Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. On the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:06 From 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84 was big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
Starting point is 00:01:22 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th.
Starting point is 00:01:41 You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifers Show. This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the IHeard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok podcast network on TikTok.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Thanks for listening to The Best of Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday. From 12 to 3 Eastern, 9 to noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and FS1, find your local station for the Heard at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching Heard. This is the Best of the Hurd. with Colin Cowher on Fox Sports Radio. Oh, here we go on a Tuesday, a different Tuesday in America than usual.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Live in Los Angeles, this is The Herd, wherever you may be and however you may be listening. Fox Sports Radio, Iheart Radio, right here on FS1, one hour from now, the herd hierarchy. The strangest hurt hierarchy of the year. I am not sure who the 10 best teams in the NFL are. I'm going to give you my 10, and in one hour, you'll get those. Joy Taylor is joining me today on Election Day Tuesday. We're going to talk to football today. I hope that's enough.
Starting point is 00:03:13 We'd have everybody in. That's what we do here. That's what we do. We talk sports. We're going to talk about football today. There's a lot of really fascinating topics today. Yeah, I have a feeling like I might be upset with you after your hierarchy. I'm going to wait and see.
Starting point is 00:03:27 All right. So let's start with this. On a day of anxiety in America, there's a lot of anxiety in America. 77% of a people are worried in America about violence tonight. Cross your fingers. It doesn't happen. But I want to be Mr. optimistic for one city today and happens to be a really important city and the biggest city in this country, New York. You should actually feel great this morning. I know, I know, I know, I know, you lost a football game to a better team. Now let's start with this. That was not pass interference. You're not going to get the flag on that. Daniel Jones, quarterback for the Giants, was late on that pass.
Starting point is 00:04:03 He was late. You got to make a better quicker throw. And you're not going to get that. There's a reason they do not throw a penalty flag on Hail Mary's at the end of games. There's a reason on the last shot of the NBA finals. Refs try to step out of the way. That's not egregious enough. It's too bang.
Starting point is 00:04:19 It's too close. Your quarterback was a tad late. That's the bad news. Now the good news. that was the best loss for the New York Giants in years. You're getting better every week. It looks like you have a coach who the players like and respond to. And Daniel Jones makes too many mistakes,
Starting point is 00:04:37 but I'm about 80% sure you got a quarterback good enough to eventually win this division. This is a great loss. What you really are, you're the Miami Dolphins of last year. They started the year 0-and-7. Joy and I kept saying they're a really good O'N7. They got crushed by Baltimore week one. Every week it got better. You watch the Dolphins this year?
Starting point is 00:04:58 Pretty good. They got the right coach. Cross your fingers on the quarterback. The Giants are well coached. The Giants play hard every week. The last four weeks, they have lost by 8, 3, 1, and 2. Now, Daniel Jones makes too many mistakes. He makes about three mistakes a game.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Can you get that down to 2? Two, you can win the NFC East, maybe even this year. One, you have a chance to be a really good playoff. and you're doing all this without say Juan Barclay. But there's two things in the NFL you have to have. You don't have to be great at safety. You don't have to be great at wide receiver. Patriots want a lot of Super Bowls not being great at wide receiver.
Starting point is 00:05:34 You don't have to have a dominating offensive line. You've got to have a coach and you've got to have a quarterback in this league. And I said this last year with Brian Flores of the Dolphins, and I'll say it with Joe Judge. I think he got a coach. I think he works. I think the team responds to him. I think they play hard. when I watch the New York Giants play, mistakes beat them.
Starting point is 00:05:56 But it's not incompetence. It's not lack of direction. It's not that the players are all going and different. I get the same effort from that team every week. I think they could have won three of their last four games. They don't have Sequin Barclay. He's their playmaker. They've got to go get another playmaker or two on the outside.
Starting point is 00:06:13 They've got to get Sequan Barclay back. I think they could have one more great corner. But I would feel great this morning. Tampa Bay beat you. Tampa Bay should beat you. They got a better quarterback. They have a better roster. They're adding a B.
Starting point is 00:06:25 And it was a classic look-ahead game for Tampa Bay where they got the Saints next week. I said it yesterday on the shows. I liked the New York Giants last night to cover. I thought it was your classic home dog. Biggest game of the year for the New York Giants felt huge. And for Tampa, they're looking ahead to the Saints. So I said yesterday, I thought this was a good bet on the New York Giants. So Buccaneer fans, you're going to be way better next week.
Starting point is 00:06:48 You're going to roll the Saints. You'll feel great. But I wake up in New York this. morning, if I'm a Giants fan, I'm like, that's as good a loss as we have had in years. You got the coach, and I'm 80% sure you got the quarterback. That's a great place to be in the NFL, because you don't have to be perfect. With the salary cap, there are no 1975 Pittsburgh Steelers. That doesn't exist in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Your receivers, you need about one more. Keep building that all line. Coach, quarterback, good enough. I'd feel great this morning. And I believe when they're focused, Tampa Bay is the first or second best team in the NFL. So you lost late to what I believe is a Super Bowl team and the best team in the NFC. Good morning in New York despite the loss. Optimism on an anxiety-ridden day.
Starting point is 00:07:31 All right. Now let's shift gears. Just because your career can end in one city doesn't mean your career is over. I've worked in the media for a long time just because you leave one place and infuriate a boss or it doesn't quite work. Doesn't mean your career's over. People reinvent themselves and pivot all the time. Jimmy Garoppolo is hurt again. He's going to miss multiple weeks, and I'm just going to say it now.
Starting point is 00:07:55 It's over for Jimmy Garapolo in San Francisco. There are three things as a quarterback that will end your career for one team. You're inconsistent. Garapolo is. The coach has lost faith in you. The coach has, and you can't stay healthy. He's done in San Francisco. Everybody's done before they know they're done.
