It took a glance at the last couple days. Oh, Lord. Yeah. Thanks for joining us, America. Thank you. America. So last night, Joy, I was watching Hard Knocks. Yes, same.

And then the Dodgers played the Pirates, and I found myself flipping back and forth because Hard Knocks was boring. And that's actually great news for the Dallas Cowboys. You're officially boring. You're a boring team. You ever have somebody in your family? Think about your family for a second. You're driving around listening to me. You're watching me on TV.

Anybody in your family that's always got a lot of drama? They're the most successful people in your family? There's a name for people that don't have a lot of drama. It's called successful people. Successful people tend to have smarter life habits, better life habits. They can see problems, dilemmas before they happen. And I watch the Cowboys now. Dax's a grownup, and Amari Cooper's a grownup, and DeMarcus Lawrence, I watch the show, looks like a grownup, and Zach Martin's a grownup, and Tyrone Smith's a grownup, and Jalen Smith's, uh, boring.

The Kansas City Chiefs, for all their stars, are remarkably quiet. Patrick Mahomes goes home to his beautiful wife and child, has dinner and watches film. The loudest cowboy in the last several years was Zeke. Remember those first couple years came out of college? It was a tire fire. There was something every week. And now he's really matured. Remember Des Bryant? He never did. Tim Duncan in the Spurs dynasty.

That lasted for 15 years. Brady's dynasty in New England. That lasted for almost 20. You know what they never were noisy. You start looking around this league. The Steelers in the 70s, in the 80s and the 90s, most of my life, the Pittsburgh Steelers, worthy franchise of no formidable blue collar IBM. And then about five years ago, the Steelers got, I don't know if you noticed, really noisy.

And they've never recovered. You know who isn't? Buffalo is quiet. Kansas City for their stars. I don't hear much. Baltimore. Lamar Jackson, I see him occasionally get off that jet ski. That's about it.

It's about all I hear. Ozzie Newsom's been one of the best general managers and executives in this league for 25, 30 years. I don't know if I've ever heard him talk. L.A. Rams, Joy and I are here. It's amazing. They're in Los Angeles. They might as well be in Jacksonville. You have to squeeze information out of Aaron Donald.

You never hear about them. They're never in trouble. In fact, they brought in a loud guy, Jalen Ramsey, who once brought a brink truck to a Jags practice. Even he's pretty quiet now. I've watched this show Hard Knocks for years. The two loudest teams were Hugh Jackson's Browns and Rex Ryan's Jets. How did that end up? Folks, the only news Tampa's made this offseason,

hey, we re-signed all our star players. I want to congratulate the Cowboys for graduating to boring and adulthood. It's a good sign. In fact, the loudest Cowboys, Jerry Jones, the crazy owner. Swear to God, he's the only one making noise anymore. Heard brought to you by Jersey Mike's B.S. Up above. So this is interesting. Jamal Adams, middle of our show yesterday, has agreed to a contract for the Seahawks.

So let's start. It's a very positive show. Let's start with a good news. Jamal Adams is great, and now he's well compensated. And that gives Seattle five great players. either in their prime or darn close to it. Russell Wilson, Jamal Adams, Dwayne Brown, Bobby Wagner, D.K. Metcalf.

I've always said in the NBA, you've got to have at least two great players in their prime to win a championship. Really, really good players. Ideally, if you get three like Katie, Stefan Clay, you've got a dynasty. But if you have two great players in their prime, that's a championship team.

And in the NFL, you need like, Five minimum, hopefully six. You know, Kansas City may have seven. Well, then you're favored to win the Super Bowl. So that's the good news. You look around the NFL. The organizations right now, they have at least five, hopefully six great players. It's Tampa Bay.

It's Baltimore. It's Kansas City. You know, it's the 49ers. It's now the Seahawks. It's Green Bay. Now, I've always said, once you get great, you should take all the money you can. All the money you can, your first two contracts. But I do think Russell Wilson will have a decision to make.

And I know his wife isn't Giselle. And I know like Aaron Rogers, maybe he doesn't have the big state farm commercial. But there are times in life that money is not the most important thing. I'll give you an example, transportation. Just spend the money on a car. Watch car breaking down. I want to be late to that big meeting.

