It is Nick Wright in for Colin Cowherd on the herd. Collins on a short vacation. Joy Taylor is on a seemingly endless vacation, sailing up and down the Amalfi Coast, I assume hobnaving with Magic Johnson, other celebrities. Alex Curry and I left to do the dirty work on this Friday. Alex, doing well this afternoon or I guess morning out in L.A. I'm in New York. Oh, yeah, I'm always doing great.

Every day is a great day when you're up, you're feeling. good, you're getting to work. I'm a happy as my vibe kind of person. And that is, and you exude that, and even happier because your pals on the women's Olympic volleyball team took home the gold. Alex Klein and April Ross. There you go. Alex and April brought home the gold. My pal, Allison Felix, brought home the bronze this morning in the women's 400 meter. And I'm in a great mood also because I get to argue with Chris Broussard in less than 15 minutes about Charles Barclay's comments about Ben Simmons. But before that, and before we even get to the Aaron Rogers stuff from Jay Glazer, a little breaking news. I don't know if we have a breaking

news sounder. Oh, we do. How about that? Six-year contract extension for one Josh Allen, the man who was, you know, the cause of me having to have ketchup and mustard, squirt it all over my face because of a stupid bet I made with Colin Coward gets a six-year extension. Now, this is news, but it's not surprising. He was always going to get the extension. Maybe the length is a little surprising. Six years long contract. We've seen a lot of these quarterback contracts end up being four or five years, but the details are still trickling in. I just heard in my ear, it's $258 million. That's a lot of money.

So, 258, let's see if I can do this on the fly, 258 divided by $6, $43 million a year. That's pretty good. He said $150 million guaranteed for Josh Allen. Now, he was excellent last year. I've been a doubter on some of his decision making, but there is no denying that he showed massive growth from year two to year three and showed growth from year one to year two because year one he looked like he was totally out of his depth.

What to me is almost as interesting as Josh Allen getting this contract is what it means for the other two quarterbacks in his draft class that are going to, we would think, get contracts. And that's Lamar and Baker. I don't think, in fact, I know it is almost impossible to argue that Baker should get more than Josh Allen. Baker's going to come in less, but man, oh man, $43 million a year. So I would be a little squeamish, and I'm a huge Baker guy. $150 million guaranteed is what Josh Allen again reportedly got. Let me give credit.

Chris Mortensen is the one who first reported the contracts. credit to him. Baker, if he gets an extension, and I imagine he will, it will come in south of that. But I wonder if Lamar makes the argument, why would I not get equal or greater than Josh Allen? I've won a league MVP. He hasn't. I've been in the playoffs every year. He's been in the playoffs one year. He's had one great season. I've had arguably two and a half great seasons. And Lamar got the playoff game monkey off his back this past postseason.

And so I'm always when it comes to, like my brain is split on this. I guess my brain is not split. My heart always says pay the guys. I'm here to watch the players. I want the players to make a ton of money. My head says on the quarterbacks, unless you have a surefire, no doubt, sure thing, I wait a little bit if I can to pay the guys.

And now that can end up biting you, like some would argue a bit the Cowboys. They had to pay DAC top, top, top of the market because they waited. But with Lamar and Baker, or would have been with Josh Allen, you've got them in a very beneficial situation for the team. They're on four-year contracts

that because their first-round picks are really five-year contracts, and then the ability to franchise tag them twice if you wanted to. So those guys, Josh Baker and Lamar, have all played three years. They could take them your four, five, six, and seven, four more years before a half-year-old. having to give them a contract. The fact that this goes through 2022, 2028 tells me, so it is a six year extension, not a new contract.