Starting point is 00:08:19 mean he's done in the NFL, I think New England is going to make a run at him. But Kyle Shanahan is in a division with Russell Wilson, who is never injured, with Kyler Murray, who you can never get a big hit on, and Jared Goff, say what you want, he's never hurt, and Garoppolo cannot stay healthy. He got hurt in New England. He got hurt his first year in San Francisco as a full-time starter, and he's hurt now. It's over. Kyle Shanahan would be idiotic to run this back. It doesn't his career's over. By the way, you know who I think they're going to go after? Two people. Matt Ryan, probably too expensive. Or Sam Darnold. I think Sam Darnold, for the Colts, for Washington, and specifically San Francisco, I know they liked Donald. I know they liked him in the draft. I know
Starting point is 00:09:08 they like him. I know the Colts like him. I think Washington likes him. It doesn't mean Jimmy Garapolo's career is over. But when you're in a city and you're inconsistent and the coach loses faith, You can't argue either of those. And now you're hurt all the time. And again, you have to consider the environment with this stuff. Russell Wilson never gets hit. Kyler Murray rarely gets hit. Goff gets hit all week.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Never gets hurt. You can't, nothing against Nick Mullins, but I can't be going to a backup quarterback every third game. So this is done. And the other thing is, I think Kyle Shanahan lost faith in Garoppolo at the end of last year. And it's one of these like, okay, got us to the Super Bowl. What do we do?
Starting point is 00:09:54 But in a weird way, you got a break. Now, when you move off him, it's not a big cap hit. It's not a huge cap hit. And let's be honest, you could tell Kyle lost faith in him. This gives you the out. Nobody's going to argue now when you're like, oh, just injuries. Shanahan's going to have the media in the Bay Area on his side.
Starting point is 00:10:17 You're like, yes. Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray. Jared Goff. That's the division. You've got to be healthy. My guy can't stay healthy. And we have a trend. You know, like I've said before, you burn me once, shame on you.
Starting point is 00:10:32 You burn me twice. Shame on me. I mean, Kyle Shanahan's the best young football coach, in my opinion, in America. What's the old Einstein thing? You're crazy if you keep going back to the same thing and doing it over and over and over and over. We have three injuries now with Garoppolo. You have three. Sam Bradford.
Starting point is 00:10:50 I feel bad. I think New England could give him a run. New England has a history of very good offensive line play. You know, Belichick is going to play good defense and protect his quarterbacks. I mean, that's kind of what they do. And they know Garoppolo and they like Garoppolo, and maybe they'll be too good to get a top three quarterback in the draft. And we know the history of Garapolo in New England. But when I looked at this injury, I'm like, okay, it's over.
Starting point is 00:11:12 I've said this before in broadcasting and in quarterbacks. Like, it's over before anybody admits it's over. We said this with Mitch Trubesky. Trivinsky had a winning record. And I said, they've made their mind up. They're not telling us. They're saying all the right things in the press, but they made their mind up. And the minute Trisky struggled, boom, Nick Folls in.
Starting point is 00:11:31 All right. They could certainly bring, they lose it now in Chicago some games. They could bring Trubisky back, but I think that made their mind up. So that's the story of the day. Be optimistic in New York and the Sam Darnold sweepstakes. At least the phone calls are beginning in earnest because the jets are going to move off it. the Jets are a bad franchise.
Starting point is 00:11:50 The answer for bad franchises, Cleveland's done this historically, is a quick fix. Yeah, we'll just get the quarterback, right? We'll win a bunch of games. That's how the New York Jets think. That's how the Jets. Oh, just get a quarterback. I'll solve all our problems.
Starting point is 00:12:04 Your offensive line's bad. You have no receivers you can trust. Your defense doesn't have an edge rusher. C.J. Mosley can never play, but you pay him a tongue. Good luck. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. in an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged.
Starting point is 00:12:21 It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the I-Hard Radio app,
Starting point is 00:12:43 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what you're saying. Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football, or my career in sports media. Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.
Starting point is 00:13:04 And now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show. This is a place for raw, unfiltered conversations with some of your favorite athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. One week I'll take you behind the scenes of the biggest moments in sports and entertainment and the next we'll talk about life, mental health, purpose, and even music. The Clifford Show isn't just a podcast, it's a space for honest conversations, stories that don't always get told, and for people who are chasing something bigger. So if you've ever supported me or you're just chasing down a dream, this is right where you need to be.
Starting point is 00:13:39 Listen to the Clifford Show on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford. and at TikTok Podcast Network on TikTok. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs? Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:14:03 I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know.
Starting point is 00:14:23 I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:39 For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple. podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month,
Starting point is 00:14:57 I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it.
Starting point is 00:15:16 We don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro.
Starting point is 00:15:31 Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, as we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast, learn the hard way.
Starting point is 00:15:45 Open your free, iHeartRadio app search learn the hard way and listen now i have been through the years many believe a little tough on erin rogers not really it's called occasional constructive criticism but hey who am i other than america's media icon anywho erin rogers trading deadline today uh was asked a very good question are you guys going to go and get some help at wide receiver and erin rogers little snarky maybe but he said this it's not a bad question but it's not one that i can answer we've had many conversations about this type of thing over the years. And I, you know, truly understand my role.
Starting point is 00:16:24 I'm not going to stop for anybody. That's not my stop for a player. You end up going to Buffalo. That's kind of funny, actually. I'm going to defend him. Okay. So one of the things Aaron has said privately to people I know, he doesn't say it publicly is it'd be nice to have Tom Brady's defense once in a while.
