Starting point is 00:00:00 This is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Another podcast from some SNL, late-night comedy guy, not quite. Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and friends. Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier. This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Starting point is 00:00:23 Where does your group perform? We do some retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and friends on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal, but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth. Listen to Superhuman on the IHard Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. A win is a win. A win is a win. I don't care what I'm saying. Yep, that's me, Clifford Taylor the 4th. You might have seen the skits, my basketball and college football journey, or my career in sports media. Well, now I'm bringing all of that excitement to my brand new podcast, The Clifford Show.
Starting point is 00:01:21 This is a place for raw, unfilled conversations with athletes, creators, and voices that not only deserve to be heard, but celebrated. So let's get to it. Listen to the Clifford show on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. And for more behind the scenes, follow at Clifford and at TikTok's podcast network on TikTok. On the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:01:41 From 1979, that was a big moment for me. 84's big to me. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. With our friends, fellow comedians,
Starting point is 00:01:54 and favorite authors. Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s. 84 was a wild year. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Thanks for listening to The Heard podcast. Be sure to catch us live every weekday from 12 to 3 Eastern, 9 to noon Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and FS1. Find your local station for the herd at Fox Sports Radio.com or stream us live every day on the iHeartRadio app by searching Herd. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Carsheel.com, code heard, customizable plans.
Starting point is 00:02:35 Start as low as $99 a month. If your car breaks down, don't have a warranty, you don't want to get dinged for an $800 sensor light. That almost happened to me one time. Joy Taylor is joining me. Mark Schlerich, actually, we've been talking about Tampa Bay and New Orleans. Mark Schlerick did the Niners Saints game last week.
Starting point is 00:02:52 I thought the Niners were really going to, it was pretty close for about two, three quarters. and Mark won three Super Bowls, multiple-time Pro Bowl, or now Fox Sports NFL analyst. He's doing these games. So, Joy and I, I have had this theory that Tom Brady's whole career, he's been consistent.
Starting point is 00:03:08 And then he goes to Tampa. He's had three awful games, two average ones, four great ones, and he's been a little inconsistent. And I think because he, you know, he likes to gear it up over the top throw. So James, we all view him as inconsistent. But is, is it that or,
Starting point is 00:03:26 Could he possibly go to the Saints with Sean Payton, a risk adverse coach most of the time? I mean, what did you see from James? Do you think he could change a little bit and be productive without all the turnovers? Yeah, no, I think there's no question that he could do that. I think the things you have to understand about Sean Payton as a coach, one thing that he prides himself on is, hey, I want to make sure that I mitigate the potential disasters for my players. What puts them in harm's way? What are they good at? What are they not good at? Let's make sure that we lean on their strengths, mitigate their weaknesses. One thing about
Starting point is 00:04:07 Sean Payton is they're a underneath passing football team first and foremost. They are not pushing it down the seams. They're not pushing the big, you know, the big dagger concepts and all that. They're going to push it down. They're going to check down. They're going to make sure that they have a bunch of built-in easy throws. Let's not take our quarterback and make him jump off the high dive every, every single play. Let's let him, you know, jump just off the edge of the pool, you know, into the kind of medium end of the pool. So that's a big process of what he's going to do. And then the other thing about Sean Payton is he wants to run the ball. The end of the day, he wants to have over 100 yards rushing. He wants to control the temple of the game through
Starting point is 00:04:48 short passing, through easy completions, and through the running game. And so, So if that's what you call, if you take away some of those deep strikes, because we all know that James has a propensity to throw it into a team meeting. Like there's no window that he doesn't think he can throw it into. Right. And you just won't design those things. Sean Payton won't design those things. So he's not going to give them the opportunity or give James Winston the opportunity to hurt himself with those designs. So you have the Brown's Eagles game, which is pretty interesting.
Starting point is 00:05:17 It feels, they've got to stop the bleeding with Philadelphia. This is a huge game for them. And as you look over tape, I had said earlier this week, as we tend to do this in politics and sports, we're looking for the problem. And there's usually several. It's not one thing. I could make an argument in Philadelphia.