You want to get the label at work? Yeah, Bob's undependable. cars always breaking down. Just pay. Just pay for the car. Just have reliable transportation. By the way, you'll lose money on it. Cars are a depreciating asset.

Houses aren't. Boats actually don't lose their value over time. But cars do. You drive it off the lot. It's worth 30% less. Take the loss. It's worth losing money. You do not want to be undependable person at work.

You don't want to be late to a big wedding. You don't want to be late to work. You don't want to be late to a meeting. you don't want to be late to pick up your kids. You don't want to be late to put your kids in a recital or practice. Lose money on that. And it's very interesting. I think Russell Wilson, after this year, has to start graduating to a different class.

So I've always believed in the NFL for great quarterbacks. There's two classes. There's the first two contracts, 22 to 32. Take every penny. 32 and beyond. Don't. Take a loss. Now players in the NBA and NFL have revenue streams seven figures annually in social media.

You saw the Patrick Mahomes shoe deal. Russell will get one of those. NFL players now have multiple revenue streams. This is what Drew Breeze and Brady figured out. Drew Breeze, first two contracts took all the money, should. Saints were losing. Last couple took a little less. By the way, made it up.

in endorsements and eventually an NBC TV deal, but he elevated his brand because he was winning. Drew Brees is not working at NBC if he's seven and nine his last five years. He's not. He's not getting those gigs. Kirk Cousin's not getting that gig. So for quarterback, and I'm somebody, take all the money, but the world has changed for NBA stars and quarterbacks.

They are now getting shoe deals. They can now make millions on Instagram, and Russell's not there yet. But if Russell's 9 and 8 and out of the playoffs every year, because he's running for his life, or he's 12 and 5 in getting to the conference championship, Russell's going to walk right out of this. He'll have made $11 million less, had better teammates, made it back in shoes, made it back in Instagram. and I think he's getting very close to this because if you look at Seattle, they're going to have to pay D.K. Metcalf in a year. Isn't Russell better with D.K. Metcalf?

He's certainly better with Dwayne Brown. I'm not saying to do it now. He's not there yet. But I think with Aaron Rogers, you're getting to a point where Aaron is better taking a little less and winning games. Brady figured it out. Drew Brees figured it out. and I think the next two guys are Aaron and Russell. So I'm happy for Jamal Adams, but just know they got to get that Dwayne Brown thing and that D.K. Metcalf thing figured out in the next year and a half, those fellows going to be

expensive and those guys absolutely make Russell Wilson more viable through his endorsements. Social media make him a bigger deal. So there are times where you take a little less, You take a loss, just spend money on the car. And the minute it drives off the lot, you lost 10 grand. You just lost 10 grand. You don't want to be the guy that is always late to the meeting because your car broke down. All right.

We got a lot of stuff today. A lot of stuff. You know, football, you know, if I was in Canada, I would talk hockey. If I was in England, I'd talk English primarily. but it is interesting to watch when football season starts. It's almost like we just get, it's like the train stops in our little station and people get off that had passed us for several months. So it is nice to have you back.

I just looked at the NFL schedule this weekend. A lot of rookie quarterbacks. Some are facing each other. We are officially in football. I had stopped for a couple of years talking about Tim Tebow after he was released in the NFL and then he decided to pursue baseball. And so we talked about him again. He never had a chance to make the NFL.

He was now just the first guy cut by the worst roster in the NFL, trying to be a fourth string tight end on a team that doesn't even have one great one. And that's okay. There's nothing to celebrate, really. Urban Myers' friend had to let him go. Tough decision. But Drew Bledsoe, who played in the NFL, he had a brother who was a very good high school football player and a very good college football player.