Starting point is 00:16:44 He's not wrong. he's not wrong on that he's told people you know it'd be nice to be a little more active in the free agent market he's not wrong i'm not going to ever criticize aaron rogers for being accurate um but i'll give you an example here's what tom brady got when he went to tampa so tom goes to tampa they got him gronk hall of fame tied end who still can play leonard fernet who i said at the time why is everybody out on Leonard Fernette. Leonard Furnett's a good player. And Antonio Brown, maybe you've heard of all three of them. They're Hall of Fame or Close talents. Then they went and got Tristan Worf's, who is a hit at right tackle, Antonio Winfield, who may be defensive rookie of the year, and Kishon Vaughner
Starting point is 00:17:28 running back, who can play, but on this roster, it's so stacked, he's a developmental player. Here's what Aaron Rogers got this offseason. Devin Funches, oh, he opted out, and two guys that don't make a difference. Jordan Love isn't playing. A.J. Dillon appears not to be able to play and a tight end with one catch, a blocking tight end. They whiffed on the draft. Made a couple calls looked around on Green Bay's draft today. It's a whiff.
Starting point is 00:17:57 No dynamic players. Not one. Not one dynamic free agent. We opted out, and he was marginally dynamic. Aaron's 37. 37 in a month. He needs playmakers now. Not developmental players. He needs guys. I'm not even going to mention the fact they didn't resign Blake Martinez, a tackling machine,
Starting point is 00:18:21 or Brian Beluga, who was an expensive right tackle, Chargers picked him up. There was another linebacker the Giants have, Kyler Fackerel, who's pretty good at getting to the quarterback, athletic. I won't even mention those. Oh, I just did. But Russell Wilson's getting help. And Lamar Jackson gets help. And guys are getting help. You whiff, apparently, you got a bunch of guys who either can't play, aren't playing, or will never play.
Starting point is 00:18:47 the draft and he didn't do anything in free agency. And some of that's not your fault. It's institutional. But you got to give Aaron Rogers a pass on this. If I'm Aaron Rogers, I am sitting out there and I can be petty too. I'm like, it'd be nice to get an occasional free agent like Tommy. It'd be nice to get an, I mean, can you imagine me and Aaron Rogers looking at Brady? So I get Belichick's defense for 20 years. Then I go to Tampa and I may get the best defense in the league now. And again, NFL quarterbacks are trapped. You can franchise him. Aaron couldn't get out of Green Bay today if he wanted to. And I'm not saying he wants to.
Starting point is 00:19:19 But when it's all said and done on Aaron, we've got to be fair about that. And I've said this when you write the book on LeBron. Like the second chapter house has to be, that dude never got hurt. I mean, that guy played 20 years. The book on Tom Brady, some of it has
Starting point is 00:19:35 to be, man, he got good old lines and good defenses. And the book on Aaron is, could you get him some playmakers? I mean, come on, Green Bay. That draft is a bunch of maybe at best situational dudes. You got him nothing. A quarterback that will never play if Aaron remains healthy.
Starting point is 00:19:53 A running back who doesn't appear to be close to as good as the two you have. A blocking tight end and a tackle from Michigan who I think potentially could be good. And the Packers do develop offensive linemen very well, but he's not helping him now. And Aaron's a month away from 37 years old with two collarbone breaks. See, I'm fair. You may not. Sunday, by the way, Aaron, Roger. Three hundred yards, three TDs, a hundred-level passer rating.
Starting point is 00:20:18 And they got whacked. Ain't on Aaron. It's not on Aaron. Aaron's doing his part. He was great Sunday. Not on Aaron. One more herd? The herd streams 24 hours a day, seven days a week,
Starting point is 00:20:29 within the IHeart radio app. Search herd to listen live or on demand whenever you'd like. All right, time to bring in my buddy. Brought to you by Mercedes-Benz, the best or nothing. Ryan Rusilla, host of the Ryan-Risillo podcast. It's very popular. Everybody talks about it. All right, buddy.
Starting point is 00:20:43 Let's start with this. Let's start with this. I said, it's a day of anxiety in America. You know in this league, like, you're from Boston, so your team always wins. But the way it usually works in the NFL, you have these rebuild years. But you know if you get the coach right and you think you got the quarterback right, you can at least see the horizon. You're like, okay, we're getting close.
Starting point is 00:21:04 I watched the Giants last night and I'm like, that's the best loss they've had in three years. I think they got the right coach. Like I thought that's as good a loss as a bad football team can have, right? Yeah, going into it, and when you look at Tampa, I feel like what's been lost in this Brady story, which is a valid. I mean, it's an unbelievable story. He's been lighting it up up until last night. But that Tampa Bay defense was incredible. I mean, they're the best defense in the NFL coming in. They have all the speed all over the place.
Starting point is 00:21:29 It was actually a really good defense last year that was put in impossible situations with Jamis. So to have the Giants have it come down to the last possession, I was really impressed. I mean, it wasn't as amazing as the first half execution as New England battling COVID in the Chiefs a few weeks ago. where I was like, I can't believe the paths are even in this game. But you're right, like a coach. And I'm not sure if Judge is long-term to be the guy, but at least in that primetime spotlight, hey, can you actually compete with maybe the best team in your conference?
Starting point is 00:21:58 I don't think anybody expected this thing to be close. So I was really impressed. Yeah. By the way, you were the first to really touch on this that I know is that why most people in Boston or from Boston were worshipping at the altar of Belichick about six years ago. you and I had a conversation, probably over a Heineken, in which you said, they're not that great in the draft. In fact, they're terrible drafting skill people.
Starting point is 00:22:23 And my takeaway is, I would sell everything I have today. You got some equity from the fans. They got to be sellers today. They got to get, I don't care who the quarterback is. They're the slowest football team in the league offensively. Like if I said to you tomorrow, do you think people in Boston acknowledge, Belichick can't drafts, he can't draft offensive skill people. He just can't.
Starting point is 00:22:45 They're acknowledging it now. It took them eight years. But they finally warmed up to the idea that Bill is not great at drafting. He just isn't. I don't know who else. Like, you know what? I made this joke the other day. I go, if somebody else were a GM and had his draft record the last few years,
Starting point is 00:23:05 his next job would be coming up on get up. You know what I mean? He would be like the next in studio analyst because he wouldn't have a job. Now, let me also say this. Any conversation about Belichick that starts with because of the season, they're like, well, you know, I don't think he's really all that. And, you know, this guy might be a little overrated. Like, it's just a conversation stopper, all right?