So the two, if we're really, I don't want to get too into the weeds on it, and I'm trying to do this off the top of my head, but it's really an eight year deal. You tack on the money he was gonna make in year four and five already, folded into it, and it becomes a more reasonable number than the 43 million a year. $150 million guaranteed is a hell of a deal. And I got to imagine Lamar Jackson is now saying,

I guess my deal starts at six years, 259, and $151 million guaranteed. Baker's got to come in a little under that, I would imagine. But Bill's fans, I know you're thrilled. Bill's fans, I know there's no one you would rather have, deliver the news to you that you got your quarterback signed, then your guy Nick Wright, well-known Josh Allen supporter, it is hard for me to say they shouldn't have done this deal because every team in the league coming off the year Josh Allen just had

after being a top-ton draft pick would have done this deal. Am I comfortable paying Josh Allen like he's one of the five best quarterbacks in football? Absolutely not. Do I understand why the bills did it? Sure. Do I think this contract potentially could be something they were, regret, yes, but I also understand every team in the league would do it. Well, almost every team. Some teams in the league have a guy like, you know, Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rogers, so they'd be

very sad if they had Josh Allen. Speaking of Aaron Rogers, Jay Glazer, it broke some major news in one of the most bizarre ways I've ever seen anyone break news. It was mid-sentence while talking about a bunch of things in the pregame show last night. He drops this. He drops this, massive, I think it's massive breaking news about Aaron Rogers, here it is. As far as Aaron Rogers and the last dad's look, they have about six months to try and repair that relationship. If at the end of this year,

Aaron Rogers decides he wants out, they have to trade Aaron Rogers. They've agreed to it already. So there you go. They've agreed to it already. If he wants out, they've got to trade him. and short of being traded this off season, it's about the best Aaron could have hoped for. Now, we talked to Coach Manjini about this earlier, and he basically said,

handshake deals are worth the paper they're written on, which is nothing, they're not even written on paper, but I don't totally agree with that in this regard. I think if a handshake deal on, we will give you a contract, extension is worth very little. But a handshake deal on we will essentially release you or trade you

is worth a little more because the person on the receiving end of it does have the leverage of being able to withhold their services with the very legitimate argument of you broke your commitment. And so Rogers, after winning MVP, and he was very clear about it in that great press conference, gave a couple weeks ago, thought he had dessert, earned the right to be locked in with guaranteed

money, which meant guaranteed security to Green Bay. Green Bay did not want to do that. So his response then was, well, then trade me. They wouldn't do that. So now I think the best he could have hoped for was okay, well then trade me a year from now. We all agree that this will be my last year. And it's not exactly a gold medal or a silver medal, but might be a bronze medal as far as him getting what he hoped for or what he wanted out of the Packers this offseason with Randall Cobb being a nice little consolation prize as well. Speaking of Packers receivers,

a very interesting article on Syracuse.com about Aaron Rogers' old friend Jake Kumro. Jake Coomero of very little fame other than Rogers loves him. Bounce around practice squads, very few NFL catches and touchdowns. Jake Coomero is impressing at Buffalo Bills Camp. Let's put up the full screen. This is from Syracuse.com. Cumero has been the biggest playmaker of the bunch behind Stefan Diggs

since training camp began last week. He's made big catches, been up to the championship. in some of the bill's best defensive backs. On Thursday, Emmanuel Sanders wasn't practicing. That meant Coomero had more opportunities to show off what he can do. And he looked like a superstar. Jake Coomero, superstar.

Listen, I don't say this lightly, and people will think I'm joking, I'm not. If Jake Coomero turns into a star with the bills, Brian Guttenkunds has to resign. The gauntlet's been throwing out. If Aaron Rogers was right about Coomero, who they could have kept for 600 grand, and they let him go,

they could have plucked him off the practice squad last year, and they didn't. If he actually turns, because I just assumed Rogers liked hanging out with Coomero, they were buddies, maybe they golfed together, play cards. If Coomero is actually a really good player, and Gudenkoons alienated, at least partially alienated his quarterback over not bringing back a basically free wide receiver and that wide receiver turns into a star,

then I think Gudenkun Kuntz has to resign. So Gudenkoons got a lot writing on how well Jake Kumero does the rest of this preseason and then potentially into the year. Or he could just try to trade for him right now. You'd be buying at its peak, not its valley, but still might be worth it. So a little breaking news, Josh Allen gets a new deal. Jay Glazer breaks some news last night, mid-sentence. Jake Coomero breaking eyeballs at Bill's training camp.