Starting point is 00:05:35 They've simply never been the same since Frank Reich left. And, you know, Kyle Shanahan left. Matt Ryan's not the same. When you watch tape of the Eagles as you're doing preparing for this game, and I actually like them in this game, close, what are the issues? What do you see systematically stuff that can be fixed, stuff that you don't think maybe that can be fixed? Well, first and foremost, you know, everybody talks about their offensive line, the different combinations of offensive linemen that have played, and all the issues they've had protecting their quarterback, right?
Starting point is 00:06:07 And they point to the offensive line and say, wow, those guys aren't very good. And that's easy, right? That's low-hanging fruit. But I always look at the coordinator in general. So protection really comes through protection. The offensive line is a portion of that. There's no question. But protection really comes through the play caller.
Starting point is 00:06:27 What are you doing to mitigate the disasters, the potential disasters that you have? Are you creating some layups? Are you creating easy throws? So think about it this way, Colin. If you've got 30 plays, right? I want to try to get that down to really 12 times where I'm asking my offensive line to hold up on a seven-step drop or a five-step drop with a hitch, right? Can I get that down? Can I take those 30 plays and pair it down to where you're really only being challenged 12 times? So that means
Starting point is 00:06:59 how many tunnel screens can I throw? Can I throw three or four tunnel screens? Can I throw three or four swing passes? Can I throw three or four screens? Can I have four or five three-step drops in there with a, you know, with a quick, slant, flat kind of combination? Can I have a five-step drop, all-go specials or whatever, a five-step drop where the ball has to come out immediately. So that my offensive line can be aggressive. Now, listen, if I can do all that, I've taken that 30 plays, and I've gotten it down to about 12 times where my offensive line needs to hold up, right? If we can't hold up 12 times with all that variety, then we're not any good.
Starting point is 00:07:37 And so that comes down to coaching. And then ultimately, your quarterback. Like, sometimes I'm watching film on Carson Went, and I just think, man, it doesn't matter how many, times you pat that ball, it is not going to burp. That is not a baby. Quit patting the ball and get rid of the damn thing. Throw the damn thing. So he will turn down a profit to try to make a big play. And he's got to quit that. You've got to put the ball out there. Like there are many times where you see him in a second down in eight situation. And instead of taking the flat that's right there that would get you into a third down and four where you have the entirety of the
Starting point is 00:08:14 playbook open to you. He holds the ball. He scrambles around. He takes a stack or he throws him in complete pass. And now you're in third down and eight. And let me just tell you from, you know, from experience, third down and eight sucks. It's a horrible place to be. There's, there's no, everybody knows what you're going to do. And there's, you know, you have no options. So, you know, part of it's on the coaching, part of it, obviously on the group up front. And then part of it's on Carson Wentz. He's got to be better. By the way, Jim Harba, had a rough year in Michigan, but of his 16 years, full years coaching college or pro, he's had 13 winning years and a 500 year. He had two rough years at Stanford as they rebuild.
Starting point is 00:08:57 He rubbed some people the wrong way in San Francisco, but he got to a Super Bowl and he wins everywhere. I don't, I'm not going to be too punitive based on COVID. I mean, Penn State's unraveled and, you know, a lot of good programs this year. Oklahoma's not very good. It's stuff's happening. I get COVID. College football is kind of a mess. do you think Harbaugh deserves a second chance? When I say Jim Harbaugh to you, do you think he can win in the NFL again? Oh, yeah. I think Jim understands.
Starting point is 00:09:27 I mean, he understands the line of scrimmage play. He understands, you know, I mean, that guy's always going to have a fullback. He's going to run the ball. He understands those things. I think at Michigan, when you look at, you know, when they line up against Ohio State, like the difference in talent level is extreme. Yeah. Now, is that his fault?