Starting point is 00:23:24 He's an incredible coach. I understand the Brady part of it, but he's been incredible. But he, I don't know if it's the slow bleed of all of the personnel people that left. I remember when they lost Pioli. I mean, that was years and years ago. We're talking well over a decade. And I thought, oh, man, that's a blow to this front office. And somebody who really knew was like, yeah, not really.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Like Bill has a plan. He tells everybody to follow the plan and then go ahead and execute. But, I mean, he's continually lost these people over and over again. He's been awful for stretches at corner, which is weird, because that's like kind of his origin as a coach. You know, he's great against you an offensive line here or there. But if you look back at the Pro Bowls, I'll ask you this. You go through, you can look at this stuff. It's all available on Google.
Starting point is 00:24:02 If you go through his last drafts going all the way back to like 2012, where are the studs? Where are the studs? There aren't any. Chandler Jones, Dante High Tower. Those are the last studs. I'll give you Thunei and guard. I mean, that's a lot of whips. And when you have a Hall of Fame quarterback, he can make that stuff disappear a little bit.
Starting point is 00:24:19 And it's happened at other places. It's happening Russell Wilson, Seattle. It happened with Peyton Manning in Denver until Peyton then had to be carried by that defense. But that's why these special quarterbacks are so special because they make up for all your mistakes. And Belichick's made a lot of mistakes. Now, hold on. Let me write that down. You said it was called Google.
Starting point is 00:24:35 Oh, Ryan, get that in. It's all available. It's all available. Okay, so you look at your environment. I'm a coach in the NFC West. Russell Wilson never gets hurt, and he's great. Jared Goff may not be great, but he's always available with McVeigh. And he takes a beat.
Starting point is 00:24:52 He never got hurt and he never hurt. Kiner Murray, hard to get a shot at, and explosive. I have Jimmy Garoppolo. He's inconsistent, and he's always hurt. Hurt in New England? Heard again. I honestly believe, Ryan, when I saw that story yesterday, I'm like, people make decisions before they make him public.
Starting point is 00:25:09 He's done. Like, the long-range stuff for Garoppel. this morning, I feel like Kyle is like, I'm in a division with Goff, Kyler, and Russell. I got to go get somebody. Like, I honestly think this morning, he and Lynch are like, okay, let's keep this between us. We're moving on. That doesn't seem like a hot take, right? No, I don't think it is.
Starting point is 00:25:28 Now, I would put kind of Goff and Garoppolo in the same category, not because of the health part of it, but more because of who you have running these offenses. I believe McVeigh and Kyle Shanhan think they can pretty much put anybody back there, and they're going to figure out how to way to run their offense. And that's why they're so special. And that's why they both became hip coaches of such a young age. But the Garapolo fascination was body type, that hip thrusting that I kept reading about all the time. They're like, man, nobody really throws it that way.
Starting point is 00:25:53 But they frontloaded that contract. They wanted credit for paying him like $40 million plus in cash in the first year. And I go, this guy started like seven games. And in those games where they went undefeated with San Francisco, he actually wasn't that great. So for me, this is just a longer continuation of somebody who physically looks the part. but doesn't always make great decisions. The numbers aren't that great. The defensive roster last year, that was the best defense in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:26:17 He threw eight passes in the NFC title game. And you can tell by the play calling, Colin, when I look at quarterbacks, I'll go, okay, third and eight, do they trust this guy? And it's clear he, among another handful of quarterbacks in the league, like, I don't even know if the play callers even trust him as much as they should. So they've front-loaded that deal so much. If they want to move on from him, they can. But he has to be healthier first to have any kind of market if he's going to another. team. Okay, so, Tua. I don't have the size. People say size doesn't matter for quarterbacks. Yes, it does. It does matter. I'm sorry, it does. Most of the great quarterbacks are big. If they're not, they have a wiggle. They can move. Fran Tarkinton, Vic. You know, Russell Wilson, they can move.
Starting point is 00:26:56 Fran had small wrists, though. Oh, he did. Oh, thanks for that. Appreciate that. He was a scout. Ryan was scouting back then for the Vikings back in the 40s. But there. We got on Fran. But there is one exception to all this. Brees. So you're basically telling me for Tua to work, he's got to be one guy in league history. And I'm like, that's trying to land a 747 on a quarter. In the history of the league, the only guy without size, a big arm who doesn't wiggle a lot is Breeze. And I watch Tua and I'm like, where's the it? Like, right? Like, what's the? No, no. Do we disagree on this one? Wait, you're off toa? I'm off. I'm off. When did this happen? Last week. I was, I was Oh, it was the last week?
Starting point is 00:27:39 So you waited before he played to write on? Then you're like, okay. Look, he wasn't great. They didn't need him. The Rams made monumental turnovers in that game. And that's kind of why that game was decided that way. But I am not off of Tua. I understand what you're saying, smaller guys.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Like, it is kind of funny. Like, hey, Russell's a little smaller, Breeze is a little smaller. Kyler's a little small. So what do we now want? Small quarterbacks? I mean, that seems kind of ridiculous. I don't think anybody's going to say, hey, let's get smaller guys in here. Is Kellan Moore still got some bullets in there?