And he was a quarterback, and he tried to switch the tight end in his career. And Drew Bledso talked about it yesterday on our show. My brother played at Colorado. He was a quarterback. And then he tried to switch to tight in one year. And he's a big, strong dude, like Tim, and he's real athletic. But he called me about a weekend. He goes, dude, you have no idea what it's like going from playing quarterback,

where you get hit and so on it. But to running into these athletes on a daily basis and trying to learn to block those guys when you're not used to that and haven't grown up with it, It's an almost insurmountable challenge. Yeah, so I'll stop talking about Tebow when he stops chasing his dreams, but he is newsworthy. And a lot of Tebow fans are absolute hypocrites. Let me ask you, if Tebow would have made the Jaguars opening day roster, you would have been outraged if I didn't acknowledge it.

Hater, agenda! You know you would. No, no, no, don't point fingers. Own it. You would have been outraged. outraged if I did not acknowledge he made the team. So I'm supposed to not talk about it when he's the first guy cut? They're one of the first guys in the league cut.

It's like I remember liberals getting mad that the media was covering Trump when he ran for president. My takeaway was, well, he was newsworthy before he ran for president. His divorces, his divorces, his casinos. So the media is not supposed to cover Trump as he runs for president. Good God, we covered Kanye West for about two weeks. there are certain people in America that are newsworthy. They're not always great. They're not always great artists or great politicians, but they're newsworthy.

That is an industry onto itself. So like Tebow, it's almost childlike, this dreamlike pursuit, that's fine. But when you come into the league battling for a fourth tight end spot on a horrible roster, horrible by NFL standards, and you lead the NFL, NFL in merchandise, you're newsworthy. And you would have demanded we talk about it if he made the team. So therefore, when he's the first guy cut, that is newsworthy too. When Tim stops pursuing these highly unrealistic dreams, all stop talking about him. I stopped talking about it for two years until he played baseball in which I actually thought he had a chance to make the big league

team. Not long term, not to be good, but make it. Here's Urban Meyer on releasing him. Is this the end of the road for Tim, NFL, professional football? I would guess it is. You know, we didn't get that deep with it. Obviously, he's his own man. Elite warrior, elite competitor, but he's also 34 years old. Just admit it, you don't like the result of this Tebow dream. You're not really bothered by the news that I talk about it because you would have demanded did I talk about it had he made the team? You just don't like how it ended. And so we're in that finger-pointing era. Your fault, your fault, your fault. You just don't like the end result.

But you want us to talk about him. He's just not good enough to play in this league. He's a great guy. He's not an NFL player. Joy of the News. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the Herdline News. Why is it so cute to be a zealot these days? would have been a hater. Agenda! Who's got the agenda? Guys, take a deep breath.

So the NBA has announced the Christmas Day schedule for the 2021, 2021 season, kicks off with Hawks Nix in Atlanta's first Christmas Day game since 1989, which I think is really fun. They had a great season, so do the Nix, reward them with the Christmas Day game. Well, Trey Young. Yeah, I mean, yes, he was, it was a, Tray Young arrival party for the, for the whole country. If you took Tray Young out of those teams, they wouldn't be on television. Trey Young. Tray Young. He's the star. And the Knicks have a huge fan base and they had a

good season last year. So I think you should reward both of them. I'm excited to see that. Then it's the Celtics at Milwaukee. Jason Tatum, Yonis, stars. Warriors at Suns. Steph, Devin Booker stars. Nets at Lakers. Tons of stars. And Mavs at Jats. Luca, Donovan Mitchell. The league doesn't do this by accident. No. Who's missing? Well, we don't see Zion on there. What does that tell you? So, I mean,

don't kid yourself. This is not happenstance. Trey Young, Jason Tatum, Janus, Steph, Booker, Katie Hardin, LeBron, Luca, Donovan Mitchell. They put their stars. No Zion. Well, I think it tells you that

Zion's team isn't very good on top of I mean, all of these teams were extremely competitive last year, so there's something to that as well. I mean, if you're habitually not making the playoffs, no matter how big of a star you are, unless you are... Now, think about this. LeBron, I don't know how you can reward that. How do you think this plays in Zion's camp? Oh, I don't think it's going over very well at all. Third coach, three years, you don't kid yourself.

This feels like nothing. This is the most watched NBA day until the conference finals. shoe companies, agents, Zion's not in that game. It's a terrible moment for the Pelicans. He's going to stay there? No, he's not. Because they are not happy this morning.

