn how to play quarterback, but has had talent. He was a lot like a Justin Fields, Tray Lance type going back to last year. We're like, man, he could see him, but there's some things he needs to clean up. So I don't, I don't think it says anything about Tray Lance. Last year, he couldn't play a preseason game. They couldn't really see what they had. So we'll see. but their expectations are for next year to be the year.

Maybe he's a bust. It's very, very possible. The hit rate on first round draft picks is 55%. And that's not really counting quarterbacks. And that's Ryan. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd-Ly News.

Is Ted Lassau a sitcom? It's a question for you. It's a question, Ryan. Is Ted Lassow a sitcom? Well, I've known. I never watched Ted Lasso, so I'm not sure. I know it's obviously a comedy. I'm not a TV expert.

The situation is Ted Lasso is a Division 2 football coach who becomes a Premier League soccer coach or footy football coach in England. That's a situation. It's a comedy. So it's a situation comedy, isn't it? Like, am I? Hmm. He, let's see, I'm reading an article here on Ted Lassow. The executive producers wanted to distinctly make a non-sitcom sitcom sitcom.

What does that mean? I don't know. I don't know. It's a situational comment. It's a very good show. Now, I do think Colin started watching it last week, last weekend, a Sunday, which is interesting because I started watching last Friday and tweeted about it and called him and texted him about it. And I'm just, I don't know if that was the seed. And everybody has talked about it.

But there are several people that I know and like in the media that have, I'm just, I'm not saying I was the first one. Lots of people. I'm way laid on it. Well, so. It's really good. One of the things about sitcoms was, they always used to have that studio audience, right? Like, that was one of the things that used to kind of be an element in sitcoms that's no longer the case. No. No. Some were for, they would say, this was filmed in from a live studio audience. But Someone have the canned laughter. Well, that's what I mean. Yeah, the canned laughter.

The canned laughter is in front of a live studio audience. That's fake laugh. Can laughter means fake laughter. It means from a button of a computer. Okay. Live studio audience is live studio audience. I don't know if that, I don't think that matter. Like, like, didn't Seinfeld have canned laughter?

Or Seinfeld live studio audience? No, it had to be canned laughter, right? I think so, yeah. I mean, I think it's sitcom as a situational comedy. I think it's, well, we bring it up because, coming up next. There is a friend's reunion that apparently is going to air.

Now, I don't like reunion shows. I can't think of one that I've watched. I can't think of one that anyone's ever said, like, you know what was really good was the reunion show. It was great. It was even uncomfortable. The Saturday Night Live reunion when they brought Eddie Murphy back,

And this is very much open for discussion and debate over people who will disagree with me, but they're wrong. Okay. I don't know about you, but like I, I, I think. think the days of the network sitcom being a thing are probably over, right? They've gone the way of the do-do. They're the, they're the,

you ever seen one of these things where there's a phone and there's a dial pad attached and you can put a coin in, you mean a pay phone? Yes, those things. Like, that's like the situation comedy. That said, there is, there's a friend's reunion, which it's going to be on HB,

Fio Max? And if you think Friends isn't popular, all you have to do is take a look at Netflix when they had Friends on Netflix and the office on Netflix. It exploded the popularity of Netflix for the younger generation that didn't see it on its, and look, Friends is on every day on cable television, people don't watch it. So what we did, we being me, compiled a list, me because Ryan Music doesn't agree with me. It's okay. He didn't. He didn't. He didn't. not old enough to really understand somebody said the top 10 sitcoms of all time let's get to number 10 number 10 friends friends um they tried spin-off shows none of them worked uh i'm trying to think you know outside of was it was it was it marty was marty the giraffe

in Madagascar? I'm trying to think of that one. Outside of doing voiceovers, Jennifer Anderson's really the only one who's seen a ton of prominence after that show. So it's one of the things that, I mean, I guess part of it was they got typecast. Part of it is also, part of it is also the fact that they made so much money and still make so much money, like, do you really have to work anymore? I think the answer. probably know. Anyway, Friends are a great show.