Starting point is 00:28:05 So I love to disenfellers. decision making. I love the way he read the field. I love the way he manipulated safeties. I love his athleticism. All of those things I saw for real in person at Alabama. And I'm not going to write him off just because he's left-handed and small here at this point. So I'm not, I resist your position on that one. He's a resistor. All right, Rosillo. It's great seeing you, buddy. Podcast at the ringer of the Ryan Rosillo podcast. Thanks for coming on the show. All right. Thanks, thanks, Colin. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern 9 a.m. Pacific on Fox Sports
Starting point is 00:28:37 Radio, FS1, and the I-Hard Radio app. It doesn't matter how many times I'm right on this next topic. I could go 100 for 100, and you'll still argue with me. Currently, I'm 4 for 4. I warned you four times on this. I've been right every time. It's like arguing with a certain president. It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:29:00 I give up, so I'm not going to argue. But I'm going to be right again. I'm going to be five for five. Quarterback is not a position to be cool. Now, it's cool when you win. Peyton Manning's funny. Brett Farve was cool without trying. Patrick Mahomes is cool without trying.
Starting point is 00:29:19 But if you're trying to be cool, or you're a little too silly, or you're a showboater, not going to work. Not my kind of guy. Russell Wilson's not cool. Tom Brady, not cool. Andrew Luck wasn't cool. Carson Wednesday didn't cool. Again, don't tell me Patrick Mahomes is cool.
Starting point is 00:29:35 He's cool because he's winning. He's not trying to be cool. And there's a big difference. you could ask Joy. There's guys that are cool and guys that try to act cool. If you're cool, Steve McQueen was cool, didn't try. Eastwood, 25, 30 years ago was cool, didn't try. Denzel's cool. He ain't trying. Michael Jordan, the actors, cool. They're not trying. Mohams also didn't try to be cool before he got onto the field and was winning.
Starting point is 00:29:59 That wasn't the book on him. We have a new cool guy. I was right on Mansell. I was right on Baker. I was right on Cam. I was right on James Winston. silly, showboat, too cool. I was right. It's four for four. Bring your argument on. Here's number five. I'm not into Drew Locke. All the cool dancing. Win more games, Cub Scout. Win more games. If I have to see another one of these, I've seen about four times he's done that. Win games. Kate, you're at a franchise with John Elway. John Elway's shadow is better than you.
Starting point is 00:30:38 There's one quarterback in the NFL that tries to act cool and it works. Aaron Rogers. And when you're that gifted, I guess you get to be. When you're as good as Aaron Rogers, you can be a little bit of a showboat and you can do the Superman stuff or whatever you want to do in the belt and all that stuff. It's Aaron Rogers. That's not Aaron Rogers. Told you before, I'm right on this. That's, people always don't get the backwards hat thing.
Starting point is 00:31:03 They think it's about the hat. It's metaphorical. You look like a goofball. You look like a goofball. You've got to be mature enough to be a franchise quarterback for a $5 billion dollar franchise turn it around. It's not about the hat. It's about you don't get that adults look at you, billionaires who own the team,
Starting point is 00:31:21 executives who run the team and go, come on, bro. I'm not saying you can't ever wear a hat backwards. In fact, I'm four hat backwards all the time except my quarterback on those big press conferences. Hate the dancing. Trying to be cool. Not into it with James. I said he's too silly. Not into it with Johnny Mansell.
Starting point is 00:31:40 you all defended Johnny Mansell. All of you. I was on an island. I was the only sportscaster in America that said you cannot draft him. I was the only sportscaster in America. ESPN, it was fan boys with Baker Mayfield. He's trying too hard. Guys that are cool don't have to try to be cool.
Starting point is 00:31:55 We all went to a frat. We all went to college. We all went to a high school with a guy that was just cool. He didn't talk a lot, didn't advertise it. Patrick Mahomes is cool. Never trying to be cool. He's just cool. I ran into Patrick Mahomes like twice in person.
Starting point is 00:32:07 He's just a cool dude. He's kind of goofy. to be honest with. He's kind of silly, fun. He's young. He's never trying to be cool. Don't like it. Out on Drew Locke. Go ahead, argue. You're old for four. And you were in on Drewlock very much before the season.
Starting point is 00:32:23 Now I'm starting to see this stuff. I'm like, out, done, not interested. Quarterback's not a cool position. I want you to be presidential or quarterback yield. I want you to be an adult. I want you to be fairly neutral. I want you to be right in the middle. Oh, bad interception. Okay. You're throwing. You can't throw another one because of that one. We scored a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Pump your fist. Boom. Go back to the bench. You can't be highly emoted. My receivers can. My backs can. My middle linebackers can. My tight end can.
Starting point is 00:32:51 My corner can. My safety can. I want you pumping and yeah and playing with emotion and a little loose and this far from out of control. Quarterback, I want you totally in control. I don't want you this close to marginally out of control. I want you to be neutral all the time. Don't get too high.
Starting point is 00:33:04 Don't get too low. Don't want all this dance and stuff. Go ahead. argue with me. If you were a. stock, I'd be selling, I'd be buying something else. You're wrong every time on this. Every time you're wrong on this. But that's okay.
Starting point is 00:33:15 I'm not going to be judgmental. Just I'm out. Well, it's a leadership position. You don't want a leader that rides super highs and super low. It's trying to be cool. And it wants fans and like you just lead. When behind closed doors, you can be as emotional as you want to. I don't care what you do at your house. But television
Starting point is 00:33:35 so I'm out. So listen, I took a side on this. I'm out under I don't, I think it's fun, but I also kind of operate under the idea that everybody is not going to be Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson and Tom Brady. That's the goal. You know, is that the goal? It is the goal, but everybody doesn't have the same goals. Some people just want to play football and enjoy themselves. Oh, great.
Starting point is 00:33:57 I'm a Bronco fan. Our guy just wants to play and have fun and make cookies. I'm not a Bronco fan. I don't think this is too at all. I think two is. Good, good. Because the guy in Kansas City doesn't want to just play and have fun. He wants to win Super Bowls.
Starting point is 00:34:07 No, but but to your point, Mahomes has a natural. coolness to him. He doesn't have to try to be cool either. And in a lot of ways, I don't think Aaron Rogers says either. I think it's just his personality. But when you win a Super Bowl and you're Aaron Rogers, you get a pass. But that's like anything else in life. If you are successful, you get things that other people don't. That's how it works.
