and I'll be honest I completely forgot that I had to record a mailback because we didn't have

Stucky this week, so usually we just record that earlier in the week, and then we put it on the weekend. I said I was going to do a mailbag for the weekend on Friday's podcast. And then on like Friday morning, I was doing some stuff. Then I went to the gym and I just completely, I don't know, forgot. I'll be honest, completely forgot. And then I was playing golf in Napa, no big deal. Beautiful day. Vineyards. When was actually pumping. You know, a few pops. And my guy, Mike, the producer. this podcast was like he hit me up about a party

that we're having next week for the volume put on by our guy coward for Super Bowl week in Los Angeles and then when I saw his text message I realized oh my God I did not record the podcast

so luckily podcasting you can do whatever you want so it's about 6 o'clock on Friday night no big deal you know this isn't digging ditches we can handle it and I'm gonna record I'm going to answer your questions right now.

UC Davis Aggies. My dad did too. Yeah. I mean, if I don't need anyone to hire anyone right now, but keep in touch. And thanks for hitting me up. I love Sacramento. It was just. just actually out in SAC last week. Sacramento is booming. Absolutely booming because during COVID, everyone in the Bay Area realized the home that they bought for like 600 grand 10 years ago was worth like $1.8 million. They sold it and they moved to SAC and they doubled their square footage for about $1.1 million.

And they banked $7,000, $900,000. $Sacramento has benefited so much from COVID. Obviously, all the suburbs have in America, but nothing like SAC because Bay Area Homes, I just saw my neighbor sold this condo and I thought, Chuching! It is pretty crazy. I don't, it wouldn't be a regret, but sometimes I think if in, when I bought this in the Bay Area, if I just would have bought the same out of the house, even like a track home

in Sacramento, it would have doubled in value. You never know, though. It's easy to play that game. Plus, I've enjoyed being a Walnut Creek. Big Chiefs fan from Iowa. Where do you think Batonagie will end up? I think he was a great coach in Kansas City, and his problems in Chicago were more due to Ryan Pace.

Not going to lie, I agree. Just curious if you think he'll get another chance in the foreseeable future. I think 100%. He'll be rehired for sure. I haven't talked to him. him in a long time, just because it was such a crazy season. I actually need to text him. But, you know, he's a multimillionaire. So when you get a head coaching job, you know, you can

relax a little bit. You can take your time. He'll probably have to be a coordinator again before he becomes a head coach. Mike Kafka, Andy's quarterback coach, just became Sean McDermott's offensive coordinator. I could see him linking back up with Andy. Now that Doug Peterson, that was breaking news, I guess, on Thursday night, is now the head coach with Trent Balke, which I think is a fantastic fit. Balke is a huge ego guy, loves being like a GM slash coach.

Doug is a very, very easygoing head coach for a guy that beat Belichick in a Super Bowl. Think about this. Doug Peterson outduled Bill Belichick in a Super Bowl. And I talked to him three months after at the Combine. I guess it would have been 2018. he is so low key I actually think it's a perfect fit in Jacksonville

it wouldn't shock me if Nagy linked up with him imagine if Nagy and Doug can make Trevor look like a stud then Nagy will be right back in the mix of uh you know of competing to be a head coach I guess you could say I'm a fan at least I live here

the circus that is the Houston Texans what are your thoughts on this clown Jack Easterby do you really have any insight on what actually does, on what he actually does, and what his reputation is around the league? Also, what are your opinions on Casario and do you believe he can turn things around?

Not too optimistic after watching the dumpster fire this year. Well, I'm not very religious. Now, I don't judge anyone. I don't judge anyone. Well, I do a little bit. But when it comes to religion, I know people in my life that are really religious. You know, that's just not my lane.

And clearly, Easter B is. Now, you know, it's easy, like a guy like that making football decisions, I would pump the brakes. But in terms of his faith, I have a problem with a guy like that that runs, you know, like the chapel with the players and then is going to the general manager or is in a position, you know, to influence their contract. That would make me uneasy. But I'll be honest. And as someone in the past that's talked a lot of shit about it, him, I don't really know what's going on. Like, does this guy have any juice?