I would say Friends is probably the last of the great situation comedies on television for that age of, for that age of viewer. Because now, like, that was on when I was in college,

right? That was an 18 to 30 show or 18 to 40 show. And that's why all of us are now adults. We still watch back and go, seven, seven, seven, or we were on a break. Like all of those things

resonate with us. I think it's the last of the Mohicans, if you will, but I don't think it rises to the level of some of the other shows. Let's get to number nine. Number nine. Sanford and Son. Now, again, this is old school. It was among the first shows starring two black men, and of course, it

starred a famous comedian in Red Fox. and it was hilarious, hilarious. Sanford and Sun at 9. Number 8. Curb. Now, Curb is a hard one because it was an HBO show. Obviously, Larry David, one of the creators of Seinfeld, and a lot of the bizarreness of Larry is what Seinfeld was based upon. And I know we have a tough time comparing it to network situation comedies.

but it was a situation comedy. And in much the Seinfeld kind of realm, it was, what was it really about? Nothing, something, but we can all relate to it. Number seven. MASH. MASH. Now, to those of you, you're like, MASH, really?

I mean, I probably have MASH too low. The final episode of MASH is the highest rated show in the history of television, right? So, I'm a little late to the mass generation. It did have canned laughter. But it was an amazing show. And many of those character names and have become like adjectives. And they still work to this day.

Number six. Frazier. Now, Frazier was a spinoff from Cheers. Dr. Frazier Crane. It also, anybody else kind of fall in love with Seattle because of Frazier? Right. You had the dad, you had the dog, you had the brother, Niles. You know, you had Niles' wife who, spoiler alert, eventually he leaves the wife for Daphne,

who he had a long love interest in and then ultimately love affair with. Fraser also, a radio show host, a talk show host with an incredible voice. Chelsea Grammer, of course, became, you know, he was the voice of a side show Bob as well, at Side Show Bob, right, in Simpsons? Yeah, Frazier at 6. Number five. The Office. Now, I hate to be that guy.

No, I don't hate to be that guy. The British version with Ricky Jervais, I still think is funnier. But the office is pretty damn funny. I mean, it's, and look at people, look at people's careers, how they have exploded from it. And though obviously a lot of it, like most situation comedies, is over the top. Man, the office is awesome. Just the awkwardness of inner office relationship. Now, what's crazy about it is, are we ever going to have offices like the office ever again?

Right? Like, I don't know about your work, but like we have offices that are not open that may never open. Why? When you can do everything. Honestly, now people don't know how to talk to each other on the phone anymore. They don't have, you know, meetings on the phone. Everything is on Zoom. So I don't know if we'll ever have offices.

I don't know if it says relatable 10 years from now. Like, what is it? Why would you go into an office? Number four. The Simpsons. The Simpsons. Don't. I mean, the Simpsons is, one, still hysterical.

Two, they, a long time, you know, well before many of these cartoon shows pushed the bounds of like family guy of what's acceptable. The Simpsons did the same years and years. And they've predicted the future. It's a brilliant show that's still on. I probably have it underrated it for. Number three. All in the family.

And look, if you're the two guys working with me today, they've never seen in all the family. They don't understand. Oh, you have. Okay. You have. All in the family in terms of political incorrectness and deal. dealing with religious relationships, race relationships.

Archie Bunker is one of the most interesting and funny and iconic characters in the history of television. And oh, yeah, by the way, look at all the people that are on that show, all in the family. And my dad used to fall asleep to it every night. Number two. Seinfeld. Yeah, and I, Seinfeld is too.

I love Seinfeld. I love it. And there's a, there's a whole thing that I do on my show, the Doug Gottlieb show, which airs after this show, which is when art imitates life and when life imitates Seinfeld. There are so many different, you know, it was cold. First Avenue and First Street, the nexus of the universe. I mean, you name it. The show about nothing was about something. It was hysterical. But it's number two, because number one is number one. Cheers. So here's my thing on cheers.

One, hysterical. Two, launch careers like that of Woody Harrelson. Three, it had great spinoffs like that of Fraser. Four, it survived. The lead female changed after like four or five seasons. I changed after four or five seasons. And it was still good and maybe even better. How do you do that?

Like I know the Fresh Prince changed Aunt Vibs after. the first year, but this wasn't after the first year. It was a wildly successful show that changed leads. So, Friends 10, Sanford and Sudd 9, curb 8, mash 7, Frazier 6, Office 5, Simpsons 4, all in the family

3, Seinfeld 2, cheers 1, that's the best for last. Major issues, major issues, feel free. Patrick, Buckeye, Pat 5 says, cheers in Seinfeld for me. There you go. I'm with it. Look, we can have these discussions on social media all week.