I'll give you an example. You think it's ridiculous, right? That doesn't matter. Folks, I've been covering this for 30, 40 years. You'd be amazed at what matters. Like in the Seahawks right now, they got Jamal Adams deal done before Dwayne Brown. Russell Wilson's camp's not happy.

Guarantee you. So you don't talk about it. I guarantee you. So just think about this. I know people that have gone to weddings and they're upset with where they sat at the wedding. Like they don't, I've gone to corporate dinners. We're like, well, how come I'm not at the table with the CEO? This stupid stuff matters.

And Zion not being on the Christmas day is something his people are, you know what? Nothing is everything, but everything is something. Everything's something. And yes, I would, I would. agree that this is something, but the pelicans have no one to blame but themselves. You're your third coach. You're right. And, you know, for everyone talking about, oh, Zion isn't a star yet, and he shouldn't be complaining. And why is he held to a certain standard, but the organization is not held to the same standard that we hold the star to? You don't want stars weighing in. You don't

want stars using their influence and their power. You don't want stars making decisions on personnel, but you don't want to hold the organizations accountable when they mess it up with the stars that they get. and waste years and years of guys' prime moments. So it's telling you right now, Atlanta, which by the way has a very, very good front office, Atlanta, Trey Young, the league is telling you, is now better for us on TV than Zion. It is not playing well in Zion's camp. Well, Justin Fields got fans very excited with his performance in his first preseason game, and one of the skills that he showcased was his speed.

According to next-gen stats, he reached a top speed of 20.39 miles per hour. These are ridiculous. On his 21-yard run against Miami, we're showing it here. He's not even full speed. It was full-speed, but that's how fast he is. That's what I'm saying. That was third fastest amongst all ball carriers during the first week of the preseason. He's not even, right, right here.

I mean, that's pretty fast. That's outrunning either of us. Can I say this is so ridiculous. The two most ridiculous thing in sports. are measuring how fast players run. Who cares? The second one, they're doing baseball now.

If you hit a ball out of the park, a ball left at 122 miles an hour. You don't get any extra runs for that. Why are we measuring this stuff? I mean, it's fun to know. I think it's pretty interesting that he was the third fastest among all ball carriers

during the first week of the preseason. Let me get, hold on, let me pull it up. Tyree Kill didn't play. Well, yeah. I mean, it's not the starters. So, like, you're not going to have those guys out there. to measure against. But, you know, you go against your...

Do fans care about... Cuez Watkins of the Eagles and KJ Hamler? Yeah, he's fast. Ryan, you're a generation kid. Let me have a question for you. What generation are you? Z, millennial. Ryan's like 13.

How old are you, Ryan? I'm a millennial. Okay. How old are you, Ryan? 29. A child. I'm so much older than you. We give him the whole control board.

It's very dangerous. I don't know why you did. What? Do you care how fast a ball leaves the part? or how fast a player runs? The baseball one, not so much, but I think in football, it's interesting because they measure it. Like, we talk about the 40 a lot for athleticism, but how fast a player actually runs on the field

I think matters a little bit. All right. Yeah, I'm wrong. I thought it was interesting. Okay. I'm also a millennial. So Aaron Donald's resume is already full, but one thing he is missing is a Super Bowl win. And Rams coach Sean McVeigh is also hoping he can help his defensive star reach that goal.

He's saying, shame on me. if Donald doesn't get one in his career. They have a good chance to make it happen this season. According to Fox Bet, the Rams are tied for fourth best odds to win the Super Bowl at plus 1,400. Hate the Cam Acres injury. I can't. I do.

I also do not like that. They don't have a number one running back. And this is a McVeigh's offense is you think it's a passing offense. It's a power running offense and they throw a ton off play action. So, I mean, are you leaning on this very early and you have lots of amendments to make? when you look at those odds, who are you? Give me the odds again. Who is it?

Chiefs plus 500, they're favored. Buccaneers plus 650. Yeah. The Bills plus 1,200 and the Rams are tied with the Niners at plus 1,400. I would be, I would not go anywhere near the Niners because they can't trust Jimmy Garoppolo. I don't know what trade is. I would say there's three teams that should be favored and there's about six. Rams are one of them that should.