Starting point is 00:34:28 How about, yeah, how about new rule? Win a Super Bowl for you to that nonsense. I don't think that's a bad rule. I mean, seriously. I think it's a bad rule. I'm sure Broncos fans would love a Super Bowl right now. I didn't do any of this dancing stuff until I got to syndicate it. The local level, head down, no dancing. Dance for a couple minutes when I got syndicated.
Starting point is 00:34:47 It's the way it goes. What's up, everybody? John Middlok, three-and-out podcast. Used to scout in the NFL. Now I talk football on the podcast. Go subscribe. Coming up this week, we dive into Tom Brady. What is going on with Daniel Jones?
Starting point is 00:35:01 We look around the league, Tua, his chances of lasting as the Miami Dolphins quarterback. Of course, the trade deadline coming up. and out podcast. Go subscribe right now. Heard hierarchy. Time is now. Let's go. The top 10 NFL teams, according to college. Number 10.
Starting point is 00:35:22 Miami. They're on a three-game winning streak. They were outgained by 326 yards and won. They're good. They're not great. They have the number one scoring defense. I think they're well-coached. I think being well-coached is good enough to be in this group.
Starting point is 00:35:39 I mean, seriously. Like they can go over the top. Top. Saints can't. I kind of get the same defensive performance. I don't with the bills. When you get out gained by 326 yards and win and I'm winning convincingly, Miami's 10. Number nine. Arizona, I think.
Starting point is 00:35:58 I mean, Kyler Murray leads all quarterback in rushing touchdowns and rushing yards. It's something. He's had multiple touchdowns in every game. He's growing. They're number one in total offense. They're giving you 250 yards. a game, you know, passing, 150 rushing. They're hard to defend.
Starting point is 00:36:16 I mean, I wouldn't want to play them. They're right now. They're certainly not the worst team in the NFC West. They're very explosive. They're getting better on defense. I think they're number nine. Number eight. Green Bay just got blown out.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Green Bay, I think. They're too reliant on Devante Adams. They got rid of Blake Martinez at linebackers. So now they're lousy at linebacker. They've lost two of their last three games off a buy. Minnesota pushed them around. like a grocery cart for three and a half hours. But they've got Aaron Rogers.
Starting point is 00:36:46 They're good with a lead. I think they're competent at head coach, very good at quarterback. Wouldn't trust them in a big spot, though. Green Bay at eight. Number seven. Titans just got rolled by Cincinnati. I'll go seven Titans. They were good like three weeks ago.
Starting point is 00:37:04 I love their coach. Derek Henry's amazing. Tannale's pretty good. They need a pass rush. So they're limited, but we don't think they have a bad coach or a bad team, right? I mean, it felt like to me it was a bad matchup with Cincinnati. That's a good offense, and they couldn't get a pass rush, and Cincinnati's own line stinks, so they couldn't take advantage of the one Cincinnati issue
Starting point is 00:37:25 that's really, really, really bad. I still like them. They just want and got a cornerback before the trading deadline. That'll help their defense. Seven. Number six. I don't know what I'm doing now. Raiders.
Starting point is 00:37:37 They've beaten the Chiefs. They've beaten the Saints. I just watched him this weekend go to Cleveland and beat a really solid Cleveland team. Derek Carr is going to set every record in his career. He and Gruden work. He's good. He's a top 10 quarterback with Gruden. He is in everything.
Starting point is 00:37:54 What do you want me to say? They got beat by Tampa. It was a COVID week. The whole offensive line had a COVID scare. They looked like crap. Their schedule going forward is the 30s in the league. I mean, they beat the Panthers who I think are really a tough out. They beat the Saints.
Starting point is 00:38:08 They beat the Chiefs. They beat the Brown. I think they're a top six team. Number five. Ravens, now I start feeling confident. Baltimore's a top five team. Folks, they outgain the Steelers by 240 yards. Lamar didn't play well.
Starting point is 00:38:23 They're still a good team. They outgain the Steelers. They push the Steelers around for three and a half hours. You know, Lamar Jackson's regressed. And that's why they're not a Super Bowl favorite right now. He's regressed. But I don't think any of the stuff is totally unsolvable. I don't like his throwing motion.
Starting point is 00:38:39 I never have. It's weird. He misses too many open receivers. I don't think he's good up to sidelines, deep balls, but whatever, they're five. Number four. The one team I think I've got underrated, Seattle. They get Jamal Adams back, but I haven't seen them in a while, and Carlos Dunlap, here he comes. It's the best offense. Do you know they're the only team in the NFL that scored 27 plus points every game this year?
Starting point is 00:39:00 They have the best football player in the world. They're winning without healthy running backs, without a pass rush. I think starting this next week, they're going to start potentially in the next week or two when Carlos Dunlap is in shape and ready to go, and Jamal Adams is back. They're going to start rolling people. Seattle at four. Number three.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Pittsburgh. Slow down. I know they're undefeated. Can they blow out anybody? Can they blow out anybody? They're a field goal away from going to overtime with Tennessee. And this past week, they got out game by 240 yards. I honestly think the weakness of the team is Big Ben.
Starting point is 00:39:32 You can't blame Mike Tom. Mike Tomlin's done his job. This defense is great. That's Tomlin's side of the ball. Mike Tomlin's beyond criticism. He has done his job of this organ. And I've been critical of Mike Tomlin. But that defense is Mike's, and it is nesting.
Starting point is 00:39:44 and it is nasty. It is nasty. Mike Tomlin has done everything. I, Kevin Colbert, you can't blame him. I think it's the best constructed roster in the NFL. I don't trust Big Ben in big spots. I've seen him make too many bad throws. So I'd say Pittsburgh 3.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Number two. Tampa Bay. Oh, stop. Last night was such a, I had the Giants last night. Last night's the most predictable game of the year. Tampa Bay plays the Saints next week. It's their season. They want to win this division because they got beat by them first.