Because I'm not sure he does. Like, Nick Casario is the guy pulling all the strings. And I've heard enough about Nick Casario. The guy knows his shit. Like, you talk about a guy that was truly taught by Bill Belichick, the ins and outs. This guy was. He's really, really, really high level. Now, he's a little bit, like, I'm not that stiff.

Like, Casario's a little stiff for my life. But in terms of football, in terms of football knowledge, the guy knows his stuff. Now, the one pushback I would have from the outside would just be, I do wonder if Casario thinks that he can control being a GM and like control the coach. And he saw it with Bill like, you do need a very, very powerful coach. Now, listen, I said when they hired David Kelly, no one was going to take the job. So him firing David Kelly after one year didn't bother me at all. David Cully was not a head coach.

Now, if he does that again and thinks that he can win with a guy, then that would be dumb. Now, if he hires, you know, I mean, even Josh McCown, everyone will crush the Josh McCown hire, but who's to say that Josh McCown isn't going to be a better coach than Uber Fluse? Right? I mean, we see coaches hired all the time. Joe Judge was a special teams coordinator. To me, Casario, if he hires a head coach who is good and then he can, use his understanding of everything he learned literally at the like right next to bill belichick

because unlike the coaches cassero and belichick worked together hand in hand for years so i to me if he puts an emphasis on hiring the head coach i think they have a chance obviously they need to improve their talents but i wouldn't write them off now easterby you know to me there's a balance i i can't have the team chaplain telling me who to draft But again, I've never met the guy. It's easy to make fun of them, which I have. I just have to see who they hire. Then I'll give you an opinion.

But I've heard enough positive things about Casario being a high-level guy. We'll just see who they hire and go from there. Let's do that. Okay, Joe, big fan of the show. If you had to pick one quarterback going forward between Borough or Allen, who would you take? Also, where do you see a landing spot for Deshawn? I could see Carolina.

I mean, I get a little Al Davis in me. I lean the big arm. Doesn't mean I'm right. I love Joe Burrell. I'm a huge Joe Burrell fan who is not. I lean the bigger arm. And also, this guy's from California. So I would go with Josh Allen.

Now, we're kind of comparing somewhat apples to oranges, right? Joe Burroughs in his second year. He's only played a year and a half because he got injured. Josh Allen's, whatever, going into his, going to be going into his fifth year. one guy's played a lot longer, but I like the bigger, stronger, faster guy.

Doesn't mean I'm right, but I would lean Josh Allen. A big fan of the pod finally decided to slide into the DMs. This is from a Trojan collectibles. I mean, what are we talking about here, Trojan collectibles? This seems to be a big divide

between 49er fans and when it comes to Kyle Shanahan. While we are almost unanimously in agreement when it comes to a scheme and offensive knowledge, some of us, myself included, aren't sure he's the guy when it comes to being a head coach. While the defensive have been good to elite, the offense, his expertise, have been mid-AF, I think that mean as fuck, as the kids like to say.

Maybe I'm jaded because he planned on signing cousins in 08 or 18 rather than drafting and developing a quarterback in 17. But if the Tray Lance project doesn't work, I think it's time to move on. Am I crazy here? I think you are a little bit. Listen, it's okay to be critical about coaches on individual games. I would tell Kyle this. If we were having a cocktail right now,

I think I would like him to have a redo on that series, second and one, third and two, and then the punt. But, and listen, I was critical of them on individual games. Kyle is a star. Kyle is an absolute stud. I would take Kyle. Shanahan, you know, over any coach under 60 years old, not named Belichick or Andy Reed, in the league.

And that includes Sean McVeigh. I would go to war with Kyle Shanahan in my building and have no problem paying him 12, 13, $14 million a year. I think he's a star head coach. I really do. He has gone to two championship games and one one with Jimmy fucking Garoppolo. Think about that. His quarterbacks were not Josh Allen or Joe Burrell.

They were Jimmy Garoplo. Here's the other thing. I give Kyle credit. His defense is always physical. He hired Robert Solo when no one had ever heard of the bald guy. He elevated Dimeco Ryans when it wasn't a sexy thing to do. A year later, the guy was interviewing for head coaching jobs. Kyle Shanahan, to me, is a superstar head coach.

Now, listen. I mean, I could text Andy Reid. He texted me back in five minutes. I mean, I can't say that about really many coaches in the NFL. You're allowed to be critical. of people that you respect or really like or even love as a fan, right? If you're a diehard New England Patriot fan, you can be critical of Bill Belichick.