Like there's two levels to this. Bill's Chiefs, Buck should be favored. And then there's Baltimore and there's Rams and there's Seattle and Green. Then there's a bunch of something doesn't quite feel right. They're missing something. The top three aren't missing anything. You've got star quarterbacks. You've got great coaches.

The other ones are like, I don't know if the coach is right. Is the quarterback right? A lot of things will have to go right throughout the season for them to get there. The top three feel pretty solid. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping you. The Heard Lye News.

Joy Taylor, I feel like on her vacation, I could have geotagged her at each and every beautiful stop. For all America knew, I died.

I was gone only to reappear with you guys, two of my favorite people in the world. Thank you for having me on. You bet. Let's start with Tebow. Last time, we'll probably talk about him forever, right? You know, I say all these Tebow fans are hypocrites. They would demand I talk about him if he made the team, but they don't. don't want me to talk about him when he gets cut and he is newsworthy. So I've never felt,

listen, when you go into the league and you have been out for eight years and you leave the NFL in merchandise sales, you're newsworthy. I'm going to talk about you. Where do you land with it? Well, listen, I land that I think, and I know this is a former colleague and I think a friend of yours. So I say this with immense respect. But I think this pretty much certifies this was a mistake by Urban Meyer. I don't know what was gained for. from it other than maybe one could say it demonstrated immense loyalty from Irvin because Urban Meyer's career is different because of what a great collegiate career Tim Tebow had. So this is him paying it back.

But I don't think many of us who were looking at this through clear eyes thought this had any chance of working. And I don't think this was a net positive for the Jags. I think the point you made earlier, which was it's not like they waited for, you know, first big round of cuts. It was like, no, you got to go now. Like, the first guy that I know of that was cut of any substance across the league is Tebow. And that's, by the way, that's not insulting to him. It's the same reason we talked about it when they signed it. Jamal Adams gets the contract. Russell Wilson's left tackle doesn't. I think it's a thing, do you? Yeah. I agree with you. I thought Joy had a quote that maybe she came up with it, maybe she didn't, but I'd never heard it before. So I will now forever ascribe it to her, which is nothing is everything, but everything is something. I think that's really. really smart. I like it. And this is definitely something. And I also, I think we now have to

take a step back and say, all right, there were three quarterbacks who this offseason at various times and superstar quarterbacks were like, wow, NBA player empowerment, moving to the NFL for the quarterbacks because they were going to force their way out of town or force their franchise's hands. The first was Deshawn. Now Deshaun's situation kind of belongs in its box because of the really terrible off-the-field allegations. So set that aside. But then there was Russell and Aaron. And now we're weeks away from the beginning of the season. And it's like, what did either of these guys get? Russell got what? A meeting with Pete Carroll where he said, okay, I'll give you more control, but you got to actually show me that's going to happen.

Aaron got what? They brought back Randall Cobb for three months Colin Cowherd pay and they're going to shave a year off his deal, maybe. Like, I think we thought a few months ago, or at least I thought, oh, NFL quarterbacks are realizing how powerful they are. Either they're not as powerful as I thought they were, these guys just didn't want to stomach it the way NBA guys will because it's hard to get more powerful than Russell and Aaron.

and Russell can't even get his own let, forget a new let, like an upgraded offensive line, can't get his own guy re-signed, that ain't great, and I'm sure it doesn't sit incredibly well with him. So I was noting this that a couple years, Odell Beckham got a shoe deal, and I said this is the first shoe deal of note I ever remember an NFL player getting. And now Patrick Mahomes, by the way, I begged yesterday to get a pair of those. Very nice from Adidas. he's got a shoe deal. Oh, you should ask me.

Oh, you already got yours? Oh, great. Wonderful. So what does it say? Macro, what is it say? Well, a couple things. One is it says that if he walks away today, in addition to having the biggest shoe deal in NFL history, is also already a Hall of Famer.