Starting point is 00:09:46 You know, is it his fault that they were, I believe, you know, I was talking to Joel Klatt the other day, and I think Joel told me 25-star recruits went to the Big Ten. Fifteen of them went to Ohio State. The rest of the schools, you know, divvied up the other five, right? So, like, you have such a discrepancy there, and everybody points to Michigan and says, well, Michigan, Ohio State. Well, it's really Ohio State and then everybody else in the Congress. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:10 So, like, I don't look at that and say, oh, Jim Harbaugh. can't coach. I mean, you know, there's a different level of talent there, and it's hard to overcome that. You know, so this week you have Eagles Browns. I want to talk about Cleveland. The last two weeks, I've watched them play in such windstorms that I just didn't even talk about Cleveland. I will say this, though. You did. You're looking at film now. Physically, they went from a terrible offensive line, Cleveland, to kind of a good offensive line as an offensive lineman, And I think it's impossible to win big in the NFL with a bad old line. You can have a bad, you can have bad corners.
Starting point is 00:10:49 But you cannot win in this league in the playoffs with a bad old line. That's why I think the Colts are going to be a tough out because just simply they can control the line of scrimmage. When you watch the Browns, are they a little overrated, a little underrated? Where do you sit with them in their personnel as an offensive lineman when you look at them? Yeah, I would probably say a little bit underrated. You know, I was really impressed watching their film from last week. And I know they played in a couple of windstorms, the last couple of home games. So it's hard to really evaluate the quarterback and the passing game in those situations.
Starting point is 00:11:25 But their commitment to what they want to do, their commitment to running the ball. And I love kind of having one thing. Like I always think about this with players and with coaches. Be great at one thing. do one thing exceptionally well, right? And then we can build off that one thing. We can do that one thing a multitude of ways. You know, we can have it with different motions and different personnel groupings and we can
Starting point is 00:11:52 dress it up and make it look different. But you're essentially working on the skill of doing that one thing. And then when you perfect that, you can add the ancillary things that go off that, the other plays that come off that, the other runs that come off that, and the play action stuff that comes off that. And I would say that Kevin Stefansky in Cleveland has been a great job of saying this is what we are as a team, the way we want to run the ball. And then we have some adjunct plays off of that. But we're going to dominate a lot of scrimmage.
Starting point is 00:12:21 We're going to be committed to that. We've got backs that understand that style. We've got receivers that will block. We understand what we're trying to do. We run a lot of two tights, three tight-end sets. Every guy has to be responsible to be able to block the edge. And I'll tell you, both sides of the ball. It's funny, when you can run like that, it's amazing how much better you are at defending that stuff.
Starting point is 00:12:41 And you look at their defensive line as well. Their defensive line is stacked. It is stout. They play the run exceptionally well. They get off blocks and they fly around. Like, their line of scrimmage play is really good. And this is what benefits you come down the playoffs stretch, right? If you can go on the road and travel and run the ball and control the tempo of a game, you've got a chance to win in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:13:02 That's what they're building right now. Good stuff, Mark. Appreciate it. Mark Schler. Thanks, bud. You got it, man. But, you know, he's speaking of the running game, it's interesting because Pete Carroll this week, you know, Seattle obviously has had a lot of turnovers recently.
Starting point is 00:13:15 They had a lot at Buffalo and last week and they lost. And we have the Pete Carroll was talking about, you know, we got too many mistakes. And we're going to do less, you know, let Russ cook. Here was Pete Carroll. We have to get back to mixing our stuff and getting back to balance. So we're not just relying on the throwing game where they can keep calling their stuff to get after you, to cover you more aggressively because they don't have to respect to run as much. We need to get our game mixed up.
Starting point is 00:13:40 That's just the way we play best. By the way, this is something that's funny. There's only four teams in the NFL that run more than pass. New England, Baltimore, Cleveland, Minnesota. I like two and a half of these. I like Baltimore and Minnesota a lot. And I kind of like Cleveland. And New England played well last weekend.
Starting point is 00:13:58 But there's four, I think everybody in the league, including the Chiefs, should run more. There's four reasons my theory on everybody in the league's past. passing too much. Number one, the more you run, the fewer hits your quarterback takes. That's an obvious one. 30 passes is 30 opportunities to bang around my quarterback. Number two is all quarterbacks are better throwing on play action. So if you have an effective run game, everybody throws better on second and three, as Mark said, third and eight's a terrible down. An effective run team puts a quarterback in a position. Linebackers play close to the line. You have bigger gaps between linebacker and safety.