That and the outdoor hockey game that they do every year, I forget what that's called, my apologies. Oh, I've covered them.

Are like the two coolest from a visual standpoint as a sports fan. Like you get the game itself, but it's just the whole kind of landscape of it all is great. So that Thursday at 6 Eastern on Fox. Today at right now Eastern, Eastern, Chris Roussard joins us. us to discuss a little NBA. All right, Brew. We'll get to the Ben Simmons stuff, and there's a lot of things we need to get to.

But, you know, your and my friend, Charles Barkley, jumped on with my, I don't know if you know this, former mentor, Bob Costas, a man who wrote me a letter recommendation to Syracuse University. True story. Great man, arguably, the greatest sports journalist ever. And they spent former. minutes talking nonsense about LeBron.

So, we don't have to play the sound. Barkley was like, listen, basically there's beauty in the struggle. LeBron ran from the struggle. You know, it's one of the things he said, you know, Michael didn't run from the struggle, and then he talked about how impressive Janus's title was. Your thoughts, before I give mine and we go back and forth on it, on Barclay's take on LeBron and him always trying to stack the deck, as he put it.

Well, in the context of that, he said he's got Jordan and Kobe ahead of LeBron, presumably because of what you just said. As you know, I've got Jordan 1, LeBron 2. LeBron playing on these super teams isn't like a huge factor in why I've got Jordan ahead of him. And the evidence is that I've got LeBron ahead of everybody else. And a lot of other guys that didn't play on super teams, I still have LeBron ahead of them. I will say this. I do think the most impressive way to win is through the struggle, the Jordan, the Isaiah Thomas, the Janus way.

But it is not easy. I don't downplay winning it on a super team. And Barclay should know that more than anyone else, how it is not easy even to win it when you have other superstars with you. He was drafted to a Philadelphia 76ers team that was two years removed from sweeping showtime. All right, sweeping Magic and Kareem. And when Barclay got there,

Moses Malone was still a 24 and 13 guy. Dr. Jay was getting older, but he averaged 20 Barclay's rookie year. Andrew Tony, Maurice Cheeks. They played together for a few years, never got to the finals. Then an older Barclay goes to join Elijah Wine, Clyde Drexler, and Houston.

They played two years together. Don't get to the final. the finals and then Pippin replaces Drexler. They got Scotty Pippen of King Melajuan and Charles Barkley and they get bounced in the first round. So Barclay should know better than anyone that even playing with other superstars is not easy and still does not guarantee you a championship. Well, and let's, there's a few things here.

One is you mentioned it. The 83 Sixers might have been the greatest team ever. It's at least in the argument. Berkeley got drafted by the 85 Sixers. He's there two years later. The whole Corps is still there. The first year they make the conference finals, never make it back there. And I think it's noteworthy that then they, you know, a few years later they trade Moses.

Dr. Jay retires. And 92, all of a sudden the Sixers missed the playoffs. And Barclays like, I'm getting out of here. And in fact, Phoenix be great. They've won 54 years in a row. And then in Phoenix, after they make the finals immediately, and Berkeley was spectacular, they lose back-to-back years in seven to Houston.

And Berkeley's like, I want to go play there. But the Kobe thing is the thing that bothers me. And this is not disrespectful to the late great Kobe Bryant. Him putting him ahead of LeBron? Well, with the rationale being partly, will LeBron stack the deck? You don't need to stack a deck if you're drafted to a team with Shaquille O'Neal.

And Broussard, tell me if I have my history wrong here. But when Shaq left and Kobe missed the playoffs and then at back-to-back first round exits, this is back when you worked at the other network, didn't he go on Stephen A. Smith's radio show and say, I think I should be traded? Once Kobe had a struggle.