That was, my God, that was a bad take by you a month ago, and I've been waiting to tell you how bad it was. Now I finally got to. But the other thing is, is, I think, listen, Colin, your kids are all older than my younger kids. But I'm the youngest kids these days, and I'll tie it together in a moment, if you ask them, like, you know, seven, eight year old, what do you want to be? And if they're of the mindset of, I want to be an actress or movie star, that's not

what they say. Like, we would have said actress, movie star. They say YouTuber. And why do I say that? But the point I'm bringing up is fame can now come from anywhere. It can come from TikTok, obviously can come from the movies, it can come from YouTube, and it can come from any of our sports. If you break through, you are going to be able to reach the level of celebrity that previously really only NBA guys got to

because NBA guys are the most visible. They're not wearing a helmet. They're not wearing any pads. They have the biggest personality. I think that you are going to see other guys that have Mahomes' level of charisma, even without his level of talent, that are going to be able to start to cash in in ways other athletes haven't. I'll give you another name. I think Fernando Tatis Jr.

Could be the next, like could set a record-breaking shoe deal in Major League Baseball when it feels like we haven't had one since Griffey. I think you are going to start seeing different guys capitalize on. I am the show and be able to use that to get these types of endorsements, which previously had been reserved for almost like select few guys. So NBA topic, by the way, something is everything, everything is nothing. Joy borrowed from me so you can give me credit for the first time in your life. That's true. It is calling saying.

You did say it was smart. It was like that. So the NBA, they have a plan and they're meticulous. and they put exact people they want on their Christmas Day games. It's the biggest day of the year for the NBA before you get to the conference finals. It gets huge ratings. Everybody's home. Trey Young made it.

Jason Tateham made it. Luca made it. Zion did not. You cannot tell me that in Zion's camp, they're not upset. Like it's saying something and I don't think it's a good something. To me, Zion's camp, which has already been did. displeased with some things. They're sitting there this morning going, oh, okay.

So Trey Young's in. Jason Tatum's in? Zion's not, you tell me. You love this league. It's something, right? No, I think you're absolutely right. And I think it's demonstrated by the fact the biggest star the league's ever seen, LeBron, this will be a 16th straight Christmas Day game.

So that league recognized very early, we have to feature him each and every opportunity, each and every year we get. I do think, though, that, you know, this is not an indictment on Zion as much as it is on the Pelicans. It's the NBA saying, we don't know that we trust the Pelicans to be competitive. But my takeaway was a little different when you show that full schedule. Because there's another alleged superstar who is not included here. And by the way, his team's really good.

and that's the guy that you, me, and joy got just pilloried by the NBA nerds for not having as our MVP. Where's Nikola Yokic? Oh, he's the league MVP. When's the last time? Crack herd research staff, I'm fresh off vacation, a little sunburn.

I didn't look this up, someone can. When's the last time a defending MVP was not included on Christmas Day? It's got to be, what, decades? The nuggets are good. league is telling you, yeah, we know he won the MVP, and we know they could be the second best team in the West next year, nobody cares about them. Think about that. They put the jazz. Now, I know you like the jazz, Colin, because you own a whole county in Utah, but most people

don't care about the jazz. They put the jazz on there instead of the nuggets in Nikola Yokic. So yes, Zion should be upset about the direction of the Pelicans. If I'm Nikola, you know, I'm riding in that chariot in his homeland, maybe getting news. I'm like, you've got to be kidding me. I just won League MVP. There's 10 teams on Christmas. My team's not one of them. So that was my takeaway. League MVP, not on Christmas. How about that? So you're not going to tell it. Did you go to Croatia? Let me guess. Croatia. No, I didn't. I made a quick stop in Slovenia. It's just check on my large adult, Slovenian son, Luca Donchage. See how he's dealing with the, you know, Olympic loss.

Personal story. So every morning I come in, they put an earpiece in my ear right here, you know. And they get me wired up before I come on the show. So I plug the earpiece in so I can hear my director. If it's like, hey, something's going wrong. They don't talk to me during the show much. Maybe once a show. But they wire you up. And right as I was getting it wired up today, the person wiring me up says, hey, we got a new coffee machine here. I like coffee. I'm like, really? So we walked over and looked at it. And our bosses, they built this little area with ice cream and coffee.