Starting point is 00:14:32 Number three, offensive linemen prefer run blocking. General managers will tell you it's ridiculous to ask offensive linemen to pass protect 40 times a game. Why? Because they're the least athletic guys in the team and the defensive linemen are almost always more athletic than the offensive lineman. But asking an offensive lineman at 315 pounds to block downhill, I mean, that is what they live for.
Starting point is 00:15:01 It guarantees more offensive line success. And number four, efficient run games. If you have a lead, they eat the clock. If you have a bad defense, they protect your defense. They keep you off the field. They control the time of possession. Remember, incomplete pass stops the clock. Run, run, run.
Starting point is 00:15:19 If you have a bad defense, it shortens the game. If you have a lead, it shortens the game. I think the league passes too much. And so, listen, if the Seattle Seahawks a couple years ago would have nailed their first round running back pick, instead of a whiff, and they had Chris Carson as a two, they'd be in a good spot. But I think Seattle, it's like I think Rush should cook. The problem was Seattle wasn't just running.
Starting point is 00:15:40 It was that they were predictable. They ran on first down virtually every play. They were not creative. So Russ was always coming out of holes in the second half, which he is deft at. He is very adaptable there. He's, you know, he can make these plays. But you should run more. I don't want my quarterback.
Starting point is 00:15:56 I think what Kansas City is doing really smart. They throw under the league average. They don't want Mahomes getting hit. They want him throwing on play action. They want their offensive line to road grade and pancake block, not have to constantly be backpedaling against more athletic defensive ends. And in the end, the games are shorter. Let's get in town.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Let's win the game. Get on the bus. Circle the stadium we won and get out of here. Control the clock, control lead, shrink the game, even for the good teams. Let's get in, win, get out, go home. You know you want to do that if you're the less talented team. You want to shorten the game. But for everybody, fewer plays, eat the clock, get out of here healthy.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged. It's the enhanced games. Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year. Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds. Do you remember when Diana Ross double-tap Little Kim's boobs at the VMAs?
Starting point is 00:18:09 Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast. I'm Sam J. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick a here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode, with Mark Lamont Hill waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84 was big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so you all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack.
Starting point is 00:18:42 So I'm starting to see that there's a through line. We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. Yes. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history.
Starting point is 00:18:58 Listen to look back at it on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hardway with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Keer Games. And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking, Tripp Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we, are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough.
Starting point is 00:19:34 Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses. Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth? Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:19:48 And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines, is we have real conversations about healing, growth, fatherhood, pressure, and purpose on my new podcast Learn the Hardway. Open your free Out Heart Radio app. Search Learn the
Starting point is 00:20:03 Hardway and listen now. Joy with the news. No, no, no, no, turn on the news. This is the Heard Line News. Rep Farr made headlines recently when he said he would have stuck with Nick Foals instead of Carson Wentz as the Eagles starter after the Super Bowl run. He got a lot of pushback for his opinion and he spoke up
Starting point is 00:20:23 to defend his position. All right. They chose Carson Well. I'm not saying that's wrong. I'm not saying it's right. There's no question to me that he has the potential to be that type of player, meaning capable of leading a team to a Super Bowl. It was just my opinion that based on, just strictly based on how Nick played and the results, I would have stuck with him.
Starting point is 00:20:52 So I'm done with his commentary. I got nothing yet spread far. I've talked to him before. this is not. Nobody believes that. And by the way, sometimes it takes a long time to win an argument. Like, right, right. Like, you don't... And so the
Starting point is 00:21:06 Nick Foles is better than Wence. And I know everybody's banging on Wens, but we're seeing what Nick Foles is. Like, this is what is. He's a backup. If you watched that game this weekend. We all know what... We've seen Wence carry a bad team to Wins multiple times. Foles has never done that. That's not what he does. It hurts my eyes.
Starting point is 00:21:22 You can't... I don't deserve it. We all deserve better than Chicago's offense. America deserves better. Chicago's defense deserves better than Chicago's offense. The city of Chicago, like, it's hard to watch. Network should say, listen, I know it's Chicago's ball, but we're just going to keep their defense on the field for network advertisers. We don't want the audience to purge.