Once all of a sudden, Kobe was dealing with what LeBron had dealt with for seven years in Cleveland. It's like, I've got I Renewable, you've got Sasha Pavlovich. In fact, I think they both had Sasha Pavlovich at one point in time. This sucks. Kobe wanted out. Like, that did happen, right? People forget that, and they throw Kobe in that group with Jordan and I say, oh, he went through the struggle.

Kobe demanded a trade. Kobe won it out. Remember we was talking about going to the Bulls? There was even talk he might go to the Clippers, but you're right. He gets drafted to the team with Shaq. And that, look, Magic gets drafted to the team with Kareem. Kareem was the league MVP Magic's rookie year. Burr gets drafted.

It was a bad Boston team that drafted Byrd, but they still had several Hall of Famers who were past their prime. Tiny Archibald, Dave Cowan's, Pistel Pete. But the next year, you know, you get McKell and Parrish and these others. And Burr goes on the run. So LeBron, Lerner. Look, he gave Cleveland seven years for them to put other stars around him or try to win. And they didn't.

So he said, let me go do it. And he did. And it's worked out for him. And I'll say this too, Nick, because a lot of people might not know this, because LeBron is like the king recruiter now. He's the best player recruiter we've ever seen in NBA history. All right. But early in his career, he didn't recruit.

And that may have hurt him. Because remember, Michael Redd was a free agent, I believe 06, Ray Allen was a free agent. And LeBron really wasn't interested in recruiting guys. I've talked to him early in his career. I think he felt like me, you, Kyle Hurd, and Skip Bayliss could have won a championship with LeBron. I think he was that certain he was going to win it.

And so early in his career, he didn't recruit all he did when Michael Red was a free agent. Red was from Columbus, Ohio. He would have wanted to play for the Cavs. And LeBron just made like a generic video for the Cavs to show to all the recruits or free agents. And that was it. And had he really tried to go after Michael Red, Red would have went there.

Nike was willing to make up the difference in money Red would have to leave on the table. And so had LeBron done that then, they might have been able to win a championship. Who knows? Yeah, and listen, LeBron basically did take, take you, me, Colin, and Skip to the finals in 07. I think it'd be tough with Skip.

I don't know if Skip would actually pass the ball to LeBron so that could screw some things up. But aside from that, that's basically what he did in 07. But we don't have to talk about, we can move on from there. All right, let's talk to Ben Simmons. And I actually, because I haven't talked with you about this. So Ben Simmons reportedly is, you know, not talking to the Sixers. And we'll start there.

Do you have a problem with that? Because I don't. Like, that's what agents are for. I, like, there's, if you are having, you're in conflict with your employer and you're in our business or in pro sports, I think it's totally fine to be like, talk to my agent. Do you have a problem with it? Right. I don't have a problem with the agent, in this case, Rich Paul, being the main communicator.

We all do that. You know, when we negotiate our contracts, our agents do it. but if the team is reaching out to Ben trying to help him with his workouts, trying to help him with his shooting, if Joel Embed is reaching out, and he's not answering the phone or not answering their text or whatever, he's ghosted them,

I do have a problem with that. And I don't think they should be at odds. I do get that Ben is looking at this, like Doc Rivers said he's not sure he can win a championship with me. All right? Joe L.M.B. pointed out to my, play when I pass the ball to Matisse Stibble instead of shooting a layup as the turning point of the game in the series defining moment. So I get why Ben would be upset, but I think Ben

has to go past that and look in the mirror. And the way, if he is ghosting them and not responding to text, not responding to their ideas about how he should be working out this summer, then I think that is a refusal or an unwillingness to look in the mirror. I don't think he, like, even though, and he's justified in looking at what Doc said and looking at what MB said, but ultimately, I think Ben needs to look in the mirror. Ben needs to ultimately say, you know, I did shoot 34% from the free throw line in the playoffs. I haven't been shooting jumpers like I do in the offseason when I'm playing these pickup games. I did run from the basketball.