It's part of the job, right? It's part of us as fans that watch football that get fired up when a dumb play happens. Like, to me, the play at the end of the first half was stupid. Now, I saw a video where Mahomes screams at Andy like, I got this, and then he screwed it up. But ultimately, it's on the coach. It's part of the deal.

It's part of the gig. Even I saw Kyle say this week, like part of, you know, part of being the play caller slash head coach, I get criticized. It comes with making $12 million. But it doesn't mean that you don't realize, like, listen, Sean McVeigh didn't have a timeout in the fourth quarter of the NFC championship game. Sean McVeigh is a stud. If it wasn't for Kyle Shannon, I'd take Sean McVe in a heartbeat. So it's just, I think sometimes we nitpick coaches a little too much. It's a tough job.

It really is. It's not easy. But besides Belichick, who just won six Super Bowls and went to whatever, nine, most guys are, you know, the upper echelon guys are losing devastating games. It happened to Coach Reed against the Bengals. It's happened to Sean Payton for years. This happened to Kyle. It's happened to Sean McVeigh before.

It happened to Matt LaFleur. Now, I don't know if Matt LaFleur, I wouldn't put him in, obviously Andy and Sean have. done it much longer and Kyle and Sean McVey. But we'll see on the floor. You know, if I gave Kyle or McVe, Aaron Rogers, you know, I think we'd be talking Super Bowl. If I gave the 49ers Aaron Rogers,

they ain't losing to the Rams, I'll promise you that. You said Stafford had nothing. He had Calvin Johnson, so you can't say he had nothing. That's fair. But the Lions overall suck. and the process and his process. Like, bro, you miss the playoffs. But ultimately, I understand why the Colts acquired Carson Wentz. What else were they going to do? They were right there. I mean, they easily could have lost, or excuse me, easily, you know, could have been in the playoffs. And if they would have been in the playoffs,

they would have been dangerous. Now, losing at the Jacksonville Jags, a team that's drafting, last time I checked number one overall for two straight years in week 18 to go to the playoffs is as shitty of a loss as you can have. awful. Like the loss that the Chargers had to the Raiders isn't even close

to the loss of the Colts had to the Jacks. Not even close. Because at least the, I mean, the Raiders were of 9, 10-win team. And it was on the road. You lost to the Jacks. Now, it wasn't Jacksonville.

That's a hard loss to shake. And I watched a lot of Chris Ballard after the game the next couple days. Like, you could tell he was rattled. Like, it's, listen. You know, losing is part of football. It's why I've been critical of Ryan Poles. Like, you watch the way Andy Reid and Brett Veets,

they handed themselves after the loss. Like, it happens. You lost to Joe Burrow. I watched the way Kyle Shanahan, John Lynch handled. Like, football's really, really hard in the playoffs, in the regular season. Hell, playing the worst team in the league, you can lose.

So, you know, I just think you got to figure out a way to make him a little bit better, little bit better. Big fan of the pod from Mid Coast, Maine. Wondering if you could take some time on the show to explain some of the

betting lingo. Curious what plus minus means, Money Line love the show. So, if you're betting, let's just use golf analogies. So today or this weekend, I bet Jason Day to win the Pebble Beach tournament.

I got him plus 2000. That basically means 20 to 1. So I put $100 on Jason Day. If I win, I will make $2,000. Now, if I bet on the Rams to win the Super Bowl, and I take them money line, and it's minus 120, they're minus 120 to win straight up.

I have to bet $120 to win 100. Now, if they're plus 120, I would win $120 on $100. $100 bet. So when you are the favorite, you are minus something. And when you're a huge favorite, like a 10 point favorite, you're usually like minus 350. So that would mean I would have to bet $350 on a team to win $100. Now, if you're a big underdog, I would have to bet plus $350, if that's what your number was on the money line. And if I bet $100 on plus $350, I win $350. Usually, like, when you bet the spread, it's minus 110. That's how the casino gets their money.

It's called the Vig. So I have to bet $110 to win $100. That's just the way gambling works, which to me is I got no issue with. It's part of the deal. As a Lions fan, my first choice for OC would be Bat Nagy. But I doubt that will happen, so I wanted your opinion on Deuce Daly on becoming the OC for the Lions.