Starting point is 00:40:14 week and they look like garbage. They're still not healthy. They're still doing it with, you know, used parts at skill positions. Mike Evans, thank God, is back. Chris Godwin, they're still waiting. So this is a, this is the best combination of explosive offense, veteran smart quarterback, great defense. I got it all here. They're basically Pittsburgh with more efficiency at quarterback. Tom Brady right now, 17 passing touchdowns and one pick since week three. That's the best in the NFL in that span. I trust Tom in big spots late. I don't know it was with Big Ben. Number one. Kansas City, they've actually won, they're 4-0 in the road this year. I mean, they're the only team in the league. I don't even care where they play. I can play in the
Starting point is 00:40:56 parking lot at Fox. Who cares? They're going to drop 35 on you. They had a weird week against the Raiders, came back, didn't have enough. It's the best team in the league. I trust them. I trust Andy Reed and Mahomes down the stretch more than I would trust Big Ben. And their defense, frankly, is way underrated now. It's a top five defense in the NFL. It's playing really, really good. So there's my hurt hierarchy. I don't even know if it's remotely accurate outside of the top floor. I like my top five.
Starting point is 00:41:21 The rest of it's nonsense. I don't even know. Seriously, I love Kansas City, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Baltimore. After that, it is nonsense. I don't even know if the Raiders could lose the next six. I think you have the top three right. I would put the Steelers above the bucks. But yeah, I'm with you on the rest of it.
Starting point is 00:41:38 It's... Okay, go ahead and bang on Miami. You tell me a team that gets out gained by 350 yards, starts a rookie quarterback and crushes them. I would move Tennessee above the Raiders. I think I would too. But I, seriously, I'm not even arguing with you. It gets very weird after the top three.
Starting point is 00:42:00 I mean, I watched the Raiders and I've rolled my eyes at the Raiders. For years, I'm like, give me a break, but they beat Mahomes, they beat Breeze. I just take the, everybody gets a stinker. They were bad against the Bucks. It was a COVID week. They were bad. And they got, they faced a, they beat New Orleans and they kind of drubbed them. And Kansas City.
Starting point is 00:42:21 And I, I've said this about the Raiders. They're, they're the only team in the NFL that I don't think can win multiple playoff games, but can also beat every team in the league. And they've proven it because they've beaten Kansas City. They can beat any team in the league. At most teams that I say, they can't win multiple playoff games, they're not going to beat the top three or four teams. I think the Raiders could beat anybody on any week.
Starting point is 00:42:44 I think Gruden's had a great year of coaching. Well, so if you look at it that way, then I would move, I'd probably move the Packers above the Raiders also. But I think the Packers could win multiple playoffs. I feel like the Packers are so reliant on Devante Adams. Oh, they're very much a finessey. If he twists his ankle. Yeah, the same team as last year, although they're not nearly as good at linebacker.
Starting point is 00:43:07 They let Blake Martinez go. He's a tackling machine. They're not as good at linebacker. No Saints? No, I don't put that. Okay. So you guys all love the Saints. You tell me that locker room is right.
Starting point is 00:43:18 Michael Thomas practices doesn't play. They have no deep threatability. There's something going on in that locker room. They're very Alvin Kamara. And their defense isn't close to as good as everybody thought. If they beat the bucks again, though. Okay, then it's a different, you know, if this, if that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:34 But like Buffalo, what's, that was embarrassing. That went over New England. They are a Cam Newton fumble from losing to the Patriots who have no players now. They weren't playing Gilmore. They're not playing Edelman. No, I didn't love that game for Buffalo. Yeah, I guess I would have to put the Saints up there too. I don't know. I'm with you actually. I don't know. It's really crazy after the top three teams. Like you can't deny Kansas City, the Bucks and the Steelers are the best teams in the lake right now. I'll put this on my social. You tell me what you think. But I'm not in on
Starting point is 00:44:03 the Saints. Something's not right in that locker room. Their defense isn't Lattimore's not as good. Their rush ends aren't as good. Michael Thomas, They can't throw a deep ball. Eh, I'm not down with it. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon Eastern, 9 a.m. Pacific. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down,
Starting point is 00:46:14 and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 is big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack on day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now.
Starting point is 00:46:36 Thank you for finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Or are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions. bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Starting point is 00:48:01 nobody better, especially in these moments. Trading deadline is joining us live. He's going to be Sunday, Fox NFL Sunday, he's going to be down in San Diego at the Marine Air Corps station in Miramar and beautiful San Diego. He's joining us now live on the trading deadline day, 4 p.m. Eastern. These are crazy days. And it seems like they're getting crazier, by the way. All these young GMs make deals 15 years ago, the guys didn't make deals. So I'm going to throw a team out at you. Your Green Bay. You could use a second receiver. It's not a big free agent organization. I think they could use Blake Martinez. They miss that linebacker. Your gut feeling on, they've got a GM now that's a lot. a little bit more of a dice roller than the previous guy.
Starting point is 00:48:38 Any thoughts on Green Bay? You know, Green Bay, we know that they've talked to the Texans about Will Fuller, but more than anything, they've got to bolster that defense. You just talked about Blake Martinez. And I don't, look, I don't understand the reasoning of what they do a lot over there now for them to move up for Jordan Love. And clearly, that's the last thing you needed when you were one game away from the Super Bowl. Didn't get it.
Starting point is 00:49:02 Didn't get them. A lot of what they did in their dream. after their offseason. And, you know, it's clear, especially in that San Francisco game a year ago, they needed help on that run defense. And they didn't do anything there to help them. They needed help with an extra receiver. They certainly didn't do that. And the draft also, you know, taking a receiver high up. So I don't really understand the rhyme or rationale that goes out a lot in Greenback. Okay. I want to throw this out. Stefan Gilmore, Patriots say they want a first round picking a player. That seems awfully rich to me. But I do think Gilmore.