Starting point is 00:21:42 It was just a strange, it's still a very strange situation there because I do think that they have a very capable defense. Oh, no, I think there's a lot of good players in there. And I love Alan Robinson's really, really good. have some good pieces. And the offensive line's okay. They're not without talent offensively, but they also lost Tariq Cohen earlier in the year to an injury.
Starting point is 00:22:03 He's the juice, and they just miss him. I like Nick Foles, and at the beginning of this conversation when this first started, I think you had a fair argument, and Carson Wentz has been struggling. But, yeah, I mean, the thing with Barb is like, this is the circus. Like, you give your opinion out there in the world, and it's this kind of controversial. It's going to get discussed. So two in the Dolphins travel to Denver on the Broncos Sunday. Weird line.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Weird line. It will be, what is the line? The line's three. Miami's only favored by three. Maybe it's the altitude and rookie quarterback. I think that's what it is. It's his first high altitude cold game, maybe? It'll be his fourth start.
Starting point is 00:22:46 If he does get a win, it'll put him in some elite company. He would become the only second rookie quarterback in the last 40 years to win. in his first four starts in the NFL. So maybe that adds to it. This happens like once a year or twice. There is a line, Joy. And I'm like, okay, this doesn't make any sense. And instead of being aggressive and going for it, I'm the opposite.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Stay away from it. I don't even understand the line. So a backup quarterback against one of the hottest NFL teams and one of the best defenses and one of the best special teams to a turnover plague team in Denver, they go to the backup and it's still three. It doesn't make any sense. To me, Miami should be favored like six. But that's, I mean, that stat is kind of telling, though.
Starting point is 00:23:28 He'd only be the second quarterback in the last 40 years. The last one was Ben Rathesberger in 2004 to win his first four starts. He has the third best odds to win offensive rookie of the year right now, according to Fox Bet, Joe Burrow, plus 125 at the best odds. Justin Herbert, plus 137. And two at plus 333. Justin Jefferson and James Robinson are fourth and fifth. I could see it.
Starting point is 00:23:53 You can see how the rest of the season plays out, obviously, to determine that. But I could see him climbing up there pretty quickly. At least passing Justin Herbert just based off of the winds that they're... You see, Justin Herbert got a haircut to that. He did get a haircut. He did get a haircut. He did get a haircut. You thought he was young looking before? I saw the alert as a little...
Starting point is 00:24:10 Alert. Yeah, I get the alert, you know, when news comes up. Justin Herbert cutting his hair is news. As someone who, every time I change my hair, it's a big deal. I totally understand Justin. I like it. He looks, you know, he just covered. the long locks. I don't mind
Starting point is 00:24:25 the hair thing. Like, do what you want with your hair. I can't speak on behalf of hair. I've done not. Yeah, I mean, in general, people should just do what they want with their hair. It looks good. It looks good. I don't know. I guess it's news because it was long and now in shorts. Russell Westbrook could be on his way out of Houston soon.
Starting point is 00:24:41 One team that might be interested in acquiring him is the Wizards. Houston and Washington have reportedly discussed swapping Westbrook and John Wall in a trade. However, the deal is not gaining any traction yet because the Rockets want more in return than what Washington has offered. According to
Starting point is 00:24:56 Sham Sharania, the deal is not getting any traction because Rockets want more assets than Washington is offered, and that could involve draft capital, the number nine overall pick in tonight's draft or younger players. Westbrook is owed $132.6 million over the next three seasons, and Wall is
Starting point is 00:25:13 owed 132.9. Westbrook is, let's be honest. Westbrook's a lot better than John Wall. Oh, he's a better player, and John Wall's injury past is not, you know, Great. That's really what the issue is here is what Shania is saying. Like they need more than just a player swap if they're going to give Westbrook away. They are clearly getting rid of the better player in this situation or the Rockets.
Starting point is 00:25:35 So it would be more that needed to be involved in this move. I'm with Bueger. Like this is, it's time to just make the change. No, I thought Buehker had a great point. Like, listen, you're lucky. They both want to go east. So Houston's a very attractive city. no state tax, warmer winter weather.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Yeah, you're going to get free agents. Absolutely going to get people that are going to take money. By the way, sometimes if the star thing doesn't work, do what Oklahoma City does. And it's like, we're just going to get a bunch of draft picks. We're going to get 15 of them. If three of them hit, then you have a new team. I mean, you have a new coach. You have a new staff.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Why not start new? Like, you've seen what this was. You've seen what it is. It's not working. They both want out. It makes perfect sense. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Now, I do think that because.