How qualified is he in actually on this. actually happening. I love Deuce Daly. I think he's the best position coach I've ever been around. Him and Tim Skipper, who was in college was Tim and in the pros was Duce. Now, I don't, I've never sat down with Duce and talked like route concepts. And I wouldn't even know. I couldn't, you'd have to get like Andy Reader Kyle Shanahan to talk with him about that stuff to understand how, you know, his ability to understand all that stuff. Duce Daley has been in the NFL for 20, plus years. Like, I think he'd be pretty damn good.

I would, I swear by New Staley. I mean, I, I love the guy. Now, how good he is in O.C. Like, I mean, I, just from, would he be the next? Sean McVeigh, I can't say that. But I would take my chances with the guy for sure. I was curious if you're going to the waste management open in Scottsdale this week. It's going to be my first time at the golfing.

event and I don't quite know what to expect. I'm not. But I would love to. And it's my favorite golf tournament to watch. I played there last year during Memorial Day. It's badass. And enjoy it. I mean, have some pops, walk around. Shit, go to hole 16, cheer your ass off and get drunk. Question for the pod. Why are you always doubting my bangles? You said the Rams should be seven point favorites, even though they beat the one and two seed on the road. Feel like you're still unimpressed by them. I'm not unimpressed by them.

I think Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase, like every human with a pulse, are stars. But I was thinking about it. Actually, I was texting with a guy earlier today. The Bengals were down 21 to 3 to the Chiefs. They were down 20 to 6 to the 49ers. It took three interceptions

against the Titans for them to win. Like, they have had an incredible season. I think it's the Rams time. And I like the Rams to beat them by 10 plus points. That is by no means a slight to the Bengals. You guys have had, I mean, it's been fucking storybook. You got Joe Burrell. You're going to go to the playoffs every year. Think about who your competition is. The Steelers don't have a quarterback. Baker Mayfield sucks and he's injured. And you got the Ravens. Like, you guys are in great, great shape. Am I a hater? I'm a hater in the sense that I don't think you're winning the Super Bowl this year.

I don't think you're going to cover. Do I think your future is as bright as the sun? Hell, yes, I do. Always appreciate the show, good insights. You mentioned eating up all the Patriot Dynasty content with Brady retiring this week. I need to check out the Wickersham book, but I really recommend getting lost in the NFL films YouTube wormhole with all the Patriots Super Bowl.

The Falcons versus the Patriots and the Seahawks versus the Patriots films are pretty insightful. I'm not a Patriot fans at all, but the nostalgia and schematic insight of the NFL film's production take me back to when I was a little kid watching the old NFL in the 80s and 90s. One question for you. Doubt this would happen, but do you see Brady getting the itch to return to the NFL after sitting out a season? He seems pretty content with where he's at, but he is clearly a different level of a competitive

animal than any normal person. sorry for the long message. No worries. I don't. I think when Brady, part of it's his age. I mean, he's 40, he's going to be 45 years old. Once he taps out, he's gone. I mean, there's a lot of memes of him looking fat.

I don't know if he's ever, I bet his diet's pretty good from here on out, but I think it's over. You know, he had an incredible run. He's the greatest of all time. I think he'll play golf, hang out with his kids, hang out with this wife, go to living by the beach and go to Hawaii. and shit, just have an incredible life. He's worked for 20 plus years, dedicated his entire life. One thing in that Wickersham book,

after they won the first Super Bowl, he was living with the kicker. And they were going to have the parade, and I think the parade started at like 10 o'clock. And they got drunk, you know, all obviously the days leading up before. And he goes to the kicker, his roommate, I think it was a Nugent.

And he goes, you want to go get a lift, before the parade. And the kicker looks at him like, are you nuts? Who cares? Let's just get drunk. And Brady's like, no, let's go get a lift.

And they went and got a lift. This was in 2000, I guess it would have been two or one. I guess it would have been the 01 season. It would have been January of 2002. Brady's wired. You know, just different than everyone else.

So, you know, I'm with you. I could see him getting bored. But once you're out, you're out. he's he's not like walking you know what when dogs are getting in the water and they kind of put their paw in and then they kind of walk in he just jump you know like when you get a lab and they just jump in