I didn't know about it. They were keeping it from here or something. And the owner, the Murdox, Lockland, I think they bought a coffee company or something because it's all over the place now. It's very good coffee. It's from Australia. It's a blue stone or something. And it literally had to bounce in my stuff.

since then that I can come to work every day and stop fiddling around at home and my coffee in the morning. I just come and go in there and get a world-class cup of coffee every morning. Where's the ice cream? It's right in the refrigerator next to it. Where? You open it up. There's just ice cream's falling out. In this little space around the corner here? Yeah. It's right to your left. Literally changed everything. I think I'll stay here. I was on the fence. It's unbelievable. In life, just pull a chair, let somebody, you know, flowers for your wife. It's just the little stuff. I sit here this morning thinking It's just a free cup of coffee

But the fact that I don't have to fiddle with it And it's dark I try to keep the lights out in the morning Because I don't want to wake everybody up In a coffee machine Do you drink coffee during the morning meeting? I drink coffee all day Oh okay

I know it costs a nickel, but it's under. Here's the point. Is little stuff matters? No, it does. It does. It's just a little bit of effort. Just a little bit of attention. I was on the fence.

What am I doing with my life? You also really enjoy a free cup of coffee. You put free in front of anything. Yeah, but coffee particularly, you have this. Maybe it's because you're from Seattle. you have this thorn in your side about having to pay for coffee. You go to these places now. It's like six bucks for ice coffee.

The ice cubes are free. That's just frozen water. Well, you're charging me six bucks for? Beans? It really doesn't sit well with me. You feel like it's your birthright. Yes. Sorry to bore all of you, but I am from Seattle.

We get either free or low-cost coffee or the country adjusts. So Hard Knocks was on last night. I thought it was totally boring because the Cowboys now have a bunch of adults. And when you have adults, you're boring. And it's great news for the Cowboys. And I was thinking as I was watching Mike McCarthy, you know, he kind of wears me. He had another one of those speeches last night. I don't love McCarthy.

Here we go. We're a popular team. We're not in this for being popular. We talked about a winning culture. And the real winning comes with the play style. This wasn't our best week of practice. So let's learn from it. I want you to get it in tonight.

Let's turn this up. I'm talking about everybody. So you can bring it to these guys. A lot of swearing. It doesn't really work for me. And I thought to myself, am I too hard on Mike McCarthy? So I believe the coaches,

you can put them in a bunch of groups. And so let's just do that. So there's the geniuses, that they literally feel like when you go into a game, Belichick, Andy, Reid, Sean Payton, and you're facing them, you as a fan think, we could get outworked here.

Like they're going to trick us or fool us or they got some gadget. Belichick Reed, Sean Paine. Those are geniuses. And those are guys, they're very close to geniuses because they just always win. And they win a lot. It's like Mike Tomlin, Pete Carroll, John Harbaugh. They're an inch. Like they're just an inch from genius.

Maybe not a genius. But how come they all, they never have losing seasons. They're always winning. And then there's the young. potential geniuses. They're not there yet, but boy, they're like Elon Musk right before he created SpaceX. Everybody's talking about. McVeigh, Sean McDermott, Brian Flores, Kyle Shannon, Matt LaFleurrere, Mike Vrable, Stefanski. You're like, they're really good. Maybe one more year of it, but then there's the, maybe not geniuses, but old dudes, they're really good. You always know

your team will be prepared. Ron Rivera, Bruce Ariens, Mike Zimmer, Frank Wright. Teams always prepared. And then there's the other category, and this is not good for McCarthy. Used to be geniuses. Mike McCarthy and Gruden, they don't win enough anymore. Gruden hasn't had a playoff win in what, like 18 years. I know he was gone for a while, but his last three years, he's like 10 games under 500. Mike McCarthy hadn't had to have a playoff win five, six years. Last three years, he's like 10 games under 500. That's it. McCarthy and Gruden, why are you so hard in them? They're not winning. enough. Tomlin's always winning. Harbaugh's always winning. Pete's winning.