Starting point is 00:49:36 can play, Jay. What's a reasonable market in your opinion? Oh, my God. Listen, this year is different than any other year. If you have a guy like Gilmore out there, look what just a couple of years ago, the Rams gave up for Ramsey. Yeah. Gilmore's the best cornerback in the NFL, right? It's him or Ramsey, but he's there.
Starting point is 00:49:55 But this is such a different year. And I said on Sunday, there's no instant gratification this year because if you trade for a player, he can't play for you that first game because of COVID rules. He has to test for six days. before he can even join you. So even if you get him in there on time after you trade today, it's not going to play this weekend, probably be limited the week after that.
Starting point is 00:50:15 So you don't have that instant gratification. Plus, we also know the cap goes down next year considerably because of COVID. So as a result of this, you're not going to have teams are not calling around, trying to wheel and deal. You're not going to try and dump out of high price. Are they going to try and dump out of some high price players, but nobody's going to be taking those high-price players, those big contracts,
Starting point is 00:50:36 with the cap's going to be next year. That's why this whole trade deadline this year has been pretty uneventful for the most part. Do you think there will be a big seller or a big trader? Is there a team or two I should, you know, your phone's buzzing a little? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:50:52 It's more of teams trying to sell players, trying to get out of these players, trying to get out of these contracts. Even like, look, I was shocked when I called this weekend, I was shocked at how many people said, yeah, we can't afford Gilmore. And I'm like, it's the best cornerback in the NFL.
Starting point is 00:51:08 Usually teams are clamored. We're not able to. We're not able to deal with the cap. We can't deal with it. And, you know, the cap's going to go down next year. We don't know what we're dealing with. So it's that uncertainty of next year that is taking out a lot of the bidders that you normally have. Again, a guy like Gilmore, you with him.
Starting point is 00:51:24 And by the way, it was funny because he put his house on the market. And I actually got the listing. And in the listing, it says all offers must be in by two. Tuesday, 5 o'clock. I'm serious. I'm not pulling a glazerism. I'm not messing with the year. It really, he said that. I'm like, does he know something we didn't know before that? He had a knee injury this weekend and didn't play? But it's pretty funny that he insisted one hour after the trade deadline, all offers must be it. So I do believe the Jets will draft Trevor Lawrence. He's a generational talent. We've been
Starting point is 00:51:58 talking about him for three years. If they do, I think there's going to be a market for Sam Darnold. Colts? I do. What is your gut feeling on the market for Sam? I do also. I think there'll be a market for Sam. I think Sam has shown really great athleticism this year. He has nothing to work with over there. I think that there will be teams who look at Sam.
Starting point is 00:52:18 I don't think they're going to get an awful lot for him. I really don't. But I certainly think that teams will, it depends. You have an offensive coach. A lot of these coaches like to look at it and say with their ego, oh, I could turn them into a star. I could turn them into a problem. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:33 So you'll have those teams looking for them. By the way, is there a team out there like the Dolphins or the Raiders? They may not be a Super Bowl team, but boy, Flores and Gruden could talk themselves into, you know what? We're close. We beat Kansas City. Anything on the Raiders or the Dolphins? Because I think they have a chance to make the playoffs. And I wonder if in the rooms they're talking a little.
Starting point is 00:52:58 Defensively, both have done a great job. They really have. And Flores, the reason why they made the move to Tua, is because they realize, hey, we're actually in the middle of this day. So, you know, we know what fits his ceiling is. We're not really sure what two his ceiling is. He may be able to have more of a dynamic presence here for us and help us more down the stretch, get us over that hump,
Starting point is 00:53:16 so we can win this division. So I think that's why they, and remember, too, originally, they wouldn't have been able to do it at this point and let him work out some of the kinks and the cobwebs. Because originally they're biweek was week 11, but because of everything that's getting changed up with the schedule they moved all the way up this past week okay i love what they're doing over there they have bought in you name one player in that defense of miami unless you're a diehard fan
Starting point is 00:53:45 i don't think anybody can and that is the one defense well besides pitchburg i would not want to face on a sunday yeah byron jones i guess the the corner from you from dallas okay hey by the way you're down in san diego at the uh marine corps air station in miramar san diego tell us what you're doing there and that means a lot to you, I know. Yeah, it really does. Look, it means a lot to Fox. And it's great. I've been at Fox since 2004. And almost every year, they have sent me or the whole crew to a military base on Veterans Day and or on Thanksgiving. So the military really means a lot to Fox. And then when I started my foundation, MVP, Fox has been so supportive. It's great. So every year, you know, they call and they're like, hey, we're going to just, it's not even do you want to go.
Starting point is 00:54:29 they send me to a different base, and I'm able to really, I'm in my element. I love these people. They are, they do, like, again, our military, they don't know you or me or my kid, and yet they leave their own families to go fight for us. And on Veterans Day itself, particularly it's special. And I want every veteran out there to think going in from right now until next Veterans Day, what are you proud of your time in the military? We all look at you, we're celebrating you next week.
Starting point is 00:54:57 So what are you going to celebrate about yourself? Because we need to have some pride in what we do for this country. Because, man, when we say thank you for your service, you damn sure know that we mean thank you for your service. Yeah, well said. Fox is amazing with the American military. Yeah, they are. We're really amazing.
Starting point is 00:55:13 All right, Glazer. Don't drink that wine behind you. Get in shape. Why don't you go lift weights for one time in your life? For once, I know, for once. All right. I got to keep people like you from bullying me. I know.
Starting point is 00:55:25 I'm tough guy. You're talking about Mr. Tough guy here. I got facial hair. Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
Starting point is 00:55:39 This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you. get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:55:59 Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

Starting point is 00:56:39 and try to make sense of how we survived it, with our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. It was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to Look Back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever.