No matter how good you are, Nick, Jordan, LeBron, Kareem, whoever, you always, people in our business, you always need to be able to look in the mirror and see where you fell short and then go to fix it. And what's transpiring right now, if the reports are true, I don't think that that just shows me Ben is not yet looking in the mirror and realizing, for what all they said, it might have been wrong, but I'm, I was a big part of the problem. I didn't do my job. So the part of this report also was that he's good with the California teams, which there's four teams in California. The Lakers can't trade for him.

The Clippers can't trade for him because neither are going to have draft picks. I guess the Kings could. And, you know, Deerrin Fox and stuff. I doubt he's good with the Kings, too. I was going to, right, that's what I was going to say is. But with respect to my wife's hometown, I don't know, Ben Simmons, like, sign me up for Sacramento. So it seems like we're talking Golden State. and there was a report that Daryl asked for the two picks 7 and 14 plus two future picks

Wiseman and Wiggins for Simmons. And the almost universal response was that is an ridiculous ask by Daryl Moore. Broussard, I would have done that if I'm Golden State. If I'm Golden State, I look at the West and I, you think are, okay, so let's talk about this. I look at the West and I say, you're, you're, you're a good thing. as crazy as Mori. Okay, but hold on. If you're a Golden State,

you look at the West, there's only one team clearly better than you in the Lakers. With that said, Cominga is 18 years old. Moody is 19 years old. They're not going to play a single important

playoff minute for you this year. Steph is 33, turning 34. Clay, part of his value, has been locked down defense. There's no way to know if Clay is going to come back anything close to that level of defender

after those devastating injuries. You can win right now. If you have Steph, Clay, Ben, and Dremond, that is a championship contender. Why wouldn't you do that if you're Golden State? Why wouldn't you pay a premium to try to win in Steph Curry's window?

Well, you know that Daryl's history is this is how he starts off trade negotiations, right? He asks for the moon, the sun, the stars, the sky, everything, and you work your way down. So I wouldn't be surprised if they work their way down. Here's the thing, Nick, though, and I love Draymond. If I've got Ben Simmons, I don't want Ben Simmons and Draymond on the same team. Because Ben is just a better, younger version of Draymond.

And so to me, Draymond needs to be in that deal. and I and I think Draymond would actually be good for the Sixers because they need a leader in the locker room he's a great defender so they wouldn't lose as much there and you know so I think that would be good

I mean they got to get more but Draymond to me has to be an idea I get it he's the inspirational leader of the warriors and all of that but he is older and Ben is a younger better version of him right now and so I

I do think Golden State would love to get Ben. I think he'd be a terrific fit, but I think Drayman has to be a part of that. And you and I, I just think the 7 to 14, Wiggins and Wiseman, that's way too much. I'd love to keep Wiseman if I can if I'm Golden State, but if he has to go in the deal, so be it. You and I, I know you got Wiggins on like your 89th tier

of your NBA player picks and all that. That's why. I couldn't figure out why you hated that. I think I've convinced you. You've got Wiggins as a great player. You've got Wiggins as friends of the fame. I forgot about your love for the Wiggins. I have convinced you.

You got to admit you have come over to my side as a third scoring option and as the fourth or fifth best player on the team. You can't be to Andrew Wiggins. He had a nice year. He'll give me 18 to 20 points and he played really good defense. You know he played really good defense. So Wiggins in the spot he's in, I love him. I love him.

But if I had to give him up for Simmons, I would grudgingly. I got to get something back from Philly, some shooting, some score, something like that. But I would love to see Ben Simmons in Golden State. But don't you think, you don't think Draymond has to go? Because I don't think those two play together. I don't know. I get it. Two non-shooters, but paired with the two best shooters in basketball.