Starting point is 00:26:21 they are in the power position are the Rockets organization, they're going to stall it as much as they can because they should get as much as they can for Westbrook and Hardin if they do make moves. But, you know, it's just kind of one of those times. We've tried it. It doesn't work. Move on. Good stuff. Joy with the news. Well, that's the news. And thanks for stopping by. The Hurd Lie News. Mid-season edition of Buy, sell, or hold. They'll pose questions. Would I buy it? Would I sell it or hold on there? coming up. Be sure to catch live editions of the herd weekdays in noon

Some call it grotesque. Others say it's unleashing human potential. Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all, embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.

Or when Kanye said that George Bush didn't like black people. I know what you're thinking. What the hell does George Bush got to do with Little Kim? Well, you can find out on the Look Back at it podcast.
Starting point is 00:28:47 I'm Sam Jek. And I'm Alex English. Each episode, we pick it here, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it. Including a recent episode with Mark Lamont Hill, waxing all about crack in the 80s. To be clear, 84's big to me, not just because of crack. I'm down to talk about crack all day, but just so y'all know. I mean, at this point, Mark, this is the second episode where we've discussed crack. So I'm starting to see that there's a through line.
Starting point is 00:29:12 We also have AIDS on the table right now. Thank you for finishing that sentence. I don't think there's a more important year for black people. Really? Yeah. For me, it's one of the most important years for black people in American history. Listen to look back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to my new podcast, Learn the Hard Way with me, your host, and your favorite therapist, Kear Games.
Starting point is 00:29:39 And in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm bringing over a decade of my own experience in the mental health field and conversations with so many incredible guests. I'm talking. Trip Fontaine, Ryan Clark. Sometimes when we're in the pursuit of the thing, we get so wrapped up in the chase that we don't realize that we are in possession of the thing. And we're still chasing it. And we don't know when we've done enough. Because people scoreboard watch. Life becomes about wins and losses.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Steve Burns, Dustin Ross, because you find it important to be a good person while you hear on earth. Are you a good person because you're afraid? Because that's two different intentions, bro. Absolutely. And that's two different levels of trust. I want you to just really be a good person. Join me, Kear Gaines,

Starting point is 00:30:40 Protein vitamins, minerals, digestive enzymes, elite nutrition. MDrive Start.com. It's week of 11. NFL season. I am your stockbroker. Joy will ask me what I should do. Should I buy this opportunity? Should I sell this opportunity? Or many stockbrokers say, just hold it right there. Don't be impatient. Here we go. Bye. Time to. Colin will decide if he'll buy it. Sell. Roger to tell. Or hold.
Starting point is 00:31:13 The Steelers will be the number one seed in the AFC. Buy seller hold. I'm going to go with a sell. Sell, sell, sell. Okay, first of all, they've won five of their nine games by one possession, and they have four games remaining. The Ravens are a tough out, the bills on the road, the Colts, and even Cleveland, they crush Cleveland early. You figure Cleveland can't play that bad,
Starting point is 00:31:37 and they'll probably play pretty well against the Steelers a second time around. So let's sell that right now. Okay. The Bucks will be the number one seed in the NFC. Let's sell that. Sell, sell, sell. Come back in two weeks. They've got the Rams on Monday night,
Starting point is 00:31:53 and then they have the Chiefs, who I don't think they match up particularly well with. So for now, let's see how they look Monday night. The Dolphins will win the AFC East by Seller-Holt. I'm going to go buy. Buy, buy, buy. Okay, first of all,
Starting point is 00:32:08 they're one game back of the Bills in the AFC East. Do you know who they play Week 17? The Bills. So if they can just, they're on a five-game winning street, and they also have one plus takeaway in 15 straight games with Brian Flores as coach. That's really impressive. They take the ball away and they often take the ball away and score very soon thereafter. Love it.