I guess it depends on who your fifth starter is. I think you could make it. I just think you would have the two best shooters in basketball and arguably the two best defenders in basketball in Draymond and Ben. Like I think that's a tough team. Well, the Clippers have reportedly agreed to re-sign Reggie Jackson to a two-year deal. It's said to be worth $22 million. He averaged 10.7 points and shot 43.3% from the three point range last season in L.A. So this is good for the Clippers. You know, Jackson, he stepped up when Kauai got injured in the playoffs. But I think the most curious part of this whole situation for the Clippers is that Kauai Leonard is still a free agent. He hasn't signed anything and we haven't heard anything yet.

Nothing. Okay, so you nailed both of these points. First of all, Reggie Jackson was outstanding in the postseason. He's a guy that I had never trusted in big spots ever in his whole career. And then last year, he was great for them. He deserves a ton of credit. And because of the way the salary cap works and the CBA, this is actually the most money the Clippers could offer him was this exact deal.

So if he wanted to stay with the Clippers, they gave him the most money they could have. But what is Kauai waiting on? There's no team left really with the cap space to sign him. The Clippers are going to give him whatever deal he wants, which I am sure is going to be a one plus one. It is baffling to me, Alex, that this is not done yet. Oh, yeah. I know why Dennis Schrooter's not done yet. I get it because he doesn't know where he's going.

Why is Quay-Lennard not re-signed yet? I don't. That to me is like an underrated big story. This should have been done three days ago. So I don't get that at all, but this is a good re-signed for the Clippers. Exactly. It's a big mystery. All right, moving on, Peyton Manning will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this weekend. And his old rival, Tom Brady, is even making the trip, but Peyton says he'll be happy to have him there.

Got some old rivals. Tom Brady's coming in, sitting in my section. You know, I'm not sure how my Colts teammates will handle that. But that means a lot that he's taking the time and Bruce Ariens and just people that have been a part of my football journey, for them to take the time to fly here to Canton, to be here for this ceremony, really means a lot. I look forward to celebrating with them. That is mad respect right there.

That is a goat move to go and be there and pay your respects to your biggest rival throughout your career. I love this. I'm a big fan of both Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, so good job, Tom. That's what I think about it. And listen, I know that I am a somewhat well-known for me and Tom Brady critic at times.

But what is to me, almost incomprehensible about this is Tom Brady is going to be attending Peyton Manning's Hall of Fame induction as the defending Super Bowl champion think about that so it's not just the Tom Brady outlasted Peyton but he in the last football game that was played Tom Brady won the Super Bowl Peyton Manning has not played a football game in five years Like there was a time where So like early on

The Brady Manning stuff It tilted way in Brady's favor Because even though Manning had all the stats Brady kept beating him in the playoffs Then Manning got his ring in 06 And then Manning beat him When Manning went back to Denver And Manning set or went to Denver

And set all those records And Brady hadn't won a Super Bowl in a decade And it was like oh boy Maybe like maybe Peyton's gonna retake The reins of the Brady Manning rivalry And then Brady since then's won four more Super Bowls. It's just incomprehensible. And good job by Tom for showing up.

This is really cool. And he's going to be sitting with all the Colts teammates. That too is going to be funny sitting in Peyton Manning's section. So this is, I love this all around. This is another story I really like. Nick Siriani has some of the most memorable moments at the podium since becoming the Eagles head coach. And he added to his highlight reel with an explanation of why he should.

showed his players a video of a hot dog eating contest. Our fifth core value is fundamentals. And Kobayashi, there's this video of Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut competing and they go and like, why is Kobayashi, why is Kobayashi so good at eating hot dogs? Well, the detail and the fundamentals that he puts into it and you're laughing, and he has to have the right temperature water to dunk the thing.

He's got to break the hot dog perfectly in half. And like, so my point on that is like, yeah, we're all seeing this we're all watching, it's like, what's the point of that? If you want to be the best in the world at what you do, right, on the football field, it comes down to the little things, and that right there was a fundamental. I could not keep a straight face watching that entire press. Remember, this is the same guy who played rock, paper, scissors, with his draft prospect. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Maybe he's trying to keep it fun. He's trying to keep it light. But if it's week one, a training camp, and you are showing your players video of a hot dog eating contest to try to motivate them, we might need to have a conversation about your motivation tactics. This is... Also, a couple things.

One is, Kobayashi lost to, always lost to Joey Chestnut. He said he showed him a Kobayashi chestnut video. I know enough about the Nathan's hot dog eating contest. No, Kobayashi was the best in the world, and then Joey Chestnut just kept beating him

and beating him and beating him, and Chestnut's won like seven in a row now. That's first of all. Second of all, I understand the point he's making. It's just such an odd way to make it. The point that, if you want to be the best in the world at something, all the details matter, I get that. But to make it, to make the point through hot dog eating contest visuals,

it's just so odd. Listen, I don't know if he's going to be a good or a bad head coach, But the press conferences have not been kind to him. They just haven't been. But it's going to be such a funny highlight reel of all of his press conferences together right now. You've got to give him that. It's comedy. Yeah.

He's 161st in passing yards, 121st in passing touchdowns, 113 in wins. He's not a Hall of Famer yet. He's just really talented.

No, Colin, you're wrong. And I understand, yes, he is not going to be in the top 100 in counting because of how few games he has played. But how well has he played in those few games? Can we show where he ranks in NFL history through 54 games? Oh, it's the most wins, it's the most passing yards, it's the most touchdowns, it's the second fewest interceptions, and it's the highest passer rating. And by the way, if you remove first 54 starts, who has the highest pass rating in NFL history?

Patrick Mahomes. Who has the best touchdown interception ratio in NFL history? Patrick Mahomes. Who is the best winning percentage for any quarterback with at least 50 starts? Patrick Mahomes. But it's not just that. Have you won an NFL MVP and a Super Bowl? Show me the list of guys who have, and let's see how many of them are Hall of Famers.

Oh, wait. All of them, except for the three guys who are not yet eligible for it. Brady, Rogers, Mahomes. If you win a league MVP and you win a Super Bowl MVP, you make the Hall of Fame. Terrell Davis would be the running back comp for Mahomes. He's there. Terrell Davis was really only great for three years, and that was great enough to make the Hall of Fame. All right, what about quarterbacks judge a little differently?

What about a quarterback who has won a league MVP, and forget Super Bowl MVP, just won a Super Bowl? Oh, wait, all of them, except for Joe Disman, are in the Hall of Fame, up to an including Kin Stabler. Kurt Warner, who again, very similar to Mahomes. Now, Warner had three exceptional years with the Rams, and then one great year with the Cardinals, another very good year with the Cardinals, another very good year with the Rams. But Warner would be the comp here. He's in the Hall of Fame.

Thankfully for me and my sanity and my gambling pocketbook and my sports fandom, Patrick Mahomes is not going to retire this year. But if Patrick Mahomes retired today, he's a Hall of Famer. There is something to be said for

is there a period of time where, let me say it like this, if you can answer yes to both of these questions, you're a Hall of Famer in any sport. Was there a period of time where you were the absolute unquestioned best in the world at your job

and did you produce at that level in the biggest moments meaning postseason. If you can answer yes to both of those questions, you are a Hall of Famer in any sport.

So, I don't know what the baseball comp, Mookie Betts, Hall of Famer already. Produced in the postseason in the World Series was one league MVP's, Hall of Famer.

Don't care if he plays again. I will take that Like anyone right now that would argue that Jason Whitten has a better Hall of Fame case than Patrick Mahomes, you just consume sports differently than me. If you'd rather the guy who never spent a single day of his career as the unquestioned best in the world at his position, but instead was in the top eight for 12 years at his position, rather than a guy who lit the world on fire for three years, won a Super Bowl, made another,

won an AFC championship game, or made an AFC championship game, I should say, then you just, you value different things than me. I will always take the flame that burns incredibly bright for a short period of time over the dull flame that never goes to. out. Now, for Mahomes, he's going to have the best of both worlds, I would imagine. I think he's going to play for a very long time and be awesome for a very long time. But Aaron Rogers