Starting point is 00:32:29 The Giants will win the NFC East. This is a buy for me. Buy, bye, bye, bye. So their defensive front matches up really well in this division, a division that's struggling at quarterback. So they're three and two against the NFC East. And they really have the one unit that should win this division. Daniel Jones back-to-back games without a turnover is really good too but Washington's quarterback situation right now Philadelphia is not playing well
Starting point is 00:32:54 Dallas is a mass this defensive line should control the division for the next two months the Patriots will have their first losing season since 2000 by seller hold I think so but hold oh please okay they play the Texans the Chargers and the Jets let's just let's just hold and an Arizona team that I think they match up pretty well with. So I would just hold on this. I predicted they'd be bad, and I think they will be. The Browns will make the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Well, I predicted they would, but I'm going to sell it right now. Sell, sell, sell. First of all, four games this year with 10 points or less. Only the Jets have that many. They're currently outside of the wild card spot, and I think both the Raiders in Miami ahead of them are playing better football right now. So I would say this morning, I would say it just on the way out.
Starting point is 00:33:49 Tua will finish with a better record than Kyler by sell or hold. That's a buy. Buy, bye, bye, bye. It's hard because the dolphins have an easier strength of schedule. Kyler has to go to the Seahawks, to the Patriots, and the Rams. The other thing, I find Arizona fascinating to watch, but I've watched Arizona be outplayed three weekends in a row, and I've watched them win two of them.
Starting point is 00:34:16 So I don't know. I put Arizona as the 10th best team in the league ahead of the Colts and Raiders, and I'm not sure I'm right. Kyler's great. I'm not sure what Arizona is. So my guess is Miami's a more well-rounded team, and I think they've got jet games or Ws, so I'd say I'd go with them. Brian Flores wins Coach of the Year.
Starting point is 00:34:43 Yes, now that Matt Rules stacked up. up some losses. I think he would... Buy, bye, bye! Yeah, I mean, they're in the middle of a rebuild. Now, think about this. They're in the middle of a rebuild. They've won 8 of 11.
Starting point is 00:34:55 That's really remarkable. Like, if you're in the middle of a rebuild, like the New York Giants, you're playing well. And they're playing well. Three and seven. So to me... You know, I heard a story about Brian Flores this week. It was interesting. Somebody said,
Starting point is 00:35:11 two NFL teams, one of the ones in L.A. you know, you just interview people over the course of a couple years. Everybody was in on Flores, but in New England, he wasn't the official defensive coordinator. Right. So everybody was like, could you just do one year of that? Like, could you call defensive plays? Could you get the title for a year? But of course, it looks like Belichick for years and years struggled.
Starting point is 00:35:34 His assistant struggled. But Joe Judge appears to be really good and Flores is really good. Yes. So I think he's moved on that. I think they'd probably give it to Mike Tomlin, but he's obviously a candidate coach the year. Tomlin? I told you this yesterday. Did I say this on the air? I don't know if I said this on the air about Mike Tomlin. If I selling holds over. So in Hollywood, if you like a young actor, you can just sign them to a deal and you keep them away from other networks and studios. You just happen a million times where you just sign somebody you're like, she's young.
Starting point is 00:36:11 You sign their exclusivity. So we're going to pay a not a fortune, but we're going to pay. you to just keep you away and we're going to develop projects for you. I said that I think did I say it on I think you said it to me. I don't think you said it on there though. If I was a network right now and it noted I should be a president at a network. You know what I would do? I would negotiate a deal with Mike Tomlin. I wouldn't pay him a ton because he makes a lot of money and I but I would pay him. I'd say listen I'll pay a half a million dollars a year. We get your broadcasting rights in 10 years when you're retired.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Because I think Mike Tomlin is without a doubt next to Gruden, the best coach in any sport I've ever heard on the mic. Not only that, like Gruden and Tomlin have an amazing gift. First of all, they're so alpha. I mean, they just literally fly through the television. They're just big alpha. But they speak in perfect eight word sentence. They're like, Gruden.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Hey. that guy my kind of guy and Tom is the exact same thing hey we're not a big 10 team facing a Mac team and that's television good and succinct Tomlin and Gruden I mean they are built to be TV stars
